The airline was founded in April 2001 in Xi'san and started operations on 5 September 2001. with three Fokker F-100. In November 2001, an Boeing 737-400 was purchased, which was replaced by six Airbus A320.
Air Jichang has adopted the IATA code "JI".
The head office of Air Jichang is located in Pyongmeung district, Xi'san.
In 2002, the airline pioneered the use of aircraft for advertising in Jichang. In the same year, Air Jichang began to lease more and more planes to other airlines such as Jichang Airtours and Tianhai Air.
Air Jichang launched scheduled international flights, beginning with the 2010/2011 winter schedule.
The foundations were laid for the first maintenance hangar at the new Sonchang Airport in Xi'san on 21 March 2011. Air Jichang plans to use the hangar together with Jichang Airtours once the new airport becomes operational.
Xi Won-thaek was removed from his position due to the plagarism scandal and was replaced by Xiao Dunming, who initiated an reform of the airline and introduced an new livery.

First Class

Air Jichang's First Class is offered on the Boeing 747, 767, 787 and MD-11. Each seat converts to a two-metre bed, includes laptop power outlets, as well as entertainment facilities. Meals are available on demand. Air Jichang offers dedicated First Class check-in counters at Sonchang Airport, and offers dedicated First Class lounges in Xi'san. Arriving passengers have the option of using Air Jichang's First Class arrival facilities, as well as the new Welcome Lounge.

Business Class

Air Jichang's Business Class is offered on Boeing 737, 747, 757, 767, 787 and MD-11 aircraft. Each seat converts to a two-metre angled lie-flat bed, includes laptop power outlets and entertainment facilities. Air Jichang offers dedicated Business Class check-in counters at Sonchang(Xi'san) and Wonyang airports, as well as dedicated Business Class lounges Sonchang airport, as well as the Air Jichang Welcome Lounge upon arrival in Xi'san. A new Business Class was introduced in 2013 in the Boeing 767. It has fully flat seats, instead of the former angled lie-flat seats, and a larger seat-back entertainment screen. The seats will be introduced across Air Jichang's fleet of 737's, 747's, 757's, 767's, 787's and MD-11's.

Economy Class

Air Jichang's Economy Class is offered on all aircraft. All have a 31" seat pitch except the Boeing 747, 767, 787 and MD-11s, which have a 35" seat pitch. Passengers receive meals, as well as free drinks. Moreover, the whole fleet offers Audio-Video-On-Demand (AVOD) screens in Economy Class.

Air Jichang's frequent-flyer programme is called FlyGuy. FlyGuy members may earn miles on Air Jichang flights, as well as through Air Jichang credit cards, and purchases made through the Air Jichang shops. Status within FlyGuy is determined by miles flown during one calendar year with specific partners. Meals in Economy Class
Air Jichang's Economy class meals are not like the Economy meals served by other airlines.
You can choose between various Chinese or Jichangese traditional meals and an good glass of wine.

Meals in Business Class
At Air Jichang, Business class meals are very delicious and are served in four courses.
First comes traditional Jichangese beef with soup of your choice.
This is followed by fresh green salad.
Then the main course is served which again is followed by ice cream and an fruit salad and completed with an good glass of wine.
An la carte menu is also available as an alternative.

Meals in First Class
The reason the tables in First Class are large is because it is impossible to have an six-course meal on an small table.
First comes the dìyīdàocài to raise your appetite, followed by Japanese sushi with soup of your choice and green salad.
After that the main course is served which can be anything from Chinese rice to Jichangese Niúròutāng.
This is followed by an good and delicious dessert and wine will of course also be served.
Again, an la carte menu is also available as an alternative.

Service for religious people
Christians can aquire an bible(SkyBible) for the flight if they ask one of our flight attendants about it.
An similar service exists for Muslims and Jews, which can aquire an Torah scroll(SkyTorah, only for Jewish passengers) or an Koran copy(SkyKoran, only for Muslim passengers).

CUSTOMER SERVICE
There isn't much information about customer service, like what foods and airport services Air Jichang has, but there is a section about the rules of the airline which is good customer service, especially hurting or insulting other passengers is clearly stated as not allowed. There's nothing about cabin crew which brings the rating down a bit.

QUALITY
The quality of the classes on Air Jichang is excellent as stated, but there are no images of the classes which would help. The fleet is very modern, and there is information about the specifications of the planes which aren't necessarily needed, but is good to have there.

COMMUNITY
There is no information on Eco-friendliness, which is considerably important nowadays due to the carbon footprint, and also that air travel is probably the biggest if not a major cause of global warming and carbon offset. This also brings the rating down.

WEBSITE LAYOUT
The website layout is generally very good and a lot of it is easy to read, but some of it is a bit squashed together and the title images slightly ruin the "neatness" of the storefront, but everything is overall very neat and well laid out.
