66 YEARS LONG STATE OF EMERGENCY ENDING SOON; DEMOCRACY TO BE RESTORED; JUNTA-MONARCHY GIVES UP ABSOLUTE POWER

ARCHANGEL - In a rather surprising move the outgoing Chancellor of the Realm; Lord Auliad von Rezata, announced today that the Imperial Government will lift the emergency ordinance which had been put into effect since the Cold War; ending what is currently the longest State of Emergency in the history of modern world. The current emergency had been placed into effect since the beginning of the Communist Insurgency which began in the year 1950, and until today it had lasted for 66 years.
The Emergency, which had been declared by the then Emperor Kashawin dai Taurii, was placed in order to curb the growing communist threat; the first general elections ever held in the country in the year 1950 had been dominated by left wing parties and socialist which was deemed pro-communist by the former Imperial Dynasty, and is seen as threat to the fledgling monarchy which had just survive World War II. Since then, all communist and socialist political parties had been banned from the country; certain civic rights; press freedom and political freedom had been suspended throughout the nation, and the greatest impact for the country was that the 1950 Aeyariss Constitution was never ratified by the Parliament, and the the transition of Aeyariss from an absolute monarchy to a constitutional parliamentary monarchy was postponed indefinetly.
Lord Rezata, in his announcement, had stated that this changes was supposed to take place at the end of the Cold War 26 years ago; communist insurgency had been defeated, and the Aeyariss nation had survived.
"Today the communist are no longer a threat to the security of the Aeyariss and her people; we've won." Lord Rezata was quoted earlier today, explaining on behalf of His Majesty Emperor Raizen that this country will soon embrace a whole new political stance fit for the ever challenging the international political scene.
"This move is long overdue, to be honest, and it was the personal wishes of His Majesty and the rest of the Shivarii Dynasty to see this dreams that Aeyariss become a more liberal nation a reality, for far too long the Emergency Ordinance had been abused by the previous dynasty and its administrations to further their own needs and wants. It wasn't designed for regime security at the first place, but unfortunately that was what happened in the pasts. Simple truth is, Aeyariss should stop being an absolute monarchy 66 years ago, but it wasn't possible under the Taurii Dynasty but the current ruling House sees things differently." he revealed with as smiled on his face before the stunned press corps today.
On the question what steps are to be taken in this political transformation, the Chancellor said that transformation will be gradually; "We don't want to tear the fabric of society too fast, and too much... I have absolute confidence that the people of Aeyariss will appreciate these changes. We will begin slowly, but consistently, of course the main emphasize is to rejuvenate the political movement throughout the nation which had unfortunately stagnated in the last six decades. We will restore the governance system as per outlined in the 1950 Constitution which will see the creation of a bicameral parliamentary, those movement will take time of course. People who wishes to be involves in politics are free to do so."
"Controversial laws created during the Emergency and Cold War, like the Internal Security Act 1953 which allows detention without trial will be reviewed and amended in more fitting context. That law too had been abused in this country for so many time. That should be seen as a step in the right direction to improve our civil rights standing to other liberal nations. Of course it's a step by step. We don't want to be making too many changes at once."
"The Country will become a Constitutional Monarchy, and the role of the Emperor and the Royal House will be converted to that of a ceremonial roles with limited responsibilities, but His Majesty will remain the symbol of unity in this country. Our overseas Dominion and Protectorates too will enjoy in this changes; should they wishes they can formally become part of Greater Aeyariss and not just our semi-colony status; or they too can choose to regain their full sovereignty once again. Of course, something will be done with the mutual defense agreement that we had with our Protectorates in the Malayan-Sumatera Strait Dominion and the Protectorate of Somalia and Crown Colony of Kenya and Tanzania."
And regarding Aeyariss membership in Santiago Anti-Communist Treaty Organization;
"We will look into that as well, our membership will be review, and since our national interests changes and considered as no longer aligned with the anti-communist movement, initial considerations is to remove our self from that military alliance as we will no longer be able to uphold our commitments to the rest of the members...but of course, for our security measures, something can be work out with the more centrist members of SACTO, if not, our relations with them will be strenghten at the economic and social level, not just security as it traditionally was.
"Aeyariss has always been a centrist nation, even under a right wing hybrid monarchy-stratocracy. But like all nations, Aeyariss has no permanent friends nor permanent enemies; only aligned interests. It's time for us to pursue a new direction in achieving those interest."
