If you try to login through the forums, and the game-side is down, then yes. This has something to do with it.

The forum tries to login you in through the gameside, but since that is down, it can't, so it just returns the invalid password error instead.

He couldn't be on the forums if it was his connection.

For me the gameside currently works, but a bit slowly.

Fair enough point. Game side works just fine for me too.

Would we melt less disks if we had a database instead of a file based system of storing nations? :P

But the work involved in that changeover would probably melt our Admins!

Probably not, as faulty hardware is faulty hardware, regardless of what's running on it. :P

Too late, I already panicked.

You know, it's a shame that the game site has a humorous error message, but I barely get to see it for one second before being automatically redirected to a lame CloudFlare page.

[violet] doesn't have an actual nation associated with the forum account, she has direct access to all the backend server-y stuff. :P

I'll assume that their accounts are "special" as in when they are promoted they are added to an "untouchable" section of storage.

But then again, what do I know? :p

I mean, I know she doesn't have a nation, because I tried to find it once, but what about Salusa, (did you have Forum Admin back then), or whatever admins were back then but are now retired.
Follow up question; what about the Forum Mods of the time?

The techies doubtless all have access to the filesystem where nation data is stored and to the SQL server that this forum runs on. That access wouldn't be revoked by the 0 of 0 bug, which was a problem with NationStates code that affected nation data, not shell users on the server used for nation data.

Back when that happened, I think NS still used the Jolt forum, so forum accounts would not have been affected.

Damn, I was accustomed to getting my issues at specific times and this downtime changed everything. I suppose fixing the issue timers isn't possible?

Exact timing would be less of a concern if there were a little more room in the issue folder so you don't have to check in multiple times a day just to keep it from filling up.
