The Anvil Arms Corporation

History

In early 2019, Allen Riley borrowed 1.2 billion dollars from Gerencer and private investors, along with buying a small chain of islands in the Coalition State. He immediantly began construction on a modern labratory, testing facility, and numerous office complexes, converting a wild forest atoll into a contemperary, stylish, and efficent location for arms manufacturing.

Within six months, the newly-dubbed "Anvil Arms Corporation" released it's first catalog of weaponry, a state-of-the-art weapon base, called the CARB system. It was a major success, with demand twice as high as supply for almost three months strait. This allowed the company's stock prices to skyrocket, from $12.32 NSD to almost $200 per share. Within a year of it's conception, Anvil Arms was able to repay the 1.2 Billion it borrowed and expand to become the SDC's second-largest company, second only to Universal Petroleum.

In the next year, Anvil Arms was thrown into the international spotlight when it presented the "Aggressive Negogiations" catalog, which included major hits like the Ambassador gunship, Diplomat tank, and Statesman Strategic Bomber.

As the company expanded, it began building numerous facilities, expanding it's market to civilians, and eventualy becoming the main weapons contractor to the Strategic Defense Coalition.

Small Arms

The CARB System

Image

The CARB system is based around a single “base” unit, which can be modified for any situation. Anvil Arms also developed a variety of helpful attachments, so that users could further customize the weapon for everyday to SpecOps use. The base weapon is Gas operated, with a revolving breech. It’s rate of fire is four hundred rounds per minute, and its ammunition is 6.2x 35. Their magazine capacity is thirty six rounds in a disposable box magazine with built-in ammo counter, and the selective fire includes safety, semi-auto, and full auto variants.

A bullpup style configuration (action and magazine both behind trigger), allows for an increase in the relative length of the barrel and thus more lethality at a distance. Base model can be modified with extended barrels, twenty millimeter munition launchers, day/night stabilized optical zoom scopes, pinpoint laser sights, and even GPS transponders. Ammo for munition launcher can include high explosives that are fin-stabilized, ranging from HE grenades to tactical buckshots.

Drones

PD-6 "Guard Dog" Combat Drone

Image

The tracked design of PD-6 Guard Dog allows for use in all terrains, and with a 6.8mm minigun, they pack a big punch. The Guard Dog is used most effectivley in urban riot-control scenarios, but can adapt to combat situations aswell. One of the most popular features is the THEL system, which fires an invisible pulse of electromagnetic energy at a desired target, which often results in short-circuting it. This makes it a lethal gunship and tank killer, and in numbers caan reak havoc on even the most advanced armor core. The drone is battery powered, and while the actual battery life is a strictly-guarded secret, it has been rumored that they can operate for days on a single charge. Guard Dogs will often be deployed as escorts for infantry, riot control teams, or as sentries.

MQ-1 "Banshee" Rotor Suicide Drone

Image

This armed, VTOL-capable UAV is ideal for both reconnaissance and attack missions. Its small size and light, aerodynamic design makes it the most agile and quiet UAV in use by any armed force in the late 2010s, giving it's users unparrelled unmanned intel. Surprisingly, it's use became more as of a kamakazie-style aircraft then a intellegence vehicle when Coalition State troops outfitted them with a rather large amount of plastic explosive, then sent them crashing into there enemies with devastataing results. It became known for it's sudden high-pitched yawn when speeding up in a dive, and so the name "Banshee" was adopted.

MQ-3 "Savage" Rotor Combat Drone

Image

The Savage's compact airframe is capable of housing two large multipurpose guided missiles that run the entire length of its body. The weight of these missiles keeps it from being very maneuverable or fast, but after deploying its weapons, the MQ-3 is very nimble. These missiles can decimate tanks and artillery, as they cannot effectively defend themselves against the small and manuverable Savage without substanisal allocation of energy into targeting computers.

MQ-7 "Vulture" Rotor Combat Drone

Image

In the SDC's many wars, the Riysan military watched with a keen intrest in unmanned UAVs and drones, and saw how many militaries used them to there fullest potentinal. After a succesful result with the T-100 Ogre, the Riysans signed a contract for Anvil Arms to produce 45 upgraded MQ-3s. Their first design of this aircraft, the MQ-4, was actually a MQ-3 converted to play a more strategic role in a battle instead of a one time use. Anvil Arms quickly saw the potential of UAV's like this to carry weapons and designed into their MQ-5 the ability to carry a sizable amount of ordnance. The MQ-5, however, was not perfect and suffered a great deal of mechanical problems in addition to being underpowered and having relatively low fuel capacity. Those issues were fixed, and Tupolev rolled out the MQ-6. The MQ-6 was a successful aircraft, and the Riysan Iron Guards adopted it readily. Once in the field, soldiers described it as hovering over the battlefield "как гриф" (like a vulture) which Anvil Arms adopted as the plane's name. The current version is actually the MQ-7, which has a quieter engine, a SAM countermeasure system, and improved sensors over the MQ5 and 6.

Armored Vehicles

M1A3 "Panther" Light Tank

Image

The Panther M1A3 combines the best features of mounted combat systems from all around the SDC. The focus on high technology and speed is evident-It uses a more robust version of the same hybrid engine that powers the Fastback IFV. The Panther excels in maneuverability and yet is still a very capable weapons platform. By combining its 100mm main gun with a newly-designed automatic loading system the Anvil Arms have made the Panther M1A3 one of the fastest-firing tanks in the world.

The Panther is the fastest tank in Anvil Arms' arsenal and affords the it's users considerable advantages against less mobile forces. Panthers are able to transverse to the areas where they are most needed with reliable speed making the Panther an ideal quick response force for National Guard and SpecOps forces. The Panther's main gun can also fire high powered microwave shells which can have a devestating effect on opponents' elctronic systems, dirupting the enemy's targeting computers and engines. The THEL, a high-frequency electromagnetic pulse generator, is also a deadly close quarters defense weapon which can help the Panther shred through combat drones and hold it's own against gunships.

M5A2 “Diplomat” Main Battle Tank

Image

Anvil Arms likes to refer to the M5A2 Diplomat as the world's premiere mounted combat system and it's easy to see why. This Main Battle Tank is the pride of Anvil Arm’s armored vehicles collection, and can endure massive punishment while dealing out the same. Its 120mm smoothbore cannon is capable of blasting apart enemy fortifications while its advanced fire control system gives it unsurpassed accuracy. Unlike the M118 Fastback, the M5A2 still uses a gas turbine rather than a diesel hybrid engine.

Featured in the spotlight of Anvil Arms’ “Aggressive Negotiations” Expo in 2020, this mounted combat system is yet another example of the end results from the Future Combat Systems program. While its primary armament, a 120mm smoothbore cannon, is essentially unchanged from tanks of previous generations, the rounds it's capable of firing are updated to be much more punishing. Like most modern tanks, it still has the tried and true .50 caliber coaxial heavy machinegun, but Anvil Arms has configured it so that the Diplomat can now be fitted with the RAVEN 20mm chain gun, an improved version of the tested classic. The Diplomat also comes standard with an Advanced Active Defense System which provides added protection against an array of high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) weaponry.

T-100 "Ogre" Heavy Tank

Image

When the Riysan government came to Anvil Arms with a quest for a modern tank, they were expecting something like the Diplomat-fast moving, light armor- However, while working with Riysan engineers, Anvil Arms created a true beast on the battlefield- T-100 Ogre. Its 152mm Smoothbore gun is of a completely new design never seen before and dwarfs that of the Delegate. Variations mount a classic 125mm Weapon with Thermal Sleeve for improved muzzle velocity. Both weapons can fire Armour-Piercing Sabot shells. Its armor is the toughest in the world, and can be bolstered by Kontakt ERA and the "Shtora" (Blind) Electronic countermeausure, as well as the "Arena" active defense system system. It can also be fitted with a Bumblebee chemical flamethrower on the commander's cupola. When the T-100 lumbers onto the battlefield it enjoys a level of dominance unheard of since the Tiger tanks of World War II.

M118 “Fastback” Infantry Fighting Vehicle

Image

Upon first inspection, the M118 Fastback looks like little more than an updated version of infantry fighting vehicle designs used at the close of the 20th century. However, it represents a huge leap forward in IFV design. It is capable of engaging both ground and airborne targets and can quickly provide transport for a full squad of riflemen. Faster, more fuel-efficient, deadlier, and tougher than its predecessors, the Fastback incorporates many features pioneered by Anvil Arms in it’s early stages.

The M118 Fastback may look familiar on the outside, but it’s a whole new beast on the inside. Its original 600 horsepower turbo-diesel engine has been replaced by a more fuel-efficient hybrid engine. Advances in hybrid technology have allowed for this change to be made without a sacrifice in horsepower or torque while leaving the vehicle's weight virtually unchanged.

Lessons learned from the Army's Stryker program led to the M118 being a tracked vehicle rather than a wheeled one. The Fastback also includes a full suite of electronic countermeasures and is fully "wired" according to specifications set by the Anvil Arms Corporation.

Its main armament, a dual-feed chain gun, has been upgraded from 25mm to 30mm. This helps to simplify supply logistics for nations using the Anvil Arms’ Ambassador gunships, which use the same type of ammunition. It also has the added benefit of increasing both the range at which the Fastback can engage enemy targets and stopping power.

Airborne Units

V-25 "Challenger" Medium Transport

Image

After the development of the Crankshaft, Anvil Arms realized that they needed a secondary option-for in some cases, the Crankshaft was simply to large. So, with that in mind, and after years of controversy and scrutiny, the tilt-rotor aircraft was finally perfected with the V-25 Challenger. The first generation of this aircraft saw action throughout the Herigjen Wars and SDC Civil War, proving it's usefulness as a CaseVac and rapid deployment unit.

V-120 "Crankshaft" Heavy Transport

Image

For years, the C-130 Hercules was the main transport aircraft of most militaries. But when most companies saw a monopoly, Anvil Arms saw oppurtunity. They succesfully managed to combine an Osprey assualt gunship with the famous transport, creating one of the largest transport aircraft in the world. Christened the V-120 Crankshaft, it serves as the main heavy-lift transport aircraft for most SDC militaries, most notably the Coalition State's Joint Strike Force. It is often used to bring armored vehicles into combat, such as the Delegate and Fastback, though can also carry an entire company of marines in it's huge bays.

The Crankshaft is Anvil Arms' pride and joy, and also it's most succesful product on the market to date, save the CARB system.

AH-80 “Ambassador” Gunship

Image

The AH-80 almost never happened. Its original design went through extensive research and development but was canned due to budget cuts in early 2004. However, the recent arms race prompted a revival of the program. The Blackfoot's predecessor was renamed and became the AH-80, which is now in service. Its most distinct design characteristic is its canard rotor/wing design.

The Ambassador is a stealthy, high-agility gunship that represents the latest innovations in helicopter design. Its unique fly-by-wire 2.0 system cuts down the time required to train a pilot. It can also be upgraded to use a high-efficiency hydrogen engine which was developed by a company based in Southern Denegrad, Arm & Hammer. Its targeting system is another point of pride for its developers. Previous gunship targeting systems were connected to the gunner's helmet, pointing the gunship's chain gun at wherever the gunner is looking. The Ambassador's advanced targeting system takes this premise one step further and actually monitors the gunner's eyes making targeting virtually instantaneous and incredibly precise. Once the gunner has a target picked out, the helicopter's 50mm chain gun can make short work of it. The AH-80 is also equipped with rockets and guided air to ground missiles, making it a very effective tank-killer.

The canard rotor/wing spins like a helicopter but can also be fixed to act like a wing. Early pilots who flew the Ambassador for the first time were often worried by the chopper's lack of a rear rotor blade, but once they got up into the air these concerns quickly disappeared. The advanced canard rotor/wing design of the AH-80 allows it to perform an amazing array of aerobatic maneuvers.

A-20 "Broadsword" Strike Fighter

Image

When Gerencer's military began modernizing, the Air Force lobbied intensively for new aircraft to replace their aging fleet. Anvil Arms took the challenge, the result being the A-20 "Broadsword". The airframe is almost identical to the "Hailstorm," internally the aircraft resembles the tank-like Sf-21. The pilot of the A-20 sits in a high strength carbon nano-tube bathtub, which also surrounds the avionics, helping to increase the plane's survivabilty without adding significantly to the mass. The aircraft has thrust vectoring nozzles, which improve the aircraft's handling, allowing the A-20 to perform the trademark "Pugachev's cobra" and tailslide manoeuvres.

Sf-21 "Hailstorm" Support Bomber

Image

The Hailstorm is essentially a soviet-era "Phantom" jet that has been up-armored to enhance survivability as a ground attack bomber. While the additional armor makes the Sf-21 less than ideal for dog fighting, it is a highly capable bomber and strike craft. Incorporating the best elements of Swedish, French, and German jetfighters first deployed in the early 21st century, the Hailstorm is one of the most powerful bombers ever developed. Hailstorms were originaly designed to support Coalition State missions but, as demand for a air-to-air combat fighter soared, Anvil Arms phased into the Broadsword.
