Veil class Interdiction Frigate
The Veil class Interdiction Frigate takes advantage of FTLi technology for tactical defense purposes. In particular, the Veil is a well-designed escort or convoy vessel, since when operational, the FTL Inhibitor prevents attackers from close FTL ambush. The ship was built to meet the needs of the Xiscapian Imperial Navy in its anti-piracy efforts.

Sensors, Communications and Equipment
The Veil is equipped with a sensor suite almost identical to the Dusky class, but with the AN/SPQ-22 EM Scan Array, which gives it additional multifunction phased array radar and close-to-medium range search/identification/tracking capabilities.
External communications are done through the AN/SZC-2 Subspace Transceiver and the AN/SRC-104 Radio tower. The subspace communications requires more power and generates higher emissions, but the signal is instantaneous; radio is far more conventional and functions effectively at short ranges or non-immediate situations.
Of key interest is the Veil's Faster-Than-Light Inhibitor (FTLi) Device, which when operative prevents FTL entry within a variable radius of up to a few tens of thousands of kilometers (depending on the circumstances, FTL drive type, power and other variables).
