The Rekovian Lord’s Army, abbreviated RLA, is a Stasnovan Christian Orthodox Right-Wing Fundamentalist Separatist movement founded in the late 1992 by Vladislav Zakhaev in the State of Rekovia, Province of Ostokova, United Socialist States of Stasnov. The movement was especially inspired by the Bratislavian Right-Wing revolutionary Rasman Boxeshi and his ideals. With the success of the Bratislavian Revolution in 1992, a separatist sentiment begun rising among the Orthodox Stasnovan population of Rekovia a province of historical independence from the Stasnovan Empires and Kingdoms of the past. It was nothing serious at first, only a few peaceful anti-government rallies were held hear and there.

But in 1993, with the rise of extremely anti-religious Premier Viktor Karamazov to power after the 25th Party Congress, and his extremely harsh policies towards the religious institutions of Stasnov, including the Stasnovan Orthodox Church, and in 1997 the spark became a fire. After the chaos in Rekovia grew larger and larger in scale, Premier Igor Demichev came into power to replace Karamazov after the emergency 26th Party Congress in 1998. His actions didn’t only not bring the situation in Rekovia under control, but caused the rebellion to grow even larger, resulting in the creation of the autonomous Holy State of Rekovia.Seeing that Demichev’s failed policies were only leading to disaster, a group of patriotic Stasnovan officials and military leaders, headed by the then General Secretary, Dimitri Basayev, led a silent coup that overthrew Demichev and installed a government under Basayev. Basayev immedeately scap most of the policies of the previous administrations towards religions, replacing them with more neutral ones.

Meanwhile, in Rekovia, continuous clashes between separatist warlords left the region in ruins. Some of the most extremist Orthodox ones, led purges and mass murders against local non-Christian community, with the Muslim minority facing the most brutality by the RLA. A number of Stasnovan Revolutionary Army units stationed within Rekovia, defected to the side ot the RLA, as many of their commanders were local Orthodox. These units helped the warlords in their war of terror. Rekovia couldn’t be left in separatist hands, and the new Stasnovan government knew that.

During the rest of the rest of 1998 and up to August of 1999, the Stasnovan military amassed along the Stasno-Rekovian border. Vladislav Zakhaev, the leader of the RLA, managed to unify the warlords to some degree in order to face the incoming invasion, with the help of Orthodox fighters from the Sokolian Dutchy. In the evening of August 12th, Stasnovan tanks entered Rekovia.

The Rekovian War lasted until early January 2001, with an insurgency phase lasting until the 15 April 2011, when the last important Separatist leader was killed by Stasnovan special forces. Now in 2015, the Rekovian conflict is something from the past, with seemingly no significance in front of the much larger conflict raging the in the region of Atlas. Analysts have stated that the remnants of the RLA are no longer a threat to the territorial integrity of Stasnov.

But, they were proven wrong…

In a shocking address to the public today, the Chief of Staff of the Stasnovan Armed Forces, General Morozov, announced the two thirds of the city of Grazdnovo, State of Rekovia, Province of Ostokovka, have been occupied by Rekovian Lord’s Army militants. It was stated that the militants launched lighting strikes against government, police and military installations using heavy weaponry, and capturing them quickly. Military sources also state that the militants have gained access to armoured vehicles from the Karkanov Vehicle Repair Plant near the city.

It has been confirmed that the remaining military personnel that wasn’t captured or killed my the terrorists, has established an extremely fragile defensive line, trying to desperately prevent the rest of the city from falling to separatist hands. All possible was to get in and out of the city have been blocked by RLA checkpoints, that shoot at everything and everyone that doesn’t bear the RLA’s colours. A small convoy of five civilian trucks trying to flee the area into Stasnovan-controlled territory, has been shot at with large-caliber machine guns and grenade launchers. Our sources confirm that other similar incidents have been happening overnight, with civilian casualties rising.

The separatists have also captured numerous villages with the towns of Vlazdeve and Kurbagova also falling to the RLA terrorists. The fighting strength of the 38th Motor Rifle Regiment stationed in Kurbagova has been allegedly reduced to a few platoons, that have been trying to evacuate the area’s civilians.

General Morozov has stated that a mass mobilisation of all Stasnovan Military forces in the area is in effect, with the 18th Guards Motor Rifle Division reportedly moving to reinforce the remaining Stasnovan forces within the city. A large-scale air campaign is also rumoured to begin in the next days, and two Zmeya-Class Multi-role Destroyers of the 1st Fleet have also been seen sailing towards the Northern Keidlave Gulf, possibly to assist the ground forces with their land-attack missiles.

The Commissar of Foreign Affairs has also made a public statement today, pleading for international assistance: “Today something very dreadful happened in the westernmost part of our country. The fundamentalist Orthodox terrorists, of the so-called Rekovian Lord’s Army, have seized most of the city of Grazdnovo, slaughtering civilians, soldiers, and policemen alike in the process. Our brave comrades in the Armed Forces will not be intimidated by those petty terrorists. The Stasnovan response will be swift and brutal! Nevertheless, we realise the our country is in a dire position right now, thus, I humbly request the assistance of the international community, our allies, so we can face the threat of religious fundamentalism within our borders.”

Undisclosed location, Valaran Empire.
4th March, 0630

The convoy glided along the ground. The bulky silhouettes of vehicles emitted soft growls as the rolled up to the compound. Above them were two military helicopters, their bulky forms hanging impossibly in the dark sky.

Security personnel were everywhere. The swarmed at the cracks, at every floodlight so the weapons they held could be seen. The floodlights were the main forms of illumination, guiding the convoy in. In the distance could be seen various of lights, twinkling faintly. But the peace of ordinary life had no place here, and they were confined to the remote horizon, their haven detached from the grim surroundings the cars now found themselves in. The darkness was apt, it fitted their purpose, enveloping them with its cool, cloaking presence.

The convoy halted smoothly. The engines kept growling. Shrouded by darkness and the agents, several figures disembarked in quiet order. The tension was of a hushed kind, but it pervaded the scene, mounting steadily as the figures entered the complex before them. There was a rushed pace to these men and women, a sense of frantic urgency barely controlled under the calm demeanour. Agents swarmed around, but even the darkness could not hide the taught strain of these people. No one could deny something was wrong.

The figures were lead directly to the a single room, obscured by the swarms of faceless security around them.Their destination was illuminated by the harsh glare of electric lighting and banks of screens. It was a pressurised environment, immured within the impenetrable structure above. Enclosed by darkness, this was where the ranking military strategists gathered, leading generals of VRF, Legates of the newly reformed Legions, Admirals, heads of cyber operations and aerial commanders. In amongst them were the heads of intelligence agencies, foreign office officials, and a small number of selected government ministers. The accumulated military authoirty of an Empire gathered in the room as the figure entered, his entourage filing behind. They all looked up at him, curious with apprehension. No one stood.

Prime Minister Hesseren stopped in front of the military council. The shadows fell from face, exposing the line of his jaw as he appraised the military council with a determined gaze.

"Now, tell me about Rekovia."

20 KM South-west of Grazdnovo, Stansov.
4th March, 0930

Feren peered through the field binoculars at the village. Even from this distance, the celebratory gunfire could be heard. Winter was finally breaking, but the land was still cold and hard. The mountain pines protected them from the worst ravages of the wind, but he still felt the chill seeping into his rough camouflage. At least there's no rain. Or snow. It was the small mercies that counted.

The rebel convoy wound its way up the mountain track to the village, its stone houses perched on the slope overhanging the drop to the valley below. These passes were strategically important; anyone who controlled them dictated the flow of people and produce all the way Grazdnovo, the regional capital. Any commander with a shred of initiative and military nous would have moved to control the heights surrounding them, but Hans suspected the rebels were currently more interested in celebrating with the local supporters. Shouts echoed across the mountainside.

Feren was nestled on the opposing slope, looking across the valley to the village. He wasn't the most well concealed, having only arrived not long before the rebels, but no one would really spot him unless they were looking. On hearing of the rebel breakthroughs, they'd had only been diverted from their usual intelligence duties and sent to monitor the situation. The Valaran intelligence agencies liked to keep tabs on every development with a human perspective as much as satellites (ostensibly in order to not lose focus), but Feren knew the real reason why they were; to lay the groundwork for an Imperial response. He shifted and turned back at his partner Hans. He spoke without looking.

"They've taken the place then?"

"Yeah."

"Did you mark what vehicles they're using?"

"Five BMP-1s, two BMP-3s, a single BKT-25 Bandit, 6 BKT-25 Bandits, one BTR-70, three Kamaz truckloads of soldiers, along with various UAZ-469s and Ural-375s, three of which were armed with with BM-21 Grad rocket launchers. In total some 200 armed revolutionaries and 30 armoured vehicles." Feren rattled them off without pause so Hans could relay them back to their superiors. "You know, I wasn't birdwatching this whole time."

"Its hard to tell with all that crap you call camouflage all over your face." the retort flew back. "Who's knows what you've been doing to get that all over yourself"

Feren grunted in response. He looked back through the binoculars. The rebels had complete control of the village now, and appeared to be in a triumphant mood. Because if capturing a defenceless village filled with your own was supporters was anything, it was a triumph. The rebels soldiers appeared to congregate around the church, its small bulbous dome a major landmark for the knotted mass of armed men and the larger shapes of light vehicles. Orthodox crosses were hung out in their wake, while other symbols of the RLA and Rekovia were laid out in front of the victorious revolutionaries.

Sharp cracks detracted from the jovial scene. Feren shifted his binoculars to the steps of the church where a pistol was levelled to various figures thrown there. He grimaced as the various Stasnovan officials and other 'traitors to the Rekovician causes' were disposed of. Even for a spy, the casual coldness of the executions was more chilling that the frost. There never was such a thing as a bloodless revolution.

Osterian Palace, Valaran Empire.
4th March, 1130

"I assume you've decided military action then." Light streamed into the waiting room as Osteric looked at his guest. Lavish was the only word that one could use to describe the palace. The baroque architecture, the air of polite opulence, the shades of green and beige. The surroundings blazed Osteric wherever one looked. Prime Minister Willaim Hesseren tried to ignore them. He kept his gaze firmly focused on his host and rival. Osteric in turn ignored him, turning instead to a servant pouring tea. The bastard played this game well.

"The details of the meeting have not yet been disclosed. I cannot say what we have decided." Hesseren's tone was as neutral as he could bear.

Osteric laughed, the sound chiming softly. "Don't be ridiculous. You wouldn't be here unless you decided military action. Why come to my palace if you went the peaceful road."

"I would like to ask for you, as leader of the opposition for your support in the Parliamentary vote, should my administration call for one."

"But why would I support action against a group of soldiers seeking freedom from Socialist Oppression?" His smile was predatory.

"Because I'm asking you to." Hesseren dropped the pretence of formality; Osteric was just twisting the knife further. "And because these rebels are ultra-nationalistic religious fundamentalists threatening one of our allies through violent means. And yes they are also your allies; we both serve the same nation."

"I wasn't aware we had the same ideals now. I believe I can serve my nation differently to you."

"I wouldn't be here if I didn't think this was important." Hesseren ignored the openings. He wasn't here to get angry.

"That's wrong." Osteric replied as if he was correcting the Prime Minister on a point of language. "You're only here as you have no other choice. There's no one else you can ask. The Liberals have fragmented and half have come to me. Alstan is only a partial player, Eric is too new and Aubrey too weak." I have the support of the nobility, Parliament and the electorate did not give you mandate. You need my votes." Hesseren gritted his teeth. Osteric was right; there was no point pretending otherwise. The Lord went on. You can't not hold a vote either; it would be even more obvious that you couldn't face me. Face it Hesseren, you haven't got the political capital to spend. You're cornered."

"Name your terms."

Osteric didn't hesitate to reel off a mental list. "New military purchases for the legions, possibly Insaledorian small arms, full privatisation of the rail network, a cut in green subsidies, closer ties with SACTO, an extension of our territorial waters and fishing rights, and a focus on oil imports. Naturally these are negotiable." His smile revealed teeth.

It was surprisingly less than anticipated. Hesseren's suspicion sharpened. Osteric knew he was coming, and would have prepared. He was missing something. But there was no time to think. The aristocrat sipped his tea in an apparent gesture of relaxation, but his eyes held no shred of frivolity as they peered at Hesseren. They were ruthless, waiting for him to make a decision. Hesseren gripped his own cup tighter. The silence stretched out, a stream of rarefied tension. "Done."

Stasnovan Border, Valaran Empire.
4th March, 13:00

"Orders have come through."

General Malian snapped her round and strode her officer. "What do they want us to do?" She had no patience for formality.

The man looked up at his General "Mobilise."

The Valaran Empire had two legions on the Stasnovan border. These began to be reinforced by the 4th and 7th armies of the VRF, some six divisions in total, along with full complements of supplementary forces. Two airwings were also moved, along with 10 V22s, 30 HF-83C Hyrdas, 25 C130s, 5 C17s and 5 75 C-72B (attack variant) as an improvised transport wing. Meanwhile the second fleet prepared to leave its docking at Lauran for the journey west, and the VRF marines began to embark.

It was an unprecedented buildup. The land border was gradually covered with troops emplacements, while the roads were clogged with advancing convoys. In some cases, the sheer weight of LY4A1 'Wolfhound' MBTs of the legions proved too heavy to go on certain bridges, and their tracks chewed up several pathways. Military bases suddenly sprawl to swallow surrounding areas, the existing structures unable to cope with the surges in troops. Civilian flights were grounded in the late afternoon as the skies became the airforce's domain, the setting sun's glow illuminating the scores of contrails. The VRF took longer arrive, having to travel from further away, and only the forward elements had even left their bases by the time night fell. Even so the legions already constituted a vast force, one that massed at the edge of the Empire.

The sounds of military artifice rang out as the darkness returned.

ALOSTEKO TO HELP STASNOV GOVERNMENT IN CIVIL CONFLICT, PARLIAMENT SAYS

Earlier today, the Alosteka nation was informed of the rise of a rebellious group within the allied nation of Stasnov. The rebel group, known as the Rekovian Lord's Army (RLA), was previously thought to be left powerless by the Stasnovan success in the Rekovian War. The original conflict lasted between 1997 and 2001, resulting in the ruin of Rekovia and the RLA. Recently, anti-Stasnovan sentiment has been growing in Rekovia, leading to the second rise of the RLA.

The RLA is a far-right fundamentalist Christian terrorist group that formed in 1992 after harsh policies were enacted upon the Orthodox Church by the Stasnovan government. Originally, the group was peaceful, only holding peaceful protests. It was partly inspired by the Bratislav reactionary Rasman Boxeshi, and with his success came a spike in separatist sentiments within Rekovia. The RLA was founded by Vladistav Zakhaev, a prominent reactionary within the USSS.

In response to the recent rise in the popularity of the RLA, Prime Minister Ketkanev Durvokul of the Democratic Socialist party announced a declaration of war on the RLA. Part of the speech has been transcribed and translated below:

"Fellow comrades, I bring grave news today. The Rekovian Lord's Army, an extremist reactionary group within our ally state of Stasnov, has once again risen to power. In the past, they have committed genocide and war crimes, and have attempted to break away from the United Socialist States of Stasnov. These violations of international law have led me and the Parliament to reluctantly declare war on the RLA. The Ministry of Defence has also classified the group as a terrorist organisation, and all members of this organisation are banned from the USSA."

Throughout the speech, it was unclear as to whether Alosteko will be sending economic or military aid. When inquired over this, the Ministry of Defence refused to disclose any information concerning the methods that would be used to aid the Stasnovan government.

Ministry of Defence, Tervaazho, Federal District

"Do we have any new intel from the Stasnovan government concerning the rebels, yet?", Supreme Commander Yelev Derokol asked a room full of intelligence officers.

"No madam, not yet", replied one of the officers. "Though we should be getting new information any time now."

"Alright", said the SC. This was the second time she asked them, and was beginning to get frustrated. Are these people ever going to send us anything?, Derokul thought. I really need that info so I can start ordering deployments. She left the room, not entirely sure of where she was going to go. Derokul decided to call up her wife, Lanayev, to pass the time. No answer. She tried again. Still no answer. Even more frustrated, Derokul decided to go to the lounge in an attempt to relax. She made herself some tea and sat down in one of the armchairs in each corner of the room. Just as Derokul was about to take a sip of her tea, her phone rang. Maybe it's Lanayev, she thought. When the Supreme Commander answered the phone, she was greeted not by her wife but by a close friend of hers.

"Yanev, come to the Kusuvul Hospital quick! I'll tell you when you get here", he said.

"Okay, okay, I'll get there as soon as possible", she said. Nothing's happening here anyway, she thought. I probably won't be gone that long.

She gathered her things and proceeded to leave the building. Just as she left, an alarm went off in the surveillance room. "Senev, there's an intruder on the building's grounds! Alert the security forces!", yelled the head of the surveillance team.

"Got it", Senev replied. He picked up his phone, but he didn't call security. "You've been discovered", he said to the intruder. "Sir, I've alerted the security", he said to the head as he pulled out his gun.

"Excellent work", he replied without a glance in Selev's direction. Those were the last words he spoke.

Course and Current Position

As the icy spray of the large waves pummeled against the sail, 3 men stood watch as the Captain made slight adjustments to the Course. Unlike other Nuclear-Submarines, the Ranger-class had two navigation stations, one in the Hull and one in the Sail, which eased the burden on the officers below deck. The men on deck kept a clear eye out, or as clear as they could, looking out for aircraft and shipping that could pose a threat to the new submarine. Frank placed his binoculars over his eyes, blocking the spray from hitting his face with adequate success. He and other two seamen were up on the sail as the Captain took to assessing the Sub. Their mission was to hunt Stasnovan shipping, an apparent attempt at Retribution by the new dictator for the Stasnovan involvement in Cydonia. The crew of the Savior knew better, of course, and that their mission was to actually plant sensors and devises in order to monitor Stasnovan shipping. That isn't to say that they haven't been authorized to destroy any ship in their path, but the Kaleun (Captain) knew better to hold his trigger finger.

He looked high into the air, the spray hitting the sail grew stronger as the gale picked up. Only his harness kept him on the top, and he looked back, saw the closed hatch, was just waiting for the moment that someone would come up to relive them. But the moment didn't come, and the wet coldness penetrated their waterproof parkas. The men huddled together, back to back, while on the lookout. Suddenly, the hatch opened, and the man was met with a shower of freezing water and ice. He shrieked for a moment, then recomposed himself and told them to go under. We are about to dive, were his exact words. The floor was wet, a seaman mopping it up. The Kaleun was monitoring the controls of the ship in the sail, windows opening up the usual darkness of the boat with the darkness of the outside world. The Kaleun was a rather stocky man, had a well trimmed face, and was a man who valued his men. His name was Ricky Francis, "Mad Frank" as his men called him, though teasingly. He turned around, towards Frank, held out a hand.

"Had fun above decks, Frank?"
"I would've, Herr Kaleun. If you hadn't brought me up there with a pair of underwear to be called 'waterproof clothing'."

Rick could only laugh as he looked back towards the man at the helm of the boat. The boat slowly went under, and almost as if it were orchestrated, the windows were covered over with thick sheets of metal on both sides; it would be a very fragile spot in the case of an attack. They climbed down another ladder, out of the sail and into the actual hull of the vessel. The XO, Rodney, was on his usual perch at the side of the room. He kept an eye out while the Kaleun was elsewhere, effectively Rodney was the second in command. They briefly saluted, whatever they could muster, and the bell for the first mess shift rag aloud in their ears, a welcomed commotion any time of the day. The small hallways were made smaller by the food and necessities hanging from the ceiling. The boat was small, and any space that could be used was to be used for storage. The mess was clean, painted in bright and vibrant colours. Meals in the navy were a major morale booster, and to celebrate this boat's maiden voyage, a wide variety of foods and exotic dishes were placed before them, all they had to do was choose.

"Food fit for a Tsar, your cooks really outdid themselves," Rodney announced.
"Well they cook better than you do, to say the least. I wouldn't touch what you cooked with a pole." Rick retorted.

They were all family, cogs in the machine as Frank would say. They sat and ate with the common folk, the engineers, the electricians, the torpedomen. They were an inclusive family, and no matter what happened at home, they would still be one. Digging into their meals, Frank stood up, glass of Vodka in hand. He scanned the room, saw men reading Viridisian newspapers, a crime punishable by a long prison sentence back home, a sentence which will never be practiced aboard the Savior. Every man is entitled to his own beliefs.

"In the name of her Majesty and the oh-so-very illustrious 'Leader' of the Sasutarians, I propose a toast to our captain and our caterers. They work their asses off, and bastards like them deserve better than to slave aboard a dingy little boat like this, am I right, Captain?"

The sense of Sarcasm in Frank's voice was unwavering, and so was the response. The captain, however, stood up and knocked the glass out of Frank's hand. His etched frown could not last, however, and he held up his own glass.

"Its bad to get drunk on deck watch, you know." he remarked as he took a sip of his own.

The crew could only laugh, and as the boat leveled out at 40 metres, they began the mandatory 'Sailor's Circus', a Naval tradition in the Sasutarian navy since the Seventeen-hundreds. The crew celebrated and feasted, the atmosphere was ripe with anti-regime rhetoric and alcohol, lots of alcohol. Of course the crew knew that there was the one man who bore no face of happiness or joy, that one man sent by the Leader to observe his 'rowdy' Submarine captains and report back. That man was among them, carefully taking notes of who displayed any sort of anti-regime sentiments.

GK To Remain Militarily Defensive in Stasnov Situation
State Will Do "It's Best" To Prevent More Hayabusans From Joining RLA

Image
The Royal Knights of Hayabusa conducting defensive combat drills inside the grounds of Fort New Teverlyn, a Hayabusan base in eastern Valaran

Today at 4 PM, Lord Prime Minister Milo Lepel and the Lord's Parliament came to the decision to stay militarily neutral, after first consulting with the King and the royal family as a whole. It was viewed as controversial by an estimated 30 percent of Hayabusans who wanted to see a Hayabusan intervention in Stasnov to help the RLA, our "Christian Brothers in Arms". However, the majority of Hayabusans agreed with the Lord's Parliament in the fact that they wanted to abstain from the conflict as an aggressive, offensive power as the nation has done in many recent, more important conflict. Rather, the majority agreed with many of the Lord Prime Minister's statements regarding Hayabusan "defensive neutrality" in the conflict. LPM Lepel said that the Great Kingdom, as a state, would not be provoking anything and would not be acting offensively, but instead would protect it's allies in Valaran because the two nations are so close to the zone of conflict. Should the Rekovian Lord's Army or the Stasnovan Revolutionary Army threaten the territorial integrity of any of the two nations, the LPM said that "the Royal Knights will be there to help exterminate the problem with force".

The Lord's Parliament also addressed the issue in regards to Hayabusan men, women, and children traveling to Stasnov to go fight for the Rekovian Lord's Army, and as they see it, fighting for the Christian religion as a whole. The threat of Hayabusans flying to Stasnov to fight is indeed a huge one, as the Great Kingdom is a Catholic state and Hayabusan relations with the Stasnovan government haven't exactly been perfectly the last few years. Many governmental figures fear that the Stasnovan government will assume and accuse the Hayabusan state to be actively and secretly training Hayabusan civilians to go fight in the RLA. It is known that there are some ex-Knights fighting for Catholicism in the RLA, but thorough investigation from anti-terrorist and government inquiring groups have yet to bring up any evidence that ordinary civilians are being brought to Teverlyn and trained before fighting. It is estimated that there are already 650 Hayabusan RLA fighters in Stasnov, but the government has enacted movements to beef up airport security, port security, and has brought up extra means of background checks and personal searches to be done when a Hayabusan citizen wants to leave to go to Stasnov by means of public OR private transportation. Hopefully, the extra security measures will prove to be effective in preventing more Hayabusans from committing acts of terrorism or revolution in Stasnov.

With that, the 50,000 Royal Knights at the Fort New Teverlyn (a joint Hayabusan and Estenian military base in Central Valaran, named after the City of Teverlyn in Hayabusa, first established when Hayabusa and Valaran as a sign of friendship between the countries' royals) have begun training for defensive warfare on a mass scale, including the use of live fire exercises, rubber bullet building-to-building combat simulations, and long-range artillery ranging and aiming practice.

"The explosions and rattles could be heard from kilometers away in my city," said a Valaran woman who agreed to speak with an HBC reporter, "the light from the direction of New Teverlyn was at times, just as bright as the light that emitted from the skyscrapers of the metropolitan area of Tialan. I surely hope that no threatens Valaran or any Hayabusan ally around here, for their own sake!"

It is said by the Base Commander (Sherman Willoughby) that the Royal Knights are now getting used to their new squad machine gun, the FN MAG H2, the newly released Hayabusan variant of the original FN MAG. The FN MAG H2 is the replacement for the foreign made MG3, which was now slightly outdated and had some problems with control in long bursts of fire.

"The FN MAG H2 is an otherwordly weapon," says Squad Machine Gunner LCpl Bob Arlen, "it is terribly powerful, easily controllable, and light enough for me to carry and not have severe shoulder fatigue, as I had when I used the MG3. Although the MG3 was an amazing weapon indeed, the H2, in my opinion, is better. It fires at a slower rate, which makes it a lot easier for me to aim more accurately at my target. The only problem I see with it as of now is the process of changing an overheated barrel, which was a breeze with the MG3. With the H2, you must unclip it in 4 different areas and then use a handle of sorts to remove it, and then to insert the next you must take off the barrel cover and reclip it in to it's position in the 4 areas again. It took me a minute, where as the MG3 took me about 10 seconds. That is the only weakness I have observed with it. Otherwise, I'd run the hell away if I had this monster popping shots at me."

Crimson Snow (Atlas-ONLY/MT)

Postby Stasnov » Thu Mar 05, 2015 2:00 pm

State of Rekovia, Province of Ostokova, Stasnov
Highway 80, 41 kilometres east of Grazdnovo
1623 hours

"WHERE THE HELL IS ROMANOV?" Colonel Kirilenko growled on the radio. He was the commanding officer of the 51st Motor Rifle Regiment, and was reffering to the commander of his Regiment's tank Battalion. Kirilenko in his BKT-25K, a command version of the BKT-25M1, that was reversing along the highway, trying to flee from the endless waves of advancing RLA militants less than two kilometres away. The bloody bastards were just too many. Next to him, more armored and unarmored vehicles were trying to get away, with many soldiers retreating on foot. Right behind them, a massive convoy of civillian vehicles, trying to flee from the separatist onslaught. The convoy was too large and slow to move and flee fast enough, so many of the vehicles were sitting burnt or hit by mortar shells, many blocking parts of the highway, dooming those behind them. The 51st's mission was to escort the convoy into friendly territory via a bridge 8 kilometres from their current position. They were also ordered to destroy the bridge when the last civillian vehicle had crossed it.

"How the hell should i know?" a voice crackled through the radio. Tracer fire started flying at every direction, and mortar shells begun landing on the highway. They desperately needed Lieutenant Colonel Romanov's tanks to slow down the RLA forward units pursuing them and the civillians. Kirilenko cursed and switched to thermal mode on his sights. He spotted an enemy BMP-1 coming out of the treeline on a field next to them, about 310 metres away. The separatist IFV fired its cannon. The high-explosive shell landed right in between two civillian trucks, making the one burst into flames and the other to roll over on its side and out of the highway. A squad of Stasnovan soldiers rushed towards the second truck the rescue any civillians that might had survived, but the first two soldiers fell victim the the BMP-1s cannon, as another HE shell landed metres next to them, ripping their bodies apart with shrapne.

"GUNNER, ENEMY IFV, BEARING 231. AP ROUNDS! BURN THE BASTARD!" yelled Kirilenko. The BKT-25s turret rotated on the right position, and the 30 mm autocannon roared as it shot burst after burst of armor-piercing 30 mm rounds at the separatist IFV. Some seconds later, the BMP-1 was sitting idle on the grass, engulfed in flames. More mortar shells landed nearby as more Rekovians started showing up from the treeline, and the highway itself. They were driving up with BMPs, BTRs and even with improvised armored trucks, dismounting and engaging the SRA units on the highway, with many targeting civillians.

As all the Stasnovan vehicles were reversing to escape getting overwhelmed, the civillian convoy, not more than 100 metres behind them, started moving slightly faster at last. They were approaching a crossroad, from were Romanov's Battalion was supposed to come from. Two Mi-24PN appeared coming in from the west, popping flares as they entered the fray of battle. They started launching their 9M114M ATGMs at enemy vehicles and they also commenced strafing runs with their S-8 rockets and autocannons. That bough some time for the armored vehicles of the 51st to establish a firing line. But that small sign of hope did not last long. One of the Hinds was hit by a MANPAD and crashed on the field, and the other was forced to return to base after being heavily damaged by a SPAAG, probably a Shilka. But the bridge was now finally visible.

Finally some tanks showed up on the crossroad. 19 PRB-74M2s and PRB-74M3s, all of them with some of their ERA plates blown off, and with some other signs of an engagement. The tank leading the column was a PRB-74M3K, a commander's version of the PRB-74M3. The PRB-74M3K stopped by Kirilenko's BKT-25K, and Romanov popped up from its hatch, while Kirilenko followed his example.

"Were the fuck is the rest of your Battalion?" Kirilenko yelled as he lowered his head.

"We are it" Romanov "We drove right into a fucking Rekovian ambush site. The bloody bastards were just too many. Even the APSs couldn't handle the volume of AT fire. We are all that's left"

"God damnit!" Kirilenko growled and slammed his fist on the Bandits turret "Alright. I want what remains of your Battalion to go forward and buy us some time to evacuate the civvies"

"Understood" said Romanov and closed the hatch, with Kirilenko doing the same on his vehicle.

Romanov's tanks rolled forwards towards the front, and the rest of the 51st's vehicle started reversing again and the civilian convoy sped up as well. The tanks opened fire with their 125 mm smoothbore guns, spitting enormouns amounts of firepower at the RLA vehicles unfortunate enough to be in front of them. The 51st's remaining vehicles were now finally crossing the bridge, and Kirilenko could see some units of the 20th Separate Engineering Regiment waitting for them on the other side. They already had the bridge rigged with explosives. Kirilenko turned his periscopic sight around to observe Romanov's tanks. They were getting overwhelmed. Only 10 were still operational. Some smoke shells shells were fired from friendly artillery behind the 51st, to cover their retreat. Kirilenko lost all visual contact.

Minutes later of what seemed like a century to Kirilenko, the convoy was almost on the other side, as well as most of the 51st's remaining vehicles. Kirilenko's BKT-25 pulled over next to a small command post and he got out. He ran up to the man that looked like the commander, who was pushing some buttons on a console. The man stood at attention and saluted when he saw him approaching.

"Lt. Colonel Yuri Kabayev, 2nd Batt-"

"What are you doing here Lt. Colonel?" Kirilenko interupted him

"We're preparing to demolish the bridge comrade Colonel" he replied

"What? I have men on the other side! It's my tank Battalion."

"I'm sorry comrade, but we have orders from the Commissariat.

"The Commissariat? The KVR?"

"Yes sir. Commissar Lebedev ordered that we demolish the bridge as soon as the last civilian vehicle is on our side. We can't allow the enemy to use it."

"But, i still have-"

"I'm sorry comrade Colonel, but i can't disobey the Commissar's orders"

Kirilenko stood there for a moment. He had just come out of the battle, adrenaline pumping through his veins. He tried to calm down. He coulnd't go against the orders of a Commissar. "I understand" he said. Kabayev nodded.

Kirilenko started walking away slowly. He stopped next to his BKT-25K, as he gazed up the large caravan of civilian cars, trucks and other kinds of vehicles driving on the road next to him. He collapsed, resting his back on the side his vehicle. He was tired and frustrated. The battle was still raging on the other side of the bridge, the sounds of gunfire and explosions still dominated the area. Suddenly, a huge explosion rocked the ground. The bridge was demolished as all civillian vehicles had crossed to the other side. Kirilenko

The Stasnovan Armed Forces had managed to rescue a large number of civillians this day, but at what cost?

The bloody bastards were just too many...

Chancellor Ishdu'yeet Announces Support in the Stasnovan Government

Da'klawedian Troops to be Dispatched to Western Stasnov

Adam Korrhoken (
@adam-korrhoken-kbc)
12/13/14 | Tlaxane'iis, Da'klawedi

Chancellor Ishdu'yeet announced in a press conference this morning that the Da'klawedian Armed Forces will be seeing action in Stasnov, the immediate northern neughbour of Da'klawedi.

This comes after a separatist insurgency in western Stasnov, in which the Rekovian Lord's Army, a violent Orthodox guerrilla fighting force, took about two-thirds the city of Grazdnovo. Currently, they are on the offensive, as only a few nations are aiding the Stasnovans, as well as the sheer unexpectedness of the attack. A mass mobilisation of the Stasnovan military has begun, and will start fighting back against the Rekovians.

This comes after the First Rekovian War, an insurgency against the Holy Republic of Rekovia from 1999 to 2001. In that war, the Da'klawedian Special Forces aided the Stasnovan military with 300 operatives, using counterguerrilla tactics to defeat the Rekovians. The Sokolian Grand Duchy, a similar insurgent force from northwestern Da'klawedi, helped the Rekovians with 1,500 infantrymen and the few navy ships they had. This was a large mistake on their part; one of their premier generals, Dmitrii Vodlov, was killed by Stasnovan fighters near the end of the war.

Ishdu'yeet said that all 5 branches would aid the Stasnovans in their war. First was the Army; several tank squadrons, infantry divisions, and fighter squadrons, numbering about 3,000 troops. Then, the Navy; one aircraft carrier, a fleet of destroyers, frigates, and corvettes, and 3 of the Naval Air Force wings would be attacking the Rekovian outposts on the coasts, numbering another 2,500 troops. Then, the air force; 8 of the Air Force's wings and 4 strategic bombers would be deployed over Rekovian troops, numbering another 3,000. Next were the Special Forces; an undisclosed number would be deployed with Grazdnovo itself, in an attempt to sabotage the Rekovians. Finally were the Cyberforces, which would work on jamming the Rekovian's radios and internet, hacking into their databases, and disabling their electronically-based hardware.

Despite critics proclaiming that Ishdu'yeet is focusing too much on external affairs and not internal affairs, such as a falling stock market, heightened Sokolian independence activity, and a rising debt, many believe this is a good idea. Ishdu'yeet is expected, as always, to ignore his critics.

I think this is a good idea. If something bad happens here, the Stasnovans might want to help us more if we're helping them now.

Yuznaya, Stasnov - At Foreign Navy HQ at FNP: Domácí.

The 1st MARINE Battalion had been a new thing for Rodstov and Grenoda. After securing an allegiance with the United Socialist States of Stasov, They had allowed the creation of the 1.MB and the Foreign Navy. Since the United Armed Republic of Rostov and Grenada was landlocked they had no navy. But thanks to the alliance they had a few transport fleets and a small combat fleet that was stationed at FNP: Domácí as well as the entire 1st Marines. The marines had been created to be the tip of the AFRG's spear so lots of Rubes was thrown at the small battalion as well as fresh recruits and some veterans from the 2nd Czech Origin Rifles Division to make it into a small but effective fighting force.

Winter had come to Stasov as it normally did and the frigid temperature near the coast gave it an extra kick that was a tad colder than the normal temperature of the Mountain state that the rodstovians were from. The port was its usual busy self and troops from allied faction to Stasov carried on with the business as usual routine. PT in the morning, Lunch then weapons handling and Wargames in the afternoon. However this afternoon would be more or less like the way it was planned.

Grazdnovo in the state of Rekovia, province of Ostokova had been seized. Stasnov had already responded by sending their 38th Motor rifle Regiment however they sustained heavy casualties and had been reduced to a few platoons. Calling themselves the "RLA" they seized the town and pushed out the Stasnov troops. In doing so just became a very large blip on the 1. Marines radar.

Following the original orders they were given when taking up their post at the FNP: Domácí, they were allowed to intervene in Stasnov affairs only after they have given permission. And on the SBC News the Stasnov Foreign affairs head gave all that the 1.Marine commander needed to hear to Mobilized the Battalion to assist in Province of Ostokova.

Major Pavel Kramoliš, the overall commander of the 1st Marines picked up the phone in his office. It was a Green phone that connected from where he sat to the Stasnovan High Command.

He put the phone up to his ear and waited. As he did he ordered his second in command Captian Jana Větrovcová to rally the Battalion and have all troops do a "Stand To" and wait for further orders.

Tactical map as it stands now.

Mirevian Intelligence Agency Headquarters

Admiral Asari Raidan

It had almost seemed like the city lights were illuminating very brightly in a cold snow that had only fell hours earlier. He had left his men docked in Norsbol Port under the command of his XO,Summers Presley, although he knew that being requested by the Intelligence Department was of the utmost urgency.

The MIA Headquarters was getting closer as more snow fell on as he was driving. He had parked his vehicle on the second story of a parking garage that was only two blocks from the offices, and decided to walk the rest of the way.

"God damn,it's cold." Asari thought to himself as he made the trek to the front doors of the office. As Asari looked around, two heavily-armed Security Guards had been on guard outside, one of which noticed Asari walking towards the door.

"Sir,Halt where you are standing." The security officer had called out. Asari looked at him as both men approached, their AK 5C's at the ready.

Once they had got closer, one of them stepped forward, deadlocked in sight towards Asari's eyes.

"State your business."

"Director Loki Nystrom requested me here. I am Admiral Asari Raidan of the Mirevian Royal Navy, commander of the flagship,MRN Wolfwind."

"Sorry, sir. Right this way." The guard escorted Asari inside to Loki's office, while the other one returned to his previous position and continued to stand watch.

The long, colorless hallways were somewhat unusually quiet. Asari looked around for Loki's office,as he turned his head back tot facing forward he saw it and quickly thanked the guard.

Loki was sitting down with a large amount of documents on the desk,as he looked up to see Asari standing in the doorway.

"Come in,Admiral." Loki gazed into Asari's grey eyes,as the older gentleman sat down in the blue chair on the other side of his desk and said.

"Director Nystrom, why have you called me away from my post?" Asari had been confused, there was only one reason why he would be called

"I assume you haven't heard whats been happening in the international community recently." Loki stared Asari in the eyes as he slid a unmarked document to Asari.

Asari immediately looked at it puzzlingly as Loki spoke.

"One of the nations aligned with the PPDC, Stasnov, is on the forefront of a revolution." He paused for a moment to take a breath before continuing to speak. "We,by no means want that. What I am proposing is going before Her Imperial Majesty and The Speaker of Parliament with this information. I want you to come along with me,since if we do help the Stasnovans, you and your fleet would be going to assist."

Asari had stood up. "Let's go then, with utmost urgency."

They had hurried out of the office, headed towards the Palace in the Capital.

Aragon,Mirevia
The Royal Palace - Throne Room
16:22/4:22PM Local Time

45 minutes later...

Admiral Asari Raidan and the Head of the Mirevian Intelligence Agency, Director Loki Nystrom, had stormed into the throne room, trailed by Royal Guards, which Empress Akira Wolfe and Head Speaker of the Parliament,Dante, were sitting in. The room had been heavily guarded, more than usual,Asari noted in is head. When they entered the room,Empress Akira had looked over to the doors,in which now both he and Loki were standing in.

"I thought I said..-" Akira's voice boomed angrily to the guards behind Asari and Loki.

"Your Majesty,You need to see this." Loki quickly interrupted her, probably saving the poor soul from a lashing from Akira

Dante stood up beckoning Loki and Asari "Bring it here, comrade."

Loki approached the throne, bowing before Her Imperial Majesty, then handing the document to Dante.

He had started to speak "Milady,I am sorr.." when Dante had interrupted him. His eyes were deadlocked onto Akira now. He had a somber look on his face.

"Akira..Stasnov,our ally is being threatened by a uprising force, the Rekovian Lord’s Army." Dante had looked at it again swearing under his breath.

Akira sighed,as she for the first time noticed the Admiral standing next to the director. She looked back at Loki in what seemed like a calm panic. "I assume that's why you've brought Admiral Asari Raidan here." She paused for a moment as Loki shook his head. She turned her gaze to the Admiral, looking into his dark green eyes with her ice blue eyes. "Are you up for the task,Admiral. You would be landing in North Stasnov, unless otherwise directed from their government or myself."

"Yes,Your Majesty,we will leave as soon as you give us the word." Admiral Asari Raidan said as he bowed his head towards Akira.

"Go,get your men ready, you will leave immediately." Akira had commanded.

"Understood. I will send word to my XO right away."

Akira had quickly grabbed parchment and started writing out a letter to the Stasnovans.

Premier Nikolai Krasnov,

I understand you have a problem with the rebels, this RLA. I am sending MRN Fleets to North Stasnov to assist you with the rebels, they have orders to follow both your and my command. I hope this conflict will not turn out to be bloody, but if it does,The Mirevian Government stands with you, comrade. I hope for the best.

Sincerely,

XO Summers Presley

"Everyone man your stations! We're going to Stasnov when the Admiral returns!" Vice Admiral Summers called out from the bridge over the intercom relay.

Colonel Yuri Kasabian of the Royal Marines, assigned to the MRN Wolfwind, stood up from the card game that was going on between him and his fellow shipmates.

"Ah shit." Yuri looked around at his Marines and the Royal Navy Seamen. "You heard Summers, get going."

Everyone abandoned the card game and went to their stations,as Yuri hurried to reach the lower quarter of the ship to brief his Marines.

The intercom sparked to life again as footsteps headed for the bridge of the ship

"Fleet Admiral on deck! Be prepared to move in thirty seconds"

The engine bay of the MRN Wolfwind as well as the other ships assigned to her fleet roared to life,as one by one they left Norsbol Port. They knew it would only be a matter of days before they were on the ground and at sea fighting a rebellious enemy.

The Fleet Admiral stood on the bridge next to Summers, patting her on the back, gazing to the decks below as they manned their stations.

"You did well,Summers." Asari had said as Summers remained quiet. In her mind she thanked him,but she was only doing her job.

One Dead And Fifteen Others Arrested At A Úfarjýr House In Related Case

By: Benedikt Páll Ingólfssen
Earlier today three men two Insaeldic Nationals and one Stasnovian National with Permanent Residency in Insaeldor have been arrested in Íbúðslettur International Airport supposedly attempting to join the Rekovian Lord's Army by flying to Stasnov, their identities have been concealed for security reasons for relatives and close affiliates. The two had been on a watch list for some time as they had posted anti-secularistic and pro-RLA material on social media. The two Insaeldic men belong to the Insaeldic Pietist Church while the Stasnovian attended a local Orthodox Church and evidences show the three men had been in contact via e-mail seized by the KRA.

Later in the evening going off other tips gain throughout the month lead members of AHSSE to a small home in inner Úfarjýr where a total of sixteen men held themselves up in the building armed with Pistols, Submachine Guns, and Semi-Automatic Rifles. All the men were Members of the Pietist Chirch as well members of the United Christian Nationalist Movement a controversial political organization within Insaeldor. The standoff lasted three hours before an AHSSE team infiltrated the house where a quick firefight broke out which resulted in one gunman dead and no injuries.

These two cases of terrorism prevented have brought into question the United Christian Nationalist Movement and the Pietist Church as all men and women involved were members of one or both and while both are small have had instances of criminality with the 2002 Attack on the gay youth Kristján Thorirssen by 8 members United Christian Nationalist Movement and the 1998 Rauðurdádýr Synagogue Shooting by a member of the Pietist Church. However these two incidentses were not found to have conections to the organizations they belonged to a move highly criticized by legal and political experts alike.

However it also has brought criticism on the government for what it's called illegal obtainment of private property citing the Decleration of Civil Rights and Dýr V. Government of Insaeldor which has stated that E-mails, Private Messages, Text Messages and any other one way personal communications are the join private property of the two involved and with the states seizer of these personal iteans without a proper warrant.

Currently an investigation into the matter is underway with pressure by several Civil Rights Groups to included the Pietist Church and UCNM in the Investigation of all 18 men. Court dates for preliminary hearings have been set for April 3rd.

Provisional Chairman Pledges Military Support Towards Stasnov, Condemns RLA
[align=center]Image
Pictured: Brave Members Of The Chairwomens Volunteer Force

Ulfric Dramonov (
@ulfricdramonov26)
Wednesday, March Fourth, 2015| Wavaxangrad, Zoboyistan Province

Less than a month after the untimely death of State Chairman Veekan Yald, another wave of shocking news has hit the nation. The Rekovian Lords Army, a Christian fundamentalist terrorist organization based out of Western Stasnov, has made a resurgence in the area, and has occupied large parts of the city of Grazdnovo. This "organization", the RLA, was supposedly eradicated in 2011, and with our Zoboyizakoplayokloti government having close ties with the Stasnovan government, as well as prominent secularist policies, it's no surprise that our government would want to get involved. But with no elected leader in office, intervention in a foreign military conflict will cause nothing but mass political strife, a consequence our Federal Government seems to have ignored.

Luckily, the constitution restricts the military authority a non-elected leader can have. As a result, our nations involvement in the conflict has been restricted to a volunteer force of approximately 3,250 infantry, with special ops and air force personnel numbers not known to our databases. This volunteer force, or the 29th Expeditionary Militia if you want to be exact, is scheduled to leave for Stasnov today, but there is speculation that more of our nations armed forces are planning to leave for Stasnov later in the month, that is, if the Provisional Chairwomen can convince the National Assembly to allow it.

Also regarding the Rekovian conflict is the condemnation of the RLA broadcasted by our government this morning, which also included the announcement of our involvement. For those who missed the ZBC feed of the speech, we have written down the beginning of the speech and have included it in this here article for your convienience.

Attention all residents of Zoboyizakoplayoklot,

I am Phoebe Davidson, Provisional Chairwomen of our great nation. I bring you news, both good, and bad. Let's start with the bad news. Our good allies, the United Socialist States Of Stasnov, have recently been cast away from the prosperity of peace due to a conflict in the west of their nation. The perpetrators of these heinous acts of terrorism is the RLA, a Christian fundamentalist paramilitary group previously believed to be eradicated. But our Stasnovan allies cannot win this fight by themselves. Thus, I hereby declare the RLA an enemy of Zoboyizakoplayoklot, it's leaders wanted criminals, and its followers subject to the wrath of our army. But here is the good news. With approval of the National Assembly, our armed forces are Stasnov bound, with the 29th Expeditionary Militia leading the charge.

Jukil Docks, Jukil, Orangemouth Province

Orgrez cupped his hands nervously as he looked up at the clock tower. 4:26 the clock read. 4:30 was when he boarded the ship for Stasnov, and ultimately, Rekovia. He looked around at his surroundings. There were thousands if other soldiers at the docks, all presumably waiting for the four minutes to come by. Orgrez pursed his lips at the sight of them. They weren't nervous, or at least, they didn't look it. But with sweat streaming across his brow and body odor plaguing his armpits, Orgrez wasn't very good at hiding it.

4:27

Orgrez's nerves only worsened with the passing time. Trying to take his mind of it, Orgrez thought of his day. He had arrived at Jukil at around 10:00, and him, his girlfriend, his siblings, and his parents had spent a day in the coastal city doing all the stuff tourists did when they visited Jukil. Visiting the Ambak Petting Zoo, the only one in the world. Eating stereotypical Zoboyizakoplayokloti foods, delicacies such as Apple Flavoured milkshakes, waffles topped with fried chicken, gravy, and "farm grown" peas. Orgrez chuckled. Peas didn't even grow in Zoboyizakoplayoklot.

4:28

Orgrez began rocking from side to side on the park bench he was sitting on. He was doing it unintentionally of course, but he still did it never the less. As he continued to look around, he was surprised to see the other soldiers were still calm and relaxed, carefree. Orgrez had never been carefree. He had always been nervous about everything, from simplistic grade school math tests to the time he first asked out his girlfriend. Ah, how much he would miss Yanska. She had been everything he had ever dreamed for: Fun, attractive, responsible, and kind. For just a brief moment, the idea if never seeing her again popped into Orgrez's mind. But he flushed it away, the same way an Ambak would flush away it's morning snack. He would see her again. He knew he would.

4:29

Perspiration raining down his back, Orgrez began to pace in front of the bench he had been sitting on. Oh god, why am I even here!? he wondered, his heart pounding against his chest. Yanska, Mom, Dad, none of them wanted me here...but Grandpa. Orgez felt a strange wave of relief flood him as he remembered why he had enlisted, why he was there with the volunteer force. It had been his Grandpas dying wish. It had been his Grandpas dying wish for his favourite grandchild to see combat, prove the greatness of Zoboyizakoplayoklot to foreign peoples. He would do this. Not for Yanska, or his Father or Mother... But for his Grandpa, the one who taught him how to skin an Ambak and play Lacrosse. His Grandpa, the one who had told him stories of Communist Revolutions, freedom and hope. He would do this. He knew he would.

4:52

Orgrez looked out his window as the boat finally left. While he tried to get one last look of Yanska or his family, he knew he wouldn't, not today. But deep down, despite all the fears he had, he new he would again. He knew he would survive this war he had volunteered to fight in to honour an old mans dying wish... At least he hoped.

Lying back down in the bed, Orgrez stared at the roof. Taking a deep sigh, he closed his eyes, deciding that when he woke up, he would feel less stressed, more mentally prepared. He didn't know how long it would be until they arrived at Statsnov, but he didn't care. He would enjoy the ride and try to make friends, he decided. But he needed to rest before he could do any of that.

So sleep he did.

8. FREGATTENKAPITAN FRANK GREEN

06 March 2015; 1820 Hours
South-West of Mediniaa; Course 047 Degrees True
20m under the 'Ceiling'; Speed 16 Knots

Image
The Sonar and Hydrophone station of the Hull Control Room of the RSNS Savior

Course and Current Position

The Control room was silent as the Kaleun looked through the observation periscope. Going at 1/3 ahead, the Savior was near-dead silent, and any prying ears would have a hell of a time trying to even hear out the Savior. People were gazing at their screens, squinting, making out the dots and terrain features on the sonar and hydrophones. The silence was needed, especially after that one hell of a party yesterday. The crew were sober, but their spirits still high. Frank looked on by the side of the room. As a torpedo-officer, he was astounded by these 'office boys', who sat down and stared at computer screens. They graduate college, just to sit in a nuclear-tub, he'd often quip. The Kaleun still focused into the Periscope, before a young seaman, IT1 Qurani, cried out.

"Herr Kaleun, ship identified as Stasnovan vessel bearing 301 degrees off the port bow; medium speed and sounds like a large container ship!"

The Kaleun didn't wait for any additional information, rather he tunnel-visioned and instantly locked on to the mentioned vessel. It was a large container vessel, stacked to the top with containers. It was bound for Stasnov, as the direction would seem, and such to navigate between Mediniaa and Grestin, the container ship exposed its entire side for the Savior to blow open with torpedoes. The Kaleun, while looking through the periscope, blindly took a calculator and punched a few numbers in, muttering words that Frank couldn't understand. The crew seemed fixated on him, on their next action. Frank tried to visualize what it was to look through a periscope at your prey. They adrenaline, the...

"She's a big one! Roughly 150,000 Gross Tons. Sound the Battle alarm, I want tubes 1 thru 4 to be opened, and make sure that there aren't any vessels coming for us."

A chorus of "Aye, sir" ensued, and the alarm blared in everyone's ears. It was like the bees waking up, angry and confused at the presence of a threat. The sound of footsteps above and below them grew louder as the men took to their respective positions along the boat. Frank went to the Port-side Torpedo room, where Tubes 1 to 4 were. He witnessed as the torpedoes were inserted with great skill and deliberation. Their first taste of battle for most of us, he muttered. The peaked cap over his head was slightly tilted, slightly angled. It was a show of rebelliousness to the regime, but Frank did not allow it time to seep in enough to realize. The greased torpedoes slid and the doors shut, the officer at hand flipped a switch to indicate that they were loaded. It took 4 minutes flat, a far cry from older boats which required much manual labour. Motioning his way through the labyrinth that were the hallways, Frank got back to the control room in time to see the Kaleun calculating the distance and time to impact. His weapons officers would take care of actually steering the torpedo.

"Current bearing," -He checked his Compass- "307 degrees, speed... 12 Knots, range of 7.45 Kilometers. High speed, proximity-fuse and wire-guided. Our chances of sinking this thing is high, gentlemen. But enough of that, lets get on with the business."

Men began flicking switches, entering numbers and digits and the course of the torpedo. The XO discussed something with the Kaleun, while the weapons officers made their final adjustments. The Kaleun stared back into the periscope, the XO looking at the back of the Kaleun as if he would be able to see through the periscope aswell. The battle alarm was still wailing, but the men seemed occupied enough with what they had to do. Stopwatch at hand, the Kaleun gazed endlessly, seemed to wait for the perfect time, then...

"Loose Tube 1!"

The weapon officer obliged and pressed a button; the display on his screen showed a picture relayed back to him as well as the sonar chart. The others waited, the suspense was killing him, he could almost scream his anger out...

"Loose Tube 2!"

"Loose Tube 3! And cancel the order for Tube 4, we won't be needing the entire ordinance of this submarine to sink this ship."

Ticking, ticking, ticking. It was the only sound that echoed in the Control room, apart from the very minute buzzing of the air conditioning and Nuclear reactor. Minutes passed, feeling like hours. The weapons officers only steered and stared, while the rest of the crew were staring into their displays as well. The torpedo-boys have done their job, now these Radio-Control pilots better do theirs. The torpedoes, however, were guided by a spool of fiber-optic cable which trails from the end of the torpedo which relays information like speed, heading and distance back to the boat. Suddenly, the display on torpedo 1 turned to grey and black lines, indicating that the torpedo had detonated, and on target aswell. The other two torpedoes hit their mark; the crew silently celebrated in their seats as the captain reported 3 homogeneous columns of smoke and fire billowing from the ship. Soon after, the actual sound of the explosion reached the boat, the crew bro-fisting each other with great disregard to regular maritime warfare practices.

The Kaleun beamed with pride, for himself and his crew. He tilted his Peaked Cap backwards, akin to how one would do with a Baseball hat, and patted the backs of the XO and Frank as well. They had done well this day, and the Kaleun knew when was the best time to show his appreciation, now. Eyeing back into the periscope to ensure the Container ship was sinking, and it was for the fact that it was listing to starboard extremely, he ordered a reverse and plotted a new route to get to their designated patrol area.

King Verúlfer, Queen Jullæna, And Council Members Comment On The RLA Conflict In Stasnov

Image
King During His Weekly Press Release

By: Aðalsteinn Bjarni Vilhjalmssen

The Weekly Royal Press Reliese the room was abuzz with activity not just because this was the first press release where Queen Jullæna was an active participant but because if current event once again unfolding in the south of Atlas and with the all to publicized anti-terror maneuvers and the shooting death of one of them just yesterday. The King, his Queen, and several Councilers had voiced there opinion on the subject. When the King and Wieen were asked about the subject this is how the responded.

"It truly is a tragity that there are a few eclect radicals within our boards that want to travel to cause harm. We as a secular and just society can not condone the action of the RLA in no manner and by extension the radicals who wanted to join and cause harm to innocent people. I think that it is our duty as a nation and my duty as the leader of the nation need to work to work to prevent people like the ones we saw yesterday although my hope is that we don't have to resort to the tactics we had to yesterday. Hopefully given the situation here we can work with the Valaran, Hayabusan, and Stasnovian governments in order to help prevent any insaeldic form joining this terrorist organization and will do everything practically possible to help the Stasnovian government combat this threat." He stated with his wife echoing his words in her statement.

"I agree with my Husband, we can not condone this sort of behavior in our nation it's simply goes against all the principles this nation was founded. When we have angry, disenfranchised youth willing to commit acts of violence especial if they wish to do so along side violent non-state actors we have to take a stand against this sort of barbaric activity." She told use. When asked if the group was a christian group and was thus inspired by biblical teachings in regards to their violence.

"No, as a Christian I believe that the bible teaches lessons of peace especially the New Testement. I believe that the people belonging to the RLA were already prone to violence and they have simply used the Christian faith and the Socio-political situation in the area to justify there violence. I can't in good faith say that the RLA is a christian group because what they do is so overtly non-christian." Verúlfer told us and when it was time for Jullæna to answer she simply motioned towards Verúlfer in agreement to his statement.

Afterwards wards we were able to catchup with Councler Péturá Hilmarsdóttyr who told us this after the Press Release.

"It's just unbelievable to me that our King is in such denial, we know what this group is and that's Christian Terrorist and we can't just tip toeing around this. Terms like radical and violent non-state actors are just sugar coating the real issue. We have enemies and they are recruiting here as we saw yesterday and that's disgraceful it really is and I think we need to presure him into actually acknowledge what we are up against." She told us just minutes afterwards. We later talked to Senior Councilor Johán Benídikssen about his thoughts on the Kings Statements.

"I rather liked them, they were clear, they hit the issue dead on, yet it wasn't inflammatory and he was careful to word his statements very carefully as to not ruffle any feathers unneedfully. While some will argue he's not calling the group what it really is anyone with a basic understanding of our language will tell you those words were appropriate and just because he avoided inflamitory rhetoric doesn't mean he somehow can't see what's in front of him. He knows full well and he used very precise and diplomatic wording to make his point." He said.

While the wording of his statement may be controversial it's no secret that the Insaeldic government is working to hault any and all citizens wishing to join the RLA or any related groups with stricter background checks and preflight screenings at all airports servancing international flights while the police have been alerted to any possible RLA sympathizers or recruiters and has made it harder for people to fly to both Stasnov and any actions neighboring Stasnov but will have to wait to any if any other more proactive measures regarding the RLA crisis in Stasnov.

RAID ON THE DEFENCE LEAVES SEVEN DEAD, TWENTY WOUNDED

Two days ago, the Headquarters of Defence for the USRA was attacked by four gunmen. Seven people were shot dead, and about twenty were hospitalised. It is currently unclear as to who perpetrated the attack, though Ekbira terrorists allied with the RLA are suspected. The four gunmen who attacked the facility have not yet been found, and they are believed to have fled to the Sono Mountains.

The attack began at around 17:35 with the raid of the armoury located near the entrance to the premises, say witnesses. They are reported to have been masked and unmarked. Witnesses say that they kicked down the side door to the Strategic Wing, where many high-profile personnel were located. They fired on whomever they saw, and few escaped unscathed. Yesterday, the head of the security force for the facility was found dead in his chair, shot in the head by his colleague Senev Desekakil, also reported to have left with the gunmen. A quote from one witness, currently hospitalised with three bullets in her leg, has been placed below.

"I was walking from my office to the break room to get a drink when I heard gunfire and screaming down the hallway. I drew my gun and ran towards the source of the sound when I collided with a tall, masked man. I had dropped my gun during the collision and was defenceless. He aimed for my torso, but I was able to move quickly enough to avoid a fatal wound."

The attack appears to have been directed towards the Supreme Commander of the Alosteka military, Yelev Derokol. She had left just ten minutes earlier for personal reasons, inadvertently saving her life. Witnesses say that when the gunmen reached her office and didn't find her, they left the building.

The gunmen have been classified as terrorists by the Ministry of Domestic Safety, and a military search has commenced across the nation. Most of the effort is being focused in the Sono Mountains due to the extensive cave systems and lack of human settlement throughout. Telev Manokul, President of the United Socialist Republics of Alosteko, released this statement yesterday:

"Today is a day of solemnity as we mourn the victims of the attack on the Ministry of Defence. Seven have been killed by the gunmen, and approximately twenty people have been wounded. The military is doing all it can to capture these terrorists while also juggling the conflict in Stasnov. THe attack is believed to have been perpetrated by terrorists from the Ekbira National Front, a militant organisation that desires to break away from Alosteko. They have allied themselves with the RLA, and both must be stopped at all costs. I am announcing the implementation of extra security measures for anyone supporting the independence of the Ekbira Autonomous Republic or identifying with the Ekbira nationality. While this policy will face criticism from the Ekbira peoples, I want the true patriots of Alosteka to know that they are subhuman, undeserving of rights given to true members of civilised society. Thank you, and glory to the Kingdom of Tervaazho!"

The statement has received extremely harsh criticism from almost all sides, called racist, xenophobic, and "an abomination to the Alosteka government". President Manokul was elected last year for the Conservative Party, and has been criticised for controversial statements in the past as well. This speech is expected to raise ethnic tensions, only encouraging extremism from both sides and a potential large-scale conflict. His mention of the old Tervaazho Kingdom has reportedly alienated citizens from the central and northern portions of the country.

Sirens had become a familiar sound around the Ministry grounds. Police vehicles and ambulances frequently entered and exited the premises. Large groups of people had flocked around the gates in an attempt to see something happen. It had been two days since the attack, but the stress of the first one still hadn't subsided. SC Derokol had visited the place three times for government-promoted publicity stunts in an attempt to calm the populace. Once she even had the privilege to talk with the Prime Minister.

I don't deserve any of this, she thought. I wasn't even here when it was attacked. I don't know why everyone is crawling all over me. Even with this newfound popularity, she was still depressed. After all, she did watch her mother die in her arms in the hospital. She and her wife were growing apart. She couldn't even go to a happy workplace, with all of the sadness there. But Derokol knew that if she ended it all, the military would fall into chaos without proper hierarchy. There would be no-one at the top to manage the big picture. She had no choice but to keep living, lest her nation fall at the hands of its enemies.

Somewhere in the Sono Mountains

"Sir, where exactly are we?", asked the pilot.

"I have no clue", replied the navigator. "I've never even been to this part of Alosteko. This is all new to me."

"Ah well", said the pilot. "At least we can get some peace and quiet up here."

"Peace and quiet? No such thing when you're hurtling through the sky in a hunk of metal propelled by a controlled explosion", said the mechanic.

"You know what I meant", the pilot replied. "No-one to give us orders twenty-four hours a day."

"I suppose", the navigator said. "But there is still the expectation that we'll go back to base to receive more orders."

"It doesn't have to be that way", said the mechanic. "We could always start a coup! I'm joking, of course. I'm a loyal patriot, not a dirtbag Ekbira."

"But in all seriousness, what if we did start a coup?", asked the pilot. "It would severely decrease the amount of bureaucracy the military hierarchy creates."

"You aren't seriously thinking about turning on your own people, are you?", replied the mechanic.

"Maybe I am", said the pilot. Then he turned to the navigator, who had been silent through the entire tangent.

"Why not?", he replied. "But we need to do it on a large scale. We need to get way more people in on this."

"Are you even listening to yourselves speak?", yelled the mechanic.

"Yes, and since you're not in support of this, we have no other choice but to silence you", said the navigator.

With that, the plane set off towards the capital city.

General Overview

The battle of Kazan, it was being called. A fighting retreat by the Stasnovan forces had seemingly become a rout, and then a partial annihilation. Repots of burning tanks and men had captivated the public eye, and images of the destruction were streaming across social media and news sites alike. It was the largest military engagement in Western Curente for a decade. The war was spiralling out of control.

Everyone with a voice sought to add their opinion within the Empire. News paper editorials and comments were clogged with the escalating crisis. The VBC's analysis of the war had some 12 million views, and its live updates on the situation caused a website crash. Stocks had their worst day for 4 years, and dropped 5% on average, as investors dumped shares belonging to companies with holdings in Stasnov in a panic that only financial markets could achieve. 12 protests all across major cities had been scheduled, most decrying the violence, some advocating peace, and others pushing for armed intervention. The military buildup on the Stasnovan border was no secret. It would have been impossible to hide, and there was certainly no intention of doing so. Such displays projected their own force. Troops were still flooding in, and lines of trucks now extended for kilometres. The tanks were already placed on the border itself, the barrels of their guns overlooking the clouded lands to the west.

There was only one question left. And everyone was asking it.

Will the Valaran Empire go to war?

Undisclosed location, Valaran Empire.
5th March, 0930

"As you can see here, the tactical shortcomings of the Stasnovan armed forces are more than apparent." Admiral Graven finished his presentation. "Disarray doesn't quite cover the state they're in. Reports on the ground stated a commissar closed a bridge, leaving the elements of the 51st Motor Rifle Regiment to be wiped out in order to protect a civilian convoy."

"How admirable." a junior minister ventured.

"How misguided." retorted Flint, spymaster of the Empire.

"Indeed." Graven brought the conversation back. "It seems their command and control has broken down, not to mention a lack of any semblance of strategy. They seem firmly on the back foot and thats putting it mildly."

Prime Minister Hesseren shifted in his seat. "What ramifications will this have then? What's your projection of the situation?" The daily briefings he'd ordered on the situation were only serving to highlight just how bad the insurrection was. More than anything he now craved information; this murky world of uncertainties and predictions was taking its toll on the normally direct prime minister, but he equally knew he couldn't afford to risk any shred of knowledge or insight escape his grasp.

"Effectively, we don't expect them to hold the RLA. Grazdnovo is projected to fall within 48 hours, and Ostokova province in a week. Remaining Stasnovan units in the area will either be forced to retreat, or crushed." The room fell silent, barring the chatter of technological instruments. No one wanted to say it, but this had all the markings of a catastrophe.

"That's a rather damning assessment, Admiral."

"It is, but we thinks its justified. Without a massive and sudden deployment of Stasnovan forces into Ostokova to shore up the situation, something we aren't seeing on the ground, the RLA's advance will continue. Even with aerial supremacy or even superiority the Stasnovans won't hold them. They lack the strength or the organisation on the ground as of now. In the short term they will be suffering defeats."

"And the long term?"

"That's harder to project. If the Stasnovans can recover the initiative or receive significant foreign support, then the rebellion could prove short-lived. But neither is especially likely. Instead what we expect is that limited gains will be made against the rebels, but that the insurgency will continue to hold much of Ostokova for months, if not years. This may become permanent if they garner international support for autonomy, religious freedoms and even independence, and there are countries that could support this. But equally, they could lose this support if atrocities are committed, and its notable how pro-Stasnovan the international response has been so far. Sasturary Islands, Lueypola, Carsodonia, Bratislav, Aeyariss, north Yemen and Adampia are possible supporters of the rebels, but none have yet spoken out, while a Stasnovan allies have all promised to fight the insurgency. Excluding State actors, the RLA have some low level support from Hayabusa and Insaeldor, but this is relatively minor. Hayabusa have also promised to support us, which is reassuring, but they look to be internally divided on the issue, with some 650 citizens already in the RLA." The Admiral paused to take a sip of water. "Barring any sudden external or domestic shifts, we expect the insurgency to control most of Ostokova for the next two months to three years, and for significant rebel activity to be maintained for possibly five years after. This is the current timeframe we're looking at if current events are anything to go by."

"What about Rodstov and Grenoda?" Hesseren leaned in, interested.

"They're a wild card, a dark horse, if you will. These calculations are not based on their involvement. However, given past dealings, if they were to intervene with our forces were to intervene, this could easily turn in an armed conflict between us and them."

Eyebrows were raised and frowns indented themselves on several faces. "You think it will be that bad?"

"Sir, those of us who were involved Zerra and Baggnagia will remember just how tense things got in both occasions. Their ideas of cooperation are... severely restrictive. Bluntly, they have no real understanding of multilateral cooperation, and only a vague grasp of notions like 'national sovereignty' and 'appropriate response'. Not to mention their national pride severely conflicts with our own. Should our ideas and their ideas of how to deal with the insurgency come into conflict, heated would be an understatement."

He detected the hardened attitudes of the room. Under the framework of cooperation and friendship, bad blood lurked. Any future action could easily be stained with such past grievances. This would have to be dealt with carefully. "Any other support for the Stasnovans?"

"We're looking at low level support from several nations. Da'klawedian forces are being dispatched, but it will under a division on the ground. Their main involvement will be naval and aerial, but hardly anything to tip the balance. The same goes for Mirevia, which has promised a fleet, and Zoboyizakoplayoklot, which dispatched the 29th Expeditionary Militia. These aren't exactly decisive contributions. The only possibility of the crisis taking a truly international dimension is with the terrorist attack in USRA, which appears to be related. If it is, we could be looking at considerable military support by them. Otherwsie, its up to the Stasnovans to sort out this crisis... or for us to intervene."

"What is our situation?"

"Both Legions will be fully operational within 24 hours. They would have been fully mobile now, but technical and logistical difficulties of deploying such heavy forces was greater than expected. Forward elements of the VRF's 7th army will also be ready in that timeframe, but the fleet and the 4th will take longer. If we want to act now, we only really have the special forces and airwings at our disposal."

"If I order a full complement of airstrikes, will the rebels still take Grazdnovo?"

"You'll slow the advance, but without support on the ground, its unlikely that we will halt it entirely. And its equally doubtful our full military weight could be thrown against them until after it has fallen."

"We will also needs the votes in Parliament to do this." interjected Foreign Secretary Crien, mindful of the precarious internal situation.

"I can get them." Hesseren closed down discussion on that front. This wasn't the place, and he didn't want to be reminded of the deal with Osteric.

There was only one question left. No one dared say it, but Hesseren answered anyway.

"Tell Varkalen he has 4 hours. I will call a vote during that time. Then we're going in."
I used to run an alliance, and a region. Not that it matters now.

Yuznaya, Stasnov - At Foreign Navy HQ at FNP: Domácí, Major Pavel Kramoliš, 1.Marine Bn.

The phone rang a few more times. Pavel remained calm and waited. As it rang his aid slipped into his office and placed a folder in front of him and waited. Pavel pinned the phones receiver between his ear and shoulder and pulled the file towards him and opened it. Inside was the full details of the 1.Marine Battalions numbers as well as operational units in the area. A short list of Stasnovan allies were listed. Pavel took note of a report of mobilization of troops to the area but Valaran legions were absent. The three of them (Valaran, Stasnov, and the UARRG) were close during Zerra conflict and again in Bangangia. It seemed wrong note to Pavel. I'll call them after I get ahold of someone in Stasnov... he thought he heard the phone pick up then was placed back down with a clang. Pavel threw the folder on to his desk and hung up the phone and looked at his aid.

"Sir" The aid snapped. "All Marine units accounted for sir, All except the 4th Marine Light Mechanized Company, they were on scheduled leave and the order to return has been given. Their unit will need the next 2 hours to get prepped, sir." The aid reported.

"Thank you, Please leave I need to make an important call." Pavel said absentmindedly

"Yes sir... I'll be just outside then, sir." The aid replied slowly and exited the room after saluting.

Pavel reached and grabbed a different phone, This one was white with normal buttons unlike the green one that connected to Stasnov Military High Command. This phone could be used for normal calls. Pavel tapped a few buttons and the phone began to ring. after two rings the phone was picked up and an older gruff voice spoke.

"Hello?"

"Commander Maly?"

"Yes? What is it its the middle of the night here... who is this?"

"Hello I am Major Pavel Kramoliš of the 1st Marine Battalion."

"Ahh yes Hello Pavel how can I assist you." Maly yawned turning his head away from the phone but Pavel still heard him.

"I doubt you have seen the news since you were sleeping sir." Pavel asked

"Yes... what is this about?"

"There is a group of insurrectionists in Stasnov and they have pushed local defence forces out of a province called..." Pavel paused to double check a note he made "...Grazdnovo in the region of Ostokova. sir, I tried to..."

"What? One moment Major, I need to get into my office to organize what your giving me give me 15 minutes. Mean time have you readied your troops?"

"Yes sir All companies will be at full fighting strength within the next 2 hours."

"Units on leave?"

"Yes sir, 4th Marine Mechanized Company sir."

"Ah alright, If you haven't been able to get a hold of Stasnov Command I am ordering you to physically get in touch with them. Go to the Capital or to the front line and find out what the hell is going on. I am going to see what I can do from my end then I will contact you on Freq 59 by 50 on Gamma protocols with what I figure out. Okay?"

"Yes Sir"

"Good, Maly, out." Pavel then heard the sound of bed sheets and the phone clanking back down on the receiver. Maly must have been in bed. Pavel then stood and called out for the Aid. who rushed in. Pavel wrote a few orders down on a small piece of paper." Then walked over his closet in his office and pulled on his combat gear. The aid was just about to ask what was going on when Pavel answered him.

"Go out and get the rest of the company command together. We are going to Grazdnovo to hold back so uppity segationists."

"Yes sir."

The first Recon had sent their Advanced Recon Platoon that took up 5 of the helicopters.
2nd rifle sent their Recon platoon as well which left the SOF troop from the riverboat company mounting up in his Huron for the trip.

Richardson House, Hallowell City, Hallowell
6th March, 0500

The policeman posted outside the street-facing door of Richardson House struggled to stay awake at 5 o'clock in the morning. His hat had slipped down over his eyes, and he had nearly shot himself in the foot after a sleep-induced spasm at the beginning of his shift. Indeed, the only thing keeping him from tipping over, besides the early Hallowell City car and lorry traffic, were the sounds of yelling and what sounded like a furious argument coming from within the building. The fellow had seen a couple of black vans pull up beside the door at around midnight and discharge their cargo of ministers, security, and what looked to be a crate of cognac; what had followed was a raucous round of yelling from inside, including a gruff-sounding voice that had erupted "Bloody Christians! Wasn't Haynakia enough for them?"

For days, Stasnov, one of Hallowell's greatest allies and the major arms supplier for the military, had witnessed her own army disintegrate and fall back in the face of a determined offensive by the RLA, a group of radical Orthodox terrorists. The Royal General Staff were at a complete loss as to how the Stasnovans could have fallen apart so quickly, or what the ramifications were for Hallowell, who used much of the equipment that had been pummeled by the RLA. And so, the Prime Minister had convened a meeting with his defence ministers and the military brass to discuss the appropriate national response to the insurgency; in typical Hallowell fashion, he could not resist the cognac and tobacco.

The room was filled with the aroma of fancy alcohol and imported cigars. The rich smoke clung to the plush furniture and paneled tables and walls that adorned the room. Against one wall, a fireplace slowly flickered as the embers died. Complementing this pseudo-romantic scene was the very unromantic John Aberdeen, who sat in his armchair, suit flecked with cigar ashes, cognac glass in one hand and a strategic report in the other. His chest heaved as he fumed with anger at the uncontrollable situation in what could be considered Hallowell's most valuable military ally. Facing him, arms crossed as he leaned against a side table, was James Stewart, his Foreign Minister. Sitting next to Aberdeen was Lord Hayes, the Defence Minister; finishing the group of dignitaries was William Dray-Howard, the Chief of the Royal General Staff. Glancing at his paper, Aberdeen spoke.

"Howard!"

The general looked up from his glass. "Ye- yes, sir?"

"What do you think the strategic likelihood is of airstrikes crippling the RLA?"

Howard coughed. "Sir, the RLA is clearly better organised and equipped than the Bratislavan paramilitaries we recently faced down with airstrikes in Cydonia. As you're no doubt aware, they caused the Stasnovan forces facing them to crumble within days, especially around-" he coughed again, exhaling a cloud of smoke- "Kazan."

The Prime Minister stood up. "I am interested in the Valaran response to this crisis. Their tanks have rumbled tae the Stasnovan border, but yet they sit, deliberating about intervention. Hallowell won't dally on this, I can assure you." He pointed at Howard for what he apparently thought was dramatic effect.

Hayes now waded into the conversation. "Sir, if Stasnovan troops continue their poor performance on the ground, then not even a Valaran intervention will be able to save them. There is a very controversial story going around headquarters, maybe apocryphal, but even so; that the Stasnovan command closed a bridge, leaving one of their own regiments to be cut to pieces, and that scores of civilians have died in such blunders. The leadership is clearly incapable of effective action against the RLA, even if the Valaran legions trundle across the border and enter the fray."

Aberdeen, his face heavy, sighed. "Nae, I won't have our infantry and armour engaged in such disasters. The last thing this government needs is a military disaster in Stasnov, especially with elections coming up and this new fellow on the throne. I'll only, willingly, mind you, enter into this war if my military leadership can promise me that you won't turn this intervention in a Communist hellhole into a massive defeat for Hallowell and her allies."

Hayes and Howard shifted uncomfortably, while Stewart maintained his unflinching gaze at the Prime Minister. Twiddling his thumbs, the Chief of the Royal General Staff spoke once more.

"My minister and I are confident that the intervention of Hallowell forces, in conjunction with a Valaran invasion, will be able to turn the tide, at least for now. However, if the RLA could defeat the Stasnovans this easily, then it is unknown how they will manage an army that uses, essentially, the same equipment that now litters the fields of Kazan. This, sir, should be our greatest worry at the moment, especially with the Cydonian conflict at a temporary standstill and Sde Dovan forces now moving up defensively along our border. Hallowell must be careful in our intervention. Indeed, the last thing we need on our plate is another massive Curente conflict, this time within a Hallowell ally instead of some unimportant country like Adampia or Carsodonia."

With a nod, Aberdeen turned and dismissed the expressionless guards who flanked the door from the room.

"Aye, then. I'm going in." He proceeded to turn the cognac glass upwards, draining it into his mouth.

Crisis in Rekovia escalates, international community affected.

While the RLA is making significat advances in Rekovia itself, terrorists affiliated with the RLA have made their presence felt abroad.

Military sources have confirmed that the separatists of the Rekovian Lord's Army have made significat progress in their offensive in Rekovia, and managed to capture a number of settlements in Eastern Rekovia, as the civilian death rate is on the rise. Units of the 51st Motor Rifle Regiment managed to evacuate a large convoy of civilian vehicles from the town of Kurbagova via the Kazan bridge in a fighting retreat. The battle resulted in heavy casualties, both for the 51st and the civilians. However, despite the recent defeats of the Armed Forces, the 18th Guards Motor Rifle Division has managed to establish a seemingly stable defensive line near the town of Vlazdeve 73 kilometres east of Grazdnovo, called "Gubarev Line", in honor of the Division's commander, Major General Alexey Gubarev.

On an international scale, the allies of Stasnov have declared their support for the country. The Armed Forces of Rodstov and Grenoda have Marine units stationed in the Province of Yuznaya, and our sources state that a mobilisations of those forces has begun. The Da'klawedian government has already dispatched troops that are expected to arrive in Stasnov soon. The Valaran Empire has ammassed forces along the Stasno-Valaran border, that are believed to enter the country to aid the military against the RLA separatists. The United Socialist Republics of Alosteko, a long standing ally of Stasnov, have also declared their support for the Stasnovan government and Mirevian government has also promised to send a Fleet to reinforce the Stasnovan forces. The Zoboyizakoplayokloti governmnet has mobilised the 29th Expeditionary Militia, a unit of volunteers, that will be deployed in Rekovia, and pledged its support towards the Stasnovan government. The Zoboyizakoplayokloti government has also declared the RLA as an enemy of Zoboyizakoplayoklot itself.

While the RLA is making significat advances in Rekovia itself, terrorists affiliated with the RLA have made their presence felt abroad as well. Two Insaeldic Nationals, members of the infamous Insaeldic Pietist Church, and one Stasnovan National with Permanent Residency in Insaeldor have been arrested in at Íbúðslettur International Airport this Thursday, while trying to fly to Stasnov to join the separatists. Later in the evening, sixteen men barricaded themselves in a house in inner Úfarjýr, Insaeldor. The Insaeldic Counter-Terrorist unit managed to enter the building after a three-hour standoff, and a short firefight broke out which ended in the death of one of the gunmen and no injuries. All of these men were members of the controversial organisation within Insaeldor, known as United Christian Nationalist Movement. The Insaeldic government has declared that it will try to prevent more Insaeldic citzens from joinning the RLA or any related groups .

This action was also strangely mirrored by the Great Kindom of Hayabusa. And i say strangely because the relations between the United Socialist States of Stasnov and the Great Kindom have not been the best over the last years. The Hayabusan government has declared that the Great Kindom will remain "Militarily Defensive" in the crisis in Rekovia. The GK's government has has stated that it will do "it's best" to prevent more Hayabusans from joinning the RLA's ranks, as it is estimated that around 650 Hayabusan citizens are already fighting for the RLA, to help their "Christian Borthers in Arms".

Premier and General Secretary, Nikolai Krasnov had this to say about the situation in his latest speech: "We greately appreciate the allied response to the conflict in Rekovia. We are willing to give permission to allied troops to enter our territory in order to help us eliminate the RLA terrorists that plague our great Motherland. I would also like to say that we are more than thankful that the Insaeldic and Hayabusan governments will try to prevent more of their citizens from joinning the separatist ranks. We look forward to work with those countries for this cause. Now i want to give my promise the Stasnovan people, the sons and daughters of the Motherland: I promise you my comrades, my brothers and sisters, that the Party will do whatever it takes to stop the terrorist scum from pillaging our great nation. Our military powerful, and with the help of our allies, we will strike fear in the hearts of those who opposse us. Glory to Stasnov! Glory to the Revolution!"

UPDATE

SHOCKING NEWS: STASNOVAN MERCHANT SHIP HIT BY TORPEDOES NEAR NORTHERN COAST!

In a shocking address to the public just half an hour ago, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, General Morozov, announced that the Merchant ship Togrovet was sunk when hit by three torpedoes. It is believed that the torpedoes were launched by a submarine, of which the origin is uknown. It has been the first attack within Stasnovan territory by a foreign power in decades. The ship was sunk with all hands on board within Stasnovan waters, and is believed that all of its 324-member crew has either being killed by the torpedoes or drowned in the ocean. The ships last transmission reported the torpedo impacts before all communications went silent. It now remains to be seen if the attack is connected to the Rekovian conflict.

General Morozov had this to say on the situation: "We strongly condemn the perpetrators of the attack, and we demand that the nation behind it reveals itself to the public, that has apparently took advantage of the situation in Rekovia to strike our trade shipping. We will not tolerate any attacks against civilian vessels, and we assure you that the Stasnovan response will be swift and brutal!"

Grishaya Naval Base
Stasnovan Revolutionary Navy, 1st Fleet
0933 hours

It was a cold morning. The snow and ice had covered the area, and the Grishaya Naval Base wasn't an exeption to this. The base was the home port of the 2nd Anti-Submarine Ship Division, a unit of seven Udaloy-Class Anti-Submarine Destroyers, and the 4th Submarine Flotilla, a unit of attack submarines, as well as some other units of the 1st Fleet. The base was on high alert since the first minutes of the reports that the Stasnovan merchant vessel Togrovet was sunk by that unkown submarine. Many of the sailors, naval infantrymen and other personel in the base, as well as pretty much every Stasnovan and civillian was shaken to the core that day. Their image of their invulnerable Motherland cracked, in a way that couldn't be easily mended.

The men were preparing their vessels for combat operations. It was the first combat mission of the base for years, and everyone was nervous, but eager nevertheless. They were all enraged about the loss of the lives of their innocent compatriots, and many were proclaiming that they were ready to paint the ocean red with the blood of the bastards that dared to attack the civilian vessel. Captain Dimitri Grigorovich Kalinin assured them that there would be bloodshed in the ocean soon enough, like the one already going on in Rekovia wasn't enough.

At 1130 hours, four Udaloy-Class Destroyers, one Akula-Class, three Yasen-Class and five Kilo-Class submarines left the base. But they weren't the only ones that went out hunting. The usual response of the SRN to a submarine threat was in effect. Armed Tu-142MKs were in the air, patrolling the Northern Stasnovan sea for the enemy submarines with their thermal imaging systems and sonobuoy. Anti-submarine naval minefields were deployed along trade shipping lanes, and armed aerial patrols in these areas were coordinated with the merchant ships, which were now started to be escorted by the Udaloy-Class destroyers and Kilo-Class submarines of the First Fleet.

But the SRN brough a more unconventional weapon into play. When the tensions in Atlast started rising, the SRN's High Command had envisioned that, in case of a large-scale conflict, the Stasnovan trade shipping would be a major target for the enemy. Hence, some large container ships, the most popular prey for submarines, were requisitioned by the Revolutionary Navy. In secret shipyards across the Northern Coast, these ships were modified to fit ASW warfare. They were retrofitted with sonars and forward looking infrared detectors used to spot the large plumes of heat that nuclear-powered subs generate, and also spot periscopes and snorkels. The containers of those ships didn't carry trading goods, instead, they were "disguised" launchers of SEAV/PLO missiles, the ASW variant of the Stasnov-Carlossian SEAV missile. That way, the container ship could spot and attack the attacking submarine itsefl. These ships would have escort, to fool the enemy submarines into thinking that they were regural merchant ships.

The enemy submarines, whatever their affiliation may be, have awaken the beast resting within the Revolutionary Navy.

Earnest Thinley International Airport Terminal 3, Sde Dov, Sde Dov, 9:05AM, March 8

Eight men stood in line at the Orenair check-in counter. These men were members of the Sde Dovian People's Army, a group that was declared as a terrorist group by the Sde Dovian government. The People's Army were Communists and disowned religion, but the cash-strapped group was willing to offer any assistance for money. They were bound for Stasnov to fight with the RLA.

"Next passengers, please." said the check-in agent.

The group moved forward, carrying their bags full of clothes and other things that they will need. Anatoliy, the leader of the men was the first to move forward. They were all nervous, and they had one shot of vodka each to calm their nerves before entering the terminal.

"Good morning." said the agent, a young blonde in her early 20s.
"Good morning. We're a group of eight, bound for Vastava. I believe we've been upgraded to First Class." said Anatoliy, handing their documents over to the agent. On a last minute whim, they decided to upgrade to First Class for the extra baggage allowance and the ability to be the first to deplane. The agent looked at their documents, forged by a deep-cover agent of the People's Militia in the Foreign Ministry. All of the group was looking around carefully. Police roamed the check-in hall, already alert for anyone flying to join the RLA. The agent looked up to Anatoliy.

"Purpose of travel?"
"We are on a study tour of the Stasnovian capital and it's outskirts. We are there to study Stasnovian architecture. If you like, you can see the invitation."

Anatoliy handed the invitation to the agent, and she looked a bit skeptical about the invitation. Then, she handed the invitation back, along with eight boarding passes and the group's passports.

"Mr. Anatoliy Birkunov, Luis Manzano, David Ramos, Stanislav Putrov, Marko Vasnetzov, Carlo Ruiz, Abdul al-Ghazzawi and Marko Grekov, all bound for Vastava, eight check-in bags, all tagged for Vastava. You are invited to the Magellan Lounge after clearing immigration. Your gate is Gate B21, boarding time 11:45. Have a good flight."
"Thank you, good day to you."

The group of eight breathed a sigh of relief after they checked-in. Unknown to them, the agent behind the counter was a member of the Sde Dovian Border Police. Behind the counter she said over the radio: "The package is on its way, I repeat it's on its way."

"Good job. Standby." was the reply.

Boarding gate B21, 11:48AM

"Orenair Flight 482 to Vastava is now boarding in Gate B21. All passengers on this flight are requested to proceed to gate B21 for boarding."

After some breakfast and shots of vodka in the lounge, they finally proceeded to the boarding gate. They quickly zipped through the boarding line, and took their seats on the Boeing 777-300ER, coincidentally named "Earnest Thinley" after the ex-President who overthrew the Communist regime which spawned the group. The group were offered more champagne, and some sandwiches. More passengers boarded the aircraft, including two men that looked like diplomats. These men were actually surveillance personnel watching them who would disembark later on. The surveillance personnel looked like they were sending some text messages, but they were actually giving a signal to the boarding party. After around thirty minutes, the aircraft doors were about to close.

Suddenly, a group of twenty Border Policemen ran down the jetway, and the leader exchanged a few words with the purser.

"Shit." Anatoliy thought. His other men were downing their champagne in an attempt to keep calm. The surveillance personnel looked at the men. That added to the tension. "Any minute now." thought Marko. The group was hoping that their deep cover agent in the Sde Dovian Border Police mislead the Border Police on their whereabouts. Unknown to them, that agent betrayed them. Then, the moment they were all dreading: the Border Policemen boarding the aircraft. Luis was the first to be cuffed. Border Policemen began cuffing everyone else. Some passengers were filming the action on their cellphones.

"You're all under arrest for terrorism and joining a foreign rebel group. I will now read to you your rights."

All of them felt the feeling of intense failure as they were lead off the aircraft and while they were read their rights. For the Border Police, it was a great day for them. Eight possible threats to national security were arrested.

Premier Krasnov,

It is with a heavy heart I send my condolences on the sinking of a Stasnovian cargo ship. In response to this, we will be sending the Sde Dovian Navy's 1st Fleet, composed of the best ships of the Sde Dovian Navy. On top of this, we will send two P-8 Poseidon ASW aircraft to assist in the hunt for this submarine that has sunk your merchant ship. This act of firing on an unarmed merchant ship is a flagrant violation of international law, and we strongly condemn this. On the matter of your war with the RLA, we will keep a neutral stance for now, and we will monitor the situation. The deployment of military forces to support is on the table, just so you know. We have arrested fifteen people trying to join the RLA, eight of which are members of a terrorist organization, the Sde Dovian People's Army. To clear up any misunderstanding, we strongly condemn terrorism in the name of religion. Our deepest thanks to your intelligence services for helping us arrest these eight men. All for the best,

President Vladimir Putrov,
President of the Union of Sde Dov

9. FREGATTENKAPITAN FRANK GREEN

08 March 2015; 1351 Hours
In Extended Patrol Area; Course 64 Degrees True
23m under the 'Ceiling'; Speed 24 Knots

Image
Mess Hall of the RSNS Savior

Extended Patrol Zone and Current Position

Men began strolling out of the Mess Hall back to their stations as eating time was over. A few people still ate their meals, a few were playing cards or chess on the tables; they were those off-duty for the hour. Frank walked back to the control room, entered, met with the usual silence that was. The submarine was dead quiet, decibel-meters around the submarine reported a rating of 70dB, usual for a Sasutarian submarine traveling at 1/2 ahead. Sasutarian submarines were built for stealth, and thus a great deal of effort was put into sound-proofing and buffering joints with rubber in order to minimize vibrations and hence reduce sound. The 8-bladed propellers worked in conjunction with pump-jets, meaning that the submarine produced more thrust at lesser speeds. People settled down on their work-seats, the Kaleun and XO at their usual perch, in the center of the room and a high vantage point. The periscopes were in front of them, with charts and tables making a horseshoe shape around them.

It would be another day aboard the Savior, paroling endless stretches of ocean, empty ocean. The crew looked sick, the Kaleun too. The mood aboard the ship had deflated since (the day before) yesterday's sinking of a Stasnovan Container ship. Frank sat at the side, next to a carton of oranges, spying on a screen to his left, which received video from the two forward torpedo rooms and aft missile room. Nowadays, the officers could sit somewhere else while the crew were about their work. The hydrophone officer, IT2 Erwin, was suddenly awaken by something on the phones. It was loud and going fast, and Erwin wasted no time informing the Kaleun over. He handed his headphones over to the Kaleun, who listened with an attentive ear. Although he was roughly 39, his hearing was that of a Rabbit's. Wide-eyed and exited, the Kaleun suddenly bounced up and jumped over his maps to the observation periscope.

"Reduce speed to 1/3. Ready tubes 5 and 6. Sound the battle alarm."

The crew got to it, and once again the alarms got on, and men rushed in and out of the control room to their positions. The Kaleun raised the periscopes, straining his eyes to see an absolutely humongous oil tanker, roughly 350,000 tons. It was going rather fast, 21 knots, perhaps it got the news that a submarine were in these waters. The Kaleun punched numbers into his calculator, scanned the GPS and maps, making more calculations; a calculation that was a few degrees off could mean the difference between hitting and missing or the torpedo going just to far to crack the ship in half. He seemed satisfied, and the XO concurred. The slip of paper was passed down the line of weapons officers, who relayed the information to the torpedo-men through means of electronics or sound-powered telephones. Frank took his spot next to the Kaleun, awaited some sort of order. Frank looked through the periscope, then turned to the Kaleun.

"Herr Kaleun, that ship is up to its waterline, which means that..."

The Kaleun interjected, "...which means that its laden with oil. The Stasnovan flag flying on it already approves that we sink that ship, and for a ship that has so much oil aboard, we won't need more than 2 torpedoes to sink it. Anything else, Third officer?"

Frank shook his head, then got back to viewing the charts. That ship was roughly 12 km away, it was a miracle that the weather was clear enough to visually spot it. They were trained in blind firing, but visual approval was always good. Loading of the torpedoes were ready, the weapon officers and guidance-system was ready. The Kaleun viewed the ship through the periscope, the last moments of that poor ship, Frank overheard the Kaleun mutter. The control room fell silent, the Kaleun and XO setting their stopwatches. 4 minutes to impact. The Kaleun held his hand up, the weapons officers stared blankly, waiting for the cue. Finally at exactly 1400 hours, the Kaleun put his hand down, the signal to loose the two torpedoes. Conpressed air shot the two Stingray torpedoes at over 60 knots, and the Kaleun and XO initiated their stopwatches. The XO was in charge of time keeping and the records of everything that happens along the journey.

"40 seconds to impact...32 seconds...25 seconds...21 seconds...14 seconds to impact...7 seconds to impact...5 seconds to impact...3,2,1."

There was a strange silence, the Kaleun still glued to his periscope. Were they duds?, Frank thought. It was ankle-bittingly painful to believe that their work had been wasted that... all of a sudden, the Kaleun jumped with joy. He witnessed the oil tanker instantly explode into pieces as the two torpedoes found their mark. The shock wave soon followed, and the crew were having a long-silent- joyous occasion. The XO recorded down the ship sunk, the measured tonnage, its size, displacement, time of spotting and sinking and etcetera. He was basically a glorified clerk. The Kaleun ordered full ahead flank, made his way north, away from prying Stasnovan naval ships. He didn't need visual confirmation for the sinking; it was already destroyed. Frank could almost feel the man who was sent by the regime to spy on the crew of the Savior writing down notes about the Kaleun and his crew.

Mr. Nikolai Krasnov,

We are aware that Stasnovan merchant ships are currently being targeted by anti-shipping operations conducted by unidentified submarines. This recent development is extremely worrying and it is only natural that we, as allies, approach you and offer our assistance.

If our offer is accepted, we will immediately dispatch 20 of our CMPC-12 Nineveh maritime patrol aircraft to target and destroy enemy submarines, using a combination of conventional submarine detection and LIDAR technology. Targets will be neutralized with torpedoes and, if permitted, M77 Scorpionfish naval influence mines. To avoid possible misfire, I would encourage you to alert your Navy and merchant fleets of our operations. We would also like to inform you that Carlossian military satellites have been moved into position over your northern waters to observe and detect any suspicious activity, using explosion detection equipment to quickly alert our own Office of National Intelligence on the position of the enemy.

Stethanberg, Adampia.

After a few months in dry dock, the ANS Hunley a older nuclear submarine soon being replaced with the new type 97 diesel electric submarine, was resuming the usual patrol. This patrol would take the usual Eastern Course and pass by Stasnov 4 miles off of the territorial waters. A common practice, probably a little more dangerous with the current situation in Stasnov and with what was believed to be relations warming up after the short lived cold war. Yet the Empress still kept her guard up in case something did happen that gave her a reason not to trust Stasnov, her mother told her to never trust a commie or a nazi, both are deemed a disease to humanity.

"All aboard, helm, all ahead slow till we clear the port." Said Captain Lisa Korbin.

"Yes sir," Yelled the helmsman as the old yet tough submarine left.

(A day and a half later)
Southern Coast of Stasnov
Captain Korbin was sitting in her quarters plotting a course to the maintenance base in Valeran being careful to stay out of the territorial water when her first officer walked into her quarters.

"Sir, the winch for the antenna buoy is jammed, we have to surface to send the usual status message." Said Tamya.

"Okay surface, before they wonder about what happened, I am surprised, I thought they replaced that winch along with the ballast pumps and dive valves?" Asked the Captain as she took a sip of tea.

"Apparently it is defective."

"Very well." Said the captain.

The officer walked back into the command room, "surface the sub, set dive planes to 10 degree above bubble, take us up!" Said Tamya.

The pumps came on and began pushing the water out of the valves as the submarine surfaced just out of visual range of the coast in international waters.

"Send the status message."

"Message sent, sir, we got a problem, purge valves 1,2,3, 9, and 10 are jammed, I can't close them."

"Shit, man the cranks we need them shut now." Yelled the officer as she ran to the intercom.

"All hands, we need purge valves 3,9, and 10 manually closed." Said the officer while the captain ran into the command room."

"Sir, we are rapidly discharging our batteries keeping the purge pumps going."

The captain looked over as the lights flickered.

"Send a SOS, give our coordinates." Ordered the captain.

"Sir?"

"You heard me, send them now before we go down."

A SOS was sent just as the antenna submerged.

Code: Select all
EMERGENCY COM---SOS---ORIGIN---ANS HUNLEY ANSS-987
COORDINATES ENCLOSED AND ENCODED STANDARD NAVAL ENIGMA

The SOS was sent to the naval station in Adampia and to a submarine tender returning from resupplying another Adampian submarine 80 miles from the SOS. The ANCAS Serapis, DN-11C. The ship only had two six inch naval guns to fend off small pirate attacks or terrorist attacks, it was mainly designed to service submarines and had a full repair staff along with everything from torpedoes to food.

"Sir, SOS from the Hunley, we are the only ones close to respond, last coordinates were 5.9 miles off of the territorial waters on the southern coast, the message didn't have a actual message it got cut off." Said the radio operator.

"Bring us about, full emergency speed." Said the captain.

"But we aren't a damn warship, we need more than just this old junker."

"That's one of our ships, we are going in, they won't fire on a civilian naval contractor." Said the Captain.

"I hope your right."

The ship turned and began heading over, it would take a half the day to make it as the captain pushed the ship to 22 knots throwing off a large wake. The captain got on the intercom, "we got a distress call from the ANS Hunley off of the Stasnovan coast, all hands to stations, we are going in." The captain lit a cigarette and pulled out his binoculars...

Meanwhile...

"Sir, we are going down main power is failing."

The lights went out then red lights came on as the backup battery bank came online. The captain walked over to see the dive gauge begin to climb, it was limited to 2,500 feet, the design crush depth. She was breathing a little heavy as sweat formed.

"Sonar, how deep is the bottom?" Said the captain.

"3,458 feet from sea-level, 2,258 feet at our current depth."

"Shit." Said the captain as the needle began to move a little quicker.

"Pump out what ballast we can to slow our ascent, I don't care if it damages the tanks in the process, this is survival now." Said the captain.

"2,300 feet and rising." Said the dive officer was the sub began to make loud groans of the sheer stress on the hull.

"We are pegged, plus 2400 and rising."

"Purge the port tank and keep it purged, seal off the conning tower." Ordered the captain.

"But we will lose backup power if we purge the tanks."

"I don't care, seal off the ballast tanks once they are purged." Ordered the captain.

The crew closed the hatch to the conning tower just as several small pinhole leaks formed. The sub began to slow and listed heavily to starboard at 30 degrees pots and pans in the galley slammed onto the steel floor as well as plastic trays clanging on the floor which was enough to wake the dead while unarmed torpedoes in the torpedo room came lose and hit the other side of the compartment just before a bang was felt and the sinking feeling subsided, the gauge needle stopped moving which had stopped at 1058 feet then a ripping and tearing sound was heard as the conning tower collapsed.

"Sir we need to flood the other ballast tanks, if they rupture it would compromise the inner hull."

"Very well, flood them, but slowly."

The submarine groaned even more violently as a response to the very high pressure outside, as the ballast tanks were filled the sub settled on the bottom at a list of only 13 degrees.

"We did it, you helped save us", said the crew.

"No we are still 3 thousand feet down." Said the captain.

"Yes but we aren't dead." Said a happy crew member.

"Yet." Said the captain...

The submarine was suffered severe damage to the starboard ballast tanks and had failed in a few spots since the sub landed on the ballast tank. The situation was bad...

ANCAS Serapis.

"Sir, we are 20 miles out." Said the officer.

"Send a message to Stasnov let them know we are going in to rescue a submarine." Said the Captain.

"But sir, they aren't exactly allies right now."

"Just do it."

Message From Captain Sanders of the ANCAS Serapis

We received a SOS from the ANS Hunley, which was sent 5.9 miles off of your sphere of influence.  It better of not been caused by one of your warships, regardless we coming near your coast to locate and rescue the Hunley.  This is a merchant marine vessel, not a warship.

The message was sent as the ship continued on it's coarse.

Message to the Government of Stasnov
From Empress Hira Miniski

A naval submarine ANS Hunley has sent a SOS just off of your territorial waters, this better not be the work of your navy.  If it wasn't your doing it will be a chance for better cooperation between our two states, the submarine tender Serapis should arrive in the next hour or so to search for the ship.  It's a merchant marine vessel armed with two six inch guns for defensive purposes.  It has the equipment to locate the sub and rescue it.
