I figure I may as well post my about my master/servant combo.

So, Kyran Mizak. Magus - one of the very few to come out of Myraxia, and used to hiding because of it (the Myraxian government is not overly fond of mages and magic users) - and contender in this Holy Grail War.

Servant - Alyx, called "Tyka-nar". Assassin class:http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Assassin History can be found here http://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=306277. Personality - She is somewhat untrusting of those in power, with the exception of her master, Kyran, due to the fact that she is one of the few people aware of his true nature as a mage. Calm, very rarely gets angry, even in battle. Assassin class, so has the Presence Concealment Ability, at rank A. Her Noble Phantasm takes the form of a dirk, with no known name. All Myraxian legends featuring Alyx contain this dirk, however, and it has become a quintessential part of her. It has a rank of C.
Motivation - wants to atone for the event for which she is now known as Tyka-nar.

Servant - Berserker - Current name unknown but referred to as "Kaily"

Aulathu The Basilisk - Warrior - General of the Basilisk army, marvelous engineer.

Shothoru - Lancer - Legendary general and tactition of the ancient army of wyverns.

Servants are historical figures from myths and legends. Not modern day figures. If Shoturu was some sort of ancient inquisition commander, this would work, but not a modern secret service. Also a secret service commander would not be a lancer, it would be an assassin, but assassin has already been taken.

Also just saying, PLEASE learn the differences between magecraft and magic for the universe of TYPE-MOON. They are A LOT different.

Let me just check my understanding.

So, magecraft is constrained by what science can do. So, a mage could theoretically create fire (as you could do the same by lighting a match) but not, say, teleport?
Whereas magic lacks that constraint.

How completely wrong am I?

It is a lot more complicated than that, but you got the basic principle, even though it isn't entirely true
