The Great Asuran War (IC|Closed)

Postby Midrasia » Tue Nov 13, 2012 12:04 pm

The year is 1920, the continent of Asura faces an uncertain future as war looms over the world. The home of great empires could soon be the battleground for one of Asura's must bloody wars yet. Fascist and Communist powers rise and the defence of liberty and freedom is left only to those who dare to face the threat of all out war. Revolutionaries rise and conquer, the only question is what do they fight for?

Dolorem had been a very nationalistic country, sporting it's national colours of blue and yellow at nay possible occasion, and citizens standing in a mix of fear, adoration and whatever they had had forced into them since their birth, for the High Overlord.

Dolorem had always remained fairly isolated, and as such little effects could be seen from places such as the renaissance, with Dolorem remaining, albeit to the opinion of other nations, in it's "ignorant ways." The only real influences that would breach the isolationist barriers, set out by it's glorious creator the Overlord, would be war, and eventually the industrial revolution, to which Dolorem partook in immensely, with the effects upon it's environment still being seen, very evidently today, with one such example being the smog clouds hanging over head.

Image
The Overlord's brother (On the right) making an agreement with the Isolatonian ambassador, over terms for an alliance.

However, with such a nation, it seems fairly obvious, that when finally tensions rose, leading to the great war, that with it's isolated outlook, and history of military success over disputes closer to it, especially the wars over border with P.I, then it seems obvious that an overly zealous attitude would be seen.

They agreed with Isolatonia to join, as a similar minded nation, and would gain large proportions of land, all over the world.

The war proceded, and all was going well, until the combined efforts of the opposition were bale to breach a major supply lane, nearly halting communication to fronts in areas such as Midrasia and Engortia.

Eventually, with lack of supplies and orders reaching troops, the opposition forced their way forward, until a major battle at the end of the war,the siege of Lortherium took place. At first it seemed like Dolorem could hold, and starve the enemies out, until an insurgent was able to open the barricades for the attackers, and a ferocious 3 day battle took place, with a combined effort of the remaining military, and the citizens fighting with bottles, table legs, anything they could find. The Overlord himself event took part, until eventually the centre of town was taken, and the Dolorem flag was burnt down. Eventually, the resistance halted at the show of the burning symbol, until it was quelled entirely.

Image
The siege of Lortherium

After which, the Overlord was sent into exile for his part in the war, and a democratic government was installed, the first in Dolorem. With the economy in utter ruin from the war, and it's Capital city in complete ruin, it is hard to tell where the nation will go next.

Update:

Recently, with the instability of the newly installed democratic government, numerous parties have attempted to seize the potential for power. Following suite with the rest of Asura, communist uprisings were happening, with several rather violent encounters being seen in the centre of the capital city of Lortherium. Rebuilding has commenced, and so far the town hall has been reconstructed fully, along with some of the more historic buildings, and others important for infrastructure, such as the bank. The Overlord's tower has been left a smoldering ruin, as a reminder of the evils of war, and of the evils of the Overlord. With national pride low, and borders open, foreign parties are spreading over Dolorem, and are acting hostile, speaking out against Dolorem's history, and in the current situation, not many are feeling at all ready to speak out.

Foreign communists have taken the lower quarter of Dolorem, and are spreading, will they be able to take over?

Edit: Everybody, you're acting like it's 1938, you have nearly all the time in the world, use it, and create a good backstory for the rise and falls of powers.

In the closing years of the Great War of the 1910s, the Pandirossan Empire was in turmoil. Hundreds of thousands of men had been slaughtered on the front, due to the inferiority of Pandirossan training and equipment, as well as disease. Food became scarce across the country as what little could be made was confiscated by the imperial authority to supply the disastrous war effort. The mainly agrarian, peasant population of Pandirossa began starving across the country.

Image

Fuurtan children feel the pains of malnutrition

The extreme depravity fuelled two separate revolutionary groups; the Communists, seeking land reforms to escape the outdated Pandirossan model, and the nationalists, wishing to free the many minorities within the multi-national and multi-lingual empire. In one corner of the empire, these two groups happened to share the same goals.

The Fuurtan people were originally a confederacy of independent tribes, keeping themselves to themselves within their terrace farm mountain homes, or the jungles they colonised to the North. But they were absorbed, like so many others, into the growing Pandirossan Empire during its peak in the late 16th century. The people of Fuurturr had, for many a century, been classed as lesser citizens and stripped of their basic civil rights. The ideas of Communism spread rapidly here, to escape the strict Pandir-led hierarchy. Nationalist tendencies became intertwined with these desires, and soon the Fuurtan Red Guard had formed, with the aim of securing Fuurtan independence, through war if necessary, led by a Communist central government. Since Pandirossa was broken and forced from the war in 1916, the FRG has been at constant civil war with the Pandirossan Empire, which lost much land in the bitter peace forced upon it at the end of the war. Soon, Fuurturr shall stand strong and free, as the true workers state!

Theleader of the Glorious Soviet Republic of Isolatonia read the newspaper with interest. soon after, he summoned a meeting of his top military advisors. it was decided a fewhours later. Aid would be sent to the Fuurturrian communists. the right wing fascist oppressors formally known as a monarchy has sucked up to Pandirossa, though the country had historically oppressed Isolatonia. it was time for a change. The leader left the council chamberto anxiously await the day when the noble flags of Marxism flew freely on the green Fuurturrian hills.

Stovilium has came off fairly well after the great war due to it's unrivaled neutrality, the benefits of trade became apparent not too soon after it began, not losing men, only earning money from trade in raw materials among other things. The Stovilian advisers did not fall short when it came to suggesting when to begin trade. Although they did not take any large role in the first great role when it came to military forces Stovilian weapons were seen in the hands of many nations arms.

However it has not been that way for a short while. Stovilium has always had it's reputation for a highly capitalist, pro-market nation, putting the economy above all else, to a point, as to become a major power within Asura. The armed forces have been receiving a considerable amount of funding over the past 50 years, boosting up training, bolstering equipment quality and there has been rumors of a conscription if it is approved. The Government has been considerably worried about the possible communist uprisings, and so large corporations, such as Sir Stephen Main-Lloyd, a well known industrialist, funding mass political radio shows and posters around all his factories and in the common streets in high up provinces such as Lander, which is thought to be a reason for a highly dominant government in favor of businesses. In fact many high up politicians have large shares in them. The armed forces have been receiving many 'donations' and have been slowly pushed up in importance in the eyes of the government. Compared to many nations in Asura Stovilium believes itself to be a region wide source of trade.

It geographical location has been made one of some importance over the last few years, with it's sheer size making Stovilium difficult to avoid when traveling around the west coast. This has brought great improvements to the docking services in the port provinces of Stovilium, providing oil, fuel and other basic materials any ship may require, with nearly all materials being internally sourced in the 'modernized' landscape of Stovilium (Environment severely damaged to gather mass raw materials). Shipping lanes have been marked out and are highly used by Stovilium to reach nations such as Delsola, Midrasia and the majority of the right side of the upper land mass. However tourism still is somewhat evident in Stovilium for those who do not seek persecution from Fascist, Communist or the like countries, and with illegal immigration at a record high over the last few years some people are angered, like the common worker who lose jobs, yet some are happy, like big business owners who have very cheap labor. In both cases land expansion is demanded to attire to this. Border forces are as per usual.

In recent news the Fuuturran rebellion has caused quite a stir in the Stovilian owned provenances, which has been noticed by business owners there who fear possible communist uprisings there, besides the fact that the Stovilian owned provenances have been Stovilian for many decades now and democracy has been surrounding them for so long, not to mention the propaganda. nevertheless Police have been warned to be weary of possible changes and police have been sent to said locations. No other actions have been taken but it is evident that Stovilium are not too happy to see communist uprisings so close to home, but trade with nations such as Isolatonia is a profitable one Stovilium does wish to keep. Concerning the Midrasian rebellion Stovilium once more does not have any real responses to give as off yet but in both cases Stovilium seeks to retain all trade routes. weapons manufacturing has been ordered to be increased by 25% over the next few months nationwide as to meet the possible needs for weaponry in other nations in the months, or indeed years to come.

Stovilium is still fully open to trade as it ever has, with the Essot stock market working well as it has done. however Stovilian advisers have warned the government about the possibility of a greater threat, as with rebellions and wars starting out in both great land masses this could lead to a possible issue if an upper land mass country is strongly involved in a conflict in the lower land mass Stovilium needs to speed up it's current actions at least in order to be ready to both defend itself and to be in with a chance to make some profits by supporting nations in such a war

The leader looked out of his large window over the city of Holy Wood. He recalled the day when the final Templar had been executed and Isolatonia freed. 28th september 1917. the soldiers had been told that they were coming home. He remembered it well. the soldiers coming home cheering, eating lavish banquets at the expense of the state. well, that had not lasted. Marxism made the people so very poor. but the state provided everything that they needed to survive. nothing more, nothing less. There had been a few riots by the fascists, but they had been stamped out quickly. now the children were being taught of the dangers of the right wing and how the Marxist government would protect them from it. he smiled. Indoctrination was such a harsh word. he liked to think of it as 're-educating'

two hours later he made it public. Isolatonia was going to war once more.

Ok. I will be sending 1,000 well equipped troops in five well stocked weapons supply ships from the four Isolatonian provinces bordering what I am going to call the Pandir Gulf. They will arrive at the two FRG cores bordering the sea. They will ask permission to land. will the FRG accept? If so, the Communists will be supplied with weaponry and technology.

Isolatonian history
1896- Final templar king, Dominic V crowned
1914- Isolatonia sides with (whichever side won the war)
1916- The Battle of the Pandir Gulf. (A large battle between Isolatonia and Pandirossa fought in both the sea and the land around it. One of the bloodiest conflicts of the war. 20,000 Isolatonian soldiers were killed after the ten day conflict
1917- Using the hatred fuelled by the poor leadership at the Pandir Gulf,, Marxist revolutionaries sieze the chance to rise up in the February of the year. the revolutionaries siezed power in the September of that year.
1934- Midrasian (?) stock market crash. Isolatonia and many other countries plunged into depression
1936- Fascist uprising. quelled quickly due to lack of support for fascists

Vrnallia, fortunately, hardly suffered in the War. Its alliance with Communists and the International Body of the Luheñe'ptár gave it trading partners, ensuring that the insular menagerie's population did not starve to death on the island's rather meagre resources. It fought only a heathen country in a faraway land, taking some of its own as a colony. Most was returned to the nationalists post-war, but some remained in the hands of Vrnallian people. The first victory. If a small one.
Now President Kurcha Lješe looked over the group assembled in the Square beneath him as he announced that war had come to Asura. It was not easy to tell them; this was the first time they had war so near to home and they were understandably distressed. But there was too much to lose... Kurcha would not force his people into a war. They could not, he emphasised, ignore it. The Vrnallian army had training conquering the nationalists but that was years ago - most of the soldiers had gone back to factory life, and to farm life, to their families. So instead there would be diplomacy, and all would be done to help those who fight for True Causes.
Kurcha raised his fist and screamed to his people:
Vrnakélja Zaj Ejdes!
Later he sat in his office in Zalejk and put pen to paper.
Fuurtan Comrades,
Respecting your struggle for freedom beneath the Pandirossan Empire,
We, the people of the Vrnallian Republic offer aid to you
in the form of food and medicine.
We have little food of our own, but a True Cause
deserves full support.
We will also provide arms and ammunition.
Please respond immediately.
In Honest Arms,
President Kurcha LJ. of the Republic of Vrnallia.

He silently prayed that he had not made a grave error in sending this letter. Then, he returned to his work as normal.

Turmoil, turmoil is the only word for it.
One of the greatest Empires in the history of Asura hangs in the balance.
Family fights family, friends murder friends and ideologies are crushed in a matter of seconds.
The Midrasian Uprisings makes the centre of the empire look pathetic, such an ordered civilised capital of Asura destroyed by a few extremists.
On the 3rd December 1916 the guns fell silent on the Midrasian Civil war, but still they weren't appeased.
On the 17th March 1919 Gradia Ulesk once again marched the Communists along the west coast seizing Destitude in a matter of weeks.
On 21st June 1919 the Republicans saw their chance to bring a full blown democracy to Midrasia, gathering arms in the east. The Royalists were slow to react and gathered forces in the Aelyan headland.
Image
(Communists are red, Republicans blue and Royalists orange)

King Alfred VII however has signed a temporary ceasefire with the republicans for minor reforms in the constitution for a greater involvement of parliament in the kings affairs. However the communists remain a major threat and a new ideology looks to be taking shape. Known as Fascism this pro right wing movement has the Communists worried. Gradia, lying on his death bed, aged 75 talks of a great communist union across Asura bringing Vrnallia, Isolatonia, Fuurturr and Midrasia together.
Step in Albert Beaumark, resident lord of Destitude esteemed military genius and national tough guy sees himself as Emperor of Midrasia. Forming one of the first fascist movements in Asura, The Myrann guard storms Destitude as we speak torching communists in the street, slowly moving towards the Eurincan Palatzo, where Ulesk lies sick and dying.
Royalists are making a push into the mountains past Berghelling and into the communist heartland, they reach out to Delsola one of their former allies for supplies and aid in bringing peace back to Midrasia and restoring the HM government.

Word of the murders of Communists in Midrasia reached President Kurcha. Needless to say, he was appalled.
Another letter was put to paper, almost identical to the first, extending the offer of aid to the Midrasian Communists. Later that day, the radios of the nation echoed word spoken by the President condemning the actions of Fascists in Destitude.
'The actions of these people are atrocities. I know little of Midrasia, but I can say that in civilised nations, atrocities are punished most severely. We urge people, whosoever they may support, to join Vrnallia in a condemnation of these despicable beings.'
Kurcha had troubled thoughts for a while after, as he knew that the fascists themselves would not take lightly his speech. Not for the first time, he silently prayed that no harm would come to his people as a result of this.

With Vrnallia now sending fair sums of money two both great land masses a telegram has been sent to their government by the secretary of foreign affairs, in short suggesting that if they wish to take out loans from Stovilium to keep their economy going strong and to help them stay stable in case of freak crisis Stovilium would be a suiting candidate to aid in said cause.

A second telegram had also been sent to both Isolatonia and Fuurturrian leaders, in short proposing a deal that although Pandirossa used to have stable relations with Stovilium they shall not be assisting either side in this rebellion, on the condition that Fuurturr and its current allies do not attempt to advance into Stovilian territory in the aims of seizing any land that they believe belongs to them.

Finally the military budget has been increase by 75% in the light of the current conflicts, which will be spent into a mixture of naval, ground and aerial forces

The FRGs leader, Chairman of the Free Fuurtan Communist Party Al'kaffi Kree, made an announcement on People's Radio, a signal broadcast from a station captured by the Red Guard, one of the few in all of Pandirossa. Many Fuurtans gather around communal radios in town halls, whilst many more hear the message passed on within the coming days.

Image

"My fellow revolutionaries! Now is the time for the proletariat to free themselves from imperial bourgeois oppression! Farmers of the Fuurtan steppe, take up arms! Labourers from F'tuturr to Uom'he, take up arms! Soldiers returning from the accursed militant front, take up arms! Sailors, take control of your ships! All must unite under the Communist Party! New weapons to all Fuurtan heroes of the revolution within the week!

The message was set to a constant loop, and Kree returned to his personal chambers, locked up safe from the violence outside. He examined the messages his comrades in Isolatonia and Vrnallia. He prepared two telegrams:

(Vrnallia)

The Isolatonian leader read the Fuurtan telegram. He was shaking with rage, but not with his communist brothers. He had recently heard about the attacks on Midrasian communists and how his old friend Gradia Ulesk had been brutally assaulted. He barked out for a clerk to take down a message to be sent to Fuurturr.

To Our Fuurtan Allies. We would be honoured to help your cause. We have already sent four battleships which contain 1,000 of Isolatonia's best soldiers as well as enough arms for 5,000 troops. If required we can send more. Also, when you begin your initial assault, we will send 45,000 from our provinces by the Pandir Gulf to attack the Pandirossan provinces bordering it. We wish you a great Victory, brothers

Kurcha finished reading the messages before him. Pen to paper again, he wrote thusly:
Stovakóljam
Your offer of a loan has been considered and we would graciously accept funding to import food. You offer would allow our own people to eat native crops, and for this they would be indebted to you. Naturally islands like our own are unfortunately subject to crises and so this loan would, as you have suggested, protect Vrnallia in case of emergency. Please, make any offers as you wish.
For a True Cause, Comrades,
Kurcha LJ

And the second:
Fujkotur
Help that can be spared will be spared. You have the prayers of the Vrnallian Republic, and soon shall have more. Do you have any particular desires? Please, simply ask and we will endeavour to provide. Your fight is a good one.

Riots have continued throughout western Midrasia, as the fascist powers grab the south coast from the communists. Gradia Ulesk has been executed by Fascist leaders, who now control the city of Destitude. Royalist forces are continually assaulting communist holdings in the north and a royalist-republican alliance is looking closer to a reality as the Treaty of Galion-Salden was signed earlier today. The Treaty announced reforms to parliament and several key areas of voting rights.

In Regional News...
Fuurtan freedom fighters occupy most of northern Pandirossa, as riots escalate on a dramatic scale. Isolatonian forces have also made significant progress, though seem to be bogged down by Pandirossan trenches, near the Pandir Gulf.

A telegram has been wired to Vrnallia...

Vrnallia we believe that you should deserve your rights to a stable economy, and so we offer you many loans in the form of cash and also a reduced tarriff on all Stovilium imports into Vrnallia.
With the current fighting it is good that people can accept help when offered, instead of trying to look too big to fall.

The leader roared in fury and slammed his hand against the table. With Ulesk dead and the fascists taking much of the communist territory, The communist in Midrasia had pretty much no hope, leaving the frozen northern nation of Vrnallia as the only major communist power in northern Asura. There was nothing for it. 20,000 troops would have to be sent to Midrasia within the month. Also, more help would be needed. he called in a man with a typewriter and conducted a message;

Honourable communist brothers of Vrnallia. I am sure you have heard of the plight that has befallen our Midrasian brothers. I will offer them the aid of 20,000 Isolatonian soldiers to defend their land. I implore you to also send men. If we can secure communist states in Midrasia and Fuurturr, we will have a great chance of unifying Asura under the red flag of communism.

Yours faithfully, Leader of the G.S.R.I (Glorious Soviet Republic of Isolatonia

Dark Lord Al`ar II (al-KAIR) had stepped up to the throne at a... turbulent time, to say the least. The war had left a sour taste in the people's mouths, and the Treaty... that damned treaty. Communists were at rise in all directions, and the nation was barely getting back on it's feet. What had happened to the great leaders of the past? He had outmatched his nearest competitor in the Thirteen Trials by three victories. Three! Pathetic. The army was a shadow of its former glory, and the borders were patrolled by drunks and morons. This nation needed reform, it needed control...
It needed him.
'Tighten the borders!' he yelled, pointing to his First Proclaimer. 'And start reinforcing those prohibition laws. Kill the first three drunks you find in the most torturous way we can in the Colloseum, and get me a map! It's time for a new policy.'
The shout of 'Atrahk Enfaerai' flooded the castle, echoing through its blackened, ancient walls. 'The gates of hell are ready to open.'

Kurcha's decision had not been easy to make. His people knew that their country would be taking money from Stovilium but, pragmatic as they were, were not unhappy with this. The other decision was tougher to make.
Looking through a window, he saw graffiti scrawled onto a wall by a dissenter:
VRNAKÉLJA, ZAJ 'EJDES' ÁI!
Truly, he was worried himself. Gradia Ulesk was dead and his comrades in Midrásia would likely join him soon enough. This could not happen, nay - this would not happen.
25, 000 soldiers were on boats now heading to Midrásia. Vrnallia was going to war.
It's Guakok now. She/her or they/them, pick your favourite.

Red sky at night

Postby Midrasia » Sat Nov 24, 2012 8:41 am

As foreign troops landed in Atreia on the north coast within the bowels of communist territory, Midrasian communists mourned the passing of Gradia Ulesk described as a passionate, influential idealist with ideas of great change for the poor of Midrasia. Red candles were seen lighting up Bévin square at 12 midnight as what was said to be his 'charred remains' were paraded through the city, to his home village within the mining region by Mt.Vallhalla. Many of his family members held up pictures of the man and hoping his successor can continue his legacy.
Image

The man they chose as the successor was a middle aged fellow from Sanctiun. A miner for most of his life and now the most powerful communist in Midrasia. But nowhere near the most powerful man in the country. His name was Giovanni Mantaura. His opening speach read:
"We are fighting a loosing war. The only method of victory will be to spread communist out, far out. Into the bowels of Phaedrus Imperator, Dolorem and Valenworld. Communism will prevail. But Midrasia my friends is a lost cause. Capitalist greed has engulfed the nation and kings slit the gullet of the fellow man. Alas, a time will come when Midrasia will be free. But not yet, not now. I implore all foreign troops and fellow Midrasian reds, to march onto Serenia and onto Nordeross. We will bring a blitzkrieg of communism to the north! My fellow men, I am sorry but Midrasia is lost. However march with me and we will cleanse this capitalist plaque from Achronnen, by starting with the fodder!"
The crowd cheered punching the air as a roar of the communist anthem played aloud from the band below the town hall.

Meanwhile the king had signed a decree to unite the republicans and royalists under one banner. The newly elected Prime Minister Aider Massiktonn, joined him atop the balcony of the Thraice palace as they saluted the troops moving to secure Berghelling from communist guerrillas. One thing was for certain, communism was out of Midrasia, for now. But fascism was just getting started.

New Asuran map, as Fuurturr has made great progress in reuniting its cores and Isolatonia struggles through the Pandir Gulf. Divided Midrasia between communists=bright red, Fascists=grey and Royalists=crimson.

Two years after the Pan-Asuran War, Delsola finds itself in a unique scenario. The economies of the Twin Continent are stabilising, but there has been a shift in power. Delsola had always been the industrial leader of Asura, fuelled by luxuries from the colonies, but after the breakup of the Phaedrun Empire, Urusla, Dolorem and Isolatonia, the gap has widened significantly. The politics of the new century were beginning to show; the wonders of the assembly line were being explored in Delsolan factories, and for the first time products were emerging that could ease the lives of the citizen.
Cars were becoming more affordable by the day, and prototypes were being developed for new cleaning appliances, food preparation products. This created a new source of income for steel, glass, and oil. The first plastics were being produced, and the stock market became the new big way to make money.
The Delsolan chemical industry was the world pioneer; new polymers and materials would be produced throughout the decade.

Image
The growing Delsolan chemical industry was but one of the many benefactors of the Delsolan 20s economic boom

However, as the new industries of the 1920s emerged in Delsola, as did the signs of oncoming problems. The Communists had overrun Isolatonia but a few months prior, and the governments reaction, or rather lack of, came as a great shock. Grand Premier Novakolis Ganas famously stated:

"Delsola no longer wishes to hand-hold all of Asura. If the Isolatonian people choose to accept Communism, then so be it; just as long as they continue to pay reparations and maintain the peace, then the House of Elects says let them be Communists."

This was, of course, a lie. The Delsolan Expeditionary Force had sent a covert force to Isolatonia during the revolution, with the hopes of assisting Royalist forces, but the operation was a disaster. Critically, though, it was undiscovered, leaving no lasting imprint on Delsolan pride.

Now, another scenario had arisen. The Midrasians were experiencing not one, but two revolutions; the Communists in the North, and a group of ultra-nationalists calling themselves the "Fascists" in the West. The Kings forces were fighting hard, but the battle could go either way. Wishing to maintain an anti-communist ally on the continent, the Delsolan Expeditionary Force was again called upon. Acting as "advisers", they would be equipped within the day and sent to Galios within the week, aboard the LPS (Lord Protector's Ship) Hornets' Nest, a new breed of ship launched just the previous year. She was the world's first custom-built aircraft carrier, a true turning point in naval warfare, able to carry 20 Sékoplos 22-Ds and an experimental, four-engine aircraft, the Fodéchtoss-Q1. Throughout the 1920s and into the 30s, the Delsolan government would pour massive amounts of the military budget into aircraft carrier development and aeronautics. The men would provide training and armaments to the struggling Royalists, to assist against the Red Menace and the nationalist rebels. The planes would provide reconnaissance.

Another problem facing Delsola was the "Red Scare". Communist uprising were happening throughout Asura; who was to say it wouldn't in Delsola? People became terrified of Communists, and foreigners were often the scapegoat of this fear. However, the Red Scare would not escalate for the next few years.

And in the colonies, the citizens of the Delsolan Empire seemed at rest. Independence movements existed, as they did in every country, but currently appeared under control. Thousands were encouraged every year to migrate to the many Delsolan territories, especially Wysizri, a virgin land that now held 25 million citizens of Delsolan decent, and only a fringe community of natives.

The Ragsmuffin Empire boasted a powerful military-industrial complex and a juggernaut military that it could barely control. This made them a desirable ally for many nations, but also made them an undesirable foe. Before the war the nation was succeed by Augustus Rags XVI, a popular hero he and his greatest Ally Rosh Maana ruled together in the new age of the Empire. The reign of Augustus saw great modernization and economic throughout the Empire, but it also saw the rise of new ideals. With this industrial revolution the Empire saw the rise of socialists, libertarians, and nationalists who had different ideas about how the government should be ran. First peaceful protests spread throughout a few of the industrial cities, second unions were formed, with the fear of a socialist takeover the Empire arrested many of the political leaders and made unions government controlled. This lead to the first violent protest which resulted in the death of two soldiers and fourteen protesters. This ignited the flame which would lead to a revolution just a few months before the great war. The Loyalists originally saw early success on the battlefield but were halted in the Battle of Blackridge which saw the Loyalist army suffering some 30,000+ casualties of their 300,000 strong men against the 75,000 strong Revolutionaries who saw only some 2,000+ causalities. This lead to defeat after defeat until the Ragsmuffin Empire collapsed at the final major battle at Muffinkirk in which the loyalists were trying to evacuate into their naval warships after having been surrounded.

BATTLE OF MUFFINKIRK

Loyalists
220,000 Infantry
2,000 Cavalry
1,400 artillery pieces
400 light tanks

Navy
4 Battleships
2 Armored Cruisers
8 Destroyers
3 Supply ships
5 Troop Transports

Revolutionaries
400,000+ Infantry
15,000 Cavalry
2,000 artillery pieces
140 light tanks

Navy
2 Battleships
3 Battlecruisers
14 submarines
10 Torpedo boats

By land the Revolutionaries had the Loyalists surrounded and were bombarding their trenches. The loyalists were awaiting the full evacuation of their army. On the 2nd day of battle the Loyalist Fleet was attacked on arrival by a naval fleet under Revolutionary command. The Loyalist fleet was annihilated as well as one of the battleships was captured. The defeat saw a massacre of Loyalist troops which ended their efforts once and for all. After the battle a few more skirmishes broke in major cities but no more major battles occurred. Two months after the battle three groups emerged independent. These were the Confederate Republic of Muffin, The Kingdom of Ragsmania, and The Federal Constitutional Union of Muffinium.

The core of the Empire reformed into a military state known as the Free-State of Ragsmuffin, After the great war the disputed territories healed their wounds and a war broke out, the Free-State having a large army first marched into Ragsmania to capture the sea ports and remaining ships of the Ragsmuffin Armada that are stationed there. As well troops from the Free-State also began to occupy territory in each of the other nations beginning the reunification process under their Imperialistic Corporate State which seeks to restore the Empire and its greatness. The Free-state is lead by the Hero Rosh Maana whom now at the age of 67 still seeks to restore the throne and was proclaimed Regent to the Empire.

It looks as if now the Free-State will reclaim their lost territories and restore the Empire, now economically strong the Free-State will be a force to be reckoned with if it successfully unites the warring states.

The clerk presented the final form, which the leader signed with a flourish. the one man they had managed to capture would be interrogated ina... special way. Even the ISPS (Isolatonian Secret Police Service) could not trace them. it was an operation that was well planned well, but executed poorly.

Isolatonia was newly Communist. there were still... flaws in the system. but the Royalist rally had failed. Why they even bothered, he did not know. there wereno royals left. the current main suspects were the Pandirossans. It seemed only logical. but the man had the look of a southerner, possibly a Delsolan... but the Delsolans were all over Asura! there could be no certainty yet...

Stovilian economic experts have not been as truthful when it came to the economic status of other nations, such as Delsola, telling the government that they far out competed the Delsolans in every aspect, for reasons unknown. After a short evaluation these men were fired and a real comparison has been published.

In short, it states that Delsola is indeed the leading Chemical manufacturer, and a very close competitor or indeed the leading nation in many respects. however Stovilian sales have been coming increasingly close over the past few years and Stovilian arms manufacturing has indeed been somewhat of a pioneering body in Asura, with many politicians also being very rich industrialists. Arms manufacturing methods have been revolutionized over the past decade or so and shows little signs of stopping, with Delsola following incredibly close, or as said before leading, in most manufacturers.

in respects to the 'red scare' Stovilium is rather glad there is another capitalist nation in Asura, and one that is so close, as Stovilium shares a colonial border.
Any film can be improved with the addition of Morgan Freeman, even those with one already.

A cool breeze flowed over the city of Berghelling. The fighting had stopped, for now.
The city was under royalist control and the banner of the Destitudian dynasty flew from atop the cathedral. The communist resistance was over. Pockets of freedom fighters still existed, but were not a threat. Word however had reached the king about the communist advances, north of Midrasia, but Prime minister Aider advised the king that: "Striking the red's would leave a gap for the grey's to fill." This was a game of naught's and crosses, and the king was 1 away from a win.
Image
Crowds gather as the prime minister arrives in Berghelling

The Fascists though were not keen on giving up lightly. The king may have the advantage, but does he have the will? Alfred Beaumark came up with a plan. After the war there was much rebellion to the north in Dolorem and Phaedrus Imperator, surely a right wing group could help the Mydran guard! Telegrams were sent to radicalist groups in said nations. Beaumark sighed, "Your move kingy!"

The lack of support for democracy had rendered it dead before it had begun, but this instability was the least of P.I.'s problems. Their military was shot to pieces, and the arms industry was dead on arrival. This had created a new problem, one that was unknown in P.I. prior to this moment- surplus workers.
It was time for change.
'Get me the Midrasians! Tell the ambassador that, on the condition that we may rebuild the military and rearm to some degree, we will support the Royals. Also, I want in on relations. Try to improve them- we want people to build relations in Delsola in particular. Tell them we'll offer an alliance. There's a storm coming.'
