Saigon Central Command, Coalition Base, Saigon
"Commence the operation."
The commander said this with a sadistic pleasure, that could only be satisfied in this one way.

Cockpit Of A AC-130 Spectre
"EVERYONE DROP TO THE GROUND!!!"
This was the signal for the pilot to press the 'Deploy Entire Payload' button, releasing 4 oxygen-diesel bombs, and an incendiary bomb, which were specially designed to destroy anything in its path.
Oh, but that was only the beginning! The pilot was the lead pilot of a AC-130 Spectre group. Combined, they dropped 18 oxygen-diesel bombs, 4 incendiary bombs, and one cruise missile.

The ground roared with a great explosive might, as the bombs lit up the entire sky, all the way to India, and east to Beilsburg.

The first bombs hit the roads to Hue, utterly destroying it so completely to the coast, that water started to flood the gap made by the bombs. "That's one hell of an obstacle!" a soldier on the ground said.

The next wave of bombs struck the supposed 'heavy resistance', blowing a big portion of the middle defenses into the ground. This further created a man-made river, made by the first bombs, through the defenses, which happened to be big enough to sail a patrol boat through.

The final wave devastated any of the anti-aircraft equipment on the ground, completely destroying the short and medium-ranged anti-aircraft weapons, along with a radar tower.

Evening/August 25th/2nd Squadron-Strategic Bomber Wing-

Two B-52's flew over the Devontan fleet which was mixed in with other allied vessels at 45,000 Feet, There bomb bay doors opened exposing twenty AGM-86 CALCM's which where aimed at Da Nang A.B., Targeting radar, hangars, and the runway to prevent further aircraft take off. The missiles where all launched with in two minutes. The B-52's where 45 kilometers away from DA Nang.

The five F-14's that attacked the OPFOR forces attacking the Britonic A-10's where once again in action, Flying high above the dogfight the fired another five sidewinders at OPFOR aircraft from only two miles away.

Another flight of F-14's engaged a group of five Mig-21's that had launched from Da Nang A.B that had been spotted on radar by AWACS aircraft kilometers back, The Migs probably had no chance against the tomcats, The tomcats fired five AIM-54 missiles at the Migs, Another five where quickly armed and fired again. Two for each MIG, At 56 kilometers away.

Da Nang Perimeter

With the Greenlight of the invasion of the Da Nang perimeter lit, many hundreds of soldiers begin loading into Chinook helicopters. In the Air, several AH-1 Cobra's will provide air support for the Chinook's that are going to land the troops. Tanks, APC's, Humvee's, and several other vehicles, move into the OPFOR perimeter, and that they will be destroying any resistance that is seen.

Around 30 fully-loaded Chinook's make fast and daring tactical landings, and that they release platoons into the Da Nang Perimeter. Many call the invasion of the Da Nang Perimeter "Judgement Day."

The Servintan forces manning the southern defenses were taken aback by the sudden attack of the enemy but numbering five thousand strong were able to hold the tidlewave of of enemy troops back as they sent panicked request for support and cover to their command. Gregoff was shocked he hadn't expected to have to face all the combined forces of the coalition at the same time,he had planned on facing each one and crushing their forces one by one as he triumphantly rode a tank all the way to Saigon. Those hopes were dashed as he watched a mass of blue pieces moving against his red defensive lines on the map.

Then a call came from his command phone,no one had the number to that phone except....

"This is Yoka" a grow came from the phone
"Glad to hear your alive sir" Gregoff said in disbelief
"Enough with the pleasantrys, your lying through your teeth you dolt"
"umm, uuhhhh" Gregoff was already shocked from the massive assaults but being insulted by his superior officer was just confounding
"be quiet and listen,PULL OUT OF DA NANG"
"WHAT" Gregoff yelled
"You heard me,I've weakened a spot for your forces to evacuate through and the yanks are more obsessed with the darned city than with us"
"pull out" Gregoff tried to make the words seem right in his mid but they weren't

"Yes .... sir" he finally conceded to Yako's command and hung up the phone

Within five hours the Servintan forces began a rolling retreat as they focused all five thousand troops in the Da Nang perimeter attacked the initial battle area to the east. The beginning of the retreat was on.....

On The Da Nang River
"Men, the enemy is retreating. Fortunately for us, they're trapped by that big hole…or should I say, river? Anyways, I want you guys to move onto the other side of the river; they're expected to arrive in 12 minutes.

OOC: The man-made river was created from the bombs mentioned last post.

In the Sea

Around 5 destroyer's off the coast of Da Nang start firing Tomahawk missiles at the city and it's OPFOR holdings, in an effort to surround the current OPFOR forces at the city. At the same time, the HMS Invincible and HMS Ark Royal each deploy 10 Harrier Jets and 8 Buccaneers to Da Nang to give CAS to the ground troops below.

The Da Nang Perimeter

Britonic Invasion Force: 6,000 Soldiers, 20 Challenger Tanks, 30 APC's, 50 SAS Operators, and around 50 Humvee's

Many Britonic soldiers, along with their Coalition friends, start fighting fiercely against Charlie's soldiers. Some Britonic Soldier's die and were extracted from the combat zone, but it doesn't stop the Royal Army and the Royal Marines from pushing further into the Perimeter. Already, many of these Royal soldiers seem confident enough to march all the way to Da Nang, but many may less likely come out alive.

Current losses: 12 soldiers, 3 Humvees

On The Da Nang River
The first corvette, the HMS Halifax, was heavily armed. It was also useful to have, seeing as the Servintian forces were trapped by Britonian forces, the mountainous border, the sea, and the Da Nang River.

Da Nang attack FOB 5:00

'HMCS Merrick, Begin bombardment of targets 1 through 5 at zero hour to support the attack, out'

As the message was sent, another helicopter landed at the makeshift helipad, dropping off more men for the attack. The 'copters weren't leaving either, they were hanging around for the attack. Some were being prepped to carry troops and supplies into the battle, some were being prepped to take casualties out. The noise caused the commanding officer of the attack, Colonel Spector, to convey his briefing of his immediate subordinates inside an M113 IFV.

'The Abrams and 5 M113's with 1st company will set off a minute before the rockets are fired. They should arrive either just before or just after the impact giving them maximum shock capacity' he pointed at the map ahead of him, specifying likely locations for the enemy positions.
'capturing this line should put us on a road straight to the center of Da nang. At that point, we secure the perimiter and get ready to drive straight down that road in Da Nang. Having said that, they won't give up the city easily. There's some pretty fierce air combat occuring above the city, but Britonian A-10's should be able to provide some support along with our own helos and fighters. And don't forget that for really hard targets, the Merrick's sitting off the coast with a full magazine of fuck-off shells just ready to go.

He looked at his watch, zero hour was approaching.

'I'll let you go now, tell your men the plan and remember, this isn't a race. I want as few casualties as possible. Stick to cover, make use of the support and stay with the tanks as much as possible. Abrams are leading the way and remember, there isn't much that can get past an Abrams. Dismissed'.

within half an hour the first assault team was on its way towards the enemy line. As the rockets shrieked overhead, they met their mark and the tanks surged forward. After an incredibly intense period of combat opposition (in which the Abrams received their trial by fire, passing marvelously) seemed to melt away. Thinking the rockets had done their job the Infantry disembarked and stormed the trenches, to find them near deserted aside from the odd wounded or shell shocked solider. Nonetheless, they secured their positons and began searching for enemy positions to neautralize as the main infantry force arrived. As it became clear there was little left to secure, they realized they'd been duped. They'd done a 'Hill 132' as it rapidly became known, and Colonel Spector made a rapid, and bold, change of plan.

'3rd and 4th Companies are too use the helo's to envelop the enemy on the outskirts of Da Nang, 1st Company is to move with the tanks and 2nd company to charge them down, MOVE!'. Another Message was sent to HQ:

Code: Select all
Da Nang southern Defences have collapsed. Commies retreating as fast as they can. Tanks and airborne infantry in pursuit. The Sanchez plan no longer applies as far as we're aware, we're storming the city. Requesting that the indiscrimate use of heavy bomber support comes to an end for fear of Friendly fire. Out'.

Even as the message was going out, Huey's where flying over the advancing, firing tanks to reach their appointed cut off positions.

Bridge of the HMCS Merrick

The huge guns had added a considerable amount to the chaos inside the city. Peter's actually had a morbid curiosity in seeing the impact craters from the round's he'd fired and the damage they'd done. HE was snapped out of his reverie when the message came to halt fire as the enemy was in full retreat. He ordered his crew to start watching the skies. He didn't expect anything mind, the city seemed to be ablaze to him. He didn't thing anything could survive the bombardment he'd just witnessed.

About 60 kilometers west of Hue - 1st Russian-Minh Division
12:30 AM

As Russian men ran through the woods, blue parachutes seemed to darken the skies, and helicopters with massive amounts of troops flew low by the surface to unload their payloads, some even containing a few armored vehicles. The troops looked clearly not of the Great Minh Socialist Fighters, with their attire resembling normal Minh citizen clothes, but with a jungle camouflage reproduced from actual photos of the jungle. Even in close-up situations, some enemies could be fooled, only those with a keen eye could really tell a fully-entrenched and camo'd soldier from the rest of the environment.

As the situation settled down and the forces started to trickle in, the Division Commander Federov called for his communications operators. "You there, comrade!"
"Yes, Kommandeer Federov?"
"Tell Hanoi Field Command that we have successfully landed. Most troops are accounted for, so far. Around 55 armored vehicles have been delivered onto the ground already, and more are starting to come in, 55 more to make a solid 110."
"Da, comrade, it shall be done. I am guessing that is all?"
"Of course, now get to it! We move out soon."
"It appears our officers have something to tell you as well. Our fleet is currently near Chinese territorial waters, after their speedy departure from Vladivostok. Soon, they may even be able to break through enemy seas."
"Good!" said Federov with a large grin on his face, slowly clapping. "This is great news! One step closer to breaking the grip on the Great Minh!"

Meanwhile, a few low-ranked soldiers were mingling in their forward outposts, specifically, 3 soldiers, Private Darkov, Private Chernik, and Efreitor Leizov sat inside a small tent, enjoying a small meal.
Chernik, with a particularly tired look on his face, muttered "If I wanted to stay up this late, I would become a calling agent for those supply companies.. I'm not fit for this."
Efreitor Leizov, with a particularly relaxed look on his face, said "Hey, at least it isn't working all night long, mixing chemicals... Comrades come home with the look of an overworked dog on their face." Darkov, finishing up swallowing a few nutrition pills, sighed. "Well, I wouldn't know, but I can tell you that it is not big pleasure to wake up in the morning with Ushanka on your head, goat on couch and one big mess in the house." Leizov chuckled at him, remembering the days when he was a youth like him. "Goat?! What, did you have a farm party?" said Chernik, bursting into a fit of laughter, joined by Leizov and then Darkov. "Of course, Chernik! There cannot be great celebration without comrade goat! I just hope that we can all get through this war. Family has cabbages and potato to grow!" All 3 thought about back home, with the Russian traditional foods they always ate, filled with flavor. Out in foreign lands, they did not even get half the taste. Food pills were the dominant meal, they had enough nutrition to sustain a man in the field, but often left soldiers psychologically scarred from not eating large plates of food. "Don't worry," said Leizov. "We will win. Sooner or later, the time will come." All 3 worried in their thoughts. Would they actually win? The tide was turning already. Sooner or later, something would have to be done.

On a loudspeaker, suddenly, a booming voice issued an announcement.
"Get your rest for today and prepare for the morning! We move out to relieve Da Nang at dawn!"

Russian Field Command HQ, Hanoi
1:00 AM

Field Commander Rokosov sat in a simply made, but cozy wooden chair. Along with him, was a female aid and a communications officer.
"So, you two are here right now because I want a report on our activities, starting now. Go ahead."
"The 1st division has almost landed, Komandeer, in friendly territory. They have received orders to move out at dawn and prepare themselves for the defense and relief of Da Nang, or if it comes to it, the retaking. In addition, our naval detachment is near Chinese territorial waters and is rapidly approaching to start a breakthrough of Britonian naval forces and their allies." uttered the Comms. officer, relatively quickly but precisely.
"Excellent! Now, Nadya, is your turn!"
"Our Buk systems successfully arrived with the 1st Division. They should prove useful in rendering the air superiority of the Imperialists moot along with our Shilka-Ms, equipped with improved engine systems and brand new guided missile attachments, among other changes. For both, these shall be their first testing in an actual combat situation."
"That is all then?" Both shook their heads, with nothing else to report. "Then you are both dismissed to your regular duties. Those imperialist blyats will feel the bite of the mighty bear."

Operation Hellstorm, the massive aerial bombing and raiding of several major OPFOR positions, will commence by 0500. (time: 0350). The first target will be Da Nang Air Base. OPFOR is using it to commence air raids across the region, and to land more aircraft in it. The Second Target is Da Nang's OPFOR Communication network. It guides raids on both air and land and it keeps Charlie's forces together through radio comm's -we suggest using radar jammer aircraft as well-. The Final target's are major fortifications in Hue, Vinh, Hanoi, Lao Cai, and the Ports of Hai Phong and Hong Gai. Once the aerial strikes are done for, any Marine forces onboard the blockading ships are going to land onto the beaches and proceed to major enemy hot-spots from thereon out.

Remember, airmen, this operation must be precisely started by 0500, so wake up your friends and prepare your aircraft for the massive bombing run. Marines, grab two to six insect repellent can's.

"Incoming torpedoes! 3 in total!"
"Dive! They're probably acoustically homing, aim the sonar at them to see if it confuses their systems!"

With a protesting whine, the engines accelerated to maximum power as the ballast tanks flooded full of the cold salty water. One of the torpedoes exploded close by, shaking the submarine and for a moment, the crew prepared to die. However the tact worked, sending one of the torpedoes streaking out harmlessly towards the fleet. It wasn't enough to fool the last one completely though, and it exploded right next to the engine, killing 2 sailors and knocking the 3rd into the side of the hull.

"Those are definitely hostile ships. Fire the torpedoes!"
"Firing!"

With a whiz, 6 533cm torpedoes flew out of the submarine and towards the fleet.

Over 500 troops, 10 tanks and 5 assorted supply trucks and APCs were being loaded onto 50 transport aircraft parked on the hastily built strip in the middle of the jungle. They would take-off, parachute down onto the border of OPFOR and BLUFOR territory and fight the enemy. Then, if they were lucky, they would survive to fight another day. If not, well we all know what happen's then.......

Vinh Airbase, 400 kilometres north of Da Nang

General Anisimov looked on from the control tower as a massive An-22 airlifter touched down on the roughly paved runway of Vinh Airbase, even from so far away, he could faintly hear the squealing of the aircraft's tires as they made contact with the earth. Over the past week, hundreds of cargo flights carried thousands of soldiers and hundreds of vehicles to this very airbase, in preparation for the renewed socialist offensive upon the cities of Hue and Da Nang. This An-22 was the last cargo flight into Vinh, and now, both the 4th Rifle Division and the 12th Armoured Cavalry Divisions were stationed in Vinh, and would be combat ready within days.

Inside the Da Nang perimeter
The escape of the five thousand southern defensive troops was in full swing as they mined the areas they had once stood guard over, this was only to slow the enemy's advance northward or their attempts at chasing the Servintan forces as they fled.In attempts to lighten their loads and speed up their retreat many troops abandoned the heavy machineguns and missiles that could not be easily carried.Kolonel Gregoff was still reluctant to completely remove his forces from the Da Nang and had his reserve forces move north to defend the Thu Bo'n river that sat directly south of the airbase. Three thousand reserves were moving north as five thousand frontline troops flooded the eastern perimeter battle site.Through the fire and flames Gregoffs forces retreated under enemy fire and began to add their numbers to the battle at the perimeter, soon they would break the enemy's lines.....

Casualtys from the fall of the southern defenses - 562 dead, 500 surrenderd

The Thu Bo'n river
Three thousand Servintans, thats all that had been left to defend Da Nang. They were under the command of Magor Lukov who had been despised by Gregoff from the day he had come under his command. They dug expedient trenches and haphazardly placed mines along the roads not hoping for kills but hoping for time, time that could save or doom them if help couldn't be mustered.

Thu Bo'n river
The Three thousand troops of Magor Lukov continued their ad-hoc defense of the Thu Bo'n river, they were moving as fast as they could in their race against the clock. The enemy was fast approaching and bolstered by the retreat of the southern defense line, they were intent on taking the airbase and Da Nang in one fell swoop. But not if Lukov had anything to say about it, he was not resigned to his fate to die on this river front. He was determined to show that he could do what Gregoff had been to cowardly to do before,he would hold the line and he would stop the yanks dead in their tracks. Engineers were ordered to destroy all bridges that crossed the river and to mine the eastern end of it to prevent a flanking maneuver by the BULEFOR troops. What was left of the Machine gunners and RPG troops situated themselves at the shallowest points of the river to prevent infantry or tanks from crossing. Thankfully the shrinking of the perimeter provided an advantage against enemy aircraft as they were now draw in range of the stationary AA positions that had been deployed earlier in the war. While the airbase had been devastated by the missile attack it was being repaired to accept a rough welcome to troop transports that braved the perimeter to deliver support for the beleaguered forces.

"Comrades, today we stand on the brink of the abyss that is the capitalist war machine"
"It seeks to defeat us, the brave sons of the Arch-Leader and to drag this poor defenseless nation to its knees as a servant to its whims"
"But I say NO, They will not deprive these people of their equality, they will not make them slaves to the almighty dollar"
"Not while a single Servintan stands in their path, not while our brother nations stand beside us to protect the helpless"
"We will hold back this tide of greed and we WILL push them back to the seas, were they will drowned in sorrow for their crimes"
"TODAY WE STAND AND DELIVER THE FIRST BLOW THAT WILL MAKE THE ARCH-LEADERS DREAM A REALITY"
"A WORLD FREE OF IMPERIALISM,UNITED BY SOCALISTIC BROTHERHOOD"
"FIGHT AND WIN COMRADS,FIGHT AND WIN!!!!"

Magor Lukovs radio broadcast to the defenders of Da Nagn

Northern perimeter of Da Nang
The armored assault on the northern perimeter was going well, no troops had been sighted yet and the armored force was well on their way to piercing the blockade and making an open avenue for fresh troops and supplies from the north.

Southern Da Nang 7:00

As the Huey's flew other enemy positions, they began taking not inconsiderable small arms fire from the retreating Servintians which inflicting some casualties, however the real fight began once they touched down and began to set up holding positions on the main roads. Fighting was intense, with both sides taking casualties. Plenty of Servintians managed to run the gauntlet of machine gun fire however, getting behind their positions.

'Da Nang FOB, Da Nang FOB, This is Captain Mullins of 3rd company, Requesting immediate Evac. It's Like we're taking on the entire Servintian army back here!'

In the pause before the FOB sent their response, the sounds of a machine gun firing one way and bullets flying back the other way were clearly auidible over the radio.

'...errrr Request denied Captain Mullins. Armour support is inbound and ...errr due for imminent arrival on your position. Hold tight over;

Mullins was shocked that his request was denied. But within seconds, he saw the reason.

The 10 Abrams escorting 1st company were pelting down the road, shrugging off anti-infantry mines like they were nothing and firing rounds incessantly at the retreating troops ahead of them. Any servintians who by that point had not ran past 3rd and 4th companys positons were now almost totally cut off. The tanks stopped outside the house which contained captain mullins and hailed him on the radio.

'Captain Mullins? This is commander Jerome of the 5th armoured company. We're sorry about the delay, they'd put down a few AT mines that took out the tracks on one of the tanks. We're running low on ammo for the big guns so we've been told to park up here and wait for a resupply. The cheiftans will be coming through in a minute and I'm told the airforce will be putting on a show in a minute so just sit back and enjoy the fireworks'.

As he said it the high pitched whine of the Phantoms jet engines became auidible and before long entire streets ahead of them were aflame. Not too long afterwards, the Chieftains arrived to escort 1st company as they continued to hunt down the retreating Servintians

Casualties:50 Killed, 75 wounded
Da Nang 7:15

The Chieftans were advancing down the central road, suffering two tanks out of action to AT mines, but only minutes before they arrived at the bridges that would take them across the river they heard a tremendous roar as those same bridges were destroyed. Major Clemence, the officer in command of the chieftain tanks, swore audibly as he saw plumes of smoke enter the air on the horizon where he knew the river must be. The enemy knew they were coming and they'd gotten ready in time. He had hoped to be driving his tanks down the air base runway by midday. That was clearly not to be the case.

Minutes later they came within sight of the river, and quickly an anti tank rocket slammed into one of the lead tanks, causing it to explode dramatically. Clemence immediately ordered his tanks back out of sight of the river and (even though he had no right too) ordered 1st company to disembark and take up positions in the houses lining the street. Almost as quickly he was on the radio to HQ

'Da Nang FOB, enemy is dug in across the river between us and the airbase, I've lost one tank to accurate rocket fire and the bridges have been destroyed. Request artillery and air strikes on the opposite side of the river, over'

He swore again. The bloody commies had snatched (a kind of) victory from the jaws of defeat. Now they'd face the consequences.

The consequences began to arrive only a couple of minutes later, with the now familar sound of rockets flying towards their destination on the other side of the river. A few minutes after that, the echo of the HMCS Merrick's guns could be heard as its 15 inch guns fired towards the enemy positions. Clemence ordered the tank crews to batten down the hatches and the infantry to take cover inside. It was about to get loud.

Peters looked through his binoculars at the burning city. They were on the brink of victory now, his guns would ensure that victory. He felt the ship roar and shake as another 6 rounds flew towards their destination.

He turned to the bridge behind him. 'Fire again'

August 26, 1882/8:00 Pm/7th Infantry Division/Da Nang/Thu Bo'n River-

The 7th Infantry had quickly broke threw the enemy lines faster then expected due to the break of the southern lines. The casualties where very light compared to the casualties on the Servintan side, Mainly due to there armor and air support. The troops where also well trained and seemed to be better equipped. The casualties taken where only 34 killed and 62 wounded with the loss of two Land Rover Sr Three's and one heavily damaged M2 Bradley.

The small agile Kiowa helicopters and a few advance elements had already reported a mass retreat of enemy forces and what seemed to be the construction of trenches on the north side of the Bo'n River and minor placement of a assortment of mines, Although a exact count could not be verified mainly because of the threat of stationary AA guns, Although longer range missiles and jet aircraft could handle them. Not to mention artillery.

As more troops made it to the river from the mechanized and regular infantry brigades a order not to cross was given rather the troops where suppose to engage the enemy from the south side of the river till midnight when the attack would be launched. The soldiers focused in massive artillery and mortar fire on Servintan positions across the river trying to hamper enemy efforts to build there trenches and place minds. While Bradley IFV's, Abrams, and Scorpion vehicles easily engaged the enemy forces with there main guns ranging from 25mm auto cannons to 120mm smoothbore guns, Although still in the range of RPG's the crews new there effectiveness from ranges across river would be hampered and just staying slightly on the move would probably be enough not to get hit, Thsi fire was enough to remove swaps of enemy from a small beach head. The armored vehicles where not the only things engaging enemy troops, Infantrymen also engaged in fast gunfights with enemy troops trying to construct trenches across the river, M16A2's, M249's, and even M2 Browning's mounted on the Land Rovers fired on troops across the river from mainly buildings and tall grass, At long distances of at least 200 to 300 yards. Snipers and marksmen also engaged enemy forces from even farther. All the troops had no problems with it being dark as they where equipped with night vision equipment including the vehicles. The enemy would be trying to dig trenches in the dark... Not to mention it would take days to make effective trenches and good planning for effective mine laying, Not to mention the counter to trench warfare was mobilized warfare which brought an end to that.

As shallow area's where being plotted out, They where hit with artillery fire, small arms, and struck by high flying F-16's that didn't have to worry about the AA guns. Other F-16's also pounded Servintan positions with guided bombs, Including cluster munitions and Maverick Missiles, Although AA guns where also engaged.

This was all coupled by allied troops who where also pounding enemy positions on the north bank and even a ship. One Air mobile brigade was being deployed around the area too, But would be dropped off behind friendly lines and participate in the attack at midnight if the Servintans where not already destroyed. Five AH-64's whith night vision where ordered to attack the enemies to the north and they did so, The new enemy fire would most likely be less effective do to the night, Engaging with rockets and there chain guns, but still staying on the friendly side.

High above the Thu Bo'n River

Around 4 Avro Vulcan's, guarded by 2 Torpedo fighter's, fly high above the side of the Thu Bo'n river that the Servitan's are on. Once the greenlight was given, the Vulcan's dropped half of their bomb bay-load onto the area where most of the Servitan troops are located. After that is done, the Vulcan's would head for Da Nang to drop the rest of their HE bombs.

Thu Bo'n river line
The Three thousand troops of the Thu Bo'n river line fought to keep the enemy at bay from their trenches on the northern slopes of the riverbank. Encouraged by their commanders inspiring words they were prepared to stand any attack that came their way,Cressageland tanks were kept at bay by their RPG fire that was ranged to keep the southern shores clear, machine gunners had runners moving ammunition up and down behind the slopes to avoid the accurate sniper fire that had been plaguing their infantry. The AA positions were moved every few hours to avoid targeting by the enemy aircraft and artillery every once and a while being moved up to the river berm to give a few hours of relief from the helicopter assaults.

Behind the line troops did their best to dig tank traps where ever a shallow area was found, their efforts at fortification continued as they prayed for relief forces to arrive. But as more bombs dropped and their trenches became deeper and deeper, they wondered if the holes they dug were to become their graves....

Casualtys from the bombings and attacks: 200 dead 100 wounded

Da Nang Airbase
A small force of one hundred Servintan Spetznaz were combat dropped into the patched-up airfield and were met with cheers and joy as they reported to Lukov. He had requested these men as a special gamble to combat the ranged attacks of the enemy who stood poised on the other side of the river, their harsh demeanors and special skills were going to be very useful in the following day. Within a few minutes he bid them farewell and sent them to the western tip if the city

The northern perimeter
To the far north the Tank assault had proven successful in opening a small unguarded channel in the Northern perimeter for reinforcements to flow through, five hundred men who had been watching the northern enemy forces began to move through this small unnoticed gap and headed to reinforce their stranded comrades.

Somewhere in the eastern Vietnam forest
Meanwhile the escaped Forces of Gregoff and Yoka were rallying their forces in the depths of the Eastern jungles. Tired and run ragged by their battle to break out from the perimeter they needed a days rest and resupply by the local guerrilla forces that had guided them through the treacherous terrain.

Near the Same location

"SAS CO's DIARY"

"It is Day 4 of the crisis, and this bleeding-hot Jungle that I've been living in with my friends is starting to become home. We are currently in the secret in the Jungles of either the OPFOR or BLUFOR forces, and that our assignment is to use the very strong vines to silently and stealthily go through the Jungle without getting intruded by hostiles. So far, the only news we've got from M16's codebreakers is that there is a rally force in the OPFOR territory, and that there is a supply line that is connecting the rally forces to logistics back up North. Our objective is to silently kill off this force and to make sure that this supply line gets crippled.

A squad of 32 elite SAS Operators, blending in with the jungle environment with their complete camo on -including on face and on their guns-, and silently swing on the Jungle Vines. When six of the SAS Operators climb onto two tree's next to a trail, hiding behind bushes and seeing several Servintan troops on a patrol, the SAS Operators load their carbon-body bows -with poison arrows- and then they begin ambushing the smaller detachment.

When the OPFOR detachment silently gets killed, their bodies will be dragged into a nearby anthill, and that the SAS Operators will continue to silently advance through the jungle, remaining great stealth. Once the day is done, the SAS Platoon will sleep in canopy's on the tree's.

The Skies above Da Nang

Upon recieving the news that the Da Nang airfield had been recaptured by OPFOR, Chief Air Marshal Ivenenko immediately ordered 3 An-26 cargo planes be prepared to deliver reinforcements and supplies to the beleaguered Servintan troops.

The An-26's were escorted by 5 Mig-23 fighters, but the expected enemy fighter resistance never came. As they neared the battered airfield, the three cargo planes entered steep dives and released flares, to defend themselves against MANPADS and AA guns, the first aircraft landed safely, it immediately taxied clear of the runway and the 40 troops it was carrying began to disembark. The second aircraft followed the same procedure, unloading its troops as well. The third An-26 pulled out of its dive and made a rough landing on an even rougher runway, blowing one of its tires in the process.

As the first two craft took off again, the damaged plane was pulled aside for repairs. The 120-strong Kazirstani force, commanded by Major Nikolai Bokalev, set off toward the city.

Around 50 kilometers west from Da Nang

As Soviet tanks rolled through the woods, spearheaded by LT 12 tanks which ignored most of the terrain in it's path, with 4 tracks and the ring shape doing the job. It was supported by T-51 "Rhino" tanks following it and trucks filled with soldiers. Some soldiers even travelled on the rear of the tanks, allowing for shooting while advancing. Commissars rallied the troops and increased their morale while shouting propaganda and inspiring them to fight. In total, around 9,000 soldiers were approaching the Thu Bo'n River, and 19 soldiers were already lost from stray fire, and triple that were wounded. 1 single truck was lost from a mine, accounting for 5 deaths and 7 injuries. Soon, they met their first resistance, some BLUFOR soldiers and began to open fire with submachine guns and assault rifles into the jungle.

In a radio link communications officers were able to establish to Servintan troops, they gave them great news. "Soviet troops are incoming to assist you in a break-out off your encirclement and to take back Da Nang! We will be incoming from the West, so hold off for support!" After this message, was a large string of propaganda, occasionally interrupted by precise numberings on the amount of forces coming to help.

High in the sky, was the beginning of a swarm of aircraft heading to hopefully destroy a few BLUFOR bombers and aircraft should they decide to attack and give their air superiority a challenge. Coming from Hue Airbase, they were just half a dozen kilometers from the front line.
"Shmel-1 is in! Report in, Shmel squad."
Followed by this, everyone up to 7 reported in. 3 of these were BICh-26M interceptors, fast, small, and able to reach a large flight ceiling, the other 4 being brand new MiG-29 fighters, with trained pilots inside since it has been never tested in actual combat before. It should make for a match to fighters of the BLUFOR.

Also, the Russian fleet is close to the Great Minh, awaiting for the order to attack from the Stavka. Plans are to cut through the forces that threaten the Northern Minh forces, and allow for OPFOR allies to gain a standing in the seas.

Da Nang Airfield

D. Flight:
8 A-10 II Warthogs
8 Harrier Escorts

"D" Flight from the 192th Royal Air Attack Wing, with an attack requested by the Royal Air Attack Command, heads for Da Nang Airfield, armed-to-the-teeth, and ready to do a round of extremely devastating Airstrikes. The leader of the D. Flight, Lt. Col. Eric "Nutcracker" Miles, leads the attack with his A-10 Warthog, with probably the most terrifying nose-art (an extremely mad shark nose-art near the GAU-8 cannon)

Once the Flight got near striking distance to the Air base, the flight breaks formation, and then the Warthogs start scrambling and shooting up targets, mostly with their extremely devastating GAU-8 -AKA tank buster- Gatling Gun cannons. To add to the destruction, the A-10's would dive bomb onto several targets and shoot hydras at aircraft on the ground. Harriers in the air provide protection for the slow, yet tough A-10's, and that the enemy will most likely do significant damage to the airfield and it's units.

Near the GRF's forces

A Platoon of 21 hidden and stealth SAS Operators see the Soviet convoy ahead. Before the Soviet Convoy reached their location, one of the SAS Operator's, an engineer, checked the booby trap's -Two trees that fall by trip wire, buried C4, large box of "Chocolates -inside the chocolates are hidden, extremely toxic chemicals-", trip wire trap (for infantry) that makes men fall into a large hole full of deadly insects, and a huge net trap- to see if they are going to fully work to their best.

The SAS Operators also take out their bow's with poisonous arrows, and that some hide behind the Jungle bushes, while others climb to covered parts of the tree's, all ready to engage the enemy in dead stealth.

The spy squad, led by Sergeant Liu Tran, was silent as they walked with their eyes downturned. Mud upon their faces, clothes ripped. They were the eyes and ears of the Anarcho Capitalist Militia of Vietnam. They saw all and heard all, and right now, they could see and hear the battle at Da Nang.

Soldiers didn't frequently question refugees, particularly downtrodden, unarmed ones. They were able to quietly access areas without looking in any way suspicious. Simply civilians. They quietly took down troop numbers, firepower, and victories, then moved on.

Spy squads such as these were everywhere in Vietnam. The ACMV was always watching. They collected information, then used it to their advantage, particularly on the black market. Drugs, arms, food, luxuries, everything. If there was a shortage, they smuggled the goods in. They made money and kept their mouths shut, at least until now.

The war was reaching a head and they knew it. The Master knew it. Their time of reckoning was near.

ACMV Base, Son La Province

The Master surveyed the map with interest. The battle for Da Nang raged on. And his troops would soon be taking a part in it, although only a very small one. He would send a platoon of snipers and munitions experts down there, altogether about 40 troops, and see what they could do.

They would travel by river boat, like the contraband the ACMV smuggled so frequently. Hidden in secret compartments, they would be dropped off near Da Nang, and from there they would complete the mission. They would stay hidden, and not make any sort of attention attracting action until they completed the mission,

The Master quietly drank some wine. The only thing he ever liked about the imperialists was their taste in alcohol.

108th Mechanised Battalion, MINHFOR - Five Kilometres South of the Thu Bồn River
The column of Korongolese armoured fighting vehicles had halted five kilometres south of the Thu Bồn. Before going into battle, Lieutenant Colonel Igi Jonang wished to have one final discussion with his officers. “Captain Maur has received a number of communications indicating that the enemy is heavily entrenched on the north side of the river.” He shouted over the thunder of the battle five kilometres to the north as he stood on top of his Chieftain Mk 3 main battle tank tank. His officers, standing on the road below, listened carefully to his words. “Coalition airstrikes have weakened the enemy forces defending Đà Nẵng, but hostile anti-aircraft fire has limited their effectiveness. We will face heavy enemy resistance and we will suffer casualties, there is no way around it. However, it is my hope that we will be able to utilise superior tactics and equipment to achieve a complete victory.” He explained, he refused to be dishonest to his men. “Now, you were all made aware of the plan earlier. Are there any questions?” He asked. One of his officers, the commander of an infantry platoon, raised his hand in the air. Jonang looked at the man and nodded.

“Sir, should we really be…” Lieutenant Itut Turuzeng paused as a Blackburn Buccaneer of the Royal Naval Service roared overhead at low altitude. Nine aircraft operating from the Aurani were about to initiate a bombing run against the enemy combatants on the north side of the river. Each one was armed with two AS 37 Martel anti-radiation missiles and two 1000 lb general purpose bombs. “As I was saying, should we really be putting our lives on the line to satisfy a colonial power? The Lerin Islands have been illegally occupied for more than a century by another imperialist western nation. Should we not be supporting No Ben Cao? Bani Korongo.” He said, criticising the government’s decision to support Great Britonia. ‘Bani Korongo’, unite Korongo, was a popular catchphrase used by more radical Korongolese citizens who wanted to retake the Lerin Islands by force.

Lieutenant Colonel Jonang sighed. “We are not fighting to defend colonialism in South East Asia. We are fighting to defend against a far more deadly threat that has been slowly spreading across Asia since the start of the twentieth century. If Great Minh falls to No Ben Cao, the rest of region will fall to his ideological allies. Where will they turn their sights next? Australia? Indonesia? New Korongo” Jonang paused for a few moments. “We are fighting to defend our homeland, whether you recognise it or not. Do you understand that, Lieutenant?” He asked, Lieutenant Turuzeng quickly nodded his head. “Good, because I would have to remove you from the field if you did not. Gentlemen, do not think about the politics of this war while on the battlefield. Only think about the task at hand, retaking Đà Nẵng. Now, are there anymore questions?” None of the other officers under his command had a question. “Very well, we shall begin the attack. Good luck to you all.” He said as his men. A series of loud booms could be heard in the distance as the Buccaneer crews released their bombs onto the enemy positions. His officers saluted back and then rushed off to their units.

The site where Lieutenant Colonel Jonang intended to cross the river was two kilometres west of the main road where a smaller river joined the Thu Bồn on the north side. Maps of the area indicated that this point was shallow enough for his men to wade across, and the terrain on the south side of the river was uneven enough for his tanks to move into hull-down positions. The attack began with a simple smokescreen. The eight M106A1 mortar carriers under Jonang’s command, now positioned around two kilometres south of the river, fired several salvos of smoke shells among the enemy positions on the north side of the river. As the smoke prevented the enemy from observing the south side of the river, the sixteen of the twenty four Chieftain Mk 3 main battle tanks and six of the FV101 Scorpion armoured reconnaissance vehicles rolled into hull down positions on the south side of the river. At the same time, the two hundred of the 108th Mechanised Battalion’s three hundred infantry disembarked from their armoured personnel carriers further behind the line and then rushed forward to the Chieftains and Scorpions. As the smoke began to dissipate, the final order to attack was given.

The crews of the Chieftains and Scorpions opened fire with everything they had as the enemy positions became visible, even the commanders of the Chieftain’s decided to expose themselves to provide additional fire support, and the two hundred-strong infantry force began crossing the river. The gunners of the Chieftain tanks utilised their high-explosive squash-head ammunition to great effect against the enemy defences, while the gunners of the Scorpions used more conventional 76 millimetre high explosive shells. Gunners on board both vehicles had access to 7.62 millimetre machine gun, which they used against any hostile soldiers they saw exposed, and the commanders on board each Chieftain also had a 7.62 millimetre machine gun at their disposal. Tracers darted back and forth across the river. The mortar carriers laid smokescreens down to the west and east of the crossing point, preventing hostile personnel upriver or downriver from laying down additional fire against the exposed Korongolese soldiers, and then started firing high explosive shells on the rear of the enemy’s defences in an effort to discourage reinforcement.

Rally point Delta somewhere in the southeastern jungle
The line was in shambles after the grueling day of bombardment, men were dragged away from the trenches screaming from their probably mortal wounds by medics who had long ago ran out of antiseptics.Snipers who had been loners and stalkers before their tour in Asia, had become skilled in their dealings of death and nightmares upon the enemy troops.Machine guns that had once littered the ground with brass had become almost silent except for the occasional burst to keep the enemy's infantry from probing the positions for lack of ammunition. The situation had become dire as the troops moral had been worn down by the constant attacks from air land and sea, it looked as if the world would crash down upon them...

"What have I done" Kolonel Gregoff whispered after another shot of Svodka, a radio was playing in the background
"You doomed three thousand souls,it happens allot in this mans army" Field-Marshall Yoka said as he continued plotting out troop movements on the map.
"I..,I couldn't let them...just..." he poured another glass of the fiery drink

Then a loud static screech came from the radio, startling everyone in the room, making Gregoff throw his vodka into the air and causing a sleeping adjutant to fall out of his chair from fright.

The radios that had played the same Servintan patriotic songs over and over again for so long came to life with a new sound, the sound of relief. The OPFOR forces of The Grand Russian Federation,Kazirstan,Huliereming, and other nations who supported an independent Great Minh were assaulting the enemy from all sides. There was rejoice from among the Servintan troops as Kazirstani planes flew overhead and G.R.F troops marched in to support the ragged lines.

The battle for Da Nang was far from over....

The mouth of the Thu Bo'n river
Their gear had been checked and rechecked by the ever scrutinizing eyes of the task forces leader,Kaptain Pivok. He searched for flaws in every filter of their bulky re-breathers,for rust on their Magnetic shaped charges, and for loose straps on their swim gear. This was a man who wore a scar across his left eye as a reminder of the day he had gone to war with faulty gear.To his satisfaction every man had perfectly assembled and prepared their body's and weapons for the task ahead of them.

After a few minutes the squad of commandos he had sent to find a transport arrived off the shore in a captured sampan that was large enough to hold twenty men.He bid the rest of his force farewell and swam out to join the group that would carry out the final leg of the mission. They rowed as fast as they could to reduce their time in the treacherous sea and arrived at the marker point ten miles out. From there fifteen of the Servintan spacial forces best swimmers dove into the waves and swam underwater to their target.

Pivok looked out to the darkening ocean and smiled,19 miles off the coast was an enemy ship and he was going to see that ship sink.
