Dawn of Revolution [INVITE ONLY/MT/OOC]

Postby Ontorisa » Mon Aug 11, 2014 1:13 pm

"The Corridor", Near Colberder, Ontorisa Nexus
1925 Hours
107th Koloonia Jalaväerügement 'The Watchers', 2nd Battalion, 4th Company, 1st Platoon, 2nd Squadron, 1st Team, Corporal Syderle Heysalike

The Corridor was a fortification near the bustling city of Colberder. Located on the beautiful Gesoalipe River and flanked by acres of jungle, the Corridor served as a training ground or a garrison military base for the troubled colony of Ontorisa Nexus. No, Ontorisa was not an empire or an imperialist, but an expansionist. Ontorisa Nexus was one of the first ever colonies of Ontorisa and it was also the most rebellious. Now, today, things were to change.

Heysalike sat on top of a stool inside of his company's barracks cleaning out his 6.5x45 DES CLZ 4 Assault Rifle. He was humming to himself, feeling good about today. With the lack of calls coming in from his regiment's operational area, there was supposed to be a platoon versus platoon rugby game later. Only thing their captain asked was that everyone cleaned up their barracks quickly before 2 PM sharp. What were they? Four? Heysalike looked up at the clock above the doorway. The analog clock read 12:09. His bunkmate, Private First Class Pavorb Sersasne, was busy sweeping under the bunks and under the tables. The room itself was cozy, small with two stools, a desk, two closets, one for each of them, and a window looking outside. Outside was the 2nd Company, doing drill on the square. Hilarious Heysalike thought to himself as he looked outside at a couple of the soldiers being screamed at by the drill sergeant.

"Syderle," Sersasne spoke up as he stood up from sweeping. "Are we almost done?"

"Just about, I finished cleaning your rifle and I'm almost done mine." Heysalike replied, looking back down at his CLZ 4.

Just as Heysalike began putting the assault rifle back together, sirens erupted outside. Then Heysalike heard an explosion, then another, then another and finally outside where the 2nd Company were training, an explosion erupted right on top of them, spewing blood, limbs and organs all around the drill square.

"Holy shit!" Sersasne looked outside before looking for his rifle. "Are the ONIE launching an attack?!"

"Clearly!" Heysalike reached behind him and grabbed Sersasne's CLZ 4 and tossed it to him.

Sersasne caught it and cocked the bolt on the side of it before opening his closet and starting to put on his combat vest. Heysalike did likewise and strapped on his PPE-62 Combat Helmet before stepping into the hallway. The 4th Company was rapidly mobilizing, their training from the ORSV soldiers kicking in at an amazing speed as the company began to run over to one of the armouries. Inside, they grabbed magazines, fragmentation grenades, smoke grenades, flash bangs and many more. Heysalike himself grabbed four magazines of 6.5x45mm DES rounds. Running outside, a gun fight had already begun, with two soldiers lying dead at the gates and three more prone, occasionally standing up to return fire.

"4th Company! Delta! Form up in improv teams and push back these insurgents!" Their captain shouted as most of the company began finding cover. "You guys still want that rugby game right?!"

Just then, an explosion rocked the gate where the defence operated by the three men were. They were vaporized in a cloud of red mist. Heysalike looked at this in shock and horror. Since when did the independence insurgents have access to explosive equipment like this? Regardless, the 107th was expected to push them back. An armoured vehicle had pushed right through the gate and was clearly one of the insurgent's only armoured vehicles. It was a Soviet-built BMP-1, and it was coming in guns blazing. A few of the 4th's soldiers who were caught in the open were immediately wasted by the vehicle. Heysalike watched one of his comrades hit the dirt, gurgling occasionally before stopping and going limp.

"AT! Where's the AT?!"

"Lieu's down! Damn it!"

"Ceysia! Push your team upwards!"

"Where the hell is the AT?! That BMP's destroyin' us!"

Heysalike frantically looked around, looking for an anti-tank rocket launcher, or something to get rid of the BMP as it took another life. Insurgent infantry began to pour through the gate and a firefight broke out, the 107th soldiers quickly putting down a couple of the insurgents before they even got to cover. Staying behind a concrete barrier, Heysalike began to move back to the armoury, hoping to find something that could destroy the BMP there. He was in luck as he entered the armoury. There was about 6 Projectile Firing Anti-Tank 86mm Rocket Launchers all forgotten by the 4th as they had rushed out. Taking one of the launchers and grabbing two 86mm rockets, Heysalike sprinted back outside and ducking back into cover. Loading a rocket into the launcher, he looked over, then brought the launcher over, aimed it at the BMP's left track and fired. The rocket did the work as it smashed into the track and broke it, immobilizing the vehicle. The crew, knowing that they were prone to another hit, were beginning to bail out when Heysalike hit the BMP again with a second rocket, managing a hit on the side of the BMP. The soldiers who were near that side were killed by the explosion and shrapnel. The insurgents, knowing better than to engage in an infantry fight, withdrew, quickly. But it was a Pyrrhic victory for the 107th. For killing two dozen insurgents and destroying a BMP, they had lost at least a company worth of soldiers. That was the 2nd Company, who were caught in the open during the fight, most of them killed by the mortar strikes.

Standing up and dropping the launcher, Heysalike looked around at the dead bodies of insurgents and his comrades, his brothers-in-arms, his friends. Among them, was his best friend and roommate, Private First Class Pavorb Sersasne.

BLUFOR

Ontorisan Koloonia Relvajõudude (OKR) - The Ontorisan Koloonia Relvajõudude or Ontorisan Colonial Armed Forces is an organization that is a branch of the ORSV that is strictly confined to fighting on Ontorisan colonies and may not participate overseas. Regardless of this, the OKR had proved itself during multiple independence revolutions to be well-trained and professional despite its lack of experience fighting conventional forces. As well, the OKR is a volunteer force of colonists who wish to protect themselves or earn a few Eckels without having to work that hard. This volunteer only force has hindered the OKR to grow into what it was supposed to be; a colonial force of at least 3 million combat-ready soldiers. Instead, commanders have to work with a little over 1.5 million soldiers.

Ontorisan Koloniaal Miilits (OKM) - The Ontorisan Koloniaal Miilits or Ontorisan Colonial Militia is a militia-style military grouped formed after the Thyme War of 2004 where ORSV soldiers had to be deployed to Ontorisa Nexus in order to assist OKR soldiers in fighting the insurgents. The OKM was not formed by the ORSV but by simple farmers and workers who wanted help the OKR in ending the violence that has prevented Ontorisa Nexus from receiving its independence from Ontorisa. Poorly armed, poorly trained but big in numbers and high in morale, the OKM functions as a counter-insurgent force, skirmishing regularly against the independence insurgents.

Ontorisan Relvastatud Sõjaväelaste Vahendusel (ORSV) - The Ontorisan Relvastatud Sõjaväelaste Vahendusel or Ontorisan Armed Military Forces is the main fighting force of the Fascist Dominion of Ontorisa. The ORSV was originally deployed on Ontorisa Nexus acting as a garrison, with two regiments of soldiers. These two regiments suffered immense fighting during the 1993 Nexus Uprising, the 1999 2nd Nexus Uprising and the 2004 3rd Nexus Uprising or the Thyme War. Since then, the ORSV had been pulling out slowly, allowing for the formation of the OKR in 1995. Being the premier fighting force and extremely well trained and equipped, the ORSV has countless experiences fighting both conventional and insurgent forces.

OPFOR

Ontorisa Nexus Iseseisvus Eesmine (ONIE) - The Ontorisa Nexus Iseseisvus Eesmine or Ontorisa Nexus Independence Front is a Pro-Independence Insurgent Group operating in Ontorisa Nexus, specifically the East and Central-East side of the island. The ONIE is the largest and oldest insurgent group operating on Ontorisa Nexus, with an estimated force of about 160,000 troops. However, with these numbers comes a lack of ammunition, weapons, supplies and training as the ONIE suffers the highest amount of casualties when engaging in conflict. This does not make it any less of a threat as it has numerous successful raids and battles against both the OKR and the OKM. ONIE is also careful to avoid engaging ORSV forces as they are quite aware of the ORSV's power.

Vabastusorganisatsiooni ja Vabaduse Armee (VVA) - The Vabastusorganisatsiooni ja Vabaduse Armee or Liberation and Freedom Army is a Pro-Independence and Liberal Insurgent Group operating in Ontorisa Nexus, specifically the Central part of the island. The VVA consists of veteran ONIE insurgents who had moved into the central lowlands and defected OKR soldiers. This makes the VVA small yet extremely well trained and equipped with both OKR and Black Market weapons. Its standing force is about 6,000 men, all of them hardcore die hards for the cause.

Saar Kodu Vabastusorganisatsiooni Leegioni (SKVL) - The Saar Kodu Vabastusorganisatsiooni Leegioni or Island Home Liberation Legion is a Pro-Independence Insurgent Group operating in Ontorisa Nexus, specifically the West and Central-West part of the Island. The SKVL operates in the Western highlands, and constantly harasses any OKR or OKM soldiers who patrol there. The SKVL is the youngest of the four insurgent groups, rarely engaging in open conflict and relying on speed, stealth and lightning fast strikes to gain power. However, it is larger than the VVA, with around 10,700 men. Most of these men are poorly equipped and poorly trained, thus, the SKVL cannot use sheer numbers to obtain their goals.

Punane Vennad kohta Saar (PVS) - The Punane Vennad kohta Saar or Red Brothers of the Island is a Pro-Independence and Far Left Political Insurgent Group operating in Ontorisa Nexus on all coasts. The PVS was formed shortly after the Thyme War of 2004 where the destabilization of Ontorisa Nexus led to the formation of many political insurgent groups. One of them being the PVS. The PVS, unlike the other insurgent groups, is mostly focused towards conventional warfare rather than irregular warfare. This means that the PVS is well organized and is equipped with standard equipment and vehicles. As well, Askosa, Wesjacka and Dermintras have all supplied the PVS with equipment, supplies and vehicles to combat the OKR and the OKM. As well, the PVS is also hostile to the VVA, whom the PVS considers to be "sub-human" due to the VVA's political beliefs. The PVS has around 9,000 soldiers, all of them armed and trained and formed into 6 battalions of 1,500 men each.

INDFOR

Mersayis Hõimu Vabadussõja Partei (MHVP) - The Mersayis Hõimu Vabadussõja Partei or Mersayis Tribe Independence War Party is an insurgent group that mostly consists of Mersayis natives, one of the two tribes that inhabited Ontorisa Nexus pre-colonization. The MHVP was recently formed, around the same time the PVS was. The MHVP has an emphasis on both irregular and conventional warfare, having two battalions of 1,500 men dedicated to irregular warfare and three dedicated to conventional warfare. In total, the MHVP has around 7,500 soldiers and most of them are equipped. What the MHVP lacks is training and dedication to independence. Instead of attacking the OKR and the OKM, the MHVP attacks their ancient tribal rivals, the Eshaki.

Eshaki Iseseisvus Eesmine (EIE) - The Eshaki Iseseisvus Eesmine or Eshaki Independence Front is an insurgent group that mostly consists of Eshaki natives, one of the two tribes that inhabited Ontorisa Nexus pre-colonization. The EIE was, again, recently formed, shortly after the MHVP was. The EIE has an irregular-conventional warfare method, similar to the MHVP with three battalions of 1,500 men dedicated to irregular warfare and another three battalions for conventional warfare. In total, the EIE has the same strength as the PVS, 9,000 men. The EIE, like the MHVP, lacks training and dedication, constantly fighting the MHVP instead of fighting the OKR or the OKM.

Great! Btw R&G, I recommend a flexible Infantry-Light Vehicle-Air ORBAT since Ontorisa Nexus' terrain is highly unsuitable for tanks.

Optimizing for the terrain. Are there any real "open" areas, such as deforested or grassland?

Yep, the lowlands. Most of the lowlands are grassy fields like in the picture I posted, with small patches of trees. Basically, if you'll be deploying armoured regiments, they should combat the VVS and avoid heading to the West or East, otherwise they'll easily get decimated there.

No. This is the CLZ 4.

It's an Ontorisan-built rifle that was petitioned to become the next assault rifle of the ORSV but was shutdown by its competition, the Maszar Xecthros (MX) Rifle due to the MX's flexibility, variants and low recoil. However, the CLZ 4 is built for the Sunset Dawn Combat Operations Paramilitary Group and the OKR. The OKR also manufactures it under the arms company Klioces Firearms Inc. but in small quantities.

Compared to the MX, the CLZ 4 has better accuracy but a lower rate of fire, high recoil, lower stopping power and has been known to jam.

I tend to not use ground troops, due to the fact that my army is only mobilized on times of war. I, assuming I am able to join, will be using mainly naval and air assets.

Air assets are good, but you won't find that much to bombard with a navy.

RBG represent! :P

Neutral (peacekeeping), but doing it for the BLUFOR government.

Anyways:

1. What's the actual scale of conflict? Following my re-organization of ORBAT there's no way we can send say a few hundred thousand.

2. Is that really tropical rainforest? D: That's like our worst climate type. Oh well, gotta make do. Though, got any places slightly colder? Mountains are fine.

3. What I'll mainly be doing is humanitarian work, protecting civilians etc. But rebels that get in the way will be mowed down.

1. Mostly small scale skirmishes between BLUFOR and OPFOR. The INDFOR factions are busy beating each other senseless in the highlands. Nothing big, yet.

2. Yep. There are some high points in the highlands that drop the temperature from 38 degrees Celsius to 18 degrees Celsius.

3. Fine by me.

And would 5000 be enough for our deployment?
