Whitlock & Flint | Fine Tea | Open

Postby Regnum Albion » Wed Jun 26, 2013 4:31 am

In 1798, James Archibald Whitlock and his business partner Robert Flint landed on the shores of Orange River Territory in search of adventure and gold. What they found instead was a beautiful land, whose rich acidic soil bore a wondrous gift. That gift was tea. Realising its beauty, the two men abandoned their search for gold and established the Whitlock & Flint Fine Tea Plantation, high in the foothills of the Orange Mountains. It is from this very plantation, as well as dozens surrounding it, that Whitlock & Flint is proud to bring you its array of fine teas.

Care and passion of the highest quality go into cultivating, processing and preparing our teas so that our love and dedication can be passed onto you. We believe that such a simple plant, which can produce so many aromatic marvels, deserves not only to be shared with the world, but to be shared at its best. This is what we offer. This is what we do. This is what we love.

We hope you enjoy shopping at Whitlock & Flints.

Whitlock & Flint Fine Tea

About Us

Tea is one of the most basic pleasures in life, but the tea itself need not be basic. Orange River Territory, a Commonwealth of the Anglican Overseas Empire, is by no means basic. Its vast mountain ranges and delicate sub-tropical climate intertwine perfectly to allow the growth of the finest tea plants. The soil, slightly acidic, contributes to their luscious flavours and the regular rainfall provides the perfect environment for our perfect tea plants. With twelve plantations scattered through the foothills of the Orange Mountains, Whitlock & Flint has taken this ideal natural environment and added our own passion and dedication to create truly unique teas, ideal for any situation.

It is not simply our tea that matters to us, however. Whitlock & Flint sincerely believes that only workers who are passionate about what they do, and happy in their job, can create the perfect tea leaves. Which is why all Whitlock & Flint employees are treated with respect and dignity, having been awarded the Duke of Portmore's Carnegie Award for Ethical Practice in Enterprise for the past two years running. Furthermore, throughout our centuries of operation, we have consistently strived to ensure that the communities which help us to produce your tea are themselves helped through our active community-building projects. The ultimate realisation of our social responsibility took place in 2008 when Whitlock & Flint registered as a Mutual Co-operative under Anglican law, giving ownership of the company to the employees themselves. We understand that the best tea can only be produced thanks to our employees' passion, and their passion can only be achieved letting them reap the rewards of what they sow.

Image

After having quickly spread to control the Anglican domestic market through the 18th and 19th centuries, Whitlock & Flint continued to expand, reaching foreign shores and spreading the joy of the perfectly-prepared tea that is simply unrivalled. Outlasting multiple competitors and reaching across seven generations, we have rejected the crass generalisation of tea, retaining our loose-leaf heritage with pride and continuing to serve only the finest and very best to all of our customers. There can only be one reason for such a successful and long-lived enterprise, and it is quite simply our passion, our love, and our dedication.

Varieties

It is not just through the carefully-controlled cultivation that our teas achieve their subtle and unique flavours, but through precise and well-crafted processing too. Serving a full range of six different types of tea, including Oolong and post-fermented tea, our wide range of teas is sure to reveal something to tickle anyone's fancy, no matter the occasion.

What's more, Whitlock & Flint will always strive for the highest quality, meaning we never grind our tea into tea bags. Our products will always be entirely loose leaf, stored in a sealed bag and placed within our beautifully designed tea caddies.

See our products below:

  • Oolong Tea - Smooth, light and refreshing with hints of astringency.
    Image
Oolong Tea is sem-fermented, lying somewhere between Green Tea and Black Tea thanks to its intermediate level of processing. This gives it the refreshingly smooth nature of Green Tea while gaining hints of Black Tea's bitterness and astringency.
  • Milky Oolong Tea - Silky, sweet and refreshing
    Image
Milky Oolong Tea is a variant of traditional Oolong, being sweeter in flavour and having a vanilla aroma. It is extremely light and refreshing and an easy drink.
  • Baihao Oolong Tea - Smooth, sweet and no astringency
    Image
Baihao Oolong is a deep tea, with beautiful aromas of flowers, fruit and sweet magnolia. It is darker than many White or Green Teas but it should nonetheless be drunk without milk, sugar or lemon.
  • Tippy Assam Tea - Malty and fruity
    Image
Tippy Assam Tea is a Black Tea that boasts an authentically malty flavour with hints of fruitiness thanks to the floral tips that give it its name.
  • First Flush Darjeeling Tea - Light grassiness and mellow with floral qualities
    Image
This Darjeeling Tea had been picked from the first flush of tea leaves in the picking season, giving it a wonderfully grassy taste that soothes the mouth.
  • Earl Grey - Bitter, astringent and citrusy
    Image
Made with Black Tea leaves and a hint of Bergamot Orange oil, extracted from the rind, this tea offers a bitter-sweet taste with a uniquely stirring aroma.
  • First Flush Sencha Tea - Mellow, vegetal and grassy
    Image
A popular Green Tea that is now ubiquitous with the Japanese Tea Ceremony, Sencha can be either mellow or astringent depending on whether cool or hot water is used in the initial steeping.
  • Bancha Tea - Fresh and clean
    Image
This Bancha is a delicate Green Tea made using a steaming method. The result is a fresh taste with no hint of bitterness, making for an easy drink.
  • Green Earl Grey - Light, astringent and citrusy
    Image
Green Earl Grey mixes the light astringency of a traditional Green Tea with the sweet citrus elements of a traditional Earl Grey, providing a unique and subtle flavour.
  • Gunpowder Tea - Dry and mildly astringent
    Image
A Green Tea that is not fermented or oxidised and rolled into tight balls (which give the tea its name), Gunpowder Tea requires a much smaller initial amount before steeping, making it ideal value for money.
  • White Downy - Fresh and sweet
    Image
White Downy Tea is a deliciously fresh tea with hints of sweetness and herbs. A delicate flavour that deserves a clean palate.
  • Pai Mu Tan - Delicate and sweet
    Image
Pai Mu Tan (sometimes spelt Bai Mudan) is a White Tea naturally low in caffeine. Its sweet flavour is extremely delicate.
  • Chilli Chai - Hot and spiced
    Image
This Chai, spiced with cardamom, cinnamon and cloves, has been infused with chilli to add a powerful bite to its refreshingly hot flavour.
  • Ginger Chai - Smooth and sweet
    Image
This Chai has been infused with ginger, giving it an even sweeter taste that is ideally suited to adding milk. Its warming effect makes it an ideal evening tea.
  • Pu-Ehr - Earthy, damp and astringent
    Image
A fermented tea, Pu-Ehr is a dense and incredibly earthy tea, being served in a tea cake to preserve the naturally damp aroma and flavour. It is incredibly astringent and best served with water straight from the boil.

Orders

All Whitlock & Flint teas are served loose leaf, sealed in a plastic bag and placed within a beautifully-designed tea caddy. Each caddy contains 50 grams of tea leaf. The exception to this is the Pu-Ehr, which is served in a tea cake of 25 grams.

All individual units are $5.50.

Should you wish to order in bulk, 100 units can be purchased for $450.

Dear Madame,

It is with the greatest degree of gratitude that I write to you today. One of the chief difficulties of producers of fine teas is the logistical issues of transportation. With our worldwide market just starting to open up, we require ever more contractors to fulfil our transportation requirements, and your company's excellent customer service, competitive rates, and sound results seems to be the ideal choice for Whitlock & Flint.

In order to maintain the unique flavours and aromas of our fine teas, the dried leaves must be transported in dark and cool conditions, something that we believe you can easily achieve thanks to your advanced climate control features. Furthermore, your scope of operation in the region of Astyria as well as between the Anglican colonies and their metropole is ideal for our own operational ranges. Therefore, I would be delighted to accept Spedycja Mielowski as Whitlock & Flint's first logistical contractor, to relieve our own transport fleet and our current ad hoc contracts of an initial one third of all transportation requirements, before moving on to conduct a full two thirds of our transportation requirements within six months. We hope that this is a suitable contract, though if any problems do arise, then please feel free to contact us.

Regarding your recruitment services, I must again thank you for your generous offer. However, Whitlock & Flint currently maintains a highly traditional relationship with its plantation workers, having helped to establish many of the towns from which they are drawn during our long history in the Orange Mountains. It is for this reason, as well as our ethical policy, that we must unfortunately decline the offer of recruitment aid regarding our plantation workers.

However, we would gladly use your recruitment services to aid in our development of regional headquarters during our global expansion phase. Most notably, this would be in the region of Astyria, though we plan to expand further afield too.

Once more, I thank you for your generosity in your business dealings with us. Please feel free to contact us publicly should any issues arise. Otherwise, we are willing to negotiate prices privately at once.

Yours,

Ministry of Provisions

Dear Mr Whitlock,

I have read your excellent brochure with great interest. As a nation whose national drink is tea, brewed in the traditional way with boiling water and served hot, we are considering using you as our main, or even sole supplier, if terms can be agreed. At present we have multiple suppliers who collectively cannot guarantee to meet the nation's demand and there is often a shortage in our retail outlets.

With a population of about 100 million, our nation is relatively small by world standards but it is rapidly expanding so you can anticipate an increase of sales over the short and longer term.

By far and away the most popular tea is a blend called NS Tips and the sole producer guards the precise mix details very closely. Their final product is, apparently, a blend of between 15-25 teas, depending on the season, and their tasting blenders have the recipe under the secret 'formula' designation of "888". In order to meet our needs you would somehow need to emulate this 'formula' and then prove to us that you can match the flavour of the tea brewed from the blend of our current supplier. How you achieve this we leave entirely to your experts.

It seems as if you presently do not supply blended tea, however, with such a new and potentially promising market, we trust that you can expand your product line to include such teas in the future. We look forward to an early reply.

Minister,

I must thank you for the interest you have shown in Whitlock & Flint, and commend you on the high regard held for fine teas within your nation. It is truly a pleasure to find others who appreciate the finesse involved in the delicate craft of tea-making.

Unfortunately, however, Whitlock & Flint solely provides loose leaf teas, processed in traditional ways and expertly crafted to release a unique flavour and aroma. No two cups of tea are ever alike, and that applies to blends of tea too. Climate, environment, altitude and other physical factors affect the growth of all tea plants, meaning that the tea grown in our plantations in the Orange Mountains is unlike any other tea in the world. This is true in reverse too, meaning that NS Tip's own blend is also unique, being almost impossible for us to replicate without access to the exact environmental conditions that their own tea plants have been cultivated in.

Furthermore, due to the organic nature of our tea-growing operations, it would be impossible for our company to act as a sole supplier of tea to your entire nation.

I must profusely apologise for this, however as one who appreciates the intricacies of tea-growing and processing, I hope you can understand the impossibilities of such a task.

Whitlock & Flint would, however, gladly supply retail outlets within your nation with our own varieties of loose leaf tea which would maintain their truly unique characteristics while being available at a competitive price. We are always open to your tea needs.

Yours,

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear communist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a humanist.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible realistic egalitarian with several strong convictions.

Dear Mr. Whitlock,

Whilst on a recent business trip abroad, the Managing Director of the Woodsteasian conglomerate, Arena (of which we are a large part of), was delighted to have come across a business lunch service serving fine varieties- those of Whitlock & Flint. Mr. Becker tried the fragrant White Downy then he moved on to the immaculate Bancha Tea, and upon departure he requested that the hosts recommended the supplier. Mr. Becker, arriving back at Corporate Headquarters, was all too happy to tell Archon Hotels of these teas.

Preamble aside, Archon Hotels is an expansive hotels chain which is beginning to blossom into other nations. With this in mind, as a competitor to many, we simply must provide your excellent tea varieties in the complementary welcoming baskets. We currently operate in 14 nations, bringing in arrivals to 2,000 rooms a day across the globe. Thus, Archon has no choice but to make one tall order.

We realise it is a request which my be hard to fulfill. However, we would like to test the water for one week's supply. We intend to buy in bulk- 300 (100-packs) of each variety, please. We feel his should be sufficient for serving for up to 7 or 8 days in a welcome basket. Archon is always looking for the next best thing, and Whitlock & Flint are the most recent on the list.

Many years ago, before I became president of this fine nation, I was visiting relatives in a neighbouring country. At their home they served a wonderful tea, the only tea that I would drink, being a coffee man. I had just recently been informed that the tea that I so enjoyed was your Tippy Assam. I would like to order 500 units, bulk, for my own personal enjoyment. My wife is also a fan of your Bancha Tea, she only drinks tea, and I would therefore request 1000 units bulk ordered for her. We would also request 10000 units bulk of your Green Earl Grey, to be used as diplomatic gifts and to stock the parliament buildings lounges. You're standard price is more than acceptable and upon confirmation of the transaction, the money will be wired directly into your account(s).

Thank you and farewell,
President Tobias Rutherford Beamer

Dear Sir,

First of all, I am delighted to hear that Mr Becker was pleased enough with our products to personally select them. It is a pleasure for us that the mere appreciation of our teas acts as advertisement enough for their quality and sensation. Furthermore, I would like to thank you and Archon Hotels Group for deciding to take Mr Becker's recommendation and choose Whitlock & Flint for your fine teas, even if the current order would be for a trial only. The large quantity of teas that you request can be handled by our operations, which are currently in an expansion phase, and by our distributors at Spedycja Mielowski.

Regarding your order, your listed quantities and varieties of tea are readily available from our current distribution centres, and will come to a price of:

30,000 Oolong Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 Milky Oolong Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 Tippy Assam Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 First Flush Darjeeling Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 Bancha Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 Green Earl Grey Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 White Downy Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 Pai Mu Tan Tea at a price of $135,000
30,000 Chilli Chai at a price of $135,000
30,000 Ginger Chai at a price of $135,000
30,000 Pu-Ehr Tea at a price of $135,000

This comes to a total of $1,485,000, to be taken from your account by Whitlock & Flint upon dispatching your order. We appreciate that this current order is a trial run only and so we will not automatically continue such an order on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. However, should you decide to permanently do business with Whitlock & Flint, either with the current order or with an amended version of it, then please do not hesitate to contact us.

Again, I sincerely thank you for selecting Whitlock & Flint for your tea supplying needs. We pride ourselves on our customer service, so if you have any suggestions or requests, then please make them known and we will do what we can to ensure that you are satisfied.

Mr President,

Allow me to extend my gratitude that someone as esteemed as yourself, the President of the nation of Solaray, would choose to personally select Whitlock & Flint for your fine tea needs. I am truly honoured that our teas' unique aromas and flavours have endeared you to them, even with a preference for the stronger but equally delicious drink of coffee. I am also overjoyed to learn that you wish to stock Whitlock & Flint's teas in your nation's parliament building, an honour of which I, and all at Whitlock & Flint, are extremely grateful.

Regarding your order, your listed quantities and varieties of tea are readily available from our current distribution centres, and will come to a price of:

500 Tippy Assam Tea at a price of $2250
1000 Bancha Tea at a price of $4500
10,000 Green Earl Grey Tea at a price of $45,000

This comes to a total of $51,750, to be taken from your account by Whitlock & Flint upon dispatching your order. Due to a lack of any further information, we shall assume that this is a single order only and not to be renewed on a weekly, monthly or annual basis. However, if you would like to make this a regular order, please do not hesitate to contact us. Regardless of such an issue, we hope you choose to shop at Whitlock & Flint in the future.

Again, I sincerely thank you for selecting Whitlock & Flint for your tea supplying needs. We pride ourselves on our customer service, so if you have any suggestions or requests, then please make them known and we will do what we can to ensure that you are satisfied.

Mr Whitlock,

We accept to pay upon dispatch promptly and we do so sincerely trust that our guests, during this global trial run, do take notice. We will be pointing our keen eyes at Whitlock & Flint. Should the expected persist, and should we open up more hotels soon, I'm sure we could expand the tea to a larger routing order for breakfast and lunch services, too.

Thank you in advance.

Imperial Tea Purchase

Postby Empire of Free Taiwan » Thu Aug 01, 2013 9:11 am

To CEO of Whitlock & Flint Fine Tea
From Head of Royal Logistics and Purchases

The Empire of Free Taiwan, although has a taste for good wine, has also a very cultured taste for tea. Our beloved Supreme Leader and his family has an exceptional taste for fine tea, as their status represents. It is not only the Royal Family that has a love for tea, but many other high families and even ordinary officers does. That is why I as the Head of Royal Logistics and Purchases, have contacted you. Your store front was renowned to be a producer of one of the world's finest tea. Thus, we have an intent to purchase the following for a taste in the marvels of your tea supplies.
-------Order Form---------
Nation: Empire of Free Taiwan
Representative: Richard Hansen, Head of Royal Logistics and Purchases
Variety and Amount of Tea:
Oolong Tea - 300 units (15000 grams)
Tippy Assam Tea- 500 units (25000 grams)
First Flush Darjeeling tea - 600 units (30000 grams)
Green Earl Grey tea -200 units (10000 grams)
--------------------------------
Mainly, this order variety serves as a basic taster for the Royal Family and those selected, if the national census finds the tea of great quality and great taste, we will be inclined to purchase more in bulk, and perhaps on a bimonthly timing. However, we would like to inquire if there's plain Earl Grey tea in stock with your store front, as it is a popular choice amongst our people. Thank you, and we will have the necessary funds delivered to your corporate account once the order is approved.

Sincerely,
Richard Hansen

Guten Tag,

I, Kanzler Helmut von Wolfenstein (leader of The Holy Empire of The High Tatras), would like to officially endorse this company and its business practices. I approve of the great efforts you have made to produce a high quality product while simultaneously looking out for the interests of ordinary workers and consumers. The High Tatras has many similar worker cooperatives organized around worker self-management. We believe that the world would be a better place to live and work if more followed this path.

In addition, I would like to purchase one of each of your teas for my own personal consumption.

Sincerely,

Kanzler Helmut von Wolfenstein

To whomever it may concern,

It is truly an honour for Whitlock & Flint to find itself being sought after by the royal family of the Empire of Free Taiwan. We appreciate the deep cultural significance that tea holds within your nation, and are flattered that our own teas are considered worthy enough to be sampled by all of your citizens, from the royal family to the ordinary citizen.

Regarding your order, your listed quantities and varieties of tea are readily available from our current distribution centres, and will come to a price of:

This comes to a total of $7200, to be taken from your account by Whitlock & Flint upon dispatching your order. We sincerely hope that the tea is to your liking and that further orders may be placed in the future.

Regarding your inquiry concerning the availability of Earl Grey Tea, currently Whitlock & Flint is regrettably unable to provide it. However, as our company undergoes a phase of expansion, we plan to increase our processing facilities and capabilities. Therefore, Whitlock & Flint will be unveiling an additional range of teas in the near future, with the possibility of Earl Grey appearing on that list. If you would like a private message from Whitlock & Flint when such an option is available, please notify us and we can promptly warn you as soon as Earl Grey Tea becomes available on our storefront.

Again, I sincerely thank you for selecting Whitlock & Flint for your tea supplying needs. We pride ourselves on our customer service, so if you have any suggestions or requests, then please make them known and we will do what we can to ensure that you are satisfied.

Dear: Mr. M Whitlock, Whitlock & Flint Fine Tea
From: Jennifer Guardian Esq., Sky
Subject: Acquisition and merger talks
Encryption: SSL 2.0 Secure

Dear Mr. Whitlock,

I am writing this letter on behalf of the board members of Sky Corporation, in recognition of the excellent teas produced, which I am told are selling well in our subsidiary CuppaCoffee. As I have no doubt you are aware, Sky is a global multinational conglomerate with companies in technology, aviation, hospitality and more. The success of Whitlock & Fine products have been encouraging and I believe there is potential for further growth as a luxury tea brand.

Indeed, Sky would like to aid Whitlock & Fine with its introduction into the Dangish Empire. The Imperial market is all but saturated. The Dangish are avid tea drinkers, with the most common variety being "English Breakfast Tea." Drunk almost every four hours, tea is ubiquitous and thus has a well-established market. In order for Whitlock & Fine to establish itself in the Empire, it would almost certainly need an Imperially-based partner. Sky would like to be said partner.

Sky would like to propose the establishment of an Imperially-based subsidiary named "Whitlock & Fine Dangish Empire Inc.," trading, of course, as simply "Whitlock & Fine." This subsidiary would be a joint venture between our two companies, with Sky holding a 25% stake on Whitlock & Fine operations within the Dangish Empire. We believe there are many benefits to this arrangement.

Firstly and foremost, Sky would provide capital to the sum of £1.6 million, or $9.6 million universal. Secondly, Sky would provide expertise of the Dangish market alongside talent. Whitlock & Fine would gain access to Sky's logistics operations as well as the option to partner with Sky's other businesses. Importantly, Whitlock & Fine would be able to use the advertising resources of Sky to become a tea behemoth worthy of challenging Plinning's, Metley or Scott & Son.

Any agreement would include a clause permitting Sky to sell its 25% stake of Dangish operations within 5 years, with Whitlock & Fine having first right of refusal.
We hope you consider this arrangement, as we truly believe it would be beneficial to both parties.

Yours sincerely,

Jennifer Guardian Esq.

Subject: Your Proposal
Date: August 2, 2013

Dear Madam,

I am honoured that Whitlock & Flint has been able to attract the attention of the world-renowned Sky Corporation, something for which I am truly grateful. Indeed, we are hoping to expand our company further throughout the world, spreading the simple joy of true tea-drinking with us.

We are confident that, despite the saturation of the Dangish tea market, we can make a large impact in the high-end luxury tea sector for a multitude of reasons. First of all, no tea is the same as any other. Only our teas have the intense aromas and gorgeous fragrances that make them so unique, just as we could never hope to create anything equal to that already on the Dangish market. Secondly, your nation's most common tea, English Breakfast, though a fine drink, does not match the Whitlock & Flint tea-making model. Being a blend of various teas from around the world, it is not the same type of product as Whitlock & Flint's loose-leaf single variety, meaning that our products differentiate from the Dangish norm, allowing them further initial impact on the market.

However, having only recently launched its global operations, and nearing a new phase of expansion, Whitlock & Flint would indeed require some aid to penetrate such a saturated, but rewarding, market as that found in the Dangish Empire. Therefore, I would like to thank you for your kind offer of support and accept the proposed establishment of a subsidiary within the Dangish Empire. However, I would like to make clear that this subsidiary would make no international sales or take on no international clients (other than services contractors should the need arise), instead operating solely within the Dangish Empire. I hope this is an acceptable proposition for your corporation.

Again, I sincerely thank you for selecting Whitlock & Flint for your tea supplying needs. We pride ourselves on our customer service, so if you have any suggestions or requests, then please make them known and we will do what we can to ensure that you are satisfied.

Yours,
