Maltropian Cargo International is a major Paradoxian shipping company headquartered in the Royal Kingdom of Maltropia. Operating principally out of Argensborough International Tradeport, the Port of Corcaigh Nua and Sráid-bhó Harbour, it ships throughout Paradoxia and serves several major international trade routes from Maltropia.

Even in these turbulent, recessionary times, MCI continues to ship what you need, when you need it, for affordable prices. We will never charge you more than it costs to send a comparable package by post. MCI is committed to the preservation of the environment. To prove it, we only use clean diesel fuel to power our vessels, secured from our corporate partner, Pratt & Ronn Oil. We do not pass this on in the form of higher prices, to you, however, and will always do out utmost to keep our prices fair and affordable.

If you have a small package or delivery that requires speedy transport, please visit the website of our partner, ViZionair Cargo. Customers who exclusively use ViZionair Cargo for their shipping needs can also avail of a 5% discount here. The same applies to our customers at their website.

Fleet and Shipping Information
Image
The LM Slieve Mish being loaded in port.

At present, MCI's fleet consists of sixty seven post-Panamax container ships. These ships have a TEU capacity of 12,000, and with a fifty-metre beam are too wide for most canal systems, better suited to open water cargo shipping.

The fleet also includes thirty nine crane-equipped Sejanus-class container ships, with a TEU capacity of 5,300, built by Maltropian firm Maritime Imperial. These vessels are sufficiently small to pass through most major canals and conform to the proposed Colimax standard.

Oil shipments, and the delivery of other liquid cargoes, are carried aboard our four recently purchased Muscovy-class supertankers, designed and built by Philadelphia Shipbuilding Corporation. These impressive vessels have a maximum cargo capacity of 685,480 tonnes of oil, thereby allowing the efficient delivery of large quantities of fuel.

MCI also operates four Ardenfontein-class icebreakers, purchased from Maltropian-based shipwrights' firm Ardnacrusha Naval Yards. These vessels are used to keep our sea lanes free of ice in cold weather.

All cargo ships are geared for carrying containers of dimensions 20' by 8' by 8' 6", or a volume of 2,720 cubic feet. In general, we will not transport in any form other than TEU intermodal containers. The standard rate for this form of transport is, at present, NSD 275 per container. All shipments of more than 25 containers will receive a discount of 10%.

History

Maltropian Cargo International was founded in 1843 under the trading name "McCarthy and Sons Freight". The firm was then, as now, a family-run business, owned by James McCarthy who would deliver cargo for citizens of Corcaigh Nua throughout northwest Paradoxia aboard a tall ship leased from the Royal Navy. By 1850, he had earned sufficient money to purchase the ship outright, and within a few years had expanded his business to four fast corvettes.

By 1900 the grandchildren of James owned a dozen ships and had built a pier in Argensborough's extensive docklands, creating what would become the firm's second largest base of operations. The stretch of ocean between Corcaigh Nua and Argensborough became among the busiest in Maltropia, as other firms entered the market to compete with McCarthy and Sons. Despite the intense rivalry, McCarthy and Sons had a head start on the new entrants and remained ahead in size and revenue. In 1942 they officially changed the business' name to Maltropian Cargo International and began the first commercial deliveries outside of Paradoxia. This also marked the beginning of MCI's buying of steel ships, gradually replacing the wooden vessels by 1962. In 1989 the firm placed its largest ever order, for twenty five steel-hulled cargo ships, all of which remain in service today.

Dear Mr. Driton,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the establishment of a new route between the ports of Sharon and Good Hope. MCI would be honoured to serve this route, and will gladly transport the desired goods aboard our vessels.

Because neither of the specified ports are currently hubs of MCI, the route we will be establishing will begin and conclude in Corcaigh Nua, Maltropia, passing through Sharon and Good Hope on its route. This should enable us to serve both ports, delivering goods to and between your harbours and returning with cargoes from your nation from Maltropia. Hopefully this will be a significant stimulus to the economies of both nations and help counteract the slowing of economic growth.

Thank you for your business with Maltropian Cargo International. I hope it has been as satisfactory for you as it has been for us.
Regards,
Philip McCarthy

ViZionair Cargo
On Time, All The Time!

Mr. Philip McCarthy,

Hello from ViZionair Cargo! As a leading aerial cargo company and part of ViZionair, the world's largest airline, we have very far-flung reach. Because of this, I have a proposal that I know will benefit both Maltropian Cargo International and ViZionair Cargo.

We are interested in becoming partners with Maltropian Cargo International. In this partnership, your customers in need of aerial shipments will use ViZionair Cargo, while our customers who have larger shipments requiring the use of large sea vessels will use Maltropian Cargo International.

ViZionair Cargo has many large customers, including being the only way of shipment for ViZion World Corporation. However, ViZion World Corporation currently has to outsource sea-going shipments. This will provide a massive boost right away for you given the sheer size of ViZion World Corporation and its shipments.

This will give your customers and our customers easier shipment options, while providing both of our companies with a boost in sales we otherwise may lose to our competitors.

Please let me know if this is of interest to you.

Thank you,

Marcus McVibe

Dear Mr. Driton,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the possibility of a partnership with ViZionair Cargo. To be honest, I had not expected such a proposal. I was aware of your leading presence in the field of worldwide cargo transport, and had assumed we would be competitors. Your offer is one which certainly intrigues us, and we can readily see how our firm might benefit from it, as would yours.

For that reason, we have elected to agree to your offer. We will provide a link to your own website to direct the attention of our customers to it, and hope you do something similar. I hope our partnership proves greatly prosperous for both our firms. Thank you.

Mr. Philip McCarthy,

You are correct in that, at initial glance, we would appear to be competitors. However, customers who use your services have very different needs than that of those who use our services. Given the fact that you operate strictly by sea, and we operate strictly by air, the overlap of client needs is minimal, and that is why I feel this is of great benefit to both.

I will indeed direct our customers to your website should they need sea vessel shipments. I would also like to propose an offer to our customers, being a 5% discount on shipments should they select both of our companies as primary or exclusive shipment companies. As such, our customers who elect to use you as their primary or exclusive by-sea shipments will receive 5% off their Maltropian Cargo International shipments, and your customers who select us as their primary or exclusive aerial shipment choice will receive 5% off their ViZionair Cargo shipments.

Please let me know if this will work for you, and thank you again for your time.

Dear Mr. Driton,
Thank you for your follow-up letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding a corporate partnership. I do see your logic, and have to agree with you. It makes sense for our two highly-specialised firms to interact so closely with one another, and I thank you for taking the initiative to do so.

The idea of a discount is one acceptable to us. Hopefully it will prove sufficient a draw to new customers to be worthwhile.

Finally, I wish to advise you that, should you wish to serve similar routes to those we offer, you would do well to seek gates at Argensborough International Tradeport and Aerfort Idirnáisúnta Chorcaí Nua, though I believe the latter is currently full and seeking expansion from your compatriot-firm Armstrong Construction. Nonetheless, the former is a major trading up, and one from which we are constantly operating. It is not one you would want to miss out on.

Official Nation Name: Mercantile Federal republic of the Aurora Confederacy
Customer name (if different): N/A
Types of goods to be transported: ALL types
Name of Port: South Sands Martime Trading Port
Destination Ports: Shreaid Bho
Number of Moorings: 8

South Sands Nuclear would like to invite The Matropian Shipping line MCI to the port of South Sands. We have four large quay sections with two moorings each, giving a total of 8 moorings for ships upto 300m in length, Quay 5 is dedictated to South Sands Nuclear and PNTL nuclear fuel transports for the powerstation. Container ships can use quays 1,2 and 4, vehicle carriers are allocated quay 3 as this is closest to the Diamond Star factory.

The caveat with South Sands, just like any port in the Auroran nation is ice. In severe winters, despite the cooling system from the nuclear power station expelling waste heat into the harbour from the secondary cooling circuit, in particularly heavy winters, the port can freeze over, therefore We recommend that your vessels are capable of pushing through ice and are on a dedicated Aurora - Maltropia route to avoid schedule damage caused by ships being trapped in ice.

Yours Sincerely

Dear Mr. Andersson,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the possibility of opening a new hub port in South Sands. I am glad to say the Board of Directors here at MCI is strongly considering your application. We have no problem with ice blocking sea lanes; as a northern nation ourselves, we well know what it is like to have icy seas, and are already investigating the possibility of purchasing ice-breaking ships to ensure that our lanes remain clear.

While we consider your proposal, we would appreciate a brief explanation of what benefits we would receive from operating to South Sands. While I gather that it is a major port in your nation, I fail to see the benefit of setting up large-scale operations just to sail to one Maltropian port, and feel that you should either request more routes or consider stepping down your invitation to simply be a new Route rather than a new Hub.

In recent years, trade between the Dominion of the Lubyak, and nations within Paradoxia has increased rapidly, and we hope to develop opportunities for further increases in trade between Lubyakan ports, and ports within the region of Paradoxia. In order to do this, we would like to offer Maltropian Cargo International a potential new trade hub out of the Lubyakan port of Vostroya.

Vostroya is a port and industrial city in the western end of the Lubyak's Rota Valley industrial region, and one of the major exporting centers within the Dominion. The Port of Vostroya is a deep water port with easy access to shipping lanes to the rest of the region and beyond. Vostroya is tied in to heavy infrastructure links which extend throughout the entirity of the Rota Valley region, ensuring easy access to export goods.

We have attached our application for the opening of a new trade center, and hope that you give it due consideration.

The National Agricultural Import Association buys and imports to Radictistan types of fruit and vegetable which are not grown in Radictistan for economic or climate-related reasons. The NAIA is always seeking to increase its sources of supply. Maltropian Cargo International has been selected to provide transport services for some of these imports. The NAIA will require that these goods be shipped in refrigerated containers to ensure that they remain fresh and sellable until they reach the shores of Radictistan.

A key ingredient to the success of any shipping company is the availability of skilled and inexpensive mariners to operate its ships. Radictistan's maritime academies and other training programs are constantly producing men and women qualified to take their place onboard Radictistani and foreign ships, who will work at a fraction of the salary of those from developed nations. Enkelstat Human Resources can provide labor brokerage services to Maltropian Cargo International for the procurement of up to eight hundred licensed and unlicensed Radictistani mariners. The global econonomic downturn has led to considerable unemployment from the reduced volume of global trade. The time to lock-in new labor contracts is now. Enkelstat Human Resources can help.

Dear Ms. Octana,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the possibility of opening a new hub port in Vostroya. I am glad to say the Board of Directors here at MCI has, after some debate, chosen to accept your offer and to establish a major presence in the Lubyak. We feel that serving sea routes between Paradoxia and your representated nation will benefit us hugely, and provide you with a valuable economic boost as we link your port with the larger harbours in Maltropia and the rest of the region. To begin with, we will serve routes from Vostroya to Corcaigh Nua and Argensborough, capitals of Maltropia and the Maltropian Islands, respectively. I earnestly believe these routes will be of tremendous benefit to us all. Thank you for your time.

Dear sir,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the possibility of initiating new routes to Brightburg. I am glad to say the Board of Directors here at MCI has chosen to accept your offer and to begin operating on the requested routes. We feel that serving sea routes between Maltropia and your representated nation will benefit us hugely, and provide you with a valuable economic boost as we link your port with the specified harbours in Maltropia.

Regarding the NAIA's request for refrigerated containers, I am sure we will be able to locate and use these in the delivery of those goods for which you have expressed a desire to ship.

Moving on to the message from Enkelstat Human Resources, I must say that I am quite interested by their proposition, as is the Board of Directors. We are constantly seeking to expand our services, and with the recent addition of several new international routes we may well need to employ additional crewmen and such aboard our vessels in order to keep them constantly operable. We would be deeply interested in taking on as many as seven-score mariners from your nation, regardless of any licenses they may have. We ask that you send us portfolios and/or resumés of the potential candidates, that we may review and select those we most wish to hire. We will then send representatives to Radictistan to conduct the possible business of hiring, should we deem it appropriate.

Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Philip McCarthy

Dear Mr. Kymar,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the delivery of certain cargoes to the port of Ardnacrusha, Maltropia. I am glad to say we have approved your request and that the specified goods will shortly be despatched from South Sands aboard our container ships. With regard to your concern for a special vessel to deliver the vehicles, I must regretfully inform you we have no such ship. We can, however, modify a ship to allow us to safely carry vehicles with little risk of them coming loose, and we will work closely with engineers at South Sands to ensure precision in such a conversion. If this particular deal becomes in anyway regular we may consider the possibility of making the conversion permanent.

Lastly, please be aware that your cheque for the sum of 40,000 NSD has been received in full and lodged in our accounts. Thank you for your custom.

Dear sir,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the possibility of opening a new hub port in Kelowna Harbour. I regret to to say that the Board of Directors here at MCI is not particularly considering your application, as we do not believe it is necessary for us to serve it as a hub port when it will only connect us to Maltropian harbours. That said, we may well reconsider if you can provide further information on the benefits we would receive from operating to Kelowna. While I gather that it is a major port in your nation, I fail to see the benefit of setting up large-scale operations just to sail to our nation, and feel that you should either request more routes or consider stepping down your invitation to simply be a new Route rather than a new Hub.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

I fully understand the reasons and concerns you have expressed, and will make sure the vessel and its captain are appropriately informed. Please advise them as to a course of action once they approach their destination, whether it be to simply wait out the storm outside the area or to attempt to move into a sheltered region temporarily. Dear sir,
Thank you for your recent letter to Maltropian Cargo International regarding the possible expansion of our services to ports within the Constitutional Federal Republic of ViZion. It is my pleasure to inform you that the Board of Directors here at MCI is strongly considering your invitation, as Maltropia's strong economic links with ViZion have seen a distinct rise in the amount of shipping between our two nations. As it stands, we would consider the option deeply beneficial, and are investigating the logistics of setting up multiple operative bases within ViZion. We will get back to you at your own website as soon as we have finalised our decision.
