The Annexation of Benaroon [OOC] [Semi-Open]

PostPosted: Mon Jul 25, 2016 3:03 pm
by Elcric Kcalb
This is the OOC thread for the following Roleplay: [X]

If you would like to join this roleplay, but were not present in the preceding RPs or named in the OP, you should post here and wait to be okay'd by someone to join. You should also declare your nation's agenda (IE, anti-slavery coalition, pro-Benaroon, or independent actor). If you have a hankering for direct communication, here is a Discord Chat. It's very nice.

Remember: keep OOC posts confined to this thread and don't pick silly fights.

Hey,

I'd like to propose that we become invite-only - anyone who wants to join would need an invite from someone who was in the original roleplay. This would minimise the possibility of people joining randomly.

Also, the quality of the roleplay has been very good so far.

We'd like to secretly supply chemical and if need be, nuclear weapons to all parties against the slaver. Is anyone interested?

Hello folks, can I have permission to join? I'd like to be a part of this.

So, the Corporatocracy is planning to subject Benaroon to "benevolent assimilation"?

And the Haven is planning to subject it to the status quo.

I have two options on the table:
    1) Go along with the Corporatocracy
    2) Invade and "democratically" install a new government that is pro-Palmyrion and abolitionist

And option 3 is, of course, go rogue and kill everyone. Or, option 4, don't step into the conflict at all, since I got one brewing in my homeland.

Well this afternoon I'm going to make a post about the 'coalition' which is trying to install a new democratic government

The Corporatocracy would welcome the first option, and would be more than willing to open Benaroon's markets to Palmyrion interests as well.

The slavery thing is kinda being outlawed rn by the Corpatacracy. Diplomatic relations is another thing. I would want another nation to be in, but on a diplomatic level.
BTw, how realistic are we making this?

Any chance I could join? Alexiandra is fervently anti-slavery, and thus is willing to lend its grudging support to Elcric Kcalb's efforts. Despite its opposition to the imperialistic annexation of Benaroon, the Alexiandran government views such an outcome as preferable to the restoration of slavery under the Vakolicci Haven.

Scale of one to ten? Hopefully ten.

As for Alexiandra - yeah, you could join. Perhaps you could support me instead, though? I'm more of a case planning to add Benaroon to the confederation that is Kustgebied - see http://iiwiki.com/wiki/Kustgebied for more.

Remember to use the Discord if you can, everyone - communication and cooperation is key.

The question, I think, is whether or not seizing Benaroon from Elcric Kcalb by force would result in a net decrease to the standard of living for its inhabitants. I'm wondering whether or not a war, no matter how well-justified, is preferable to peaceful reform, however moderate.

We're not seizing it by force - we're competing with Elcric Kcalb for control over Benaroon.

Orostan - I abstain on your admission, I really do.

Forgive me - I was under the impression that the coup was orchestrated by a faction effectively under the control of Elcric Kcalb. If that's not the case, Kustgebied can count on Alexiandra's moral and material endorsement.

The coup is pro-Elcric Kcalb - but we're not going to resort to an all-out conflict. More of a case small-scale insurgencies, diplomatic pressure, etc.

In that case, Alexiandra sides with you.
