The Situation
With the Conservative Party gaining the majority in the legislature via a special election they immediatly set forth a budget to dramatically slash government spending. President Eden vetoed the proposal but they managed to override the veto and pass the proposal. The budget called for drastic cuts across the board, and had repurcussions no one could have expected. The governments large welfare programs were cut, as well as the defense budget. This led to the loss of many jobs as many government employees lost their jobs and benifits. Additionally many seniors and disabled people lost their benefits and are now homeless and out of money. With Civil Unrest rising, and the economy on the brink of collapse Tongan Coast now looks to foreign nations to help guide them through the darkness that has fallen on the nation.
