Allrule Chancellor Election

Postby Allrule » Thu Nov 05, 2009 10:08 pm

Allrule is, in ten days, holding the federal elections. After a recent decision by the Voting Council, foreign nations may cast their votes in the election so citizens can see whom the world favors. This may or may not have an influence on the election. You may vote and explain why you picked the candidate you did, or you can just vote. Either way is fine, but an explanation would help quite a bit. Something to note:Since the founding of Allrule, the Social Democrats have held both control of the Chancellery and the Presidential Office.
Image
Frank-Walter Kohler(Incumbent)-Social Democratic Party(Sozialdemokratische Partei)
Frank-Walter Kohler came to power after the previous Chancellor, Julie Clark, was assassinated. He has been continuing the policies of his predecessor, which gave the economy a much-needed boost after the disastrous term of Christian Democratic Union Chancellor Mirkatz Klein. He runs on a platform of more civil rights(he promises to legalize incestuous marriages if elected), stricter regulation of businesses, and more economic growth. If he were elected(note that since he come to power by succession due to assassination, he has never been voted in) he would make history by becoming the first German-Allrulian to be elected Chancellor.
Image
Andela Verckel-Christian Democratic Union(Christlich-Demokratische Union)
On September 24, 2004, the Christian Democratic Union made history by electing its first female leader. Promising to rebuild the CDU after its disastrous term under Mirkatz Klein, she runs on a platform of recriminalizing incest, more deregulation of businesses, and more tax cuts to help the economy.
Image
Gasbi Zimmer-Free Democratic Party(Freiedemokratische Partei)
The Free Democrats are considered the libertarians in the bunch. Gasbi Zimmer is continuing that history, promising to boost civil rights, radically deregulate businesses, give high tax cuts, and cut social welfare. Currently in a coalition with the Christian Democrats.
Image
Oscar Schoreder-The Left(Die Linke)
The Left is generally considered to be a more extreme version of the Social Democrats(i.e. communists), fighting for extreme regulation of buisnesses, high taxes, and large social welfare benefits. However, on social issues, they would be considered very conservative, fighting for recriminalization of incest and homosexuality, imposing strict penalties on non-atheists, a ban on Christianity, and "mercy killings" of those with disabilities.

Breaking News!

Allrule National Party(ANP) Formed

Today, at 5:54 PM tonight, a right-wing nationalist party known as the Allrule National Party was formed by a faction of Christian Democratic Union members who felt that the party was not doing enough to promote Allrule's superiority in the world. Led by Adoph Hutler, the party advocates a wide number of right-wing views, including criminalization of homosexuality and incest, banning all non-Christian religions, a one-party dictatorship, and a ban on communism. In the party's manifesto it states that it is "the one true party that will return Allrule to grace and superiority in this world, which the pathetic Social Democrats and Christian Democrats refuse to do." The faction that departed from the CDU made up roughly one percent of the electorate.

After about 2 hours of Polling Our nation decides to give Full support to the Incumbent,
Also a recent underground Nationalist Party (they are seriously called that) has interrupted a Supreme court assembly and boldly (and loudly,) announced it's plans to assassinate Adolf Hutler via "Reverse Analitiotic Embernment," what ever that's supposed to mean,.....

This has been Channel 64 News Break.

Breaking News!(again)

Election will be held early

Breaking news has come in that the federal election will be held early, on November 11. The election was to be held on November 15;however, Chancellor Kohler spoke to the Federal Diet(Bundesdiat) and declared that the election was to be held on the eleventh. This has gone relatively well with voters, 55% percent saying they have no problem with this decision, 35% undecided, and 10% saying it was a bad move.

Chancellor Liam Barnes has publicly thrown his support behind Ms. Andela Verckel. While he doesn't necessarily agree with some of her positions, he finds Mr. Kohler's position on incestuous marriages irreconcilable.

New Olwe isn't exactly fond of the idea of marriage either, but we still support Mr. Kohler due to the otherwise progressive nature of his policies.

Goias is officially non-interventionist, but the political establishment is overwhelmingly in favour of Verckel. It's mostly the whole incest thing that determined this.

Message from the Republic of Grand France

France would be most likely to support, and get along with, Andela Verckel. We feel she has some of the best ideas for her country, and would also curb Mr. Zimmer's radical plans.

President Mireille Lévesque

In the face of many nations' disagreement with his promise to legalize incestuous marriages, Chancellor Kohler has recently announced that he would no longer support such a policy at a Social Democratic rally today. To quote:"I have recently recognized that many nations disagree with my promise to legalize incestuous marriages. As such, my party will no longer support the policy. Civil unions are a possibilty, though I would not be likely to support such a policy if I were to be re-elected.

With Election Day nearing, the parties have been particularly active in their get-out-the-vote drives, staging rallies all across the country and multiple provinces. All of the polls indicate that the Social Democrats will be returned to power with a solid majority(The latest poll showed SDP at 43.2%, CDU at 30.7%, Free Democrats at 16.8%, The Left at .65%, ANP at 1.22%, and Undecided at 0.1%). The Christian Democrats have relaxed their attacks on the Social Democrats after Chancellor Kohler's speech late last night. Meanwhile, Andela Verckel has announced her intention to withdraw from the CDU/FDP coalition due to the fact that she considers Mr. Zimmer's policies "too radical for Allrule; absolute free-market capitalism is impossible to obtain in a civilized society like ours. Mr. Zimmer has remained valiant, saying that he will forever uphold the policies of free-market libertariansm and capitalism. Meanwhile, The Left has taken a large hit in the polls, most likely due to its authoritarian tendencies on civil liberties. The ANP did get a slight benefit from this, though they are not poised to win much seats in the election. Good night, and good luck.

Despite the fact the polling seems to be over, I still wish to express my nation's support for a certain candidate. We would support Andela Verckel, as we feel she would be the most likely person to bring peace and true prosperity to Allrule. "Good evening, I'm Jeremy Thaxter. For weeks, we've watched the politicians slugging it out together. Tonight at last we hear the voters voting as they tell us who's won. If the opinion polls are borne out tonight, we're likely to see one of the biggest landslides since the Christian Democrats were swept out of office when we were still a German colony in 1886. It is at any rate going to be a very very exciting evening. We're at all the places that matter-the constituency of Stad-Cudhaven, where Chancellor Kohler's Social Democratic club is located, the Christian Democrats in Hudnigton, and the Free Democrats in Rhine. We'll be calling the party leaders, we'll be at the party headquarters, we'll be at the key marginal seats where the battles are being fought, and people are discovering whether they've lost or won. In a moment when the polls close, I'll bring you what I really promise is the last poll of this election-our exit poll based on talking to people today as they came out of the voting booths and said how they cast their vote. The last poll, that is, before we add up the real votes. All through the night, politicians will be coming here and be called to account by Angela Thatcher.
"Yes, over the next eighteen hours, we shall have a succession of victors vanquished and walking wounded up here to explain what went wrong, what went right, and what happens now in their respective parties. We'll be joined in a moment by Gerhard Westerwelle, the Secretary of Defense, Mirkatz Klein, and David Kohl, the Vice-Chancellor."
"And here-"-he pointed to a deck filled with people at computers-"all the results are phoned into us from across the country. We don't jump the gun, we wait until the returning officer has announced them. We're not even going to guess the very safest seats, and when the facts are marshaled, they're given to Helmut Steinmeier, our political analyst, who will illustrate what's happened on the battlefield."
"Yes, Jeremy. I'll be illustrating this battle in a more adventurous and inventive way than we've ever done before. Now of course the battle will be won or lost in these key battleground seats-"-he turned to a screen behind him, which was displaying a list of close seats-"all red in the last Bundesdiat. Social Democrats defending themselves against the Christian Democrats, the Free Democrats, the Left, and so on. And...how many of these seats will SDP manage to keep red tonight, the Christian Democrats turn blue, and the Free Democrats gold? In the contest to cross Clark Street and open the door to number 20. As the results come in, we'll be looking at the hows and whys of this election, and looking to see whose picture will be there on the stairs of number 20 above Julie Clark's and Frank-Walter Kohler. Will it be Frank-Walter Kohler again...or will this space be occupied by Andela Verckel? Jeremy!"
"Thanks for that, Helmut. And as Big Ben strikes eight, the polls close. We can give you the results of our exit poll. We've spoken to 456 million people in 300 constituencies tonight. We hope they've been telling us the truth!"
BONG!"There it is, eight'o'clock, and we say Frank-Walter Kohler is to be Chancellor, and a landslide is likely. Reaction from Stad-Cudhaven already, up there on the left, the SDP club...all applauding there. Christian Democrats...rather more somber scene. So, here are the details. Frank-Walter Kohler to be Chancellor, and this is why. Social Democrats, 47% of the vote. Christian Democrats, 29%. That would be the worst result not just in a century, but if you care to go back that far, to the CDU vote in 1933, when Otto Wels was defeated by Adolf Hitler."
