1,850 Kilometers South-East of Southcreek

To: Ausitorian Command
From: Admiral Fenrir
Encryption: Maximum/Top Secret

We are moving to assist ASAP. Pillowlandia has requested we reinforce the 2nd Bluewellian Fleet, near Southcreek. I say to do this, we must first dispose of the Phenyzian fleet. We are entering the range of engagement as we type this, and will be engaging momentarily. Let's show these genocidal maniacs the wrath of a Panessian assault.

The Rhinoceran fleet had moved well within 2,000 kilometers of the enemy fleet. All vessels were at full alert, all stations manned. Our radar saw them, which meant they likely saw us. It was now or never. On Fenrir's order, 12 Hellion cruise missiles tore from each Longbow, as well as 6 from each Templar, and 4 from each Sea Lion. These missiles sped across the space separating the Rhinoceran and Phenyzian fleets, locked onto their targets. Meanwhile, the fleet was prepared to defend itself from a counterattack, with activity buzzing across the fleet as everyone tries to scour for potential threats, be it on the surface, below the surface, or in the air. The fight for Southcreek was underway.

To: 2nd Bluewellian fleet
From: Admiral Fenrir, Rhinoceran Imperial Navy

We have been asked by Pillowlandian command to reinforce you. I urge you to fall back and temporarily merge with us, as your small force will be unlikely to survive the exchange that is about to unfold, without further support. Time is of the essence, make your decision quickly.

First, I am going off an order posted in a different IC thread about this one:
New Roma Republic wrote:"Normally, it could take up to a week, but I think we can fast track it with units already out at sea. I'll shoot an email to Julius Iucundus, the Minister of Defense, and he'll scrape together a taskforce. I'll order a second fleet be assembled, but this one will be done with ships at harbor, so it'll take longer to deploy them. Finally, if I remember the briefings correctly, I'll be able to have, I think, 2 or 3 SSNs at Bluewell between now and Wednesday. I'll also be able to have a SSGN sometime soon.
. So, I will act as if the order to send the fleet has already been given, and the first fleet is enroute.

Bellona Battle Group
3 Days from IFC Theatre HQ

The crew of the Bellona and the other ships in the group were surprised at the change in orders. All were out at sea for several days on a different assignment before getting the change of orders. Someone wanted them at an island called Bluewell, and fast. They were, of course, not fully equipped for a prolonged war, but there were going to be other ships to support the battle group, and the Republic will be sending a second, better provisioned fleet in a week's time. That fleet will include amphibious assault elements as well. Already an air component was being prepped to be deployed to the IFC Theatre HQ.

The mission, it seemed, was to protect the independence of Bluewell from hostile forces; forces that were not pro-freedom. There were even rumbles through the fleet of possible Nihon involvement, since Bluewell is in the vicinity of that nation. But these were only rumors, that no one could verify. Still, the idea of Nihonese involvement was unsettling, even to the Group's Commander. Just over a year ago, they sank not one, but two Battle Groups of similar composition due to technical mistakes made by both groups. The Grand Navy, however, had learned its lesson the hard way, and now there was always an AWACS high above the fleet, making sure no hostiles were coming toward the fleet. The AWACS was protected by an escort of 2 fighters, in addition to the usual CAP flights.

So far, it had been quiet, but that made sense as they were still several days away from the combat area. The crews tried to rest as much as they could; they could feel that they wouldn't get much in the coming days. War was looming.

Areas around Bluewell
There were several submarines in the area around Bluewell, though not that close. They were all on routine patrols of the area. They did, however all received an urgent message over the ELF system: head for Bluewell. They were to scout out the area and wait for further orders.

New Roman Intelligence Agency
Deputy Director (Intelligence)
New Rome

The DDI had just got in for the day. He had a restless night, due to insomnia that had been plaguing him of late. I've been drinking too much coffee he thought, as he took a sip of his strong brew. He needed it to stay awake. The DDI opened the overnight "mail", in reality it was classified documents from various intelligence sources. Some agents years back started calling it "mail", and it had stuck.

There wasn't much of interest; it was a quiet time for the Republic. Some information on the Bluewell Conflict, but nothing he couldn't watch on the news. But then he came to a file with the code word "Kage" on it."Kage" was the term used for any information that had to do with Nihon. He opened the file, but was disappointed to see a note. It read "SigInt intercept of diplomatic message from Kage to Somnus and Humpback. Unable to break code. S&T is working on it, says not to expect anything anytime soon."

"Damn!" the DDI swore. Somnus was the code for Pillowlandia, and Humpback for Bluewell. The NRIA had an institutional paranoia about the Nihonese, and the fact that the Republic was sending a fleet into an area where Nihon had an interest didn't help. So Kojiro, what are you after? If only we had a guy on the inside...

Noromoerr Royal Navy Station
Noromoerr, Vikden

With orders from the President, the ships on station there were being loaded and prepared for war. They would act as the Vikdenian vanguard in the Bluewell Conflict. The fleet will help to repel any hostile forces from making landfall on the island itself, and try to prevent more bombings of civilian population.

While the fleet is being loaded, and sailors are kissing their loved ones goodbye, there was a resolution being pushed through the Nasjonalforsamling, Vikden's legislature, stating that the use of force was allowed in this case. The Nasjonalforsamling had to approve all military action, as to limit the power of the executive, something that dates back to when Vikden had been a full monarchy, and the King would regularly deploy the military inside Vikden as a way of suppressing hostile sentiment. Soon they shall set sail, and help Bluewell in the name of freedom.

Nearing Designated IFC Bluewell Task Force Theatre Headquarters, temporarily code-named 'Moby'
The Asgard Systems 838 Var Gutten began it's downward decent to station Moby. General Chouko Suzuki, of the Land Defense Force, sat facing the window. She was the Salderian representative on the Bluewell Conflict. With her was Captain Dũng Tran, of the Naval Defense Force, and Jun Han, of the Air Defense Force. The Vikdenian government was kind enough to let the Salderian representatives fly with their own representatives: Viseadmiral Henning Ness, Commanding Officer of Vikden Forces in Bluewell (COMVIKFOR-BW). With him was Ove Leonardsen, Generalløytnant in the Royal Air Force, and Milla Hall, same rank, of the Royal Army. With them are several assistants and support staff.

The Var Gutten was being escorted by two Vikdenian RAF F-25 Thors. More would be on the way, if it was decided that they were needed. Many things were needed to be decided for this war.

Salderia was not sending any actual combat forces as their military was not large enough for that; they only had 15 citizens. But Salderia is expanding, and there are several new citizenship applications being examined. But that was an issue for another day. "This is the captain, please prepare for landing" a voice on the loud speaker ordered. It was nearly show time.

Secret IC:
SCENE: Situation Room, Imperial Palace, Shaz City, Shazbotdom

14:35 Hours
Several of the Supreme Emperors Aides were busy setting up the room. The building was abuzz with activity as information was coming in about a possible conflict that the Empire was going to get involved in. Larry Williams, the Supreme Emperor, was flying back from the former headquarters of the International Freedom Coalition. Imperial 1, the lead aircraft of the Empire and personal transportation aircraft of the Supreme Emperor, was on final approach to Shaz City International Airport, where the Supreme Emperor would transfer to a motorcade to make the remaining 15 minute drive to the Palace. Anyone else who couldn't make it to the meeting was brought on via speaker phone to ensure that everyone knew what was going on and what the Empire was getting into. An Electronic draft of a Declaration of Military Action was sent to both houses of Parliament simultaneously to ensure it's quick passage.
The Ministers were filing into the room, among those absent from the meeting were the Prime Minister of the Empire, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of the Military; whom were in meetings throughout the world. The Minister of the Military, Grand Admiral James E. Rockenbach, was unreachable as he was currently in session at the IFC Council in Summit. The other two checked in with the Palace's Switchboard and were put on hold while they all were waiting for the Supreme Emperor to arrive at the Palace.

SCENE: Shaz City International Airport
14:55 Hours
Larry just sat down into the back seat of the stretch limo that would bring him to the Palace. It was a quick 10 minute drive, but he was already bombarded with data about the event currently transpiring within Bluewell. Satellite imagery from allied nations showing troop movements of all sides involved, forward operating bases, and other needed information. He was also sent what the suggested forces, as it currently stands, which would be deployed to the region if authorization was given by the Imperial Parliament. Scanning the information over several times, he put it all down and picked up his tablet and began to draft up a message that would be dispatched to the International Community in relation to the events occurring within Bluewell. He would make sure that the intentions of the Shazbotdom Empire were understood to their fullest extent.
The limousine pulled up to the side entrance of the Imperial Palace and stopped 10 feet away from the main door to the building. Larry exited out of the vehicle with his tablet still in hand, typing away and he was escorted into the building by the elite Imperial Guard regiment of the SCS Marines. As he entered the building, he was greeted by the Chief of Staff and handed a manila envelope with some paperwork that he had to sign. He stepped into the elevator and went upstairs to the 3rd floor and went to his private office, signing the paperwork in there, he handed it back to the Chief of Staff and proceeded down the hall to a second elevator and pulled out a key from his pocket and inserted it into a panel next to the door.
The elevator ride took him down to the 3rd Sub-Basement of the building where the Situation Room was located. As he stepped off of the elevator, he looked and saw that all the Ministers were already assembled, and the speaker phone was turned on and active on a call. He noted that it should be the other Ministers who were not able to be in attendance. "Ladies and Gentlemen," he stated as he walked into the room. "So it seems that there are three blocks of nations that are involved in this entire conflict. There are those who, lead by the Armus Republic, wish to Annex the nation into their own little hell. There is also a group who, lead by our ally Pillowlandia, who wishes to guarantee the Independence of Bluewell. There is also a portion of third party groups that have their own independent ideas and agendas which threaten the entirety of the conflict."
He turns to a screen on the back wall, "I have been given information that our allies in the International Freedom Coalition have deployed forces to the region to assist Pillowlandia in ensuring the safety and security of the small island nation. It is also known that Pillowlandia already has Naval Assets in the manner of a Naval Base within distance of the small nation. The Ministry of the Military has given me information on what they feel should be deployed to the region in regards to the Imperial Navy and the Marine Corps." He brings up a map of the region, "If the Parliament authorized this Military Action, we will deploy our forces and group with our allies at this location." He taps a button at his station and a triangle appears on the screen near the current known location of Coalition forces.
"Our forces will then connect their communications systems with the coalition forces to ensure that all operations are done in a timely manner, utilizing combined strike capabilities so that targets are neutralized as soon as they are spotted by our forces." He punches up a button. "Our deployment will be small, but it will become powerful when combined with the forces of the rest of the Coalition."
"Sir," stated the Minister of Finance, "What is the purpose of the CQB Marines in this? Wouldn't this operation mainly be fought on open ground, or do you believe that there will be close quarters fighting?"
"It is the assumption of the Admiral Rockenbach that the fighting might take an Urban turn," Larry answered the question. "It is his suggestion that the CQB Marines are deployed to the region in case of urban warfare, where they will have to go door to door to neutralize any threats to the safety and prosperity of Bluewell. I agree with him on this matter. It is better to be safe and have a force there who specializes in battles within buildings, especially if it moves into having to clear out skyscrapers or other larger buildings within major urban areas." He turns to address the rest of those assembled, "This whole plan, though, relies on if the Imperial Parliament authorizes the use of force in this mater and..."
Larry is interrupted as a door on the far side of the room opens up and an Aide exits the elevator. The aide walks around the table behind all the ministers and approaches the Supreme Emperor. He leans in and whispers something into Larry's ear and hands him some paperwork before standing up straight and exiting the room the same way he came in. Larry opens up the envelope and reads the paperwork before looking up at the assembled Ministers, "It appears that Parliament decide don a joint session to address this matter. The vote came in as 729 Representatives for it and 21 Representatives against it. The vote was also 74 Senators for it and 1 Senator against it. The motion carried and this is the paperwork for me to sign to finalize the authorization."
There was a murmur between the Ministers as Larry stood up, "This means, ladies and gentlemen, that we are now at war. I want everyone to get their Ministries ready for calls from the press and other matters. Minister of Finance, I need the numbers on how much it will cost the Empire per day for this operation to commence. Minister of Public Relations, prepare for a barrage of calls from the press. Brief your staff and have them ready for anything." Larry stood up and began walking towards the exit, "I have a communication to dispatch to the International Community. Everyone is dismissed."

Today's music, I recommend letting the suspense build just a tad before you start reading.

PCS Ethereal, POW Transport Interception
"Strike one mark, enemy cruiser." The sonar station reported. Captain James grimaced, it was something to take a life. At least he was doing it for the right reasons. "Inform the special operations team that we are good to go. Helm, take us to 25 Meters." As the ship rose closer to the surface the attached chamber forward of her sail opened. Out came a single mini-sub, onboard were 16 Pillowlandian Special Forces operators. As the Ethereal pulled towards the starboard side of the transport and activated her active sonar. Her distance was close enough that anyone operating any sonar station with a headset would be blasted with a return sound.

As the Ethereal distracted her second mark the special forces pulled alongside the port deck side, and as she trawled alongside the transport length depositing small teams of two operators at intervals along the hull. When the final pair had been dropped off the mini sub moved directly under the ship. There she attached a small mine, the explosion should catch them off guard and force them to begin damage control. However, it was small enough that it would be able to stopped in just a few minutes, which was all that they needed. As the explosive detonated the operators rose out of the water, quietly tossing hooks onto the, hopefully, deserted deck and began to climb. As the reached the top the stopped, peaking the deck to see if there were any sailors there still...

8th Fleet, Battle of The Harbor
"New contact! Codename titan, on display now." Admiral Rodgers had just opened his mouth to respond when he was interrupted once again, "seven hits, the Devastator,is sinking and the Immobilizeris listing heavily. (Cruisers) Three destroyers are also reporting being hit." (I'm going to assume two hit each cruiser) The tide of battle was now shifting... and in the enemy's favor. "Where is the 7th fleet, it is time to initiate stage two." Several antagonizing seconds passed before a response came, "They are entering position now Admiral." The situation suddenly seemed much less dire. "Alright people, lets do this by the book. Order the 8th into a slow retreat. If we do it right they will pursue and get a few ships caught in the mine field we set up, that'll thin them out if they're paying as much attention to us as I think they are. Order all missiles to target enemy missile cruisers, I want their long range strike capacity reduced."

As the 8th fleet began to give ocean to the enemy eastward the 7th fleet, fully armed rested and ready, approached from the north. It was a standard pincer movement, the stronger front would push in and force the enemy flank to collapse and give way via sheer massed firepower. As the enemy was forced into a smaller space their own weapons would become more dangerous to use and the massed fire would be more effective. When the friendly Krackans from Port-Z arrived the enemy fleets would be minced... if everything went to plan. Nonetheless the missiles and jets of the 7th fleet thundered into the fight, ready to protect the small island nation.

Port-Z
"The first action is that we must drive back the enemy beachhead. To do this we ask that you deploy the full complement of your fighters here. By the time they arrive, our own movements should have forced the enemy fleets into a concentrated area." Rear Admiral King began, getting to business immediately. "As for operation Iron Dove, well most facilities are under government control still. The main exceptions are Fort St. john which has been completely routed by the enemy and Fort Guardian. Guardian is currently under an intensive enemy bombing strike, while it is holding for now any high speed interceptors would be useful. We would send some of ours but they are engaged in defending either the base or actively fighting at benton. Our current deployment is rather strained until reinforcements arrive. To retake benton however there is a large force of Bluewell forces massing at Guardian and we have two battalions on the ground which will be aiding in resecuring the city. Southcreek and Kach are the only other contested cities at the moment. Additionally we will need to begin worrying about insurgent groups as the conflict progresses, they are useful for now holding back OPFOR units."

The Bluewell mobilization is now in full swing, while there are some shortages of equipment almost all units have managed to be activated, with many now massing for counter attacks upon the invading troops. The total troop size is smaller than it would be, due to attrition to insurgent groups but is still nearly 92% of planned operational strength. Meanwhile the 2nd Homefleet has pulled back, and moved to join ranks with the Rhinoceran fleet for the engagement with the Phenzian fleet.

Bomber Group Delta, 50,000ft, 4 hours out from Bluewell

Bombing the shit out of an enemy is always a valid option, always. Six B-52H bombers, fully loaded, were en-route to Bluewell to do just that. With Pillowlandian forces on the ground and their ships engaging the Fleets, this would add yet another layer of suck to the island and the enemy. The problem with the attack is that friendly forces would be in the path, or they would be if the plan didn't go perfectly. General Kin had been given the brief. He would have to wait until the last possible minute to order a withdrawal on Kach in order to prevent the enemy from suspecting anything. It was risky, but it could be done. 420,000 pounds of ordinance was about to be dropped all across the island.

Kach, 8th Battalion, 2330

"We'd need to exit the city and fight back towards the airport, still held by the 2nd. From there, we exit the area. However, we won't be able to start until 0300..thirty minutes before they strike. I won't sugar coat it, it'll be tough. But we're pinned into a corner with these guys hitting us out of no where. It'll have to be a hard push. We won't stop for anything, but we need to look organized. We cannot look like we are pulling back, it must look like an offensive maneuver." "Yes sir, I'll prep the soldiers."

Task Force Lima, Benton Harbor, 2330

"Missile hits, they are reporting 9 out of 10 hits ma'am." "Have the battleships and cruisers begin to engage their own targets. Destroyers are to begin anti-sub operations while harassing the ships. F-18s are to continue strafing runs. Anti ship missiles and JDAMS. Subs are clear to kill as they please." "Roger ma'am." Admiral Young watched the battle through her binoculars, "Gotcha you bastards.

As the ships move and began to fire, the radar operator raiser her hand, "Ma'am, the enemy fleet looks like they are slowly withdrawing. Some ships are requesting to pursue." The Admiral lowers her binoculars and pauses....the enemy still had the initial momentum, despite the appearance of the Task Force. "No....have them disengage once we've reached the First Fleet. If they maintain their position, we will continue to engage. If not, hold fire. We need to rescue our comrades." She paused again..."Once we're in position, have the destroyers and anti-sub frigates provide a screen line for the Task Force." "Yes ma'am"

ARS Frontier

The shotgun blast hit the railing but missed the operator, "Screw you!" The sailor ejected the shell, the hollow clank of the shell hitting the deck resounded in the night, 'I got contact on the port side, section 4!" A spot light swept the area as more sailors rushed over, "Either f**k off or surrender!" A shot rings out, hitting a sailor in the leg. Everyone there starts shooting.

Random Pillowlandian ship
Half of the crew who participated on the attack fell dead but they took some Pillowlandian's with them.

The remaining hid behind any objects that would cover them for fire but they were taking heavy breaths and one got shot in the right shoulder and screamed.

"This isn't working" one said and pulled out his Makarov and blind firing hitting one or two Pillowlandian's and then he stopped looking at the rest and they nodded pulling out their Makarov's as well and aimed for any Pillowlandian they saw shooting at least 3 times until they're confirmed dead and when they didn't saw anymore navy men they got in the Bridge and killed everyone and then aimed the captured ship to the enemy ships tricking them and firing on Pillowlandian ships almost hitting a Kriev Turtle sub in the progress
(There's still some alive Pillowlandian's on the captured ships)

McKinley's MacArthur Destroyer

It was dark, they made sure the destroyers at least made it out of this battle and survived in tip top shape, not really but the Vulkatan's wanted to give something to the Armus after this but fired at any enemy ship that went near their range oblivious to the Armus coup

"I don't like where this is going" McKinley said still in his pajamas walking in circles with his hands on his back "The Fultiboats are just light cruisers and we're just here in the back the beef and the body is in front" he sat down wishing he never volunteered for this.

Random Fultiboat
The crew were in a panic but luckily they packed some heavy guns as well and a soldier opened the ship's gun cabinet and took out a PPSh-41 and reloaded it and prepared his rope for bombardment but another ship was doing the same thing and in harmony the two ships fired circling the Pillowlandian ship until the crew members were close enough to bombard but the former ship were armed with weapons instead of cutlasses
It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

Port-Z
Designated IFC Bluewell Task Force Theatre Headquarters, temporarily code-named 'Moby'

“Thank you, that’s much clearer,” replied the Viscount. He turned around, and the Ausitorians commandeered a table, and in less than ten minutes sketched out two proposed operations. They handed them to the Rear Admiral just as General Chouko Suzuki arrived. They saluted, recognizing him.

"Hello, sir. How does this look?" asked the Viscount.

PROPOSED OPERATION
Code name: Operation Sprinkler
Plan for operation: Reinforce all major strategic points:

Guadalupador Regiment to Secure Crossroads City and hold any enemy advance from St. John.

3rd New Roma Republic Mobile Infantry Legion and 1st IFC Division to land and secure Augustine Harbour & Port Detector, and to reinforce Fort Guardian as necessary. IFC Division to be under operational control of New Roma Republic with administrative support to be provided from attached Ausitorian Strategic Reserve HQ Battalion. Radar/AA support to be provided by air-elements operating from Port Z.

104th Ausitorian Guards Brigade to fortify Northpass-Coaltown-Commerce area against any enemy advance from Kach, and to prepare ammunition and food dumps for Operation Iron Dove. New fortified HQ with radar station and AA base to be established between Northpass/Commerce, with new road to connect Commerce-Coaltown road and Northpass-Kach road.

72nd Chattakang Guards Brigade to properly establish and protect additional rough air bases in the vicinity of Fort Guardian.

93rd Ausitorian VSTOL Air Group (120 Radegasts Fighters, 120 Lightning III) with organic HQ to reinforce Fort Guardian.
Other air elements at Port Z to also operate in support of Fort Guardian as required, and to more generally defend the island from enemy air forces.

Ausitorian ‘Bluewell’ Division to land and establish themselves in the St. Nick’s-Port Common-Lumbertown-Burkell-Bends area, with the Airborne Brigade based in Lumbertown. To protect from possible seaborne invasion from either south or west, and from enemy advance from Fort St. John, and to take the initiative wherever possible.

43rd Chattakang Guards Brigade to fortify Melson and the nearby crossroads. Radar station and AA base to be established at Melson, airbase to be established in the vicinity, fortification to be established at crossroads.

35th New Roma Republic Air Assault Legion to resecure Southcreek, and also secure Port McArther, and Southpoint against Phenyzian landing, and/or contain any other landings on the Eastern Coast in alliance with local forces. Otherwise to prepare for Operation Iron Dove (recapture of Capital).

33rd and 89th Chattakang Guards Brigade to Port Z for Paratrooper Reserve.

Food Aid to be air-dropped to all friendly forces and to a refugee collection point at Burkel, whenever Air superiority allows, as necessary by 4th Strategic Supply Wing operating from Ausitoria and Port Z.

Assisting forces required (are they in the theater yet?): Air elements start arriving in 1-8 hours. Airmobile forces not yet on theatre, ETA 1 day. IFC Division/New Roma Legions ETA 2-3 days (est.). Austorian ‘Bluewell’ Division starts landing in 2 hours.

PROPOSED OPERATION
Code name: Ketea II
Plan for operation: Eliminate enemy naval assets in the vicinity of Benton using similar strategy to that proposed for Ketea. Shazbite 5th Small Assault Battlegroup to prepare for assault on enemy forces at Benton in co-ordination with forces at Fort St. Guardian and southern elements of the 3rd New Roma Republic Mobile Infantry Legion and the 1st IFC Division.
Assisting forces required (are they in the theater yet?): Would be an extension of Blue Albatross. To be conducted in c. 4 days’ time. (?)

SECRET IC:
SCENE: Emperor's Public Office, Imperial Palace, Shaz City, Shazbotdom

15:55 Hours
Television cameras were being set up, moved around, and prepared for the speech that would shape the coming days. Camera crews were being shifted around and plugged their microphone cords into a sound board that was being set up along the side wall, with a single microphone that was built into the desk in the front of the room being adjusted by the building staff.
Larry entered the room with the camera's switched on. As he walked up to the desk and sat down, he nodded at the members of the Press Corps that were assembled in the room. He adjusted some paperwork and looked at the camera operators, shifting around his view to each of them before focusing on the ofifial "center" camera, which would broadcast to all televisions across the Empire.

Screens across the Empire were broadcasting the news at this time, the daily news at 4pm Shaz City Time was one of the most watched in the Empire. When the news crews made a statement that there would be a Press Conference from the Supreme Emperor. "We'll be back after this," was the last thing stated by the News Anchors before the camera cut to the office of the Supreme Emperor.
As per usual, the beginning of the press conference was started with the Imperial Anthem, played from start to finish. As it finished up, Larry shifted in his seat and rolled his chair close to the desk, "My Fellow Shazites and people of the World. I speak to you today as not the Supreme Emperor of Shazbotdom but as a citizen of this planet. Freedom has been tarnished, people's rights are being threatened to be taken away. It is the calling of those of us who respect freedom to lash back at those who wish to take it away."
The televisions switch to a map, the map was of a nation that little to anyone knew within the Empire, "News broke to us within the Empire that this nation, calling itself Bluewell, is within the sphere of influence of a member nation of the International Freedom Coalition. It's more conservative side has begin a hostile takeover, without the will of the people behind it, and doing things that I shall not speak of on Television. We have been asked by our allies to bring order back to this nation, assist in pushing our Foreign Invasion Forces which threaten to violate this nations Sovereignty and dissolve their entire Government."
"I have, therefore, tasked the fifth Small Assault Battlegroup of the Imperial Navy with this task, along with just under Two Thousand Marines," Larry continued. "They will assist Coalition forces with bringing stability back to the region. I have also ordered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in establishing an Aide Package to assist in bringing the Economy of Bluewell back into alignment and helping them get their people back to work."
"Be warned, through, that this action by our forces will most likely put our boys in harms way, and this is something that we are prepared for," Larry continued. "Our forces will work side by side with other member states from the International Freedom Coalition, and it will also be our first test of new weaponry that we purchased from our friends at Halcyon Arms. Our Marines are some of the best in the world, and this action will be a true test of their ability to adapt to ever changing circumstances, including adapting to new weaponry."
"I want to now publicly wish our Marines Godspeed, and Good luck in the upcoming campaign. The people of the Empire are behind you, One Hundred Percent. Remember, Veritas Omnia Vincit," he was finishing up. "May whatever God our enemies believe in have mercy upon their souls, for our Marines will not."

SCENE: ISS Harbringer, 5th Small Assault Naval Battlegroup, 1 Hour out of the Imperial Mainland

16:25 Hours
Admiral Yanamara was standing looking over the information that was dispatched to his vessel by Naval Command. He was ordered to link up with the Joint Operations Fleet as fast as he could. He ordered the fleet at their flank speed, hoping that the extras speed boost in the beginning of the trip would get them to their destination faster. The main guns of the Super Dreadnought had their covers on them, of which would most likely be removed as the fleet became within five hours of the Combat Theater. He noticed that the Carriers and LHD's were test launching aircraft to ensure that all the equipment was working properly and to ensure that the new aircraft purchased from Halcyon Arms were worth their price.
The Admiral walked back into the building and up to the mapping desk, which currently had a digital display of the map from Bluewell on it, with green circles where friendly troops and naval assets are, and red squares where enemy troop and naval assets are. Planning for this mission was going to be a bitch, but he would see when he got there if they would split up who within the coalition would attack whichever enemy. This would make it easier for the Imperial Naval and Marine Assets to ensure that they would not be overwhelmed in the coming conflict.

General Chouko Suzuki and Viseadmiral Henning Ness walked into the room with their respective groups. Suzuki returned the salute. "Gentlemen, it's good to finally be here. I apologize for any delays. The Vikdenians have been most accommodating in allowing us to join them on this long flight." He moved around to look at the plans, the other major players doing so as well. The Vikdenian's staff started to set up a makeshift office on another table.

"Sprinkler looks like a solid plan." said Suzuki.

"Ketea II seems like it may work. If I remember correctly, the Romans suggested the original plan. It truely is a shame what happened to their fleets, I do hope they can learn from mistakes" mused Ness. An aide came over and handed Ness a slip of paper. "Hmm, it seems that Command is deploying more forces: a battalion of Royal Marines, Reavers in fact, and some air assets to transport them here. All air and sea assets are enroute."

"The more more the merrier" joked Suzuki. "Are there any existential threats to this location, or this island?"

The fleet had been underway for 12 hours. It would be a long journey, but they would arrive in 5 days, if the weather turned against them; 3.5 if it stayed how its been.

1300, CENTRAL COMMAND DESK, BANGKOK

Supreme General
Muerdou began hailing the fleet in Bluewell waters, expecting the status report since their departure days prior. His expectations were high, especially for the man he had set in charge of the force, no matter the size it had been. Muerdou felt that the fearsome leader of the REDACTED sector was aware and fully capable of commanding his own task force no matter the situation.

Yet that was about to be put to the test.

The comm-screen, came alight, with Satoshi's face sitting in the camera's view, ever collected before the audience. "Greetings Supreme General," the younger yet still ever wise man began with that signature smirk on his face, "Calling in to check in how the weather is down here in Bluewell?"

Taken aback from this small joke during the situation at hand, the General smiled a little, "Although I would imagine you are one that is up for a vacation down in that mess of a country as of now, I am afraid it is not the ocean breeze I am asking for your opinion on. What I have come for, and you know as well as I about is your status in the current conflict against our foes."

Satoshi's face turned to stone in almost a robotic fashion, yet this did not surprise the General, as he had worked with the man since he was first appointed leader of the REDACTED sector by the upper-state for his aptitude. Standing aside, the leader of the REDACTED sector showed a map of the northern island, with the Pillowlandian submarine base. "For the past few days, we have kept a close eye one this island due to the in and out naval activity, yet in the past few days, we have seen an influx of enemy forces set foot upon this base. We would see it vital to the war effort to eliminate the majority if not the entirety of these forces, in order to cripple the enemy, giving us the upper hand as the Annexation Party. I would request that we use... That weapon, yet it would be in violation to what we had stated in it's construction. Yet using it to destroy the naval forces stationed at the base would be a easy way to conserve losses on our side while taking care of the enemy efficiently. Yet if we do not have the luxury to do such a thing, we shall instead try to divert the enemy's forces with a feint with some of our fleet, while taking over the island with our own ground forces. Our drones have already surveyed the land and we have determined that landing in the north where we would have cover from the woods would serve as some protection from the enemy before we strike the base. The rest is quite standard for a raid mission."

"I will have to consult the higher ups for the authority to use the orbital weaponry, for the reasons you had stated earlier. I wish to win this war, yet getting embargoed is not high on the list of things I wish to have done for our country." This is almost mad, using GUNGNIR like this, although we have yet to actually have it operate on a ground strike, I do not know how the international community would take to this... Of course, the upper-state will know what to do about this matter...

"Best wishes to you Satoshi, may you gain victory in your first operation of this war."

"Failure is not an option, sir."

2000, SOMEWHERE OFF THE COAST OF THE NORTHERN ISLAND

The wind was silent as the sun set on the ocean crest. The Duckzchwhitzian fleet sat on the ever tranquil sea, waiting to break such stagnancy with the surge of war.

Aboard the DMS MUERDOU, Satoshi began ordering the fleets to take up their moves along the coastline in preparation for battle. He didn't expect the Supreme General to take in with his offer to use the Kinetic Weaponry, although its use in this situation would've proven as a key victory for the DBAF. Yet this operation would have to be executed with the utmost scrutiny if they were to succeed in not only taking over the submarine base, but also destroying the enemy's naval assets.

Even without the assistance of the kinetic bombardment, the recent arrival of the IFC forces was going to complicate things quite a bit, yet numbers was not too much of an issue if the plan was to work properly. The goal was the acquire control of the base, and to use the armaments upon the land to have a two way pincer attack upon the enemy forces, inevitably leading to their surrender, or their destruction. Either was acceptable, yet defeat was not.

Picking up the radio in the bridge, Satoshi began his pre-operation speech, "Attention all members of the invasion force! We are about to commence our first operation in the enemy waters, do not take this lightly! Victory is required, do not throw away your lives! Officers, you know the plan, if we execute this, no matter what happens, we will succeed in our endeavors, the Supreme General expects nothing but the best out of us, let us go!"

Cheers spouted out throughout the hull, resonating, the stagnant sea began to churn with the tides of war, the chaos brought by man.
Let us gain absolute victory, even if we are to be sentenced to hell for it.

IFC Theatre HQ, "Moby"
The Roman air elements had arrived the day before. With constant air cover by other air forces, they took time to recover from the jet lag that accompanied long flights. Now, they were sending an AWACS up. The E-53 Archangel AWACS lifted off, and over to the northeast, to check for any hostiles heading from that direction. The E-53 had two F/A-60 Rouges protecting it. After leveling off at 51,000 ft, it began to emit its RADAR. The one of the screens suddenly had six blips on it. "Damn," the airman whispered. "Sir," he called to the OOD, "We have six bogies en route to Bluewell. Based on emissions and speed, I'd say some are bombers, though I'm not sure if they all are." The OOD walked over to look at the screen. He then turned to the communications station, and called in to MOBY: "Base, this is NR-P-1, we have six unidentified bogies en route to Bluewell, most likely bombers. Over."

"NR-P-1, we have a solid copy." The New Roman command operator then changed channels, and called the New Roman Air Legions: "By authority of the ROMCOMBLUTH, you are ordered to intercept six unknown bogies, bombers with possible fighter escort, unknown." The alarms blared around the New Roman section. Two E/A-60D Threshers, with 12 BW.F-30 Mockingjays were sent up to intercept. The Threshers began to send jamming signals to the B-52s, which would limit any on board RADAR. When they achieved range, the Mockingjays launched a missile each, two per bomber.

Along with the rest of New Roman air forces, the Roman Theatre Commander (ROMCOMBLUTH) arrived as well with his own staff. He was Grand Praetor Caelius Lucretius, of the Imperial Army. "Hello," he said as he walked into the command room. "I hope you all are doing well." He saw the IFC military commander from the Micronation, and saluted. "New Roma Republic reporting for duty. I come with guns, and ships, and so the balance shifts. How may we be of service?"

Bellona Carrier Group
Near MOBY

They had finally arrived, the initial fleet. A course was set to rendezvous with the other IFC naval elements. Caesar fleet was two days behind them. As the Group neared the island, they sent out a request for a resupply of air based missiles for their fighters, since they did not have a full load out when they began the journey. Soon, they would need one.

Deep water around Bluewell
The other naval assets had arrived as well, though these were not surface assets. The Korga, Balerion, and Kraken had all been deployed in the area, and had arrived over the past two days, in that order. The Korga arrived from the south, and thus was patrolling the southern part of Bluewell. The Balerion was staying on the northern tip of MOBY, so make sure no hostile forces would try to sneak up, even though AWACS would see them. Their secondary mission was to sink any fleets with the anti-ship missiles in the launchers on board. Finally, the SSGN Kraken was well off to the east of Bluewell, deep under the thermocline, staying hidden. They were there to provide support if any land targets needed to be destroyed.

Phenyzian Expeditionary Force
Southcreek, coast of Bluewell

Did the Ausitorians really think that their fleet hadn't been noticed by Phenyzian satellites several days ago already? It didn't matter if these vessels were destroyed, they were considered expandable and had already fulfilled their goal of landing the ground troops in Bluewell. The entire fleet had been primarily refitted for ship-to-ship combat, in case they encountered any resistance to their landing and transportation of the ground forces. Valuable electronics had been removed from the ships before they left for Bluewell and the fleet was mostly operated by a skeleton crew up until now. It would have been preferable of course if the fleet had simply managed to retreat before the Ausitorians showed up, but this was by no means a major issue even if the loss of another supercarrier was rather annoying.

With Southcreek about to fall into the hands of the Sturmgrenadiers it was about time to abandon the ships, though he had to give credit to the Ausitorians and their allies, they attacked earlier than anticipated. Admiral Schultze chuckled as he and his most trusted officers made their way to the waiting helicopters and submarines for the evacuation. A few hundred conscripts would die and a few expendable vessels sunk and the enemy would celebrate their 'victory'. Still, the whole idea was very risky as it means that until a way to take out the Ausitorians and other fleets had been found, the ground troops would get no supplies from Phenyzia, which means they'll have to rely on looting and pillaging Bluewell, at least the high command has a few plans on how to deal with the Ausitorians in the near future...

For now however, it was a necessary shift in tactics since the Imperial Navy wasn't yet able to contest Ausitorian naval supremacy, they simply lacked the funds and resources the army and air force got. While the Reichswehr was able to field massive armies and tank fleets, and the Luftwaffe had thousands of aircraft at their disposal, the navy was always primarily in a supporting role, acting as transport and escort for the Reichswehr and Luftwaffe or engaging in classical ship-to-ship combat, a strategy that has fallen our of favor in the recent decades, despite this the Phenyzians still build new battleships and equip their frigates and destroyers with naval guns.

This doctrine had it's roots in the days before the unification of the ethnically Phenyzian states into one vast empire, previously the states often fought wars against each other and due to most of these states being landlocked the navy rarely played a significant role in these conflicts, even at the time of unification only four out of more than forty states had a significant naval force, which led to the Imperial Military focusing most of it's efforts on the army and later the air force, though the reign of Friedrich IV saw a significant strengthening of the navy it was still vastly inferior to the two larger branches.

The Imperial Navy was by no means weak, they had hundreds of ships including a few dozen supercarriers, but they were simply outclassed by the even larger Ausitorian navy, and the Phenyzian focus on fighting at a short distance rather than several hundred kilometers, like the Ausitorians do, didn't help either.

One might wonder whether the Admiral had gotten lost in his thoughts as he passed the saluting guards who then proceeded to follow him towards the waiting submarine, as for the Ralkovians they had the choice of either joining the landing Stumgrenadiers in Southcreek or the Admiral in his retreat.

Of course the enemy might quickly notice that something was off, the lack of combat air patrols or an AEW, the fleeing helicopters and submarines, it was rather obvious that this wasn't how things were supposed to go. And with merely an unfortunate skeleton crew without any officers remaining behind there were only a few gun and missile based CIWs, similar in range and efficiency to the ones encountered by the Ausitorians in Cadelia, to stop some of the incoming missiles

The missiles would strike, the ships would sink, but the Phenyzians didn't care.

Republic of Bluewell
Outskirts of Southcreek

Oberst Wilhelm Böhm, the commander of this particular force, folded his arms behind his back as he watched another group of Sturmgrenadiers leave their landing boat after it had reached the shore. They were outnumbered, outgunned and had no steady supply line, but it wouldn't be the first time the Surmgrenadiers, the Reich's elite force, had done the seemingly impossible, besides as long as they still had a clear plan on how to deal with the situation they'd be fine...

The first Sturmgrenadier infantry battalions were already approaching the city's outskirts, their orders for now were rather simple: capture the city, set up a command center, and then hold the entire population hostage while the city is being fortified. After this they would just need to hold their position until reinforcements arrived. Armed with StgW14-P assault rifles, stick grenades, Panzerfaust 12 and Panzerlanze 2 anti tank weapons, and a few Fliegerfaust 3, as a man-portable air-defense system, they had the best and most expensive infantry equipment of the Reich, especially when compared to what the average Reichswehr conscript was given.

Phenyzian Mainland
Stahlstadt, Headquarters of the Admiralität

Stahlstadt, the largest coastal city of the Reich was not just a thriving metropolis but also the location of the Imperial Navy's Admiralität, which was the Phenyzian equivalent to an Admiralty, here the Reich's military planners were already plotting their revenge. Großadmiral Heinrich von Heeringen, the newly appointed head of the Admiralität after Großadmiral Straßburg's unfortunate capture in Zelphos, walked down one of the long corridors of the palace-like building. If there was one thing the Phenyzians seemingly hated it was efficiency, everything had to be large and grand with little thought given to actual practicality, and of course the maze these headquarters have turned into over the years was no exception.

Finally the Großadmiral and his escort reached a large round chamber, with excessively decorated mosaic walls depicting 17th century galleons in battle and pillars adorned with pure gold and a large round table in the center. Palaces like this one were the reason why a portion of the general populace was starving while the military received budget increase after budget increase every single year.

Von Heeringen nodded at his fellow admirals who were already waiting for him. "Gentlemen, as you are aware the Ausitorians have wiped out the expeditionary fleet near Bluewell, just as we feared. It should be clear at this point that we need to shift our strategy away from openly engaging them on the sea, our future lies below the surface. I am of course talking about submarines, they will be the key to defeating the Ausitorians. We will crush their carrier fleet near Bluewell and afterwards our submarine squadrons will specifically target civilian and trading vessels. If we can interrupt their trade, their commonwealth will sooner or later fall apart. Any questions or objections? No? In this case: Gott mit uns, gentlemen."

The Großadmiral's speech was short, and there was little reaction from his fellow admirals, everyone nodded in agreement. Even if the operation failed, losing submarines was far less disastrous than losing even more carriers and battleships, besides if there was one thing deeply ingrained in Phenyzian society it was obedience to senior officers even if their plan was doomed to fail. This sheer blind obedience might be the reason the feudal systems of Phenyzian have survived to this day, no one ever seemed to dare criticizing those who rule over the Reich.

SCENE: ISS Harbringer, 5th Small Assault Naval Battlegroup, 3 Hours out of the Combat Theater

03:18 Hours
Admiral Yanamara had ordered the final preparations were being made for entry into the combat theater. Aircraft were being prepared n the decks of the various carriers and LHD's of the fleet. Transports were preparing to bring the Marines to the rally point. The Admiral stood at his position in the Command Center of the Super Dreadnought and was looking over the latest intelligence from the Allies of the Empire at the Forward Operating Base. His XO, Captain Gregory Thomas, walked up and looked over the varied paperwork that the Admiral was staring at, "Sir," he interrupted. "we are approaching radio distance from the fleets of our IFC Allies."
"Excellent," the Admiral replied. "Prepare our envoy to send to the fleets. Send a transmission via a secure communications link to our allies and notify them that we are to send an envoy via Helicopter. He will arrive in t minus 45 minutes."
Going back to the maps and other information, he sent a course correction to the helm in an effort to avoid as many of the enemy naval movements as he could. The helm reported that they made the minor adjustments and the rest of the fleet followed suit. He then leaned over and picked up a small radio to his right and punched in a code for one of the LHD's. "Prepare an SH-78 Searider with a Fire Team of Marines as well as our Envoy. We will deploy the aircraft in 15 Minutes. Have it armed with the standard weapons load-out just in case it is attacked."
The answer came over the radio from the bridge of the LHD, "Understood." He then walked out to an observation deck jut outside the bridge of the ship and looked out over the fleet, seeing the LHD that he contacted starting to lower one of the elevators down to the lower deck so it could bring the specified helicopter up onto the deck. He turned and walked back onto the bridge, going back over the information on his screen once more.

ARS Frontier, Operation: False Pillow

The shell hit just above, narrowly missing him. He glanced down the hull, and extended three fingers. In a synchronization could only call terrifying ten flashbands flew over the railing at exactly the same time, each one having a slightly different timer so that any that managed to not get hit by one were certain to be affected by another. As a well oiled machine the ten CR-04s of the team peered over the bottom of the railing, spraying bullets in a random pattern. Whilst the effects of the flashbangs were clearly still hampering the defenders the team swiftly hopped over the ships side. They were aboard.

They quickly put short bursts into any sailor they saw, and only thirty seconds after boarding they were positioning themselves at two hatches deeper into the ship. They quickly reloaded and affixed bayonets. The two groups would head for their own objectives. Team 1 would secure the bridge, while communications were being jammed by the Ethereal they didn't plan on taking any chances. Team 2 would secure engineering then the captured sailors. After that they would make a final sweep and turn the ship back around. But that was getting ahead of themselves. As they triple checked their weapons the lead man on each team pulled out two grenades. One was a flashbang, the other a teargas canister. As they both adjusted the timers the others pulled on their own gas masks and finally breached. The two grenades were thrown in quick succession of each other, and they threw open the doors and began sweeping the first rooms...

Combined 8th & 7th fleets
Battle of The Harbor

"They haven't taken the bait." Frowning the admiral turned towards the helm. "Detonate the mines, we might catch one that is closer to us. Continue full speed reverse, I want any subs to be caught in a forward depth charge run." The 8ht fleet continued its withdrawal. All to the plan still. As the range increased the anti-missile systems aboard the fleet would become more effective. They would withdraw to 120km and continue the exchange where the Pillowlandian offensive and defensive capabilities were most effective. As they began to withdraw the 7th fleet entered optimal firing range, beginning to bring to bear the full might of the VLS of its warships. The enemy strafing runs were simply obliterated, they were too slow and too close for any use besides being suicidal.

The enemy attacks by now were largely intercepted, and any strikes managed to be directed towards the 'tanks' of the fleet. Losses had decreased substantially as the distance increased. Now as the VLS of the 8th finished reloading, a full salvo was launched, joining the one from the 7th. The strike should be devastating, even if most of the missiles were intercepted.

PCS Intrepid
(the 1st boarded ship)

The ship being overwhelmed by people carrying swords was... humiliating. Well, Sergeant Mckinley would ensure that it didn't last. With him was the 25 marines meant to go ashore when they recaptured Benton. Now they would take back their ship. "Affix bayonets, they got swords." Slowly they moved through the ships, expertly navigating the passages. As they approached the bridge they stacked up. "On three." was whispered. moments later three flashbangs rolled into the room, when they detonated they kicked the hatch open. Everything standing got a burst to its head, with many of the marines yelling "For the Indomitable !" The bridge was quickly cleared, and they began moving to prepare to clear the CIC of any boarders...

PCS Griffin
(one being boarded now)

"Man the MGs, we got some folk who fancy themselves pirates!" The ship was abuzz with activity, the marine attachment running to the battlements and quickly loading the mounted guns before moving to the railing and opening fire with their rifles, at the same time the light 5" guns began tracking the small craft as they tried to destroy them. As the action began above deck the heavier weapons in the armory, grenade launchers, were being pulled out and loaded.

Port Common Airport

Much like the massive airlift operation that had happened in St. Nick, the small fright airport of Port Common had been commandeered to begin landing massive amounts of Pillowlandian men and material. In near identical order to the last one, 5,000 infantry, 80 IFVs and 12 medium Mk.V tanks were landed. They had a different mission than the I and II battalions of the division. They had orders to march to southcreek, the Phenyzian forces were too much of a threat to allow to remain in the equation. Already, local Bluewell forces were being overwhelmed by their advance. It was time to stop it.

Boarding Fultiboat 1

The crew took the grappling hooks away and prepared to depart but they saw the law from the bridge and gunfire

"They must've took them out" the captain said and ran back to the bridge to Stay away from them "At least they fired on a enemy ship so they might've been tricked. Every remaining crew members, sheath your cutlasses and prepare to attack" and he began to pick up pace and ordered to fire on the PCS Intrepid, guns fired on the intrepid but almost no damage was done to the crew members and then the captain ordered the cannons to fire on the bridge, making sure that if they didn't kill the remaining members, they would have to bring the boat down to the sea.

The two Boarding Fultiboats
The Crew members were quickly being slaughtered, the crew's last thoughts were "It worked for the pirates why didn't it worked for us?" and died from the bullets.

The crew on the other side of the Fultiboat's didn't even cross the other side and died on the Fultiboat itself but the other light cruiser, the one armed were trying to get rid of their side of trouble and non of the two boat's were swinging men across and then a navy man showed all his comrades a flashbang, pulled the pin and then threw the grenade to the other side making the Vulkatan's close their eyes but not the other side making some of the other Fultiboat crew members dizzy and disoriented but with this distraction the other Fultiboat shot the machine gunners that was disoriented and then began to swing to the other side but the Vulkatan's the met marines with rifles and can't find any cover fast enough to hide so they just fired in plain sight easily shot but there was a late navy man who didn't swing carrying a mosin grant and shot some of the Pillowlandian's that was killing his comrades.

With some of the marines were dispatched they started taking out the other machine gunners which already knew their presences and started shooting them but this time with some cover and they flanked the marines outside the bridge and the machine gunners and gave the other Fultiboat a chance to swing and attack their enemies and even with the casualities and ineffectiveness of sword vs rifles numbers won the day.

The men went for the bridge but they wouldn't bulge plus there's more men inside they know it so a navy man asked if any of his comrades had duct tape, one of them had one and he was part of the ship with weapons wearing that the ammo he packed would've been wet in the middle of the conflict and the navy man taped a stick grenade and pulled the pin and ordered his friends to run and when the door blows up attack as quickly as they can

McKinley's MacArthur Destroyer
The crew members looked at the battle, it was a total war their and they regretted being here and all of the ships their using are donations for the Armus to support the war effort.

McKinley sat on his chair and put his hands together hoping that at least if the Vulkatan's didn't survive maybe the donations will and waited for any progress.

"Sir sir" a private told him holding a walkie talkie "we got a update and it's not good" he refused to take the walkie talkie and just watched the scene unravel

St Paul's medical hospital
"Ok Mr Yalkovic" the nurse said "tomorrow you can leave, your motorcade will get to the capitol building alright?" and John smiled and went to sleep

It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

4th and 8th Battalion, Outside of Kach, 0300

The 20mm chain guns were firing as fast as they could. General Kin had made the withdrawal look like a well planned assault on the Pillowlandian forces. As the Republican troops pushed out of the city, the right flank began to encircle the rear of the Pillow forces, which encouraged them to go further into Kach. However, it was all a trick. Though the right flank did begin to move to encircle, they kept going straight, only completing half of the maneuver. From there, the battle group pushed to the airport and set up a defensive position.

Bomber Group Delta, Kach,0330

Each bomber had a specific lane to stay and bomb. Right before land fall, the group got into the attack formation. 420,000 pounds of bombs fell onto Kach, obliterating whole blocks, including the capital building. Number of civilian and enemy casualties are unknown, but it doesn't matter. They were hit hard.

ARS Frontier

"Order Engineering to lockdown. Do not allow them to reach the engine room! I want two teams on the deck now to secure it. Have three teams move to engage the enemy. We must maintain control of this ship!" "Sir, what about the prisoners?" Captain Wallace pauses, "No harm is to come to them. However, I will not lose this ship for their safety nor have Republican sailors die for them. If it comes down to it, we will call a truce." The Ensign nods.

The Chief Petty Officer closes the last bulkhead and latches it closed. "Get those cabinets over here and bring that table. Get your masks on just in case, I've feeling we may need them" A young sailor sets a brown box on the ground and opens it, "Hey Chief, they gave use grenades" "Geez, things must be really bad." In total, there were 10 sailors in the engine room. Each armed with either a shotgun or an M4. "We will hold this position at all cost"

The five teams moved onto the deck and swept it. Then, they broke up. Two teams would stay above deck while three went below to flush out the enemy. The ship was only so big and there were logical places the enemy would go. It was only a matter of time before they forced contact.

Benton Harbor, Task Force Lima

"Ma'am, one of the frigates is picking up min..." To late. An explosion hits a nearby cruiser, "Full stop! All ships full stop!" The order is relayed, but to before a sub hits a mine. "Ma'am, radar is picking up another enemy fleet incoming" "Jesus, its a fucking trap! Recall all aircraft and prepare for missile defense." There was a pause, "All aircraft have already returned ma'am, we're down to eight." Admiral Young stood in silence. Eight...out of hundred plus. "What are we even doing here...?"

The Task Force linked up with the First Fleet, who was barely hanging on. From there, the Republican ships began to reverse course as well, heading to the east side of island. There was no a giant naval statement at Bluewell. Any missile fired from either side would be detected and shot down way before they could do any damage. All that could really be done was sub warfare, but that was risky. It was time to just wait and see who moved first.

0023 Hours: En Route to Bluewell Island, 4th Regiment, 10th Airborne Division

A ringing signal aboard the C-17 Globemasters jolted the paratroopers up and helped them to awake as their long flight from Guadalupador would soon be over within the hour. Many of the paratroopers checked their parachutes over and over, giving them something to pass the very short time from crossing international waters into Bluewellian Airspace. A voice crackled over the speaker in each of the aircraft ferrying the 4th Regiment. Regimental Commander Lt. Colonel Aytamo Sudrii addressed his men and women, who were about to jump into the breach:

"Soldiers, this will be the first Guadalupadorian combat operation since the Uprising over seven months ago. We will be assisting our International Freedom Coalition allies, and the people of Bluewell fight imperial domination. We are fighting for a people's right to decide for themselves how they want to live. May we seize victory from the maw of our enemies. Over and out."

Each CO gave their company's a five minute warning. Each paratrooper stood up, and went over final preparations for their jump into Bluewell. Tank and LAV crews got in their vehicles, and waited for the eventual green light. Each C-17's aft ramp slowly opened to a pitch black night sky. Within seconds, the green light was given, and 4th Regiment was jumping over Bluewell. Earlier in the day, two MQ-1 Reconnaissance UAVs surveyed Crossroads City and the surrounding area, giving planners an accurate map to set drop zones in the outskirts of the city. Over the cover of night, the regiment of Guadalupadorian airborne infantry, armor, and artillery dropped around the outskirts of Crossroads City over four drop zones: Two in the northwest end of the city, and two on the south-east end of the city. Their mission once on the ground was to fortify the roads going in and out of the city, capturing and fortifying the airport to be used as a Command Post, and fortify positions westward toward Fort St. John. Purely a defensive operation, and with allied air cover, it shouldn't be much trouble at all.

1st and 2nd Battalions went straight to work on fortifying and camouflaging positions along the western outskirts of the city, creating a defensive line facing Fort St. John, where enemy forces were expected to be present. 3rd and 4th Battalions created positions and watched the roads to heading into Crossroads City. 5th Battalion occupied itself with heading into the city proper, and seizing the airport as a fortified CP, and a well needed airbase. Many Dorian paratroopers expected that this operation would only last for a few weeks before the Pro-Annexation forces would withdraw in defeat, this however didn't affect their preparedness for any enemy movement on Crossroads City, they were to be ever vigilant. The Dorians were going to hold the line.

625KM NORTH OFF THE COAST OF NORTH ISLAND, 1ST FLEET

Music for our execution

"The first fleet has been dispatched just outside of radar range sir," said Warrant officer Yates standing ready for orders from his superior. "Good. We will remain in position until the enemy makes their move." Satoshi ordered, "The enemy's radar spans a 600km radius around the island. Our first fleet will draw attention, and will perform orders that I have given to them once they have visual on the enemy. Then our submarine fleets which we dispatched prior, will intercept as we have discussed."

"Dispatch forces and begin missile bombardment of the enemy base once phase one is complete, prepare to engage any remaining naval forces in the area."

600KM OFF THE COAST OF THE NORTH ISLAND, 2ND FLEET, HEADING SOUTHWEST

"Keep ships at cruising speed!" Ordered Captain Harvey, "Notify me radar contact, and keep sonar active. Once you have acquired visuals of the enemy ships, we will begin leading them to the designated point, one slip up may cost us heavily!" This plan has to be executed with the most finesse in order to work, our subs are posted outside of patrol range of enemy naval fleets, hopefully we can lead them out and hold them off long enough for our main force to begin attacks on the island...

600KM WEST OFF THE COAST OF THE NORTH ISLAND, SUBMARINE TASK FORCE

"The others have began phase one of the plan, preparing for phase two ETA 0290," stated a navigation officer. "Once the 2nd fleet arrives to the designated point engaging the enemy, we will engage in an ambush, target their missile cruisers and submarines, our destroyers will knock out their radar on the base with missiles as we are occupied with their navy. Reports have said that our enemy possess a extremely dangerous anti-naval weapon, we will have to take caution when facing them.
Let us gain absolute victory, even if we are to be sentenced to hell for it.

NRS Balerion
560 km North of MOBY

"Sonar to Conn" the OOD looked up from the map. He has checking their position. "Conn to Sonar, what is it?"

"Sonar to Conn, I've just picked up a large group of ships. I mean it's a decent size. I approximate range at 65 km. I can't tell the size of the fleet, but it's a decent size." Shit thought the OOD. "Captain to the bridge, red alert" he called over the intercom. Captain Marcus Valerianus appeared a minute later with his First Officer, Commander Iulianus Porcius a few seconds behind him.

"What's going on?" asked the Captain.

"Sonar reports a large group of ships north of our position. I've consulted the map; they're most likely out of range of any AWACS we may be flying" reported the OOD.

"Ok, I have the Conn" said the Captain. The navigator responded with "Captain has the Conn." Valerianus sat in The Chair. "Navigator, come up to periscope level."

"Coming up to periscope level, aye."

"Comms, send a message to ROMCOMBLUTH and ROMSUBCOM advising them of the situation. Also report that on my authority I am engaging the enemy forces. Request reinforcements."

The Comms officer wrote himself a note so he wouldn't forget, and echoed: "Sending message to ROMCOMBLUTH and ROMSUBCOM advising them of the situation. also reporting engagement and requesting reinforcements, aye!"

"Con to Torpedo Room 1, make tubes one, two, three and four ready in all aspects, including opening the outer doors" Ordered the Captain.

"Torpedo Room 1 to Con, make tubes one, two, three and four ready in all aspects, including opening the outer doors, aye" replied the Officer in charge.

"Con to Torpedo Room 2, make tubes five and six ready in all aspects, including opening the outer doors."

"Torpedo Room 1 to Con, make tubes five and six ready in all aspects, including opening the outer doors, aye" replied the Officer in charge.

"I want the VLS to be ready to launch if we get any info from the RORSATs. Helm, bring her up to 2/3rds, don't captivate."

"Bringing her up to 2/3rds, not captivating, aye." The Balerion began to head toward the fleet. The torpedoes in the inventory were Mark 48 Mod 7 CBASS. These were highly advanced torpedoes, first put in service in 2008. They could be maneuvered by the submarine while they were connected by wires. If detached, their active SONAR would drive them to their target. "Captain, we have a positive firing solution on four targets" the officer at the Fire Control Station (FCS) reported.

"Captain, we are 35 km to target" the FCS reported. The Captain nodded, "Fire tubes one, two, three, and four. Close tubes and reload."

"Tubes one, two, three, and four are fired. We have four fish in the water" reported the FCS. In Torpedo Room 1, the tubes were reloaded.

Designated IFC HQ, MOBY
"Praetor Lucretius?" a young Officer walked up with a worried look on he face. Though she was fresh from the Academy, she was never overtly nervous around Lucretius. This can't be good if she's nervous around me. He took a note she was offering him. He opened it, and his face turned ashen. "Fuck" he cursed under his breath. Lucretius looked up at the Officer "Send a message to the Praetorian Guard Building, let them know that I approve this action. Order the Bellona Group to exit Port Z and engage the fleet. Begin scrambling fighters to engage the enemy fleet. I want RORSAT confirmation and have them coordinate with the Balerion for their VLS tubes." She tried to remember all that as she replied with a "Yes, sir" and a salute.

The Praetor turned to the others. "I was just given terrible news. A submarine we had north of this island has reported an unknown fleet heading this way. They have gone to engage. I have ordered the Bellona to engage as well, along with my fighters. The 27th air defense Century is currently stationed on the island. They will be activated. Gentlemen, this is very grave. We must act fast."

ROMCOMSUB/Praetorian Guard Building
Both command facilities went crazy, in a controlled way, after that news was received. The Caesar, who was still in Austoria, was updated, and the various commanders began coming up with possible battle scenarios, to see what the outcome may be. Others scrambled, looking for any possible reinforcements to the area. The Caesar Group was on the wrong side of Bluewell, along with their submarine escort. They began messaging the other military commands of the allies: Austoria, Pillowland, Shazbotdom, and Rhinocera.

Orbit
The RORSAT was shifted by an operator on the ground so it had a view of the Bluewellian Islands. It's live feed was fed to ROMCOMSUB. It showed a fleet of ships heading toward MOBY. Data was downloaded on speed, distance, etc and a fire solution was being worked for the VLS on the Balerion. If only they had more time...

Northeast of MOBY
The Vikdenian fleet had been communicated about the fleet north of MOBY, and the Admiral in command had the fleet redirected to attack the enemy fleet. They were a few hours out, so they wouldn't be much help in the beginning. The Admiral just hoped that they would arrive in time.

The fleet also began ASW operations so no enemy submarines could sneak up on the fleet.

Link Airport, Northern Coast of Bluewell

"Battalion, stand and eft !", cried the voice of an obviously eager drill sergeant through the night. At his command, about 800 boots made the distinctive noise of hard plastic meeting concrete. Drums started playing. An officer clad in a shiny uniform marched along the lines of the 2nd Ross Regiment of Foote, inspecting every movement they were making. Isle´ish liked their Call to Musters. An old tradition they would do before every battle. After having passed the last man, the officer, apparently the battalions commander, turned to his second-in-command. "Inform the general the 2nd Ross is eft...", "Aye, mine lord !". The Second-in-Command snapped a quick salute.

The situation in the Divisional Headquarters was less formal. Major General Rhodes was a soldier, yes, but more so he was a strategist. "2nd Ross stands eft, mine lord !" he was told by the bypassing officer. "Valorous...," he responded "Gardener, hast all battalion commanders attendeth our final meeting in one hour. We art did press for timeth. I wanteth this city... Kach right ? ... retaken within seventytwo hours, else we might visage a prolonged siege, and nobody wishes for a siege..."

Excerpt from “A History of how to be stylish (i.e. Ausitorian)”, published circa 941,031 AD.

[...]

“Operation Tuning Fork”, as it came to be known, has been hailed by observers as the most celebrated Ausitorian Operation of the 3rd Millenium – not for the tactics or the strategy, which, being composed of RORSAT intelligence followed by strike forces, were mundane to the point of tedium – but rather for the momentous decision to name an Operation for absolutely nothing warlike at all. As such, the operation marked the first time that the Imperial Commonwealth had finally given up on even trying to work out new warlike names for Operations.

It was a point of no return. Henceforth, even military operations started their ‘descent’ into irreverence. Within three relative centuries, Ausitoria was fighting operation “Green Gummy Bears”, a wormhole-based landing, a similarly conventional operation against the 4th Great Interstellar Rashkan Confederation, before any Prime Minister even attempted to reverse the ‘decline’.

[…]

100 km East of Moby
K-773, T-Wing

Although no doubt Wing Commodore Jacob Mogs would have been gratified to know that Operation Tuning Fork would be the subject of learned discourse for the entire remainder of time (if Ausitoria had its way), he had more immediate concerns.

It was not, in general, a good idea to approach a coast under the protection of elements of the Ausitorian Coastal Force. Indeed merely being within three thousand kilometres of elements of the Ausitorian Air Force was generally highly inadviseable. However, it was perhaps a little easier to approach than it might have been, thanks to the difficulties of co-ordinating between multiple forces.

When he had taken off ten minutes previously, he had been told that his wing of Krakens (70 in all) would have an Ausitorian fighter escort of 2 squadrons of Dragonsharks (i.e. 48) and one squadron of F-IIIs (i.e. 24). Now, the fighter escort was joining the attack the other prong (bringing it up to 70 Krakens, 96 Dragonsharks, 24 Panthers, and 24 F-IIIs), and he was going to be relying upon the distraction created by the Roman Fighters to sneak in…

Moby

The Air Liason Officer, Fleet Marshal Countess Ariadne Stapleton, spoke up. “Grand Praetor, Sir, my Air Command has issued a new proposal: Operation Tuning Fork. We’ve spotted another enemy fleet about the same distance away in another direction, identified by RORSAT and then we sent up a few AWACS to verify their communications signals. So we’ve decided to hit both simultaneously – we can, and we think we should.

Our strike aircraft, as you know, are the Krakens, and given that they each carry about 30 tonnes of missiles, I think we would be justified in timing the attack around their launches. There will be a Wing of 70 of them for each prong.

So: at a distance of 300 km, we can fire 850 Long-Range Brimstone 2000 missiles at the enemy fleet, at 200 km we can fire 850 Chattakang Stand-Off missiles. Then if it’s safe they can close in and finish off the survivors with packs of short-range missiles.

The Krakens fly at a rate of 20 km per minute. At a firing distance of 120 km from any enemy aircraft, they can launch 2000 anti-air missiles against any opposing fighters. They are formidable in strike mode, and have superb CIWS, but even then they can only manage Mach 1 and can’t maneouver for toffee against any enemy fighters, so can you please vector additional fighter support over them to protect their part of the strike?”

Almost everywhere else

The hero of the Ausitorian army was not the soldier in the field. It was not the generals in their HQs. It was not the administrator. It was, in fact, the engineer in the field, thought Commodore Argus Juniper, Commander of the 843rd HQ & Engineering Battalion.

Armed with various clever derivatives of the MR9 APC line, they could build roads (both dirt and tarmacked), railways, bridges, airfields, pipes, communications, bunkers, barracks, ammunition dumps, trenches, and all the various sorts of things that the naïve were apt to forget to plan for. The army had called for a 3-way road linking Commerce and Newpass, which would involve a link road some 9 meters across and 30 or 40 km long, an all-round defended base stretching some 30 by 30 kilometers on the east side of the link road boringly named ‘Fort Link’, and various defensive improvements to the towns Northpass, Commerce, and Coaltown, and a tarmacked runway with a fortified distributed airbase for about an air wing on the road to Methodist – naturally christened ‘Link Airport’.

The story was much the same near Melson, with a base being requested on the north of the crossroads, and a fortified airbase in between the crossroads and Melson, similarly straightforwardly called Melson Fort and Melson Airport.

And so that was what they were getting, thought the Commodore, with no small sense of satisfaction from that thought.

But much as the Commodore Argus Juniper of the 843rd HQ & Engineering Battallion thought the engineer was the hero of the army, this view was not entirely shared by the administrators in the Ausitorian Air Force, in particular one certain Air Marshal Harris Presidus, of the improvised Bluewell Strategic Air Group. He had 250 transports (about a twentieth of the entire Ausitorian supply) under his command and was carrying out the air-drop of no less than 2 Brigades of 6,000 men each – the most that had ever been ferried this distance, several thousand kilometres over the south pole from the Home Realms (including two in-flight refuelling operations carried out by a Stategic Tanker Wing).

There was the Link Brigade, with two Batallions to hold the fort and one for each town, plus another for the Airbase, and two HQ & Engineering Batallion, one for Link Fort and Link Airport; and a Tank Batallion in the centre to relieve any point. There was the Fort Guardian ‘Guards’ Brigade for protecting the Ausitorian fighter contingent: 2 Infantry Batallions, 1 Combined Arms, and an HQ & Engineering Batallion. Then there was the “Melson Brigade”, with 6 Battallions, 3 Combined Arms and 3 Infantry, originally to have been divided evenly between the fort, the city, and the Airbase, with an HQ & Engineering Batallion in the Airbase in the centre, although there had been a last minute change of plan to split it in two, with 2 Combined Arms Batallions and 1 Infantry unit to go to reinforce Southcreek. And then there was the Strategic Reserve Brigade of the Bluewell Division, for some reason parachuted in first to secure the entire south-west while the Fleet’s forces landed the Division – thank god, not his responsibility. The first required 211 trips, the second 480 trips, the third required 470 trips, and the fourth 190 trips - and that was an awfully large number of parachutes (enough to make plenty of pairs of socks – a grin tugged on the corner of his mouth). The drop would be finished within 36 hours, everything going to plan. And then there was fighter escort for all the transports – 200 Panthers, Lightning IIIs, Dragonsharks, and Radegasts flown in from Ausitoria, courtesy of the Space Forces, the Air Force, the Navy, and the Army: a remarkable collection indeed!

But all that was only the start of it. The demands of aerial supply for these forces alone would require about half of his transports every day, mostly simply getting supplies from Aestoria to Port Z, and then he had air drops to co-ordinate over the rest of the country according to the whims of the home power, who would understandably be slightly infuriated by Ausitorians fortifying large parts of their country and having the impertinence to ask for the occasional building to be demolished simply to improve lines of fire – even if they were ready to offer cash compensation for the disruption. And then there was the construction of the aerodromes, for quite beside the use of the 4000 lb shaped airblast to clear the airfields of obstacles and the use of air-supplied precision munitions to hurry up quarrying, there was a squadron of specially modified transports that sprayed down a supply of a special polymer-aggregate to help firm up the airfield - and even then they needed a great amount of hired civilians! All in all his transports would require some 25 million Litres of Fuel per day, an entire Fleet Oil Tanker per week. It was fortunate indeed that his HQ had some of the brightest minds in the country to co-ordinate it all: most could have been of first-class service in any really good post office or departmental store, except that they were better paid in the Air Force.

As he looked at the map, he smiled: it was growing ever closer to what they had planned. Of course wars never went exactly as expected, and a plan never survived contact with the enemy completely intact – that Southcreek landing had required some pretty hair-raising modifications - but overall, it was a delight to see a well-organized plan being properly executed… and under his watch too. What could be better?
