New Revelation From Mother Goddess!
Temple Demands End to Feudal System

Ancient City, Shrailleen - In a statement that has sent shockwaves throughout all of Shrailleeni society, the High Priestess of the Temple of the Mother Goddess has announced the reception of a new divine revelation from the Mother Goddess Herself, may Her Light guide all of Her Children. During an extraordinary gathering of the Temple Sisterhood, in which Priestesses and Priests from every Temple order and sect were present, the Mother Goddess spoke to the Most Enlightened Assembly to reveal a new Enlightened Path for Her people: an end to the traditional monarchist system and a radical redefinition of Enlightened Rule.

The announcement was made nearly simultaneously throughout the Enlightened World this morning, with local Priestesses and Priests giving the news of Divine Revelation to their respective congregations outside of the temples and shrines under their care. This included temples across the archipelago and the Greater Kurungarran Queendom, as well as temples and shrines in southern Dengali, the fledgling temple in Tritonsberg, and to the faithful in aid camps across the region. According to the Temple leadership, the revelation took some time to disseminate to all of the faithful, but the gravity of the news required an organized announcement.

In the ancient city of Shrailleen, home to the High Priestess of the Temple Sisterhood and spiritual heart of Mother Goddess Worship, the announcement was made to a large congregation which gathered to hear the High Priestess speak. The High Priestess does not often lead prayer sessions or give speeches, and only addresses crowds of this size on matters of supreme religious importance. It is noted that the last time a Revelation was revealed from the Mother Goddess was five hundred years ago, at the beginning of the Enlightenment Movement.

For our readers who have not already heard the news from their local Priestess or Priest, and for the benefit of our foreign readers, the Cry has summarized the key points of the Mother Goddess's message as revealed to Her Temple:

  • That the Children of the Mother Goddess, as a result of the Mother Goddess's Will, have benefitted from universal primary education for the past several generations and have an overwhelming capacity for multilingual literacy, arithmetic, and philosophy.
  • That the creation of an Enlightened, well-educated populace has placed into the hands of the Children of the Mother Goddess the capability to ably and responsibly govern their own affairs on Earth in a fashion consistent with the teachings of the Goddess.
  • That the ruling nobility, who have been entrusted by the Goddess to rule Her Children justly and wisely by virtue of their formerly superior education and abilities, have failed Her trust in recent decades.
  • That the recent spread of unrest and violence abhorrent to the Mother Goddess has been caused as a direct result of the Enlightened Principles held by the Children of the Mother Goddess coming into conflict with the now-archaic rule of the nobility.
  • That it is the will of the Mother Goddess that Her Child the Mother Empress, being the ultimate expression of Enlightened Will, must hear this Revelation and bring peace back to the Children of the Mother Goddess by following Her Divine Will.
  • That the families of the nobility, having now been revealed the Will of the Mother of All, must comply with the Divine Revelation of the Mother Goddess and work with the Mother Empress to achieve Her new vision for Her Children.

Reactions to this Revelation have yet to be fully interviewed, but the general reception among the Shrailleeni people seems to be highly positive. Many see this Revelation as proof that the Mother Goddess can provide a path to address their grievances without having to adopt the increasingly violent tactics of the Republican Movement.

There has yet to be any response from the Republican rebels holding Muldera and assaulting other cities across the islands, nor from the nobility or the Shrailleeni government.

President Condemns Emperor Albert Gentry

The President has issued a sharply-worded statement in response to a recent session of the Senate of Vorindeum. Albert Gentry, acting as Emperor of Vorindeum, pushed the Senate towards military action in New Edom explicitly in support of Jocasta Obed, the Heir to the Throne, despite of ongoing negotiations and a truce in place. The President strongly condemned the decision as inflammatory and a threat to regional peace.

"The various disputed parties in New Edom have reached a truce so that critical negotiations may take place regarding the succession of President Pahath-Moab. It is vital that rational discourse prevails during this period. Reckless foreign military adventurism such as that advocated by Albert threatens to prolong and intensify New Edom's constitutional crisis by reducing confidence in the mediation process and feeding into polarizing rhetoric heard from within New Edom itself."

"Despite his finger-pointing, it's medieval warmongerers such as Albert that have no place in modern civilized society. He is a relic of an age when trebuchets lobbed carcasses over stone walls, when the heads of your enemies were mounted on pikes above gates, when your parentage gave you the right to rule despite possessing no popular mandate or even the skills required to govern."

"The Republic will therefore resist any effort by Albert to carve up New Edom for his own purposes during this period of vulnerability and national tragedy. Adiron will consider any effort to do so an invasion of Edomite soil, and furthermore condemns any action which puts ideology and personal ambition before the people of the Allied States of New Edom."

Opposition Leader Saito did not comment on the condemnation. The Opposition has been generally divided on New Edom since the Olympic Stadium Disaster. Many have argued against involvement in what has proven in the past to be a highly-volatile part of South Acheron, claiming it is not in the country's national interest. Others, however, have voiced support for the pro-democracy protests recently violently dispersed by the Heir in Fineberg, and argued that it is an opportunity to revive New Edom's elected National Legislature if peace can be preserved.

Adiran opinion of Mr. Gentry has remained low ever since he issued remarks expressing support for the Imperium during his tenure as Regent. Polling suggests that Adiran public opinion will remain opposed to any of the Prince's political aims, possibly by simple virtue of the fact that he advocates them.
In-character name of the nation is "Adiron," because I like the name better.

Chancellor Praises Reform in Old Macureus!

Postby Gavinium Magnus » Sun Mar 15, 2015 8:04 am

Gavinium Weekly Financier,
Jacques Moreau

Chancellor Julian Calvert, when asked about events in Old Macureus, praised the "push toward Justice and Union with their New Macurean Kindred, a truly blessed initiative worthy of a just and truly enlightened nation."

The Chancellor said this while formally recognizing the new leadership in Old Macureus and warning against "the rise and march of inequality in the form of matriarchy in Gloria Regis, which we suspect is being fostered by external interlopers. It is quite clear to many of us, this intrusion is a violation of Edomite national sovereignty and territorial integrity by one of its supposed allies, a genuine betrayal of everything that the alliance is supposed to represent. Nor, as we can judge, has this been the first such case. It is clear to us that the Shrailleeni Empire smiles at you to your face, salutes you with one hand, and then stabs you in the back with the other hand. It will naturally make us wary of friendship with them in the future. We suspect that they have meddled in our own affairs during the treacherous Beck revolt."

The Chancellor announced that there would be no more autonomous territories such as Vexillum in Gavinium Magnus, and furthermore that the "any traitors still active will answer for the crimes that they committed against the Crown under Andrea Beck. Beck was a genuine reminder that matriarchy and fascism are often closely linked. Another proof of this is the activity of the Feminist Collective in the recent legislative session. It was a distinctly totalitarian attitude and unworthy of any champions of true justice and representatives to the People. Accordingly, no further feminist parties are hereby permitted to field candidates for any elective office in Gavinium Magnus."

"The only bright spot coming from the Shrailleeni Empire and its so-called Sisterhood, aside from the divine judgment and punishment of the wickedness of the former Coven in Old Macureus and the rise of a just new regime there, is the news that finally the Empire's state religion, false though it is, has chosen to accept the need for the end of the backward system of feudalism and its attendant evils. One can only hope that someday, the oppression that the men have suffered at the hands of their wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters will be cast aside as well."

Speaking matters pertaining to New Edom, the Chancellor added, "One can only hope for the full restoration of the sanity of lawful, constitution governance under the true sovereign of New Edom, with none of this unfortunate religious mania, these strikes, or these absurd religiously motivated laws in place, such as the Compulsory Nudity Act and the Morality Act. We view the Edomites as friends, so naturally we want what is best for them. In fact, with the guidance of the Light, we wish what is best for all nations, for all are our kindred, of course."

Regarding the King's decision to attend the funeral of Brigadier-General Perrin Pahath-Moab, the Chancellor stated that, "What else could we honorably do? He was one of the greatest leaders in the history of the region, and none of the accusations against him can change that greatness. We did not fully understand this at first, but now we do. We will honor him as he returns to the Light."

THE SIXINGTON LEADER

March 18,2015

Feminist Collective Leadership at Impasse?

by Rufus Jasper
SIXINGTON, Gloria Regis-- Senior leaders of the Feminist Collective Party, which was elected two years ago to govern the Protectorate of Gloria Regis, have reached an impasse requiring a general vote within the party on matters of domestic and future foreign policy.

In negotiations with the Allied States of New Edom's national government, itself in a constitutional crisis over the succession of head of state, important matters such as the treatment of opposition parties in Gloria Regis, the fate of naval officers who took control of the fleet stationed at Gloria Regis in order to force an end to military government of the Protectorate, and what measures need to be taken to establish the egalitarianiism generally proposed by the Feminist Collective Party remain on the negotiation table.

The different wings of the FCP emerged following a debate triggered by a speech made by Livia Barberina, the Premier of Gloria Regis, which suggested focusing on independence first and reassuring fears of the mainland national government.

"There is an entirely legitimate concern on behalf of government leaders there that our independence movement is a kind of thin end of the wedge for aggressive matriarchal nations such as Deadora to threaten them. We need to be able to demonstrate that our aim is not aggression but freedom, and that they have nothing to fear."

However she was disagreed with publicly and vehemently by Justice Minister Theodora Ferrovius, who claimed, "It is precisely the lack of fear of what we might do that prompted military government in the first place, because women are not seen as fit to sit at the negotiation table. As long as a condition for independence is sacrificing the brave women and men who supported paralyzing the military government I will not budge on this. I will never been moved to allow a single sister of our movement to be jailed, beaten, or killed to our political benefit by the government that has been our oppressor for so long."

Dr. Servilia Aemilianus, former economist and Minister of Commerce, proposed a third way. "We can achieve a great deal if we simply level the playing field and let those women who want to compete do so without hesitation, on the sole basis of merit. The fear that people on the mainland have of us suddenly castrating all the men and forcing them into slavery will be absurd when they see how a society can foster the best talents and abilities in its citizens. I have every confidence that our way will be seen as the better way on that basis."

In spite of a great deal of rhetoric on the floor of the Gloria Regian Senate, there remains avowed cooperation for whichever view wins in the upcoming debate and subsequent vote, which has been agreed to be followed right to the negotiation table with New Edom

Government Responds to Revelation
Matriarch of State Announces Reforms!'

Imperial City - Early yesterday morning the Temple of the Mother Goddess revealed the arrival of a new Divine Revelation from the Mother of All, one which has sent a powerful message to the noble families ruling the Queendoms of the Empire and caused the largest popular demonstrations seen on the islands in months. The traditional ruling powers of the Empire, the nobility, the Imperial government, and even the Republican enclaves still negotiating their recognition, have remained utterly silent for most of this time as local Priestesses and Priests have led the masses toward the realization of the Goddess's will. This silence was broken today as Matriarch of State and Crown Princess Aryni Resyanna fe Shrailleen came forward to address the nation on this historic matter.

Her Enlightened Majesty the Mother Empress Chella Resyanna fe Shrailleen, as well as her husband Prince-Regent Bavardo Resyanna fe Shrailleen and the Foreign Minister Zattem Resbruck were unavailable to give personal statements on the matter. All are currently staying in Fineberg, New Edom in order to pay the Empire's respects to the passing of Perrin Pahath-Moab and to honor the memory of one of Shrailleen's greatest allies. However, the Imperial head of government and heir to the Imperial Throne spoke today on the Mother Empress's behalf to make a potent statement: the intention of the Imperial government to follow through with the Temple's Revelation.

Speaking from the Mother Empress’s traditional dais, the Crown Princess and government leader appeared in government robes rather than in the robes of her House, perhaps as a symbol of the message that she shared.

“Yesterday the Children of the Mother Goddess were granted a blessing, the greatest that humankind can receive from Our Mother, from whom all life is created and to whom all life will return. The Mother of All, in Her infinite wisdom, spoke unto the most Enlightened among us. Her message, Her vision for we Her Children, was clear. Changes must be made.

In recent weeks my mother, the Mother Empress Chella Resyanna fe Shrailleen, shared with me her own vision for the future of this empire. The cries of her people have reached her ears, and their demands have commanded all of her attention. She shared with me the truth that we have attempted to ignore, as a chick unwilling to break from its shell. And that truth was that changes must be made.

For too long the Imperial government has struggled to operate on the back of a decrepit system. A system that rewards a select few at the expense of the many, based on a promise which has not been properly kept. The truth is that no woman possesses the divine right to rule. It is a divine privilege. And it is a privilege which can no longer be reserved only for those born into the proper family.

When my mother returns from paying her respects to the late interim President of New Edom, she shall hold within the Imperial Palace the first Shrailleeni Imperial National Assembly. To this gathering she shall invite the matriarchs and Queens of every noble House, the High Queens and Regent of the Five Queendoms, the full assembly of the Royal Court, the High Priestess of the Temple of the Mother Goddess, the ranking Priestesses and Priests of the Temple Orders, and representatives from the people of Muldera, Vesri'a, Tahlmatora, Mesta'an, Zallafen, Shalsti, and the assemblies of Vangarra and Sevreen. Also invited are representatives from the Five Civilized Tribes of Fromathra, and all leading intellectual and political voices from Shrailleeni communities across the islands. The purpose of this National Assembly shall be to come together as one people in order to forge a new future, in accordance with the Will of the Mother Goddess, to which our empire can peaceably and productively ascend."

The Matriarch went on to add that from this minute onward, all fighting, retention of arms, keeping of prisoners, and obstruction of government activity is to cease unconditionally and without delay. Any group, movement, or non-governmental entity which continues violent or obstructive practices preceding the National Assembly shall have its invitation withdrawn and shall be considered without qualification an enemy of the Empire, to be dealt with in accordance with Imperial Decree. This is presumed to be directed at the so-called Republics of Muldera, Vesri'a, Mesta'an, and Shalsti as well as the assemblies of Vangarra and Sevreen, which have for months been engaged in sometimes violent actions against the Imperial Government. An uprising by the Five Civilized Tribes, as well as the short-lived Fromathine Republic, was dispersed by combined Black Wing and New Edomite forces last year.

Given the history of the Imperial government's interaction with dissenting groups, the announcement came as a relative surprise to many Shrailleeni. No comments have yet been made from the Shrailleeni nobility, nor from the various Republican factions. Among the general populace, however, the news has garnered immediate and widespread support for the Mother Empress as proof that she continues to follow the Enlightened Teachings and adheres to the Will of the Mother Goddess. Celebrations outside of temples in Imperial City have already been reported as well as many across the islands.

The Mother Empress shall return to the islands in a few days time, following the funeral proceedings for the late Perrin Pahath-Moab.

Austrania and Nekulturnya Recognized
Recognition of Macurean Assassins Condemned

Imperial City - With a formal speech given by Tsar Nikolai III a few days ago, the longstanding division and occupation of the former patriarchal aggressor state known as Nekulturnya came to a peaceful and official end. The former nation has now given rise to two new independent states, the Republic of Austrania in the largely Germanic West and the formal creation of a parliamentary, constitutional monarchy based in the East. At his coronation, the new Tsar renounced all claims to Austrania and apologized for the militaristic actions of his father and grandfather.

In response to the announcement of this historic new chapter in regional history, the Shrailleeni government has officially extended recognition to both Austrania and Nekulturnya. The Foreign Affairs Matriarchy shall be endeavoring to establish a mutual embassy program with both nations in order to foster normal, cooperative diplomatic ties with the newest members of Northern Archeron. The peaceful, popular, and diplomatic end to the occupation of Nekulturnya has been greatly praised by high-ranking members of the Shrailleeni government, and it is widely believed that this resolution shall greatly increase stability and international cooperation in the region. The Tsar's plan for Nekulturnya, revealed in a speech from Ghant last year, was favorably received by the Shrailleeni government as a wise and honorable course of action.

Absent from the list of recognition programs was of course the so-called Liberated Meritocracy of Macureus. While several nations, mostly from Archeron, have recklessly extended recognition to the masters of the coup against the Grand Coven, the Shrailleeni Foreign Affairs Matriarchy has remained resilient in view that the Liberated Meritocracy represents nothing more than New Macurean anti-matriarchal assassination plot engineered as part of a planned offensive against matriarchal cultures and nations across the world.

That the seizure of power by treacherous and criminal elements occurred through assassination is considered to be painfully obvious by the Shrailleeni government, despite the lies and slander ejaculated from men currently in command of Old Macureus. Numerous Shrailleeni diplomats met with members of the Grand Coven the night before the assassinations, and reported all of them to be in good health and spirits. Several mentioned preparing for sleep. In no more than three hours prior to this, all members of the Grand Coven were dead. In no more than five, the current leaders had assumed power in a fashion so smooth and complete that it could only have been accomplished by deliberate design. No investigations were held, no trials, no popular transfer of power. That very day, it was announced that New Macureus would be absorbing Old Macurean units, assets, and land. For the Shrailleeni government, any doubt that this transition constituted an assassination and takeover could come only from those wretched enough to applaud such actions.

Among those wretched enough have so far included United Valik, whose immediate acceptance of the New Macurean line comes as no surprise from a nation with a history of knee-jerk hatred toward the Shrailleeni Empire and Enlightened principles. While whimpering spineless platitudes about the use of assassination, United Valik no less celebrated the crimes as a blow against matriarchy and for death to allies of the Empire. Also having offered their support and approval of the new regime have been the Federated Allamunnic States and Exalted Draconia, both of whom appeared more glad for the deaths of a matriarchal government than for principles of justice. In a stunning betrayal of recent attempts to strengthen ties, the Empire of Ghant also recognized the rogue state, most likely for backroom political reasons. The Duchess of Jedoria included Old Macureus in a sweeping acceptance of Austrania, Nekulturyna, and Gloria Regis, an unfortunate inclusion which seems to indicate more apathy than antagonism from the Belisarian state.

This cannot be said for the leaders of Gavinium Magnus, whose recent vitriolic, caustic, inflammatory, and absurd comments and accusations have shown nothing but insensitivity and outright hatred for the Shrailleeni Empire and its culture, policies, and religion. Their recognition of the new regime came coupled with a verbal assault on the Shrailleeni Empire which included unfounded claims of Shrailleeni meddling during that nation's latent troubles, as well as callous and uninformed statements against the Empire's position for Gloria Regis. It is safe to say that the Chancellor's comments have permanently damaged Shrailleeni-Gavinium relations.

Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs Sessin Kellaten outlined the Empire's official policy toward the so-called Liberated Meritocracy today, citing the key obstacles to any recognition of the rogue state:

  • That any referendum, plebiscite, or election must be internationally monitored by neutral parties in order to ensure non-interference from the New Macurean government.
  • That any reunification plan must provide for the will of the Old Macurean people through the Enlightened principles of self-rule, and must not constitute a crude takeover by the New Macurean oligarchy.
  • That the people of Old Macureus, particularly those who keep the faith, who follow the peaceful ideals of their culture, and those who keep their distinct traditions must not be silenced or repressed.
  • That a full international investigation must be allowed into the untimely and deeply suspicious deaths of the Supreme Magistra and the Grand Coven.

All of these points must be fully addressed before the Empire shall even consider recognition. The idea of including Non-Aggression Pacts was considered, but ultimately discarded as implausible. It is not believed that any nation willing to openly betray its international commitments, such as New Macureus did with the Treaty of Arod, could ever be trusted to keep its word under pressure, and it is widely believed that New Macurean hostility toward the Empire cannot be long kept at bay through diplomatic means.

New Premier Attends Funeral At Short Notice!

Postby New Othman » Tue Mar 17, 2015 12:34 am

New Ankara Sentinel,
Dilmen Unsal

New Othman's new Premier, Naim Oguz, apparently departed in a hurry for the funeral of President Perrin Pahath-Moab of New Edom, releasing only a statement saying that "The President of the Council was a truly great man and deserves this and other honors. He was a good friend of New Othman as far as he could be."

Oguz, formerly the Minister of Labor, is 57 years of age, having been born on January 8, 1958. He was reportedly somewhat cooperative in the party leadership purges that occurred under the former Premier, Ursula Weiler-Kotuk, but surprisingly, when the Premier herself was removed by those who she had thought loyal, Oguz was selected in a "party caucus" that produced him first as Chairman of the Social Republican Party, after which he was named by President Nuray Erdem as head of a minority government due to the refusal of the Social Democratic and Democratic Union parties to participate in such a government.

His recent cabinet selections have also raised eyebrows, including his wife, Cagla Nadir, as Minister of Labor in his place, as well as former Mayor of Trebizond Erdogan Yucel as Minister of the Interior. Most noteworthy were the major holdovers, Foreign Minister Dr. Kam Sporel and Defense Minister Lieutenant General Recep Borek. Finance Minister Onan Durak was Deputy Finance Minister and President of the National Bank prior to his appointment, of course. However, it was the Minister of Trade, Bulent Incirlik, that has been remembered rather less than fondly due to his past tenure as Foreign Minister, where he insulted the Imperium, Shrailleen, and Deadora in one breath.

One thing is sure...the new leader has some rather large shoes to fill, even if they are high heels. Speaking as a woman, this reporter hopes that Ursula will not be remembered so badly after all.

Omnibus Bill to Recognize States Passes

Postby Free Garza » Tue Mar 17, 2015 10:52 am

Free Garza City Worker,
Lisa Benitez

An omnibus bill to recognize foreign nations and governments, meant as a compromise, has been enacted by the Cortes after the Liberal Democrats signed on for the recognition of Gloria Regis on the condition of it remaining a democracy. If it ceased to be one, then relations would be suspended at once. Austrania, Nekulturnya, and the new regime in Old Macureus are recognized as well. Only six Christian Democrats voted against the bill in the Assembly, while three refused in the Senate. In the King's absence while at the funeral of Perrin Pahath-Moab, the temporary Regent, Princess Dora, signed the bill into law.

Sources close to the King indicated that he is rather displeased by the news, but he will "accept the law as binding under the Constitution of the realm and zealously uphold its provisions accordingly."

The King is expected to return from New Edom this coming Wednesday, and then the Princess Regent will yield her powers back to him as provided for by the Constitution and the laws of the Kingdom. While many enjoyed having her rule for a short time, many others in high places will be relieved at not having a woman married to a commoner as even the temporary head of state. The Christian Democratic majority, which had counted on her devout Catholicism, was disappointed to see the Princess willing to be so tolerant of "cultists, pagans, and atheists," to quote Cardinal Montalbano, the Roman Catholic Primate of Garza.

As a moderate, progressive, democratic socialist myself and a moderate feminist as well, I was personally pleased and surprised at how well the Regent conducted herself, acting in accordance with the will of the Cortes instead of in resistance to it, which should only happen when the Cortes is doing real harm to the nation. The sovereign should never simply veto for reasons of base and petty politics.

New Premier caught in hot mic scandal!

Postby New Othman » Tue Mar 17, 2015 3:35 pm

New Trebizond Daily Mail,
Nurhan Dogu

New Othmani Premier Naim Oguz has formally recognized the new leadership of Old Macureus, as well as recognizing the new nations of Austrania and Nekulturnya.

Image
New Othmani Premier Naim Oguz

He refused to comment on the Edomite crisis, but was overheard making a hot mic comment that, "Things would be so much simpler if they just had a dictator in every country."

Regarding Gloria Regis, the Premier was very reticent to speak up, vaguely promising, "We will work for peace and prosperity...and progress, of course."

Between this and his mixed-bag of good and bad appointments, one anonymous Social Democratic deputy called Oguz, "Jocasta with a mustache."

The general opinion of political insiders, all of whom refused to be named, was best expressed by a noted member of the Othmani diplomatic corps that, "If this is the best that the Social Republican Party can come up with these days, I am planning to vote for the Social Democrats."

President Nuray Erdem is privately rumored to hold a similar opinion himself, but he did appoint Oguz to head a minority government for now. The odds of its survival are not regarded as being very high, as Mr. Oguz is widely considered to be something of a political mediocrity. His origins in the Black Shirts, notorious penchant for cronyism and nepotism, such as giving the Labor portfolio to his own wife, and unfortunately candid moments such as the reported "hot mic" comment do not inspire much confidence in his leadership, to be frank.

As one key junior minister is quoted as saying, when asked about Oguz, "He was a fine Minister of Labor."

Massive Hutanjian Deployment to New Edom, Government Asking Questions

The Navy has apparently detected a major airlift underway bringing Hutanjian soldiers to Fineberg, the seat of Crown Princess Jocasta Obed's power in New Edom. After sources close to the Secretary of War indicated a major development involving Hutanjia was underway, ANBC inquired with the government directly, prompting the following press release from the War Department.

'At roughly 4 PM local time, naval patrols in the Tartarian Ocean detected a flight of unidentified military aircraft. Investigating further, they found it was just one small part of a sizable air force consisting of dozens of aircraft, including strategic airlifters, midair refueling tankers, and fighter escorts. This force ultimately landed in Fineberg, despite the upcoming negotiations aimed at solving the current constitutional crisis.'

'Upon detection, the air convoy was hailed by the destroyer ANS Pike, and identified as part of the Hutanjian Republican Army's Second Regimental Combat Team (HRA RCT). A small Hutanjian force, which was in New Edom prior to the Olympic Stadium Disaster, reportedly aided the Heir in disbanding the protests against her in Fineberg. However, given the number of aircraft involved, this appears to be a division-level deployment.'

The President was inevitably questioned on the subject during Question Time, to which he responded by criticizing Hutanjia's lack of transparency and calling on the Hespatu government to explain itself. "I can think of many things that won't help resolve a constitutional crisis diplomatically, and an infantry division is near the top of the list. This disproportionate, overblown show of force risks undermining the current negotiations, made all the worse by the fact that it was apparently attempted in total secrecy."

"Why didn't President Hespatu inform the international community of his intentions to commit thousands of troops to Cornellia? Or of his rationale for launching such a massive deployment in the first place?"

"As with Emperor Albert of Vorindeum, Adiron is opposed to provocative actions which threaten to destabilize New Edom and South Acheron. I therefore call on President Hespatu to freeze future troop deployments and halt all Hutanjian troop movements in New Edom until he can fully explain the rationale behind deploying such a large force to a volatile part of the globe. Furthermore, I invite President Hespatu to explain why Hutanjian soldiers were used to violently suppress peaceful protestors in Fineberg."
In-character name of the nation is "Adiron," because I like the name better.

Retaliatory sanctions, formal rejection of Shrai lies.

Postby New Macureus » Wed Mar 18, 2015 11:53 pm

New Macureus City Probe,
Alar Darin

Retaliatory economic sanctions have been imposed jointly by the governments of Old and New Macureus on the Shraileeni Empire, due to its apparent measure and sanctions against both nations. These consist of a full trade embargo, an indefinite suspension of diplomatic relations, a travel ban to Shrailleen, except for those wishing to emigrate there, and an offer of political asylum to all Shrailleeni citizens who wish to defect to New or Old Macureus at this time.

"Given the temerity of their lies about the recent Liberation of Old Macureus from the yoke of theocratic matriarchy, and their own barbaric social order, which is only now being ameliorated, not to mention the intolerable existence of their thermonuclear weapons program, given their imperialistic ambitions in Gloria Regis, Kurungarra, and Dengali, it is incontrovertibly determined that the Shrailleeni matriarchal despotism is a rogue state on the international scene, an outlaw state that has been whitewashed and represented to the region as some benevolent force in spite of all evidence to the contrary. The recent falsehoods about a supposed massacre in Arod are meant to attack and insult our Revolution, and nothing could be further from the truth. After all, would it have been wise for no one to fill the leadership vacuum and allow Old Macureus to descend into chaos and anarchy? Perhaps that was what the Shrailleeni would have preferred, as it would have allowed them to expand their colonial empire further than it already has," Foreign Commissar Dir Datin asserted.

"By contrast, we in New Macureus have worked with our Old Macurean brethren toward peaceful reunion, while recognizing that the Treaty of Arod was based upon a flawed premise, namely that there were two Macurean nations, fully sovereign and independent of each other, rather than two states within one Macurean nation. We have recently restored the national sovereignty of Nekulturnya and recognized that of Austrania. We have discontinued any efforts which might have destabilized Gloria Regis, despite our serious reservations over what appears to be a Shrailleeni protectorate forming there.

"We have offered political asylum to the Intellectual Party dissidents who are being oppressed, censored, slandered, libeled, and arrested on false charges by the illegal Feminist Militia operating on behalf of the equally illegal Feminist-Communist coalition government. We have no intention of recognizing such a regime, given its illegality, until or unless it is accepted and recognized by the mother country, the Allied States of New Edom, the only lawful sovereign in Gloria Regis. Without recognition by the Allied States of New Edom, it is no government at all and its militia is no more empowered to arrest anyone than those of the Intellectual Party or the ETC."

Second Citizen Idar Calin hastened to add that, "even if the charges of massacre were true, which they pointedly were not, I myself was in Gylias at the time of the tragedy and Third Citizen Nora Lavin was underground, both of us driven there by the oppressive former government that we have replaced. Driven there with the assistance of Shrailleen, something that we have neither forgiven nor forgotten. First Citizen Aren Dazun was simply Mayor of Arod, the first elected Mayor of that city in its recorded history, male or female. Does anyone really believe that a mere mayor could arrange a massacre?"

Foreign Commissar Datin was actually mobbed by a large throng of supporters as he entered Arod, under guard from a large contingent of the New Macurean Defense Forces. He was saluted and embraced by Calin, who engaged in some mild humor that, as he recalled, both of them had the shared experience of being expelled from something, as Datin was once expelled from the National Military Academy and Calin had been forcibly discharged from the Nalayan Army. While such amusements might perhaps be a bit unconventional by New Macurean standards, appreciating and accepting them is a vital part of embracing reunion and developing a unified sense of national identity and culture. Some concession on both sides will be preferable at this juncture, if not permanently.

Progress on Constitution Announced
First two sections completed, third nearly finished, fourth in progress
by Gyna Eriklunn

ROAN, Ainslynd --- During the weekly progress report from the Constitutional Convention on the 18th, delegates from the Convention were pleased to report a significant degree of progress over the last two weeks. The specific level of progress that was reported was the completion of the first two sections of the proposed constitution, and the near completion of a third, with work being well underway on the fourth section.

"We are quite pleased with our progress," Stannis Lynnun, who was elected President of the Convention on the second day of the event, reported. "The first section, per the General's request, was the Bill of Rights, which we consider to be crucial to every other aspect of the government we are trying to create. The cornerstone of any good, modern government is the power and protection of the constituent populace."

"The second section completed, which we were able to agree to fairly quickly after it was drafted in its final form, delineates powers and responsibilities between different levels of government. The hope is to devolve a reasonable amount of power to local governments to ensure the greatest possible autonomy and self-rule by the Allamunnic people," he continued. "The third section, which we are having somewhat more trouble with completing, outlines the structure of the Federal legislature. Needless to say, it will be markedly different than the system we currently have in place. The Regents Council is not a bad idea, but the Council alone is not enough to ensure the proper level of oversight on the Federal government."

Lynnun also explained that the powers and responsibilities of the Executive would be better-defined under the new Constitution, and a federal judiciary would also be created as a formal, independent branch.

"The consensus has been that there is a gross conflict of interest in having the courts under the direct authority of the executive," Lynnun explained. "Again, the idea is to create a system of better oversight and more balanced power than what we currently have. Our current system has an advantage in how efficient it is, and we are making an attempt to keep that in place, but with more limitations on it to prevent flagrant abuse of power should we one day find ourselves with a less discerning and conscientious executive in power."

Other delegates, including Erik Haraldsunn of Upper Tyrrslynd, were optimistic. "The document is shaping up nicely, and I think we are actually on track to complete the thing by the hoped-for and projected completion date of March 31st. There was a lot of fear coming in that there would be a lot of head-butting and quibbling, but we have managed to have very constructive dialogue and cooperation in trying to ensure that an acceptable charter for our government is drafted. Yes, there have been disagreements, but I personally, at least, have been very pleased by the civility and constructive tone of even those disagreements."

A Disturbing State of Affairs
The international community's apathy should put the future of the CPO in serious doubt

By Andrik Filius

Almost two weeks ago, my colleague, Brunnhyld Torrenlunn, made a proposal to the Cornellian Peace Organization calling for the body to dispatch a mediation mission to Gloria Regis to prevent a crisis there from escalating into a larger conflict. The measure was, by all accounts, met with fairly consistent support, receiving seven votes in favor, no votes against, with only two CPO members abstaining from the vote.

Which is why it is, quite simply, flummoxing, that when Ms. Torrenlunn and her assistants began trying to organize the particulars of the mediation mission, they encountered what could only be described as an overwhelming sense of apathy from the governments of our fellow CPO members, and from the international community at large. While, I suppose, some of this might be attributable to the wide variation in desired outcomes to the Gloria Regian crisis, the fact that no other nation besides our relatively distant and detached Federation has taken even the slightest interest in the mediation efforts is, frankly, disturbing.

In part, this is a disturbing state of affairs because of the importance of the situation. In the wake of the tragic and untimely death of Edomite President Perrin Pahath-Moab and much of his government (among numerous others who should not be forgotten, either), the constitutional crisis in New Edom, and the accompanying revolt in Gloria Regis, have prompted an alarming build up and convergence of military and diplomatic resources from several nations inside and out of the Cornellian region. The entire region of Western Acheron has quickly turned into a primed powder keg that could pull the entire region into war, should things escalate further.

And yet, the response to an attempt to defuse the situation? Underwhelming, to put it mildly.

Speaking as a representative for the federal government of the Allamunnic States, I will state that we have no vested interest in a specific outcome for Gloria Regis, beyond that it is a peaceful one that is acceptable and amenable to all sides involved. The lack of a firm stance is deliberate. It is the Federation's position that the specific outcome of the situation is less important than that it is a peaceful one that can be used as a basis for long-term peace.

I, and the federal government, hope that we will hear from other CPO nations in the near future, including New Edom, whose cooperation is so vital to this process, in support of a mediation process to ensure a peaceful deescalation of the situation in New Edom and Gloria Regis.

Here in the Federation, one of President Pahath-Moab's most positively-viewed legacies is his leadership of the CPO, his push to turn it into a proactive institution for regional peace. It would be disgraceful if that were to end with his death.

Agreement for Railroad Construction Reached between Jedoria, Spartianus, Hostillia

STRANA MECHTY - A Government spokesperson confirmed earlier today that the Confederation of Jedoria, The Holy Empire of Hostillia, and The Mamlaket of Spartianus had agreed to begin a railroad construction campaign aimed to increase trade between the two Belisarian States. According to Minister of Commerce Bogdan Avramescu, the planned construction effort would lay nearly 5,000 miles of railroad and eventually be capable of transporting nearly 600,000 tons of materials and goods per week. It wasn't yet identified what specific companies would be operating on the rail road, however national favorites like Confederate Rails remains a likely choice.

The Confederation, The Holy Empire, and the Mamlaket share a border region comprised mostly of grasslands and deserts, which while not the most hospitable, is a fairly flat terrain expected to pose no major obstacles to construction. Work is expected to begin by the end of this month and conclude later this year. The joint program was approved in the Mamlaket by Grand Vizier Khonyan Akiva and representatives of the Political Security Directorate, and by the Honored Scholar Dong in Hostillia.

In other news, the Allamunnic States have continued to call for a CPO mediation on Glora Regis.

New Edom officially changes name to Clusterfuck

The Silver Rock, Jedoria's Finest News Source

Fineberg, Clusterfuck - Speaking to reporters, spokespersons from both Monarchists factions and representatives of the End Times Church and Free Congress officially declared that the Allied States would immediately officially alter their name to the more appropriate moniker "Clusterfuck."

Officially the Allied States of Clusterfuck, the President of the Council has been identified as "Soon to Be Assassinated", with acting Minister of Economics "Probably a Immoral Bastard" and Minister of Defense "Probably Planning A Coup". The Allied States would officially designate itself a constitutional monarchy with elements of horse fuckery combined with Dear God here we go again.

The Allied States of Clusterfuck would retain all the former territories of New Edom, including all of it's problems, of which current leadership was quick to affirm they would act with haste to develop even more problems and issues that would likely devolve into infighting and civil unrest. According to early reports, cases of civil unrest and protest are already slated to increase by 300%, while foreign involvement in this fucking quagmire is sure to reach unprecedented levels.

The Allied States of Clusterfuck was quickly recognized by the international community and praised for it's rejuvenation.

"This is clearly a step in the right direction." Said a foreign official who in about three weeks will order some 16,000 of his own military personnel to their deaths attempting to support one of the factions in a futile effort that will eventually leave the country in a horrific state of disrepair and with no end to the violence in sight.

In other news, Spartianus should be destroyed.

Hyasyoda Horizon First Batch of F-37N Harpy Complete

Image
The renowned aircraft design and manufacturer Hyasyoda Horizon has finished construction of ten modified F-37s with at least a dozen more to go. As our readers may know, the F-37 Harpy was adopted by the UFAF in 2012 to serve as the backbone of the branch's manned tactical air power with many more set for production. The multirole fighter was created to keep up with regional advancements in aerial warfare and replace the F-19 Condor which as been in service since 1973. Federation Armed Services Command requested modifications be made to make the aircraft compatible with the new Ascension Class supercarrier now under construction in Folkport by the shipbuilder Liberus United. Currently the Navy fields the UFS Revolution, a light carrier with far less capabilities. The UFS Ascension will be the first carrier of its kind constructed in Novitera and largest fielded by the United Federation Navy. FASC has staunchly expressed that the Ascension will be the first and last of its class of carriers to ever be constructed and they expect it to be in service for the next forty years. The F-37N Harpy will be capable of short take off and vertical landing required by the UFS Ascension as opposed to the conventional take of landing of the standard F-37.

If the reader recalls, the UFS Ascension came under much controversy and political crisis during its inception. Government officials cited the country's need to be able to secure Noviteran security interests in troubled
Image
areas abroad which the military is lacking at this time. Although in announcing the plans for the carrier in 2003, the government faced much criticism for the large cost involved. Patriot Party Directors of the FDP who initially backed the plan were able to win votes from a few National and Commonwealth Party Directors resulting in a end vote of 15-23 in favor. National Party Prime Executor Reed Tsukuras at the time refused to replenish the FASC Budget with treasury funds in a show of defiance. Surprisingly, in a rare occurrence Patriot Party Directors were able to secure the two-third vote required for a Directorate Override of the executive functions of the federal government. Executor of Treasury Samuel Kirvira was dismissed and the Department of Treasury brought under the control of the FDP Finance Committee led by Director Andrew Miken who continued payments required to keep construction on schedule.

As the Directorate Override neared its constitutional time limit of 75 days, the Patriots were unable to secure the votes needed for an extension. Construction was halted for several months due to lack of government funding once Tsukuras was able to regain control of the Treasury. Tsukuras was lost his election in 2004 being replaced with Prime Executor Trask who continued funding the project to this day. Since then, the Directorate Override has only been used one more time when Director Emilia Planget seized control of the Department of Justice, forcing the agency to prosecute the Ishukone Corporation for antitrust violations. Once the case was settled, the FDP returned the Justice Department to the Executive right away.

Chancellor Gives Spring Address

Addresses ongoing regional crises

Image

The Chancellor's address earlier this morning stretched for just over an hour. Fortunately, for all of you, we've gone through the transcript and picked out some of the most important parts. The full video and transcripts are available as well, at the bottom of the page.

Regarding Ghant and Albert Gentry:
Furthermore, any and all threats to the Fatherland will be regarded in the same manner as they always have been. Such threats, as that presented by Albert Gentry, who has undertaken actions to intervene in, and destabilise, the already fragile state in New Edom. He has taken advantage of his initiative in a way that directly counteracts peace. He is a monarch. A man acting by his own desires, and it is for that reason that he himself is condemned. This has led to concern within the government, as to the safety of Ghant in light of recent developments in the situation there. The prevalent and threatening factionalism, in part due to the actions and person of Albert Gentry, is by extension a threat to the Fatherland. The first and foremost concern of mine, and the first and foremost concern of this government, is the protection of that which we hold dear. And so we will not allow the likes of warmongers such as Albert Gentry to threaten such. In securing this, it is also our responsibility as a nation to prevent violence and instigation where we have the power to. In performing that duty, we will make sure that Albert Gentry does not reach and instigate further violence in New Edom, even if we must enforce this duty by force.

The situation within Ghant itself is a separate matter. It is known and clear to us that lines are being drawn within Ghant, in a manner that does not bode well. These are not lines such as those drawn by political parties. These are lines drawn in an ideological split, the sort which oft leads to violence in so many cases. It should be known now that, as the situation stands, that the United Republic will not directly intervene in a military nature if violence should break out in Ghant. Our concern will be making sure that the violence in Ghant, stays in Ghant.

Regarding Macureus:
Currently, it is not solely my decision as to whether or not to recognise the recent events of New Macureus as legitimate. The nature in which the actions were undertaken has raised questions within both the Foreign Ministry, Executive Office, and Senate Commissions. I also wish for a peaceful resolution to the current disputes between the Shraileen and Macureus and, with the support of the Bundestag and the Council, extend an offer to help mediate to help peacefully resolve the issues present.

Regarding New Edom:
In New Edom, the news of the regency agreement and ensuing truce is certainly a major step forward in the right direction, and one that I support. Like the same that many other leaders around the region have voiced, I still have lingering concern over the level of stability in the nation, and at the beginning, it was clear that the death of President Perrin Pahath-Moab was a tragedy to the stability that he had created after the end of the last Edomite civil war. The peace talks to occur between the separate parties who were not to long ago threatening war shows just how far things have come, that in this instance, New Edom was able to avoid war and its conflicting factions able and willing to come to the table to talk, instead of fight, as a means of negotiating a lasting peace in their homeland.

Regarding Austrania and Nekulturnya:
It makes me proud to say that the Fatherland finally has peace. That our enemies, so long seeking nothing less than our pure destruction, are gone. Robbed of any power they may have to harm us further. A large part of this, we must thank our Austranian allies for. Without their efforts in aiding us against a common enemy in the Nekulturynan threat, I have no doubt that we would be in a far worse position.

So many of our countrymen of the older generation remember well the threat and war that came from the existence of the Nekulturnyan empire. The destruction and hatred wrought upon us under the leadership of the Zetsky-Orlov name. Those of the younger generations will be more familiar in remembering the War of 1998. Many of us were the ones who were at the tip of the spear in that year, myself included. We thought our worst nightmares had come true when we heard the sirens ring out in every town and city across the nation, our own leaders with their hands over the button that, if pressed, would turn the entirety of Nekulturnya into a nuclear wasteland and cause unthinkable long-term damage regionwide. But it did not come to that. We then thought we had finished it where it was not. Now, we are not speaking ahead of ourselves when we say that we won. Victory.

Many will say that Nekulturnya still existing is a victory. That they deserve to be wiped from the maps. Those are the words of those who still think in the past. I, we, must look to the future, and learn from the past so that it may not be repeated. The Nekulturnyans have long since payed their dues in blood to us. Soon, reparation payments will begin from Nekulturnya to both the Fatherland and Austrania. These must be the last actions of this conflict which has raged for decades. As participants, it is our responsibility to make sure that bloodshed the likes of which we have seen will never occur again on this soil. We will look forward, we adapt, and we will continue to persevere as a nation as we have for centuries. We will turn to a new chapter in our history. As a nation, together. We must not forget the values upon which we are a nation. Unsere Versprechen heißt Treue. Für das Vaterland, zu uns selbst, zu denen uns lieb und teuer. Thank you all, Mögen die Götter mit euch sein, and good night.

Outsiders to Enter Order of the Radiant Moonlight
authored by Lucy Wu, junior correspondent

The list of prospective candidates to receive the municipal honor of membership into the Order of the Radiant Moonlight was leaked from and confirmed by the Office of the Zhuren late yesterday evening. The Order of the Radiant Moonlight was established in the Hui Dynasty and was originally an Order of benevolent gentry who were known to use their lands as sanctuary for those peoples fleeing oppressive landlords, it was believed by the peasantry that a special brand of moonlight had guided them from their bonds to the lands of these enlightened landlords, the belief giving the Order its name. Since then, the Order has widely expanded to include figures from throughout the Municipality who have demonstrated "true concern for the livelihood and welfare" of the City's subjects.

Much of this year's prospective initiates is largely routine, the grandchildren of well known philanthropists who are trying to make a name for themselves, some industrialists trying to shed the image commonly associated with men of their profession, and the newer addition of a few nobly minded cadres who have made overnight fortunes acting as middlemen between the Middle Kingdom and the Lands Abroad. However, two of the names of this year's list came as quite the shock, those names are Alexan Vanetzian and Rudolf Umlauf. If the two Outsiders should accept the Order's invitation, they will be the first non-Hostillian natives to have ever received the honor in the history of the Order. However, ethnicity and nationality aside, there is nothing in either Municipality Ordinance nor the Order's published bylaws that forbid membership of non-Han as long as they otherwise meet the requirements, in fact, both Ordinance and the bylaws make quite clear that the Zhuren can appoint whoever he sees as having been exceedingly helpful to his citizens.

Alexan Vanetzian, the rank of Gndapet in the Nalayan Armed Forces, is Nalaya's chief representative to the Blessings of Longevity Accord signed by the Divine Government and the Avangardn. The agreement, according to the official announcement, provided for a small group of Nalayan health officers to join with their Han counterparts in unraveling the mysteries of the human body and searching for solutions to health issues which are common in both countries. While the announcement from Shengjing states that the Nalayans will be studying Traditional Hostillian Medicine, in Beihe, however, you're most likely to recognize Vanetzian's efforts in the form of vaccines that have been distributed free of charge at any number of the Municipality's Clinics. For his efforts in assisting the people of the City from suffering preventable disease, Zhuren Fang has nominated Gndapet Vanetzian for the honor, even with a recommendation that the Gndapet be admitted as an 8th Degree member of the Order.

Rudolf Umlauf, the reason why you have likely been hearing so much German on the streets these days, is the Emissary of Shalumite Friendship to Beihe and the other cities of the Executive Municipal Cooperative. Acting to demonstrate the goodwill of the Shalumite Imperator towards the people of Beihe and the Middle Kingdom, the Emissary has made substantial efforts to make his presence known to the people. The Emissary, along with his Hostillian advisers appointed both by the Divine Emperor and the Zhuren, are responsible for the newly reliable power grid, the port modernization efforts, and several of the recently completed factories, among a number of other projects. These efforts have not only given many occupational options previously nonexistent but have also served to greatly improve the standard of living here in Beihe, and this nomination is Zhuren's recognition of this.

For most men admitted to the Order, their admission is entirely ceremonial. However, the Chronicle suggests that the most significant benefit of membership for Vanetzian and Umlauf will not be the silver rose they'll receive at the ceremony, but rather the social capital they will be given implicitly. Membership into one of the Orders is generally considered prerequisite to acceptance in Municipal High Society, and though this may not hold true in the case of barbarians, it at the very least cannot do any harm. If nothing else, this demonstrates that the Office of the Zhuren and Zhuren Fang himself have taken notice of the efforts and have deemed them worthy of recognition and respect. Still, an offer of membership is not a guarantee that either will accept, members of the Order are given several rights (such as the ability to buy and sell land, more direct access to the Office of the Zhuren, and others) that may be seen as a conflict of interest by the gentlemen's respective nations. Regardless, the Chronicle believes the invitation in itself is significant.

BEIHE, Hostillia - Earlier this morning, the Nalayan press recieved confirmation not only that Gndapet Alexan Vanetzian has been offered membership in the noble Order of the Radiant Moonlight, but that he intends to accept the offer after recieving a green light from the Avangardn. When reached for comment, the Virabuyzh Yndhanur explained her decision, "I see no conflict of interest. This is a privilege and an honor that I am proud any of us have been offered. Vanetzian is an excellent officer and a devoted doctor. He deserves recognition and I hope this is a sign of good things to come."

When asked for his comment, Vanetzian responded, "I am beyond honored. This mission has been exceptional. Working alongside our Hostllian colleagues has been a pleasure and our knowledge has been advancing with their expert help. I continue to be impressed by them at every turn. If we can help Beihe or any other part of the Middle Kingdom in return, it is an honor to serve." Vanetzian has been working hand in hand with the local medical personnel that are pat of Outpost Shu 4 for several months now and has expressed great levels of admiration for the expertise and adaptability of his new colleagues in overcoming adverse heath challenges somtimes posed by Hostillia's unique situation, ecology, and population.

The Ambassador here in Hostllia could not be reached for comment prior to the time of publication of this article, but her office was quick to express approval of the situation. "This marks the beginning of what we hope will be a trend of cooperation between the peoples of Hostillia and our own. With all of the tense news coming out of Armavir and Dyvynasshar this week, blessings like this should be recognized and welcomed."

While domestic troubles may be brewing on the horizon, this is a landmark of success in cooperation with the outside world and the virtue of humanitarian endeavors. May it inspire many joint victories against the forces of disease and pestilence across the region. •

Press Conference Deals with Regional Crises

Postby United Valik » Sun Mar 22, 2015 8:05 pm

Glauconeum Herald,
Jan Jaruzelski

Prime Minister Dr. Basil Pappas issued a clarifying comment today about Old and New Macureus during a televised press conference, where he appeared with Foreign Minister Talia Tsaros and Defense Minister Stanislav Lubinski shortly after returning from the funeral of Brigadier-General Perrin Pahath-Moab in Fineberg, New Edom. He made a pointed comparison between events in Old Macureus and in Gloria Regis, warning that "international Marxist-Leninism seems to be the common contributing factor in both cases, and while we respect the more mainstream goals of both revolutions, those Marxist and other radical leanings give cause to worries about a possible one-party state."

"As Foreign Minister Talia Tsaros has noted, we do not condone what might have been a massive atrocity or act of terrorism committed in a political cause. We find it disturbing that several individuals serving on the former staff of the Grand Coven have mysteriously disappeared from public view, so as not to be interviewed or interrogated, nor has there been any kind of official inquiry to determine cause of death, nor any public release of a medical examination conducted by a coroner to establish that the cause of death was a tragic accident, as has been asserted by the authorities. The bodies of the deceased have not been produced for inspection by any independent investigators, nor have any witnesses been interviewed to the satisfaction of the international community. No one has even seen the bodies since the multiple deaths, in fact, nor have they been released to their families, who seem to have gone into exile.

"Now, Foreign Minister Tsaros's comments may seem to have glossed over or diminished the importance of some of these questions, but the issue at the time was more that of recognition, which cannot be held up over whether or not homicides were committed by unknown individuals, as recognition is not a matter of criminal, but of international law. Nevertheless, we propose that a formal investigation be conducted by the Macurean authorities, or failing that, by the CPO if possible, into the bizarre and alarming circumstances surrounding the abrupt and unexpected demise of the Old Coven. On this point, we concur with the Shrailleeni Empire, although we would encourage them to influence the Feminist-Communist regime in Gloria Regis there in favor of avoiding similar injustices there, such as bogus arrests, false imprisonment, and harassment of dissidents.

"That being said, we certainly favor international mediation and peacekeeping in Gloria Regis, as well as international observers, monitors, etc. to verify and inspect the proposed national elections in New Edom, Gloria Regis, and the future United Macureus. We should note that the Central Directorate leaders have raised two relevant points. One, the leaders themselves are highly unlikely to have had a direct hand in any alleged murders in Arod.

"Second, the Feminist and Communist Militias have proven the same source of potential trouble in Gloria Regis for abuse of police powers as have the Federalists and Communists in the Federal Militia assigned to CPO peacekeeping duties in the DMZ. Accordingly, and given that they lack the same official status that our Federal Militia have had, having never been properly deputized, they lack any more police powers legitimately speaking than do the ETC or Lecks. If the rule of law is to be properly respected, Feminist and Communist Militia should transfer police powers back to the regular police, assuming that any still exist. If not, they can and should be recruited from the general populace, not just one or two parties.

"It is this sort of question which prevents formal recognition of Gloria Regis, that holds it up in vote after vote in the Federal Assembly and the Senate. Naturally, garnering votes from Communist and Populist deputies is relatively easier, but if our National Liberal, Popular Democratic, Progressive League, Christian Democratic, and Federalist Parties are to be asked to vote for such a recognition, our minds must be reassured that we are recognizing a democratic republic, not another tyranny or one-party state. The principle of self-determination is respected, as the People made it clear that they want independence, but do they really want to become a Feminist-Marxist police state, that is more the issue. Recognition has gained and lost votes with each event, so I wager that a simple gesture such as producing Senator Jason Cavanaugh, who has disappeared from public view under suspicion of false arrest and torture by the Feminist Militia would be an excellent example of the sort of action that might well make all the difference.

"Now, as to Macureus, simple nagging questions linger about its revolution, though the reforms have been promising enough. The prospect of national, multi-party elections that seems to be more forthcoming of late has been reassuring as well. Again, it is worth noting Second Citizen Idar Calin, Chairman of the Intellectual Party, and Third Citizen Nora Lavin, General-Secretary of the Communist Party, the latter of whom we find more disturbing for that reason, of course, are even less likely to have been involved in what happened that night in Arod than was First Citizen Aren Dazun, who was only a city mayor and thus probably a bit more concerned with governing the capital city itself and maintaining law and order. That was more likely the context for the seizure of power, since there was a sudden vacuum of power that if not filled would lead to anarchy and chaos. Mr. Calin was by all accounts in Gylias and Ms. Lavin was underground, driven there by the old regime.

"Nevertheless, questions do remain about that matter and they are worthy of investigation, as are the events surrounding the aftermath of Nelson Smith's death and the martial-law in Sixington. Blaming innocents wasn't the answer in Sixington then, and blaming Mr. Cavanaugh in Sixington or the Directorate in Arod isn't the answer now. The new regime is there to stay, and we have to live with them. We just wish to encourage them to avoid the typical temptations of left-leaning regimes to impose new forms of serfdom and oppression, such as one-party police states. This applies both to the future United Macureus, to the current regime in Arod, and to the Feminist-Communist coalition cabinet in Sixington.

"We repeat our call for national elections and the rule of law in both places, Macureus and Gloria Regis, as well as New Edom, and we denounce the attempt to impose a theocratic pseudo-democracy on New Edom under the revived so-called Free Congress, which is notably lacking in universal former Free Congress support outside of the ETC."

Foreign Minister Tsaros hastened to add that, "despite this, we are calling for an end to blockades, plans for invasion of Gloria Regis, embargoes, and what-not against Gloria Regis, New Edom, Macureus, and Shrailleen. A termination of commerce brings war closer, not further away, and it harms only innocent people. We urge an end to strikes and lockouts as well in all countries affected by this lunacy. Peace and prosperity go hand in hand. War brings nothing but poverty and despair. We also wish to commend the Shrailleeni Empire for beginning to dismantle its feudal system at last and the two main factions in New Edom for putting aside their differences toward a constitutional monarchy there as well. We call for increased foreign assistance to New Edom, not less, and for mediators and peacekeepers there if any necessary, and we call for peace, for neutrality, for even-handed brokering, and non-intervention in Edomite national affairs."

Defense Minister Stanislav Lubinski, for his part, praised "Ossoria and TECT for their recent collaboration against piracy and the slave-trade in the Aldaran Ocean. Clearly, this is the sort of joint-effort that yields results, not reckless meddling in the domestic affairs of sovereign nations. Ossoria and TECT are examples to us all there."

Violent Outbreaks as Elections Start in New Edom

10th Military Police Regiment in Bara Province

By Annabelle Barca

Deadly clashes have erupted on the streets of New Edomite cities as voters began registering for national elections, with the leader of the National Wisdom Party in Harbourtown besieged in his office.

Ministry of Justice officials say two supporters of the National Wisdom Party have been killed in clashes with local dominant Free Congress party activists, fueling tensions on a day that the Free Congress has declared “day of judgement”.

The National Wisdom Party leader, Dr. Campion, has urged activists to take to the streets in their thousands as part of a campaign to force the Prophet of the End Times Church and spiritual leader of the Free Congress as well as Sarah Carmel, claiming succession to the Touchstone presidency, to accept the new constitution and the results of a vote for majority in the national legislature, the Chamber of Deputies.

A local Militia Commander said the two NWP activists were shot dead during clashes with supporters of the Free Congress. At least 15 people were injured, according to doctors at Harbourtown Mercy Hospital.

Violence also broke out in the capital of Fineberg and in around half a dozen towns as 10th Military Police and Free Congress followers clashed with hundreds of NWP protesters, local television channels said.

Campioin issued the call for mass protests in Bara, Gloria Regis, and Teman Province from inside his office, where he has been confined since Sunday night after Militiacordoned off the area.

The Ethnarch of Harbourtown apparently ordered 14 trucks with City Militia to establish a cordon of the NWP's Harbourtown office in order "to protect the candidate from activist violence and prevent turning the election into a bloody farce," according to the Ethnarch's Press Secretary David Crove.

The trucks, laden with sand and bricks, were wedged outside the gates of Campion's office in the upmarket Circle district and at the beginning of the road leading to the building.

City Militia designated as riot police, flanked by armoured vehicles equipped with water cannon, prevented anyone from entering or leaving the premises.

In spite of the use of Democratic Verification LLC, the neutral Callabanese firm that helped establish the electoral process, Free Congress political wing leader Sarah Carmel has accused the government of "Stepping on the shoulders of the late General Pahath-Moab's dictatorship to re-establish the monarchy. The constitution is unacceptable; they were party to usurping the rightful government. I have returned from what I now call a polite form of exile to re-establish what is right."

Prince Elijah Shalmaneser, the Regent, has been urged by Free Congress leaders to state that the current Council of Ministers are merely a caretaker organization for the purpose of elections. "If the Regent agrees to this, then we will have our vote," promised Carmel. "The constitution itself must be revisited and redone in a fair way before we will even consider this election."

Registration booths in parts of Nass, Sixington and Harbourtown were blocked by activists of the Free Congress or in the case of Sixington by Feminist Collective and Marxist activists. In Sixington and Nass, firebombings left 8 and 25 injured respectively.

In Fineberg, leaders of the Free Congress' local party constituencies have since been detained or charged in connection with the election violence, hampering their efforts to press for new polls.

NWP headquarters was locked down at midnight on Saturday, with Militiavans barricading nearby roads.

NWP officials said at least 500 supporters have been arrested, including two senior party figures, on the day of registration. Scuffles broke out near Campion’s office Sunday when a former Minister of Commerce, Julianna Lindley , was turned away from meeting him. “It’s an insult to democracy,” she said. The Ethnarch's office is currently negotiating with the Ministry of Justice to discuss confirmation of Campion's health and safety.

Some bus and ferry services heading to the capital were also suspended at the weekend in a move likely to reduce the number of protesters trying to reach Fineberg. Lieutenant-General Felicity Romain, commanding the IX Army Corps, has been ordered to establish roadblocks on roads leading between Harbourtown, Fineberg and Glasstower, though Glasstower has had no violence yet and has had only a number of demonstrations; heated exchanges have been mediated thus far by trained Militia staff organized by the Commandant, Elder Brother Ephraim.

The Prophet Samuel Under, who has consistently rejected calls for fresh elections, is to deliver a televised address to the nation on Monday night.

Photos from Ministry of Defence Testing Site Leaked

Shows first photos of experimental military hardware
Being regarded by MoD as major breach of national security and promises persecution for perpetrator

Image

Overnight, a series of photographs has been spread around the internet, said to be taken from the Ministry of Defence's testing site outside of Dachau. The Ministry of Defence has issued a statement that it is working with BfV authorities to determine the origin of the photographs, and that the individual responsible will be persecuted, with a threat of issuing a charge of minor treason.

The photographs themselves depict a single piece of hardware. A main battle tank. While no information is provided, internet users around the region have attempted to guess at identifying it.

Image

DVN itself went to several military experts at universities around the nation. Professors from government and military universities refused to answer, but some decided to answer our questions. The verdict is that the tank is unknown. The general consensus regarding the leaked photographs is that the vehicle depicted is a new, and clearly operational, prototype of a new tank design as opposed to another variant of the current KpfPz. K2 series of main battle tanks fielded by Wehrmacht and Austranian forces. Experts pointed out the fact that the tank lacked a number of features, particularly physical ones, that are trademark among K2 tanks, and so said that it was mostly likely a completely new type of tank.

The announcement comes about while debates about the increasing defence budget in the Bundestag heat up. The Chancellor has taken it upon herself to begin limiting and cutting unnecessary funding where possible, and it is known that several previous MoD projects have been cancelled. After the leak, there are only two publicly known, the other being the ongoing Projekt-ARES that seeks to outfit soldiers with modern, 21st century electronic combat equipment.

Another question being raised is what exactly this project, in designing a new main battle tank, is for. Critics of the MoD's desire for continued projects cite the fact that the Wehrmacht is already very modernised as it is, with the latest K2 tank variant, the K2A8, being fielded in 2012. So what exactly is the government preparing the military for? It's the unknown answer to that question that are leaving some merely concerned, and others extremely worried.

New Edom Crisis

(A middle-aged news anchor in a suit is seated before a window of the daytime Puerto Rojo skyline. He is seen turned to one side, speaking to someone off-camera before turning to face the viewer)

"Good evening, I'm Mark Townsend. It's been just over one month since the death of Perrin Pahath-Moab and much of the Edomite Interim Government, which triggered a constitutional crisis over succession as well as a series of strikes by the End Times Church."

(Cut to some of Olsen's footage of the Fineberg protestors moving through the streets, for some international audiences the nudity is censored)

"Disputed Cabinet appointments by New Edom's Heir to the Throne Jocasta Obed led to a sharp division within the government, triggering protests in the streets of Fineberg..."

(Cut to Olsen's footage of Unwerth's crackdown, monarchist troops dispersing the crowd in Victory Square)

"...which were put down by military forces loyal to the Heir brought in to secure the capital. The Heir's authority in these matters was contested, with some arguing she was within her rights as acting head of state and others claiming she overstepped her bounds."

(Cut to footage of Samuel Under, Sarah Carmel, and Harbourtown)

"Just as tensions within the Royal Family came to a head, however, a voice came out of Harbourtown. ETC leader Prophet Samuel Under proclaimed the reformation of the Theocratic Republic of New Edom, claiming direct succession from the Free Congress Touchstone and Finnhald governments who preceded Pahath-Moab's Interim Government, and naming former Ambassador to Adiron Sarah Carmel as President of the Council."

(Cut to some footage of the Monarchists working together. A shot of Prince Elijah, Prince Enoch, Count Lalery, and Jocasta Obed all together at the funeral was shown, as was a shot of Queen Mara amongst the others. It concludes with shots of Edomite soldiers)

"The two quarreling monarchist factions united against what they perceived was a common threat. Following the funeral truce, the Queen and the Heir's backers reconciled in a compromise. Prince Elijah Shalmaneser was named Regent until the Heir reached twenty one years of age, the Queen would receive immediate mental health care, and forces on opposing sides of the Monarchy would work to oppose the newly-proclaimed Theocratic Republic."

(Scenes of a riot in Harbourtown are shown in quick succession. A burning building, militia in trucks, mobs with improvised weapons)

"Since the compromise, the Free Congress has since rejected calls for new elections, refusing to recognize the authority of the Regency. Tonight, Senior Correspondent Chris Olsen reports from Harbourtown on the latest."

(Chris Olsen is seen standing in front of a camera, with the grey city of Harbourtown stretching out before him. Though it looks as though he might be on a balcony, he's actually on the roof of the Golden Peacock. The picture quality is lower than that of Townsend, and each question Townsend asks is followed by a delay owing to the satellite connection. The scene switches back and forth between Townsend at his desk and Olsen)

"Thanks Mark," Chris says, nodding.

"Chris, it seems that we've gone from one crisis right into another. What's happening in Harbourtown?"

"Riots, Mark. I can't really describe it any other way," he said grimly.

"Who's rioting? What triggered it?" Mark asked.

"In all the cases we've seen, it has been mainly the ETC targeting businesses and political opposition. Earlier today we caught some footage of an Intellectual Party protest being broken up by the ETC..."

(Cut to film footage)

Screams are heard as a truck charges at a group of Leck demonstrators, scattering them as dust kicks up around the truck. ETC Militia pour out, waving clubs and machetes, scarves around their faces but otherwise uncovered. People stumble back in panic and fled; a number ran towards the news crew, their faces distorted with terror. Wounded and stripped Lecks can be seen running past in terror.

“They’re driving us off the streets, they won’t let us campaign! God, they may kill us!” cried a Leck. “Get out of here!”

There's a brief cut in the footage until an ETC militiaman appears, a grin splitting his blue and white painted features. “Press! Foreign press!” he shouted in the Harbourtown Latin accent. “Look, foreign press! This is ETC victory! This is the Theocratic Republic! Now get out, and take your fake democracy with you! This land is ours!” others nearby took up a fierce howling and began shaking their weapons in the air. A number of them began to gather signs from the demonstrators and hack them up with their machetes, torn up their leaflets, destroyed their banners.

“Why are you doing this?” Olsen shouts over the crowd.

“The Lecks want to destroy our way of life, steal our resources and sell them to foreigners, turn us all into slaves, force us to turn our backs on the Holy Cross!” cried the man. “They’re unbelievers, Macureans pretending to be Edomites!”

(End of footage)

"The Intellectual Party Headquarters was also stormed by a mob and burnt to the ground. We have footage from there, but I should warn viewers that the footage is disturbing."

(Cut to some more footage. A large crowd, mostly of various citizens painted, nude, partly or entirely clothed, was gathered in murmuring chaos around a smaller group of armed ETC, including several with AK-74s who stood cheering around their two trucks and smoke black and pouring around them, now and then obscuring them. Most of the ETC had kerchiefs around their mouths. And near the burning office building, which crashed as a window exploded on one side from the heat and flames, making the crowd flinch, were two bloody headless bodies, and two of the ETC were holding the severed heads up by the hair)

"As you can see, Mark, the ETC is openly attacking all political opposition. We're not sure at this time if ETC militias in Harbourtown are operating independently or with the consent of the Prophet or the Theocratic Republic. We were actually trying to contact someone in their government just before we started this segment. However, we've also heard about pro-democracy activists and even national elections officials being arrested in the city of Nass, which is under Free Congress control as well."

"You just called the Theocratic Republic Free Congress. Wasn't the Free Congress formed to establish elections under King Mark? And now, just to be clear, it sounds like the monarchists want to hold elections while the Free Congress are opposed?" Townsend asked.

Considering the question briefly, Olsen replied "Well, times change, and we change with the times."

"Now from these footage it seems pretty clear that what we're dealing with here are full-blown riots and militia attacks, apparently with some connection to the ETC. The Heir claimed that the demonstrations in Fineberg were ETC riots as well. Do you see any connection between the two?"

Shaking his head, Olsen said "No. The demonstrations in Fineberg were nothing like this. They were peaceful, the demonstrators were unarmed, and they had a clear set of goals. There were no campaign offices bombed. Political figures weren't being assassinated. Election officials weren't arrested. The militia were restrained. Mob violence was low. What we're seeing here in Harbourtown is indiscriminate violence against anyone who is perceived as not being a true believer in the ETC. And if the accounts from Nass are accurate, it's not just confined to Harbourtown, either."

"That was Chris Olsen, reporting from Harbourtown," Townsend concluded.

(End of segment)
In-character name of the nation is "Adiron," because I like the name better.

Bundestag Places Further Regulations on 'Vaping'

Makes several controversial decisions in new bill passed

Image

Vaping is an activity which has swept across the nation in the past two years, as the products available to do the activity have become more widely available and popular. It came over so fast, in fact, that medical research and legislation on the activity struggled to catch up. This week, however, the first wave of legislation regulating Vaping and the components required to do the activity has struck.

Claims by experts that Vaping is dangerous haven't been disproven- but they haven't been proven, and neither has the claims of the other side. The largest debate on the health risks of electronic Advanced Personal Vaporisers, or APVs, is about Formaldehyde. While one study, conducted by the Dresden Institute of Medical Technology, found that Vaping can produce up to 15 times more Formaldehyde than conventional analog cigarettes. Another study, this one conducted by the Zürich Medical Institute, corroborated the findings of the Dreden Institute, but added that that vaping at extremely high voltage would cause the Formaldehyde-forming agents. However, it also stated that for the vast majority of people, it was near impossible for them to vape at such high voltage, as Vapers quoted in the report stated that it caused an unbearable burning taste.

In essence, the answer to the question of whether or not Vaping is safer than cigarettes is uncertain. And it was not a question that the Bundestag tried to answer with their legislation. Rather, the legislation, in accordance with studies, regulated the voltage and temperature of vaping devices, as well as the ages at which certain e-liquids could be used.

The Electronic Cigarette Regulation Act outlines two separate devices used in the act of Vaping. One, Electronic Mock Cigarettes (EMCs), are made to look and feel just like regular conventional cigarettes, and are only allowed to be made by Cigarette companies. By definition, the liquid cartridges in these also come pre-filled. The second category is Advanced Personal Vaporisers. These are the more common devices used in vaping. They can cost less than 100 Euros, allow the user to regulate the power level, and produce a moderate amount of vapor. The devices known as Vape Mods are placed in this category for regulation purposes.

Those under the age of 14 are not allowed to use any Vaping devices whatsoever. Those who are between the ages of 14 and 18 may not use any e-liquids which contain nicotine. Those age 18 to 21 are able to use e-liquids containing nicotine, with a content of 6 mg/ml and below. Those above the age of 21 are allowed to use liquids with any nicotine content they want, but there has been talk of further regulations limiting the content of nicotine for those over 21, and allowing medium to high nicotine contents to be available only for those who are being taken off analog cigarettes.

Unlike cigarettes, there are currently no regulations on the use of vaping in public or private areas. Cigarette regulations set the regulations for smoking cigarettes indoors and outdoors, even in private commercial establishments, but no such things exist for electronic cigarettes and business owners are free to set their own regulations.
