August 4, 1914, Schwarz Desert, Archadian East Asianna, 750 miles from the Milites Border; Neutral Grounds, 350 Miles from the Quen Minh Border.

The aged Emperor, The great Salismador Solidor had a speech infront of his troops. Along with him were 3 of his generals assigned for invading Quen Minh. He had plans to invade the Commonwealth of Altissia, New Akiba and Zanarkand but he decided that the Quenminese were to be attacked first since he wanted to secure the ports for Archadian Shipping to the Imperials, especially the port of Bai Bien Ngao. He named Quen Minh as the "Bronze Nugget" while the commonwealths as "Golden Nuggets"

"As of this day, We start a new world for Archadia and Guadosalam. Me and Guado had wanted this opportunity in a long time and we are going to finally have it. We have more troops than of those Quenminese or the Commonwealth, We have more tanks and equipment. What do the allies have? None! They only have sticks and stones to fight us but we are invincible. Let us do the same as what we had done to the commonwealth in Adam's Ear, Eliminate and Colonize! We shall prepare a new world where only the Imperials, the Archadians, the Guados and the Milites live in it. To arms!"

Sugiyama had prepared 2 Corps for his offensive while being supported by the guns of the Royal Artillery Battalion from the XVIII Corps and tanks from the I Royal Armored Corps. He had established lines a few kilometers away from the Varturo Line while the artillery were placed a few kms behind. He had deployed the 5.5 inch guns prior to the 12th and wanted to save manpower and firepower as much as possible despite more reinforcements arrivng by relying on heavy artillery and bombardment.

Having amassed an army of more than 350,000 Troops, 950 Tanks and 250 Guns, It was one of the largest Archadian Invasion Forces assembled by Marshal Alberto Andacco. His aide was Guadosalam General Vittorio Bono. By 1am, He ordered a heavy barrage across the border and into the Quenminese positions and buildings and after which, he ordered a tank and infantry attack by 3am and pushed through the border.

Andacco was ruthless. He was aggressive and considered along with Graziani and Luca to be one of the best central power generals. He ordered to capture every village and town on sight. He had advanced 10 miles within the border by the afternoon. At 6pm, He received more reinforcements and decided to split and make 3 armies.

The northern force will head to Thanh Bac and take out the Zanarkian Forces there, The central force will advance through Thien Dai and deal with the Commonwealth-Quenminese Forces at Bai Bien Ngao and open the port for Archadian shipping and the southern force was to advance to Thinh Ly.

His plan was fool proof and knew that Quen Minh would fall before him in just a month after planning all of this.

Auchinleck was aware that the Archadians and the Guados had started invanding Quen Minh. Determined not to yield a single yard of dirt, He decided to take matters into his own hands. With the New Akika Force and the Altissian Force at his reserve, He decided to leave the south to Marshal Pham Hanh Chi. He sent an urgent message to the general of his age and warned him fast of the impending invasion, as well as the Emperor himself.

Be careful as Andacco fights tooth and nail. If we don't get up troops, We are doomed. Make haste!

URGENT!

His majesty, You must escape to Bai Bien Ngao as I suggest. The Archadians are inavding as we speak and they will capture Thien Dai. Please, I ask of you to order an immediate evacuation of all civilians in the city as well as in Hanoi. I am cooperating with your Marshal as of the moment and we are establishing defensive perimeters as early as possible before the Archadians could attack. The First Altissian Expeditionary Force is currently at Bai Bien Ngao and would prepare to defend the line 50 miles from it. We must make haste.

He ordered his I Zanarkian Corps to establish a defensive perimeter 50 miles away from Thanh Bac. Knowing that Thien Dai will fall at any time, He sent elements of the 5th Division of the I Corps to establish a defensive line near Thien Dai so as to delay the attack and allow more civilians to escape and by the night, The whole of them could retreat into the dark. He ordered guns from the Royal Zanarkian Artillery Regiment to deploy a few guns to shell the Archadian Positions in case they attack. Auchinleck somehow was well-prepared for the worse. He hoped that his fellow Quenminese Marshal would be the same.

Lennie, who has the message from Borealis Norsoutha, began riding towards the Commonwealth Army HQ so that he can deliver Oberst-Gruppenfuhrer Borealis Norsoutha's message to a man named Sugiyama (please TG me for his full name).

I have anticipated that this would happen, prior to the Emperor's declaration of war against the Archadians. In this case, I have already prepared my troops for an Archadian attack as well as of the other officers. Speaking of Andacco, I have heard from my couriers that he will do anything he can to subdue my countrymen, ruthless and brutally; even hearin gof his repressions on the villages near him. Reprehensible, it is. We will do whatever we can to avenge my people and my country from that Archadian scoundrel.

Receiving the message, Cam Trang ordered the evacuation of the civilians of the Imperial capital as well as of his court and himself. With haste, they packed every single belongings of theirs and within the third hour, the city was left empty. At least, it was empty. After leaving the city, Cam Trang immediately appointed another Imperial Marshal, Chung Bianh Duy, to command the 3rd Army Group in the North against the Archadians and assist the Zanarkians in forming a defense line.

5 Days later, Regis and Belgen returned to Merscher to check on what had Professor Theimer had worked on so far. They were curious on what had come out as a result of their talk and specifications that they specified. The two men were desperate for an infantry tank that could provide support to infantry advance as part of the Commonwealth Tank Doctrine. When they arrived inside, Theimer took out a blue print that was the improved version of the first infantry tank design.

"Gentlemen, I give you, The A12 Infantry Tank." He said with a proud tone. "It is armed with a Mk IX 2 pounder gun capable of penetrating 110mm of frontal armor, it can fire high explosive shells, 2x 7.92mm machine guns, it is fitted with 2x diesel 6 cylinder 7 litre engines or a 2x 95 brake horsepower engine, having a power-to-weight ratio of 6.55 horsepower per tonne, a 6 pre-speeds transmission, a coil spring suspension, a range of 300 km, It goes a speed of 30 km/h."

"Impressive. Anything more?"

"Well, We have my favorite feature of this tank, It can be armed with both a 2 pounder gun and a 3 inch or 95mm howitzer for close support and an armor thickness of 3.5 inches thick. Its much more stronger than the contemporary tanks that you two see on the Imperials or the Archadians. Its a true infantry tank."

"Can it be fitted with a flamethrower?" asked Regis.

"Of course." He said.

The A12 Infantry Tank

Having known the specifications that they wanted were met, The two finally decided.

"Well, Professor Theimer, Your A15 Cruiser Tank and this A12 Infantry Tank will be produced immediately. You can leave at once. Its a good thing that there's a ship already at a port near here."

"That would be lovely, My King."

"Also, I've thought of a nickname for the two tanks. The A15 will be given a name of Crusader and the A12 will be given a name of Matilda. Since the A15 is far easier to produce, I can assume that it will be ready by the late X841s at least before December."

"Of course. We could have produced 750 Crusaders and 350 Matildas by that time."

"Good. Now make haste and do your work. Get to the port, land on Lucis and talk your plans with my minister of defence, He is expecting you."

"I will and thank you again, Sir."

Immediately, Theimer departed on the night of the same day with all the things that he needed for the project and arrived 2 days later during when Regis and Belgen had taken the fight against Graziani.

0330 Hours, The River near Thien Dai, 7th of August.

Somewhere across the river near Thien Dai, Zanarkian and Quenminese Troops have been holding the line for hours straight and with no rest at all. By 3:30am in the middle of the night, The troops were already exhausted after repulsing 7 enemy attacks. If they could not hear another radio transmission on the signal to go back across the allied lines, they would be doomed.

A few minutes later, something went by on the radio.

"Harry Slacker, Do you read me, over?"

"Joe Slacker, reading you loud and clear, over!"

"You lads are in luck, Our boys had just evacuated the city as well as some on the other side of the river. You are now cleared to withdraw across. Auchinleck decided that Thien Dai was to be an open city to spare it from destruction. Hurry, The last truck will leave at 0430 hours. Get a move on mates. Joe Slacker Out!"

"Understood, Harry Slacker out."

The Zanarkian Corporal immediately woke up his Zanarkian and Quenminese colleagues and told of them the good news. When they learned of it, They immediately took the rafts beside them and ran as fast as they could to the river.

"Come on, mates. We better escape now or we're doomed." said the Zanarkian Captain.

When they arrived by the banks, There were still some troops that were from the same trench that were allowed to escape at the same time. Wasting no time, They got the rafts floating and they paddled away back into allied lines.

The overall withdrawal and evacuation of all allied personnel and civilians was a success. Auchinleck went to the second phase of his plan, He ordered that 25 pounder guns would be prepared and decided to defend by countering Andacco's Archadian-Guadosalam Force.

The Archadian Anthem

The Archadian Flag was raised and the anthem was played and troops sang upright.

With Thien Dai taken, Andacco immediately started his victory parade as he knows that he is winning battle after battle. Inside the city, he greeted with Quenminese Collaborators who were opposing the Emperor and would rather have someone to rule over them. Andacco established the Archadian Puppet state of Quandao with Thien Dai, now called as Santoria City as capital.

He moved to the next phase of his plan, He moved his VI Corps along with the XXV Ariete Corps against Hanoi and encircle the town while the XV Lancia Corps would keep the Allied troops away from Hanoi. He expected that the loss of Hanoi would make the Quenminese and the Commonwealth would make peace with Archadia.

The Cruiser Mk II CS

For the push to the Varturo Line, Sugiyama needed tanks that could destroy both emplacements and tanks as well as providing close support for infantry. He decided to choose the Cruiser Mk II since it could be re fitted with a 95mm Howitzer and its armor was tested and proven adequate against Archadian and Imperial Tanks. Sugiyama was the first general to make use of these tanks that were fitted with such guns. It was called as "Cruiser Mk II 95mm CS". Variants of the Cruiser Mk II started to arrive as early as the 9th of August when Sugiyama had won the battle at El Lupo. The Cruiser Mk II 95mm CS had been battle tested against both Imperial Panzers and Archadian Tanks and proved to be very effective.

9th of August, X840, 1030 Hours, 20 kms from Hanoi

A Zanarkian Mortar Team in Action

Zanarkian Troops in combat

Deciding that the Zanarkian Troops will counter the offensive instead of holding the ground, Klankain orders the Bikanel Island Regiment to deploy its guns a few miles from Hanoi in order to provide artillery support to the defenders. Klankain had also bought the existing Cruiser Mk II CS that was battle tested in Gallia-Bruhl. It was found to be effective in Jungle Warfare and persuaded Auchinleck to withdraw the 2 pounder armed Cruiser Mk IIs and replace them with the CS version of it.

Auchinleck's tactic proved very well as his Cruiser Mk II CS's had enough fire power to deliver several enemy charges during the day. Even more, The Cruiser Mk II CS proved to be superior than the Archadian M11/39s or the M13/40s in firepower and protection, having wielded armor instead of riveted.

Archadian Troops at the Varturo Line

13th of August, X840, Varturo Line, 9am

Luca held his line firm and was determined not to yield a single yard of sand. However, Luca was confident and told to himself that Sugiyama should have just surrendered as the Varturo Line was impassable and no one could ever breakthrough it as evidenced by Allied Attacks prior to his defeat at El Lupo. He decided to exhaust the Commonwealth's strength at the line itself as every attack that the Commonwealth threw would then be repulsed and the commonwealth would be deprived of manpower and fire power before Luca could take the offensive once again.

10th of August, X840, Santoria, Quandao

Andacco didn't yield. He decided to throw more troops against the Commonwealth when in fact that he had more arms, firepower and manpower than the Commonwealth and Quenminese combined. When he had left the south to Vincenzo, He focused on taking the city around Thanh Bac to secure a flank for his offensive at Hanoi and Bai Bien Ngao. He moved 1/2 of his Blackshirt Corps supported by elements of the XV Corazzato Corps and threw a massive tank attack at three flanks in the morning of the 10th.

He had heard that fellow general, Guglielmo Luca had just lost a battle at Africanna and was determined not to suffer the same fate.

At all three flanks, He also threw artillery barrages to support his attack and moved with fast speed.

The attack at Thanh Bac on the 10th by 12nn had stunned Auchinleck. He knew that Andacco fights tooth and nail. Despite Thanh Bac being cut off from the rest of the Commonwealth-Quenminese Force at Hanoi, Auchinleck decided to put his new tank, the Cruiser Mk II CS to the test. At Thanh Bac, He had 120 of the CS's variants, 175 of the 2 pounders and 95 A13 Cruiser Mk IV's. With the Archadians and their Guado allies being held at the defensive line near Hanoi, He moved elements from the XXII Corps to relieve Thanh Bac with support from the 2nd New Akiba Expeditionary Force Force. The First Altissian Expeditionary force however, would continue to hold at the defensive line a few miles from Bai Bien Ngao.

Northern Outskirts of Thien Dai, 10 August 1914

Pham Hanh Chi stared at the landscape with eyes, stoic as it is. It looked like he never felt anything, an apathetic, but in the inside was a bit of anger. He was not angry at the fact that the Archadian adversaries laid foot on the capital of his homeland, but of the fact that there were collaborators of his kind that are working with him. Why would they do such a thing, he thought, why would they betray our people like this? Just as he was wondering for the answer, a subordinate officer came up to him to inform that his army is ready for battle. He acknowledged him and looked toward the alluring landscape once more before following his officer.

He inspected the lot of them and in front of him, his eyes switching quickly towards one position towards the next. After taking this action in consideration, he prepared to make a speech.

"Gentlemen, our capital has been taken by the Archadians. Although our Emperor is safe, thank the heavens, there are others that are being repressed under the influence of the colonial master and even those that collaborated with them. This predicament is indeed a shameful one, as they have a strong will and firepower, and even a will to do anything that pleasures them. However, even though they have a superior firepower than our country's and of our Commonwealth allies, we are steadfast. Whatever they do, they can never break the spirit of our people and of our allies. So, everyone, we must do whatever we can to stand strong. We must put in every single piece of our effort in setting our country and our people free from a more robust enemy. Remember men, they will never break our proud spirits, no matter what they do."

Every soldier cheered at his words. They applauded as lous as they can, showing appreciation towards the young Marshal; even some of the young soldiers shed a single or several tears for him. The Marshal walked down towards them to shake their hands, before mobilizing to battle.

There were reports that the Archadians are being repelled in the middle of the forest fights against the Quenminese and Zanarkian Armies. At the sight of the new Commonwealth tanks (which Andacco believed), He was stunned by the strong firepower it had and knew that it could help the Allied Forces to breakthrough his line. However, He had more M11/39s and M13/40s and could use it to his advantage. He decided to pause his offensive and decided to rely on artillery attacks combined with Infantry charges on the three sectors of the Commonwealth line at Thanh Bac.

He immediately sent a message to the defenders of Thanh Bac whom he described as "Rats of the Forest"

ZUSSIES AND THE QUENMINESE!

After your disaster over the capital of Thien Dai, Commonwealth troops and Quenminese troops are now being ruthlessly sacrificed in the Quenminese Homeland and the Commonwealth lives at Africanna.
The Lorican Alliance has concluded a peace pact with the Archadian Empire and the Milites Empire. The Commonwealth will shortly be driven out of Africanna and to relieve you smashed and battered.

YOU CANNOT ESCAPE!

Our tanks and cannons of war will destroy your hopes of escaping this peninsula alive. Think of your people at home and your beloved ones. Show your white flag and you will get out of this alive.

The D1 Tanks, The newest tank made by the Guadonian Engineers

21st July, 1914. Anthold, Gallia-Bruhl

The first shipments of new tanks made from Guadosalam had arrived to replace losses during the Armato Offensive along with Maurice who had already concluded a new design for his dream tank and something that could single-handedly destroy at least 5 Commonwealth Tanks by its own. It was to be named B1 Heavy Tank while the other was the 2C Heavy which was still in development whilst the B1 was already in prototype stage and awaiting for its confirmation for production. In the meantime, Maurice had made a new tank to provide a stopgap.

To replace their aging fleet of Archadian CV33s, Simon Eriksonn Guado decided that a new tank should be made for Anselmi's Africanna Guado Army and Maurice's Army in Europa. With Maurice still continuing to working a prototype, He decided to allow a tank with armor 5 inches thicker than the Commonwealth Tanks. He named it D1 Tank. It was armed with a 47mm SA43 Gun, Had an armor of 45mm inches thick and had a crew of 3. Maurice concluded that it was the best tank of the war and had a speed of 24 km/h.

13th of August, 1914, Arithea, Guadosalam Territory, Africanna.

The Guadosalam Commander, Umberto Nunzio Anselmi had heard of the newest Guado tank made by Maurice and wanted it urgently. He had placed an order of 350 of these tanks from the 21st of July. It had arrived in the crack of dawn on the 13th and was ready by 8:30am. So far, about 179 of these tanks had been shipped to him and more were still arriving. He decided to deploy 60 of these at the Varturo Line for the defense and offensive. He decided to save the rest for the possible counteroffensive.

10:30am

The D1s were placed on the lines and upon seeing the Commonwealth Tanks, They expected that the Commonwealth would bring their basic Cruiser Tanks but to their shock, It was different and fired a different shot.

"What is that signore?!"

"I don't know Luigi, Just fire and see what happens."

The Guadosalam Tanks fired shell after shell.

"Enemy Tank, 200 yards, Fire!"

As the Guado threw their attack against the Commonwealth Forces, Luca decided to throw his tanks on the battle. Moving about 250 of his M13/40s and his M11/39s, He reinforced the Guado's Left Flank and engaged the Commonwealth Tanks head on which the Archadian Tank Crews were in for a shock. It wasn't an ordinary Commonwealth Tank. But it was a different one unlike the ones they faced at El Lupo.

When Luca had heard of this, He was shocked and commented.

"The advent of this new commonwealth tank has placed a hole in our ranks. Despite it, The Archadian Army will fight on until the very end."

Back in the battle, The Archadian Crews gave what they had to give.

"Commonwealth Tank, 150 yards, F-"

"ARGHH!"

The blast from the Commonwealth Tanks had stunned the tank crews. They didn't expect that it could fire such a round that powerful. Some of the crews abandoned their tank after a few blast that had hit the sand.

The timid soldier shook a bit, like a wave of an explosion shaking the ground violently. He clutched his rifle a bit tightly, to make himself feel more comfortable. As he got to it, another comrade of his shouted at his besieging adversaries, which can be translated to "fuck off."

John Henry Magbaredge, Second-in-command of the Commonwealth Forces in the Far East and aide to Lt. General Klankain Auchinleck

Instead of surrendering, The defenders stood their ground. The defence was 25,000 men strong compared to the Archadian-Guado Forces. The commander of the defences was John Henry Magbaredge, A 22 year old Zanarkian who had been a student of General Sir Ramsey Handel, who is currently serving in the defence of Gallia. He was supposed to return back to Auchinleck when he received the news that Thanh Bac and the coast near it had been surrounded. He decided to make his stand and take matters into his own hands.

Despite the heavy Archadian pressure of surrender, Magberedge still had communications up and running to signal Auchinleck for reinforcements and to relieve of Thanh Bac. Having troops 25,000 strong, 75 tanks and 55 Guns, He placed them to good use. He deployed the guns 3 kms from Thanh Bac and from there, He ordered to fire on the Enemy advances to Thanh Bac while the Infantry would continue to repair and reorganize the defences.

As soon as communications were ready to go, He finally signaled Auchinleck of the current situation at Thanh Bac and his need of reinforcements by the 15th of August.

The Commonwealth Tanks were stunned to see that the Guados had newer tanks, newer than theirs in fact. The Commonwealth had only modified its tanks until such a tank could take on more. Despite the Guado having newer tanks than theirs, Commonwealth Tankers continued the fight.

Sugiyama was shocked on the number of tanks that was thrown before him and even considering that the Archadians had more tanks than he had. However, It wasn't a reason for him to give up. He decided to move the A13 Cruiser Tanks of the 1st Armored Division to move around the Archadian-Guado Tanks and attempt to flank their rear to cause confusion in the middle of the battle. He ordered the 1st Armored Division to take up positions on the side since it there was a small hill near the commonwealth sector that allowed the tanks to flank Archadians then use mass speed charges to eliminate them.

The 25 pounders were ordered to fire on the masses of Archadian and Guado Tanks on the middle of the field.

"Signore, We must pull our tanks out. We cannot afford to lose more tanks."

Luca briefly thought of the situation and it would be the best to break the engagement and plan another attack on the night with the infantry. He suggested the same for his Guado ally. They would break off the attack by 12 noon and attack again by the evening at 11pm.

"Very well, Order the tanks to pull out. We need to regroup our Armored Regiments for the final attack. Order not one tank to leave out of the depot."

"Are you sure, Monsignor?"

"I am. Order the Artillery to shell the desert field to free the sand of the enemy tanks."

"Right away, Monsignor!"

The Commonwealth Soldiers were asleep in their trenches. A few however agreed to stay up and guard the night. The day had been harsh for the Commonwealth Troops after the shelling on their positions which had ceased by the afternoon. They somehow only had wounded while losing tanks to Enemy fire.

"Have a sip of tea." A soldier said.

"No thank you."

However, in the distance, The troops could see Enemy charging towards them.

"Get up! Enemy charge!"

Immediately, The lads took their rifles and their tommies and attempted to shoot back at the Archadian Troops charging against their positions. Once more, Shelling from mortar teams erupted but were somehow placed out of commission by counter batteries of 2 inch mortars. The Commonwealth troops continued to fire until not a single Archadian had been seen in the dark.

Despite the Commonwealth Troops managing to stave off the Archadian Attacks, Luca refused to call off the attacks. He was determined that the Commonwealth lines would be crushed. He then sent a portion of the Guadosalam XVI Ariete Corps with a handful of D1 Tanks to support the Infantry with support from his own M11/39s and M13/40s of his V Corps.

Combined with mortar support and fierce attacks, He expected the Commonwealth Line to falter and that he could push by the morning.

An hour had passed after the Archadian attack had begun. The Commonwealth troops faced fierce Archadian Attacks and knew that their lines were about to Falter.

"Sir, We need artillery support."

"Damn, Get through that damn radio. We need help here and our tanks are not gonna make an outcome."

In Sugiyama's quarters, He was immediately informed of the situation on the frontlines. The Archadians were in danger of breaking his line.

"Order the Royal Artillery Battalion of the XXVIII Corps to immediately fire on the Archadians advancing. Make sure those troops could be able to mark the targets for the big guns. Have spotters to the frontlines and immediately send the coordinates to the big guns."

"Yes sir!"

The order was immediately carried out and by 12:21 am, The spotters had arrived. They marked the targets which were necessary for the artillery to fire on. The troops had a hard time covering them since the spotters had to get out into the open field to throw a smoke. The Commonwealth still had their Cruiser Mk II CS's which provided excellent firepower against the Archadians.

By 12:35 am, The spotters had done their tanks and the radioman had signaled the coordinates. By 12:40 am, The guns opened fire.
