Rise of the Eternals
The Beginning

"A hero is born among a hundred, a wise man is found among a thousand, but an accomplished one might not be found even among a hundred thousand men." - Plato

In the beginning, there was nothing. No light - no warmth - only darkness. Energy was present, but it was in chaos. However, as all good things do, it found order within itself. The celestial beings that formed gave birth to light. With light, they were able to forge the stars and the spheres of noble glasses and many minerals. These celestial beings - Life, Order, Power and Justice - were content with the peace that existed around them. Until, during a fateful occurrence before the days of recorded time, they created Kronus: the first physical being to ever live. Realising this skill, the celestial beings went on to create two more physical beings; Iapetus, a "brother" to Kronus, and Theia, the first-born's wife - in the hopes that the two would sire more physical beings.

Kronus was quick to take on a senior leadership role between the three, and with his wits he convinced the other two to join him on a venture of using their inherited powers for their own interests. So, away from the presence of the celestial beings, the three of them brought with them the crucial elements of life - Earth, Water, Fire and Air - from all four corners of the cosmos, and created Terra - home of their future children, mankind. At first, they were full of glee and excitement for their achievement, and were privy to be apart of every aspect of mankind's life. They were adored by their people and they adored them. Kronus and Theia, in the boon of this excitement, sired their son Prometheus. All was well until - after a confrontation between two forming tribes of man - the original physical beings began to realise the extent of their powers and what it could bring them.

Coming to the conclusion that every King needed a palace, Kronus created Avaris - the realm of heaven. Beyond anything anyone could ever dream of, it was a place of pure splendour and riches. Fit for an Emperor, let alone a King. From above, the physical beings - who now recognised themselves as "gods" - looked down upon Terra and demanded tribute from mankind in return for it's protection. Mankind accepted the charges and began to make tributes, be it from their harvest or from their purse. The celestial beings tried to intervene upon their discovery of Terra, but it was too late. Overpowering them, Kronus and his brother, along with Prometheus, trapped the celestial beings in the heart of Avaris - from that point on known as the Celestial Stone. Harnessing their forbearer's powers, the self-proclaimed Gods of Avaris took on new forms: Iapetus became the God of War, relishing combat but stomping out conflict wherever he found it. Prometheus became the God of Order, enjoying mankind's fear of him but disallowing any chaos to ensue. Theia became the Goddess of Beauty, adoring the admiration and worship she received but smiting any woman who so much as challenged her position. Kronus became the Creator, the omnipresent overlord of all things. It was from this point that all things fell apart.

Greed soon began to take hold amongst the Gods of Avaris. As they grew more powerful due to the Celestial Stone, they became more demanding of mankind. Acre upon acre of harvest was consumed, and pound upon pound of coin was seized from the coffers. There was nothing that mankind could do to stop them, and with the celestial beings trapped in the Stone, the Gods of Avaris seemed unstoppable. That was until Azmodan, the son of Iapetus and Theia, was born. Little did they imagine that they'd one day become their own undoing.

Image
Bitter from the birth of an illegitimate son, but unable to remove his brother without his wife's interference, Kronus decided to punish Azmodan for his parents actions. Despite becoming the God of Charity, and thus taking on board all the coin and luxury gifts that mankind offered, Azmodan was bound in chains to the Forge - from this place, Azmodan was forced to do countless days and nights of labour to fix the parts of Avaris which Kronus and the others had begun to neglect. Yet, Kronus's bitterness didn't end there - in payback for his wife's betrayal, the Creator decided to create a new form of life. Drawing upon the powers of the Celestial Stone once more, Kronus created the Shards - similar mechanisms to the Celestial Stone in order to trap the souls of mankind. Once captured, Kronus turned them into 'Angels'. Misguiding them, he led them to believe that it gave them the chance to live beside him and his family as equals. In reality, they were born into slavery.

One of these 'Angels' was known as Silvier. Her previous life unknown, even to the Creator, all he knew was that she was divine - even more beautiful than Theia. In a drunken lust, he demanded her. In an almost shocking act of defiance, she refused. Enraged, Kronus took her anyway. Once he was done with her, he cast her out of Avaris, thinking her purpose to be served and that her existence was no longer required. She fell to Terra in a ball of flame, and yet she survived. How she did so was - and still is - unknown. All that is for certain is that it was a blessing. Found by a Shepard and his family, they took the fallen angel and hid her away in their stable, away from the gaze of the gods who were too fixated on the offerings they received to notice. Under their protection, the angel Silvier was found to be pregnant. What was not discovered until the birth, however, was that she'd sired ten sons:

  • Tellus, the First Son – Aspect of the Earth
  • Horus, the Second Son – Aspect of the Sky
  • Sebek, the Third Son – Aspect of the Oceans
  • Belenus, the Fourth Son – Aspect of Fire
  • Woden, the Fifth Son – Aspect of Ice
  • Vertimus, the Sixth Son – Aspect of the Seasons
  • Vulcan, the Seventh Son – Aspect of Creation
  • Chronos, the Eighth Son – Aspect of Time
  • Hyperion, the Ninth Son – Aspect of the Night
  • Helios, the Tenth Son – Aspect of the Day

What quickly became clear was that these sons had, in some way, inherited the powers of their father. They had become Aspects of the celestial beings, and it was in that moment that Silvier decided that she would remove the Gods of Avaris and restore peace and order to both the physical and divine worlds. Raising her children to the sound of her tone, and hers alone, the fallen angel learned how to tame her sons powers - for they also had inherited their fathers bad traits as well as his good ones. At the same time, Silvier began to befriend mankind, secretly meeting with them and winning their trust. After years of secrecy and preparation, her sons eventually came of age - and with their blood created their own personal Legions - and Silvier won the trust of mankind. The War for Avaris was ready to begin.

Silvier leading mankind against the Gods of Avaris

The Gods were greatly unprepared for what was about to overtake them. Theia was immediately taken prisoner, while Azmodan was relieved of his duties but still kept bound in his chains. Kronus, Iapetus and Prometheus tried in vain to hold on to the palace of heaven, but following an Angel Rebellion under the leadership of the angel Imperius, they were forced to surrender. All bound in chains, man and angel alike spat upon their former overlords. The harvest and coin were returned to the people of Terra, and the angels were given their freedom; allowed to enjoy the pleasures of Avaris alongside it's overseers, not just serve them. Silvier's sons were hailed as the Warlords of Avaris, and as it's eternal protectors, whereas their mother became known to the people of Terra as the Grand Mother. She had given birth to their salvation, and had guided them into a new era. She was as much a mother to all of them as their mothers themselves.

The old gods were tried for their crimes, and found guilty. Still bound in their chains, they were all cast into the newly created pit of Tartarus - the realm of hell. There they were doomed to suffer an eternity of pain for all the crimes they committed. In order to ensure that they could not terrorise the realm of the physical or the celestial ever again, the Grand Mother drew the power of Order from the Celestial Stone, and bended it's will in order to create a spawn of it's twin - Chaos. Casting it out, Chaos filled the void between Avaris and Tartarus, as well as keeping the two realms separate from Terra. It was hoped that, bound in their chains and locked behind the walls of Tartarus, the old gods would be unable to bend Chaos to their own will. It seemed as if they never would be able to.

Yet, as the story has already taught us, this is never guaranteed...

LAZIN

The false god of man, Lazin was once man and now is infinitely superior to one. He was complete control over all around him, complete control over all matter and is literally omnipresent, seeing into the future effortlessly. Yet due to his former status of man he was forever exiled to the realms of man to observe them and become their patron.

It however realising what power it possessed became apathetic to all that happened around him, he let worlds die, children to be massacred and man to exterminate freely. It stalks man always though, watching their progress and never really takes the form of one to ensure that it can never return to its mortal state though it simultaneously maintains the image of one. He becomes recognisable to man in this form and this how he commodities with them. It is nothing more than a black shadow stalking his curse for the rest of time. It is every shadow, it is the curse of knowledge - chaos.

What follows man like a shadow, chaos, always chaos. The disfranchised destruction of war, plague, poverty, riots and more; these are the sins he causes and they will exist until every single man dies from those sins. It always held a grudge against the gods who banished him to a life with man and now out of spite it tries to remove them from power by influencing man's actions in order to replace them. Making sure the best survive his chaos to purify man into a being capable of dealing with the other gods. And he will be their patron.

The consumer of filth and the purifier of man

Ioras, Lord of Winter

Countless centuries ago, long before the rise of Melegus and in the midst the Age of Strife, Lord Ioras of Croftgard was simply one of dozens of warlords vying for control of the Melegean continent. With command of the largest northern port city at the time, as well as one of the strongest armies on the continent, Ioras held a strong position of influence amongst the warring states of Melegus; when word reached him that one of his allies in the Helvetti had come under siege from one of the countless hill tribes, Ioras summoned a Grand Army, with a strength some say numbered 100,000-strong, to his command, and marched north to the aid of his ally.

This was, unfortunately, the beginning of his undoing.

A great winter storm - considered by many to be a portent of the Old Gods' displeasure with the grand undertaking - swept into the mountain passes, cutting off all avenues of escape back to Croftgard and greatly slowing down the movement of the expedition. Temperatures dropped to inhuman conditions, ravaging Ioras' forces before they had even had a chance to reach battle. Constant raids from various hill tribes, appearing when the snowfall was greatest and disappearing before any organized resistance could even be gathered, continued to wither and demoralize the Croftgardian forces; by the time Ioras had reached what remained of his ally weeks later, his once great army numbered barely 15,000 men, and stuck deep in the Helvetti with a rapidly approaching winter and seemingly no escape. Only a day later, scouts from the mountain valleys returned with a grim report: the tribes had unified into a massive horde, and sensing weakness, were quickly marching toward the decimated expedition. With little time to spare, Ioras ordered the construction of fortifications, but little could be done; by nightfall, the tribal vanguard arrived, and the battle began in earnest.

The battle raged on for hours into the night; outnumbered and surrounded on all sides by the seemingly endless hordes of the hill tribes, the forces of Ioras fought on bravely, slaying five tribesmen for each one of their own fallen. Ioras himself, on foot and amongst the thickest of the fighting, slaughtered all but one of the tribal leaders. Crimson blood stained the snow-white mountainsides, and corpses piled up and towered over the heads of the combatants, but still the fierce combat continued without end. By daybreak, the onslaught had finally finished: Ioras and his expedition had survived, but at a ghastly cost. Barely 500 of his men had survived the fighting, and another winter storm had descended upon the few that remained. Snowfall rapidly filled in the remaining passes into the valley, trapping Ioras and his men. By weeks end, those who hadn't been killed in continuous tribal raids had been claimed by the ferocious cold, until only Ioras remained, close to death from exhaustion and frostbite.

As Ioras took his final breaths, he suddenly found his strength renewed; surrounding him were the gods of old, having remained distant for so long. For his ability to lead and vanquish those who stood in his path, they said, he had been given power over that which had felled him; winter, so long the bane of his people and all of Melegea, was now his to command and use for all time. With these powers, he was "free" to unite and command the continent, and bend it to his will. The time had come, they finished, for Ioras to follow his destiny and destroy those who stood in his path.

Yet, rather than using these gifts as the gods had intended, Ioras, considering himself cursed, rather than blessed, by those who had so cruelly abandoned he and his men to a frozen death, did not return to his kingdom to conquer his enemies. Instead, he banished himself to the valley that he had essentially died in, blanketing it in eternal winter and refusing to leave his exile. Expecting a typical mortal reaction to being given divine powers, the gods were both shocked and outraged at the defiance of Ioras, and gave him another "gift": aged immortality, that he might live forever in utter loneliness and despair, before dying after countless eons in his self-imposed frozen hell.

This was not, however, the end for Ioras; wracked with anger and sadness, he waited until the attention of the gods had moved on, before secretly returning to his home in Croftgard to reclaim his wife and family. However, there he was shocked and enraged to discover that his enemies had butchered almost all of his family in his long absence; only his daughter, Lyssa, had survived the slaughter. Consumed with anguish, he unleashed his powers in their full might, devastating the people there and completely annihilating the city, burying Croftgard and all of its inhabitants under ice and snow for five days before coming to his senses.

Filled with righteous vengeance and remorse for what he had done, Ioras took his daughter back to his valley and vowed to be the protector, not the conqueror, of Melegea; using his divine blood to gift Lyssa with his immortality and powers to ensure her safety from the gods, he forged a new kingdom in the depths of the Helvetti, restoring the lives of the 500 soldiers who had survived the final battle with the tribes and thus creating an entirely new race of wintery beings. His mastery over winter and the cold, which he has used to keep Melegea free from outside divine intervention, is matched only by his melancholy over his unfortunate fate.

Cocytus, Lady of the Void

The Lady of the Void has long been a mythical figure in the frosty land of Erjunhuf, her origin a mystery and indeed her very existence often decried as the legends of the communities living closest to the Dead Zone. What is known for sure about the Lady of the Void is her physical appearance, and what can be discerned as possible fact from legend.

The legends state that Cocytus was spawned into being in the Helvetti area of the current Dead Zone, at the time much more hospitable and lightly inhabited. Upon her birth from the Void and deliverance into the mortal world, the nameless being that would come to be known as Cocytus was terrified of her new environment, and had the mind of an animal. As she was born in the middle of the wild, for years she inhabited the swamps and bogs north of the future city of Wolfcroft. As a former denizen of the Void, her own soul was incomplete, and thus she needed to devour the souls of others to achieve true immortality and strength. Countless animals fell to her predatory nature, and in her feral state Cocytus soon upgraded her prey once the beasts of the wild were emptied from their habitats.

This had a terrible effect on the surrounding human villages, depriving their inhabitants of much needed food. The loss of the wildlife led to the villages to band together and send out a militia to figure out the source of the disappearing animals. Unfortunately for them, Cocytus discovered that she could puppet the bodies of sentient beings before she gained sentience, and had a varied collection of different animals, from bears to moose, even fish and some insects. Although they were now mindless, a part of her power kept them alive even without a sentient conscience, and they were susceptible to her will. When she came across a part of the militia, her powerful form, even without the thought processes of a human, was more then capable of incapacitating, killing, and dismembering dozens of the villagers. Before the wounded could escape, she devoured their souls, and this was the start of her operating conscience.

Upon devouring them, her mind coalesced, her brain taking the knowledge from the human souls she had eaten and configuring it into thoughts, ideas, and eventually, a personality. Given her previous mind was composed entirely of animal instinct, her starting human one was inherently predatory and relied mostly on instinct. After warring with the villages for months, and then years, she had cleared out the majority of the Aonair Peninsula and commissioned her army of brain-dead humans and creatures to construct monuments, fortresses, and armed themselves with rudimentary weapons and armor from the forges and workshops of the villages under her control.

Unbeknownst to Cocytus at the time, other immortals existed, and the most important in Erjunhuf, the Lord of Winter known as Ioras, was not amused by her 'divine' intervention on his continent. Finding the devastation she had wreaked on the natural environment and the villagers he considered suzerain to his kingdom now turned into what were essentially zombies, Ioras and his army of 500 immortal soldiers descended upon her realm and the Lord of Winter ordered anyone who had been 'killed' by Cocytus to be exterminated as the living embodiment of her 'daemonic' presence, and the battle began to evict her from the area.

Cocytus was not amused at the discovery of a being seemingly as powerful as her, and as her small legion of followers, animals and humans alike, battled to maintain the independence of her abominable kingdom, she feasted for days on hundreds and hundreds of men, women, and children, turning her food supply into a new army and greatly enhancing her physical power. Under siege, Cocytus lead her new army of cannon fodder out of her castle and into open combat with Ioras and his winter soldiers. Her minions, nothing but fanatical zombies bound to her telepathic will, did not fare well against centuries old, seasoned combat veterans Ioras deployed.

But upon her entrance onto the battlefield, her large physical form and the literal forest of vicious tentacles and appendages she could sprout from her body at whim turned the tide of battle in her favor, even as her own subordinates were cut down. Unable to be killed by this point, the constant pain of attack by Ioras' army and the Winter Lord himself caused her to evaluate the entire situation, and then proceed to attack. The combined frenzy of hundreds of tentacles and her own acquired skills with swords allowed her to duel Ioras on equal footing, and her scaled body allowed her to bear the brunt of the damage. As she seemed to never tire, Ioras ordered his army to retreat and battled her one-on-one for a week, both using the full extent of their honed powers against one another. At last Ioras decided that as she was immortal, she couldn't be killed, and instead sought to imprison her. Luring her into the mountains as they battled across the landscape, Ioras summoned a localized hypercane that completely obliterated and wiped out the entire peninsula, and unphased abandoned the battlefield.

Cocytus, never before facing such horribly cold temperatures, or an opponent capable of surviving her presence, retreated into a chasm that grew only larger as the storm went on. Ice blanketed every inch of the Aonair Peninsula, resulting in the current state of the area as the 'Dead Zone' of Erjunhuf's north. Retreating deep into a glacial chasm, Cocytus continued to travel deeper underground in the system of ice caverns and massive underground cave complexes. When she couldn't roam any further, she burrowed and carved a new home for herself out of the ice and rock and settled down in the darkness, believing that she couldn't survive on the surface of the world any longer.

The legend continued with the actions of Markus Dagorin, a man not from Erjunhuf, and indeed it is not know where he supposedly came from. Having traveled through the region during Cocytus' reign for unknown reasons, he would become her mortal adjutant, overseeing the technical aspects of her brief kingdom while she continued to amass the knowledge herself. During its destruction he had luckily hid deep inside her castle, and when he returned to the surface found it completely torn from its foundations and pounded to dust. Trekking through the horrid icy conditions and the blazing wind, Markus believed himself a goner as he walked into the blizzard. Continuing on, he didn't understand why he hadn't been frozen to death, and he continued to walk deeper into the storm, only to fall through the ice into the very chasm his Lady now inhabited.

When he awoke, he discovered that Cocytus was cradling him in her four humanoid arms. Feeling terrible for trying to abandon her, and realizing over the next few days that he was now linked to her power, Markus could not bring himself to leave his new master. She was perpetually alone in her new lair, and he sought to bring her happiness for allowing him to live. Thus, with his body healed and imbued with some of her power, giving him unnatural strength and resilience, and his aura strengthened to survive moving through the horrible conditions of the Dead Zone, Markus would spend the next centuries working as her assistant, bribing, kidnapping, and tricking travelers and scholars, traders and hunters to go with him to the chasm where he often said vast riches were hidden. After years of pretending to be an expeditionary, and leading hundreds, possibly thousands of humans to Cocytus, a small community of like-minded individuals, that either Cocytus or himself had chosen to serve her, had formed and declared itself the Cult of the Void.

The following is from a journal found by a survey expedition near the city of Wolfcroft, translated and dating back to the 13th century AD, and one of the few direct references to Cocytus.

"The journey to Her lair was cold, and arduous. Numerous times I found myself having to replace my shoes with burlap from my shawl, and the climate was not good for life whatsoever. Nowhere did I see animals, or plants, and the perpetual snow in time began to burn my eyes and make me miss my home in Melegus. The man in charge said he could convince Her to let me on as Her scribe as she would supposedly do with the other members of this expedition, and now that the university had dismissed me as a fanatic for believing in the power of Gods, I had no real options left. When we finally arrived we had descended miles through twisting, confusing tunnels carved by what could only be a very strong creature. Some were clearly made by Her followers, with rickety plank bridges across bottomless ice falls, while others were more bizarrely constructed of bones held together with a form of sludge that reminded me of wax from its smell and texture.

When we finally arrived at Her temple, the so-called Temple of the Void, it stood stridently inside of a larger domed cavern, with stalactites of immense size and stalagmites of equal stature surrounding it, carved from within and now housing Her followers. The temple itself looked like an igloo of granite, a dome within a dome, intricately decorated with bones and the living but mindless bodies of her followers impaled onto the ice, their constant bleeding giving it a sickening brown color and a stench beyond that of even a corpse. As I entered inside, I was horrified and shaking, but made sure to keep my visage as pleasant as possible so as to not offend Her.

Entering the throne room, I immediately noticed the long black cords all over the floor, that the cultists all around were sure to not step on. I followed suit, and as my eyes followed them up to the source, I set my eyes upon Her, Cocytus. Her eyes locked with mine and I made sure not to swallow the knot in my throat, her yellow eyes had no irises or differentiation, and I was unable to tell if she was looking into my eyes for sure, but could feel an overbearing willpower colliding with mine. The aura in the room was awkward for
those few seconds, before she rose on her tendrils and towered above everyone else. She stepped forward, one tendril lifting the leader of our expedition up, and she spoke with a voice that was a whisper, yet seemed like it was screaming right next to my ear. She asked who we were, and why we were of any importance to bring back.

The man revealed his real name to be Markus, and he told her, with his hand pointing at me for emphasis, that I was the only useful one. The rest of my travel companions were standing still with fear alongside me, and I made sure to step to the side away from them. She dropped Markus to his feet, and moved so swiftly that she became a blur as her tendrils propelled her towards the group. The next thing I knew her mouth was agape and row after row of shark-like teeth were revealed, her head otherwise humanoid, but along her back and down beneath her waist was beyond human as well. Her forearms were similarly scaled and had small tendrils that coiled around them, but otherwise the rest of her upper body looked human, ignoring the pallid color of her skin.

When her mouth opened however, I was not focused on her looks, only on the orb of darkness that spawned into existence above her tongue, which then fired what looked like lightning into their foreheads, an orb burnt into their skulls and they fell back to the ground, convulsing with seizures as their very souls were wrenched from their mortal bodies. With a snap of her jaws, they slowly began to stand again as she slithered back to her throne, in my head I could hear Her beckon for me to follow, knowing my name without asking. I followed her obediently, glancing back only once at these now soulless automatons standing still as their possessions, even their clothes, were taken from them by her followers. As I followed her we turned a corner, and entered her private chamber.

My bag full of scrolls and ink was snatched from my grip by one of Her tendrils, and behind me the door of bones slammed shut with an immense echo. Cocytus turned and brought her own face to my level, lounging on a wide bed of animal and human pelts. She thanked me for bringing her new material to read, and for having dedicated my life to knowledge. Over the next few hours I learned that despite her frightening appearance and her unsettling diet, she was a woman who thirsted for knowledge, and she wanted me as her teacher. She had no name at this point, and weeks after my acceptance into her community of followers, she appeared one day from her chambers and declared herself Cocytus, and returned my copy of Dante's Inferno to me. I was proud to have her as my master, and she ordered for me to return to the surface and bring back more reading material. Bestowing me with my own defensive aura, I followed the path to the surface that I had come to memorize, and began to trek back to civilization.

Alas, I am stuck here, pinned beneath a boulder. I know my death, when it comes, will be arduous, but I wanted to ensure my experience with the Lady of the Void would not be lost because of my own misfortune. So I write these words to tell my story.

GOD OF THE ORDO DIVINI DEI

Lord Kagan as cultists of the Ordo Divini Dei called him is a mythical being from the lands of Mahdah. Kagan was said to be born in pre-historic times somewhere in central Mahdah. The Ordo Divini Dei was a cult organization started when it was said that when Kagan was born, he was a god sent by higher forces in Heaven to rule over the earth and protect it from demons and other threats to Humanity. When Kagan was a middle aged man he was brought into the Order by his fellow friends who were in the Order. He was declared divine by the order and rituals and worship occurred with him being center stage. When he mysteriously died toward his 50th birthday his soul was taken to the heavens where he was reborn into his actual form.

His physical appearance had become god like with large muscular chest and shoulders, his entire body was transformed. The armor that he was given to wear was said to be blessed and made by angels that were expert in armor making and warfare against demons and other spawns of hell. The sword he was given to fight was 'Sword of Holy Terra' which was said to be blessed and crafted by Silvier's son the aspect of the earth. When he was put back on earth he found members of the Order and they were extremely amazed, they proclaimed him the Emperor of Mankind and secured a swath of land and called it theirs where they would worship him. When the wars between Alkharanians and Mahdavian's began his divine soul was there to guide soldiers of Imperial Mahdavian soldiers defeat their opponents and win battles. Kagan is now the oldest lore in Mahdavian history and historians have found clues that may have evidence Kagan had walked the earth.

During his many battles with Chaos he was visited by Silvier a former angel and a divine god in Kylarnatian lore. She granted him the title of "Protector of Terra" . Many times Kagan has teamed up with the Aspect of Earth in battles against a variety of enemies. Kagan is said to continue to travel the earth and possibly other planets to fight demons who pose great threats to Earth.

Tāne Mahuta, Lord of the Forest has origins which goes millennia before the footfalls of man was felt on soil. The son of the Sky Father Ranginui and Earth Mother Papatūānuku. The union of his parents however, caused him and his siblings great and continual anguish. There tight embrace left no room for any of there children to do anything, and after untold years letting the annoyance fester, they finally decided that their parents needed to be separated. Yet try as they might his siblings could not shift them, and thought that their death was the only other option. Tāne however convinced them to let their parents live, and he would separate them. Placing his feet on his father and his shoulders on his mother, he pushed with all his strength, and with the assistance of his siblings who hacked at their limbs their embrace was finally broken, despite the wailing of there parents.

Since that time long ago Tāne has spent his years ensuring the cultivation of his dominion, the innumerable plant life across the planet. It is said that Tāne was the individual who created man from there earliest times. He has been content with his role, and despite his despair at the deforestation occurring across the planet, he has taken an oath not to interfere with the affairs of mortals. He has spent eons watching them in an almost paternal fashion, always feeling responsible for their welfare and conduct. He feels much pain at what they inflict on each other, but his oath prevents him from interfering. They must be allowed to take their own path is his thoughts. Yet he takes great pride when he witness genuine affection, caring and so forth for other individuals or peoples. Now he spends his time as a massive Kauri tree, keeping an eye on his dominion and its inhabitants.

Tāne has never being a being of elemental power. Although he can make forests grow within seconds if he so desires, he is not like his brother Tangaroa, who could call upon the power of the sea to aid him in battle, nor like Mahuika who can send wildfires burning all in her path. He has no desire to possess such easily abused power. He has but one true power, his mighty strength. Recognized as the strongest of his siblings for breaking apart his parents, he can, if he wished, move mountains with little effort, shift rivers with no concern, move cities if he so wanted without affecting him.

Lord of the Forest

Tāne Mahuta

Colonel Crontor

In 1997, a crack commando unit was sent to the jungles of Beblis to hunt down and eliminate the leadership of a terrorist cell that had been carrying suicide bombings against Crontorian targets in the Imperial Federation. Landing in Union City in the Colonial Union of Beblis, they set out through the war torn island to capture their target amid the ongoing violence between the Colonial Defense Force and the long running insurgent groups clustered around the Beblian Democratic Liberation Front which oversaw and led the various militias. Their target was located far into the jungle and so the team was forced to prepare for an arduous journey into the bush. The mission began abruptly when one of the two Blackhawks was shot down on their way to drop point and the other was forced to land and begin the mission early several dozen miles from the stated origin point.

The team soon found themselves lost in hostile territory and without CDF support as they had been promised. Efforts to locate and rescue the stranded squad were unsuccessful as the entire rebel held area had become a hotbed of activity that resisted all attempts for search and rescue missions. One by one, members of the mission began to die as the squad of commandos fought off increasingly powerful waves of enemy fighters, until only one remained. That commando, a Colonel Evan Christiansen, fought through teams of enemy patrols alone and managed to fight his way into the enemy headquarters, slaughter everyone inside, and escape back to friendly territory alive. For his actions, he was awarded the Crontorian Medal of Honor and touted as a national celebrity.

Those in the Ministry of Defense realized that they had a perfect candidate for their Crontorian Super Soldier Program. An effort that began in the early 1980's, the Crontorian Super Soldier Program was an effort to create a class of super soldiers far superior to any soldiers fielded by any potential enemy of the Imperial Federation. The program had created a serum, which was aimed to greatly improve the intellectual and physical capacity of the planned super soldiers. Recent tests on animal subjects had yielded impressive results, and the decision was made to enter Colonel Evan Christiansen into the program and try him as the first Super Soldier. The result was an overwhelming success, to the point when administration of the serum was made illegal by the Cranico administration and all those involved in the project arrested and imprisoned by the CPSOU. Colonel Crontor, as he was now known, had unparalleled intelligence, physical strength, and agility. He fought off hordes of Crontorian special forces sent to challenge him in combat and displayed an aptitude for strategic planning and fighting. Colonel Crontor was the perfect soldier and immediately was assigned to top secret missions on behalf of the Crontorian government, working closely with the CPSOU to administer justice to Crontor's enemies, at home and abroad.

Immense nationalism, physical strength, and never before seen intelligence all came together with Colonel Crontor who soon went out to forge his own weaponry, namely, two lightsabers, one orange and one blue derived from the crystals he located, these colors of course being the national colors of the Imperial Federation. Ready for any enemy facing the Imperial Federation, Colonel Crontor is here to stay for a long time.

After talking with Onekawa-Nukanor, it has been agreed that Rise of the Eternals will continue as planned. The roleplay will begin this weekend, at the earliest.

Seeing as it happens in Sondria, are your 'gods' going to be nationless?

No. Seeing as I've actually agreed to continue my canon relationships with several Sondrian nations - although I now no longer canonically own a colony in Sondria - Kylarnatia obviously still exists, and we have extensive trade and diplomatic ties with the region. Onekawa asked if we could continue with this setting, and I had no problem with doing so. :)

So your characters would be from your Gholgoth mainland, invading the Sondrian domains?

No no. Remember, this is a) non-canon and b) mythological - these guys are going to spring out in Sondria (in spots already agreed upon back in the early stages of discussing Eternals - I'll run it past everyone again though of course. I also have the perfect place to start in Emperor Myric, which I have permission to start from, so long as he sticks around).

Mirenne, the Champion of Telraina

Mirenne was believed to be the daughter of the High Emperor of Heaven in Proto-Telrainan Mythology. Mirenne was abandoned to die on Earth as a young infant when the Gods of the Underworld and the Seas feared her prophetic abilities. She was found by the Empress of Lauthenian Empire, who took her in and discovered her abilities. Mirenne grew up as a headstrong woman, joining the military at the age of 17. In her life in the military, she was taught in the art of combat, mastering swordmanship and archery. When the Lauthenian Empire fought the Crowwlindian Empire, Mirenne was commanded a legion that was among the slaughtered in the Battle at Charon. Feeling a great sense of failure as a general and her country, she attempted to commit suicide to save her honour. However the Archangel Lucius saved Mirenne, revealing to her that she is more than the daughter of the Emperor of Lauthenia. Archangel Lucius was revealed to be watching over her entire life in secrecy at the direction of the High Emperor of Heaven. Mirenne returned to her homeland a celebrated individual, only to leave it with Lucius as they travel across Telraina. Lucius also gave her the twin-bladed daggers, the Disciples.

At the same time, the God of the Underworld began supporting the southern Crowwlindians to besiege the weakened Lauthenians, who the High Emperor is believe to favour. The God of the Underworld did not directly engage the Lauthenians but sent his general Marius, to aid the Crowwlindians as they ransack Lauthenian cities. Lucius was ordered by the High Emperor to return Mirenne to Lauthenia in order to command the Lauthenian Legions. The generals of the Lauthenian Legions were skeptical about the abilities of their princess at first, but the Lauthenian victory in the legendary Battle at Kirell was proof to the generals that she is capable. Under her command, the Legions turned the tide of the war. Eventually, Marius was defeated at the hands of Mirenne in the Battle at Lendell.

Angered by the victories of the Lauthenians, the God of the Underworld approached the God of the Seas. Together, they decided to revolt against the High Emperor, exacting their anger towards the Lauthenians by inflicting them with powerful tsunamis and earthquakes. The God of the Underworld shattered the face of the Kochkar Mountains, sending the armies of the Underworld to besiege the Lauthenians as the God of the Seas stirred the oceans to form storms and tsunamis as well as shatter the ocean floor of the Pearl Sea, revealing the Kraken. Mirenne instructed the beleaguered Legions to engage the armies of the Underworld as she sends the Imperial Navies to engage the Kraken. Mirenne personally led the Navies to engage the Kraken. It was proven to be a difficult battle as the Kraken can wipe out two squadrons of ships with his tentacles alone.

The High Emperor became infuriated at the continuing revolt of the two Gods that he sent his legions of Archangels to support Mirenne. In a dream, he instructed the Lauthenian Emperor to make peace with the Crowwlindians. In the end, the Crowwlindian King agreed that the war with the Gods cannot be fought by the Lauthenians alone and sent their armies to support Mirenne. The support of the Crowwlindians turned the tides of the war, with their navy Mirenne was able to defeat the Kraken and capture the God of the Seas, ending the never-ending storms. She then focused her attention to the God of the Underworld, using the combined armies of Telrania to defeat the armies of the Underworld. In the end, the God of the Underworld was captured and was brought in front of the High Emperor.

The two gods were stripped of their powers and were transferred to the High Emperor. When given an offer to join the High Emperor in Heaven, Mirenne declined the offer, deciding remaining on Earth with her loyal friend, the Archangel Lucius. Today, it is believed that Mirenne and Lucius travel across Telraina, protecting its people from harm.

Name: Mirenne
Origin: Unknown, first appeared on Earth in Lake Reed beside the Kochkar Mountains in the modern-day Paraksani (Historically part of the now-extinct Lauthenian Empire.)
Gender: Female
Age: 5300 years
Specific Power: Speed, Flame conjuration
Underlying abilities: expert blade and archery combat, veteran army and naval commander, immortality, accelerated healing.

Well, seeing as this has thus far gone nowhere, I'm willing to run this if everyone is cool with that (obviously with a slightly different plot).
