Oh yes, the Colors.
Welp, they look terrifying enough and it'd be fun to try and resist an invasion. Who knows, in the end they become a permanent addition to the ecology there though a mercilessly hunted and feared one.

Mhmm, though as per usual I think I'll maintain the invasion as a primarily host strain one. Such a massive gathering of purestrains, being the strange matter beings they are, causes the decay of nuclear matter around them. They have a natural field of entropy, so to speak.
You can blame G-Tech for telling me that, heh.

Population of the entire structure is about a trillion really, average density is incredibly low.
The total surface area is about six hundred trillion miles squared, so that would amount to a citizen every six hundred square miles, though because population density increases around areas with cities, towns, villages, mega-cities and so on you could a lot of leftover space that's not being used.

*blink*
By Damballah's grace, that's. . . amazing.
Such a massive concentration of souls, in the eyes of the Thousand Faced God, shines with the brightness of a thousand hypergiant stars.
Like moths to a lightbulb, Rainbows-of-Dusk would converge on it from every direction. Your ringworld would pick them up as giant masses of. . . nothing. Stars go dark as they pass near them, planets disappear in moments. The sky grows black as the salivating masses come ever closer.

Am I correct in assuming that the invasion is supposed to fail? If so, to what extent? I would like to know in advance so as to better plan and prepare, ensuring a satisfying end for us both.

I feel like this is sarcastic. In my defense, the Great Swarm of Damballah is more than capable of diplomacy, trade, and peace. It just seems as if no one ever wants to be nice to them.

Well, the invasion would progress in two or three stages I imagine; the space-based combat, the landing upon the surface(s) and the ground/naval/air combat is possible that entails and then the ending phase would be the the growth and spread is halted with your invasion force restricted to a substantial but ultimately insignificant portion of portions due to the scale of the Ringworld.
Then your people partially infuse with it's sub-structure and communicate directly with the mind-state ushering in a new era of peace (a ceasefire) then we can go forward unto other stuff in the future.
Yalos, don't forget the enormous star-encircling structure home to hundreds of billions of individuals about to be swarmed/invaded by those all-consuming God-swarms.

So just so I'm understanding, the Swarm will at least partially overwhelm your defense fleet, land on the surface and begin invading, the invasion is forced into a stalemate, and a peace is reached with a portion of the Ringworld colonized by the Swarm?
Sounds fine to me.

No, this really isn't sarcastic at all! I love it!
Everywhere we go, there's a major sense of impending doom. It's the best thing ever!
Also, I'm sure the House of Augury, or perhaps the ensuing anarchy of remnants and revolutionary states (provided the rebellion succeeds) will be more than willing to make trade arrangements and agreements if it ever comes around to it. Just no eating us.
