Performance. Reliability. Efficiency. During the days of the Gordonopian Republic, the Celeron name came to symbolize the pinnacle of mechanical engineering. From jetliners to recreational aircraft, Celeron filled the skies over Gordonopia and beyond. Now, that legacy takes a new form: Celeron General Aeronautics (CGA).

As a part of the Imperial Gordonopia Corporation, organized following United Gordonopia's War of Restoration, CGA is the primary supplier of commercial aircraft throughout the Empire. Like its predecessor, CGA fields a diverse fleet of aircraft, ranging from small private jets built for a dozen to long range jumbo jetliners seating hundreds of passengers. These designs combine innovative industrial and mechanical engineering with the vertically integrated supply line offered through the state-run Imperial Gordonopia Corporation. Not only can CGA's designs compete with or beat competitors from around the globe, but they can obtained for a price unmatched within the industry.

Now, CGA looks to expand beyond Gordonopian borders and compete on the global stage, as Celeron once did. As it grows, CGA will seek not only customers, but lasting partnerships with airlines and governments around the world. Thanks to a Royal Charter for Commerce, CGA is unique among Imperial Gordonopia Corporation's divisions in that it is permitted to conduct business not only with nations in regions such as Greater Dienstad and Tetrakon, but across the globe.

The Celeron E100 is a narrow-body, short-mid range airliner designed as the first Celeron airliner in the Republican era. Within its role, the E100 is a strong contender by any measure, with an emphasis on efficiency and cost.

Image

Image

The design precursor to the E100, the Celeron 237, was initially intended to be a replacement for the Celeron 207 jetliner that had been in service 1985. However, the nationwide upheaval that came with the War of Restoration caused the design to be tabled, as Celeron assets were diverted to first the Republican, and later the Monarchist war effort. Following the Monarchist victory, and the re-establishment of the Empire, Celeron Aeronautics and its recent owner, Gordonopian Enterprises, were absorbed into the newly organized Imperial Gordonopia Corporation. Almost immediately, the C237 design was brought back to the drafting room, and work resumed.

Rather than simply continue with the same principles of the original design, a number of changes were made to the newly renamed E100. The fuselage was lengthened to take advantage of the increased thrust offered by the recently developed CGA-TF10 turbofan, which allowed more passengers than permitted by the original design. The First Class section envisioned by the Republican-era Celeron was scaled back, bringing it more in line with the ‘business classes offered on larger aircraft. Not only did this fit with some of the ideals espoused by the new Imperial regime, it allowed for even more passengers than before. Finally, thanks to the aforementioned CGA-TF10, the performance of the aircraft was boosted over the 237’s design, allowing for greater efficiency, speed and range.

After completing the design, the renamed Celeron General Aeronautics (CGA) built several prototypes, while simultaneously taking orders from the few Gordonopian airlines that had survived the war. Following the testing phase, production began at CGA’s main plant in Deska. The first order was delivered to Union Gordonopia Airlines, a fellow division of the Imperial Gordonopia Corporation that currently controls 62% of the domestic airline market that the E100 is designed for.

Image

The airframe of the E100 represents the first aircraft in the Celeron family to be built primarily of composite materials, most notable carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP). The frame itself is built using panels with lateral splices, which Celeron views as less risky than the barrel approach used by some modern aircraft. Construct
Image
The E100 Undercarriage
ion elements such as door and window frames are integrated into the panels, which allows for a more efficient manufacturing process.

The wing of the E100 is also designed from carbon fiber composites as well as aluminum alloys for structure. The wings themselves are swept to a 25 degree angle, with a six degree dihedral angle. While the light alloys allow for a lighter design, reducing fuel consumption, the angle setup is fairly traditional, providing stability. The wingtips of the E100 are upward wingtips, the thrust from which provides a further increase in efficiency.

The undercarriage of the E100 uses ten retractable wheels. The front wheel unit, located near the nose of the aircraft, uses the two-wheel one-axel design. The rear sets are in the middle of the fuselage, utilizing a four-wheel design for greater stability in landings.

Image
Image
Sample Interior

The interior of the E100 represents a leap in industrial design over both the aircrafts predecessors and its global competitors. A number of enhancements have been made, ranging from the aesthetics to the entertainment options that make flying on an E100 superior to any other aircraft in its class.

Within the passenger cabin, the changes are immediately apparent. LED mood lighting is used to provide practical comfort for the passengers on board. Pivoting overhead bins allow for greater storage than traditional compartments. Larger windows give passengers a better view and the aircraft a more open feel.

When a passenger sits down, further improvements become obvious. The personal service unit has been revamped to eliminate the blocky, vintage feel of many older models. Buttons for illuminating overhead LEDs and calling flight attendants are rounded out, as is the illuminated overhead sign. Rather than protruding, air outlets are flush with the rest of the panel, while each PSU has a built-in speaker to allow for greater clarity of directions, and to allow for flight crews to speak directly to specific passengers. In addition to the PSU, all seats include a USB port and power outlet, and the plane is wired to allow for Wi-Fi connectivity.
Image
The Cruise OS With Celeron Styling

The optional ‘Cruise’ entertainment package provides another innovative addition to the E100. The package includes a 10 in. touch LCD screen in the rear of every seat, as well as a headphone jack connector. Built into the package is the integrated CruiseOS, which provides an easy gateway to several options for entertainment. The system is designed to handle up to two dozen films, a library of as many as 3,000 songs which can be divided into ‘stations’, 200 television programs, with the option to connect to satellite broadcasting, a moving-map system, and a game-console. Included with Cruise is a custom-built software version of the Cronos Elite game console, originally created by Gordonopian Games but currently distributed by Imperial Computer Technologies. Licenses to ten games, including sports, family-friendly, and action titles, are included, as are controllers which may be distributed by flight crews.

The E100 also works to make the jobs of crews easier. In addition to standard kitchens for flight attendants, the E100 includes two touch LCD panels, three for two class aircraft. The panel includes basic features, such as the ability to change the lighting throughout the aircraft, in addition to new, unique features. Through the panel, and integrated speaker and microphone, attendants can speak directly with passengers in specific rows, or with the Cruise package, specific seats. When the attendant service button is pressed by passengers, the signal goes directly to the panel, rather than sending a noise throughout the cabin.
Image
Cockpit of the E100

The attendant panel works even better when synced with CruiseOS. The Cruise system includes a menu screen, and if desired, the screen can be used to order food and beverages directly from flight attendants. This can, if desired, eliminate the need to spend part of the flight taking and filling food and beverage orders. The system also includes a credit swiper, which can be used to pay for food, beverages, and entertainment options before the flight attendant delivers them. When a purchase is made, the information is displayed on the attendant’s panel, and the order can be filled. The swiper can also be used to replace in-flight catalogs, which can be integrated into the CruiseOS platform.

The cockpit of the E100 also represents a step up from its predecessors. The cockpit is uses all-glass instruments, with a layout that can be customized by airlines. Furthermore, it includes an advanced fly-by-wire system, governed by flight-control laws, with the emergency option to override.

Image

The E100 uses the high-bypass CGA-TF10 turbofan as its method of propulsion. Work on the TF10 began in the early months following the reorganization of Celeron as Celeron General Aeronautics; however progress was initially slow due to a lack of capital resources. When it became apparent, though, that Celeron would need to radically overhaul its hardware if it wanted to make a successful reentry into the world market, significant human and financial resources were committed to the project, and by the time the structural design for the E100 was complete, the TF10’s design was ready to enter the prototype phase.

The engine itself was designed to deliver both superb fuel efficiency and thrust. Using lightweight composite materials, such as a carbon fiber and epoxy resin case, the engine maintains a high power to weight ratio, while the use of a blisk fan helps increase efficiency and reduce maintenance costs. Additionally, the engine was designed to maintain a high-bypass ratio of around 10:1. Toothed exhaust duct covers give the engine a distinctive look, and significantly reduce noise.

The E100 begins with a base price of 72 million USD. This includes the airframe, engines and interior. For 73.5 million USD, the aircraft will be modified to a two class layout, with an additional space for a kitchen and lavatory.

Additionally, for four million USD, the aircraft can be fitted with the Cruise in-flight entertainment package. This allows for the aircraft to be used to its maximum ability, and provides a top-class entertainment package for a reasonable price.

Several factors are involved in bringing the E100’s list price below that of competing aircraft. One aspect is nature of Celeron General Aeronautics as a division of the state-owned Imperial Gordonopia Corporation. This allows for a vertical integration situation, whereby CGE can obtain the raw materials it needs to construct the E100 at a significantly reduced price. Another factor is the War of Restoration. The chaos caused by the war, and the subsequent re-organization of Celeron, cut off many of the earlier R&D costs for the aircraft. This meant that the costs associated with designing the E100 were more on modifying a pre-existing design, rather than starting from scratch. Finally, CGE has also chosen to buck common practice when displaying the list price of its aircraft. Through negotiations with airlines, manufacturers often reduce the price-per-aircraft by as much as 30 or 40%. Some of this negotiated discount is already factored in to the list price, giving airlines a strong footing for further negotiations.

The E100 is available for export to any nation not blacklisted by the Empire of United Gordonopia. As is common practice, customers must bring their pilots to United Gordonopia to pick up their purchase. However, due to the distance some airlines may have to travel, Celeron General Aeronautics has secured permission from the Gordonopian government for customers to receive complementary stops and refueling at any Gordonopian territory en-route to the airline’s hub. To order, please fill out the form found on the main page of Celeron's website.

From: Lord Jonathon Strong, Celeron General Aeronautics
Subject: Celeron E100 Jetliner

Greetings!

I am contacting you today because your airline is among the fast growing, successful airlines that are leading the industry into the future. Though relatively new to the global stage, you have already found considerable expansion for a wide variety of reasons. Celeron General Aeronautics would like to add one more.

What CGA offers is an opportunity to separate your airline from the pack. How many airlines fill their fleets with the same Airbus and Boeing models that every one of their competitors also flies? As a returning competitor to the global stage, Celeron brings with it new new aircraft that are not only superior in performance and efficiency, but also in price.

Due to Celeron's recent re-emergance as a global brand, only a single model has been given clearance from the Gordonopian government for export. This aircraft, the E100, is designed to beat the Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 families in a variety of categories.
(Image)
The E100 in Celeron Livery

To begin with, the E100 offers superior fuel efficiency than the 737 and 320 families, bringing costs down for your airline. This efficiency is also used to extend the range and increase the speed of the aircraft, allowing for better routes. The E100 is also available with the state-of-the art Cruise in flight entertainment package, providing your passengers with the most enjoyable flight possible. Perhaps best of all, the E100 beats its competitors in price, thanks in part to Celeron's status as a division of the state-run Imperial Gordonopia Corporation, which provides it with greatly discounted access to logistics chains and raw materials.

As Celeron expands, I hope that you will watch for our future aircraft, which will include a wide body supersonic jetliner, along with more traditional models. For now, though, I hope that you consider the E100 for the next addition to your growing fleet.

If you would like to order, pay a visit to Celeron General Aeronautics' storefront. There, you will find the full info on the E100, as well as info on our company and on how to purchase the E100, either at base price, or with a negotiated deal.

Lord Strong,

I am writing in regards to your correspondence relating to the E100 Jetliner received via the Arcadian Air website, which I have included with this message.

Whilst Arcadian Air is tentatively interested in approximately twenty to thirty E100 aircraft, before committing to such a purchase we are interested in what support services are provided by Celeron General Aeronautics; specifically what Material, Fleet, Flight and/or Information services are provided. Of particular interest is what (if any) flight crew training is provided by CGA. The current Arcadian Air fleet is designed to minimise the differences in flight decks/systems and associated training costs for flight crews and flight attendants, and there are concerns regarding the costs of crew training for a new aircraft.

I look forward to hearing from you regarding the above.

Yours Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Askrow,

I am delighted that you have elected to place an order with Celeron General Aeronautics as one of the first international customers of the E100. As our companies expand, I am hopeful that this may develop into a long and prosperous business relationship.

Regarding your order, your are correct that the list price will come to 3.1 Billion USD. As a show of good will, though, for your prompt order, I have been permitted to offer you the Cruise add on for no extra charge. This brings your final cost to 2.94 Billion USD. At our current rate of production, Destiny's aircraft will begin coming off the line in one month's time, with two per day being available, giving your order a completion date of 50 days. You may either pick up the airliners as they come off the line, or wait until the order is completed.

Once again, I want to thank you for choosing the E100 as the next addition to Destiny's fleet. I am confident that you will be more than satisfied with the E100 as it carries your passengers around the world.

Dear Mr. Hart,

It is great to hear that your airline has an interest in the E100 Jetliner, and I believe that I can satisfy your concerns.

As would be standard with any airline order, Celeron provides a full array of training materials, including instructional videos, brochures, and full instructional literature. We understand, though, that you wish to reduce the costs of transitioning to a new aircraft as much as possible. On the payroll of Celeron are a number of trained pilots, flight attendants and technicians. Not only do these personnel aid in the development of aircraft designs, but they also help fill a training role. They currently only have experience with domestic airlines, but we would be willing to offer, at no extra cost, the service of two pilots, four flight attendants and four ground crewmen for every four E100s ordered. These staff would be on contract for two months following the delivery of each four aircraft. These personnel could be used in whatever capacity you choose. They could simply be used to train your existing staff, or they could be spread throughout your current workforce, allowing for your staff to learn on the job from crewmen familiar with the aircraft.

I hope this arrangement would satisfy your needs, and I hope that I will hear back from you soon.

Subject: Re:E100 Order

Dear Mr. Barron,

I am would like to thank you for being one of the first international customers of the E100.

Your order itself will actually come to a total of 3.875 billion USD, rather than the 4 billion you stated. To bring your costs down, though, as a gesture of goodwill for being an early customer, Celeron is willing to offer the Cruise add on at no extra charge, bringing your final cost to 3.675 billion USD. At our current rate of production, your aircraft should begin coming off the line in a one month's time, with two per day being available, giving your order a total completion date of 55 days. You may either pick up the airliners as they come off the line, or wait until the order is completed.

Again, I want to thank you for choosing the E100 as the next addition to Avantarrian's fleet. I am sure that you will be more than satisfied with the E100 as it carries your passengers around the world. Hopefully, this transaction can blossom into a long and profitable business relationship.

To: Lord Jonathon Strong, Head of Intl Sales, Celeron General Aeronautics
Subject: RE: RE: E100 Order

Lord Strong,

Thank you for your response which has alleviated any concerns previously held; I would like to accept the generous offer for two pilots, four flight attendants and four ground crewmen (two month placement) for every four E100s ordered. As a result, I submit the following for your consideration;
  • An immediate order from Arcadian Air for twenty four E100 aircraft - Economy Only - @ 62.5 million USD per aircraft, total 1.5 billion USD.
  • A guaranteed future order from Arcadian Air for a further sixteen E100 aircraft - Economy Only - @ 62.5 million USD per aircraft, total 1 billion USD, to be exercised within three financial years.
The expenditure for this order has been approved and payment is able to be transferred into your nominated account within twenty four hours. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the above proposal, and hope an agreement can be reached as Arcadian Air looks to build a long-term business partnership with Celeron General Aeronautics.

Yours Sincerely,

Dear Sir,

Please refer to your latest letter addressed to the headquarters of Air Liberte. Though we are currently not interseted in purchasing the E-100, we currently face a shortage of long haul airliners for our expanding long distance international services. Having read about the soon to be announced E300 Jumbo liners, Air Liberte would like to tentitavely announce its intentions to purchase 5 such aircrafts. Please inform us about the price, range and other specifications of the aircraft so the order can be finalised.

Yours Sincerely,
Morphieus de Haan.

Dear Mr. Hart,

Your proposal would be more than satisfactory, and as a show of thanks for thinking of Celeron as a partner for future growth, I would like to improve on your offer.

The immediate order will come to, as you said, 1.5 billion USD. These aircraft can begin production very soon, and the order should be complete within fifty days. For your guaranteed advance order, Celeron is prepared to give offer a 12% discount, bringing the cost to 880 million USD. These aircraft can begin production when you choose to exercise.

I too hope that this contract may evolve into a long-term partnership. I will be sure to keep Arcadian Air informed as Celeron releases future designs, and should you be interested, perhaps even arrange an international launch customer agreement.

Subject: Re:E300 inquiry

Dear Mr. de Haan,

The E300 is Celeron's upcoming jumbo jetliner designed to compete with the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380 families. The design itself is not yet finalized, and although it has been announced as being in development, full specifications are not yet available, and the design has not been finalized. When released, it is expected that the aircraft will carry as low as 500 passengers for a three-class layout, and as many as 640 for a single class design. The range of the aircraft should be between 18,000 and 20,000 km, although it is possible that that will be slightly extended. We expect the price of the aircraft at this point to be between 280 million and 300 million for the base model.

As you are interested in long-haul aircraft, I would like to also inform you about the E400, which is significantly further in development than the E300. The E400 is a smaller aircraft, but is designed to have the furthest range of any airliner in the world. Considering the significant distances often present in the world, the mentality behind the E400 is to make it the world's first truly global aircraft. The target range for the aircraft is approximately 36,000 km, giving it a significantly longer range than any aircraft on the market. This would permit the E400 to fly across vast regions, from Greater Dienstad to as far as Gholgoth, non-stop. The aircraft would be designed to carry around 270 passengers, and would be priced at around 260 million.

If you are interested in either of these aircraft, be sure to let me know.

Lord Jonathon Strong,

Thank you for your letter earlier to point us to your fleet. Motokatan Airways is always looking to expand further with new technology to better suit our needs and the needs of our passengers. We would like to begin new contract opportunities with your company and begin adding new craft to our expanding fleet. As Motokata Airways continues to expand operations globally, we feel a new fleet will help us to grow larger and faster. Enclosed is the proper paperwork to begin our new orders. As of now it remains a small order to begin acquainting our mechanics and pilots with the new equipment and to continue honoring our current deal with Boeing until such time our contract expires we will closely evaluate the inclusion of these new craft to determine how they work within our fleet, though we are very confident it will meet our needs.

Thank you for your business,
Kazuya Ando
CEO

Dear Mr. Ando,

I am thrilled that you have chosen Celeron as a partner for the future growth of your company.

The list price of your order, at the base model of the E100, would come to 5.04 billion USD. However, due to the size of your order, and taking into consideration the growth potential for airline's future, I have been authorized to offer you the CruiseOS model at no extra charge, a savings of 210 million USD were you to have purchased it, as well as a reduction in costs to a flat five billion. Your aircraft should begin production in a months time, and within two months your order should be fully complete.

I look forward to working with you in the future.

Subject: RE: RE: RE: RE: E100 Order

Lord Strong,

Firstly I would like to sincerely apologise for the delay in reply to your previous correspondence; please let me assure you it was not a deliberate delay or intended slight by any means. I have unfortunately spent the past few days in fervent negotiations with the Arcadian Pilots Association which has kept me away from other pressing responsibilities.

I would like to express my sincere thanks for the generous terms of sale, and have organised the transfer of the agreed sum of 1.5b (R2.8b) USD to your nominated account. I look forward to taking delivery of the first E100s and incorporating them into the Arcadian Air domestic/regional fleet.

Additionally, I am interested in the 'international launch customer agreement' that you mentioned in your previous missive. If you could provide any additional details of the terms of such an arrangement it would be greatly appreciated; would such a partnership simply involve a right of first purchase on future models, or would there be further benefits such as options for customised designs of future models (such as customised engines/layouts or range, pax, MTOW capabilities etc.).

Naturally conditional of their full design details being made available, I can pleasantly advise that Arcadian Air would likely be interested in future purchases of the E300, E400/C400, and Havlon 1. Whilst I have personal interest in the E200S Supersonic Jetliner as an aviation enthusiast, I am hesitant as to its possible suitability for the AA fleet but will certainly explore this in detail when the information is available.

Yours Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Hart,

I fully understand the responsibilities that come with a position such as yours, having been a former airline executive myself. I hope that your negotiations went well, and I am glad that your order can be finalized.

With regards to the offer of becoming an international launch customer, such an agreement would entail several benefits. Although the first launch customer of all of Celeron's aircraft is Union Gordonopia Airlines, a fellow division of the Imperial Gordonopia Corporation that currently serves only domestic markets, your airline would be among the first to launch any new Celeron design. With this would come a significant discount rate, fleet integration services similar to those we offered your airline for the E100, and a level of input into the design process. As the design of an aircraft that you are interested in progresses, you will be notified, and should you have a feature that you wish to be considered or altered, your opinion will be taken into account.

Should you have a further interest in this agreement, don't hesitate to let me know.

Best,
