Airport Manager: Harris Worthford

Operator: Aeroco

Airport History:
Matthew Woods International Airport started out as a small temporary airfield used by the New Ecopian Air Force during the Great Ecopian War in 1935 to evacuate civilians, in 1940 the war ended civilians returned to the area using the airfield as the years passed the local air traffic increased significantly. In 1945 The local government decided to upgrade the airfield by placing a permanent structure, ATC facilities and two paved runways which later was named as Ecopia Airport which handled domestic flights from around the nation. In 1947 the permanent structure was rebuilt and latter named Terminal A due to increased passenger demands to travel, by 1948 the ATC and airport facilities was upgraded to cope with the ever increasing flights. In 1950 Terminal A was rebuild but increased in size which later lead to the birth of Terminal B to handle international flights but Terminal A still handles domestic flights latter Ecopia Airport was renamed to Ecopia International Airport.

By 1989 Terminal A was extended to 20 gates while Terminal B was extended to 50 gates and two additional runways was built to handle the ever growing passenger numbers, ATC and airport facilities was upgraded once again.
7 years later the two terminals was renovated to improve passenger satisfaction, safety and comfort and by 1999 Terminal B was extended to 100 gates and handled 15,000,000 passengers.
Sadly on the 16 January 2004 at 12:00 am NEST an explosion in the arrivals hall caused a huge fireball that ripped through Terminal A and B but luckily the airport was empty, emergency services tried there best to contain the blaze but with no luck the fire raged on for hours by 4 am NEST the fire finally dies. At 5 am the Ecopian Intelligence Association arrived on seen to investigate the charred remains of the terminal building surprisingly enough the reason for the explosion was caused by faulty transistors and the company responsible for the transistors was fined for NE$95,000,000. The new president of New Ecopia Matthew Woods endorsed the Ecopia International Airport Rebuild Scheme and placed forward a generous sum of NE$195,000,000, by late 2005 the newly constructed airport was completed with ultra modern facilities and state of the art materials and renamed to Matthew Woods International Airport named after the generous and compassionate president.

In 2009 the airport handled 79,500,000 passengers and Terminal B was extended to 150 gates.

Today the airport has handled 85,000,000 passengers
