After the assasination of Emperor Josef, His son, the 9 year old Josef was crowned Josef II. However Josef's brother Franz became regent and was determined to get revenge on the Sornians. He was far more right wing than his moderate brother and the Province of Sornia wouldnt know what had hit it.

Troops poured into Sornia. Men, women and children were carted off to the gallows and firing squads to be executed. Those who could not be executed were put in concentration Camps and usually deprived of Food, Water and Sleep.

The trooops also destroyed the wells, burnt the houses, cut the aqueducts, destroyed the roads, knocked down the cities. It was about of Eradicating the province of Sornia to a point of no recovery. Franz was going to make the assasin pay for Josef's death in the blood of his own people.

OOC: Would it be too much to assume this has already been discussed with Sornia? Or is this a non-player nation you made up so you could have a rout/massacre for the sake of the plot you have in mind?

The Imperian Court unanimously agrees that the actions taken by Regent Franz of Hessingen are both barbaric and excessive. By a vote of twelve to three by the ruling council, the Imperian Court will open its borders to any and all Sornian refugees that manage to escape the Sornia Atrocities. Individual cases will be contingent upon willingness to respect Imperian law.

In the stretch of mountains from the western range that extended into the peninsula, the roads roared as mobile artillary pieces were positioned along cliffs and behind peaks. Turret emplacements in and around the ports of the peninsula, both mountain and valley, were manned for the first time in decades. Off the coast, anchored fortifications coordinated with submarines to safeguard the bottleneck passages through the northern glaciers. Hessingen may have superior numbers, but Imperian infrastructure was already churning out enough ammunition to maintain a steady barrage on the choke points, and morale was high in the provinces that had fought off naval sieges to earn exceptional rights among the provinces.

Any Sornians that sought to aid the Imperian Court's military in the coming battle would be redirected to noncombat positions, to minimize the risk that the invaders would get a partial victory in being able to kill their intended prey.

The Arbiter King wishes to extend his gratitude to the Turkish Federation and Czechomany for the support they have shown, and hopes that what support has been offered may extend beyond moral support in the future.

Under the cover of dark the special Forces, Eagle Platoon crept towards the Imperian Court Position. Having landed in a Farm Field and murdered the Farmer and his family they proceeded up the cliff using specially prepared climbing equipment. Colonel Von Feddern motioned silently for Eagle Platoon to follow him.

A guard was standing on the cliff side smoking. A trooper crept up behind him and bayoneted him in the chest and muffled his scream. The rest of Eagle patoon climbed up. The defensive postion occupied by the artillery was their objective. Two more guards were killed as they sneaked into the base. Colonel Von Feddern began laying explosives on the Artillery and on the sandbags. This blast might cause such a force that it dozens of Imperian Court Soldiers. They were using it as a foward position to land their army in.

OOC: ...Wow. That's a lot of godmodding going on there. Mind explaining how your forces bypass the coastal emplacements, submarines, and freakin' glaciers to land on said farm? Why "thousands of Imperian Court Soldiers" would be camped around a singular artillary piece and only give it three guards, one of which was being distracted by his duty by smoking illegally imported narcotics? How an entire army bypasses chokepoint defenses?

OOC: A plane launched from where? I doubt even your planes are that fuel efficient. It should additionally be noted that the artillary crews and their guards are in the single digits, and since we aren't talking about an actual fortified position, which has already been stated as being in the ports, blowing up that singular artillary piece isn't going to do much more than alert the Night Patrol, expose your stealth force, and overwhelm their position through strength of numbers and home field advantage while improving morale by making it clear that even with superior technology and numbers the enemy fears honorable combat. ...And how did the bayonet guy silence the scream if he used his bayonet? He wouldn't be able to get his arm around.

Press Release from the Front Range Republic

The Front Range Republic strongly condemns Hessingen's actions in this matter. At 0550 this morning, the House and the Senate declared a state of emergency and authorized the use of military force on a moments notice if necessary. Reminding the Empire that the Front Range Republic has more than thirty times their military budget, Hessingen is order to cease the genocide and persecution of Sornians, cease all active military operations, bring their deployed forces home, offer a formal apology to their Imperian Court, and allow a free internationally monitored referendum on whether to remain part of the Empire to be carried out in Sornia province. Should these demands not be met in a reasonable time frame, military action will be taken, certainly including protection of the Court and liberation of Sornia province, possibly up to and including the full destruction of the Empire of Hessingen.

Classified Message to the Imperian Court

Should you desire assistance against the invaders, we have forces preparing to deploy to your assistance. SUBRON 7, consisting of 12 Aurora class nuclear powered attack submarines is already sailing in your direction. They will interdict enemy supply lines and attack forces, and operate safely underneath sea ice.

Conditional upon your nation loaning us the necessary airbases, the 34th, 12th, and 17th fighter wings along with the 25th attack wing will deploy to your nation. The presence of the 5th generation F-12U fighter will guarantee air superiority, and with the 25th comes the ability to severely disrupt enemy troop movements. The conditions for the air bases are as follows: the FRAF will take over command, control and security of the bases in question, and should the enemy get within 100 miles of the bases before FRA units arrive, an Imperian division must be deployed to protect our aircraft against ground attack.

Conditional upon your nation finding us a way to get them there, the 3rd Corps of the Army is being prepared to deploy to assist in your defense. Such a large formation cannot be moved through the air or through the arctic ice fields, so such a deployment would probably require right of passage through on of your neighbors who has a coast.

Finally, the Front Range Marine Expeditionary Force is making preparations to deploy to Sornia, covered by three Carrier Battle Groups of the FRN. We formally request that you contribute a few troops to the liberation force. We understand that a nation of your size in your position likely cannot spare many, but the gesture is important.

Dark gray is mountain, dirty yellow is rough hills, dark green is pine forest, light gray is snowy plains. The white lines on the water show the feasiable routes to approach the country from by sea if you want to avoid giant floating chunks of ice. The big black dots are provincial capitals, while the smaller black dots are other urban communities within the province. Although it isn't on the map, an extensive highway system connecting all the dots should be assumed. Also, the provinces:

1. West Penisul, the primary concentration of roadside artillary is snuggled in these mountains.
2. East Penisul, which has a heavy concentration of the offshore coastal fortresses to make up for the lack of urban emplacements.
3. Narrow Heights, which has a coastal fortress shaped by a decade of naval siege tactics for a provincial capitol.
4. North Hilan, which has some purely sadistic mountain terrain off its coast. Efforts to land ground forces along the sheer cliff would end poorly.
5. Vale's Hill, nationalism capitol of the Court, and home to the urban emplacements the Court used to bombard East Penisul's urban emplacements during the war.
6. Imperia, home to the capitol. This is where we're keeping the refugees.
7. South Hilan, the sister province to North Hilan. Here, having a figurative stick up your arse is a local custom.
8. Crown Valley, a rather peaceful industrial sector. Smallest standing army, but largest militia.
9. Far Reach, a more recent addition, but sports a suprisingly potent standing army, likely due to having shamanistic natives that actually cooperate.
10. West Cragwood, a recent and rebellious addition, but is steadily developing.
11. East Cragwood, more rebellious than its sister province, and thus slower to develop.
12. Pine Glade, which actually has fruit trees in the mix with the pines, ironically enough. Suprisingly developed given how recently it joined the Court.

General Sam Burke, FRAF, watched as the airfield grew larger beneath the droning transport plane. The wheels squeaked as the plane bounced down onto the snow dusted runway. Nearly one hundred people were aboard the first FRAF plane to arrive in Imperian territory, mostly the general's core staff members and base security personnel to ensure the airbase was adequately protected before the fighters began arriving in the morning. The plane taxied to its designated position off from the run way and came to a halt.

Burke's boots crunched on the gravel as he hopped down from the transport to the ground below. Two more planes were already taxiing to adjacent positions, and another was about to touch down on the runway. Organizing the deployment of enough personnel and equipment to run a 350-plane air deployment in a foreign country was not going to be simple, but first things came first. He identified the ranking Imperian officer coming out to greet him, and stepped forward.

Amidst the bustle of ground crews guiding the planes into position, a lone figure strode confidently across the snow. He wore a standard white and silver winter uniform, but the cyan armband on his right arm bore the badge indicating a position of National Knight, the local equivolent of a General. He reached out with a gloves hand to General Burke, a magnanimous smile breaking through a thick peppered beard. "Sir Andrew Miller. Sorry about the mess, but the hills blow the snow back on the runway as soon as we clean it. We'll talk strategy where there's heat. May I ask how many planes per minute my ground crews can expect?"

Burke firmly returned Sir Miller's handshake. "General Sam Burke, Front Range Air Force. Good to meet you. To answer your question, we've got enough fuel to circle as much as we need, so we'll land at whatever speed your ground crews need. We have a dozen transports to land to bring in our base personnel, and starting tomorrow we'll bring in the actual fighter wing. About 120 planes all told, including spares. That gives our staffs a day to work out the logistics of where to put everything." He paused to blow on his gloved hands. "I'm putting the 34th and 25th here, and dispersing the 12th and 17th to the other airfields you loaned out to us. Do you want FRAF HQ Imperian Court to be set up here at the airbase or closer to your high command?"
