Arena has recently set up an auction of Kobe Sushi Bars and Oxygen Eateries; Rio Restaurants Group is no longer expanding under the powers of Arena. If you're interested, you're welcome to place a bid until Saturday 14 December 2013 here. Society Wine Bars will be transferred to a new brand by Arena- Arcadis.
The Rio Expansion
Founding
Rio was founded in 1979 at the Rio Wharf Diner in the District of Steedcraft. Owner of the diner, Winston J Gallagher, wished for “opulent, comfortable dining” and “fluent, polished service”. Gallagher, in 1987, at the age of 76, purchased the Woldland wine bar, Grande, and re-branded it as Society. Subsequent operations led on to the Kobe Sushi Bar in New Utrecht and Woldland, and the nouvelle cuisine eatery, Oxygen. In 1998, Mr Gallagher passed away, leaving it to managers of the Rio Wharf Diner.
Revival
Managers formed a Board of Directors, and with this, Rio in 1999 and began to invest in his dream- refined surroundings, great culinary success, and award-winning service. This trademark has been passed from town to town, through all brands. In Woodstead, Rio oversees 30 Society Wine Bars, 32 Kobe Sushi Bars, and 24 Oxygen Restaurants, as of January 2013.
Expansion
Woodstead has witnessed the warm wines, the diverse dishes, and the crisp culture. Mediocre service is not acceptable at Rio- branded establishments. We have committed, amiable staff. Accept nothing less than Rio.
