Kletoischka Square September 19, 1941

With the verge of war going on throughout the world and the economic effect on Anqoraknia's economy. The Socialist Assembly of Anqoraknia creates the Treaty of Jadarang (Later known as the Allies United). Which signed by the leaders of the Gujiyan Isles, E. Aushanit, Annopol and Soverith too help induce peace and aid to each other economically. The treaty states that the five countries be granted freedom of the movement of trade and finance throughout each one's country and that any citizen may be free to go through these countries without passport. The Allies United will have the island of Jadarang too be used as a peaceful territory where meetings and decisions on world events will take place. Each country is advised to build an embassy. The Allion Dollar will be the new currency shared by the 5 countries. The rule of the multi-national territory is that no military equipment be used in proximity of 200km around the island. If so it is an act of war. The main goal for the AU is neutrality among this chaos.

(Other news in Anqoraknia is that East Aushanit allows Anqoraknia to build an Embassy named Anqor in the northern part of E. Aushanit, the city will be a center for trade, commerce, and an area for Anqoraknian goods to be transported between the two nations more efficently.)

November 3rd, 1939

Chancellor Tirpitz rides in the back seat of his personal car with Sturmwehr General Hans Priefert. The General is the official liaison between the arms manufactures and the government. They are headed to the Rhynegesellhause (Rhyne Warehouse) which is a testing ground jointly owned by Sondheim Munitions and Bohr Weapon Works. Priefert, who cannot stand the silence, strikes up a conversation.

"I think you will be quite pleased with the weapons that we have to show you today sir. The weapons companies have been pushing their research departments hard, and they have made several nice advancements."

"I do hope your right general, we need all of the advantages we can get. Our agreement with the Dekartans has facilitated a great transfer of knowledge I trust?"

"Yes Chancellor, we have been collaborating closely with the Dekartans. However as of late, due to the absence of a reply to your letter, we have almost stopped our cooperation with them. They are no longer allowed into our test facilities. I would have asked your opinion on the matter sir, however I felt that a decision must be made quickly, in the event that Dekarta did side with Acro."

"That is understandable general. I commend you for taking charge of the situation, perhaps you have saved Reichsland from sharing its technology with a future enemy. So what do you have to show me today Hans?"

At that time the car slowed and began to turn into a gated entrance.

"Well Mein Kanzler, let the creations speak for themselves. It appears that we have arrived."

30 minutes later...

The Chancellor, General Priefert, and representatives of both Bohr and Sondheim walked out into a large open courtyard. Out in the middle of the yard were two large objects draped covered in cloth. There was also a smaller object on a table that was also obscured by a covering cloth. One of the representatives from Sondheim spoke up first. "Mein Kanzler, please allow me to show you our newest development first. I am the chief engineer of Sondheim, and after collaborating with Goethe Energy Works, we have created a new type of fuse for anti-aircraft, sea mines, mortar, and artillery shells. Its known as the proximity fuse, and instead of requiring a direct hit in order for the munition to detonate, it now must only be within a certain distance in order for detonation of the shell.

It will prove very important and effective in anti-air weaponry. Mortar and artillery shells will also be able to be set for airbursts now, which is where the shell detonates in mid air, throwing its shrapnel everywhere. It will be deadly against enemy infantry. The initial price of production is rather steep, but hopefully as we continue to refine the process of building these fuses, the price will decline sharply."

The Chancellor responded "excellent work. You should take pride in what you have created here. I will see to it that you and your team receive a medal for your dedication." He then turned to Priefert and said "Arrange acquisition contracts for every branch of the military. They will all be able to make good use of this."

General Priefert responded "Yes Mein Kanzler, as you wish. Now let us proceed..."

The entourage of men walked over to the 2nd cloth covered object. A man stepped forward and stepped up on a small ladder that had been placed beside it. Taking hold of the cloth he said "Without further delay, allow me to present to you one of our newest tanks, the Panzer III!

Image
Armor

The Panzer III Ausf. has 30 millimetres (1.18 in) of homogenous steel armor on the front, sides and rear and a second 50-millimeter (1.97 in) layer of face-hardened steel applied to the front and rear hull, as well as an additional layer of 20 millimeter (0.79 in) of armor on the front hull and turret. This additional frontal armor gave the Panzer III frontal protection from most anti-tank guns at all but close ranges. The sides were still vulnerable to many enemy weapons including anti-tank rifles at close ranges.

Armament

The Panzer III was intended to serve as an anti-infantry and support role; in the initial design stage a 50-millimetre (1.97 in) cannon was specified. However, the infantry at the time were being equipped with the 37-millimetre (1.46 in) PaK 36, and it was thought that in the interest of standardization the tanks should carry the same armament. As a compromise, the turret ring was made large enough to accommodate a 50-millimetre (1.97 in) cannon should a future upgrade be required. This single decision would later assure the Panzer III a prolonged life in the Landser Army.
The Panzer III has 7.92-millimetre (0.31 in) Maschinengewehr 34 machine guns mounted coaxially with the main gun, and a similar weapon in a hull mount.

Mobility

This Panzer is powered by the 300 PS (221 kW), 12-cylinder Maybach HL 120 TRM engine. Top speed varies, depending on the transmission and weight, but is around 40 km/h (25 mph). The range is generally around 155 km (96 mi).

The man continued "It boasts much greater durability and firepower than the Panzer II. It is a medium tank that was developed to work in tandem with its new big brother, the Panzer IV "Jaguar". " He then threw his hand up as if to signal someone across the large expanse. A signal is exactly what it was, for the sound of a low rumble soon echoed across the yard, starting off as if a distant thunder. It steadily grew louder and a large object soon appeared in the distance. As the great machine rumbled up to the area, it gave off an impressive presence. The man spoke once again "Gentlemen, I give you the Panzer IV."
Image
Armor

It features 50 mm (1.97 in) single-plate armor on the turret and hull, and side armor of 30 mm (1.18 in). The weight of the vehicle is 22.3 tonnes (24.6 short tons), which required a corresponding modification of track width from 380 to 400 mm (14.96 to 15.75 in) to reduce ground pressure. The wider tracks also facilitates the fitting of ice sprags, and the rear idler wheel and front sprocket have also been modified from their original design. It also has a 30-millimetre (1.18 in) face-hardened appliqué steel plate bolted to the glacis—in total, frontal armor is 80 mm (3.15 in) thick.

Armament

This Panzer is fitted with the 75-millimetre (2.95 in) KwK 40 L/43. When firing an armor-piercing shell, the gun's muzzle velocity is 990 m/s (3,250 ft/s). The gun is mounted with a single-chamber, ball-shaped muzzle brake, which provides just under 50% of the recoil system's braking ability. Firing the Panzergranate 39, the KwK 40 L/43 can penetrate 3.35 in. of steel armor at a range of 1,830 m (6,000 ft). A 7.92 mm (0.31 in) MG 34 machine gun is mounted coaxially with the main gun in the turret, while a second machine gun of the same type is mounted in the front plate of the hull.

Mobility

This Panzer has a powerful Maybach HL 150TR, and the new SSG 75 transmission, with six forward gears and one reverse gear. This allows for a top speed of 30 mph, and a range of 68 miles.

Chancellor Tirpitz found himself grinning at the sight of these two new machines. He could not wait until they seen actual combat and proved their might to the world. He liberally bestowed praise upon the engineers, for even though his ideologies were twisted and sadistic, he was still a kind man to those he approved of. He listened to the men continue to talk among themselves, discussing minutia that did not interest him. He was ready to see what the third object was, and his patience grew thin rather quickly. Finally one of the men must have noticed Tirpitz's impatient glance cast upon the other machine because he hastily changed the subject to the final piece.

Another one of the men stepped forward and began to speak about the necessity of anti-air defenses, and that with the development of the proximity fuse the machine they had before them would be even deadlier. The cover was quickly removed and it revealed a fearsome looking creation.

Image

The other man continued with his speech, going into details about how they had taken a Panzer IV chassis and turned it into an armored anti-air flak turret. As the man droned onward, the Chancellor found it increasingly harder for him to pay attention. He had the strange feeling that he needed to return to his office for some unknown reason. He decided to indulge his senses and made an effort to quickly wrap up the exhibition. He profusely thanked the men once more and told them all that their work would not go unrewarded. He then told General Priefert that he had the authority to award acquisition and production contracts for everything that he had been shown. After the formal adieus had been bidden, the Chancellor gave the order that he was ready to return to the Reichshalle.

As he rode back through the streets he could not shake the feeling that something rather good awaited him back at his quarters...

Kejserliga Herrgård, Westergren, Nordlig Soverit

The Imperial Manor was further fortified today. A bunker was built beneath the building itself, and many defenses were planted around it. It was virtually impenetrable. Not even a tank could get close enough to do good damage to the building itself. It would have to get past 70 armed bunkers, 100 pillboxes, and 56 anti-armor/anti-aircraft emplacements.

Feeling safer than ever, Corentin Guiraud relaxed in his chair, looking out the window that overlooked the city of Westergren. To the right was the clocktower which would serve as a siren tower if and when something bad came along. Even at the establishment of the Treaty of Jadarang, Guiraud ordered that everyone coming in and out of Soverithian ports be checked thoroughly before being given the permission to enter or exit. People with questionable backgrounds were refused entry into Soverith.

Though standing neutral in the current war, heavily armed patrols made rounds in every city in Soverith, no matter if they were large or small. The number of armoured vehicles in the nation continued to rise as well, as if they were ready for a battle to come. It would, but not now. At the moment, the Prime Minister was itching to find a way to reclaim Tuaador, as its government, hidden and desperate had begun to plead for help.
He had told them to wait due to the circumstances and the consequences of declaring war. Guiraud did not want the Tuaadorean Council to lose trust in him, so he told them to wait. Eventually they would find a way to liberate their homeland.

Today, yet another set of designs were shown to the Prime Minister. He rejected most of them, but happily accepted two which seemed to please him the most.

Image

Pansarvärns-Kanon 21k, 'Flodhäst' or 'Behemoth' during an exercise. Though excellent in design and armament, it was slow and less mobile than the 'Räv' series, and would be the least used armoured vehicle in Soverith.

Image

Strv-40 'Sjakal' medium tank, used mainly for reconnaissance, but was also a formidable foe against enemy tanks. Its armor was more complicated than was the armor of the 'Räv' series tanks.

So far, none of the Soverithian tank designs were for export, since they were so well made. Guiraud considered sharing the plans with his allies in Annopol, however. But that decision was yet to be made. At the moment, he had problems with trade again as the war drew closer.

Postby The Gujiyan Isles » Sun Aug 17, 2014 10:59 am

This formal statement is in response to a request by the government of Anqoraknia to join in a military and commerce pact, referred to hereafter as the “Allied Union Treaty” or “AUT.” The Gujiyan Isles is currently undergoing a governmental overhaul, and is preparing the logistical groundwork for the first congressional elections, scheduled to occur later this year. The current transitional government is both ephemeral and undemocratic, and thus is in no position to be making long lasting agreements with other nations. When the Gujiyan Isles government has completed the conversion to democratic self-governance, the country will decide then whether it will join. Considering the very good standing that Anqoraknia has with the Gujiyan people, it is very likely that the Gujiyan Isles will agree to the AUT.

The Guijyan transitional government would like to suggest some additional stipulations to other AUT members for consideration.
  • If passports will not be required to travel between our nations, each nation must agree to establish a universal national ID card system in all member nations that serves as a method of identification at the port of arrival. This prevents undocumented immigrants/emigrants.
  • There should be a clause for the violation of neutrality upon or by a member nation. This clause would outline the obligations for military aide in case a member nation’s neutrality is violated. A subsection would also dictate the sanctions placed upon a member nation if that nation violates neutrality by attacking another member or non-member nation (the sanctions for these two situations may differ).
  • The act should also establish an international policing and investigations force, to aid in the apprehension and conviction of international criminals, specifically to address the anticipated increase in criminal commerce following the ratification of the AUT including but not limited to the sale or exchange of illicit drugs, the use or distribution of counterfeit currency, human trafficking, and international organized crime.
  • The pact should also stipulate the minimum obligation for the reduction in tariffs for goods that originate from another member nation. Member nations should be allowed to reduce tariffs beyond the minimum as they see fit. The minimum tariff reduction should be small to incentivize domestic industry, yet not insignificant, to facilitate more trade.
  • The creation of an AUT territory seems unnecessarily complicated way of allowing national leaders to meet. A simpler method would be to dedicate a building, or even a single boardroom in Kletoischka Square for the purpose of AUT member nation meetings.

Ended as it started
The country of Anqoraknia has suspended the AU treaty. With Soverith's rule breaking of harassing citizens who are trying to pass causing great stress among the members and them and Annopol on the brink of war for such a heinous reason. The two are condemned from all aid from Anqoraknia. Gujiyan is fighting a war for independence and they are still not a sovereign state, this could cause international implications. East Aushanit being the only ally of not having any infractions will remain a peaceful ally and the old trade treaties will be re-implemented.

*Letter too King Fabius*
Dear Fabius,

It occurs too me that you are on the brink of war. You colony of Acronesia borders my country and the Socialist Assembly has passed a humanitarian levy that if any citizens; just citzens; need refuge within Anqoraknia we are free too help in any way. People shouldn't be forced too starve to death and not know if they will have a safe haven.

Please consolidate over this,
Zakhar Gusin

*Zakhar writes another letter too Avinaa*
Dear President Osbourg.

Congratulations on your victory of the state on implementing your new government. It appears that in the past I have written to President Howe but he never replied too anything. Perhaps you are different. I have an offer. You see us in Anqoraknia didn't agree with Howe as you didn't and let's be honest we aided Gujiyan in overthrowing him. You have states near mine that are refusing Avinaan rule. I am saying that if I help overthrow the governments of New Avinaa, Vellata, and the Pearl Isles you let my comrade Gujiyan have independence once and for all. It's only for the best. If you deny that is fine, but it shows you are no different than Howe.

Leader of the State,
Zakhar Gusin

November 3rd, 1939

The ride back from the weapons exhibition was uneventful, and once the Chancellor had arrived back at the Reichshalle and exited his car, he quickly made his way past the pillboxes and barbed wire checkpoints outside and entered the building. He had made it no further than the front hall when an aide met him at the stairs. The man clicked his heels and extended his arm in salute before beginning to speak. "Mein Kanzler, you have a guest awaiting you in your office's waiting area. I tried to deter her, but she strongly insisted that she wait for you upstairs, so i placed a guard with her. Her name is Elsa von Liesel, the oldest daughter of Baron von Liesel."

The Chancellor's heart started beating rather fast at the mention of the name, for Elsa von Liesel was the woman he had been in love with since their childhood. When the great war came along it had separated them, and since he had never heard from her again, he had decided that it would be best to leave things the way they were. However that had all changed in an instant, for here she was in his life again. Tirpitz, momentarily casting aside his usual serious manner, excitedly replied "Yes Yes I know who she is. We grew up together, her father practically raised me! It has been years since I have seen her,how long has she been waiting?""About 30 minutes sir."

The Chancellor collected himself and took a deep controlled breath before replying. "Very well, I shall go up at once."

As he made his way up the stairs he began to get nervous. He mentally chided himself as he walked, thinking to himself that he could deal with leading the country but not a single woman? Before he realized it, he was at the private entrance to his office. Taking another breath he walked in and went promptly to the large globe that was in his office. Taking the top tip of the axis upon which it rotated in his hand, he lifted it up to reveal a drinking bar underneath. He opened the bar up fully and poured himself a stout glass of Ambruster Whiskey. Deciding that one shot wasn't enough, he quickly downed two more.

Satisfied with the way he was feeling now, he rang the buzzer in the waiting area, which signaled that he was ready to see the next visitor. He stared intently at the doorknob, wondering what beheld him on the other side. The knob quickly turned and the door swung inward, and through the doorway strode Ms. von Liesel in all of her splendor. Her age of 39 years had not touched her, for she still looked as youthful and vibrant as she did on the last day that Tirpitz had seen her. She made her way across the floor and around his desk and wrapped him in a tight hug without so much as a hello.

She broke the embrace and began to speak, throwing formality out the window. "So Albrecht, why haven't you found me after all these years?"

Tirpitz was briefly taken aback by the frankness of the whole situation thus far, and barely manage to sputter out "I didn't know you wanted me too."

"20 years and that is the best you can come up with? Man, how did you get this position?" she laughed as she said this, though it did little to ease the Chancellor's feelings.

Albrecht finally manage to compose himself and said "I would have called for you, if I thought it would have done any good. I thought for sure that you would have been married off to some other nobleman by now, and far to busy to concern yourself with me. If I had known that you were still available, then I would have hauled you in here as soon as I had the chance."

Elsa could tell that he was becoming more at ease now, and even though they had been childhood friends, he was still the Chancellor and that meant he could have her killed at a drop of the hat. She chose her next words more carefully, deciding that it was time to get to the point of her visit. She said "Albrecht, Mein Kanzler, I have not come merely for a friendly visit, I have come to inquire of your availability. I would like to move in with you, get to know you again, and hopefully we could become something more than long lost friends."

If Albrecht was taken aback by the conversation before, then he was in flat out shock at this new development. He did not speak until he had poured himself another shot of whiskey. He stammered out "Of c-c-course you can Elsa, you can stay here as long as you like. I will inform the staff at once, so they can begin moving your possessions in."

Elsa broadened into a warm and friendly smile, thankful that he had not asked about her family or her motives. Because she had in fact been married to a nobleman, Baron Wulfmauer, but it quickly deteriorated. Her spouse was a fierce alcoholic and he beat her constantly. To make matters worse, he had a few other mistresses on the side, and he began to enjoy their company more than hers, because he actually had power over them. His drunkenness led to adultery, and his adultery led to drunkenness. He lived in a vicious cycle of lust and abuse. Elsa tried to live with it at first, but she could not turn a blind eye forever. Finally she could take no more and one night while he was passed out drunk on a sofa, home late from another night of debauchery and revelry, she took a knife and with it she slit his throat and repeatedly stabbed the man's dying body. After he had died, she stealthily made her way to an obscure corner of the mansion and broke one of the windows, after waiting a few more minutes she began to scream and call for help.

The mansion guards had ran into the room and found her covered in blood next to the corpse of her husband. She was shouting that a robber was on the grounds. The guards searched for a ghost, for they did not question the mistress. The next day she recounted her story, about how she was upstairs and had heard a window break. She then went downstairs and saw a man clutching a bloody knife next to the Baron's body. He fled when he saw her, and she ran down to cradle her husband, hence the blood.

Since she was a noblewoman, and partly aided by her father's intervention. the authorities did not hard press her for answers, and they let her go. The law makes indicting a aristocrat very difficult unless there is undeniable evidence that links them with the crime, so they did not wish to waste their time investigating her anyway. The guards at the premises vouched for Elsa's alibi also, either out of respect for their former employer, or out of sympathy for her abuse. Whatever their reasoning, their stories, along with the aforementioned factors helped secure Elsa's perceived innocence and shifted the majority of the suspicion away from her.

It was when Elsa went to the title office to receive her inheritance and titles that she received the worst of her news. For unbeknownst to Elsa, her ex husband has recently written her out of his will. The solicitor informed her that this had occurred about two weeks prior, and that he had also been in the process of filing for a divorce. His mistresses had pushed him away from Elsa and in the end he despised her. He wanted her out of his way and thusly she found herself here today. Homeless and penniless, she had no choice to but to play the one card she had left, her connection to the Chancellor, who was more than happy to help her. Arranging an audience with Albrecht had been simple. She mentioned her father's name once or twice and showed more than a modest bit of flesh to a few of the guards, and then she was in. Now only time would tell if she could fully escape her crimes.

NEAPOLIS, NEW IONIA
The city of Neapolis stood at Ionia's border with the Anarchic Anti-State of Ostamarsh and Avinaan Colony of New Avinaa. In the recent months a group of Leftists and anti-government citizens had formed a Militia by the name of Ethnikos Dimokratikos Stratos (Εθνικός Δημοκρατικός Στρατός - National Democratic Army) in the colony to overthrow the Nationalist government.

Other groups such as Apikiaki Epanastatiki Organosi (Αποικιακή Επαναστατική Οργάνωση - Colonial Revolutionary Organization) to gain independence from the Ionian government in the homeland and establish New Ionia as a sovereign nation, under the name of New Ionian Union (Νέα Ιωνική Ένωση - Nea Ioniki Enosi). The difference was however that the AEO was not a leftist or libertarian organization like the EDS but promoted the idea of an Apartheid were only white Ionians had power and rights.

Both groups and smaller ones did have soemthing in common though; They all had camps and took refuge in the Anarchic "Free Land" of Ostmarsh, in its nearby Capital, Kophal City, attacking Neapolis and other cities in teh colonies, supporting Avinaan rebels and even organizing similar groups in the homeland. After a major attack by combined forces of both groups on Neapolis, at the time when the Colonial Forces were busy with the Civil War in New Avinaa and the failed Immigrant Rebellion in New Smyrna, costing the Ionian Armed Forces 1,632 troops and 324 civilians, the Ionian government had no ychoice but to formally adress the issue. Thus the Ypatos, who had recently changed his title to Autarch, wrote a letter to the Ostarmishi Free State requesting that they remove the rebels from their lands and help the Ionian Forces in combating and eleminating them.

NEW IONIA, IONIAN BORDER WITH OSTMARSH
Seeing that 24 hours had passed without rely the Ionian Armed Forces begun gathering troops on the border. 150,000 Marines, 720 fighter planes, 80 bombers, 60 warships and 876 tanks were amassed. Most of these forces had beeen amassed before the Ultimatum due to the contineud insurgency and in anticipation of an invasion of Ostmarsh. They were supported by 180,000 Tagmata Efodou Elite Paramilitary Troops which were either moved to the colony by the navy or were already present.

Observing the large presence of troops on the border the various revolutionary groups attempted to assault the force. They were however defeated, as irregular militias were ineffective against regular and even elite troops with superior technology and air support. The rebels lost 1,731 troops while the Ionian Forces only suffered 92 deaths. The partisans were forced to retreat into the Ostmarshi border while the Ionian Forces prepared for an invasion. The rebels gathered all their forces along the border to prepare themselves for an invasion.

November 26th, 1939

The Makrian invasion force was well on schedule, due to the fact that as of yet no nations of the world had made an effort to deter them. They had however tipped off the Makrian government, who hastily scrabbled to throw a defensive barrier up around their coast. There total amount of forces was unknown, but surely they would be no match for the highly trained Landser soldiers.

Naval Fleet Eichmann had sailed in closer to the shore, however due to an emplacement of deployed artillery, they were forced to withdraw to out of the range of the shells. Judging by the shells' ranges, they were being fired from deadly, but outdated artillery pieces. The two battleships aligned themselves for broadside salvos and prepared to fire at the coastline.
Image

For an entire day, shell after shell was fired at the coastal defenses and explosions filled the horizon with bright lights. Once the cacophony of thunderous noise had ceased, the Commander of the fleet gave the order for a detachment of the destroyers to sail within range of their artillery once more, to determine if any pockets of heavy resistance were left.

10:50 am

The destroyers had sailed within range but had attracted no fire, so the Commander gave the order for the LCVP's to begin loading troops. The initial wave will be made up of 1,375 Sturmwehr soldiers. The first wave fate would dictate the execution of the rest of the operation. After what seemed like ages for the men, the order was given to proceed. The LCVPs were released from the transports and sent on their way to the shore. The men stood huddled together clutching their rifles tightly to their chests waiting for the front gate to drop open. The waves tossed the craft to and fro, making some of the men sick. As the ships made their way closer to the shoreline the men began to get anxious, ready to be off the slow moving mechanical beasts and have their boots firmly planted on the ground once again.

11:20 am

The first of the vessels drove up on the beach, dropping their gates and issuing forth their heavily armed tenants. The soldiers charged forward to a small rise in the beach, and just when they thought they would make it without firing a shot, small arms fire burst forth from the edge of the jungle. Several of the Landser soldiers took bullets to their chests, dropping immediately to the ground. Those who did make it to the safety of the sand berm, found themselves trying to shoot at an invisible target. They could not see far into the jungle, and they were forced to fire blindly. Around them, more of their comrades found themselves the victims of high dosages of lead.

Radio men from different squads called back to the vessels, requesting immediate fire support from the fleet. The Landser navy swung into action maneuvering the ships into firing positions. They sighted in the jungle line and opened fire, sending huge plumes of flame, earth, and foliage up into the sky wherever the shells landed. The troops on the beach watched in awe as the very jungle, and everything that was in it, disintegrated before their eyes...Meanwhile the LCVPs had returned to the transports, and were loading more men. After a brief conference with other officers, they determined that the casualty rate was satisfactory. So the Commander ordered the procession of the operation. When the order came down, the LCVPs left once more for shore, and now that a second wave of reinforcements was en route, the Landser soldiers already ashore rallied up and charged into the smoldering ruins of the jungle.

The enemy army had apparently fallen back, but a counter-attack was sure to be launched in the near future. However for now, the Landser soldiers had a toe hold on the beach, and they hastily set about preparing a base camp and defensive emplacements. The LCVPs continued to ferry men and supplies ashore at an efficient pace, and by nightfall a counter attack was yet to be experienced. If nothing changed overnight, then recon units would be sent out to scout the forward area and retrieve any intel they could on enemy units, which meant their position, number, and armament. Once they pushed their way through the jungle, then they would make for the town of Bornia. That would be their first target, due to its possession of a small airfield, but for now the soldiers were content to stay on the beach. The news of a successful landing would be relayed back to the Chancellor, who would be thoroughly thrilled. The Landser forces had lost a total of 295 men, and total enemy casualties were unkown.

OSTMARSHI BORDER REGIONS NEAR NEW IONIA
Since 36 hours had passed without a positive reply to the Ultimatum, nor any reply or reaction at all for that matter, the Ionian foces begun nightime bombing raids and artillery barages on the border. The Capital City of Ostamrsh, Kophal City, was right next to the border, and the air raids and artillery attacks begun taking a heavy toll on the city. Civilian centres were avoided and the Ionians did their best to minimize civilian deaths. The military and police bases around the city, on he other hand, were attacked heavily, using gas and incidiary rounds to crush Ostmarsh's ability to defend itself. Government, infastructure and industrial targets were also hit severely. Any known rebel bases and encampments were dealt with similarly and the border between New Ionia and Ostmarsh faced bombardment.

At a cost of 3 planes the Ionians managed to neutralize most of Ostmarsh's immediate defences swiftly and effectively. In 12 hours, at sunrise, the Ultimatum's time limit would expire and war would be declared to formally allow the Ionians the abiltiy to wage total war on the Free Land's armed forces and the Rebels hiding inside its lands. To protect themselves from any counterattacks the Ionians placed guards and fortified their positions, preparing for a Blitz early tomorrow.

OSTMARSH
Early in the morning, before sunrise and after the air raids and artllery strikes had taken place, the Ionian Air Force started dropping paratroopers behind enemy lines. At the same time a massive artillery barrage begun on the border between New Ionia and Ostmarsh. On 8:30 AM Ionian ground forces combined with tanks and aircraft begun assaulting the small river and mountain range between the two nations. AT the same time Marines landed from Ostmarsh's northern coast facing little resistance from the still recovering nation.

The Ionian Rebels and local militia stationed on the border failed to block the Ionian advance. At a cost of 1,324 men the Ionians crushed the defensive line, killing 3,456 rebels and 1,243 militia and pushing into the treacherous jungle and marsh of Ostmarsh. The first attacks itno the forest were pushed by local guerillas and were costly, inflicting losses of 1,079 men on the Ionians. At 11:12 AM the decision was made to bombard the forest with incidiary bombs and use flamethrowers on teh ground. The Air Force tried to preserve most of it and only hit areas close to the capital and border.

After carving a dead zone in the areas were the defenders were hiding the Ionian troops advanced. In an open field the badly equipped and poorly trained local forces were no match for elite and regular troops and were slaughtered loosing 2,671 men and many more wounded. Many surrendered and others fell back deeper into the forest or into the capital, Kophal city. 12,000 defenders were captured. They were transfered back to Ionian camps in dsolate rocky islands of the homeland or deserty areas of New Ionia. The Ionians did their best to keep most of them alive, however many succumbed to their wounds due to a lack of Medical stuff among the Ionians. Doctors where brought in from New Ionia's cities to prevent too many deaths. The number of prisoners was thus stabilized at 11,342.

The Ionians then created a safe zone around Kophal City. An internal siege line besieged the city, while an external zone, defended the forces focused on the siege from any surprise attacks or counterattacks. A zone inbetween was ready to provide troops to either side in case they were needed. The remainder of Ionian forces protected the Ionian border so as to prevent any Ionian cities from suffering surprise attacks. For these tasks an aditional 100,000 Tagmata Efodou (Τάγματα Εφόδου, ΤΕ - Shock/Storm Troopers, ST) Elite Paramilitary troops were brought in. Artillery pounded the city and while civilian casualties were avoided they were a tragic reality just like in any other siege. The Field Marshall in command of the operation prohibited the use of any gas or incidiary rounds, to decrease the number of dead civilians even more.

Declaration of War Issued by the Kingdom of Acro.

The nation of Anqoraknia has declared war upon the Pearl Isles, this declaration was issued despite the guarantee of independence for the kingdom given by Acro. In response to this disgusting act of aggression a state of war will now exist between Acro and Anqorakia. It is high time that the state learns the consequences for their actions and Acro will not stop until the dictatorial regime is removed from power and a true government of the people is given power. Acro calls upon all nations to answer this call.

Top Secret Message

The Esteemed President Harry Osburg,
The time is here to remove Premier Gusin from his self made thrown of hubris and conquered lands. For to long Anqoraknia has conquered land that they had no right to, and in the interest of avoiding a second great war the leaders of the world have let his invasions sit without consequence. I understand that you have a common interest in not allowing the continued existence of the Pearl Isles and Vellentia. And I agree. The Pearl Isles is Acronese by right the same as Vellentia is yours. I have great interest in strengthening the alliance between our to great nations as well as weakening the beast in the south. In exchange for your support I will do what I can to strengthen your nations influence in the region, perhaps a few buffer states are in order.
Yours in Brotherhood,
King Fabius Acronese

Top Secret Message
Chancellor Geislor,
War between our nations would bring nothing but bloodshed, and I think that we have a greater enemy. We both have great imperial ambitions, and the land our our respective continents is dreadfully full. But the land of the south will soon have a substantial power vacuum, provided you assist me. I am most willing to allow your ships and planes to be stationed in Acro, as a permanent agreement. However the land you claim in Acro will remain under our rule, and the attacking of Acronese merchant ships must halt. We will never be friends and we must accept that and work towards fighting a greater enemy. The military machine of Reichland will be hard pressed to stand up to an army of fanatic communists that outnumber you 10-1 and have enormous industrial capacity. The swords drawn between our nations must be sheathed and our weapons drawn towards a common foe.
Yours in Brotherhood,
Fabius Acronese, King of Acro

Unable to find the words to write directly to his foreign counterparts in Reichsland and Acro, Emperor Takeo Nagatako decided to broadcast a speech from his quarters in Fikotashi regarding all current events involving the Empire. The Imperial parliament passed a law enforcing all citizens to acquire an operational radio fit for speeches from the Emperor at all times. It turns on automatically as a speech is being prepared. His next speech is to be broadcast via the Empire Radio System (or the ERS) to every corner of the empire. It began at noon in the main islands.

Good morning fellow Dekartans, and people of our great empire. First and foremost, in Dekartan tradition I would like to thank you all for allowing my voice and speech into your homes at any time of day. It is a privilege only given to family and soldiers in our great empire, and what are we if we are not a great family. Working together, fighting the common enemy of today and tomorrow, growing our empire day by day and showing the world the strength of the Empire of Dekarta. I regret to inform you all that our allies Acro and Reichsland have fallen into conflict in the northern Xiosaki sea. The Landser navy began sinking merchant ships off the coast of Reichsland and began killing Acronese civilians in their nation. The Acronese responded by firing at all Landser ships in Acronese waters. This soon spread to the entire Xiosaki sea and could soon escalate into full scale war. Both are great allies of our empire, and both have asked assistance of us. Both expect us to join one side and fight for the rights of their citizens, governments, and militaries. I have been contacted by King Fabius of Acro, as well as Chancellor Tripitz of Reichsland. And I believe personally, and I hope that you all share the opinion I claim, that the Empire of Dekarta will never turn it's back on an ally. In the name of the Empire of Dekarta, I condemn all violence between Reichsland and Acro and order the fighting to cease immediately. I call for peace in the Xiosaki sea and peace between the nations of Acro and Reichsland. If violence is retained and peace ignored then the Dekartan navy will escort all Landser and Acronese ships not equipped with defenses spotted in the Xiosaki sea. The naval escorts will not fire upon any ship of any nation unless fired upon first. I expect both governments to see this as an end to the conflicts in the Northern Xiosaki sea, and not under any means escalate this any further. I would also like to address the situation of continued weapons development in Reichsland and Dekarta. I ask Chancellor Tripitz to allow Dekartan scientists, and researchers back into Landser weapons research facilities, as I assure you the Dekartan Empire poses no threat to the Landser people. As for the situation in Trandosha, I have received word from General Masaki that the nations population put up no fight and the country fell into the respectful hands of our Empire. However the new nation of Gujiya also laid claims in the land we claimed as Dekartan territory. This will by no means be tolerated and I personally demand a complete withdrawal of Gujiya from the Dekartan claims in Trandosha, and demand they be sent back to their home islands. Gujiya being a trade partner, we will give your soldiers 2 months to evacuate the our land. If the Gujiyanese government and military does not comply a declaration of war will be issued on Gujiya and All Gujiyanese people within Dekartan borders will be forced to work for our empire with no pay and no rights, they will be stripped of their Dekartan citizenship and used to further our Islands to victory as mandatory labor workers. As for the intercepted message by the Roman Intelligence Agency of a suspected invasion of Dekarta, we continue to fortify the shores and borders making sure that no foreign military steps foot into land rightfully under Dekartan jurisdiction. The government would like to assure it's people and the world, an invasion of any territory, province, island, colony, or prefecture of the Dekartan Empire would be a fools errand, and would ultimately lead to the destruction and bloodshed of the invaders people and home lands. We will not tolerate such barbaric behavior between our allies in these troubled times, and we will take any steps needed to stay neutral and/or retain peace. As an Empire we must stand together against violence and unneeded warfare that plagues our allies time and time again. Yet I ask you all to understand, if the Dekartan empire's power is threatened, make no mistake, we will unleash utter annihilation on our enemy. Their people, nation, infrastructure, and culture will cease to exist. I thank you all for supporting your Empire, you are what fuels our path to justice and victory. The speech ends and the reactions are varied. Some bicker over the governments choice to not choose to back Tripitz or Fabius, while the majority claim Gujiya will be the next territory of the Empire very soon, and support the Emperor unconditionally.

War is coming to the planet of Aysling once more.

"It's finally here." muttered Guiraud to himself after reading the report on Acro and Anqoraknia. He quickly folded the paper and stuffed it into his coat pocket. The Assembly would hear of this in their own homes. For now, security had to be raised. War was back, and it would be worse than ever before. Today the Imperial Manor would be shut down completely, and all its systems handed over to the Gvardia Emperiat. Soverith was not under attack yet, but to be prepared for anything was better than nothing.

All afternoon, Vessla Korps. troops were seen along streets, pasting posters on the walls that advised people to be alert at all times no matter what the situation. Air raid exercises were yet to be practised. As always, defenses were regularly checked by higher ranking officers to make sure they were in working condition when the time came that they were needed.

For now, unless Annopol took action, Soverith would stay static, awaiting to pounce before charging in blindly. Guiraud would not make the same mistake his predecessors did. It led the nation to several humiliating and unacceptable defeats. Soverith's new army would withstand attacks from now on, despite the cost. Again, due to the lack of security, Guiraud, fortifies Valentina which was at the moment extremely vulnerable.

IONIA
Seeing that war drew near the Ionian Government begun preparing to defend itself. Compalsory Radios, Medical Supplies and Gas Masks were given out while civilians were directed to the shelters of their respective area. In the period after the Great War, a large program of shelters and underground railways had been constructed all over Ionia.

The Nikiforos Line, a massive set of 60 underground cement fortreses designed to withstand aerial, aval and ground attacks equipped with the latest tech Ionia had in its disposal. The Tagmata Efodou and National Guard troops were mobilized to prepare Ionia for an invasion and Anti Air defences in all cities were organized.

The various convoys of the Ionian Merchant Navy were now protected by Corvettes while Ionia's massive fleet, equipped with Battleships, Submarines and Aircraft Carriers that pucked quite a punch patrolled Ionian waters in Sovide sea both at home and in the colonies.

OSTMARSH
Seeing that the war had now begun the Ionian generals in Ostmarsh had to speed up their plans. Instead of a prolonged siege they opted fora costly but immedietly effective Attack. After an intense Artillery and Air barrage, Ionian Ground Forces moved into Kophal city with tanks and air support. The bloody street to street fighting lasted a full day, costing the Ionians 2,562 troops and 1,234 wounded and the defenders 1,342 confirmed dead, possibly more, and an unkown number of wounded troops.

At the morning however of the 21 of August, the Ionian flag flew over Kophal City. Ostmarsh had unconditionally surrendered. Soon after the fall of the city the partisans which had trigerred Ionia to invade laid down their arms. A zone in East Ostmarsh was annexed into the Colony of New Ionia, to protect New Ionia's original borders. The city of New Priene, a city founded by the Ionian minority before the Great War, was planned to be expanded, while Kophal City was renamed to New Pargamon. West Ostmarsh was reorganized into a Republic. A demilitarized zone was placed on the border of the two nations. The Ionian State founded Ostberg to act as a government, industrial and military centre of the new nation and helped them rebuild and industrialize, though to a degree that wouln't be harmful to Ionia in the future. In the Ostmarshi Republic's first elections the pro-Ionian National Centrist Party was elected.

December 1939

The Landser offensive in Makria has been brutal. The Makrian Army had resorted to guerilla tactics, assaulting the Landser soldiers where they least expected it, using the jungle as camouflage. The forward push has cost many lives, 2,684 to be exact. That amounts to over a thousand soldiers per week, and the men were weary with anxiety and stress. They had to push out of the forsaken jungle areas and at least take Bornia. That would give them a little respite from the jungle heat and humidity.

The Makrian 2nd Army, under the command of Major General Abdel Mozamba, was deployed against the Landser. He might not be the smartest officer the Makrian Army had, but he knew how to lead and sometimes that made up for lack of tactical ability. He had a total of 102,000 men at his command, mixed with a few companies of outdated tanks and armored vehicles. They were currently all that stood between the Sturmwehr and the capital city of Keraban, and the Major knew that he could not afford to many mistakes.

The following is a timeline of the events in Makria so far...

The day following the invasion, Landser forces experience no counter attack. Mozamba knows that his forces are no match for the Landser in conventional warfare, so he resorts to asymmetrical tactics. Landser recon teams are sent into the jungles surrounding the town of Bornia, where they are ambushed and killed. Those who do make it back alive have little to report. The Landser commander, General Walther Leupold, realizes that this operation will not be as easy as previously planned. Still unaccustomed to jungle combat or strategy, he orders the 3rd, 4th and 8th battalions of the 1st Division into a general advance.

at 2:02 pm the Landser soldiers advance into the shadowy jungle, unsure what to expect. The Makrians have deployed sniper scouts to deter the Landser's progress, as well as to serve as a kind of "early warning system", which will alert his other units to the presence of enemy forces. The first sniper shots ring out and find their targets, dropping them to the ground. The other men find immediate cover until they can ascertain where the shots came from. The Sturmwehr radios back for indirect support fire, and warn that they are danger close. The mortar teams respond with withering fire, the shrapnel shredding the brush and leaves into paper thin strips. A few of the shells fall short, falling onto the Landser lines.
The snipers are either killed or forced to fall back, opening up the way for the Sturmwehr advance. The warnings had worked though, and the Makrians had taken up defensive positions deeper in the jungle. They waited like a spider waits for its prey.

The Landser soldiers slowly crept forward through the jungle, watching for the slightest sign of movement. They had advanced about 2,400 ft, when the first units came into the line of sight of the Makrian Army. The Makrians opened fire, using old bolt action rifles, for the bulk of the Makrian forces was composed of basic riflemen. Once again the Landser were caught by surprise, immediately taking casualties. They grabbed cover and began to return fire, and judging by the screams of pain emanating from the opposing side of the jungle, some their shots found their marks as well. Fighting continued until nightfall with neither side gaining any more ground. Finally the Landser forces, who were tired and running short on ammunition, fell back a little ways. The Makrians did not pursue, for they too had to fall back and nurse their wounds.
In one day of fighting, the Sturmwehr had lost 236 men, while the Makrians had lost aprox. 164.
Image
Landser mortar teams fire their weapons at enemy forces.

The weeks following the invasion were very heated, exacting many lives from both sides. After deadly fighting in the jungle, Landser forces finally broke through to the fields and open hills that surrounded the town of Bornia.
Image
Landser forces capture an enemy defensive position in the jungle
General Mozamba knows that his troops are no match for the enemy in this territory but he has strict orders from Makrian High Command that he is to hold the area. The Makrians have authorized the use of several of their aircraft, which mostly are outdated WWI models. Mozamba's army is down to 96,000 men, and they are spread across a large frontline, which means that they will be hard pressed to maintain any given section of their line. The General's men are inspired by him though, and they fight valiantly.

On December 4th the Landser forces are on the outskirts of Bornia, and they quickly launch an offensive to capture it. The 3rd and 4th Sturmwehr divisions are all incorporated in the attack. Bornia is defended by 8,000 Makrian regulars, 31 tanks, and 18 fighter planes. In the opening hours of the attack, Mozamba deploys his tanks in the open fields to the west of the town, there they will assault the advancing Landser and attempt to drive them back into the jungle. He also orders the aircraft to drop what little ordnance they can carry on the jungles in an attempt to prolong the enemy attack.

Mozamba is no fool and he realizes that his men will be slaughtered, but he has to use what tools are at his disposal....Meanwhile the Landser have deployed their PAKs farther back to provide artillery support. They are also used at anti-air weapons, using proximity fused Flak shells containing deadly ball bearings.
Image
Landser PAK 88s deployed in the field

The Makrian tanks roll out of the city into the fields on their suicide charge as their allied planes buzz overhead. The tank commanders standing up in the hatches watch in horror as the first black puffs of Flak appear in the sky, swatting their planes out of the sky with ease. Bits of fuselage and other debris rain down onto the earth as the remainder of the fighters slam violently into the ground. Several of the tank commanders realize that their are artillery out there as well, but they have no choice but to push on and pray for victory.

The Landser soldiers are advancing as well, with scout cavalry in the lead searching for enemy movements.
Image
Landser scouts spot enemy troops in the distance and scan the immediate area for enemy infantry. They will soon return to the lines and report.

The scouts report that they have spotted enemy armor advancing, so the Landser commander orders that Panzerjager units be deployed at the frontlines and for the mortar teams to deploy and attack. The first mortar shells fall short and warn the Makrian tanks that they have been found out. The tanks batten down the hatches and prepare for contact. As the trundle along the field a few of the mortars find their marks and destroy the tanks, turning the machines into a twisted pile of burning metal.

The other tanks continue their course and open fire at the flashes of light in the distance. The artillery have still not opened fire, saving their shells for the assault on the town. Panzerjagers fall into position as they prepare to open fire with their panzerfausts. The tanks open up with their machine guns when they see the Landser and a few of the sturmwehr are mowed down. The PFs launch their rockets at the remaining armor and within 30 minutes, the tank force is destroyed. This opens the way for the Landser advance once again.
The town of Bornia falls on December 6th, and the Landser offensive spread out further. The assault cost only 481 Landser lives, while inflicting a little under 1500 casualties to the Makrians. After the capture of Bornia's airfield, the Landser Navy deploys a carrier fleet to the Makrian Coast, where they will begin to deploy fighter craft to Bornia, as well as bombers. The bombers had to be reduced in size to facilitate a carrier launch. Landser forces continue to their offensive and beat back the Makrian Army. As of March 16th, the area of Landser control is as follows. Several more towns and villages have been captured by the Landser, with total casualties of the campaign totaling 4,794 Landser and aprox. 23,000 Makrians. The Chancellor has authorized one additional infantry division and one additional panzer division to be deployed to Makria as reinforcements.

PRIENE, IONIA
The news of Ionia's annexation of the Eastern half of Ostmarsh, following their victory as well as the crushing of the rebels and the creation of a Nationalist Republic, that would serve as an exemplary state to the world on the positive effects of Autocratism, brought cheers and celebration to many in the Ionian homeland, mainly in the capital.

Thousands signed up for the new Colonial Settlement programs, some being shipped to the original territories of New Ionia, New Smyrna, New Makri and Neapolis and others being sent to populate the recently annexed and evacuated New Priene and New Pergamon, formerly Kophal City. The two cities begun a process of rebuilding, with new urban plans as well as industrialization to serve as exammplary Nationalist Cities. The Ostmarshi had mixed reactions to the newfound Republican Nationalism in their country but the Ionian aid in industrializing and developping the West Ostmarshi Republic and its recently founded capital, Ostberg, greatly shaped public opinion to the extent that the pro-Ionian NCP won the first elections. Though Ionian Military influence played a big role in the election.

In just 2 months New Priene and New Pergamon had 21,000 and 26,000 citizens each, while Ostburg spiked at 1,600,000 thansk to the jobs and housing facilities created with Ionian aid.

The Officers' Association, a group of Military Officers from all branches and ranks aiming to restore the Ionian Republic's Democracy show a massive defeat. Without groups such as the IDA and CLA to undermine Fascist rule and with the recent victory, in which the fanatic Tagmata Efodou played a major role there would be severely decreased pulic support for their planned coup against Ypatos Nikiforou's Government. Still they continued gathering members for their cause.

Since the declaration of war upon the Anqoraknia nation the people had gotten restless. The memory of the Great War was fresh in the memories of many, as was the memory of the 700,000 that had been killed during the fighting. The Iron Eagle party had taken advantage of this anger and its ranks had swelled rapidly. In just a few short weeks its membership had risen from 60,000 to over 750,000. Its leaders, who had formed the party after the end of the great war nearly 25 years ago were unable to handle the hundreds of thousands that they now commanded. And a internal coup d'état occurred, during which the fiery propaganda minister of the party, Titinius Septus, who had written the extremely racist manifesto Purity of Species years earlier, took control of the party. The brilliant author took to his task with gusto and he showed his immense leadership skills by rapidly reorganizing the party from a rabble of angry commoners to be a flawless machine of hate.

An army of 275,000 was organized and became known as the Talons, they rapidly developed a reputation for brutality. However people continued to flock to their party and party membership reached over 1,000,000. The cabinet and senate became terrified at the thought of such a violent and racist group taking control in the upcoming elections and passed an emergency law that banned the party from participating in any elections. The move backfired and the infringement upon the rights to free election lead many to protest, even though they disagreed with the Iron Eagles policies. King Fabius remained bedridden following a almost fatal bout of Red Plague, and a growing crowd had began to surround the palace. Among the crowd are 10,000 Talons who await a signal from their leader.

As the sun reaches the middle of the sky Titinius climbs atop a rapidly erected stage and faces the people.

People of Acro, for as long as we can remember our glorious nation has been run by a king, and for the old times it was necessary. But the world has changed and so must we. We can not allow ourselves to be kept in stagnation by this king. He has shown himself an enemy of democracy and thus his life is forfeit, I call upon you people of Acro. Charge forward and let us sweep this diseased system away, let freedom come to Acro. The crowd cheers and Titinius is greeted on the stage by members of other parties. Loki Hizik of the Acronese Democratic Socialist party puts his arm around Titinius and his followers in the crowd cheer. Other party leaders do the same and soon the whole crowd is screaming for blood. FORWARD! Titinius grabs a submachine gun from one of the Talons fires half a clip into the air.

Like a fuse finally reaching a bomb the crowd explodes into action. The Royal Guardsmen, fire into the air attempting to warn the crowd off, but when that fails they begin shooting into the crowd. But for those that fall dozens more replace them and the outnumbered guards retreat to the palace.

Titinius calls the crowd forward and the palace is swarmed by thousands upon thousands of rioters. While most of the mob set about destroying the property Titinius collects his men and marches up to the palace proper. Kill them all, I want the king hung on the gates.

And his children sir? Ferdinand, Iriano, and Cicero? One of the officers asks. Titinius laughs slightly before replying.

The same. Titinius turns back to observe the riot as the soldiers of the Talon carry out their orders.

Inside the Palace Proper.

Prince Ferdinand holds a gun in his hand, a small contingent of guards around him. He stares solemnly at the violence and the men in grey approaching the palace. So this is how it ends. He turns back to the guards, 50 men who had lived with him for over nearly two decades. Each was his friend and would die for him.

We can flee sir. The tunnels are open. A guard named Saski says. We can get your father and Iriano out with us.

But if we do we wont have time to destroy what we must. Ferdinand turns to Saski. My father won't flee. But you must get Iriano out of her. Saski I am giving you a final order, please do it.

Saski realizes what his prince is planning to do and almost refuses, but instead he nods. I will not fail you my prince. Saski grabs the 8 year old princess and heads toward the tunnels. Ferdinand has the rest of the guards follow him to the Incident Room.

In here is all the secret information collected by my family since we came to power. Included in this information is a secret tunnel system built during the Romanov Dynasty, it was intended to be a method for escape incase of the red plagues return. Over time it has faded away and now almost none know of its existence. Only the royal family knows. Ferdinand turns to the guards. And we are going to destroy it.

But sir, could we not escape? One of the guards asks?

Yes, but we do not have enough time to destroy these and escape. And if Septus gets his hands on these than we will get no where. So we die here, after destroying them. Cicero has a single copy of these tunnels and has traveled some of them. When he rebels he will use them. Ferdinand says. His 17 year old brothers face surfaces in his memory.

The guards understand and begin to rip wires and smash screens, and fire a few rounds into the computers for good measure. As they finish Ferdinand can hear the Talons break into the palace. He orders the guards to prepare a little explosion and sends them into the tunnels after Saski and Iriano. Though they are reluctant, they follow the order. Then the prince settles down and waits.

Ferdinand. His name draws him from his reverie and he stands and sees Titinius standing a few yards away. Pistol drawn. Several Talons stand behind him.

Septus. The prince rises and stands beside the table in the Incident room. A feels the thin wire that he had the guards install and grabs it with his hands. He refrains from jolting. You have won for now it seems. But the Acronese people will not let you rule.

Titinius smiles They will. I am the hero that tore down the king. Your fathers body will hang from the gate by tonight. And yours will join his. As will your brothers and sisters. The man steps a foot closer. Ferdinand tightens his grip on the wires.

No they won't and you will not stand beneath them, for you will burn here. Ferdinand rips his hand up and pins pop from 20+ grenades that were attached to the wires. Titinius's eyes widen and he turns away from the explosion as fire envelops the room.

Minutes later.
Ferdinand lies against the fall. Small fires continue to burn throughout the room. His once handsome skin is now blackened and pocketed by places where it burned completely through and bone shows. Foot steps approach and Ferdinand almost cries as he sees Titinius standing before him. The left of his face is horribly burned and his once immaculate suit his in shreds. His arm bubbles from burns. But in his right hand a pistol is steady. Good try prince, a fighter to the end. Septus spits blood onto the floor and pulls the trigger. The body of the prince jolts slightly and then is still. Men rush down the stairs. The body of the former king Fabius carried between them. Riddled with bullets the once strong king looks almost like a beggar.

It is done. Purge the others. Titinius tells the guards who quickly relay the information to their comrades throughout the city who begin the execution of any enemies. This includes the ADS leader Loki and all of his men. Within a 7 day period the Iron Eagle is in complete control. And the bodies of Ferdinand and Fabius hang from the gates.

I have therefore thought fit by these presents to declare the disposition of Avinaa to observe the conduct aforesaid toward those powers respectively, and to exhort and warn the citizens of Avinaa carefully to avoid all acts and proceedings whatsoever which may in any manner tend to contravene such disposition.
And I do hereby also make known that whosoever of the citizens of Avinaa shall render himself liable to punishment or forfeiture under the law of nations by committing, aiding, or abetting hostilities against any of the said powers, or by carrying to any of them those articles which are deemed contraband by the modern usage of nations, will not receive the protection of Avinaa against such punishment or forfeiture; and further, that I have given instructions to those officers to whom it belongs to cause prosecutions to be instituted against all persons who shall, within the cognizance of the courts of Avinaa, violate the law of nations with respect to the powers at war, or any of them.

In testimony whereof I have caused the seal of the Peoples' Republic to be affixed to these presents, and signed the same with my hand. Done at the city of Rome, the 22d day of January, 1940

Signed by the President:

He stated again that the Army's mission was to restore law and order not help one side or the other. The Government then ordered a further 80,000 solders to New Avinaa to restore law and order in the colony they will aid the 350,000 troops already attacking the Rebel Alliance.

Postby The Gujiyan Isles » Thu Aug 21, 2014 10:35 pm

For years now, the GNC, and its shadowy sixty-member high council has pulled the strings of power in the Gujiyan Isles. Little is known about how these individuals became the head of the GNC, and even less is known about their motives. Rumors abound about the secret lives of the chairmen, rumors born of fear that the council has ulterior motives for their rise to power, rumors of shady dealings with Dekartan politicians, of communist plots, mafia histories, and sanctioned brutality during the war. The people are wary, yet the optimism characterizing the independence movement has not fizzled. Many believe that if the GNC could make Avinaa leave, and now request the formal recognition of independence from the international community, that anything can be accomplished by their fledgling nation. The invasion of Trandosha, while not technically difficult, had boosted public confidence of the GNC more than expected, yet it was not enough. Many in the party want to legitimize the GNC’s claim to power with an election, but some chairmen vehemently disagree. There are many in the GNC high command content with controlling both the police with one hand and the illegal narcotics or arms businesses with the other hand. They have no interest in running for election. The defense committee of the GNC saw this internal strife and decided that they would appoint themselves as the Gujiyan Military High Command, and divorce themselves from the gridlocked decision-making process of the GNC. The defense committee was already used to operating independently, as its members had served as the generals of the different fronts of the Gujiyan War for Independence. The military now operates as essentially its own country, buying land and steel factories, paying the factory workers, building housing developments, and building supporting road and rail infrastructure. Meanwhile, the GNC struggles to come to decisions about governmental structure, constitutional language, and congressional power.

In Trandosha, a major demobilization begins with troops in response to Dekarta’s threatened actions against the Gujiyan Isles (See my military factsheet) The army in Trandosha is instructed to reinforce protection at the border to prevent encirclement by the Dekartans, to evacuate all forces not involved in border protection (border protection forces would evacuate last), and to not interfere with the local militias. Local militias formed in Trandosha in the wake of the invasion as Gujiyan Islanders moved to take advantage of the power vacuum left by the removal of local leaders from their self-appointed positions. The militias generally leave the Trandoshan populace alone, but have built powerful businesses (both legal and illegal) through their coercive policies. These militias have no formal agreement of collaboration with the Gujiyan Army, but there are many unconfirmed reports of the two organizations operating in close communication. It is said that militias provide recon for the army, and will conduct raids on Dekartan positions across the border. The Gujiyan military denies any collaboration with what it calls “ruffian groups” in Trandosha, and says that it does not have the resources to police the entire region. It is uncertain what fate will befall the militias that decide not to move out of Trandosha. It is postulated many will simply relocate to neighboring countries, or try to maintain their existence under Dekartan hegemony. The loss of Trandosha is a blow to public confidence, and many blame the bickering within the GNC. The divide between the military command and the government increases, with both sides further despising the other.

The declaration of war by Anqoraknia brings the efficiency of the military into sharp contrast with the conflict and inefficiency now synonymous with the GNC. While the ferry service between Bhai and Manosh has been out of commission since the rebels reached Bhaloh Island(10 months ago), the military mobilized two destroyers, 5 cruisers, 100 gunboats, 10 patrol craft, and the entire recon air force a mere week after the declaration of war. The Gujiyan Navy is no match for the Acronese Navy, but their purpose is to spot and send Acronese navy positions to the Anqoraknian Navy, and to avoid a fight at all costs, at least at the moment. Coastal defense garrisons are put on high alert. The patrol craft and fast cruisers patrol the Southern Ametse. The destroyers and most of the gunboats head east to prevent any acts of retribution by the Dekartan navy, to protect trade off the Gujiyan Isles’ eastern shores, and to protect ships ferrying evacuating troops from Trandosha.

“The Gujiyan Isles recognizes no claim by Dekarta over Trandosha,” says defense minister Sayith Osind. “Trandosha is the land of our forefathers. The Trandoshans, the Kashyyyk, the Jasimenans, all settled these islands, and the ancient melting pot of the Gujiyan Isles has formed our unique cultural identity.” The crowd cheers. “Dekarta has shown that it is willing to betray potential allies in their lust for power. They may have Trandosha now, but we must let them know that we hold them with the utmost contempt. Not just the government, but our people as well. That is why our navy will enforce an embargo on all Dekartan goods. If Dekarta wants to hide behind their coastal guns, we will let them, and we will let the world judge them for their aggression and paranoia."

Wielka Dolina, Annopol

The war Chramiec and Guiraud had been expecting finally had arrived. This time, Annopol was prepared. Better armed than ever. It would take a long, hard time to reach the capital. The navy was the pride of Annopol, operating over a hundred plus ships armed and worthy of fighting those even larger than themselves. Like Soverith, it was having trouble with its Air Force however, and was forced to used planes shipped from across the ocean.

Coastal defenses were kept in check by the Prime Minister himself, to see to it that any opposing ships, large or small would never reach the shoreline. At the border with Ostmarsh, a 50 foot wall was constructed, and many portions of it nearly finished. It was being occupied by Ionia which several Annopolite Council members considered foes at this time. The nation received more refugees from Tuaador than did Soverith. And from those refugees came stories, of course. They wanted their homes back, for though they were well off, they were not comfortable living like this, hiding away.

Many times that day, Chramiec was tempted to launch an offensive that would liberate Tuaador, but under Guiraud's influence, he had to hold back. For now, until the time was right. For now, he had to be at the ready. All would be prepared.

Piekarska Barrier, Border of Annopol and Ostmarsh

The wall was almost finished. It was as thick and just as tall as the Council wanted it. The workers would be well rewarded for this wall. It reached out to the edge of Annopol in the South, where they had not yet expanded, isolating the country completely. Every three blocks on the wall was a bunker armed with four heavy anti-air guns and two 152 mm howitzers. Grooves in the wall itself were machinegun ports. A daunting task it would be to try and plant any kind of explosive at the foot of the barrier. Not that it would do much damage anyway.

Image

At the coast, the wall obscures any view of the towns and cities behind it.
