Nation name: (Second) Yucatan Republic
Flag (use a spoiler):(Image)
Population: 1.4 Military
Territory (if fictional):(Image)
Head of Government: Juan Menendez
History (if fictional):Founded after Collapse of Mexican government in 1963 due to an increase in the Cartels power. The government of Mexico became corrupt and it's own soldiers often turned out to be working for a cartel. This resulted in massive cartel wars across the country which the government often got involved in, joining one side or the other. Many Mexicans fled to Yucatan where a force of uncorrupted government forces were stationed. They then founded the Yucatan Republic based on the earlier Republic of Yucatan in the mid 1900s. The government forces focused on eliminating Cartels within Yucatan and protecting its borders. Today Yucatan is an economic power considering its size and position. Despite being a formerly neglected state of Mexico Yucatan has a suprisingly high literacy rating of 90.61%.
Head of State*: Juan Menendez
Military size*: 30,000
Religion: Secular, Catholic Majority

This lasted quite long. It's 2000 now and I think a good way to get activity going is to start a new OOC, keep the same map and pick off from where we left off.

You mean keep the IC as well or just the map?
Either way I think it's a good idea, since the sheer number of posts on the current OOC could easily be offputting to a lot of people.

New OOC, new IC, same map and we start from where we left off.
Which reminds me you never added my control of France, the city of Carthage, Montenegro, the Adriatic coastline and Bulgaria

Nation name: The Republic of Oyo, (informal) Oyo
Flag (use a spoiler):(Image)
Population: 3,000,000
Territory (if fictional):
Head of Government: Gberu Oladipo
History (if fictional): In the beginning of the 15th century, when Oyo was established, it was met with amazing organizational skills due to the Yoruba people's and it was known in west Africa for its powerful Calvary. The nation had declared war on multiple of the cultural tribes in the area , most notable conquest being Dahomey, which is in original timeline's modern day country of Benin. Oyo had expanded along the south west African coast, not choosing to go inland due to them needing a good water supply. This expansion took a while to accomplish and a bit further to integrate the cultures into the empire, whose primary culture was Yoruba, which clashes with some of the surrounding cultures. After this integration happened, Oyo had launched invasions of the Benin tribe, the war lasted a surprisingly long time, at least five years. Ultimately, the Oyo Conquest of Benin had resulted in a failure, and no land had swapped hands. Instead of focusing on gaining more lands, Oyo had then decided to rest and wait, which resulted in a boom in population now that the men were back home, and a much needed rest on the economy, who found the war rather straining. Shortly after the war, the current leader at the time died of battle wounds. His son, Ade Ladipo, had taken the throne after his demise. He was possibly one of the most influential rulers in Oyo history. His rule saw a number of economic and, due to the Europeans now meeting them with trade ships, technological reforms. With more contact with Europeans and valuable trade deals, he was able to even establish dynastic ties with certain European nations, and he had gotten his hands on the maps of Europe. The entire European world now was in the sight of the Oyo. With more advanced technology that it's less advanced neighbors, Oyo was able to spread its influence out into other nations. They had soon threatened the nearby tribe of Dagbon to give them yearly monetary payment to avoid war. Being unable to have guns, he tribe agreed, and the economy did benefit from this. One European power had happened to invade Oyo, and this didn't bode well for the tribal kingdom. The westerners knew more advanced techniques then the Oyo, who was still distributing guns to every soldier of the army. The resulting war did start poorly for the Oyo, who were still attempting to recover from the Oyo Conquest of Benin. It ended up with the entire coastline being occupied before Oyo could gain an upper hand. Due to having less advanced ships, they were unable to take the fight to Europe, which resulted in yet another stalemate with no land being swapped. With the death of Ade Ladipo, the Oyo Age of Advancement stopped as well. The ruler died due to European illness. His son, Lamidi Ladipo, had then taken the throne. Lamidi tried to live up to his father's legacy, but the boy, born to a European mother and an African father, had a hard time leading his people. The spread of Christianity had a rather expected affect on the empire. The spread of a new religion caused international conflict that the ruler had to fix. Being influenced by recently converted Christian advisors, the new king had sided with the Christians, throwing the kingdom into a period that'd be known as The Oyo Spiritual Strife, where the two religions of the empire, Yoruba and Catholic, had struggled to gain more dominance in politics. The king stayed in a type of religious turmoil as he tried to juggle the two religions and not base solutions on religion, but he found that religion held a part in everything. The religious strife had ended when Lamidi, in a final way to prove who he was faithful to, committed ritual suicide. He died unable to live up to his family legacy. His brother, though, Abipa, named after his grandfather, ascended to the throne. The Oyo Spiritual Strife ended that day, with a law banning all forms of Christianity. There was much unrest and rebellion due to this, but they were all stomped out by the Oyo military. Abipa had expanded the kingdom further down the Ghanan coast in a rather short war. The newly conquered land was given to generals who fought bravely in the army as rewards and they were treated as vassals. The only problem was that one of these vassals, General and Count Kori Ajayi, was secretly a Christian faithful. Now with having the roll of a Count as well as a general of the army, he had an influential roll in the government. He didn't use this influence right away though, but instead focused on his county. He taught his soldiers personally and forced the teachings of the bible. Yes, there was the possibility of word getting out, which was why this was so risky, but he took the risk. Years later he had declared war on the king for the throne, sending the empire into a conflict known as The Oyo Religion War, with intent on installing himself as the new Catholic King. The conflict lasted for only two years before Kori was killed in battle, ending the rebellion altogether. Afterwards, the empire entered a state of calm for a long time, being able to resist European influence by becoming isolationists, similar to Japan in our timeline, and managed to keep Catholicism at bay for the most part, but some still chose the teachings of Christ over their tribal faith. Despite this isolationist view, liberty's bells would soon ring and call for rebellion as an unjust ruler, Onigbogi Ladipo, had started to out unjust and unfair laws and taxes upon the citizens. He'd judge most personally and always declare them guilty and sentenced to death. A man by the name of Ojigi Taiwo had lit the match for the rebellion's fire by starting public protests in the western most part of the nation, which attracted many protestors. Eventually they marched to the capital, passing by any county capital to dispose of any counts by killing them, and then they marched to the capital. The corrupt King had summoned the army, but they were called on such short notice that they were unable to become organized in such little time. The army was fought and then quickly dispersed before the revolutionary army marched towards the capital. The rebellion only lasted a year before the king died, his head chopped off and then buried in a shallow grave. Oyo would then become a republic, with voting rights for all men except women. A type of constitution was made to limit the power of the government, written by some of Oyo's finest minds, and the new government seemed to be successful for the time being, with Ojigi Taiwo being the first president of The Republic of Oyo. Afterwards the republic opened its borders and allowed for immigrants to come in. Religion was still a problem domestically, but the government took no major part in it. Afterwards, the republic entered another state of peace, and this stayed for a long time. During World War One the republic stayed neutral, and during World War Two it had sided with the allies, but didn't offer too much help in the war besides supplying soldiers for D-Day. In the Cold War it had once again remained on the neutral side of things as the government was having political arguments, with communism being one of the most influential political parties. For a few years, the government did have a communist president, who attempted to enact reforms that went against the constitution. Luckily this didn't work well for him and the republic didn't turn into a type of communist dictatorship. The president had ran for reelection, but this led to him not succeeding and instead a different political party was voted and put into power. Now in the current year of 2000, the republic of Benin is having a time of peace still, with all problems of religion gone, and everyone has a decent standard of living and the economy is luckily not much of a problem. Despite this there are some homeless people, of course, but most have jobs and homes.
