The Lion of Babylon Rises
President Ibrahim Izzat al Douri was walking back and forth pondering about how to deal with the Iranian revolutionary agenda that was causing chaos in the Arab Republic of Al Nahar and throughout the Arab world. It seemed as if diplomatic negotiations between Tehran and Baghdad would have at least led to fruitful results however nothing came out of the string of meetings between Al Nahar and Iran in the past decade. It was known among all that Iran had been funding and training insurgent groups within Al Nahar and other Arab nations such as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Lebanon and Yemen. Vice president Tareq Al Bakri showed a detailed map to the president, showing him Iran's slow plan of surrounding Al Nahar. The Houthi militias that took large swathes of territory in Yemen is proving to be a strategic gain for Iran in the gulf of Aden. Iran's private army that it funds in Lebanon, Hezbollah has been threatening friendly politicians and leaders within the Lebanese government and has been accused of even assassinating many. Of course, Damascus is aligned with Iran, therefore Syria is a looming threat to the west of Al Nahar. With a defensive agreement already signed between The Arab Republic of Al Nahar and the Kingdom of Jordan any offensive by Syria would be met with a response from Jordan to the south thus nullifying the Syrian threat. On top of it all, Iran has been de-stabilizing Bahrain and parts Al Nahar in the south for some time now. President Ibrahim Izzat al Douri called upon his best generals to devise a plan to strike Iran in an effort to rise against the menacing force that has been trying to encircle Baghdad for years. The Naharian generals concluded that a war with Iran would be long and brutal however Al Nahar would have the military edge. The Vice president, Tareq Al Bakri traveled to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain to see if a coalition could be formed to strike Iran. The Kingdoms would have none of it, no direct military attack was in there plans, however a Shiekh in Dubai came up with the brilliant idea to end the war by supporting the Iranian opposition known as the MEK(People's Mujahedin of Iran), a left wing, socialist, secular group that would be much better for Middle East politics if installed. High officials of the MEK were contacted and a plan to fund and supply them was devised. In a penthouse in Dubai, over looking the Persian Gulf, the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, the Shiekh of Abu Dhabi and the Head of Intelligence of Al Nahar met with leaders of the Iranian MEK to discuss. The MEK had considerable contacts in Iran and supporters who had access to guns. They would rise if foreign powers came to their aid. Once the forces of Al Nahar crossed into Iran the MEK would rise all over the Iranian cities and conduct insurgency warfare against the Quds and Basij. The King of Saudi Arabia promised to strike against Irans Houthi's allies in Yemen while Egypt would move forces to Jordan to support an Arab Coalition response to a strike from Syria. Al Nahar would take on the Iranian Revolutionary Guard head on. Al Nahar fielded a force consisting of over 600,000 soldiers and 10,000 tanks. At once the largest artillery barrage in modern history commenced from the northern border of Al Nahar to the south near the gulf hitting everything government of Iran. Jets soared from the gulf to hit Iranian installations on the Persian gulf, with some being shot down by SAM missiles. Tens of thousands of troops poured in the south towards Khuzestan including the elite Republican Guard and the 4th armored division. Clashes between the Naharians and the IRGC was sporadic at first as Tehran was caught by surprise. Immediately hundreds of thousands were called by the Ayatollah to wage a Jihad against Al Nahar. The MEK starting hitting targets all over Iran causing considerable annoyance to the regime. Saudi Arabia launched an offensive in Yemen, citing its support for the government, Saudi Forces moved to crush Houthi rebels and Al Qaeda insurgents. Jordan and Egypt had military maneuvers along the Syrian border to halt any strike by Damascus in support of Iran. It is yet to be seen how the larger international community reacts.
