I dunno. In all honesty it doesn't appear as if there's great enough appetite for something large scale to occur right now.

Those are some pretty extreme simplifications, but ok! Your point is valuable regardless, the smallest things can trigger something bigger.

Other plans notwithstanding, if the stalemate continues till summer, I could at that point start a resource grab with Olastor (invasion, privateering/piracy etc.), and maybe annoy a couple of other nations.

Hey all, this is Quebec speaking in his #1 puppet, Norrehavn.

As far as background information goes:

• Norrehavn's not yet on the map, but should be bordering Vaugania to Southwest, separated by Zenic on a medium-sized lake, and meeting the Obsidian Sea to the north and northeast. It's a fairly large, but most importantly a long nation.
• The population of Norrehavn is around 41 million people, with the population on steady rise due to immigration and moderately high birth rate on northern part of the country.
• Norrehavn is a nation characterized by a common ethno-cultural Germanic/Slavic heritage and related languages. It comprises the four major regions of Skaggerak, Bothnia, Sápmi and Czechia, which should ICly represent the likes of Denmark, Sweden (with little bit of Finland in it), Norway (largely northern parts, with emphasis on Samis) and Czech lands (Bohemia, Moravia, Czech Silesia).
• The geography of Norrehavn is extremely varied. Notable are the Sápmian fjords, the Scanian Mountains (which stretches from North to the South of the three Scandinavia-like regions), the flat, low areas in Skaggerak, and the . Bothnia has many lakes and moraines, legacies of the ice age, while Czechia's relatively hilly and filled with rivers feeding into two key lakes: Lesser Inland Sea and the one below.
• Climate-wise it varies. Northern part of the nation? I ask you not to go there. Southern part? Temperate and certainly livable. More inland it gets, more freezing and snowy it gets as well.
• The economy of Norrehavn is extremely diverse, primarily fueled by its abundant natural resources in North and manufacturing industries in South, especially in Bohemia. Human resources, led by Skaggerak but otherwise consistently strong, are the key factors behind Norrehavn's economy as well. Agriculture is no longer the key sector of Norrish economy, aside from Skaggerak, but still produces high-quality, abundant food.
• Yes, Norrehavn possesses lots of minerals and oil. However, it applies an economical approach that restricts its use and stores the revenues in its funds, similar to how Norway does it IRL.
• Norrehavn, like Vermark, is a highly academic society. The balance between academic and practical education, when it comes to choices, content and opportunities, is carefully maintained though, as the country strives to continue its extremely low unemployment rate.
• Norrehavn has relatively small but very efficient, high-functioning military forces. Norrish forces combined would have around 500,000 soldiers.
• Speaking of its history, Norrehavn's born out of two major kingdoms. The Monarchy of Norrehavn was founded by Harald the Viking King in the 10th century, making the Norrish Monarchy among the oldest in Rushmore. Originally an elective monarchy, it became hereditary in 1534 under the reigns of Frederik II, the first Norrish monarch under the house of Oldenburg, beginning the Oldenburg Monarchy. Under the Oldenburg Monarchy, Norrehavn experienced its rise to the Rushmori stage, playing a major role in trades due to its strategic position for ports.
  Meanwhile, in what constituted the Czechia, the Kingdom of Bohemia was founded by Franz I, of the Royal House of Havel, in 1437. Bohemia, consisting of craftmakers and farmers, remained peaceful and cultured under the emphasis of soft power.
  Then in 1837, the current nation of Norrehavn was formed through the marriage of two houses, of Margethe II and Jan IV. The monarchy since then was titled 'House of Havel-Oldenburg' and since the country progress accordingly, aside from a time in 1930s when Nazis took over the country, overthrew the nation and invaded its Southern neighbours and Valladares before getting smacked in a huge loss.

Multinational elements and External Powers

• With regards to Quebecois Commonwealth, Norrehavn is probably the #2 member of the 9-member Commonwealth, right after Quebec. Due to its status in the Quebecois Commonwealth, expect the other nations of Quebec to fight in support of Norrehavn, in case they be attacked.
• Royal Kingdom of Quebec's its most important ally, the one whose economy and military requires co-operation to excel. Without it, Norrehavn can still do well, but won't be where it is right now. Other nations of Quebecois Commonwealth are also key partners.
• Vaugania's a key ally and enemy at the same time (think frenemy), whom it has suffered a loss to. Historically they experienced through lots of tensions and it'd show with the way they react towards their ally. That being said, it's a much-needed nation for Norrehavn to survive as well.
• This does not mean that they will just put forward combined military forces of 10 million people. The best Joint Quebecois Commonwealth Forces can mobilise is around 800,000 soldiers, but more can mobilised through using prisoners or possibly POWs. It was last mobilised in Felixian Civil War, where it suffered minor losses but a huge victory in teaching and leading the Felixian Rebels to victory.
• With situation in Pasarga, Prince Jakub of Pasarga's a nephew of current Alexandre IV and Quebecois Emperor Jacques IX. Should the Szarcovo Majistar rebel and threaten the lives of Prince Jakub and the Royal House of Pasarga, full Commonwealth Forces will be mobilised to defend the monarchy.
• Things are not looking too good with Christian State, as the Norrish state is entirely opposed to it. With the state aiming for the elimination of Christian State, especially on the Acadianan Soil where the southern Calanian nation's been brutalised with the huge insurgency led by KKK-turned CS insurgents, the conflict's inevitable between Christian State and Norrehavn.

Flashpoints
I can have multiple potential storylines to work on, with multiple ifs:

• Quebec partners up with Vermark is certainly an option to consider, Norrehavn Quebec's size, economy and Scandinavian-ness. However, the distant between Norrehavn and Vermark is a key concern, unless the Varish companies have been drilling off the shores of Norrehavn, on the sea also bordered by Darmen, Westlands of Valladares and Vaugania. More can be talked about this, but it'd be hard to work on it, I fear.
• Norrehavn possibly invades Vaugania (OOC: more talks can be made through Vaug/Velstaende on FB), to avenge for its losses suffered during the 1939-1945 war. However, due to the absence of Nazi-like forces in Norrehavn, it may not make as much sense as it'd have been back in the day.
• Norrehavn and in turn Quebecois Commonwealth joins the Pasargan Civil War, should it happen, or 2nd Acadianan Civil War (which is more of Quebecois Commonwealth-based war).
• Norrehavn gets invaded by a foreign power, but survives after a long struggle to get the enemies off the country. This scenario would require extensive series of guerrilla warfare.
