The two Marine pilots, First Lieutenant Joseph Hanson and Second Lieutenant James Spears end up shooting down four more Dragomerian planes (two A6Ms and 2 G3Ms) before taking too much damage and finally ditching in the lagoon. They are fished from the water and prepare to assist in the ground battle.

The Task Force 1 aircraft take off from the carriers and head towards the Dragomerian fleet.

Wake Island Naval Air Station and Marine Base

Marines desperately try to hold their ground against the onslaught. The Dragomerian troops storming ashore meet a hail of bullets from the Marines just up the beach. They fire their machine guns until the enemy is within several yards and are forced to retreat towards the airfield and command station bunker. They fire their mortars until their limited supply runs out, they fire the anti-tank guns until they too run out of ammunition. Now with less than 200 of the original 400 Marines and a handful of Army and Navy personnel, they make a fighting retreat towards the airfield. Along the way, they turn to exchange fire covering their other retreating comrades.

Admiral Fowler is briefed on the situation regarding Wake. With little doubt that it will fall, Admiral Fowler makes the decision to not commit more Marine ground forces to Wake. Being that it is cut off, surrounded, and under heavy fire, any attempt to reinforce it would only result in the loss of more Marines. Naval forces will be ordered to reinforce Midway instead as it is better supplied, garrisoned, and closer.

Flagship Musashi, Yamato-class Super battleship, Second Invasion Fleet, 2 km from Wake Island, March 15, 1940

As the enemy was retreating, Admiral Ichijoji came up with a plan. The enemy seemed to be retreating towards the airfield, according to the invasion forces placed on the island. The admiral commanded, "Aim all guns at the airfield. If the reports from the front lines are correct we will be seeing them soon. Once the enemy is within the trajectory of the guns, fire them. After our guns thin them out, we will offer them a chance to surrender. CO, radio the front lines and tell them to stop pursuing the enemy if the enemy get onto the airfield. We do not want friendly casualties." The CO left the bridge to fulfill his orders, while the main and secondary armaments on the battleships turned towards the airfield.

Flagship Yamato, Yamato-class Super battleship, Main Invasion Fleet, Pacific Ocean, March 15, 1940

Admiral Yamato had a plan. He secretly leaked that the Main Invasion Fleet, including a Juggernaut, was heading towards Midway. He planned for that information to find its way into the enemy military command. He had instead sent the Third Invasion Fleet to Midway, which would not reach Midway for a few days. He organized a number of Japanese submarines to 'patrol' those areas to make the rumor seem valid in the eyes of the enemy. His plan was to make ATCO forces divert most of their forces to Midway by making them think that the Juggernaut was on its way there, when in reality, the Juggernaut's true destination was Hawaii. If the plan succeeded, Hawaii would easily fall to the invasion fleet due to a lack of forces. The admiral thought that even if the enemy were to realize they were tricked, that it would be too late for them to correct their mistake.

The incoming fire from the Dragomerian warships rips into the airfield, catching some out in the open. Marines and other servicemen take cover in slit tranches, craters, the bunker itself, and under piles of derbies. Some are outside of the airfield when the bombardment commences, so they are spared most of it. The Marines on Peale Island have not made it there yet. The barrage causes more casualties and destroys what is left of the facilities on the island. The seaplane hanger is knocked out and rendered useless. When the bombardment ceases, the Marines observer the Dragomerian Soldiers not advancing on them, puzzling them.

Bremerton Naval Station, Washington

Admiral Fowler orders several submarines to be sent out into the Central Pacific to patrol the waters around Midway, the Hawaiian Islands and the Marshall islands. They are to report Dragomerian and Scarlet Shogunate ship movements and sink ships of opportunity. Several more are to be sent to patrol waters in the Bering Sea to report on shipping movements and attack targets of opportunity.

Meanwhile, Admiral Holland in Alexandria authorizes the Washingtonian Pacific Fleet to be given a substantial number of ships from the Atlantic fleet. Several more carriers and battleships from the Atlantic are to make their way to the Washingtonian naval bases in Bremerton, Everett, Seattle, Astoria, Vancouver, and Victoria.

OOC: To keep me active on this thread until the Philippine invasion, I'm gonna make a sub-plot.

Scarlet Espionage: Sabotage behind Enemy Lines
While Scarlet Forces prepare for the invasion of the Philippines and the later invasion of Hawaii, the Scarlet Espionage Department (SED) has established spy cells in an elaborate plan to sabotage the ATCO's wartime industry from the inside.

1. San Francisco: "Ammunition"
March 15th, 1940, 0:45
Port of San Francisco, Ascoobis
Operation "Ascoobian Ammo"
Agents: Fuon-di Rong, Qui-Ron Hang

The two agents, Scarletean-Chinese Natives, entered the port. They would be wearing dark trench coats and fedoras, well used to hide some of their equipment. Obviously, the Entrances would be guarded, so the two agents looked around for a way of entry that would not be noticed easily. Thus, the agents used grappling hooks to carefully climb the walls and paid attention to their surroundings, hoping no guards would be alerted by the noise. Sneaking around the port from hiding spot to hiding spot, the Agents made their way to the objective: an Ammunition Stockpile for the Ascoobian Navy. Since Dynamite would be too loud, they decided to light a fire instead. Qui-Ron took out a jar filled with gasoline and started slowly spilling it in a backwards path, hoping to make the fire quickly spread and cause enough damage to the structure to perhaps engulf it in flames before Authorities could extinguish the blaze. When Qui-Ron ran out of gasoline in his jar, Fuon-di struck up a match while no gaurds were around and ignited the blaze. From there, they B-lined for the closest exit, knocking out whatever guards there that they can, and escaped...

Spokane, Washington, March 15, 1940

The Spokane Police Department accompanied by men of the Federal Intelligence Agency (FIA) raid the Spokane Horizon Factory. With war declared, the Federal Government sets out to seize all assets of the Dragomerian Islands and the Scarlet Shogunate within Washington's borders. Squad cars with officers arrive out front, armed with Thompson Submachine guns, Remington shotguns, Browning Automatic Rifles, and sidearms, they storm the factory to shut it down. Other cars block off the roads around the factory. Others proceed to block the entrances.

Fort Lewis, Washington

General Ellertson overseas the equipping of the 1st Field Army. With new recruits pouring in, they proceed to train them to be ready for deployment. Several more divisions who are still forming are sent to Washington, Oregon, and Columbia to be prepared for a possible invasion of the West Coast. Tanks coming from Detroit and Milwaukee begin to fill up the new armored divisions that are to be formed as well as the tank battalions attached to infantry divisions. With voluntary enlistment high, the draft is currently not pulling in quiet as many people.

Several of the coastal artillery forts are reinforced with more and powerful guns. Fort Casey for example is getting two 16-in/45 caliber naval rifles in casemates. The guns at Fort Warden, Flagler, and Casey are all given two 16-in/45 naval rifles as well as some 5-in/51 caliber naval rifles. Fort Corbin on Victoria receives two 16-in/45 caliber naval rifles, four 8-in/55 caliber naval rifles as well as some 5-in/51 caliber naval rifles.

Factories around the country increase their security to avoid sabotage and espionage. More officers are positioned at the entrances of factories and armed to deter any threats. Meanwhile, production surges to meet the demands of the war. Oil fields are also given increased security to avoid any sabotage of the wells.

Invasion Force, Wake Island, March 15, 1940

The invasion force sent out a single person to negotiate with the enemy forces. The person was wearing a large white shirt. Meanwhile, radio communications were sent out in English, stating that the invasion force would like to negotiate the surrender of the opposing forces on the island. The invasion force was to wait and see how the enemy forces react.

Spokane, Washington, March 15, 1940

The management of the Spokane Horizon Technologies facility watched out the window of the main building of the facility as his facility was surrounded. Those in charge knew this day would come. As the 'invaders' stored the facility, the manager went over to a switch hidden behind a painting in his office. He then inserted his key in the slot below the switch and turned the key. After that, he threw the switch and removed the key. A minute later, the explosives hooked up to the switch detonated, taking out the entire complex and leaving behind only a destroyed foundation, a large amount of rubble, and manufacturing equipment that was rendered unusable by the blasts. The finished products that were not able to be shipped out before the war began were also completely destroyed.

Near Midway, Pacific Ocean, March 16, 1940

A number of imperial submarines arrived near Midway. Each submarine was tasked with observing the enemy and fortifications at Midway. Each person in those submarines were told that they were doing the scouting to prepare for the arrival of the main fleet and the Juggernaut, just in case any of them were captured.

Seoul, The Empire, March 15, 1940

The military closed in on Douglas Aviation's facility in Seoul. Their job was to take the facility from Douglas Aviation and sell it to Mitsubishi. They had no doubt that the Washinton government was doing the same to the Horizon Technologies facility in Spokane. With guns drawn, the military ordered all people within the facility to come out.

Major Eckert of the 4th Marine Defense battalion sends his own message back via radio and to the messengers, "Surrender? Not a chance!" The Marines and other personnel take positions in hidden positions around the airfield, prepared to fight to the last man.

Midway Island Naval Air Station

Destroyers posted at Midway pick up objects on their sonar, believing them to be Dragomerian submarines. The base commander is alerted to the presence of submarines and immediately puts the island on alert. He orders flying boats to be launched with depth charges. The destroyers are ordered to hunt to down the submarines before they can map the island's defenses. Several F4F-3 fighters are launched to provide air cover.

Seoul, Dragomerian Empire, March 15, 1940

The Douglas Aircraft Company plant executive orders all the workers to spot what they are doing an exit the facility. Coming out with a white handkerchief, he asks the commander of the group to not hurt any of the workers. He pleads that they are just workers trying to make a living and have no intention of aiding the Washingtonian war effort from their location.

Bremerton Naval Station
Admiral Fowler convenes with Joint Pacific Command (JPACC) to make arrangeents to defend Midway and possibly the Hawaiian Islands. They plan on sending some of the newly arrived carriers and battleships to Midway and Oahu to help the Ascoobian fleet stationed there. Carriers ROWS Huron (CV-8), ROWS Fredericksburg (CV-3) and ROWS Pioneer (CV-5) as well as battleships ROWS St. George (BB-27), ROWS Wyoming (BB-21), ROWS Aurora (B-16), and ROWS Washington (BB-28) will to head to Midway and possibly Hawaii to air in it's defense. The rest of the transferred fleet is to protect the West Coast from attacks.

With New Americas six ranger platoons coming in president harrison decides on a new strategy. " instead of trying to stop Dragomeria from landing on our coast we are going to set up heavy defenses 100 miles inland. I want every soldier in a fox hole along this line. Position artillery to bombard the invaders all the way from the coasts it ill they hit our soldiers. I want our bombers to take out supporting naval vessels and their reinforcements. As this is happening position our navy in a defensive manner along vital harbors. On the retreat to these lines I want bombs being planted to slow down the invasion force".

"Mr. President I advise having our fighters set up a no fly zone around the line" says the Secretary of the North Amwellian Air Defense.

" yes that seems appropriate I want planes in the air 24/7 hitting Dragomerias Soldiers and Their Planes,

2. Seattle: "Airfield"
March 16th, 1940, 20:42
A Military Airfield near Seattle, Washington
Operation "Grounding the Mustang"
Agents: Kura Horomaki, Makoto Rokadea

While the "Ascoobis: San Fransisco Cell" Agents attempted to lay low as they'd prepare destruction of the evidence as a plan B; The cell in Seattle prepared for their assigned mission. With Increased security due to the Sabotage in Ascoobis, the Agents had to take great care to make sure the plan was not a failure. The Mission was simple: 1. Sabotage Air Vents in the Pilot's Barracks with Methane (Primary) 2. Assassinate any Air-Force Officers and High Ranking Officials (Optional) 3. Sabotage P51 Mustangs (Optional)

That was of course...if the agents can pull it off under the eye of Military Soldiers...

OOC: If Washington would allow me, I can make this an elaborate and successful sabotage; or a mission gone wrong that leads to the cell's shutdown by Authorities such as the FIA.

OOC: Mustang production is farther inland at the moment. Seattle mostly produces B-17s at the moment. In all reality, it would likely be a mission gone wrong because A) With a rather small minority population, anyone of Southeast Asian origin would stand out to authorities, and B) to pull it off on an Army Air Force base would be difficult due to the security, not to mention the methane they would need to bring.

Seattle Cell Mission
At the airfield, the two Agents sneaked around to the barbed wire fencing. There, they quickly cut the fence. However, making an entry point was one thing, but getting a barrel of methane inside it would be another...

"We just had to make the methane thing our primary objective...the whole assassination thing or the sabotage part would have been easier." Kura angrily whispered to Makoto as they took turns rolling the methane barrel over to the hole in the fence, trying to act as fast as possible before anyone notices. "Hey, I wanted to do this with as little blood as possible, and besides, i hate auto work!" Makoto snarled back. Both agents tried to keep their voices down as the argument continued, but they raised their voice.

"Pacifist Coward!" Kura Yelled at Makoto.
"WHINY B*TCH!" Makoto replied loudly.

Then, a suspicious searchlight revealed the two Agents red-handed, just nearby a hole in the fence. The two agents then realize what they've done. Not only were they detected, but their argument was in their native language, so they cannot pass by as a troubled couple, especially near a military base. So, they Panic. And they Ran for their truck...

OOC: Washington would rp the agent's detection by his forces and the agents' fates.

OOC: Washington would rp the agent's detection by his forces and the agents' fates.

Paine Field Army Air Force Base, 20 miles north of Seattle, Washington (closest Army Air Field)

Searchlights immediately hit a group of two suspicious men, speaking what was most definable an Asian language. The Military Police guard in the tower raised his M1905A3 rifle and target the group. The two men managed to avoid his shots, but he managed to put a hole in their gas tank of the truck they climbed into. As they drove by a group of MPs near the base, they managed to put a hole in the radiator and cause the engine to start to overheat. The information about the truck and it's occupants were forwarded to the Seattle Police Department and the local Federal Intelligence Agency department. Within no time, the truck was being chased south on Route 99. After their truck comes to a stop due to the overheated engine and the fuel tank leak, the police surround the truck. After a three minute gun battle with the police, both of the agents lie dead.

Seattle Cell, Washington
The Agency's guards have prepared defenses in the apartment building as an attempt to buy time for a group of five Agency Guards, who are instructed to heat up the fireplace and burn confidential documents to prevent a fatal leak that'll lead to a downfall in the Agency's "Sabotage Cell" project. The Instructed burning however, would only occur if the Authorities were detected raiding the building.

With the agents dead and little information in the truck, the police and the FIA check the registry of the truck to see where it belonged. The plate number registered it with a spot downtown in front of an apartment complex where it was given several parking infractions. Police questioned multiple citizens about the truck to get the information that they saw men very similar to the agents found. Police and the FIA then proceed to raid it the complex where they are located. They go in with Thompsons, BARs, Remington shotguns, and sidearms drawn.

Firefight at the Seattle cell
As soon as the FIA and Police enter the building, the Type 40 Gunners would open fire. One of them yelled "INTRUDERS! BURN THE DOCUMENTS!" in his native language. The Gaurdsmen in the Burn room immedietly went to work, the warmup would take 5-10 minutes.

The police and the agents immediately take cover when the shots ring out. A few officers with BARs open fire to try and penetrate the cover that the Scarlet agents are hiding behind. More officers arrive on scene to try and contain the firefight. The building is immediately surrounded on all sides and officers scale the building across the street to get a better shot. Streets are blocked off and citizens redirected to keep them away from the danger zone.

Result of Initial Firefight: Wooden crates were penetrated by machine gun fire, one bullet hitting an agent in the hip, though the artery and stopping at the bone. The other defenders would fall back to an upper floor, trying to stop the profuse arterial bleeding that splattered the walls and floors red with blood.
Meanwhile, in the burn room, the heating continued, the agent in charge of the burn group angrily ordered his men to speed up the process.
Time until fireplace is heated enough for the documents are burned: 3-8 minutes
Note: The "Burn room" is in a the 4th room of the top floor.

The officers and agents continue up the building towards the top where officers have reported seeing smoke. They continue to fire at the retreating Scarlet agents where they start to make more use of the shotguns. Across the street, some officers are using their BARs to engage the Scarlet agents on the burning floor.

Seattle, Washington

The massive explosion rocks the building. The blast itself causes the officers and agents to evacuate the building. The fire department is called in to control the fires. After two hours, the fires are put out. The Federal Intelligence Agency scours what's left of the upper floors to gather intelligence on what their mission was. With all of the documents destroyed, all they have to go off of is the agents, who all were either shot dead, committed suicide, or were killed in the fire. Due to the previous incident with Paine Field and the methane tank, it is assumed sabotage, intelligence gathering, and possibly assassinations were their goal. The incident is reported in every major newspaper and radio network in the country. It spreads fear around the country as spies and saboteurs may be anywhere. This leads to further security in industrial centers and military facilities.

The message from the enemy was received. Soon, the battleships resume firing at the island. The invasion forces on the island itself, decided to keep their positions until the battleships cease firing again.

Near Midway, Pacific Ocean, March 16, 1940

The submarines sent to observe Midway started doing their job, though with extreme difficulty with so many anti-submarine forces surrounding Midway. Three submarines had already been sunk by the enemy. The remaining submarines knew that it would only be a matter of time before the they either get sunk or escape.

Seoul, The Empire, March 15, 1940

At the Douglas Aircraft Company facility, some of the soldiers were sent into the building itself to secure it. One of the soldiers told the executive of the facility, "Due to the war, it is illegal for a Washinton-based company to operate within the Empire. As such, this facility has been repossessed by the government, who is selling it to Mitsubishi. All native-born Washintonians are to be arrested and and questioned. All imperial citizens have been guaranteed employment under the new ownership."

Invasion Force, North Amwell, March 12, 1940

After seeing that the North Amwellian troops were retreating further inland, the troop landings into enemy territory had been completed, and a large number of artillery and tanks were landing onto the shore. The imperial fighters continued patrolling the air in case of any aerial attacks against imperial forces. The troops took a day to complete preparations for the move further into enemy territory. The move into North Amwell had now commenced.

Wake Island Naval Air Station and Marine Base

With their announcement sent out, the Marines are forces to endure another barrage from the enemy warships. More casualties are sustained until only 150 defenders still stand. Battered, exhausted, and low on ammunition, they prepare to fight to the bitter end.

Midway island Naval Air Station

The destroyers continue to patrol and hunt any submarines they dare come near to scout the island. More flying boats are sent out, some on long range missions to scout against any incoming warships.

Seoul, Dragomerian Islands

The Douglas Aircraft Company executive pleads "Please just don't hurt anyone, we have done nothing to aid in the war effort." All of the Washingtonian nationals are afterwords arrested.

Fort Lewis, Washington

With the North Amwellians giving ground in the north, Army Ground Forces are in a rush to try and get the 1st Field Army ready for deployment as soon as possible. With some units still under-strength, most new recuirts will end up going straight to the 1st Field Army. All the other units are so small they realize that the draft needs to be increased to meet their needs.
