Company History
Oceanic Transportation was founded in the late 1970s by James Henry Quartermaine, originally working for the offshore industry delivering supplies to the ports such as steel pipe, rig supplies and food as well as parts for the supply ships. Starting out with just 3 trucks, James Henry Quartermaine slowly expanded its operation and fleet to its current size of over 1500 vehicles. In 1990 Oceanic Transportation moved into deliving frozen produce for a supermarket chain within the Aurora Confederacy, still working out if its original site of White Rock but had set up 3 other satellite depots, one at Katowice Nova in southern Aurora Confederacy, the other being at Peace Valley. In the summer 2009, James Henry Quartermaine suffered a heart attack at the office, and so the running of the company has passed on to Jessica Quartermaine, who at the time was working as a submarine operator for a scientific research company although Initally Jessi's Older sibling, Asha Joanne Quartermaine was offered the opportunity to take over the company but declined as she was in a stable job with a shipping company. Jessi officially took over the company in 2010 as Deteriorating health finally became too much for James Henry Quartermaine, resulting in his passing away.
Throughout the period that James Henry Quartermaine was running the company, drivers were expected to wear shirt and ties to give them a more professional image, to some degree this worked but in other ways was somewhat impractical so in 2010, Jessi brought in a more informal company uniform, consisting of smart logo embroidered polo shirt and fleece tops which were more popular with drivers than the shirt and ties and also more practical but still retained a smart appearance.
However up until 2013, the vast majority of the operations have been domestic operarions in the Aurora Confederacy, and now Oceanic Transportation has plans to expand further afield, which partly came to be with a contract to supply the production line for the new DS800 in Mizialand, however this is just one rung on the expansion ladder.
Oceanic Transportation fleet consists mainly of the Diamond Star Kvasir 25RX, this was a decision made by James Henry Quartermaine because at the time they were the best truck around for the job, proving to be reliable in service and frugal with fuel, with their flat floor design cabs giving drivers plenty of space to store odments and personal belongings needed for spending entire weeks away from the depot. The old livery was a traditional sign written livery, but in 2010 the current reflective livery was adopted, making for an equally destinctive livery but matching modern trends regarding paint schemes.
With many drops carried out by Oceanic Transportation being situated inside urban areas, Oceanic Transportation preffers to use cab over types, this reduces the overall length of the combination, making it easier to get in and out of tight city deliveries, and has a significant safety benefit as the driver has a better view of the road head rather than being obscured by a large bonnet.
To ensure the best ride for the cargo, trucks and trailers are equipped with what is termed with Road Friendly Suspension instead of traditional steel suspension. When it comes to load security, each trailer has a dual lock shutter mechanism that automatically locks once the truck is placed into drive, with the door release activated by a button inside the cab, so there is no external lock for anyone to pick and gain entry to the trailer, and for high value cargoes the trailers can be locked down by satellite command from the headquarters in White Rock, and with the trucks being GPS tracked controllers will know if a vehicle has gone off route, this will usually result in the driver getting a phone call as to why the truck has deviated from the route.
For customer benefit, all trucks and trailers are satellite tracked using GPS technology, and with loads scanned onto trailers at collection, and scanned off when delivered, you, the customer, will know exactly where your consignment is, and when it is going to get there. Oceanic aims to get loads delivered on time EVERY TIME
Even trucking has an impact on the environment, as such drivers Oceanic puts its drivers through an eco-driving course to enable them to drive more efficiently, saving fuel and reducing environmental impact, furthermore Oceanic Transportation's refrigerated trailers are designed to be as eco friendly as possible, Rather than pure diesel engines, the trailers use solar power and LPG powered refrigeration systems, significantly reducing the carbon footprint over traditional diesel engine fridges, these hybrid trailers are also significantly quieter than traditional fridge trailers. To save energy further and thus lower operating costs for the company, offices of Oceanic Transportation and warehouses use low energy LED lighting systems and have enhanced insulation, this reduces the energy needed to heat the buildings, and to keep the refrigerated areas cold, allowing savings to be passed on to customers.
Whether you be involved in the making of pottery, clothes, selling of consumer goods or frozen food, Oceanic Transportation, with its fleet of box-body trailers is the company for you to hire in order to move your produce from point A to point B, whether it be a full load or part load capacity, however We do not transport weapons or explososives, this is due to the terms and conditions of the Operator licence given to us by the Mercantile federal government. In order to make the best use of time, long distance deliveries are scheduled to be done overnight, this allows for a faster delivery time as travelling by night means lower traffic volumes, and with Oceanic no distance too small or to great, We will pick up the cargo and deliver it, no matter whether it be the middle of Wednesday or 2am Christmas day, Oceanic Transportation works 24 hours a day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year. To allow this to take place with the highest efficiency, deliveries and collections are scheduled by the planners to ensure that they can be done in the most time-efficient manner, this in turn allows for running costs to be kept down, enabling those to be passed onto YOU the customer.
Where many companies have the boss sat in the office, Oceanic Transportation is different, managerial staff are all qualified truck drivers, so know the ins and outs of the regulations, and as part of the company policy must spend at least 2 weeks every 3 months working on the road, this is to keep their skills alive and to ensure that they know exactly what the drivers have to go through, making for a more efficient operation, the only difference to this is the company secretary, this is because the manager, Jessica Quartermaine is very much a driver at heart, liking do her part for the company rather than sit behind a desk in an office, isolated from the company operations. Jessi is vey much a hands on boss.
