I wouldn't do that, if I were you. If the mods do hand out punishments for this, then you could be hit with them, as well. Assuming that you bid, of course.

I don't think that the mods will punish the people who bid normal amounts because that is sort of unfair. However, the people who bid tonnes and tonnes of money, then I think they should receive a punishment / warning.

No, they won't hand out punishments to those who bid normal amounts, and no, they are not oppressive, either.

In fairness, there may be some real RP value in an auction. Certainly not like we are seeing with these threads, however. But what if it was actually RPed to the point of why people were at the auction, what they may have come to try to buy or why they feel they need to buy a particular piece? What if there was a realistic auctioneer RP as one suggested?

As I mentioned, it is not what we got, so I get that it is a moot point. But maybe the discussion needs to turn to how we in the GE&T community can help shape an auction to such a RP thread where there is a legitimate storyline that comes into play through substantial posts rather than the current number spam? Ideas on how we can shape this?

I was thinking of doing that, I'm creating a bank (but its a very long process)... I could easily incorporate it... but I'm not experience enough to do so...

Also, how would someone ensure the validity of a bid? factbooks...?

What if the RP validated a bid? If somebody actually puts forth the effort to establish in the RP how they can justify a 14 quadrillion bid, then great. But for me, there sure as hell better be quite a bit of quality RP work invested to establish that as opposed to a bid of thirty bucks.

That would be enforcing RP etiquette, something we don't do. The same way we don't deal with god modding, power wanking and other undesirable RP behavior. Until an RP descends into asinine spam, its fine. The same is true for these "auction threads". Mentors and respected members of the community are more than welcome to contact these individuals and try and guide them towards more quality posting. Unless a thread is legit spam, which will be judged by a case by case basis, its fine. We don't all like the same things, and that doesn't make that other people like "bad"

In the mean time, I will set aside some time to have a look through some current threads and see if they do meet the definition of spam. However, if you were a looking for a ban on auction threads or something, its unlikely to happen.

The use of blind bidding might help, its not wholy suited to the idea of a more roleplayed traditional auction happening in one place but for bidding between large organisations/nations for bulk purchases it fits (also opens up the possibility of RPing espionage and tryign to find out what others have bid)

other than that yes, Roleplaying the thing out fully would help a lot particulalry if people to roleplay exactly who is at the auction and why or for whom they are bidding. Of course thats probbaly a bit more involved than those taking part in the current spate of such things (they come round every couple of years) are looking for.

How does one code those cool application forms so many storefronts have?

you can use
Code: Select all
tags. that's what I and alot of other people use.

^ that is the code to make code format hence this:

Code: Select all
Name of Nation:
Bla bla bla:
etc.:

I suggest looking around to get the best questions suited for your storefront and to use bolded questions. I'd also not stray too far with the questions - keep them as simple and less invasive as possible.

Thanks! I suspected the code tags had something to do with it...

No. It is YOUR storefront. However. If you plan on using any user created content (like say art or products around GE&T) you must ask their permission. You should also stay away from generally copying RL companies down to the atom. Otherwise you should be good. Just do try to put quality as one of your top priorities ;)

The missing letters are a slight annoyance, imo. The logo should be scaled down as well, as it looks like it might be affecting everything else, via stretching the page. You might have to adjust the rest of it after scaling down the logo, too.

Looks great, but there are some personal suggestions I might give.

The description of your various services look a bit lengthy. Not to say that these information are not important, but maybe more interesting designs can be put in. Maybe you can write them in point form, or emphasize certain parts, instead of just paragraph after paragraph. Pictures like the ones you have are nice too!

Then there is the size of the company. You have 1.4 million employees with 12 trillion USD market cap, it's more than any RL company that exists, and you dont have a single order yet… I mean in GE&T it's not about how big you say your company is, but rather in RP and service, and personally I'd rather grow the company and expand the stats slowly as I get more orders. :)

Yeah, I should have clarified, the employee count is including two subsidiary companies, a bank and a PMC. Those two have gotten business, but I put a lot of effort on this one so it's a little frustrating lol, but I appreciate your input :)
