A Brief Introduction to the HM Treasury:

The HM Treasury is the official NGA financial ministry. It is modeled after the pre-existing treasury of the UK, and has kept many aspects of its real-life counterpart in its transformation into a NationStates institution. Currently, the HM Treasury is the primary outlet for all NGA region-based economic RPs, and handles the macroeconomics of the region, including governmental spending, local and foreign investment (commonly known as the "storefront"), and financial health/stability. Currently, the HM Treasury will NOT include any form of partisan political influence, and a strongly laissez-faire approach has been adopted for dealings with foreign investment in local markets. However, this is subject to change, and all individuals involved in the HM Treasury should be aware of this. With this ends the brief introduction to the HM Treasury. THE MECHANICS OF THE HM TREASURY/NGA ECONOMY

The HM Treasury/NGA Global Economy Simulation:

In many ways, the NGA Global Economy Simulation is a groundbreaking effort to bring realistic macroeconomics to NationStates. Currently, NS features many storefronts and microeconomics-heavy gameplay aspects. However, here at the HM Treasury, NGA financial ministers seek to bring market realism (and economic scenarios) to the corporate world. Hence, this will affect stock listings and economic performance in ways never before seen in an RP. Companies will perform according to market fluctuations and trends, and will have to respond successfully in order to remain competitive and successful. Participants will be notified by our ministers of economic developments, so as to be adequately notified in the case that a response is necessary.

The Macroconomics of the HM Treasury/ NGA Global Economy:

The HM Treasury's numbers come from varied sources. Most fictitious numbers are produced by NSEconomy, with the NGA Dollar being pegged directly to the NS Dollar. However, for the sake of maintaining interest, numbers like the dollar and GRP may drop on occasion to match certain economic moods, and as such will not follow NSEconomy calculations. One might ask: how often do these market fluctuations occur? In general, you can expect at least 1 major (and possibly 1 minor) economic event a month, and should be prepared to respond accordingly. Furthermore, if there are significant real-life or in-game developments, you can expect market changes as well. Otherwise, mostly only minor week-to-week changes will occur.

An In-Depth Explanation of the HM Treasury/ NGA Global Economy:

The primary means of determining market fluctuation are:
1) Stock Multiplier
2) Share Price

The general equation for determining monthly payout is: #Stocks Owned * #Current Stock Price * Stock Multiplier
HIGH PAYOUT = HIGH GROWTH! (Generally speaking)
An Example: I own 3000 shares in a volatile share with a current share price 100 dollars and a ridiculous 0.1 multiplier. Each month I will be paid $30,000 which is VERY high yield.

Everyday, share prices will grow according to their stock multiplier (this is where the HM Treasury comes in). A newly listed stock of $10 with a multiplier of 0.12 can expect significant growth for an allotted number of days (we determine this), and will probably eventually suffer a massive crash. So over the course of five days, it might grown at a steady rate of $20 a day before suffering a tank. However, bluechip stocks will grow far more slowly, and might only experience stock price increases once every week! That said, they are far more secure. Hence, setting one's multiplier and/or adjusting it is the MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF THIS RP.

Once in a while (2 weeks or so), there will be a market trend. Perhaps cosmetics will be in fashion for 2 weeks, meaning that all cosmetics stocks receive high share price growth (which is good if one intends on selling his or her holdings in said stock or simply earning good payouts). Other times though there will be less positive trends: perhaps ABC airline had 5 crashes in one week, shaking confidence in the entire airline industry. This could tank all stocks for a little while. This is the RP aspect of the stock market, and will vary randomly as the HM Treasury sees fit. Stock multipliers do not change in these cases though.

INTRODUCTION TO INVESTING IN THE NGA ECONOMY:

By investing in companies within the NGA Economy, you will join a realistic market where market forces help to drive natural investment. In your time, you will find that various investments pay better than others, and that the NGASE is a great place to either strike your own fortune or lose everything you already own. Because the NGA economy is relatively complex, please take some time to read the following instructions and acquaint yourself with the general operation of the stock market.

UNDERSTANDING THE NGA ECONOMY:

1. UNDERSTANDING THE VARIOUS TYPES OF STOCKS AVAILABLE: There are currently two forms of stock, government-issued hybrid stocks and those sold by publicly listed corporations. The hybrid stock is the safest form of investment. However, it is often expensive and has moderate payouts (or cheap but has terrible payouts). That said, it is rare that these prices will fluctuate significantly. On the other hand, there are publicly listed corporations which set their own IPOs and multipliers. However, these are often subject to serious change, and a highly listed company may go bust very quickly!
2. UNDERSTANDING THE PAYOUT SYSTEM: In an effort to make this RP accessible, the HM Treasury has created the payout system. In short, to calculate payouts: #Stocks owned * #Current Market Price * Payout Multiplier to receive the amount of money you make (per month).
SETTING PRICES FOR IDIOTS! :
-> Stable Stock: 0.04 Payout, $60-$80 share.
-> Explosive Penny Stock (bound to crash): 0.1 Payout, $10 share.
-> Cheap, slow growing stock: 0.01 Payout, $10-30 share.
-> Blue Chip Stock: 0.05 Payout, $100+ share.
I'm sure that some of you will eventually find a way to game the system, but I'm leaving that up to you to discover!
2. UNDERSTANDING THE MARKET SAFETY EVALUATION SYSTEM: There'll be scams out there, but not to fear, there is a NGA market pricing evaluation system. Based on the respective payouts, you'll be able to understand the risk behind each company's listing.

UNDERSTANDING STOCK RATINGS:

Here at the NGASE, we seek to provide accurate stock ratings to help protect consumers and businesses alike. Having quality assurance and transparency in evaluations is a must in the financial industry, so below, we will attempt to explain to you the means by which our ministers calculate stock ratings. We hope that you will find this information useful.

THE 10 POINT RUBRIC:
1. Multiplier Safety (maximum 3 points): (0.1-(multiplier index))*30
2. Share Price (maximum 2 points): (0-50) = 1 point, (50-100) = 2 points
3. Company Quality (maximum 2 points): This is determined by means of storefront evaluation. We will judge according to the quality of the storefront presented.
4. Company Performance (maximum 1 points): This is determined by means of orders. 0-10 orders = 0 points, 10+ orders = 1 point.
5. Holistic Rating (maximum 2 point): This is determined by our ministers' qualitative evaluations of how well we believe your company will perform in the future through a holistic examination of your corporation.

You may receive decimal ratings at times, depending on whether your company evaluation requires it.

INTRODUCTION:

The following is a list of accounts for each individual or firm currently holding stocks in publicly listed companies/hybrid stocks within the NGASE. In addition to merely showing stocks owned, these accounts will show past transactions, and monetary gain/loss. Monthly dividends will be delivered through these accounts as well. If these dividends cannot be transferrable to a valid NS bank account, they will be held in a trading deposit account (where profits go) operated by the NGASE and held by the Les Cristaux Bank. By law, these trading accounts are private, and should not be opened without prior authorization. Doing so will result in severe consequences, all of which are guaranteed by NGA trade privacy laws.

GENERAL TRADING ACCOUNTS (NGASE GT)

NGASE General Trading Accounts form the majority of NGASE business. Capable of carrying out a wide range of stock market activities, including general purchase and sales, these accounts offer individuals the exciting ability to participate in one of the most active stock exchanges on NS. The following is a brief list of important things one can do with an NGASE General Trading Account. Note that these may not include all the functions of a GT Account, but merely mention the most crucial ones available to traders.
PURCHASE SHARES: A GT account allows a trader to purchase up to 200,000 shares in any one stock a day.
SELL SHARES: A GT account allows a trader to issue a request to sell any number of shares at any time.
RECEIVE DIVIDENDS: Monthly dividends will be paid to account holders in a timely fashion.

The Plus Trading Account is a special special status awarded to particularly successful or valued traders. Traders in this category have proven themselves to be extremely adroit at navigating the stock exchange's various aspects, and as such have made significant monetary gain. Part of the reward for this type of success includes access to a broader scope of trading tools, some of which will be described below. AT THIS TIME, YOU MAY NOT ASK TO BE UPGRADED TO A NGASE PLUS ACCOUNT. Every two weeks, the NGASE will check on general account performance, and will make upgrades as necessary.
PURCHASE SHARES: A Plus Account allows a trader to request license to carry out larger stock purchases. These requests must be sent through TG, or will otherwise be denied.
SELL SHARES: A GT account allows a trader to issue a request to sell any number of shares at any time. This function is the same as that of a GT Account.
OFFICIAL WIRES: With an informal TG request, money will automatically be wired out of your existing trade account to a bank of your choice by the NGASE.
RECEIVE DIVIDENDS: Monthly dividends will be paid to account holders in a timely fashion.
