Civil War in Mexico (Open to all)

WAR BREAKS OUT
At approximately 9:02 AM yesterday morning, six hundred Federalist rebels stormed the city of Chihuahua and took more than half of it before the national guard could slow their advance. Hundreds of pro-Federalist civilians joined the ranks of the insurgents and are currently pushing back government forces. The government has declared a state of civil war, with several distinct factions forming. Outside nations are expected to become involved, and the future of Mexico is uncertain.

Factions
  • The Federalists: Rebels in favor of creating a far-right expansionist state. Suspected to be backed by the United Fascist States of North America. They have a slight advantage due to a head start in the fighting, but are otherwise tied with the Imperialists.
  • The Imperialists: A powerful rebel group in favor of creating an Imperial Monarchy. Tied in power with the Federalists.
  • The Communists: A weaker rebel group in favor of creating a Leninist-style communist state. They are weaker than the above two, but fight with a vengeance.
  • The Theocrats: A radical group in favor of creating a right-leaning Roman Catholic theocracy. Roughly tied in power with the Communists.
  • The Azteca: The weakest and most radical of the rebel groups, the Azteca wish to form a new Aztec Empire spanning central America. They believe in their gods and support human sacrifice.
  • The government: Wishes to keep a stable, liberal democracy in Mexico while making few, if any, concessions to the various rebels. Also wishes to oppose the UFSNA's influence in the Western Hemisphere. Stronger than any of the rebels by themselves, but is having trouble controlling each of the fronts.
  • The Chiapas Rebels: A group of sustenance farmers from the Chiapas State, they have had a hatred for corporate farmers since the formation of the Mexican-Canadian FAFTA in the 1990s. They are increasingly militant and may be supplied with more advanced weapons by the drug trade.

OOC: Good roleplaying is expected. Posting is welcome. Yo may back any of the forces. Godmodding is a one-way instant pass to Banland. Only use reasonable numbers for troops- you may not exceed 1.5 million until much later in the war.

MT or mild PMT ONLY!

The Terrriconian People's Federation declares its support for the Communist Faction in Mexico. Chairman Cesar Kim-Rommel has called for the Communists to side with the government for the time being to wipe out the reactionary forces and imperialist invaders threatening the country.

OOC: That one creepy nation that will choose to be the lone supporter of the Azteca...

Well, this is looking like a pretty one-sided war now.

OOC: I'd recommend only of Mexico, and maybe myself (LDM is part of my nation's lore, and vice-versa), but I'd recommend not having one for the world (it severely limits our choices of RPers, because people tend to choose overlapping territories when they start on NS, especially in Europe, the Middle East, and East Asia). Maybe a map of LDM's canon version of south hand central america, as well, because ISIS has taught us that insurgencies know no bounds. However, these maps would not limit NSers who have overlapping territories that go against the canon of LDM or others from participating.

Just a suggestion.

That's the territory gained by the Federalists. No other faction has made significant gains yet. The rest of Mexico is gov't-controlled.

The Empire of Vulnier shall remain neutral in this conflict. But we will provide medicine and aid for the displaced citizens of Mexico via neutral field hospitals where ever needed.

OOC: I'll ask LDM, but since they're separate factions, they probably won't cooperate- if they do, that will end when one or the other tries to form an official Mexican government, in the same way that if the Kurds and the Moderates cooperate in the civil war in Syria, the moderates still may not grant independence to Syrian Kurdistan if they somehow took power in Syria.

Unless LDM says otherwise, though, you're free to support both.
