"Long range tactical assurance"
Background

The Trebuchet, commonly called the Treb by it's operators, is an Transporter Erector Launcher developed by Decoli defense industries for the purpose of fulfilling long range surface to air missile duties as well as intercontinental ballistic missile tasks. The Trebuchet's first design step was usage, and although it may operate and launch weapons under its own systems, it was intended for use with the Wombat command variant. The Treb's main design came into fruition in 1998, when the Oaledonian Strategic Missile Forces determined that a missile carrying system was needed to deter the newest ICBMs unveiled by nations within New Odessa. The Oaledonian government's requirements listed that they needed a mobile, long range, ballistic missile and carrying platform, so Decoli refined its design over the course of 5 years to accommodate ICBM missiles.

Design

The LRTL-12 was originally designed to launch Yajirushi Long range anti-air & ballistic interception missiles that can intercept both aircraft and super-sonic curse missiles at a range of 1,300 miles, with a flight ceiling of 59,000 ft. The missile itself was designed to use a proximity based fuse interconnected with a 41.8lb fragmentation warhead, ensuring that even the most armored airborne systems are
brought down by the massive blast. The story, however, does not end there because although the system was ideal for defending and securing Oaledonia's borders, but the Strategic Missile Forces needed an offensive weapon that could engage targets at the intercontinental level. So after much thought and effort, 2 Uzume MIRV missiles were finally fitted onto the system launcher. Each one of these two missiles operates at 26,000 fps, giving the missiles escape velocity potential at extreme conditions. Speed is not its only interception deterrent though, with each Uzume being equipped with 2 tactical flare & chaff launchers to ensure the missile is not properly intercepted. On the warhead of the Uzume rests a potential 4 headed MIRV delivery vehicle, which can spread 475 kiloton yield nuclear projectiles over an area of 138 miles. This is thanks to the air-burst detention system installed on each warhead, though this weapon system was designed purely as a deterrent.

Tech commentary

The Strategic Air Command of Oaledonia obtained the first LRTLs in 2003 for tactical assessment on behalf of the Strategic Missile Forces. The long and vigorous testing preformed on the system provided the Oaledonian Federation with satisfactory results, intercepting 97% of all aircraft and 86% of all testing
ICBMs launched at various ranges. This accomplishing feat was only surmounted by the vehicles own ICBM capabilities, providing such devastating firepower that it literally changed Oaledonian nuclear policies. Declaring that the Oaledonians would only use these weapons upon enemy forces only if the nation's very sovereignty was at stake. After the nuclear testing, a more unconventional weapon was tested by the OAF for more stealthy matters. The weapon that the Oaledonians had unveiled was the LRTLc THEL (Tactical High Energy Laser), a newly developed anti-aircraft weapon that doubles at tactical missile threat evaluation, detection, and neutralization. With accuracy assured thanks to the 3 dimensional operational field surveillance & response system AI, operators can rest easy knowing that the LRTL-12 will accurately engage and neutralize any threat that it may encounter.
