To: The Illegal Ohankaist Regime in Anglynova
From: Anti-Communism Alliance

”Paramont Leader” Dominic Hewitt,
We must express our thorough contempt and disapproval of your illegitimate regime. On the 17th of November 2012, you launched a coup d’etat that included the murder of the near-entire Anglynovan General Assembly. By the end of that faithful day, you oversaw the enslavement of the people of the island archipelago of Anglynova under an oppressive, tyrannical, and evil totalitarian regime of imported Ohankaism from the Far East.
The Anti-Communism Alliance condemns your regime for its actions and conduct every since. Reports have reached the international community of your thuggish and murderous ways; indeed, the populations of religious persons have been nearly wiped out during your paranoid purges of Anglynovan society. Your embrace of discredited, failed, and oppressive state socialism and government-directed central planning adds insult upon the injury inflicted upon the Anglynovan people by the forces under your command.
The actions of genocide, tyranny, persecution, and utter, wanton destruction make your regime unfit to govern, if you were not already an illegal entity. The legitimate, elected, democratic government – whose leaders have luckily fled the reach of your forces – will be reinstated as the leadership of Anglynova. We have no illusions you will not agree to such a request, so we will enforce it ourselves. Your government will not last the month.
Effective immediately, the international community – led by the Anti-Communism Alliance – hereby declares a state of war exists between the illegal occupying regime in Westforde and the global community of nations.
Regards,

Lord Joseph Hansdann, New Belhavian Foreign Minister

To:The Republic of Hippostania, The Imperial Empire of Castille de Italia, The Second Republic of New Nassrau, The Kingdom of Divitaen,Theocratic Republic of Transnapastain, The Grand Arctic Federation of Dakini Femina
From: The Empire of New Belhavia

Friends and Allies,
The time is upon us. The Prussians have authorized my government to lead a joint-ACA military task force to Anglynova to enforce our efforts at regime change there and to reinstate the legitimate government, which has been deposed and reorganized in its exile as the PGRA (Provisional Government of the Republic of Anglynova).
I would like to be the first to congratulate you on agreeing to contribute forces for our most noble mission against the dark tyranny of another Stalinist tinpot dictatorship.
Further information, instructions, and other matters will be issued in further diplomatic communiqués. Your expeditionary forces are to sail to Jarrenton Naval Base in Jarrenton, New Belhavian Far East Territories. From my Empire’s colonial holdings there, we shall disembark to retake Anglynova.
Safe travels, and, as always, to victory,
Sincerely,
Admiral John Warren, Field Commander, ACA Task Force – Anglynova (TFA)

To save time, I RPed each player's commander and a deputy being present. I was purposefully vague so that you can describe your character(s) as you'd like to. The gap between the communiques (November 25th) and current time (fast-forwarded to December 12th) is to reflect a realistic time-frame of logistically organizing a large fleet and ground force and deploying such units in the field.

11:22am, December 12th, 2012,
Jarrenton Naval Base,
Jarrenton, New Belhavian Far East Territories (52.6 miles South of the Anglynova Island Chain),
Base HQ,
Admiral's Conference Room

Fleet Admiral John Warren clasped his black gloved hands tightly at the small of his back and glanced through a full-length glass window at the galvanized, busy military base below. The building he was in - Base HQ - was located at the top of a nearby hill that overlooked the spread-out layout of buildings, docks, and the crystal-blue bay that the Jarrenton Naval Base called its home.

Directly ahead, each warship or vessel of the 5th Fleet was at its assigned dock, sailors and crewmen loading supplies, pushing barrels of ammunition, or otherwise preparing each ship for launch. The vessels of war from the other ACA powers were docked at auxiliary stations, or patrolling benignly about in the bay. Between the long docks and the collection of squat buildings that made up most of the military facility, long, weaving columns of Imperial Marines - of the 144th Regiment, to be specific - marched toward their transports. All of the Marines wore their forest green fatigues, black boots, and lugged gear and other supplies on their back, assault rifles slug over their shoulders, as they purposefully made their way to their ships. Occasionally, trucks or forklifts could be seen delivering larger parcel packages of supplies to a docked warship.

Smiling at the bustling to and fro of thousands of men below, in and around the warships, feeling the collective excitement for duty and danger, Warren turned and stepped up to the solid, though elderly, wooden conference table. Next to him, Commodore Richard Perry - the young, rising star in the Navy dubbed 'Minister Perry' by the senior brass behind his back for speculation he would be made War Minister in a few years - was hunched over gesturing at the map of the Anglynova Islands. Perry was Warren's second-in-command. Next to him, also leaning over to study the topography, was Colonel Jay Wayworth, a seasoned veteran of the Marines who was in his mid-40s and known as a 'gym rat'. Closer to Warren, watching the duo with interest, was Captain Fitzgerald, another mid-30s rising star who had earned the right to be the commanding officer of one of the fleet's finest and modern battleships - a real honor indeed. Known as "Boy Scout", for his uncompromising by-the-book morals, Fitzgerald looked like the quintessential good-looking New Belhavian boy. He could have walked out from a recruiting poster. He commanded the Endeavor, the 5th's flag ship. To his left was Air Commander Mark Northmen, the gruff and ever-cynical F-22 Carrier Air Group commanding officer for the 5th’s two super-aircraft carriers, the Johann II Adrian and Nicholas Adrian.

At the other end of the table, the senior mission commander from each of the other ACA forces – the Nachfolgian, Hippostanian, Castillian, Elysian, Nassraunian, Divitaenian, Transnapastain, and Dakinian – stood firm, their deputy standing behind them, their collective gaze watching Warren as he prepared his debriefing.

Warren cleared his throat loudly and watched as the other ranking officers turned to regard him.

"Gentlemen." he acknowledged with a crisp nod to each, "Welcome to Jarrenton Naval Base. I am Admiral John Warren, C.O. of the Imperial 5th Fleet and overall mission commander of the ACA Task Force – Anglynova. To save time, let us refer to it as ‘TFA’ going forward." He took a step forward and picked up a vanilla-white folder marked 'Operation Arctic Storm’, sifting through a few documents before closing the folder and picking up an elongated pointer, as if a professor tapping a PowerPoint from afar. Perry adjusted a knob on the projector, and a map of Anglynova appeared.

“The TFA’s mission shall be known as Operation ARCTIC STORM. Our tactical objective is the overthrow of the illegal Ohankaist regime based in the Anglynovan capital, Westforde, and its entire eradication as an entity. The subsequent objective will be the institution of an occupation authority to oversee Anglynovan affairs while the PGRA is restoring their public institutions to be able govern once more."

In his left eye's periphery, he caught notice of Brendan Carr. A former Imperial Senator, Carr - his salt-and-pepper coiffed hair just so, his politician smile perfect, his blue pinstripe suit screaming colonial viceroy - stood off to the side. He would be heading the ACA occupational authority once the regime fell and Anglynova was under full ACA control.

Colonial viceroy he will be...Warren mused, as he shifted his attention back to the assembled commanders.

“The TFA’s operations will be commenced through the following sub-operations. In four hours, we will be logistically ready to initiate the campaign.

“To begin is Operation AIRTIGHT. A full, complete, and effective naval blockade. Before all of you,” he gestured placating to the other ACA commanders, “Are folders with your assigned quadrants. Your naval assets will take positions as outlined to complete this objective.”

He tapped the pointer on the map of the islands, drawing an imaginary circle around them.

“We calculate that this will take sixteen hours to initiate. Once in effect, you are authorized to deploy all force necessary to enforce the blockade, including armed engagement with any PDRA fleet elements. Any trading vessels or other merchant or non-military ships are to be stopped, and, if from abroad, allowed to sail home unhindered. Any ship attempting to break the blockade, or originating from the indicted Anglynovan waters, are to be seized, and their crews detained until the end of conflict. No ships are allowed in or out of our quarantine.

“Next is Operation DAWN, the implementation of a full No Fly Zone (NFZ) by our aerial forces over the Anglynovan islands. We will be working with PGRA Republican Army guerillas and our own special forces to knock out all anti-air assets - both mobile and fixed on the ground - so that our fighters have full air superiority.

“Thereafter is Operation HOMERUN, a coordinated naval and air precision-bombing campaign to soft their defenses up, which leads us to…”

He paused, hoping to build up excitement. His piercing blue eyes scanned the room.

“Operation KNOCK-OUT, a simultaneous invasion of all PDRA-controlled islands, with the goal of defeating the PDRA military forces and capturing of the regime’s leadership.”

He let out a breath, his eyes glancing around at the room at the silent officers.

“Any questions?” he offered.

It was to be the first task force the Empire would take part of on behalf of the Anti-Communist Alliance. The senior commanders of the operational task force, the First Joint Invasion Force, was Commander Gaius Cadinius, and Admiral Joseph Young. The odd thing was, normally citizens from the Deseret Province weren't allowed to hold a senior military position, as stated by the both of the two recognised churches in the Empire, The Roman Catholic Church, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, on accord of the Imperial-Deseret Compromise, which made any Mormon within the three designated provinces of the Empire immune to the Catholic Inquisition. Young was the first Latter-day Saint to hold a senior military position in the history of the Empire. Cadinius, on the other hand, was one of many Catholics to serve their country, and command a Legion, most particularly, the 1st Legion. That's quite an achievement.

It was a bitter, cold day up near the Arctic Circle, as Anglynova was rather far up on the globe, distant from the equator. The wind sent chills through the officers via an open window, some fool had left open. Taking initiative, Cadinius walked over and shut it, much to the happiness of the other commanders. He then walked back, and leaned over to Young, who was looking through the dossier. "Ask him what island we're invading." the commander told the admiral. "It says right here. We're to..." "Just do it, or I'll have you tried." Much to the dismay of the Admiral, he cleared his throat, and spoke up. "Excuse me, Admiral Warren, what islands are we to invade, as it does not specifically state who is assigned to which, unless I have missed it." The following sound was Commander Cadinius' choked laughter as he tried to contain his bad sense of humor. The rivalry was tense between these two, not because of their Imperial Legion vs. Imperial Navy routine, but of their two very distant religious ideologies.

"Why did I listen to his stupidity?" the young admiral thought. He pretended not to be embarrassed as the Commander pointed out where exactly the briefing of the invasion, like he was paying attention the whole time, like he wasn't thinking about the nice island of desserts in the officers galley of the flagship of JIF-1, the supercarrier Emperor Titus Valerius I. Truly, there was diversity among the Castillian Task Force ranks.

A younger Castillian officer raised his hand hesitantly. "Excuse me, Admiral Warren, what islands are we to invade, as it does not specifically state who is assigned to which, unless I have missed it..."

His voice trailed off. Warren frowned, his serious expression apprehensive and unsure.

"The whole of the Anglynovan island chain, excluding Coggston," Warren deadpanned. Perry scribbled a note furiously on his notepad. The other Castillian choked back laughter.

Perry slid the note over to Warren, who read it. "Ah," he exclaimed, understanding. "No, landing zones on the islands have not yet been determined." His eyes darted to the Castillian commander, who was still struggling to contain himself.

Yes, he's the one who closed the open window...he glanced at Carr, instantly irritated by the former politician's arrogant smirk.

He glanced around at the other commanders, anticipating more questions to be asked.

The People's Democratic Republic of Anglynova
Official Communique

To: The Anti-Communism Alliance
From: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Greetings,

On the 17th of November 2012, the Anglynovan people took the steps necessary in order to commence the People's Revolution and establish a unified, socialistic society. On that glorious day, the Anglynovan people were immediately freed from their economic and cultural shackles. The Revolutionary Socialist Party has a mandate from the people, and hence a duty, to protect the progress of the Revolution.

Your accusations are baseless and unfounded. The People's Democratic Republic of Anglynova does not advocate the slaughter of undesirables. You will find that all undesirables, verily, traitors to the Revolution, have sought refuge in Coggston, the so-called "People's Republic of Anglynova." Accusations of genocide are intellectually dishonest and are fabricated for the sole purpose of harming the Revolution.

Your flagrant refusal to adhere to international law is most pitiful, and the People's Revolutionary Liberation Army—nay, the whole of Anglynova—will be eager to defend the headquarters of the revolution at all costs. We are certain the cost will be negligible.

Regards,
Harold Demeter
Minister of Foreign Affairs of Anglynova

11:45 am, December 12th, 2012,
Dolanstead Farm,
Westforde Island, Anglynova (10 miles north-west of Greencove),
Anglynovan Republican Army (ARA) Greencove Brigade

Like the wispy breeze cutting briskly through the morning air, members of the Greencove Brigade moved quickly along the tree line bordering one of the many farms that dotted the Anglynovan countryside. With each step, Colonel Liam Walsh imagined himself slipping on the frost that had coated the forest floor during the night. Their running was rhythmic; the footsteps of the men behind him seemed to synchronize with his own footsteps when he allowed his mind to stray and mingle to the bigger picture: five dumb animals running through the forest, caught up in an age of reason that wasn't seeming very reasonable to them.

The farm was barren now. What was likely its last harvest was probably pretty good considering the regime didn't torch the farmhouse, barn and granary in the distance. Or the owner of the farm gave himself to the fervor of Ohankaism.

Stop. His body could not move any longer, as if his mind suddenly went on strike and was refusing to operate until the meat-bag otherwise known as Liam Walsh complied. "Hold up, men." Liam Walsh raised his left fist and crouched on one knee, his AKS-74 rifle now slung over his right shoulder. The ground between the tree line and the farmland began to dip into a ditch, the first change in geography for what seemed like miles. Walsh silently noted the tire tracks and spent shell casings that littered the ground. In the distance, one could mistake them for glistening frost.

"Sir?"

A rush of emotions overcame Walsh. They had found it, they had finally found it. While at the same time, he had hoped he had never found it. He had hoped that his task force could return to General Dudley Scott, second-in-command of the Anglynovan Republican Army, and tell him that the burial site didn't exist. That it had been exaggerated by the locals. That it was actually the carrion of some slaughterhouse.

But they had found it.

"God in Heaven." The soldier immediately behind Walsh collapsed to his hands and knees, trying his best not to vomit. The more time Walsh had his eyes open, the harder it became to close them or turn away. At the same time, everything in the pit of his stomach was telling him to bolt, to run, to get away and bury his head away. It was sick mesmerization. He couldn't believe it, but there it was. Arms and legs intertwined, blank faces staring up through a measly layer of soil thrown on top. But the gales had blown it away. Corpses piled on top of each other like a landfill, like unneeded refuse and detritus thrown by the wayside.

"We're here to document this." The men had a sense of resolve and immeasurable sorrow spelled on their faces. They had been randomly selected to go on what they thought was a routine patrol, but they understood now. They couldn't understand how the international community could stand by and allow Anglynova to continue on as it was, to allow genocide to take place, unless the international community wasn't aware.

They would be aware soon enough. They wouldn't be able to deny images of the atrocities. Although the regime had banned all internet access, the AGA had managed to establish some transmitting towers to relay cell-phone signals to the Provisional Government in Coggston. They were easy to track, however, and they were likely to be discovered by the People's Revolutionary Liberation Army soon enough.

Jarrenton Naval Base,
Jarrenton, New Belhavian Far East Territories

Vice Admiral Henry Ulrich had always been a cynic. It was his firm belief that those who failed to learn from history were doomed to repeat it. He also felt the old axiom regarding what came around, and where it returns to, was one of the fundamental principals of the world, as intrinsic to its function as gravity.

He was also firmly convinced that, in the days ahead, no one involved in the mission to Anglynova would doubt him when he expressed these thoughts.

Transnapastain's first operation as part of the Anti-Communist Alliance came far quicker than those in Subrosa believed it would. There were many in the capital who left that this was not the Republic's fight, that they should allow this battle to pass. Many more, however, remembered Galvenston; the sick and the dying. Many citizens, from common soldiers to powerful politicians, remembered the mercenaries, acting on behalf of the Anglynova government, as the committed atrocity after atrocity, piling the war crimes as high as the dead in the mass graves later discovered by advancing forces. Letting the carnage build and build, culminating with the use of biological weapons against civilian targets.

Those who remembered recalled that they had not sat idle once. Admiral Ulrich, after hearing news of the bombing committed against Parliament of Anglynova on November 17th, had no reason to believe Transnapastain would sit idle again. Ulrich, himself, had not been idle during the first crisis and did not intend to sit out the second round. He had picked up his phone and requested transfer to “whichever fleet assigned to bring justice to Anglynova a second time.” The fleet adjunct he spoke to then w as befuddled. But had promised to log his request,

Thing had happened quickly. The Office of Foreign Affairs, shortly after the attacks, had received word of an impending ACA action to be taken in defense of the remaining government in Anglynova; the Provisional Government of the Republic of Anglynova. Executer Alwin had signed off on an order authorizing troop deployments to assist this effort almost immediately, activating the Fifth Fleet and pulling the Tenth fleet from its duties in the Seabelt, sending the newly christened Seventeenth Fleet to assume its duties in the Pacific buffer between the Directorate and the world. The Fifth Amphibious Assault Battalion, the most seasoned landing force in the Army, was immediately activated and assembled in record time, along with the Fifth Fast Reaction Force. The entire task force, with Ulrich at the helm, was ready to set sail a startling 27 hours after the Executer had ordered the activations. Even as they departed, Intelligence had advised him that the Executer had further authorized the activation of LVI Crops, which would take several weeks to fully mobilize.

Once, Transnapastain was roused, she moved quickly to fell her fores. The forces of Anglynova had learned this once, to their sorrow. It seemed a second lesson was in order.

As he glanced around the conference room he now found himself in, at the assembled officers in a myriad of uniforms, representing nations from around the world, united in purpose and strong in resolve, he nodded. At least this time we won't be going it along.

He snapped his head back to the front of the room as the ranking officer cleared his throat, obviously preparing to address the assembled officers.

As the man, whom he recognized form his intelligence packet as Admiral John Warren, spoke the projector mounted behind him came to life emitting a soft glow on a blank screen before being replaced by maps of Anglynova; the same maps Ulrich had studied once before, and ones he had been pouring over since the news first broke. He smiles thinly The projector isn't as fancy as the 3D imaging systems we use back home, and on the bridge of the Divine Right, still, it gets the job done, and thats all we need.

He let his mind drift back to the task at hand as Warren mentioned the bound folders laid out on the confrere table before the assembled officers. Reaching out to retrieve it, he broke the security seal with his thumb, but did not open it. Instead, he passed it to his aide, Lieutenant Commander Seino, who immediately began scanning the documents into his tablet, transmitting them to Ulrich's device as he went.

A voice from close by spoke up, softly asking which islands had been assigned a landing targets. He turned his head slightly and identified the speak; a young officer of the Castillian Imperial Navy. Ulrich glanced at his tablet, but did not see the information; clearly Senio hadn’t made it that far yet. Warren seemed somewhat vexed at the question, while the other ranking Castillian officer attempted to stifle a bout of laughter. Ulrich let his eyebrow arch slightly, unsure of what dynamic was occurring, but nothing it, filing it away for possible future use.

As Warren stated the landing sites had not yet been assigned, Ulrich raised his hand to speak. After being recognized, he turned his gaze to Admiral Warren and asked

“Sir. If the landing sites have not yet been established, I assume, then, only the combat ships will be moving to the blockade zone? Assuming that, are the landing ships to be kept here, or at another staging area? It occurs to me that it may be prudent to keep them out of range of enemy anti-ship fire until needed. At only 16 hours distance, they can arrive and begin operations when we are prepared.”

he smiled, leaning back into his chair slightly “Also, speaking of anti-ship fire. What do our collective intelligence departments tell us about Anglynova's ability to harm our ships with shore launched, or even ballistic launched, anti-ship missile? Do we have positions for their naval forces?” Simply speaking of anti-ship missiles made Ulrich flinch inwardly, remembering the missile cruiser Credence, lost in the Straights of Helluva to a camouflaged Brazulian anti-ship battery. It had been the biggest naval disaster in Transnapastaini history. Another ship, the Credence II, was part of Ulrich's command, and he had no desire to see that ship suffer the same fate as its namesake.

“As to enforcing the no fly zone, are any other nations committing land based air assets? I know the Air Fleet has activated a wing of fighter/bombers, particularly with SEAD missions in mind, and air dominance fighters to supplement my carriers birds. In addition, Air Fleet Command has activated a wing of-” he glanced at his notes “B-118E1 bombers to assist in long range bombing of targets, in anticipation of a mission akin to the parameters of operation HOMERUN.” He paused “They are flying out of a Directorate Defense base in Licana, making for a somewhat long trip to Anglynova...though not as long as if they were flying from Home.” A keen listener would notice the stress the Admiral put on the word. “This is not really an issue for the bombers, but the fighter pilots will have a hard time of it, as will the AWACS crews and refueling craft that accompany them, logistically speaking. I heard you say that we were not intending to land on Coggston; is the PGRA fully in control of the island? Can we land aircraft there?” Ulrich was not only thinking of the NFZ enforcement, but also of the oncoming invasion. “Transnapastaini A-36's will have a long flight ahead of them if they are forced to fly out of Keller DAB, slowing down response times and limiting CAS ability. ”

To: Illegitimate foreign socialist forces occupying the Anglynovan archipelago

It is the duty of every civilized nation to do their part in the fight against the red-menace. As such, as the High Chancellor of Hippostania it is my duty to inform you that in accordance with the mutual defense policy of the Anti-Communism Alliance, a state of war shall henceworth exist between the Republic of Hippostania and the entity called "the People's Democratic Republic of Anglynova".

I promise you that the righteous forces of the ACA liberate the Anglynovan people once more from the shackles of illegitimate Ohankaist regime. Assisting them will be troops from all branches of the Hippostanian Armed Forces who will triumph victoriously over your demoralized foreign mercenaries. The war criminals who caused this unnecessary bloodshed shall also be punished to the full extent of the law for crimes of treason and genocide. Beware, you do not have much more time.

Colin Townsend, High Chancellor of the Republic of Hippostania

Jarrenton Naval Base, Belhavian Far East Territory

The Hippostanian task force had just arrived in Jarrenton after a long trip through rough seas. Flying from the mast of all ships were two flags of courtesy; the blue-white bicolor of the Republic of Anglynova and the gold-red flag of New Belhavia. Though the troops were now enjoying their free time, socializing with each other and playing football on the helicopter decks, they knew that this wouldn't last very long. They already knew their target, the People's Democratic Republic of Anglynova that had been taken over by left-wing rebels a few weeks ago. The soldiers, all of whom hated communism with passion were poised to re-take the islands. They were all hoping that their platoon would be the one to raise the Hippostanian tricolor over Westforde.

The ultimate responsibility for the Hippostanian part of the operation was divided between two officers: Commanding officer of the Hippostanian naval operations was Admiral Matthew Baughman, while General Harland Dunn was responsible for land operations. Though both of them were over the age of 60, they were nevertheless experiences soldiers who had decades of experience both in the Army and Navy. Right now, they were meeting the other officers in the Operational HQ, looking at the presentation made by the New Belhavian Fleet Admiral John Warren.

After the presentation had ended, Baughman hesitated at first but then decided to ask a question: "I'm General Baughman of the Hippostanian Army. If I may ask, why are we not planning to land any troops in Coggston as well? As far as I know, Coggston is under a communist single-party regime as well.''

Jarrenton Naval Base, New Belhavian Far East Territories

“Excellent questions, Admiral Ulrich.” Warren replied evenly. “Through our allies in the PGRA, we know that the PDRA possesses no cruise missiles or anti-ship ordinance. The PGRA's intelligence assets buried deep in the Westforde regime confirm no ordinance has been ordered or shipped in the intervening weeks since the November 17th coup.”

“The staging area will be Coggston Island, which has the necessary room, infrastructure, and other critical factors from which we will station our combat troops and landing ships until Operation KNOCK-OUT. Furthermore, our Forward Operating Base (F.O.B.) will be established there.

“A limited land-based air contingent will be deployed at Grunwald Air Force Base on Coggston. If you interested, Admiral, in deploying aerial assets there, please speak afterward with Air Commander Northmen,” he gestured casually at the brooding New Belhavian Air Force officer to his right, "and the Castillians, who, I believe, are planning to introduce their own land-based air power as well.

“The PDRA’s rather decrepit navy is concentrated on Westforde Island at their major naval base in the capital city, Westforde. A few patrol ships and destroyers are dispersed throughout the island chain, but even the collective power of their entire fleet could not pose a challenge to a single quadrant of our blockade.”

Warren paused, his frown deepening as the Hippostanian commander interjected. "I'm General Baughman of the Hippostanian Army. If I may ask, why are we not planning to land any troops in Coggston as well? As far as I know, Coggston is under a communist single-party regime as well.''

Warren shot an annoyed look toward Carr. “The situation on Coggston is rather…delicate. I will allow Senator Brendan Carr, the head of this mission’s political affairs and who will be chairing the Transitional Administration Authority in the post-regime occupation, to speak on this.”

The pair passed each other, the tension in the air between them visible even to the foreigners through the clenched jaws and evident dislike shown by each man to the other. Warren had never forgiven Carr, then the second-ranking member of the Senate Armed Forces Committee, for using him as a straw-man to make a political ploy against President Goldman. The obnoxious sociopath had berated the admiral for a quarter hour on competence and officer professionalism. Warren's hands tensed at the very thought of that hearing.

I utterly loath politicians...the worst, I say...Warren mused to himself.

Carr stepped up to the podium and gazed at the assembled commanders.

“Commanders, as the good Admiral just noted,” he said facetiously, a sneer just-ever-present on his thin-lipped smile, “the situation is quite delicate."

Warren glared at him with lethal intent. A nudge from Commodore Perry made him cognizant of this, and he let his eyes moderate toward mere disinterest. My vendetta against Carr is none of these foreign officers' business.

“This past July, Anglynova underwent an attempted communist revolution. Though the elected government defeated the communists, as part of the peace settlement, the communist forces occupying Coggston were allowed their independence.”

Rolling eyes, sneers, hushed taunts, and snorts emitted from the various ACA officers.

“Yes, yes,” Carr acknowledged, his tone sympathetic. “However, during the Ohankaist coup, the PRA – People’s Republic of Anglynova, as the regime on Coggston calls itself – allowed the PGRA leaders and other refugees to seek sanctuary and use Coggston as a base to reclaim the main islands, operating under the illusion that once the PGRA is reinstalled in Westforde, a 'one country, two systems' type of political arrangement would be struck, thereby allowing Coggston back in as part of the Republic of Anglynova but to continue as a system of state socialism.

None of us are happy about these series of events,” Carr warned darkly, “But we must make do for the time being. As military men, I expect you know this already. The PRA is, for all intents and purposes, our temporary ally. Have no fear, though, General. I assure you that their existence after the defeat of the PDRA regime will be handled appropriately.” A sinister smile finished off his last statement.

"Thank you, Senator." Warren cut in. The fucking blowhard would keep speaking all day if he could...

Carr nodded curtly, a contemptible expression hinted under his politician smile. "Of course, Admiral. This is, after all, your mission." The pair passed once another as Warren walked up to podium, a slight triumphant smirk on his lips at watching the former member of the New Belhavian Imperial Senate retreat to his perch against the wall.

Ulrich nodded as Senator Carr ended his explanation of the political situation on Coggston. As with the byplay that occurred between the Castillian officer earlier in the briefing, the animosity between Admiral Warren and Senator Carr was not lost to Ulrich. He knew he had no business taking sides in a conflict he was not even, and more than likely did not want to be, involved in, but found that he was eying Carr with more suspicion than he was sure than man deserved. He realized he was unconsciously siding with Admiral Warren due to the bond their shared as men of the sea.

“Thank you both for the information.” said Ulrich, “I am, however, concerned that we are nominally allied with a nation representing similar ideals to the enemy we intend to combat. I have no doubt we will put paid to the PRA's accounts in due time” he continued glancing towards Carr, “in the meantime, however, can we trust them? It seems to me their left-leaning position would make security a nightmare, staging form here seems to be risky, with spies, even sabotage of our vessels and equipment becoming a real possibility. Have there been any thoughts given on how to mitigate these problems, beforehand before they bite us?”

He glanced towards the burly Air Force officer the Admiral had indicated “On the subject of establishing a rapport with our colleges in the New Belhavian Air Force, we will certainly do so. I'd prefer to have my air boss, Colonel Rosario. Represent my command, lets let the flyboys communicate in a language they understand.” Ulrich tapped on his tablet “I'll ensure he makes contact with the appropriate officers at once. For the time being, we'll have to make due.”

Admiral Young, this time, had a legitimate question, one not forced unto him by religious intolerance. He cleared his throat, and spoke real loud, not as hesitant as he did before. "Admiral Warren, what is the nature of the facilities on Coggstan Island, and will they have enough room for Senior Air Marshal Tiberius' forces, approximately forty large bombers, and about one-hundred fighter aircraft, all arriving when the island is captured. Is there more than one airfield, and how much of the Anglynovan forces are concentrated there?"

It was a question of utmost importance to the operation, as the Castillian forces were to rely heavily on air support, mainly bombing runs on heavily fortifed structures, which could not be taken out by attack helicopters or engineers, in the case that heavy armor hadn't already rolled ashore, and would make the fight easier for each and every Legionnaire to wade onto the beach.

Just then, a knock came on the door, and a tall, older officer, wearing a much more upscale dress uniform than his two associates, obviously returning from a special occasion, stepped in through the door. It was the Senior Air Marshal, Augustus Tiberius, one of the most feared and respected military generals in the history of modern conflict. He was responsible for the genius bombing runs in United Tiberia, during the Reunion War, and the deaths of several thousand Tiberian citizens and soldiers alike.

"Sorry that I am late, gentlemen. My helicopter just arrived from the Empire, most specifically, the funeral of our Emperor."

Though Marshal Jeong Man-Sik was normally somewhat apprehensive towards having to sit in a briefing room choked by cigarette smoke all day, such a feeling had come from what had to be entire days of going over the various ways of war with much older officers who preferred to light up over battle plans. Marshal Jeong was a rarity among Imperial officers: for one thing, he was only in his early forties whilst most officers of his rank were upwards of fifty to sixty years old. Jeong was also a nonsmoker, which, in his mind, made him the black sheep of the twenty-seven million men and women of the Imperial Guard. He humorously imagined what statues of Imperial military heroes from their present day would look like: they'd all have to have imitation Cubans and cheap Marlboros dangling from their dour lips.

Thankfully, none of the men in the room had decided to light up something to smoke and, by extension, give Jeong a headache. His subordinate Generals also seemed polite enough to take note of that little fact as well, as none of them were puffing away behind his back.

The troops of the Imperial task force-which alone was large enough in numbers to equal the military of a third-world country-were squared away on the ships, quartered in cargo bays and areas that were normally reserved for Marines traveling on board. More than half of the task force would be held in reserve in the Belhavian Far East. The rest were to go into the meat grinder. Jeong himself would carry out the orders that Lord Governor-General Kim himself had given: prove the Imperium's worth to the alliance. And as a means of accomplishing that objective, Jeong was determined to play an instrumental part in the fighting that would ensue.

As Warren settled himself behind the podium once again, Ulrich raised his hand to ask follow-up questions. He nodded for Ulrich to precede, and the man issued his concerns.

“Your due diligence is to be commended, Admiral Ulrich.” Warren replied after the last question was asked. “But I assure you no non-sense will be initiated by our PRA…associates.” He couldn’t bring himself to call communists ‘allies’. It made him want to retch. “It is in the PRA’s best interests to oversee the restoration of the PGRA over the whole of Anglynova. Trust me; we have reliable intelligence that the PRA has reluctantly embraced us, but that they stand to see that our mission is successful. Your concerns are duly noted, though.”

Ulrich continued in reply to address Northmen and talk about ‘flyboys’ settling their issues among themselves.

“I whole-heartedly agree,” Warren murmured as Northmen nodded in approval.

Ever in the bad mood, isn’t he? Warren inquired lightly of Northmen.

"Admiral Warren, what is the nature of the facilities on Coggstan Island, and will they have enough room for Senior Air Marshal Tiberius' forces, approximately forty large bombers, and about one-hundred fighter aircraft, all arriving when the island is captured. Is there more than one airfield, and how much of the Anglynovan forces are concentrated there?" The younger Castillian officer – Admiral Young, was it? – spoke up.

Warren chuckled at the irony. “Yes, Admiral Young, the Grunwald Air Force Base on Coggston can accommodate twice that number. It was, in fact, the second-largest air force facility in Anglynova before the July Revolution.”

The other nodded in response. He opened his mouth to speak when a knock came on the door, and a tall, older officer, wearing a much more upscale dress uniform than the other two Castillians, stepped in through the door. Warren recognized him from the intelligence dossier as Senior Air Marshal Augustus Tiberius, the genius behind the innovative bombing tactics in United Tiberia during the Reunion War. A legend, almost. He was talked about as the modern-day Sun Tzu in ACA military circles.

"Sorry that I am late, gentlemen. My helicopter just arrived from the Empire, most specifically, the funeral of our Emperor." He began warily, his tone diplomatic.

“That is not a problem, Marshal Tiberius.” Warren acknowledged casually, waving an indifferent hand. “As the proud son of an Empire myself, I understand such things. The death of one’s sovereign is a sad and distressing event, indeed. Please, be seated by your colleagues. I am sure they will update you on what I've presented so far concerning Operation ARCTIC STORM.”

The Nassraunian Mission Commander was Othello Vittorio. Othello was a man who did not choose being a senior commander origionally. As by his first name, Othello was more into the arts. He had always had a knack to play chess. Of course, in school, his strategy, and planning in many of his classes was noticed by the headmaster. The headmaster then gave him a special kind of test. The government gave him a military strategy test. It was a miracle, Othello scored near perfect on it. Thus, Othello knew from there the military was his life. He soon went to the prestigious Wellington Military University and after a few year, became a Senior Mission Commander. Othello listened intently. This was all very new to him. Sure, there were many simulations at his academy, but this was truly it. He would lead the outstanding New Nassraunian fleet into the blockade and possibly action! Othello thought up many scenarios of the blockade in his mind... yes... he was that kind of person.

Alas, as the meeting was going on, he listened to the other Senior Mission Commanders, but kept to himself. Instead his Deputy broke in. His Deputy was Angela Rezo. Ms. Rezo did not have such a privileged life as Othello. Instead, after having lost her job as a secretary in the financial sector in Sapphire City, she had nowhere to go but the military. Being in a coastal city, she went to the naval academy. Alas, after many years of trial and error, she eventually became deputy to a commander whom she thought was high class and absolutely ridiculous. She didn't know how wrong she was... she spoke.

"Well, this is indeed very good information, however, I would like to know where New Nassrau will commit its forces to this mission."

She looked around at the other men and continued

"Also, I would like to know the protocol for civilians... as all of you may know, these islands are indeed crowded, and I am sure we'll commence heavy bombardment on the cities and sites..."

As Tiberius found his seat, a crisp woman's voice spoke up. "Well, this is indeed very good information, however, I would like to know where New Nassrau will commit its forces to this mission," the deputy of the New Nassraunian commander said inquisitively as she scanned the room for dissenting opinions. "Also, I would like to know the protocol for civilians... as all of you may know, these islands are indeed crowded, and I am sure we'll commence heavy bombardment on the cities and sites..."

Warren nearly died on the inside. A woman...in military command. He shook his head. He was of the old-school of thought that promoted women outside the military.

Bowing to reality, he nodded politely and in a more gentlemanly fashion. "Ma'am..." he started, before he remembered her name in an epiphany from when the officers introduced themselves prior to the meeting. "Lieutenant Rezo," he corrected quickly, a paternal smile of patience on his face. Woman must be treated with kid gloves, his long-dead military academy mentor had commented drily before Warren's graduation. Decades ago. "Thank you for your questions.

"First, your quadrants and mission assignments throughout ARCTIC STORM are in your enclosed folder in front of your senior commander," he noted with a touch of condescension, masked as an innocuous reply. "To answer your second point..."

His monotone voice trailed off as he paused momentarily. Gathering his thoughts as his sharp blue eyes glanced absentmindedly at the ground, he looked up and turned to regard his fellow ACA senior brass. "New Belhavian military protocol is quite specific on this point: no targeting of civilians. Though this is an ACA mission, admittedly, and not one of my government's own affairs, we will, nevertheless, honor such policy while the TFA remains under New Belhavian authority.

"Terrorists, guerrillas, insurgents, and others, however," Warren was quick to add, raising a finger to emphasis his point, "Are not categorized as civilians but as enemy combatants, and will be treated as such. All bombing will be precision-structured and only military and political facilities and related such targets will be affected," he said firmly, lest anyone doubt his military credentials.

12:00 pm, December 12th, 2012,
Westforde,
Westforde Island, Anglynova
Office of the Revolutionary Socialist Party of Anglynova

The sounds of bulldozers piling rubble onto streets between buildings, workers toiling away as foremen shouted orders, and propaganda vans blaring revolutionary music distracted Dominic Hewitt briefly as he gazed from a narrow window in the office of the Revolutionary Socialist Party—formerly the town hall. One of the few buildings left relatively untouched during the coup, on Hewitt's own orders.

The Westforde skyline seemed bleak. Buildings, some skyscrapers, stretched as far as the eye could see. But they were mere shells of their former selves; charred by fire, ripped open by tank shells. Fortified with sandbags, rubble and barbed wire. Westforde wasn't a city, but a fortress from which the Party could direct the Revolution.

General Ewan Rhodes, Minister of Defense of the Revolution, and General Noah Croates, Vice-Commander of the People's Revolutionary Liberation Army, sat casually in ornate leather chairs, immaculately dressed in officer attire. Each had a chest coated in medals and ribbons "earned" since the start of the revolution. "Defender of the Cause of the Ohankaist Ideal," awarded to Croates for ordering the Hehran section of Westforde be occupied and converted into military barracks. "The People's Medal for Gallantry," awarded to Rhodes for single handedly directing troops to surround and capture escaping textile workers who would be sent to a labor camp for "education in the virtues of Ohankaist thought."

"And what of the civilians, sir? Are we to evacuate them to the countryside, organize them into collectives? Send them to work in Greencove? We have likely recruited all that are willing able for the National Militia." Rhodes had little de facto power, but both Rhodes and Croates were members of the so-called inner circle. Few could have known that making friends with Dominic Hewitt would pay off so heavily. Among them, Rhodes was the most concerned for the civilians. Perhaps selfishly, because he realized that there was a significant chance the genocide could turn around on the regime, but it was concern nonetheless.

"Keep them in the city. If Westforde is to be the Headquarters of the Revolution, if my..." Hewitt paused. Although the façade was transparent to members of the inner circle, he felt some inner need to at least pretend the revolution wasn't about power. "...our fortress of Ohankaist ideology is to survive an attack, whether it comes today or in three years, our enemies must learn to contend with all of us. Even the supposedly innocent." Hewitt was cold, calculating.

"We have reason to believe that the Anglynovan Sea may now possess elements of an enemy fleet. We can't say when an attack will come, and we can't risk deploying air power. Our numbers are limited until we receive assistance from the Koy People's Democratic Republic. My men are ready to mobilize at a moments notice. We have troops along the eastern and northern beaches, tanks, IFVs, and short-range artillery. Nothing that could be in striking distance of their ships, but enough to lay pressure on landing forces. And we have limited capabilities to use mustard gas, sir, although I've advised field commanders to use it as a means of last resort—to fire it before a tactical retreat."

Hewitt nodded. "What of our naval capacity? Our air defense?"

"Our naval capacity is incredibly low. Our Navy will effectively serve as reinforcement to our Army in the form of Naval Infantry. We possess 25 ships, most of which are patrol boats. They have no chance against an enemy fleet. Our air force is limited to some 100 air craft, most of which are fighters. I'll be honest sir, our anti-air guns and our air craft are the only thing standing between us and enemy air superiority."

It didn't seem to concern Hewitt, who was still fixated on the city past the tiny window. "But when the Koy People's Democratic Republic arrives, we'll be able to turn the war onto them. From the defensive to the offensive."

"Uh...yes, sir, that's correct." Rhodes was uneasy, as if he had suddenly realized where he had ended up in the food chain.

"And the National Militia has been armed appropriately, sir. The regular army is normally outfitted, while the National Militia has been ordered to create makeshift weapons. Spears, knives, etc. They're being trained as we speak in urban guerrilla warfare. Imagine: a scumbag from a capitalist nation patrolling with his squad, ambushed by our Party's faithful. Even if their superior firepower makes quick work of the civilians, its psychological."

Hewitt nodded and smiled. "Indeed it is."

1415 hours, 12th December 2012
Jarrenton Naval Base, New Belhavian Far East Territories

Crown Prince of Lacertus, Gisbert I, had resolved to join the members of the Anti-Communism Alliance, and as a member nation do all things necessary to crush the actions of the socialist revolutionaries, red terrorists, to restore peace to Anglynova. His intentions were documented to the government of New Belhavia, as his troops had mobilized, armed themselves and set off in carriers and cruisers carrying the necessary supplies, if only to join up with the invading task force.

The letter was documented as follows:

To: Government of New Belhavia
From: Government of Divitaen

Dear sirs,

It pleases us to inform your government that Divitaen troops, in order to maintain the rule of the legitimate government of Anglynova, have been sent to meet at the Eastern Territories of your sovereign nation in order to coordinate our efforts with the Anti-Communism Alliance and its task force to defeat the illegal rebel militias located in Anglynova. It is estimated that we shall arrive at 1400 hours, with all the necessary supplies and troops enclosed therein.

Thank you.

Signed,
Gisbert I
Crown Prince of Lacertus

True enough, the Divitaen military had prepared the following troops, located on cruisers and protected by battleships.

4 x Vikrant-class aircraft carriers
10 x Hatchet-class frigates
6 x Slava-class missile-armed submarines
3 x Bison-class CTOL-armed battleships

32,000 infantry
100 LY7 Rottweiler Medium Tanks*
100 AY2-1m Main Battle Tanks*
100 "Pathera Uncia" Medium Battle Tanks*
50 2E Air Defence Tanks*
400 LY7/222 King Shepherd AA System
200 S-300 missile systems

(Carrier-based air forces)
15 x IHA-11 Raider fighters
10 x YD-29 Knights
10 x YA42 'Corsaire' Fighters
10 x Sukhoi Su-34 Bomber planes
15 x U-2 spyplanes

The full force of 25 battleships, cruisers and carriers that made up the 16th Navy Division entered at an average speed of 33 knots, attempting to travel the distance from Divitaen to New Belhavia. They were slightly late, arriving at 1415 hours, 15 minutes late from the projected time. Admiral Schwarz, leading the division, immediately informed the government of New Belhavia, and the militaries of the task force that had already arrived, apologizing for the tardiness and awaiting the further orders of the New Belhavian generals.

You know the drill, Eilanya my child. 'Xcept now we must cooperate with the ACA. I assume this will not be a problem.

The High Mistress'es words continued to ring in the Commander's mind as she marched down the hall and headed for the door into the conference room where the other commanders were now in the early phases of working how the invasion ought to turn out. A pity, she thought, that there wasn't enough time to plan it all out in due time. But as old Clause would say of war, it takes a great modicum of courage and a medium of skill. The former is of particular priority. Her winter grey uniform with its red streaks on her shoulder pads and down the out of her trousers (that tucked into her jet black combat boots) gave away her nationality immediately. Dakinian.

Commander Eilanya Juutilainen - proud Varr and hero of the Winter War. That certainly had a ring to it - however it mattered little now. The developing situation with the DPRA and the ACA's decision to rid it of the Ohankan menace was more than enough to unsettle the High Matriarchs, who preferred not to have military activity this far up the arctic circle and so close to home. With a soft knock she opened the door, carrying her dossiers and different files needed to coordinate the operation with her three commanders, Barkhorn, Hartmann and Vilcke of the Army, Navy and Air Force respectively who would take charge of ops on the field of battle itself. To an extent she regretted not being able to be there with them, this being the first time she would have to command from back here. But cooperation called for compromise. She needed to be present at the mind of it all, the small corps of commanders here in the New Belhavian Far East that would orchestrate this entire operation.

"Commander Eilanya Juutilainen", she said in a thick, almost humorous Finnish accent as she approached the group by the table and gave a sharp salute. "E-OIC for the DPRA Campaign and XO to the Grand Commander Makkela herself."

She paused for a moment to look at all the maps and registers drawn out on the table and see for herself what the men were up to. Straight to business. A quick, dodgy move of her eyebrow indicated that she was absorbing what had been laid out thus far, but there were some clarifications that had to be made.

"I will need an airbase", she mumbled to herself, although loud enough that those around her would have heard it. She continued, "We will be relying on CAS and LRAS for fire control and delivery of my armour. I will need an airbase". This time her voice was resolute as she noticed a couple of scribbles and markings around the isle of Coggston.

Admittedly, her mind was wandering. Osiris sailed as part of the ACA TFA, positioned along the coalition's right flank, catching the frosty northern winds. It was nothing unbearable for an entirely arctic nation, but she missed it now. The breeze down here had that temperate feel to it, which was lovely at this time of year but made her think of home.

"As I was coming in I also heard that we have no pre-determined landing zones", she said with a small frown and a pout of the lips. "In that case, may I recommend to you gentlemen my Marine Recon?" With her finger, she pointed along the southeastern coast of the main island where the capitol was located, and zero'ed in on a small beachhead.

"We Dakinians are natives to these freezing northern climates. As hostile as they may seem, we are more accustomed to them than any other form of terrain and environment." She continued as she loosed her collar around her neck, her skin feeling annoyed by the cross-rifle pins donned on her Ceremonial Gear.

"I understand what apprehensions any of you may have, operating in such conditions. Which is why I'd like to volunteer my Marine Corps as the first to go onto the arctic beaches. If you wish to have multiple landing heads, then let the DPRA lock their eyes with us Dakinians. You will have your beachheads." Her mouthed formed a grin. Undoubtedly confidence, and a manifestation of the eccentricity these Dakinians were infamous for. It was easy to mistake it for recklessness, but antiquity showed that they were anything but. Among themselves, this sort of attitude was a form of courtesy, reassurance of a sort from one to another.

They need beachheads. Alright. We can do that. Let us have this first courtesy of aiding them acquire just that. The welfare of my women? I am not their keeper. They joined the GAF so that their lives could be of use to the Federation and its sorority. I only permit them to do what their hearts so long for, and this is one of them.

She gave a nod of affirmation directed at herself and paused again before a short question to continue the discussion and see what she had going.

"What kind of resistance exactly are we to expect?" There was also the question of the ACA's own naval power. The Marines would need cover and those defenses softened up before anything else, if they all agreed to her offer of course. That was also a major factor, but could be reserved for latter. She'd need their acceptance and approval first.

Jarrenton Naval Base, Far-Eastern Territories of New Belhavia

The crisp, morning air of Jarrenton and the wavy seas that surround the Naval Base provided the Adwestian 8th Royal Expeditionary Fleet the required kick to jumpstart the day. The war against the Ohankaist regime of Anglynova had just recently been announced, and the Kingdom of Adwest sought to take the opportunity to become an active member of the Anti-Communism Alliance once again. The declaration of war launched by the ACA's grand council was more than enough a call to rally the Royal Military, and as soon as the declaration was declared towards the false Anglynovan government, military involvement and preparation were begun as soon as it was possible.

The 8th Royal Expeditionary Fleet, led by it's commanding officer and chief admiral of the expeditionary fleet, Philip Hughes, was at once sent out to represent the Adwestian military aid in toppling the illegal Ohankaist regime in Anglynova, it's many impressive ships constituting the bulk of Adwest's naval pride. The flagship of the fleet, a Destroyer by the name ANS Archibald II, had just docked in one of the many piers of Jarrenton Naval Base alongside the rest of the ships after a long journey from the mainland.

Yet the Royal Admiral knew that operations were to be conducted as soon as possible, having been briefed in a separate meeting of the Kingdom's own secret service and expected the present military forces in the area to move out as soon as possible. Nonetheless, he disembarked from the flagship and briskly marched towards the meeting place, utterly unabashed at his possible tardiness to the brief meeting. A few squads of Adwestian riflemen in complete military dress, their smooth, midnight blue fatigues distinguishing them from other soldiers in the area, also disembarked from the flagship, performing a routine check and informal inspection of the naval base.

The Royal Admiral, his Adwestian Blue uniform and various decorations bouncing in his chest pushed open the doors into the conference room.

"A fair day to you all. Philip Hughes, Admiral and Commanding Officer of the 8th Adwestian Expeditionary Fleet and de jure leader of the Adwestian military force sent to aid the destruction of the Ohankaists.", he exclaimed at the sight of the gathered commanders with a bow, immediately taking a place in the table in which discussion was focused on.

"It would seem plans have already been laid out", he voiced out in a satisfied tone. The Royal Admiral was not the most patient and calculating of commanders, and was often scrutinized by his reckless tactics and one-track mind in attacking the enemy with firepower. Lots of firepower. Nevertheless, his decisiveness in battle made him more than qualified for the delicate task at hand. He imagined the sight of reliving battle's glory, and his sheer willpower was considered key in maintaining the morale of the troops. For these reasons was he appointed to the post he holds now, making him a sound choice for the attack.

"Yet I must ask, when will our plans be put in full motion, when do we start our advance upon the wretches that occupy Anglynova?", he asked to no one in particular.

Due to some embarrassing cases of memory loss, I will hereby post my ORBAT here, thank you. :)

Jarrenton Naval Base, New Belhavian Far East Territories

To: Government of Divitaen
From: Office of Allied Affairs, The Imperial War Ministry, The Empire of New Belhavia

Your Excellency, Crown Prince Gisbert I,

We are, in turn, pleased to inform your government that your expeditionary forces are granted authorization to enter Jarrenton Naval Base, and we request that your senior mission commander present himself at the ACA Commanders’ briefing being conducted by Fleet Admiral John Warren, the commanding officer of the ACA Task Force – Anglynova (TFA). We look forward to seeing you shortly.

To Victory,
[signed]
Commodore Richard Perry,
Imperial Far East Naval Command

ACA Commanders’ Conference

Warren shuffled some papers on the podium in front him; watching Carr swarm against the wall, his folded arms and aura of hostility brought a satisfied smile to the admiral’s lips.

How does it feel, Senator, being relegated to the backbench?

Carr's poisonous glare only intensified the feelings of contentment stirring within the Admiral's chest.

A soft knock interrupted his moment of quiet joy, and an uniformed women entered, carrying dossiers and different files.
Dakinian. His mouth nearly dropped open. He frowned rather strongly on women in combat…but he had one exception: Dakini Femina. Her winter grey uniform, with its red streaks on her shoulder pads and continuing down her trousers – tucked neatly into her black boots – gave her away immediately.

Warren respected few militaries outside of the ACA and the Empire’s ad hoc collection of conservative allies…the cold female warriors of the Far North were another story altogether. Legendary, by most accounts. Parents scared their children to bed telling tales of battles and wars past fought by the mysterious and solemn-seen Grand Arctic Federation of Dakini Femina. Warren recalled one man – an old general from the Central Command – who had ever encountered a member of the insular Arctic nation of Amazonian women.

"Commander Eilanya Juutilainen," she said crisply in a thick, somewhat odd Finnish accent as she approached the table, clipping her booted feet together and raising a hand to give a sharp salute. "E-OIC for the DPRA Campaign and XO to the Grand Commander Makkela herself."

Warren, suitably impressed, did not say a word. He nodded in a gesture of deep respect. The other ACA officers remained silent as well, following the Admiral’s lead.

"I will need an airbase,” Juutilainen murmured, ostensibly to herself but at the level of polite conversation. “As I was coming in I also heard that we have no pre-determined landing zones," she said with a small frown. "In that case, may I recommend to you gentlemen my Marine Recon?" She pointed at a map of Westforde Island, locating a stretch of beach near the capital city.

“I am Admiral John Warren," he said evenly, disregarding her slingshot questions, "Ranking officer of the New Belhavian Imperial 5th Fleet and senior mission commander of the joint-ACA Task Force – Anglynova, otherwise referred to simply as ‘TFA’. It is a pleasure to meet you…I must admit, your people’s reputation in military affairs precedes you…”

He smiled. “Please be seated.” As soon as she seated herself, she commented on the tactical details of what was Operation KNOCK-OUT, offering her troops to be the ACA's vanguard in the final assault that would crumble the regime.

“First, Commander, to answer your previous question: you will have access to a large airbase on Coggston Island, our staging point for the operation once we cross into the combat zone.

“In addition, I appreciate your offer of your ground forces for Operation KNOCK-OUT. Admiral Young,” he gestured casually toward the pair of Castillians, “Has also offered troops as the first wave during our final sub-operation. I accept your invitation, and when we organize the final, simultaneous invasion of the Anglynova islands, your Marines will lead the ACA banner.”

He smirked slightly as she re-adjusted herself in her seat, subtly eying the pointed-out Castillians for a closer examination.

A Dakinian…, he shook his head slightly to himself in a rueful way, I never thought I would live to meet one. Their prowess in Arctic combat will ensure we have no trouble with the communist scum in Anglynova…

Another knock and the door swung open cautiously, as a man in a midnight-blue uniform and cap stepped through and gazed in a friendly manner at the conference of commanders.

"A fair day to you all," he began promptly, a large grin on his face,"Philip Hughes, Admiral and Commanding Officer of the 8th Adwestian Expeditionary Fleet and de jure leader of the Adwestian military force sent to aid the destruction of the Ohankaists," he exclaimed merrily, politely bowing and then taking his assigned seat.

"It would seem plans have already been laid out,"he noted.

The Adwestians have arrived. Warren's neutral expression faded into a warm smile; he had had the fortune of fighting alongside the Adwestians during both the First Adwest-Falsea War, and, more recently, the debacle in Karentenyia. He recalled Field Marshal Nabradia in the doomed Karentenyan port of Melyn.

A wise, noble, honorable set of warriors and knights, He mused to himself.

"Yet I must ask, when will our plans be put in full motion, when do we start our advance upon the wretches that occupy Anglynova?", he asked.

"Very soon, in fact. However, before I address that..." Warren replied tactfully. His piercing blue eyes focused in on Hughes. "I had the distinct pleasure of serving alongside Adwestian troops during the First Adwest-Falsea War and later Karentenyia. It is indeed a pleasure to fight alongside you and your forces, Admiral Hughes. Tell me, how is Field Marshal Nabradia? Is he well? He and I commanded ACA forces together in the Battle of Melyn..."

ACA Commanders' Conference

Admiral Schwartz received the signal from the New Belhavian authorities and entered the Jarrenton Naval Base as authorized. He told Lt. General Muller to stay put and look after the shipments and ensure the men do not get restless. He journeyed through the port and observed the preparations of the other militaries of the ACA, their navies all docked at the Jarrenton Naval Base, ready to move off as commanded to do so against the illegal occupying regime of Anglynova.

Admiral Schwartz asked for directions to the conference, and made his way there. He saw several military officials, as well New Belhavian politicians, gathered at the conference, ready to prepare military strategies to attack the islets of the Anglynova state. He saw a map ready, and the military officials were already discussing. He straightened his tie and quietly entered the conference hall. He bowed towards the officer who seemed to be of the highest rank, who he guessed was Admiral John Warren of New Belhavia. His Crown Prince had informed him before hand that it was to Admiral Warren that he would have to report all military actions, and follow his orders.

After his bow, he extended his hand to introduce himself. "I am very sorry for my tardiness, Admiral Warren. Admiral Schwartz of the Divitaen 16th Navy Division, at your service of this joint-ACA Task Force. It will be a pleasure serving under you, sir. I am sorry for this interruption, if I may understand the full picture of the strategy we shall be adopting against Anglynova, if you may so allow." He would have saluted to the good Admiral as a sign of respect, except that he had no idea how the New Belhavian salute looked like, and he was afraid of being perceived as rude.

Jarrenton Naval Base, Far Eastern Territories of New Belhavia

Excellent, thought the Admiral at the information given to him by Warren. The naval officer, who was in his mid-30s, praised the people who preferred meticulous planning over his own brand of tactics, saving a lot of time for both themselves and him. Such expertise was what he expected from a New Belhavian commander.

Yet the New Belhavians were not the only military masterminds currently present in the summit; a wide array of fellow ACA commanders had arrived earlier to fight the scourge of Ohankaism, and as Hughes observed each and every one of them in a discreet manner, his confidence in the success of the operation rose even more.

His thoughts on the close fight however, were suddenly taken out of his mind by the question of the Admiral, seemingly moving on to a more informal topic of sort. Knowing Nabradia himself as well, Hughes sought to remember the last report he read regarding the Field Marshall's current activities, as Warren greeted and spoke to the Divitaen Admiral for awhile.

"It is the same with us, and the Kingdom is truly esteemed to stand alongside New Belhavia, and the other ACA nations.", he said first after a few minutes, returning the compliment.

"Field Marshall Nabradia, after his successive involvement in the 1st and 2nd Adwest-Falsea War and Karenytenian Conflict, has recently returned to a life of quiet solitude. His efficient defense of the city of Torburg saw him being transferred from the Royal Army to the Royal Knights, now serving as the permanent military officer in charge with the Southern Peninsula's defense against future aggressors.", he exclaimed soon after, also remembering the brave army commander who led the Adwestian defense against the "Coalition".

His thoughts drifted off to the horrible memories of the Falsean invasion. Thousands of civilians and soldiers dead due to the military incompetence of the provincial aristocrats. Slightly grinding his teeth, he recalled the fall of Maldoran, the shameful retreat from Octavia, and the unsupervised gassing of Rabanastre. All those deeds, bought about by the communists and false nobles, would finally be repaid, although not towards Falsea itself, but yet another socialist dictatorship in the vast world.

Eila nodded in acknowledgement as the Vice Admiral did an impressive job of filling her in on the pre-battle specs. He has his strings warped tight, (Local Varric slang for 'He's got his bolts screwed nice and in the right places) she thought to herself as she turned her eyes back to the map on the table and left the other commanders to their devices. She lent a passive ear to make sure she didn't miss out on anything, but the New Belhavian's acceptance of her offer was now straining down on her. Despite all the bravado and friendly reassurance she'd like to give her fellows, leading a landing force was anything but pleasant. It was costly and almost often went wrong if not timed and executed perfectly and in coordination with the Navy and the Air Force.

An admirable lot of officers indeed. The thought crossed her mind as she put her hands together on her lap as she sat down and frantically took in details of the ACA's grand strategy. ORBATs, tactics, the geography of the DPRA itself, everything that was available for consumption. The conducting of war profitably was hectic, to say the last. It took officers with nerves of steel to wage it with skill.

So there's Coggston that we'll be sharing with the Castillians, and the multiple beachhead offensives the ACA plans to multi-task. She thought in silence as the Adwestian was talking now, apparently filling a good friend in on the predicament of one of their commanders - comrades from past wars. Always a pleasant thing to stir up. In the mean time however, the general plan for the entire operation seemed alright. She had her reservations about the rebels at Coggston, but the benefit of using their airfield outweighed the crime of working with Reds. The capitol city lies at the mouth of a bay south of Coggston after all. Control of the skies will be critical in island warfare. She could almost predict the horror of it all. Fighters trading salvos and firing flares to save their skins in mid-air, naval vessels squaring off in the cold arctic waters. That sort of thing was never a pretty sight. The ACA must have some serious funding if it has the sisu (Finnish for 'guts' or 'balls') to wage this kind of war so far away from home, and with the kind of hardware and scores of manpower they brought along. It almost made her want to laugh. Ah, the glory of struggle!

When the Adwestian Royal Admiral finished talking, it was then that he attracted Eilanya's attention. Adwest, that name. She turned her eyes to the dashing officer and found just the same pomp they had witnessed in the Falsean war. The Federation defended the Falseans then, out of sheer personal interest. It was dangerously close to the Motherland, but that was then. The reigns of power had shifted to the Far Right, and now she found herself leading her cohorts against the very people they fought before. It was somewhat of a thrill for her admittedly, to finally meet the people who dared to fire an ICBM at the Federation. She was just a field marshal then. Oh how the years had gone by.

''Admiral Hughes, Commander Juutilainen (Yootilainen)'', she said almost affectionately. ''We fought against each other at Falsea. How that conflict ended is irrelevant. Your people died well. I know of no greater honor.'' She then gave him a small pat on his left arm. ''You stood after our attack. I respect that. Your people are willing to sacrifice their lives for Adwest's glory. That and you persisted afterwards, and now I find your kind here.''

''May you continue to live, and die well. May the glory of your Kingdom never perish.'' She then turned to the offer officers in the room, getting a good eye on them. This is going to be grand. She then turned back to Vice Admiral Warren, and gave herself the liberty of letting out a small half-smile. ''Vice Admiral, would you be so kind as to share with us further the nature and specifics of Operation DAWN?''

''The snow of the North is pure white, and ought to be kept that way. These Ohankaists defile what my country considers sacred. The only acceptable reconciliation is to bleed the scum out all over it. May the snow and the faces of your cohorts run red with the blood of our enemies.'' She nodded at the officers in attendance and turned back to the map and the New Belhavian, ready to listen.

Admiral Schwartz shook hands with the commander from Adwest that had just greeted him. "Thank you Field Marshall Nabradia, it is truly an honour to meet a man who clearly has such grand experience on the battlefield! It is a blessing for our Kingdom to aid the ACA Task Force is crushing illegal terrorist organizations and foreign occupying forces in Anglynova, and we shall do our best to preserve and protect the Anglynovan people from the threat of the Red Menace, and yes we are esteemed in such a responsibility!"

He acknowledged the Dakini Femina military officials as well, bowing to them in greeting. He was proud at being surrounded by such admirable generals and military officials, all committed to the goal of restoring the rightful government of Anglynova to power and crushing illegal rebel forces within the nation. He looked over the map of the various islands of Anglynova and pondered about them. "My dear friends, I am sorry for asking any question that may have been rendered irrelevant by discussion prior to my arrival, and that is the fault of nothing more than my tardiness. However, I hope that all of thee may grant me the temporary liberty of making a few inquiries regarding the strategy we shall be adopting."

He pointed at the islands. "So, first I was wondering how we are intending to establish landing points for each segment of the task force, and if this has been decided. Once we land, we will certainly require materials to establish key forward operating bases and airfields for our activities, and I was wondering how we should accomplish this quickly before blitzkrieg attacks from the enemy could hinder our efforts to establish this front. You stated in your opening report that our strategy will involve mostly a naval blockade and an aerial no-fly zone, but both these efforts are reactionary, and not offensive. If the socialist regime does not yield, are our troops prepared to land and establish the necessary forward operating bases to take over cities by force, or through other means? Is there plan drawn for a land-based assault? I mean, I understand the final operation involves this invasion already, but how are our troops to be stationed on land, under air cover, and I mean, is there a plan to carry this out quickly without the huge risk of terrorist forces acting quickly to prevent our land-based establishments?"

He went on with his next question. "I was also wondering, from the reports I had acquired, the illegal socialist rebels have already seized the main government buildings and driven the legitimate government from the country, so my question is, is our main goal in toppling the government to target key governmental infrastructure to collapse the regime, or focus on the presence of illegal militias? For the characterization of the current socialist militia front in Anglynova is key to my understanding of the adoption of these differing strategies. Furthermore, what is our current policy to the targeting of cities? Surely, the targeting of cities filled with socialist loyalists would likewise be key to our military advancement, as well as allow the retaking of cities that may involve the return of the Provisional Government over certain regions. Are we authorized to use air raids on cities, for instance, or bombing campaigns on key governmental cities?"

He made sure to respect the hierarchy he was informed about, so he turned to the New Belhavian admiral he had greeted at the beginning, Admiral Warren, and made sure to address him after his list of inquiries, "Of course, Admiral Warren, I apologize if any of my statements or inquiries may have interfered with any of your planned fundamental proceedings in this Conference, and I am eager to hear the general overview of the strategy you have proposed, including detailed plans on our landing points, if you so please, of course. Thank you."

The Palace of the People
Revolutionary City
Koyro

Ohanka Jon Bak-su was incandescent with fury. literally only weeks ago he and the nation had celebrated the first true domestic Ohankaist Revolution outside of Koyro. The Anglynovian Revolutionaries had risen up en-masse against the corrupt capitalistic government. It seemed their victory would be short-lived, however. Ohanka's Government had recieved a forwarded message from the Revolutionary Anglynovian Government, from the Anti Communist Alliance, informing the Revolutionary Government that a state of war existed between the Imperialist Alliance and the Revolutionary Government. The young Ohankaist Government would have no hope of survival alone against the Anti-Communist Alliance. As such Ohanka, the Great Leader of the World Revolution, felt that the responsibility to safeguard the glorious revolutionary cause of Anglynovia fell on the shoulders of Koyro. Somthing his Ministers and Generals were less than enthuisastic about.

Kim Syong Vee-su, Chairman of the Central Military Commission, was the first to address Ohanka. "Great Leader, The Anti-Communist Alliance is a formidable military force, who will no doubt attack Anglynova with overwhelming numbers. The domestic Naval Forces of Anglynova consist of around a dozen destroyers and 20 patrol boats with little hope of stalling the Fascist forces. It would take considerable naval resources to even have a chance of holding off the Coalition Forces. A land invasion would be even harder if the Coalition forces managed to sieze the Island before our Naval Forces arrived."

"Not only that" contributed Ohanka Hyong Bak-su, the brother of Ohanka Jon. "The population of Anglynova is only around one and a half million, is it even worth the deaths of tens, possibly hundreds of thousands of koy troops? To safeguard such a...."

Ohanka interupted before his brother could finish. "You don't understand. It is not about population. It is about influence, our place on the world stage, how the other nations of the world view our Great Republic. We were the fuel for the ideological engine that drove the Anglynovan Revolution. We supplied them with the arms to destroy corrupted government. We are responsible for seeing the ideological struggle of Anglynova through to the end. Anglynova will stand as a beacon in the world. As a model for how we will demolish the old world and rebuild a new one. If we let the Great Revolutionary cause of Anglynova perish at foreign hands then we abandon our own ideological convictions. We have said time and time again that all those who stand in the way of our great revolution will be destroyed. If we are to stay true to our own beliefs then we must defend Anglynova. The invincible Koy People's Army will stand as the Vanguard of the World Revolution. Anglynova is only the beginning. When the armies and fleets of the Anti-Communist Alliance are destroyed our great revolution will spread to their shores, The whole world will be engulfed in revolutionary flames. "

There was a murmour of agreement amongst the Generals and Admirals present, mostly because they knew any arguments they gave against intervention would fall on deaf ears. was the Great Leader had made up his mind about somthing it was virtually impossible to get him to change it.

"I want a deployment and naval strategy for Anglynova produced ASAP" continued Ohanka. "Make use of all avaliable military assets and present me with plans by the end of the week. We must be prepared for all eventualites. This is the battle for our Revolution, Comrades. Failure is not an option."

The members of the Central Military Commission departed Ohanka's office, Ohanka turned to address his brother, the Premier of Koyro, directly.

"Have the State Directorate for Foreign Affairs draft a comminque of support to the Anglynovan government, and inform the ACA that a State of War officially exists between its member states and the KPDR."

"Do you really think this is a good idea, Jon?" Asked Hyong, he was one of only 4 people in Koyro allowed to address the Great Leader in such a manner.

"We boast time and time again that the Koy People's Army is an invincible force, its time the World saw its might. We have been funneling the majority of national resources to our military for the past 20 years. We are not unprepared for war. Ensure that the letters i asked for are sent by the end of the day"

"Aye, Comrade" said Hyong, before departing the office. Ohanka was left to attend to his work

Recently, it has been brought to the attention of the Koy Government that a coalition of fascist and imperialistic swine, known as the "Anti-Communism Alliance" has declared war on your young, revolutionary regime. Rest assured the Koy People will stand in Solidarity with the Anglynovan people. The Great Revolutionary Cause of the Anglynovan people was the first outside of Koyro to embrace the true path of light in this World. Your Nation stands as a beacon of hope to all revolutionary people's. It is a symbol that shows that all People's of the World can - and will cast free the chains of Capitalist and Communist oppression and embrace our path. The path to a peaceful and propserous world, united under a single banner. We will not allow this beacon to be destroyed by Capitalist profiteers who seek to thrust the Anglynovan people back into the age of oppression. Your nation will have the full might of the Glorious Koy People's Army, the main force for the Worldwide Revolution, behind it in the coming battle. Anglynova will not only emerge victorious from this war, but also more powerful than it previously was. Not only will the Capitalist vermin be exterminated but the Communist terrorists in Coggistan will be obliterated, and Anglynova finally reunified

In Comradeship,
Ohanka Jon bak-su, Paramount Leader of the Koy People's Democratic Republic, General Secretary of the Koy People's Socialist Revolutionary Party, Supreme Commander of the Koy People's Army and Guide of the World Revolution.

"Likewise, it is an honor to come face to face to revered military figures such as yourself.", remarked Hughes at the greeting by Commander Juutilainen, bowing slightly from his position.

While normally, any Adwestian military official who comes in contact with a lady, her hand would be offered and kissed by the official, as a sign of respect and courtesy, but Hughes perished the thought. The Dakinians are not merely some matriarchal society, they are a country dominated by fierce female, and to regard them as equal to an normal Adwestian female would surely be an insult to their character.

"Your country's reputation precedes you, as do their deeds of the past.", he added, frowning a little.

His wife were amongst the many casualties of the coalition's nuclear counterattack on Adwest, and he vowed one day that he would get his revenge to those people who had caused such a devastation. Yet it was ironic, that he was now facing a representative from one of these countries. Nonetheless, the Royal Admiral maintained his friendly demeanor, acknowledging the Dakinian and her country as equal allies in the fight against communism.

"Yet I digress. Such deeds were for the protection of one's beloved homeland. It has come and gone, and there is no use dwelling in the past and sulking about it. I myself am surprised to see that the Federation has joined the fight against the red hoard, but I'am joyful at the thought all the same.", he finished with a flourishing smile, before turning towards the table again.

Hughes took another glance at the map, observing the positions relayed to them by Warren. An archipelago...this would be a different experience, he thought to himself as he shifted his gaze from the table to the door. Another ACA commander entered, and identifying him from Divitaen, offered the commander with a welcome.

"Admiral Schwartz, welcome to Jarrenton Naval Base.", he said, standing up momentarily and offering the commander with a shake.

"Unfortunately though, I'am not Field Marshall Nabradia, I'am Admiral Philip Hughes. Please take a seat and join us.", he said, grinning a little as he returned to his own seat.

The Royal Admiral had lingering doubts over the man's competence, judging from his rookie-like enthusiasm. In spite of this, however, he still retained the respect that any military official requires, and as a representative from a fellow member-state of the ACA.

"To answer your first question, Admiral Schwartz, Admiral Warren here..", he started, pointing to the New Belhavian commander,"...has already established an organized system of deployments for our forces, which, I believe, is divided between us all, to swiftly tackle any socialist forces on the coast. I seriously doubt that these socialists pose a threat to our combined fleets, so there is no need to worry."

"As for materials, I believe that once we have landed quickly and disposed of any threat to our navies, we would be able to transfer said materials to our forward operating bases from here, or any other ACA-held territories in the nearby vicinity. I trust each commander has bought a suitable amount of supplies necessary for this grand operation."

"The naval blockade and no-fly zone are imperative steps to secure the success of the mission. They are intended to wear down the enemy's guard, and once they have exhausted themselves repeatedly trying to repel us, then we go in for the kill with our main forces."

"Of course, these are only my views on the matter, I hold no further knowledge of this. Forgive me for my brashness.", he smiled, apparently driven to answer Schwart'z question.

Othello was listening to the strategies that were flung back and forth during the meeting. As he was standing there, his deputy pretty much took care of the Nassraunian position. For him it was sad that none of the people in this room knew the power of New Nassrau. As New Nassrau had been out of another alliance, it had gone under a major militarization. The military of New Nassrau while in the coalition was relatively small due to the assurances from other member. New Nassrau was in a weak position when the Coalition fell. All around it, enemies were springing up. Even New Nassrau's allies were falling apart from internal and external strife. One thing had to be done. As other nations saw that New Nassrau was in a lull, something more sinister occurred. Thanks to the AI, Eternal Silence, all communications out of Sapphira went offline except for New Nassrau. Under the people's backs, the government sent many special operation's forces around the continent toppling regimes and killing other people. For a few months, stability was achieved... however even then it was assured. Thus, New Nassrau went to the point where it had bases everywhere and patrolled the region. The true colors of New Nassrau had shown. The military, utilizing stealth and unmanned systems soon dominated the area... it still does.

The system in Othello's ear went crazy. A deep voice of a woman was talking to him. Except, this wasn't a real woman. This was New Nassrau's first Artificial Intelligence. It has a calm personality... except it learned from its creators. Sometimes she can be sarcastic....
