Gallian Commandos running for cover during the Siege of Thanh Bac

With the southern enemies preoccupied, The Gallian Army under the eyes of Lt. Gen Johannes Kluivert took the initiative of increasing the push to the eastern flank. The Gallian 2nd Army, 4th Armored Division and Squads 1, 5, 7, 233 and 322 added to the reinforcing Commonwealth Army to the Lucian and Gallian Paratroopers.

The Next Morning

"From what I heard, The Paratroops are still holding out."

Thanh Bac, February 5, 1926

Seeing this chance to recover from the surprise attack, the commanding officer of the battle made the decision to reinforce the flanks with more of his reserves. Later that morning, under the fires of urban and outskirts warfare, Imperial tanks came rolling in the streets of the city. The battle commander was relieved that they have arrived. He was afraid that he would lose the battle if it weren't for them. As they were told, the tanks fired upon the enemy army, emitting casualties on them.

The Lucian A13 Percival Cruiser Tanks arrive

The Main Army finally arrives on the designated flank. Despite losses, Marshal Villiers managed to fix his army. He had the Royal Artillery Regiment shell Thanh Bac Defenses around the clock. Villiers employed a newer Canon which was far more superior than other Commonwealth Artillery Cannons, the 7.7 Inch Cannon.

Starting first with a preliminary shelling, Villiers wanted to soften the ground for his Armored Corp before a massive Tank Assault. The mix of Lucian, Gallian, Rubrumian, Zanarkiand and Tenebraean Armored Corps formed the attack of the commonwealth forces.

Quenmin, Close to the northern river 1926

While the regular Tradolians and 3000 of the Taeletians were still im the same are had 2000 Taeletians retreated. The cossacks had rode northward and now returned to hit the Rubrumians in their backs. At the same moment arrived the Taeletian airplanes that started to fight the Lucian aircraft in the area. It was clear that the battle was fledging and sometimes were the Lucians prevailing and sometimes the Taeletians. Iason realized, however, that the Lucians and their allies could call for much more reinforcements. This made Iason sending a message to the imperial high command in Hanoi to get reinforcements. For now was it clear that both sides were taking positions and he was sure that he could hold the enemy of for a while, but in time would he be defeated. When the message was sent retreated his 2000 Taeletians to the river banks at the same moment that the Tradolians and other Taeletians enforced their positions, while the cossacks prevented the Lucians and Rubrumians from splitting both forces from eachother.

Hanoi received the message of support and picked out the nearest units to make their plea possible. Seeing that Pham's region is the nearest one possible almost without conflicts, they sent a message to marshal Pham to request support for the staggering Taeletian army. Pham sent out his 25th Corps and the 78th Infantry Division of his 11th Army to assist the Taeletians from his headquarters at the Thu Sinh River. This detachment would include 3 armoured regiments of BT-2 tanks.

The Tenebraean Armored Corps hits the Cossacks from the Rear

After departing from the Beachheads, The Tenebraean Armored Corps formed near the river and tackled the Cossacks attacking the Rubrumians. The 4th and 5th Tenebraean Armored Divisions split from the main formation and went around the other side of the river to relieve the Rubrumians and the Commandos. The Royal Tenebraean Artillery Corps had deployed its 7.7 inch Canons to bombard Cossack Divisions.

On the other side, another Tenebraean Infantry and Armored Corps faced the reinforcements coming from Hanoi. Under the command of Gen. Planees nox Fleuret, He was Tenebrae and Solheim's leading commander and was the most decorated General in the Tenebraean Army and he himself loved Armored Warfare. He ordered 3 Armored Divisions to Engage the Reinforcement from Hanoi while being aided by Infantry. The Corps had the Percival Cruiser Tank to their dispersal, which is also the best Commonwealth Tank fielded.

The situation at Thanh Bac was becoming desperate, as the allied forces were struggling to hold against the Lucian invasion. General Vo concluded that at least a regiment from the I Cavalry Corps would be needed to move immediately to support them. Several regiments had already successfully disembarked, but much of their logistical necessities were still in the process of being unloaded by the veritable army of support personnel and dock workers that had assembled for the task.

Colonel Đỗ Bá Tỵ, commander of the 133rd Cavalry Regiment, was ordered immediately to move his regiment north to confront the enemy, and immediately ordered his operations and logistics staff to make it so. Within hours of the hectic meeting with General Vo, and the flurry of men scampering about to issue order and procure the necessary accoutrements to ready an armor regiment for war, the lead battalion set on the road, thundering along and casting an ominous dust cloud high into to air. As Ty road along in his command vehicle, he hoped that the enemy would see them coming and know that it would spell the end of their brief successes.

It did not take long for them to begin to hear the sounds of battle raging, and the men grew apprehensive. They knew that only a hundred kilometres away their infantry corps was establishing a holding position from which they could initiate an offensive if need be. Cavalrymen by their nature however are the proudest of all service branches and discarded the idea that they would need those lousy ground-pounders. The Lucians would be defeated by To Quoçi steel horses.

As soon as they were within the range of artillery, the heavy artillery battery broke off from the rest of the column and unlimbered. The guns were loaded and ranges calculated using the latest reports offered from their allies at the front. And with that, mighty 155mm GPF-mle guns barked their rage at the Lucian invaders, walking in dozens of shells into their positions ahead of the approaching armor.

At the front of the light were the medium tanks, model T-26s. Two hundred and thirty of these lumbering beasts tore treads down the paths towards the enemy, and began to form into a long line bearing down under the cover of the heavy artillery. Lighter 105mm guns had begun to open up as well as they closed range, giving back the punishment that had been delivered thus far.

In the sky, Vo had also ordered the immediate dispatch of the To Quoçi Air Service to begin flying fighter interdiction and air superiority to clear the skies of Lucian and enemy fighter craft, in preparation for tactical bombers to begin delivering punishment from the air. Ki-10 Bi-planes soared over the rushing armored cavalry regiment and prepared to begin seeking out enemy aircraft, and in the absence of aerial targets to begin delivering punishment to Lucian ground formations, in particular artillery batteries.

The Lucians would be broken, and driven from Quen Minh, and would not be the last foreign invader to be driven from her shores.

The enemy attack surprised the Allied command. But the enemy were in for a surprise courtesy of the Royal Air Force. Several new aircraft had been in production and proved to be far superior to the Lucian Swordfish or the Heavy bombers. In the night, The RAF Bombers made its move around 2100 Hours. The sight of these new heavy bombers would shock the enemy as it carried more payload than a normal heavy bomber.

The devastation over the To Quoc Duc Lines

The Fairey Swordfish Mk I, Now the Fairey Swordfish Mk II

The Swordfish II was designed to carry more fuel and ammunition and instead of the ordinary .303 Machine guns, 4x 20mm Guns were installed, giving it greater firepower and advantage and once more, It's guns were on the wing and the pilot didn't require pulling a trigger and could only fire by a push of a button. It's engine was further upgraded with a John-Jennings Merlin 45 supercharged V12 Engine. The Swordfish II immediately replaced the old Swordfish fighter. The Swordfish II was more than effective than other planes in service thanks to the minds of Al Bhed manufacturers.

The Swordfish II's were placed into combat against Ki-10 biplanes and the crews found it to be very reliable, fast and more maneuverable. The Ki-10's may very well be able to maneuver against Swordfish Is but is outclassed when the Swordfish II arrived. The Swordfish II's gun could also damage light armored vehicles such as Infantry Carriers thanks to the Al-Bhed developed 20mm Gun.

No.s 70, 71, 72 and 73 Squadrons used these Swordfish IIs against the To Quoc Duc Artillery pieces and the results were devastating and poor armored tanks were destroyed in strafing runs. The Swordfish IIs inflicted High damage against enemy targets. Swordfish IIB's were developed to carry bombs and destroy Enemy armored clusters.

Marshal Thach wasn't poorly informed about the situation in Thach Bac and the extreme outskirts in the south. He knows well that the Lucians were exerting greater firepower on his troops and allies. He knows that his troops and allies were getting pummeled down. As such, he sends the XXVII Corps of his 13th Army and two squadrons of fighters of the Quenmin Airpower to better the areas of current situations he's concerned about.

The RRAF had received supplies of the Swordfish II's from the Royal Air Force and had been decided that the RRAF would take part. The RRAF chose the Swordfish IIB's as Air Marshal Jean-Guy Kurasame's plane was to disrupt and cripple Enemy Land Power with the use of the Air Force. He made his move first against the To Quoc Duc and had the Squadrons inflict strafing runs and bombings against Enemy Columns and Artillery Pieces.

The Fighters would take to the skies in the night and raid the enemy with their trousers down. The RRAF, like the RAF also got casualties but not as high as the Enemy. The RRAF were successful in disrupting Enemy Reinforcement columns and preventing two enemy armies from uniting.

On the other hand, The Rubrumians have been developing a new kind of tank. It used the same chassis from the Gallian M3 Medium Tanks. This tank had a 360 degree turret and was a cooperative project between the Al Bhed, Rubrumians, Lucians and the Gallians. They named this tank as the Ram Tank.

Image
The Rubrumian Ram Tank (Left) with a Gallian M3 Medium Tank (Right) in training.

These Ram Tanks were deployed against the To Quoci Steel Horses and whatever they call their army fanatic. The Ram was a shock for the Imperials as well as allies. It had never been seen before in battle. The Ram Tanks proved reliable and sophisticated. It had the same gun as the Percival's 6 pdr gun and was very effective in battle. It's armor proved very well against BT-5s or any other enemy tanks.

Lucky blows from the Lucian Royal Air Force managed to cause significant damage to several To Quoci tanks, but still as the battalions advanced, hundreds of tanks descended upon the enemy lines. As they approached gun range to their targets, infantry positions and armored targets were identified and fired upon with effect in concert with the now directly guided artillery platforms. Supporting infantry mortar platoons also successfully deployed and began firing upon infantry positions, as the To Quoci infantry battalion attached to the Cavalry Regiment advanced under the protection of their light armor battalion.

Heavy bombers, already in the air prior to the To Quoci attack and redirected to engage the new threat, were interdicted by several groups of fighters, while others chose to deal with the MkII Swordfish. The Swordfish was woefully unprepared to deal with the superior To Quoci K-10s, as these had twice the climb ceiling as well as twice the speed of the MkII Swordfish.* Additionally, the Swordfish, being an enormous aircraft, was also an enormous target and the nimble K-10s danced around the slower, bulkier aircraft riddling them with 7.7mm gun bullets before gliding off to the next target.

This is not to say that the To Quocis were wholly unbloodied by the experience. Of the nearly seventy five fighters taking to the sky, Lucian bomber gunners managed to knock twelve out of the sky, while defensive fires from Lucian fighters managed to strike down and additional eight. The results however were unmatched, as additional squadrons were underway to make up for the light losses.

On the ground, the bombers would be punished severely for their mistake, as anti-aircraft platoons spat punishment into the sky in the form of Type 88 75mm towed guns. These hammered away into the sky, giving little promise of survival to the Lucian bomber craft being pursued by the nimble and fast Ki-10s, and the anti-aircraft artillery from the ground. While losses were recorded from both AA and artillery emplacements, these were minor and only minutely changed the punishing fires being belched at the Lucian ground forces.

More Ki-10s would be arriving to replace those in the air, running low on fuel, and would be accompanying and protecting the bomber squadrons. These thirty-three G3Ms, flying low, would each drop nine 200lbs bombs onto the enemy positions and deliver significant morale, if not physical, damage to an enemy at this point unused to such a ferocious and capable attack. While the Lucians would certainly adapt to the new operational environment, the arrival of the To Quoci Imperial Army would force Lucian operational planners to rethink their outlook on the campaign in Quen Minh.

(OOC: I'm happy to supply schematics and charts to demonstrate this is the case

Also: I'm ignoring the Ram Tank. It wasn't developed until 1941 and is out of the time frame. Otherwise, I'm upgrading my T-26s to T-34s.)

A new land. New ambience, new terrain, and a new environment. The troops were excited about this. Landing at the Thien Dai Airstrip and at Xam Dam May in Vickers Victoria airplanes, they felt great splendor when entering the lands of Quenmin. They were welcomed with great enthusiasm and with food from the great countryside.

Ignacio Alfonso Elizondo de Zaragoza felt the same as the troops, although tired from the long flight from her home country to this great new land, starting in the outskirts of Thien Dai. A hardened veteran of the First Europan War, he has quite the finesse that seemed to make him superior than the other troops. Hearing of the draft for the war in Quenmin, he signed up as it was required by the Federation to deploy much troops possible to the troubled land. When he finished eating, he was already prepared to go. In fact, he was the first to finish his food, leaving the commanding staff of the Expeditionary Force quite surprised. Minutes passed and the Expeditionary Force already consumed their supper. The Emperor ordered them to fly out to the camp at Xam Dam May, while some would stay. Ignacio quenched for the decision. Should he stay or should he go? With the Emperor's decision, parts of the Expeditionary Force would go, and it included Ignacio's company. The troops obediently went into their transports and Ignacio was glad, glad that she didn't have to stay in the extravagant capital city.

A few days later, Marshal Villiers was very much informed of the To Quoci or whatever they call themselves of their tactics. He discovered that if ------- --- -------------, They could be able to defeat the enemy. He had also appealed to other Commonwealth Leaders to unite against the newer threat.

He ordered new attacks against To Quoci Enemy Columns with a combination of Armored and Air Attacks. Aware of the Ki-10s, He maintained the use of the Swordfish II's along with the Typhoon Heavy bombers. Tracked Artillery was improvised for use against Enemy Columns. This gave the RAR that ability to relocate quickly with their big guns. He placed a small army near a larger To Quoci Cavalry, Infantry and Armor and engaged them head on. The Artillery deployed on vital areas and bombarded Enemy Artillery Locations reported by Infantry Scouts and Scout Planes.

In the Air, Despite taking losses, the Swordfish IIs maneuvered around the air and were able to inflict casualties on the Ki-10s with support from Percival AA Armored Tanks. Per each Dogfight, He had his mobile AA Guns under the area of dogfighting, causing casualties against the Enemy Air Force. With the Larger Enemy Army engaging the His smaller army, Enemy Artillery being crippled and Enemy Fighters preoccupied, He moved his reserve Air Force of Swordfish IIs against Enemy Positions along with Armored Tank Assaults. The Percival Cruiser Tanks proved to be effective against the Enemy Cavalry Forces. The 5th and 6th Mechanized Infantry followed up closely on armored regiments and worked to deal with both infantry and armor. The 5th and 6th Airborne Division dropped behind enemy lines and disrupted enemy supply lines, telecommunications, artillery and radio stations. The Paratrooper Brigade flanked the rear of the Enemy as Air and Armor assaults attacked head on.

The XXX Corps along with the 75th Armored Division and the 12th Mechanized Independent Brigade encircled around the Larger Enemy Army while the Zanarkian 3rd Armored Division and the Gallian 1st Armored Division engage against the Enemy Cavalry Corps. The Parachute Brigades stagger the supply lines and depots to deprive and starve the enemy of Supplies. The 1st Tenebraean and 2nd Tenebraean Mechanized Infantry added to the encirclement of the To Quocis.

The Royal Marines Commando staged raids against Enemy Airfields and despite presence of Armor and Cavalry in the Area, The Commandos had sufficient equipment against these dangers. The I Rubrumian Corps diverted its 4th Armored Division and The King's Own Rifles of Rubrum to reinforce the commandos as the main attack on the enemy airfields. The RAF conducted Strafing Raids against Airfields and depriving Enemy Air Power. Despite heavy losses, The RAF managed to raze the airfields to the ground and planes burning along with fuel and munition depots.

The 5th Zanarkian Armored Division and the 75th Mechanized Armored Division pincered around the Larger Enemy Force after the XXX Corps and the rest of the Divisions had encircled the Enemy Army in a pocket of resistance. The Royal Artillery Regiment fired against Enemy Resistance under cover of AA guns and Swordfish IIs.

The combined Air Attacks, Armored Warfare, The strafing runs, the Paratrooper and Commando Raids along with Artillery delivered a very staggering and painful blows against the Enemy despite losses. Meanwhile, The Lucis 8th Army along with the VIII Gallian Corps, X Zanarkian Mechanized Corps, The 3rd Parachute Brigade and the III Rubrumian Armored Corps moved past the encircled pocket and engaged further enemy resistance along with Royal Anti Aircraft Regiments covering them. The Swordfish IIs participated against further dogfights with the aid of the AA Regiments and the Commando Raids against the Airfields and Supply Bases and Barracks despite losses to enemy aircraft, which were eventually shot down.

Stables that were used to supply the Enemy Cavalry Corps were strafed and raided. Intensive bombing campaigns against key enemy positions continued as well as destruction of supply and armored depots and telecommunications and radio bases destroyed. The XXX Corps along with some divisions rushed inside the pocket of enemy resistance and took the fight to the Enemy. Enemy Cavalries were spread around attack after attack, inflicting heavy casualties against enemy forces.

While the XXVII Corps is deliberately moving to the second capital of the Empire, the two squadrons sent by Marshal Thach have already reached Thanh Bac. They have seen the battlefields of the siege. They picked out the marks of war on how it heavily inflicted their fellow comrades. As for the pilots, they were about to return the favor. They dropped bombs on the tanks from their bare hands while under fire. Some had even swayed several times so to get no interference from the Lucian anti-air fire below, but it was in vain. Despite losing six of their fourteen aircraft, they were able to disable five tanks and pin down 58 men. With their mission done, they returned to their airstrip, with the besieged Imperial troops cheering for them on the battlefield.

Tat castle 1926, 10 hours after the Taeletian siege started

The castle was showing big damage as the Taeletian artillery was almost non-stop shooting. The defending Vionnans had attacked the artillery a few times but they'd been repealed by Demetrios and his forces. Demetrios sent a message to marshal Pham to ask him when he would join the attack on the castle.

Close to the river 1926

Iason sent half of his troopers that he had gathered at the river with many tanks to attack the Tenebraean Infantry and Armored Corps, that was attacking the imperial forces, in the back. In this way did Iason hope to destroy that Corps while he would make the imperials able to join the battle. Iaso commanded half of the cossacks to attack the infantry divisions that were attacking the Krydolians and Taeletians. As the cossacks are hrd targets for the tanks and other big guns can the other group of cossacks keep them busy without losing many soldiers. They would be assisted by the other 1000 Taeletians that were at the river and by the airplanes.

Battle of Biên Giới Nóng

Date: January 22, 1926 - 11:00 PM

Going as planned, the Liberationist forces (Quen Tu soldiers) attacked the Imperial border camp named Biên Giới Nóng. The base camp was located east and near the Ha Binh River. Su Cong Nguyen, the battle commander, instructed the use of canoes in order to flank the Imperials on their right flank. As the Quen Tu readied themselves in their starting positions, Su gave the order to open fire on the camp. It was almost for naught when Imperial lookouts shouted of their incoming and fired a few shots of their own. Once shots were exchanged, the Quen Tu advanced further into the camp. A few minutes later, the flanking army on the river came into the picture of the battle. Time passed by and the Imperials retreated leaving behind their equipment for the Quen Tu to take certainty of. Su's battle was a success.

Battle of Noi Cham

Date: January 22, 1926 - 11:20 PM

Twenty minutes later, Ton Quang, as instructed by Su Cong Nguyen, launched his own offensive at the Imperial occupied village grounds of Noi Cham. His army caught them by surprise, which left the Imperials distraught. Although the Imperials suffered moderate casualties, they were still able to keep on the fight before retreating.

Date: January 23 - February 1, 1926

Under the fierce efforts of the Quen Tu, the rebels have been able to gain more ground against the Imperials. Their use of guerilla tactics and the wise implementation of conventional warfare has brought the upper hand to the Liberationists, leaving the Imperials in a somewhat difficult position. The rebels were able to augment their fighting force, thanks to some left-behind Imperial equipment and East Europan support.

Close to the bay of Tat, 1926

When the message about the Vionnan approach reached Demetrios did he immidiately start to call for help. The following telegrams were sent:

To: The imperial high command of Quenmin.
From: General Demetrios Valaxes.

We want to warn you of the fact that a big army of 46.000 Vionnans is approaching Tat Castle. We want to ask you for further reinforcements so we can end this front for once and for all.

To: The oligarchal council of Taelete.
From: στρατηγός Demetrios Valaxes.

I want to inform you of a worse-getting situation in Quenmin. The new forces are both under threat. In the north is the army of στρατηγός Elassos under Lucian attack while my army is threatened by a well-armed and trained Vionnan army that is almost 4 times as big as our force. In the name of both myself and στρατηγός Elassos do I request further aid to continue the war.

To: στρατηγός Demetrios Valaxes
From: The oligarchal council of Taelete.

After long deliberation has the council decided that this foreign conflict is not worth more public effort. Taelete has spent enough to this war and we won't give you further help. Let it be clear that the army of στρατηγός Trefellos does a good job while you and στρατηγός Elassos seem to fail. We want to make clear that we've decided to stop the military aid until you show good progress.

When Demetrios saw this message was he getting worried about his career. If he would fail in his conquest would it be a stain on the honour of his own honour and that of his family. To prevent this from happening did he decide to use his family's powerful militia. 5000 of the 10000 household guards of the Valaxes family were called under arms and prepared to go to Quenmin. With the use of his family's giant riches did Demetrios reinforce this army with the folowing mercenaries: 3000 Dolian cossacks and 2000 infantrymen from Dolgorod. He ordered to get them into Quenmin in 5 days. When they would have arrived would they need one or two more days to reach him and his army.

To slow the Vionnans and to conquer Tat decided to move his army from the sea. In this way could his forces attack Tat castle while the Vionnan fleet couldn't attack the Taeletean army. His army was now in such a position that the Vionnans had to defeat marshal Pham to reach the Taeletean army. This made it possible for Demetrios to continue his attacks n the castle without fear of a direc attack from the Vionnans. Demetrios also sent 2000 cossacks to attack the supply lines of the Vionnans. Because the cossacks were very fast would it be hard to engage them in battle but they could on their side swiftly attack the supply lines. Another way that Demetrios used to slow the Vionnans was an attack of his airplanes to destruct the infrastructure that the Vionnans needed to reach Tat castle. The Taeletean planes would destroy as many bridges and roads on the Vionnan path as possible.

In order to defeat the Vionnan fleet were 25% of the Taeletian planes and a small artillery positioned at a strong position on the coast from where they could hit the fleet without being hit themselves. In the meanwhile was the Taeletean fleet in Quenmin cosing in on Tat bay to attack the Vionnan fleet in the back. They sent message to the imperial high fleet command to ask for imperial support in the attack on sea.

To: Admiral Mac Duc Giang, Commander of the Eastern Fleet
From: Minister of War, Doan Van Kieu

Immediately deploy the Eastern Fleet to come into hostile contact with the Vionnan fleet. The Taeletian fleet heading towards Tat will be assisting you ahead of time. The troop ships of Ainahalean soldiers (28,000) that the Emperor requested must land at Giang Bich, the easternmost village that is further away from Quang Chiem, with an escort of cruisers and torpedo boats.

With the best of luck.

Hearing word that the Expeditionary Corps lead by King Alexander is currently marching to Tat Castle, General Co Manh Huu of the 10th Army of the Fourth Imperial Front telegrammed the commander of northernmost division -- the 77th Division --located at the northwest border of Quang Chiem Province and the 65th Division, the southernmost division of that Tat Castle Front to encounter the enemy to further stymie his plan of reinforcement. He requested that they mobilize now, so to not have any more trouble planted on their heads.

Getting the results as he desires, in addition to crediting the Taeletians for their hard efforts, Co Manh Huu ordered the artillery bombardment to continue inflicting damages upon their once-belonging castle. When his subordinate officers offered him their sincere confirmation, one of them offered him a question.

"What is your intention of this action," he asked.

The answer he got in return was: "bludgeoning the lion is underway. The surprise will come later."

The Western Front of the Central Territories

Despite encountering a few troubles, they managed to do the same effort as those of the Quen Tu. They even got assistance from those of the Quen Tu and of the Quen Nong Da, in battle and advisory measures. The fighting had been hard on them, but with their fighting spirit and great firepower and the help of their Quenminese friends, the East Europans have been able to push the Imperials back.

Dua Dam May

3:14 PM

The 65th and 77th Divisions arrived at the jungles near the village of Dua Dam May, the spot where couriers predict the advancing Vionnan army would be moving towards. They rested in the early hours of the afternoon to recuperate their energy for their night attack. Hours later, with their energy regained, they proceeded to formulate their surprise attack. It felt good that they were ahead of the Vionnans.

February 9, 1926

1:04 AM

The Vionnans slept peacefully under the harmonious ambience of the Quenminese night. They dreamt of their loved ones back home or whatever they like to dream of. Subsequently, like someone waking fast from a nightmare, the Imperial Queminese army staged their attack on the Vionnan encampment.

Vionnan Encampment, 1:08 AM

Corporal Raduman San Gonh pulled up his breeches and fiddled with his belt for a minute before heading back to the campground of the 1st Sepoy Brigade, he nodded to the sentries on picket duty on his way there, sitting down on the stump of a felled tree (The trunk of which was used to help construct the makeshift redoubt that would serve as a fort if the encampment were to be attacked) he swore that he heard a twig snap.
The sentries had obviously heard it too for they had readied their rifles and were standing in a defensive stance, in an instant the camp was transformed into chaos as a mortar shell landed dead in the campfire.

The Sepoys that were ready for battle quickly ran to positions at the redoubt however many did not make it, they were cut down by the heavy fire from the trees. The Sepoys had the advantage in numbers and technology but the Imperials had taken them by surprise and many men were subdued before the main battle had even begun...

King Alexander's Force, 1:13 AM

The scouts stood atop Hill 130 eyeing down the enemy siege force, they had a clever artillery position, yet all air attacks on the ships had been unsuccessful due to the large amount of Vionnan Fighters and AA Guns, it seemed that the Naval Bombers were making an attack on the enemy guns however and had levelled them half to the ground. King Alexander called a meeting of all officers.

"So gentlemen, it seems we have a problem, our ships are not close enough to give us support and the bombers are preoccupied with the enemy artillery. So any ideas?" King Alexander began the meeting.
"We could order the Sepoys back, your grace." Suggested Brigadier Fergusson, "then we'll have more men... Your grace."
"No... We must do this now or we risk loosing the castle... Let me think..." Alexander replied just before it hit him, "A night attack!"
"Your grace?" He got stares from the other men in the room.
"We must quickly form a Vangaurd to attack the enemy siege camp under the cover of darkness!"

Immediately officers in the room burst out with speech...
"My regiment shall lead the attack, your grace!"
"No mine, sir!"
"Trust the 23rd, we'll show 'em!"
King Alexander quickly put a stop to the argument, "Gentlemen, please... Allow me to lead the Forlorn..."

Hill 130, 1:30 AM

King Alexander and the 23rd Foot stood proud before the enemy force King Alexander raised his voice, presumably to deliver one of his pre-battle speeches but what came out was song...
"Soldiers of Vionna, stand defiant and stand strong, know that your commanders stand beside you! Soldiers of Vionna, let-"
"Your grace!" Said a Lieutenant, interrupting the song, "The enemy is preparing for our assault, we should call off the attack."
"No..." Replied Alexander, emotionless.
"But, your grace, hundreds will die!"
Alexander shrugged, still with his blank expression, "Thousands..."

(OOC: Whew, took a while, total Game of Thrones reference at the end)

Tat Castle

1:55 AM

"General Tu is now engaging the relief force heading towards the castle," the courier reported.

"Good, get some rest. I'll get someone to replace you, while I'll get this siege started," replied Co Manh Huu.

"Yes, sir." The courier left for his resting place in the camp.

2:00 AM

With preparations complete, General Co ordered the artillery barrage on the castle from the cannons of the Imperials and of the Taeletians. Successfully capturing the enemy by surprise, his attack force proceeded to move towards the castle. The attack had begun...
