About Us
VoorTrekker K9 was founded in 1927 as a joint venture between the Boer Kennel Council and several private investors, for the expressed purpose of, "promoting and maintaining the highest standards of canine breeding and training for working dogs within the Federation of Boer Republics." The Boer people have a long history of breeding shepherd and guard dogs, going back to the earliest days of Dutch colonization, and had already developed a range of domestic breeds by the end of the 19th Century. Building upon these rich traditions, VoorTrekker K9 has grown to be the largest breeder and trainer of working dogs in the Boer Republics, both for the civilian market and the Boer Armed Forces. The company has expanded to provide not only domestic breeding/training, but a wide range of services for the international market including foreign breeding and training programs, and contract dog-handler teams for foreign military and law enforcement agencies.

Training/Breeding Programs
Combat Scout Breeding Package
The Combat Scout Breeding Package is a special service offered by VoorTrekker K9. This package includes 100 male and 100 female Saarloos Wolfhoud pups, of which an estimated 60 are expected to form breeding pairs. These animals will be trained by VoorTrekker K9 specialist instructors, who will provide the technical knowledge to establish a self-sustaining breeding and training program within even the least advanced nations. This program costs NS$ 1,500,000.00, and includes 200 Saarloos Wolfdog pups as well as a full compliment of specialist instructors for a three year period, which should be sufficient to train the first generation of dogs, as well as their handlers. This program is recommended for nations wishing to establish their own pool of trained combat canines, and has the advantage of fully acclimating dogs to their respective handlers, as opposed to purchasing already-trained dogs.
Dog-Handler Teams
Shepherding Team
A shepherding team consists of a trained handler and shepherding dog (Saarloos Wolfhoud or Dutch Shepherd Dog). Already trained and fully aclimated to his/her current handler, this dog-handler team is ideal for agricultural/ranching companies which can not afford to breed their own dogs but would still profit from these animals. A shepherding team is available for NS$ 1,000.00/week.
Detection Team
A detection team consists of a trained handler and detection dog (Saarloos Wolfhoud or Dutch Shepherd Dog). This animal has been trained with his/her assigned handler for the full two year training cycle. Working well together, this team of dog and handler is well equipped to detect illegal narcotics or explosive for police and military agencies. A detection team is available for NS$ 2,000.00/week.
Combat Scout Team
Only the best of the best in terms of both dogs and handlers are chosen for combat scout teams. These teams are intended to operate with forward infantry units, assisting with reconnaissance and patrol duties. All combat scout dogs are trained for three years, to the highest standards set by VoorTrekker K9, and all handlers have combat and weapons training and/or are ex-military. These teams are available for NS$ 3,500.00/week.
