Downtown New Mesja City, Federation of Allimos
1135 Hours
"This is Bravo 2-3! We are under heavy fire!" An Allimos soldier screamed as he ducked behind the Dongfeng EQ2050 and cocked his Type 81. The small convoy consisting of three Dongfeng EQ2050 Humvees, carrying four soldiers each, and two Dongfeng EQ2102 Multipurpose Trucks, carrying 6 soldiers each, on a routine patrol in the wartorn Federation of Allimos.
RPG Fire, mostly from the Type 69 RPGs fired from the nearby hotel buildings, razed one of the EQ2102s and threw a few of the troops hiding behind it away. The convoy had been ambushed by an insurgent force, which was keen on establishing a Christian Theocracy after Allimos declared that they have begun dealings with the neighbouring Islamic Republic of Gealsun. The Christians made up around 47% of the population while the rest was Islamic. This is where the insurgency began. Both sides, Allimos and the Christian Insurgents had similar weapons, Allimos having a bit more modern weapons.
The soldier turned from the Chinese-built Humvee and fired off a few rounds before he ducked back into cover before 7.62x54mm rounds from an entrenched Type 67 Light Machine Gun raked the position the soldier was just at.
"Bravo 2-3, this is Bravo 2-2 Charlie, we're en route with an IFV to support you." A reply came.
More rounds were fired as two soldiers from the convoy, one carrying a Type 81 LMG ran into the store behind the convoy to set up. Rounds sprung after them as a few soldiers continued to return fire. As the soldier peeked out again, he looked up at the destroyed Holiday's Inn hotel, and saw the glint of a weapon.
"Hey!" He looked back to where the MG team went, he saw one of their faces as they set up. "Contact! Second story building! Hit it!"
The man with the Type 81 nodded and cocked the weapon before he began firing. The remaining Allimos troops on the street began reloading their weapons and gathering themselves. Around 9 Allimos troops were dead, and judging from the sounds from the destroyed truck, three were wounded.
The Allimos soldier cocked the Type 81 again, checked his magazine and looked over at the burnt out EQ2102. A soldier was there, screaming as he clutched where his right arm used to be, now just a severed bone and blood everywhere.
"Eskel!" The soldier shouted to one of the humvees. "Cover me!"
"You got it Hellis!" The reply came before Type 81 fire erupted from the humvee, hitting the side of the hotel.
The soldier, Hellis, got up and sprinted to the EQ2102 where the wounded soldier whined in pain. He glanced up, blood trickling from his mouth and burnt skin all across his face. His once young face was now scarred. Hellis offered his hand before Type 56 fire raked the truck again. He ducked and the wounded soldier squinted as rounds pinged off of the charred metal.
"Go!" The soldier shouted. "I'll be fine!"
Hellis nodded, picked his Type 81 back up and leaned out in the open, firing off a few rounds before ducking back in.
"Frag! Frag!" An Allimos soldier called out as he chucked an RGD-2 Frag Grenade into the hotel.
It exploded with a Type 56 flying outside after the explosion with a hand still attached to it.
Hellis looked back at the MG team and nodded. The Type 81 LMG unleashed fire as Hellis called over to the remaining infantry to advance up to the hotel. As they were entering it, an insurgent laid in the corner with his Type 56 pointed at the door.
"Get away you Islamic scum!" He screamed before firing off a few rounds at the door.
Hellis motioned for a frag to go in and soon a live RGD-2 Grenade was tossed in. Another explosion followed and the troops entered. Inside the lobby, a few dead bodies of civilians lied around with baggage tossed everywhere. The troops continued upwards, on the staircase, finding more dead civilians and two dead insurgents, most likely hit from the Type 81s. As they reached the top a panicked insurgent turned around to face them. The troops popped him, five shots. As he collapsed another insurgent ran around the corner. He panicked and dropped his weapon and surrendered. As the troops continued, they grew weary. Soon, Hellis was looking at the ruined convoy from on top of the hotel.
"Bravo 2-3, this is Bravo 2-2 Charlie, pulling onto 23rd Avenue right now. Holy shit." The radio sparked as a Type 97/ZBD-97 IFV pulled onto the road and six troops got out, weapons at the ready.
"Bravo 2-2 Charlie, area secured, no signs of the insurgents. I think they booked it." Hellis replied as he sat down. In the end, they had lost 10 troops and had 2 seriously wounded. The soldier who had sent Hellis away had bled out when he was inside of the hotel.
