Behold...the Region of Sondria!

Greetings, weary traveller! If you have stumbled upon this thread, chances are that you were lured in by the prospect of an active, quality MT/early PMT region. The region of Sondria is currently seeking new-blood to fill its ranks and to take the region in new, uncharted directions! Sondria welcomes roleplayers of any political creed, NS Experience, or background, and seek diversity within our roster. We are looking for good, active roleplayers with a desire to be a part of a rich, vibrant community.

We are looking for cooperative roleplayers, genial people and those who know how to take a joke and have fun. You don't have to write like Stephen King to join, but at the very least, we require proper grammar and the ability to write decent prose. We have an IRC channel (Mibbit link / Server: irc.esper.net, Channel: #Sondria) where you can hang out and chill with the guys, and get the taste of what the region is like.

About Sondria

Sondria has been around on Nation States for close to four years, now, and it has enjoyed its fair share of war, romance and passion! We in Sondria aspire to a greater level of excellence and quality in our work, but also believe in forging a solid community of friends and brothers. We have had our ups and downs through the years, but Sondria has proven itself to be a region that endures. Our esteemed cast of members include several prolific writers and mentors.

We are not like any other region. Sondria, as well as being a prominent role playing region, is a community. When you join Sondria, you don’t just gain admittance to a quality role playing region--you also earn membership in an unshatterable brother-(and sister)hood. Our region is host to communists, fascists and republicans, but in the end, we are united by a common love of history and writing. We are always there for one another.

We are an MT (Modern Tech)/ Early PMT region that uses game-side population stats. We have a rather martial In-character history, and we enjoy a good war every now and then. Still, we do indulge in and enjoy diplomatic and character based RPs as well. Describe your nation as best you can below, in a paragraph or two: Perlaraja is a constitutional monarchy in southeast Sondria, culturally based on Malay and Filipino cultures. They are more economically than politically inclined, only doing things in the world scene for trading and infrastructure reasons. A member-state of the Victorialan Commonwealths, Perlaraja is under the protection and support of the Golden Congress.

Perlaraja also has a liberal outlook in politics, with a parliament working with the king on a day-to-day basis with the purpose of completing the "Kaya Plan" enacted to improve basically every aspect of Perlaraja as a nation. Mostly Pacifistic, its participations in conflicts are very few, save for civil unrest in some islands and the current tensions between the Bayang islands.

Kamchastkia as a political entity was founded by a group of traders who had long ago lost contact with their homeland and settled on the fertile coasts of Kamchastkia in the 4th century, while there was a minor native population they were wiped out either by disease or war--or both. Kamchastkia is a largely rural and undeveloped nation, and extremely unstable due to its lack of natural resources and heavy dependence on imported foods to sustain its rapidly growing population. In the past century, power has shifted hands four separate times, ending with the modern Fourth Kamch Republic, ruled by President-General Simon Denisov, who rose to power via a coup d'etat in the early 90's and has maintained his power through covert totalitarian methods.
Denisov's tactics have led to several instances of unrest, including the short civil war in Kamchastkia between the Communists and the Denisovists, with the Deniosvists prevailing with a continued Communist Insurgency to date. While there has been a spark in productivity under Denisov's leadership dissent has slowly gained momentum throughout the nation, leaving an wary situation throughout city streets and rural farming villages, though in recent Presidential election polls Denisov has lead with 95% of the population intending to vote in his favor reported Kamch State Media.

Why do you think should Sondria accept you?:
I should be accepted into Sondria because I'm dedicated towards putting forward decent roleplay quality, and will be able (in 2 weeks) to apply enough time to this project to make it a mutually beneficial experience for everyone involved.

Can you contribute on a consistent basis?:
Yes, though for the next couple of weeks it will be on alimited scale due to 30 hour work weeks plus school, putting in my two weeks soon.

I am Gristol-Serkonos, the new regional cartographer.

While it is not mandatory, I strongly encourage new nations to have their claims set up in the regional map. This allows players to know where you are in the event that a war might take place. Sondria has a long-standing tradition of military conquest and annexation, with some of the larger nations (most notably Crontor) working several in-character years to expand their territorial reaches. If one wishes to expand, it will be dependent on the player's ability to roleplay. This allows players to improve upon their story-writing skills.

Of course, when RPing an expansion, one would have to expect opposition. Sondria is a region of nations with an aggressive unilateral or multilateral foreign policies with lolhuge militaries and defence budgets far larger than most nations from well-established regions such as Esquarium or Pardes. While we do not allow RL constraints to hamper our creative dreams of establishing large empires, realism is still a vital part of roleplay here. Realism in Sondria ranges from the ability to roleplay large army movements, taking into account every unit in deployment and using them effectively, to character development from nation leaders to the ordinary soldier or civilian.

Despite in-character animosities (and friendships) between nations, out of character, Sondria just a group of friends who met in the internet. Even if you leave the region, you are still welcome to participate in our random OOC discussions in the IRC. Consider joining our IRC first before entering Sondria if you think this region is right for you.

Bubba reb is a nation of contrasts. They value education highly, but dispise "arrogant know it alls full of book sense but no common sense" the nation eagerly explores and uses technology, yet also values simplicity and self sufficient lifestyles that thrive with or without technology.

Many Bubba Rebians, and especially Bubba himself, consider themselves to be "high tech rednecks" that dispise things such as racism, willfull ignorance, and closed minded arrogant people. An intentional persona of the steriotypical "redneck" is often portrayed as a mechanism to discover the real person behind the public mask. They value self defense, and knowledge, but are notorious for hiding their knowledge and education in conversation with outsiders. They are also known to downplay the countries capabilities and level of advancement. For example, Bubba often reffers to his home as his "triplewide trailer with the wheels still on er just in case I decide to move again." When his home is actually a heavily fortified, self sufficient, underground bunker with an above ground fasad that looks like a triplewide trailer.

A nation that has a lot of history and culture it descends from 3 nations: The British Empire, Portugal and Russia as the area that is now Greater Liverpool was a prime target to set up a colony. However they all set up their main town very close to each other in the cove of Liverpool. As more people flooded into the new colonies the 3 independent towns begun to merge with each other, this merging of town also made the merging of cultures which the colonial overloads did not want. This caused them to build a wall which separated each of the 3 towns apart and the 3 empires moved to gain as much as the countrysidee as possible. The 3 nations quickly chased each other to get this landed and this is how it was until the turn of 19th century. As Europe Became under threat from Napoleon and the French empire the European powers looked for fresh recruits in their empire. One nation in particularly called upon every able man to join their army the Portuguese empire. The remaining two empire decided to also create divisions from this landed as they were all fighting the same nation decided to merge all of regiments together and form the "Greater Liverpudlian Brigade". When these men came back from fighting there was a national consciousness to get rid of the wall and form a Greater Liverpudlian nation. Which they did as on the 17th July 1817 the now disbanded "Greater Liverpudlian Brigade" took up their arms and broke down the wall and declared independence from all three empires. A deal was struck 4 days later with the British and Portuguese empires which official recognized the independence of Greater Liverpool.

But that was in past the modern day Greater Liverpool is just as interesting as we are one of a few last remaining absolute Monarchies left in the world with a strong close tie to the Imperador (or emperor) and his family to the nation as them were just like other Greater Liverpudlians before they were their own nation. We are a progressive people who have a strong voice when it comes to Liberalism, Patriotism and even Socialism as we were one of the first governments to allow a socialist representatives of town and counties and even to this day the dominant party in Greater Liverpool is the Patriotic-Socialist party. We also have a proud and strong Military tradition and keep that to the day by having nation conscription for every 18-24 year old in Greater Liverpool. When is come to our geography out nation has large, over shadowing mountains in the west of the country and in the east plains of green and fertile land. This helps our economy as our main exports our Steel, Agricultural, Weapons and Pharmaceuticals mostly owned by the state making goods very cheap because of no V.A.T on goods produced by the state which brings them to a large amount of their economy. Tourism is one of the biggest industries in Greater Liverpool thanks to cheap goods and even cheaper rip-offs thanks to the small amount of copyright laws in the country. Overall Greater Liverpool is very complex history and a even more complex and interesting modern day. The only way to understand it truly is to be in the same region as it.

Are you new to Nationstates? (Nation has population below 1 billion): Well this is a brand new nation I made specifically for Sondria, but Estar has around 5 billion and my first ever nation was founded in 2011.

Describe your nation as best you can below, in a paragraph or two: Esclare was first settled by a large number of exiles from the neighboring kingdoms lead by Laverne Escla in the late 6th century. After struggling with a long period of warring fiefdoms, the Duchy of Corvotiere rose victorious over it's rivals, thus proclaiming the first Kingdom of Esclare and starting a century long period of absolute monarchs.
Since then, Esclare went through several liberal reformations which have resulted in the current system, a constitutional monarchy, that has governed relatively peacefully for the past two hundred years. Nowadays, the Esclarette government has a deliberate rotation of the Progressive and Traditionalist parties that is overseen by the King, excluding all other parties, that pose a threat to the status quo.
Esclare is a barren and mountainous land with dry summers, relatively wet winters, and even wetter springs and autumns. And while lacking in much vegetation beyond grasses or shrubs, Esclare is abundant in mineral resources such as Aluminium, Lead, Copper and others.

Why do you think should Sondria accept you?: During my time on NS, I have been working with lots of different players, where I have taken part in many different RPs. If I had to name one thing that has kept me coming back to the NS forums it's been some of the phenomenal writing I've seen over the years.
I know that Sondrians have made some fantastic RPs, and I was hoping that I could learn from them while simultaneously bringing my own style to the mix.

On a scale from 1-10, what do you think best fits your roleplaying ability?: I'm gonna say 6.

Any other notes you would like to add: Character development is definitely my strong point, and while I haven't participated in any war/nation sized RPs for some time, It feels like a natural progression to focus on that area next so that I become as comfortable using a strategic tone as developing characters .
In fact, I read When Will the Sun Rise? last Christmas, and loved it, which is what has got me thinking about Sondria since then.

No! My previous nation was Coalition State. In total, I’ve been on NS for three years.

Describe your nation as best you can below, in as many aspects as possible:

Oh boy. Well, for an accurate description, I would visit my iiwiki page, but that’s for “Maredoratica Sylva.” But in terms of geography and culture, it’s the same.
Anywho, Sylva is a parliamentary democracy. In terms of population I am rather small (89 million citizens) but have an unusually strong economy (for my size).

My military is small and professional, and focused exclusively on defense. It’s not big enough to effectively defend me in an all out war, so I will probably attempt to find someone to send troops to help me out. I’m big on realism, use RL equipment for my military, like F16/18s, and P3/P8s. The Navy is green water, and not focused on force projection (I have a single carrier).

To be frank, I'm looking more to incorporate my history into the regional canon, so everything here is open to change depending on my geostrategic situation (providing I am accepted)

Current Region: Maredoratica and Casaterra. I’m not happy with my current situation because I can’t decide between either; as such, I feel it best to leave both, and find a new one.

That being said, I’ve been RPing with one group of guys for a very, very long time (since Sylva’s conception) and would hate to leave them. As such, if possible I would like to discuss a region merge. But that’s a discussion for another time.

I’m a fantastic writer (if I do say so myself). I’m also really easy when it comes to chatting on IRC, and once I get on a project, I’m hooked. I’m also very committed to world building alongside RPing.

The Realm of Achesia is an Absolute Monarchy laced with Neo-Feudalism forming a state which has remained fluid with the times but grounded in the principles of the monarchy. With a population of _____ (Haven't decided yet? If it is ok, If you need an answer on this I will decide) , it is a large nation broken into many classes. The current government lead by the Requient Dynasty has been in power for over 983 years since the medieval times, and has weathered the fluid changes of international human society and remained one of the few true monarchy still in power and certifiably the longest. Many reasons have attributed to the Requients hold to power, money, force, vision, and some even say divine. But no matter the challenger- internal or external- the words "Break Not Bend" have held this nation together, the Requients however doing neither with the exception of many broken enemies.

Society within the Realm is a caste system. With the Monarch at the top, followed by his nobles, and then down from there each possible step. It is broken down into levels which is expanded upon later in this factbook, but rarely does anyone rise from level to level. If you are born a commoner, a dishonored outcast, or a lower, you will die at that rank. The state enforces this system very strictly and social rights within are stringent. Communication of a lower caste to a hire one is strictly illegal and is punishable by hard labor. Though these means seem harsh to those on the outside, it has been this way for generations of Achesians. The Requients also ensure that everyone's needs are provided for within the Realm as the subjects of the Realm are the Monarch's children.

The Realm itself is broken up into many political divisions that each answer to the central power of Imperium (The Requients crown lands at the heart of their empire). Each division is ruled by a "Ack" (Ancient Achesian for Lord). Each Ack's family is a dynasty within itself, with power being handed down generation to generation within each of the divisions of the Realm. These dynastic families are vessels to the Requients and show unquestionable loyalty to the Ackular (Emperor). If the do not, their house is wiped out and a new Ack is given the lands to be entrusted to him, his children, and his children's children.

Economics within the Realm is primarily controlled by the state, resources are distributed, used, traded, or stored at the will of the state. Very few commercial ventures are allowed within the Realm but those are heavily taxed in both monetary and portions of the said resource. Resources are allocated to the subjects of the Realm based on societal station and merit. Though no one is looked over completely, save for criminals and outcasts.

Why do you think should Sondria accept you?: Love to RP, like to have allot of fun with the RPs I participate in and I would like to be apart of a region that RPs on a group scale and work with people who like to have fun as well. Are you new to Nationstates? (Nation has population below 1 billion): My first nation was made in October of 2014, I believe. That nation is quickly approaching 1 billion, but is not there just yet.

Describe your nation as best you can below, in a paragraph or two: Bruchet is a small Monarchy, about the size of Luxembourg (I might change this depending on the regional map). If it were to exist IRL, Bruchet would be somewhere near the present-day border of Germany and France (around Alsace). As a result, it is largely a mixture of German and French cultures.

The people of Bruchet are often said to be kind, and are very conservative (to the point where the country is behind scientifically/technologically). However they also do not appreciate the local laws and taxes, and will rise even after small breaks in tradition from the government. Still, the monarchy is firmly in place and is expected to stay for a long time.

Current Region: The Pacific

Why do you think should Sondria accept you?: Sondria has no reason to accept me. I am tired of the massive feeder region I'm currently in and wanted to move to a small-ish region with a map so that I could practice RPing

Can you contribute on a consistent basis?: I've never participated in a NS RP before, so I might be a bit awkward and slow to join at first. Once I know the usual RPers in the region, I think I'll do a bit better.

Psichiko has historically been a very neutral people. One of the first democratic republics of the world, the current state was formed in 1800 when King Ioannis Prasino introduced democratic reforms and a new constitution to the nation. Prior to the formation of the Republic of Psichiko, the Prasinoi family had ruled the kingdom of Salonika. The Kindom of Mykonos was ruled by the Siderás family until the union of the two kingdoms in 1756. The new kingdom was named Psichiko.
Since the formation of the current republic, Psichiko has not been involved in any conflicts, but retains a moderately sized modern military. Because of a history of neutrality and the vigorous Psichikan population, Psichiko has become an economic powerhouse for a country of its size. The modern service centric economy began to emerge in the mid-1900s, resulting in the decline of manufacturing in the country. The most prosperous industries in Psichiko are those of the business, finnancial, information, education and entertainment services.

Why do you think should Sondria accept you?: I love the brand of roleplay nationstates has introduced ro me. I have a great interest in international affairs and geopolitics, and have been a dedicated, fair member of all roleplay regions I have been a part of. I seek to replicate these traits in Sondria in order to generate an enjoyable atmosphere for all Sondrian roleplayers.

Can you contribute on a consistent basis?: Over the Summer it might be on and off, but otherwise yes.

On a scale from 1-10, what do you think best fits your roleplaying ability?: 6-7/10 I think I'm alright, but nationstates is my first RP experience and I'm not sure how good I am.
