Mobile Field Clinic(MeFiC) -Closed-

Postby Drackonisa » Sun Feb 12, 2012 9:19 pm

Introduction
It is inevitable that during the course of a war, that there will be unfortunate casualties. In modern warfare, it may not be feasible to medivac wounded in time to a field hospital to stabilize what would otherwise be survivable wounds. In addition, the use of helicopters not only puts the wounded at risk to enemy fire, but the medivac helicopter as well. In some instances, medivac helicopters were lost through enemy fire or simply unable to deliver their charges to proper facilities in time.

Therefore, in light of this situation, the Republic of Drackonisa has commissioned DATA to address this deficiency in the problem faced by the military. The solution derived was a fairly simple one, by having a mobile field hospital, capable of deploying in any combat zone they were able to effectively reduce battlefield casualties by a significant percentage. The MeFiC is capable of entering and following close to the front lines, enabling troops to quickly deliver wounded comrades to proper medical facilities to stabilize and treat battlefield sustained injuries.

Mobility
The field clinic is mounted onto a 7 tonner, 8 wheeled truck chassis, powered by a 280 HP engine. In total, the vehicle itself weighs up to 10 tons, depending on the equipment loadout. The suspensions utilizes a patented independent double wishbone suspension, for improved ground mobility and stability over the rough terrain. It is designed and capable of following infantry formations into most combat situations, possessing decent mobility both off- and on-road.

Capable of going up to 130kph, the MeFiC can easily keep pace with Mechanized and Combined Arms divisions of the Drackonisian Armed Forces.

Capabilities
With the main purpose of the unit being to stabilize and treat battlefield injuries swiftly and efficiently, the MeFiC comes complete with an array of medical equipment designed to deal with a wide range of battlefield injuries.

Some innovations include new field bandages with pressure applicator and new sterile seals for open chest wounds that prevent trapped air from accumulating in the lungs. Patients' vital data can also be sent to base camp, using transmitting devices through a secure intranet. For those requiring urgent surgery in the battlefield, they can be dispatched to a mobile surgery unit and operated on within two hours. The Mobile Field Clinic, which looks like a normal military truck, can be transformed into an Accident and Emergency station within 15 minutes.

The MeFiC has self contained advanced life support-systems, electricity and water supply. The unit consists of a portable facility mounted on a 7 ton truck carriage, capable of being deployed anywhere in the field. Powered by hydraulics, the facility can deploy a portable tentage area replete with surgical lights, sanitation area and ventilation capable of housing up to 20 casualties at any given time. All equipment are self contained and fully modular, enabling the MeFiC to customize its medical equipment efficiently to suit any given situation within minutes at a depot.

An Auxiliary Power Generator is also mounted to provide a backup supply in the event of an electrical failure, with a new slip ring which meets military standards for environment and radio interference suppression also installed. Reliability and maintainability of the electrical system has also been improved with the use of shrinkable polyolefin tubing to seal the electrical harnesses to protects the electrical system from oil, fuel and moisture element, reducing chances of electrical faults. The heat-retardant material also does not give off toxic fumes in the event of a fire. The harness is designed for easy maintainability where all sections can be quickly disconnected and replaced for repairs in the field.

The sanitation areas comes fully stocked with storage space for both chemical sanitation and heat sanitation for hygiene purposes. A deployable trough and drainage system can also be used to drain away blood and fluids from casualties.

The vehicle has space to comfortably hold up to 10 medical personnel at any given time, as well as space for 8 more battlefield casualties within its confines. Stretchers are mounted on racks, can be folded and stacked to maximize space efficiency. Transceivers mounted with the equipment also allow the medical personnel to access data on the wounded if they are equipped with the AWS, enabling them to quickly extract information such as blood type or any previous medical history to make swifter judgement which may mean the difference between life or death.

NBC suits are provided for medical personnel and are stored in a secure locker alongside the equipment in the event of a chemical weapon deployment.
