Warhead: Tandem HEAT
Warhead weight: 5 kg
Maximum range: 9,800 m
Guidance system: Semi-active laser homing

The Type 92 is a semi-active laser homing anti-tank guided missile developed by Yongsheng Heavy Machinery Industries. First tested in late 1990, the missile entered service in early 1992. It was designed primarily to be fired from 100 - 125mm tank guns, although its compact dimensions allow easy integration not just tanks, but also on helicopters, light vehicles and other armored fighting vehicle types.

The missile is capable of both direct and indirect laser designation. The target can be laser-designated by the launching platform or by another platform, requiring minimal exposure in the firing position. With a low launch signature, the trajectory of the missile can be set to either top attack or direct attack. The missile has active protection system countermeasure.

A two-piece system, the missile consists of a tail section and body section, and depending on the tank gun, both can either be stored separately and mate together when hoisted into the gun, or remain mated together from storage to firing. The Type 92 uses a tandem high-explosive anti-tank warhead, which was designed to penetrate any strong vehicle armor and add-on vehicle armor packages. High penetration capability of the main warhead allows the missile to penetrate the armor of an armored vehicle at high impact angles.

Image

The Type 12 is a gun-launched precision guided munition created by Yongsheng Heavy Machinery Industries. First tested in early 2010 and commissioned in late 2012, it is an upgraded derivative of the Type 08 gun-launched precision guided munition with an upgraded rocket motor for increased range and stronger kinetic energy penetrator for increased penetration, and was designed as a hypersonic beyond-line-of-sight tank/artillery munition that could defeat threats with pinpoint accuracy at long range.

Fired from 120 - 155mm tank and artillery guns, it is an advanced guided, boosted, kinetic energy (KE) anti-armor smart munition that is capable of defeating armored vehicles from close-in to extended BLOS ranges. It utilizes a KE rod and solid-propellant rocket motor to thrust the round towards the target at hypersonic speed. A millimeter-wave (MMW) autonomous seeker and a laser sensor, along with radial maneuver thrusters, is used to acquire and guide the round towards the target with high accuracy. The gunner can choose to either use semi-active laser guidance or MMW guidance before firing. The projectile uses fins to aerodynamically induce spin and accelerometers to provide body motion data to ensure proper dynamics for seeker search area processing. The Type 12 has a maximum range of 27.3 km and a maximum speed of Mach 6.8, allowing for long-range accurate strikes on a target.

The projectile consists of a tail section and body section, and depending on the gun, it can either be stored separately and mate together when hoisted into the gun, or remain mated together from storage to firing. From front to back, the body section of the munition contains the kinetic energy penetrator, the MMW autonomous seeker and laser sensor, and the maneuver mechanism, while the tail section contains the consolidated gun propellant, cartridge case, smart cartridge, rocket motor and fins.

Type 9221 kinetic energy penetrator

Postby Zhouran » Sun Feb 14, 2016 7:23 am

Price: NS$ 740,000 for batch of 10,000

Type 9221 kinetic energy penetrator

Image

The Type 9221 armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot is a 120mm - 155mm gun-launched kinetic energy projectile created by the Scientific Military Research Bureau. First tested in late 2006 and introduced in early 2009, it was designed to be provide superior penetration against armored vehicles using kinetic energy.

The penetrator of the ammunition consists of several layers of dense material reinforced with nanocrystals, which maximizes the amount of kinetic energy released on the target. During impact, the outer layers would deform into a rounded profile due to an effect known as "mushrooming." However, the formation of the outer layers causes the sides of the "mushroom" to break away, leading to a smaller head during impact. As a result, the tip of the penetrator continuously discards the outer layers while the inner layers maintain the tip's conical shape.

The velocities of the Type 9221 depends on the gun/cannon it fires from. The sabots, travelling at a high velocity, continue for many hundreds of metres upon separation, at speeds that can be lethal to a person.

The Type 08 is a gun-launched precision guided munition created by Yongsheng Heavy Machinery Industries. First tested in early 2006 and commissioned in late 2008, it was designed as a beyond-line-of-sight tank/artillery munition that could defeat threats with pinpoint accuracy at long range.

Fired from 120 - 155mm tank and artillery guns, it is an advanced guided, boosted, kinetic energy (KE) anti-armor smart munition that is capable of defeating armored vehicles from close-in to extended BLOS ranges. It utilizes a KE rod and solid-propellant rocket motor to thrust the round towards the target at a very high speed. The Type 08 has a maximum range of 14.6 km and a maximum speed of Mach 4.3, allowing for long-range accurate strikes on a target.

The projectile consists of a tail section and body section, and depending on the gun, it can either be stored separately and mate together when hoisted into the gun, or remain mated together from storage to firing. From front to back, the body section of the munition contains the MMW autonomous seeker and laser sensor, the maneuver mechanism, and the kinetic energy penetrator, while the tail section contains the rocket motor and consolidated gun propellant, cartridge case, smart cartridge and fins.

Type 78/78-1 anti-tank guided missile

Postby Zhouran » Sun Feb 14, 2016 7:25 am

Price: NS$ 380,000 for batch of 10,000 (Type 78)/NS$ 420,000 for batch of 10,000 (Type 78-1)

Type 78/78-1 anti-tank guided missile

Image

Warhead: Shaped charge HEAT (Type 78), tandem HEAT (Type 78-1)
Warhead weight: 5 kg
Maximum range: 6,100 m (Type 78), 6,800 m (Type 78-1)
Guidance system: SACLOS radio

The Type 78 is an anti-tank guided missile developed by Yongsheng Heavy Machinery Industries. First tested in late 1976, the missile was commissioned in early 1978. It was designed to be fired from 125mm smoothbore guns like a shell, but operate like a guided missile.

Using semi-automatic command to line of sight (SACLOS) radio guidance, the missile is fitted with a shaped charge high-explosive anti-tank warhead. A two-piece missile, the missile sections, depending on the smoothbore gun, can either be separated when stored and mate together when hoisted into a gun, or group together when stored before being loaded. The front section contains the warhead and a sustainer motor while the tail section contains a battery, the flight controls, a light source for the guidance system on the tank to track and a small antenna to receive commands from the tank. The tank gunner tracks the target with an optical sight and the system's fire-control computer determines the error in the position of the missile relative to the line of sight, converts the data into a course correction signal and transmits it to the weapon via a directional UHF radio command transmitter.

It is initially fired out of the gun/missile launcher tube by a booster cartridge at 132 m/s to a point where the single-stage short burn solid fuel sustainer rocket motor of the missile cuts in to accelerate it to its maximum flight speed of 456 m/s. The Type 78 has a secondary capability in the ground-to-air role against low-flying helicopters.

The missile has three modes of firing: Primary, Ballistic and Emergency. For primary, the gunner has to keep the crosshairs centered on the target. For ballistic, the missile flies three to five meters above the gunner's line of sight, dropping down to the line of sight just before reaching the target. As for emergency, it is only used if a target suddenly appears within 1,000 m and the missile is already loaded. The gun is at only 40 minutes of arc above the line of sight to the target, and the command link is activated early. The hit probability is lower in this mode.

The Type 78-1 is a modernized variant of the Type 78. First tested in early 1984 and commissioned in late 1985, it simply uses a tandem HEAT warhead for increased armor penetration and an upgraded sustainer rocket motor for increased range.

Price: NS$ 728,000 for batch of 10,000 Type 9221-100-2; NS$ 695,000 for batch of 10,000 Type 9221-100-1

Type 9221-100 High-Velocity Ammunition

The Type 9221-100 High-Velocity Ammunition is a type of autocannon/tank-gun cartridge created by the Scientific Military Research Bureau. First tested in late 2009 and introduced in early 2011, it was designed to provide greater accuracy and controllability, higher velocity, longer range, and high lethality. The Type 9221-100-1 is the autocannon ammunition variant while the Type 9221-100-2 is the tank gun ammunition variant.

A high-velocity cased round, the Type 9221-100 is fully-telescoped with the projectile being completely enclosed in a cylindrical casing made of durable, high-strength fiber-reinforced polymer, and fully buried inside the powder charge. The cartridge consists of a shell section and charge section and, depending on the weapon, it can either be stored separately and mate together when hoisted into the weapon, or remain mated together from storage to firing. From front to back, the components of the shell section consist of an end cap that keeps the projectile centered in the propellant block, the projectile itself, an internal primer cup with an internal primer mix, and a High Ignition Temperature Propellant (HITP), while the components of the charge section consist of an external primer mix and a primer cup propellant.

Highly-efficient and safe to use, a variety of projectile types can be used by the Type 9221-100.
