Schmetternde Schwerter (CLOSED, OOC)

Overview

This is the OOC thread for our new RP "Schmetternde Schwerter", or roughly translated as Smashing Swords. Please keep in mind that this roleplay is for members of Septentrion and affiliated people only. IC is here

Prologue

An ultranationalist party takes control of Wanka and turns it into effectively a single-party dictatorship, and begins remilitarizing the country. A dormant nuclear weapons program is reawakened and rapid progress is made, which significantly worries Sylva, Wankas traditional enemy. Showing no response to the economic sanctions placed Wanka, Sylva bombards Wankan production facilities. A perfect casus belli for the Wankers to launch a long-prepared invasion of Sylva in hope of achieving their dream of a unified pan-Casaterran German-speaking empire.

Maps

Will be posted here and on the IC once we figure out the main battlefield(s). I’ll be doing them on Google MyMaps, where you guys will hopefully be able to edit it too. We will be using this map (has better resolution than the one on the region page, and is more or less the same) for a general overview of our world.

Map (updated 21/7/15):
Image
  • "Hartek Abwehranlage" in the bottom left corner is the nuclear weapons complex, which is conveniently situated in the Allgäu mountains.
  • Map's messy, I know, unfortunately nothing I can do about. On MyMaps you can zoom in and it becomes much clearer, however.
  • Unit icons uploaded, please check the map as to how they will be labeled (better suggestions welcome). Please tell me if there is any unit type that you wish to be added

Muro, considering that Free The Brother started and ended in March (?) perhaps the first few posts are actually in the past - a sort of buildup to the Sylvan strike, which happens in present day (Late July/Early August 2015) that way we can justify you actually developing the nuclear program for some time and the SL's sanctions to take effect (it's unlikely they would abandon them after just a week or so).

Yeah, we did have a nuclear weapons program in the past- but that was put to rest after some smart people convinced Meinhof to do so. The new government (which won't be as radical as, you know, him) will just resurrect it and won't hide that. This will happen around end of March or so.

It would be downright silly to launch an invasion of a nation as powerful as Sylva right off the bat, especially if Sonneborn, the Führer, hasn't got much control in his own government yet.

Would it be okay to push the bombing and invasion date to something like March/April 2016? I recall that there are some mountains standing in our way, don't fancy fighting it out on the snow (although it would be pretty fun to write about).

I'm good with that. And with the snow, I agree - what I'm thinking is that your invasion plan (not the invasion itself) catches me off guard. Perhaps you sneak some of those RAPES through the mountains and cause havoc or something, while your main force captures some vital valley pass and initially routs the Sylvan military (because of the incompetent leadership of a certain Prince Santiago)

So I'm going to say that the Sylvan people wouldn't allow OS (or any other country) to station troops inside Sylva. So when the war starts, OS will have to transport his forces across the Strachan to reach me - id say that gives you about a week and a half before OS tanks and marines start flooding into Sylva. That gives you a lot of time to destroy me before I'm saved :P

Keep in mind Facism has always hidden under the facade of Socilaism. NAZI (IRL) is National German Social Workers Party (I may have the order of the words wrong, but yeah)

What's your system of government? I didn't quite catch that, my bad xD
But he's not fascist and definitely not totalitarian. Well, I won't phrase it as fascist or extremist- hell, we'll still call our system a democracy. I'm sure Erquin can put aside such petty differences? :D

Sounds good, we'll see how it plays out. Since Sylva will be the main battlefield, we can work on the map. I was thinking of Google MyMaps, where we can all edit it together. It would look like this. One interesting thing is that you can actually measure distances and areas, a feature which would be pretty interesting and convenient to use. Do you want to start on it or should I?

I mean I guess that could work...I'm just worried about my capability of editing it (I'm restricted to phone use for now)

However, by the time the fighting starts I should have computer access...I hope.

I'll create the basic shape and do what I can according to what you posted on iiwiki, and then you can edit and move stuff around later on. Sounds ok?

It's accurate save that Cascadia is a province. Cascadia is an independent country, lol. So I'm going to replace Cascadia with...oh, I don't know, Marceonia.(Marse-onia)

Correction - communists don't like Facists. Did you read my last post? Socialism is Facism and vice versa. Look up what Nazi stands for.

Muro, what if you reverse engineered a nuke?

Say a Sylvan B2 bomber carrying nukes went down over the Crimson Sea. Wankan naval ships and Sylvan naval ships scramble to recover its nuclear payload. Sylva gets some of them, but Wanka recovers two, and begins reverse engineering one of the bombs...while keeping the other in storage...

Great idea- would reverse engineering be faster and more efficient than developing and building it myself? Anyhow, it would be a great start to diplomatic squabble as the Sylvans start to freak out. I think this should take place maybe in June, after the *cough*Patriotic Socialists*cough* take power.

Working on the OP now. It'll sound disturbingly similar to 1933, I'm afraid.

Well, this seems fun. Not sure what I can do to be involved, or really if I even should be, but it looks like a fairly cool idea.

Actually, you can. Though you would probably be RPing as one of the NPCs, Saxony. Murovanka could pull a Schifllen Plan and invade Sylva via Saxony - thus giving you involvement. Since Casacdia isn't that big of a nation, it makes sense to give you control of both.
