Revenant forces continue their advance northwards

A horrific fact has come through to Lowell City from the battling in Janus state. The 6th Armored, a unit that has been praised for their excellent combat record, has reportedly defected to the Revenant. This shock comes too late, as the first indication of the fact was when tanks from the 6th began firing on the Gwinnett state army, taking them completely by surprise. With Revenant air strikes and 6th Division formations rolling, it’s any guess how long Gwinnett and still-dark Thracia can last.

The response to this has been overwhelming. Field Marshal Ryan Fouzing was unavailable for an interview, but High Kommand has been in an uproar following this fact, and are working as hard as they can to get support to beleaguered Gwinnett and retake Janus state. Following these events, the Kapital Guard has been reinforced by the 7th Infanty Division, stationed just outside of Lowell City in Fort Rammus, just an hour to the south. With new intelligence given by the NSB and FIS, reports of infiltrators have turned up Revenant operatives and sabotage in numerous installations and a full inspection is scheduled for tomorrow afternoon to clean out Lowell City’s defenders of any kind of compromising matter.

Down south, the CPO has come under fire as Ossorian ships battle pirates out on the seas, and Edomite forces have been confirmed to have come under fire with Revenant forces, though the results of such a fight have yet to be confirmed. More on these stories when the facts are released. In the meantime, all possible units have been placed on alert, awaiting the call to action if and when the Revenant decide to keep moving westwards. All State militaries have been called to full readiness in light of the current crisis, and resource allocation has once more been shifted to war readiness, unfortunately putting heavy rationing into effect again.

Yesterday, during the Supreme Chairman’s inaugural speech before she took on her second term in office, crowds and security alike were shocked by the scream of artillery shells overhead, as military posts were hit hard by strikes and the streets were suddenly filled with men in uniforms, gunning down all who resisted. Artillery split the air and airstrikes began hammering areas where concentrations of Kapital Guard were located. Tanks rolled through the streets with impunity while helicopters landed troops on police precincts and shot every officer in sight. The Kapital Guard and 7th Infantry Division of the Haer counterattacked, but could do little in the face of the enemy, positively identified as Revenant forces, their largest offensive to date.

While word on Supreme Chairman Frieda Trotsbeck’s safety cannot be assured, it is assumed that the Kapital Guard and Huskarls will do everything they can to keep her safe. In the meantime, every unit capable is marshalling for a counter-attack to retake the city, despite delays in communications making it more difficult to move units eastwards.

With the Bolverk destroyed by a suicide bomber, the list of cities under attack is short due to lack of information, but it is confirmed that as well as Lowell City, Tritonsberg, Halvo Bay, Schmeidesse, Einherjar and every city in the southwest states are potential targets for attack, as enemy forces have been sighted in the vicinity of each of these.

CONTROVERSIAL IMMIGRATION REFORM ACT PASSES
ALIZERIA TO ACCEPT REFUGEES FROM BELISARIA

The government has today passed legislation that represents the biggest change to Alizerian immigration laws since 1936, while the Home Secretary has simultaneously announced that Alizeria will be accepting up to 1000 refugees from Belisaria, as international crises develop further.

The Immigration Act 2014 was signed into law today by King Nikolas II, after being vehemently opposed by the Conservative Party in the House of Peasants, and also by the House of Nobles who attempted to obstruct the legislation in a rare move.

According to Home Secretary Judith Brierly, the immigration reforms are designed to "encourage foreign investment and allow skilled immigrants to fill labour shortages."

The act totally removes the "whites only" clause of the 1936 Immigration Act, a clause which has increasingly become subject to international controversy. It will also allow immigrants of other faiths, including Moslems, to potentially enter Alizeria for the first time ever, and will allow unmarried, unaccompanied women to enter the country.

The new immigration system will be based on "points" which will be awarded based on factors such as income, skills, English language skills, education and on which part of Alizeria you are moving to - with the act aiming to steer immigrants away from Krostuk, and settle them in rural areas with skills shortages, such as in County Christchurch.

Three classes of permanent visa are to become available - Skilled migrant, Investor or Refugee - with the act allowing the option of temporary workers to gain permanent residence after four years provided that they have a job offer in an area with a skills shortage.

The act is also likely to relax the language requirement for people entering the country as an 'Investor', with a clause in the Act literally saying "If an investor is rich enough to talk with money, then they shall not be required to talk in English".

The reforms have been heavily criticised by the Conservative Party, with Opposition Leader Jim Humphries accusing the government of implementing an "open door" immigration policy.

"Foreigners are vicious, violent and godless, you need only read the World News to see evidence of that," He said. "So as to why this government wishes to bring them to our peaceful shores I shall never know!"

The House of Nobles also voted against the reforms by a considerable margin in a rare move against the government.

"My lords, I do not wish to behold niggers and towel-heads in my local village - and I think most Alizerian peasants feel the same!" Said Lord Harold Parker-Foot, the 3rd Earl of Chippington. "I do not wish to see our fair isle plagued by these repugnant and often stenchful savages from abroad, who speak not a word of the King's English, nor even do they accept our Lord and Saviour and his brother Jeff!"

Although there were attempts in the House of Nobles to delay the bill, the legislation passed through the House of Clergy with most members praising the fact that Alizeria would begin accepting refugees.

"I believe that this bill allows us to do God's work for those in far off lands less fortunate than we," Said the Bishop of Albion. "Yes, it is said that some heathens may come to our green and pleasant land, but surely they will see the light when they see our words and deeds."

As conflicts escalate abroad, the Prime Minister confirmed that Alizeria would "immediately" take action to grant asylum to refugees from Belisaria and other parts of Cornellia wishing to seek it in Alizeria.

"Most Alizerians cannot begin to imagine what these people have been through. The least we can do is offer those who seek peace and serenity a chance to find it here, where we take such things for granted." He said.

Government Issues Arrest Warrant for Extremist

YERASKH, Nalaya - A federal arrest warrant for Fayyad bin Imad al Din has been issued on the grounds of multiple counts murder and conspiracy to commit terrorist acts. While he is an affiliate of the Vshtali, his conspirators have not been named or detained at this time. This follows the murders of several members of the Diplomatic Service, which the Vshtali have claimed responsibility for and which the government has confirmed are the deaths bin Imad al Din is responsible for. Primarily Vatani in ethnicity, the Vshtali have been drawing their funding from the arms trade to areas on the Deadoran border and the sale of drugs throughout the country. Their talons have sunk surprisingly deeply into Yeraskh according to crime statistics released last month.

According to inside sources, Fayyad's part in the deaths of the Diplomatic Service relate to the theft of government documents designed to protect the personal information of the people killed. At present, there is no estimate for the number of Diplomatic Service personnel now at risk. One of the first to level fingers at the federal government has been Qasim bin Abd al Maajid. This may come as a surprise to the informed, as the former warlord has recently come under fire for his associations with the Vshtali in the not-so distant past as well as his sympathies towards more xenophobic extremes of the political spectrum.

"This is a grievous government error and should be punished accordingly," Qasim said in a formal statement. "The officers of the Avangardn are clearly overtaxed and unable to handle their responsibilities effectively. This is more reason that matters should be handled at a local level." This change is one Qasim has been advocating for the past several months and has put him at direct odds with the Protector. Fayyad's contribution to the Vshtali cause may serve as an impetus for wider adoption of Qasim's own political position.

Hetakhuzakan Kapitan Siran Zadian was the fastest to argue with the former warlord's position. "This could have been prevented by a more proactive stance on extremist groups within Nalaya, not a more apathetic approach," Zadian said in an official statement on behalf of the Avangardn. "We have been taking for granted our security and stability as a nation. That said, Fayyad bin Imad al Din has committed illegal acts and will be punished accordingly, as will his accomplices. We will do our duty as the Diplomatic Service will do theirs. We have already withdrawn targets to secure locations and increased security at the embassies included in the documents stolen." The Unkndirnei promise of safety comes as no surprise considering their alacrity in dealing with Vshtali threats. But why did they drop the ball this time? In what is being called an historic event, Amy Connell has been elected the new leader of the Schottic Socialists Party. The 23 year old in not only one of the nations youngest politicians but she is our youngest ever leader by some twenty years, and Schottia's first female head of state. Connell's meteoric rise to fame has seen her go from PhD student and popular blogger to High Council Leader in a matter of months. If recent polls are anything to go by then it seems like supporters are flocking to the socialists' side, this largely the result of the complete collapse of the Enterprise Party's vote.

The situation in Belisaria and other parts of the region has sparked an angry backlash against Right-wing and capitalist policies, and this has largely been blamed for the pro-business party's decline. Connell, most known for her championing of peoples right, feminist values and the working class, has definitely cashed in due to the current political climate.

Connell will however, have little time to recover, as like the rest of her party she will be on the general election campaign trail. Regarding the current council make up, the SSP will be well aware of how precarious their position is, at the moment their coalition with the Labour Party, and The Workers Party, gives them a comfortable majority. However a slip in any direction could allow another group to challenge for power.

It's always a high-pressure job, being head of any government, but for the leaders in Belisaria it is considerably worse right now. Connell will take office in the same week that planes are jetting out of Schottia, taking reinforcements and supplies to Kalakuri, the landlocked nation already feeling the pinch of wider conflict.

The Defence council have also announced that 4,000 reserves are to be called up on Monday, along with increased coastal patrols, and escorts for merchant ships traveling back and forth from the Belisarian Continent.

Athletics's incredible start to the season continued with a smashing 4-1 win at home to King's Park. Port James were once again on top form as star player Francis Keelinan scored a first half hat-trick to put the game completely beyond the Royals. Alan Doolan did manage to pull one back for the visitors after Jack Ruver could only manage to parry an Felix Scholl cross. However the result was put to bed eight minutes from time when Eusebian midfielder Joseph Preca blasted home from six yards out. The result leaves Port James top of the SPL after eight matches played.

Elsewhere, Port Sebastian continue their somewhat indifferent form, failing to beat The Blues at Dryerton. The result could have been much worse for Porty had it not been for a late Fred Dawson goal, which tied the game. New Belfast Warriors move up to second after a hard fought 1-0 win over Marionville; Callum Frir's 25 minute strike settling the game. And La Gorlions are up to fifth with another win, 3-1 away to Oakpark. Jago Avelione and Davy Ellan were on target for the Lions, along with a first goal from new signing Fredrick Houben. The 19 year old from Consumar, who has settled in well, scored with a well taken strike from the edge of the 18-yard-box.

Special Report: Terrorists Apprehended in Rhodinia

Rhodinia- At 3:45 PM, agents of the Inquisition foiled a sinister plot to bomb Rhodinia's ports and infrastructure by a terrorist cell. Two dozen men were arrested in the culmination of a dedicated manhunt originating in the Union of South Ceti. Protector Gerard was wounded in the line of duty apprehending several of the more violent offenders. Two terrorists were killed and five more wounded in the course of the arrest.

Although the investigation is still underway, the Inquisition had assured the city that at no point was the city in any danger, thanks to their constant vigilance. The terrorists had been flagged not long after entering the country, and vital components for their planned devices were intercepted before they could even enter the Imperium.

Nevertheless, the terrorists' identity is disturbing. Because there was cross-border activity in the Natapoc, this cell was initially believed to be Garda rebels, whose cowardly attempts at border raids have thus far been unsuccessful. With the terrorists in custody the Inquisition has revealed that this terrorist cell instead has ties to the Syndikat, the same organization responsible for the Soletrek University bombing. The Syndikat has ties to the Jotnar, who in turn have ties to the Ice Trolls, the group responsible for a brutal raid on Altinum.

All of these groups have a common tie: the Republic of Azurlavai. As a joint Shalumite/Ossorian/Vyrsarian offensive into Republic territory gains momentum, the "Revenant" is believed to be getting desperate. First the Soletrek University bombing, then the abduction of Shalumite Princess Annabelle, and then the sudden seizure of Janus State. Not even the CPO is safe: New Edomite peacekeepers were ambushed at their landing zone, killing hundreds of Edomite soldiers. The Imperium is a contributing member to the CPO Mission to Azurlavai, and may have been targeted for its involvement.

Most disturbing of all is what may happen to Altinum, the island the Imperium is sworn to defend. In a bid for relief from the Royal Ossorian Navy, the Revenant may seek to seize the island and close the Southern Passage. If Altinum should be attacked, the Imperium will have no choice but to enter into a war with the Republic of Azurlavai.

Why don’t you tell us, Deacon? With High Kommand destroyed and the Assembly scattered with Chairman Trotsbeck MIA, the Commonwealth’s own Council Deacon arrived in Tritonsberg after a hasty exit from the besiege capital city, immediately using the port as the Commonwealth’s next command post to coordinate the attack from behind his CPO and League bullet shields. Upon queried by a local reporter on the tragic bombing that has slain thousands of people in the east, the Deacon had this to say: “No, I’m not going after the ones who fired those missiles. We have enough to worry about here on the warfront at home. Besides, these people fired on the enemy. Everyone who lives in Revenant territory that does –not- actively resist is a traitor and a coward! In fact, I –do- want to find out who launched that attack, and pin a damn medal on them!”

In the wake of this statement, and with the besieging of Lowell City, thousand of Commonwealth soldiers have left the ranks of a leader who does not care, and have already given themselves over to Revenant authority. With these courageous men and women on our side, we stand poised to depose the ineffective confederate mess that has failed to solve any of the issues plaguing our Fedreland since the end of the War Between the States. We ask of our brothers and sisters, lay down your arms and join a nation that will fight for you, and is actively attempting to reveal the identity of these savage mass-murderers. In the meantime, we ask those who stay to look at their leader, who has seized power illegally by –your- laws as he dominates all three branches of government and ask yourself why you are fighting for him and what he will do for you.

International Deployments Escalate



Edomite Peacekeepers deploy in the southwest

While the world was quite content to keep out of the affairs of our country for the last decade, recently the Cornellian Peace Organization and Belisarian League have both stepped up their levels of troop commitment to the area. Humanitarian aide workers and military forces have both landed upon our shores to bulk up the Commonwealth’s own efforts in holding up their failing government.

While regrettable, the fact that forces aligned with our cause were indeed tasked to attack and delay the deployment of Edomite military forces was seen as worth the risk to ensure a slowed response to Operation Vraskyl. Though this has backlashed on our international relations, it has, in this reporter’s opinion, gained something quite important; the political recognition we need if we are to not only win this war, but to convince the world that we are in the right. Reparations are to be made, of course, though diplomatically recovering from what was a clear act of aggression on peacekeepers will have to take some extended effort and time with the world community.

For the time being, a tense ceasefire between our noble warriors on the front and CPO peacekeepers has been called while reparations and assurances from our Field Marshal are made that further aggression against humanitarian protection will not be carried out. With recent talks of negotiations with the Shraileeni Empire have put us one step closer towards securing political standing internationally, things have also reached a head with the arrival of many more peacekeepers from Adiran and those from Rome breaking off to declare their intent to reinforce Halvo Bay. Whether this means the Roman Empire is attempting to invade Azurlavai, as well as these missile attacks on our soil have made it quite clear that all diplomatic relationships are in jeopardy at this juncture.

Whether we are successful or not depends much on the outcome of this war.

Breaking: Imperium Bombs Azurlavai

In an emergency press statement minutes ago, President DeGroot announced that the Imperium has launched an all-out strategic bombing campaign on Revenant territory in Azurlavai. The Adiran Strategic Satellite Command observed what appear to be hundreds of cruise missile strikes throughout eastern Azurlavai, generally targeting infrastructure and industry. Satellite photos revealed that a major launch took place using ground-based platforms on the Imperial protectorate of Altinum, but given the sheer scale of the attack and the missile trajectories, it is believed that a majority of the missiles were launched using naval assets throughout the Southern Passage.

The President soundly condemned the attack. "The Imperium has once again demonstrated its complete disregard for human life and international rules of war. The vast majority of the targets struck were not military targets but civilian infrastructure, apparently in an effort to disrupt Revenant military activity. Analysts are still working to assess the full cost of the attack, but they believe at least a million people are directly dependent on the infrastructure hit for their very survival. Given the Imperium's long history of disproportionate retribution, we must also consider the possibility that this was intended as an over-the-top retaliation for the recent harassment of Altinum by Revenant-affiliated criminal groups."

"I intend to open dialogue with Admiral Elijah Shalmaneser, commanding officer CPO Mission to Azurlavai, about dismissing the Imperial forces accompanying the mission. It is clear the Imperium is not a neutral party to be trusted with peacekeeping on this mission. This grossly irresponsible attack is likely to make any negotiations between the CPO and the Revenant far more difficult, especially considering there have already been clashes between Revenant and Edomite CPO forces."

Virtually none of the targets struck were military. Instead, the intent behind this attack appears to have been to disrupt the Revenant's building offensive by creating a crisis behind their lines. Power plants were hit, plunging entire cities into darkness. This would cause massive disruptions in communications, healthcare, and any refrigerated food storage. Water purification plants were smashed, which will likely cause major health and sanitation crises in larger cities. Transportation lines were targeted, notably ports, rail junctions, bridges, and major highways; in addition to hindering the movement of military forces, this will also cut off cities from sources of food and fuel. Finally, manufacturing complexes were attacked with thermobaric weapons, which in addition to the sheer loss of life will in many cases cause economic upheaval in the already-struggling Republic of Azurlavai.

Although our analysts disagree as to the full scope of its effects, they agree on one thing: without aid, the Imperium will have created one of the worst humanitarian crises in southern Belisaria.

The President also condemned the military buildup on Altinum. "In addition to the cruise missile strikes, SATCOM has confirmed the construction of airfields on Altinum near the city of Cirpi. The intelligence community believes that the State of Emergency put into effect after the raid on Clausentum could very easily be abused by the Imperium to take de facto control of the island itself. Southern Belisaria should recognize that there is a rogue state at its doorstep."

The Scourge of the Revenant

Throughout the Imperium, the Revenant has demonstrated how it plans to fight: terrorism. Following the Imperium's declaration of war, subversive groups affiliated with international organized crime attempted to gain access to the Imperium and carry out plots to massacre innocent civilians. If not for the ever-vigilant sentries of the Protectors and the Inquisition, thousands may have been killed. However, the Emperor protects.

Over two hundred terrorists were arrested throughout the nation. In their haste to retaliate and undermine our resolve, the terrorists revealed themselves to the Emperor's watchful sentinels. Three assassination plots were foiled; in two cases the conspirators were apprehended before any plans went into action, in the third they were lured into a trap. Multiple bombing plots failed, many targeting office blocks, apartment complexes, airports, power stations, bridges, water treatment plants. Had the Inquisition missed a single detail, part of this multi-stage attack may have succeeded.

There was even an attempt at the border to deceive Imperial troops into firing on the heretics, which would have prompted the feckless lunatic DeGroot to open hostilities on the Imperium once more. However, this too was defeated by the Emperor's will.

One thing is clear: this is the true face of the Revenant. Any who oppose the suffering it has imposed on Azurlavai will be targeted. The Revenant is rife with terrorist, criminals, murderers, and pirates. For the sake of international peace, the Imperium will see them defanged.

Jeizzen, Deadora-- The sun is setting, children are being put to bed, and the night watch prepares for their rounds. Idyllic, serene, it is the model of any small Imperial settlement. Here families labour, laugh, and love in the security of the Matriarch Empress's shadow. What could possibly shake that confidence?

Jeizzen is a small town north of the Dengali border. It is also home to Deadora's largest solar power station, which was able to be heavily modernized thanks to increased revenue from the FODE economic bloc, to which the Empire is a founding member. Residents take great pride in the steps their community has taken in reducing their consumption of fossil fuel based energy, benefiting Deadora and the entire world. It can hardly be imagined, then, the horror felt when a pillar of fire rising up from the solar station lit up the night, and a shockwave rattled windows in their panes. What happened?

Dengali. The small nation on the Sabri Sea is nominally a Shrailleeni protectorate, but good governance only reigns along coastal territories. The interior remains clutched by the patriarchal chaos of anarchy. Warlords and gangs wage petty wars against each other, raping and devastating land and innocents both. They have turned their eyes on Deadora in the past, but such success has eluded them for decades. Even so, Internal Security was able to intervene before all the explosives were detonated. Were it not for the swift and courageous action of our police, the entire plant would have been leveled. InSec Matriarch Primus, Orletta D'Beihd confirmed that one prisoner was taken alive, and confessed the terrorist plot once in custody.

Matriarch Empress Thrall awoke before dawn, and by the time the sun was rising over Jeizzen she had this to say: "These acts of terror cannot go unpunished, or they will try again. Savages want to destroy the peace and livelihoods of innocent Deadorans; this I will not allow. The situation south of the border is intolerable, and if the government of Dengali cannot eradicate this menace, than Deadora will have no choice but to intervene."

Empress enters into premature labor

BREAKING NEWS

Ghish, Ghant— Empress Sophia of Ghant has been rushed to the hospital following her water having broken, with the royal baby inbound. The baby was expected around Thanksgiving, but has decided to come a few weeks early.

The nation now holds its collective breaths as it awaits the royal baby, the first royal prince or princess born to Ghant in 20 years.

Should the child be a boy, he will be the first in line to the throne after his father. It would be first time that Ghant has had a crown prince since 1997. Should the child be born a girl, then the Emperor’s uncle, Lord Prince Albert of Ghant, would still be next in line to the throne.

Due to Albert’s unpopularity within Ghant, recent polls have indicated that a whooping 95% of Ghantar are hoping for a boy. Should it prove to be a girl, however, there has been talk of amending the Constitution so that she would be eligible to succeed to the throne, provided she has no brothers.

A communique has been released indicating that Marcus Macrinus Asinius, the Roman military commander in Azurlavai, may have acted in advance of the Emperor's orders, perhaps in anticipation of them, as the Emperor not yet given him a change of orders. This, if true, is a serious contravention of the chain of command and is likely to have him removed from command.

According to the anonymous source, "Macrinus was extremely worried about the actions of the Revenant on the ground and feared that while the Empire 'played at peacekeeping', his words, the Revenant took advantage of the shield provided by the CPO to attack the Commonwealth and achieve its final victory in the capital. He clearly felt the need to take swift and decisive action, and he, in fact, strongly urged the Emperor to invoke Chapters VIII, X, XI, and XII, but he didn't believe in the short run that he could afford to wait while the Revenant 'imposed a terroristic state on Belisaria'. Macrinus also personally revealed personal contempt for the whole peacekeeping idea, calling it 'half-assed soldiering', an opinion that the Emperor apparently did not share, much to his frustration, as witnessed by Macrinus claiming that 'our Augustus is a man of peace, but a soldier would get that what we need is to put an end to this charade and end this business with a damned army, not just two measly legions.' This is clearly an act of insubordination and once this gets out, Macrinus may have to face serious charges of dereliction, insubordination, etc. It is apparent that while the Roman authorities were investigating the breach of orders and the Emperor was locked into a battle of letters with the Boy General and the President of Adiron, the Augustus was privately furious at Macrinus not waiting for an actual change of marching orders. The damage is done, however, and the Emperor chose to take personal responsibility rather than blame one of his commanders for the action taken."

While one can sympathize with Macrinus and his frustration with being stuck with peacekeeping while the Revenant continued to threaten all of Belisaria, the Emperor is the commander-in-chief, and this reporter felt it remiss not to bring this to the light of day, so that a general's insubordination is dealt with as it should be. Macrinus is a fine soldier, but a poor commander, because he forgot that the final command authority is the Emperor himself and that it is unlawful to defy him or even force his hand. Macrinus should be given a post where he can do less harm and reduced in rank to one with less responsibility. Macrinus apparently had tunnel vision and forgot that his first duty was to follow orders, especially those from the Divine Augustus himself. Given the history of the Empire, this is particularly risky with one of such blue blood. Perhaps the Augustus trusted, as did we, that those days were behind us, but the threat of a usurper from the legions is nothing to sneeze at.

UPDATE: We have confirmation that Macrinus has been arrested by military police for insubordination and mutiny, meaning that he will face a court-martial for his actions. If convicted, he could be executed by a firing squad. The new commander, Lucius Aemilius Calvus, is a former centurion raised to the tribunician rank for meritorious service and courage. The Master of Soldiers, Count Rufinus Arcadius, declared that, "while it was not intended for this case to be dealt with so publicly, now that it has been, there is no reason to delay the replacement and arrest of a disloyal field commander. We have reason to believe that he may have had intentions of declaring himself Augustus and overthrowing the State." The naval commander, Caelius Jovianus, could not be reached for comment, but as he was acting under orders, he was probably misled by Macrinus as well. An inquiry into this matter will likely be established by Count Eudes of the Imperial Roman Navy, anyway, just to be sure.

(Ghish, Ghant)- It is official- The Empress has given birth to not one, or two, but three babies.

After a long day of labor, the Empress has given birth to three babies- Princess Imperial Sara, Crown Prince Nathan, and Prince John. The babies were all delivered naturally. Sara was 6 lbs. 6 oz., Nathan 6 lbs. 4 oz., and John 4 lbs. 5 oz.

After the birth of the Crown Prince, the Bells of the Tower Ghish began to ring. The Bells of the Tower only ring on the occasion of the birth of the heir to the throne or on the death of the Emperor. The last time those bells were rung was on May 19th, 1997, when Nathan became Emperor. The time before that was on January 14, 1988, when Nathan was born.

The first two babies are twins- Princess Sara and then Prince Nathan. The third baby, Prince John, was the result of an exceedingly rare phenomena called superfetation.

According to MedicineNet, superfetation is an “extremely rare situation in which a pregnant woman becomes pregnant a second time with another (younger) fetus. Superfetation is characterized by the fertilization and the implantation of a second oocyte in a uterus already containing the product of a previous conception. Superfetation is different from the process of twinning or multiple gestation and involves the conception of an additional fetus during an established pregnancy. With superfetation, the two fetuses have different gestational ages and due dates. Superfetation can occur in some animals but is so rare in humans that fewer than 10 cases have been reported in the medical literature.”

Prince John is said to be in between a fair and serious condition, on account of being premature and a part of a large pregnancy. The Empress, said to have lost much blood, is also said to be in between a fair and serious condition.

The nation is erupting in celebration as a result of the birth of the Crown Prince, with people taking to the streets to cheer and praise the Empress for giving them an heir to the throne. The baby is considered as a possible match for Marcia Valeriana Gehenna, the recently born daughter of Emperor Valerian of Rome and Serena of Tartarus.

The Prime Minister is expected to make an announcement in the morning, and further developments will be reported on. But in the meantime, we at the Ghish Post would like to congratulate the Emperor and Empress on the arrival of Princess Sara and Princes Nathan and John, and we hope that all the babies and their mother are in good health and get to go home happy soon.

DRESDEN- True to the statements given in 2007, in which the MoD said it would begin searching and researching for its Projekt-21, the future of the Vyrsarian infantryman has been unveiled at the Military's annual autumn exhibition. Many experts have given their opinion on what will become the new standard issue kit for Vyrsarian troops, namely on the dividing line between practical or impractical.

"This new equipment is simply not necessary. Our soldiers have been performing fine for years in the equipment they have now," says Albrecht Hausen, a defence adviser and consultant. However, not all share his views.

"These results from the Projekt-21 research are absolutely, unquestionably only a step forward for our military. The new armour provides more vital protection at a lighter weight and more comfortability, both of which are key to allowing a soldier to operate for long durations. The modularity of the armour allows each soldier to outfit himself to what works best," says Erich von Bruch, a security consultant for Blacklight Global Defence, a private security firm that has expressed interest in S&K Armament's newest pieces of kit.

Imperium Commits Act of Terror, Blames Terrorism

Imperial City - Not long ago, as the violence in Azurlavai escalated into a full-blown civil war between the United Commonwealth government and the organization known as the Revenant, hundreds of missile strikes launched from a then-unknown source devastated the heart of Revenant-controlled territory. These missiles were aimed not at military targets, but at hospitals, roads, power plants, factories, and water treatment plants, many of which were located in urban centers. This massacre cost untold numbers of innocent lives and sparked the rise of a new humanitarian crisis, and in shame the perpetrators of this vile and cowardly attack chose to conceal their identities from a shocked and affronted world.

In the wake of this devastation, the Shrailleeni Empire voiced its condemnation, and vowed to see justice done. Today, the Shrailleeni government has joined the Republic of Adiron in announcing that the criminals behind this act have finally been identified. Indisputable proof has shown that the missile barrage was launched by ship and by way of the island of Altinium as part of an unannounced and savage attack on the people of Azurlavai by the Imperium of Arbites.

"An inexcusable act"

The Imperium has attempted to justify their actions by citing ill-proven terrorist plots against themselves, but the dishonorable and cruel nature of their first attack, made long before any formal declaration of hostilities or mention of these supposed threats, has drawn a strong critical response from the Shrailleeni government. Calling the missile strikes "inexcusable," the Imperial Palace has announced that the Empire shall hereby enforce a full embargo against Imperium-Shrailleeni trade, barring Imperial ports from use by Arbiter shipping and halting all exports and imports indefinitely. Additionally, the Foreign Affairs Matriarchy has declared that the staffing of the Shrailleeni embassy to the Imperium will be greatly reduced, with the possibility of a complete downgrade "not out of the question."

These measures, while harsh, have been deemed appropriate by the Imperial government given the severity of the crime committed. Her Enlightened Majesty the Mother Empress made a rare public appearance to speak on the matter, and to explain the strength of the Shrailleeni condemnation.

"This has nothing to do with the Imperium's recent declaration of war against the Revenant. That declaration is a sword raised to the backs of the Imperium's noble supposed allies in the CPO, and their choice to glorify violence over keeping peace is deeply discouraging. However, their vicious attack upon the innocent people of Azurlavai goes far beyond discouraging, it is shameful, dishonorable, and disturbing. The Imperium launched hundreds of missiles at civilian targets, their deadly and deliberate intention to cause as much pain and destruction to those innocents as possible. The deaths that they caused are a massacre, and the humanitarian crisis which now looms as a result borders on the unthinkable.

This attack not only violated the Shrailleeni code of honor, but also the honor of all peace-loving nations. It was made without provocation, and without declaration of war. If this is an example of how the Imperium conducts itself, then I do not see how any Cornellian nation can sleep peacefully. Today it is Azurlavai, which nation's people shall be the next to see the Imperium's wrath? They show no distinction between solider and civilian, no respect for the lives of the innocent, and no regard for any kind of civilized warfare. There is no justification for this kind of suffering. It is an inexcusable act."

Although she did not state as much, the Mother Empress strongly implied a concern that the Imperium might become involved in the recent and unfortunate spread of protests across the Home Islands. Having shown that they are happy to conduct war upon innocent populations, there is worry within the Imperial government than any political opposition movement deemed hostile to the Imperium's interests may become the target of a similar indiscriminate attack. Certainly the stance of the Mother Empress, to prevent bloodshed as much as possible, is a far cry from the option chosen by the Imperium.

As a continuation of the measures being placed against the Imperium, the Imperial Palace has affirmed that the Shrailleeni delegate to the Cornellian Peacekeeping Organization has called for the removal of the Imperium from the council of that honorable and esteemed body, citing the dishonor brought upon the organization by the Imperium's actions and the hypocrisy wrought in the humanitarian crisis which it has caused. When questioned about the feasibility of the move, the Shrailleeni representative to the CPO stated that "a war crime of this nature simply cannot be allowed to pass by uncontested by civilized nations," regardless of whether or not the motion passed. Rumors that a similar motion has been brought before the Federation of Oil-Producing Economies have not been confirmed.

"Humanitarian crisis"

Meanwhile, the situation in the states effected by the Imperium's missile barrage has become a full-blown humanitarian crisis. The destruction of vital power stations, roadways, and medical facilities has effectively plunged the entire region into a blackout. It is expected that in the next few weeks, more civilians will die of starvation and disease than have perished in the last year of actual fighting. And the Revenant, the only government present in those regions, is powerless to rebuild.

In response, the Shrailleeni Volunteer Organization has mobilized to triple the number of Shrailleeni aid workers in Azurlavai, with a new action plan being formed to bring aid directly to the areas effected by the Imperium's bombardment. Successful negotiations with Field Marshal Svakke, leader of the Revenant, have granted the Empire safe access to these areas, an access which shall hopefully be mirrored for the CPO. In addition to the standard field supplies, the SVO has announced that they intend to bring emergency generators with them as well, in the hopes of bringing power back to the medical facilities left dark by the Imperium.

Acting quickly, it is expected that millions of lives can be saved.

SDP: Mathias König (Incumbent)

Young and highly intelligent, nobody had expected Chancellor Koenig to win the elections four years ago. However, that is exactly what he did, and in a landslide victory. Coming in with an already successful and shockingly brief career as Senator and Councilman, what made Koenig most likable was his dedication to balance on the foreign stage, and more focus at home. Somewhat controversial of him has been his reluctance to go with his party's calling for a stronger stance on the international stage for the Vyrsarian Confederation. Since gaining the Chancellery, Koenig has instituted revised Social policies and programs taken over from Chancellor Behrens. His revisions to the policies have had the effect of more stable and reduced taxes, as well as more even spreading of Federal funding for Education. His healthcare reforms have made the National Health Service more efficient, in particular with allocating several jobs formerly performed by hospitals, such as emergency response, to other emergency response services, easing the amount of responsibilities for the NHS and allowing more medical funding to go towards internal improvement of healthcare facilities. His policies on defence, while now more controversial, have had the nation relatively contempt over the years despite intense combat and violence in counter-insurgency operations into Nekulturnya.

SDP: Alexandra Adenauer-Vandenberg

Much has been said about Senator Adenaeur-Vandenberg, namely on her personal life. Originally what would be considered by royal tradition as a 'bastard child', Senator Adenauer-Vandenberg fought her way through school to receive her Abitur as top of her class and graduate from the University of Augsburg with top marks. She fought equally hard, against the doubts of her royal blood, to be elected as a Senator for Sachsen-Anhalt. Since, she has proven herself as one closest to the people. A very outspoken member of the SDP, Senator Adenauer-Vandenberg has called for a stronger stance for the nation on the international stage and is also a known Nationalist (Though by no means a member of the NDP). She strongly advocates for the continuing of Senator Koenig's social programs and policies, as well as maintaining the current defence budget policies. For this, she has gained favour just as strong as Koenig and the two are known to have a close personal friendship. A controversial topic about her and her campaign is that her royal blood, by technicality, would allow her to be named Kaiserin while in office as the Chancellor. With recent known talks between the Kaiserin and the Council concerning further transferring of stronger executive power to the Chancellor, the prospect is certainly an interesting one.

VEP: Wolfgang Ziegler

Heading the more centred VEP campaign is Senator Wolfgang Ziegler. With a long and successful career in politics and a reputation for truly representing his constituents, the experienced Ziegler is perhaps the strongest candidate for finally bringing down the dominance of the SDP in the Bundestag by taking office as Chancellor. While he hasn't advocated completely replacing Koenig's social policies, unlike some other of his more right-aligned fellow VEP members, Ziegler has proposed the idea of revising them. Ziegler's stance put forth a Vyrsar in which there are fewer social policies and a stronger front internationally, the former having gained him some support by a few but not truly strong popular support. His concept of raising the defence budget and taking away from the law enforcement budgets have also brought down his potential popular support.

Senator Zoeller's campaign has long thought to be one of the better put forth by the KDP in recent years. On the front, Zoeller stands as the perfect representation of his party. A strong believer in the original pre-1857 Confederation, he believes in more powers being delegated to the States than to the Federal Government. Besides that, his other stances largeely mimic those of Ziegler, his VEP counterpart.

Premier Ursula Weiler-Kotuk has formed a new, reshuffled cabinet in the wake of the assassination of Foreign Minister Akdogan Basar, with Dr. Kam Sporel, a moderate Islamic scholar and professor of philosophy at New Ankara College, as Foreign Minister. Trade Minister Recep Adnek has become the new Ambassador to New Edom, while Aminu Awidan, a leading economist and a Chaldean Christian, has replaced him in that capacity. Deputy Premier Akonder Tufan has continued his present post, as has Defense Minister General Recep Borek. Despite loose talk of minority governments, the coalition of the Social Democrats and Social Republicans has survived yet another crisis so far.

Also in the news, Prince Bulent, oldest surviving claimant to the defunct Sultanate, has died of complications of triple bypass surgery. He was 69. The Monarchist Party hailed him as "the model prince and the sad case of a man who was robbed of his destiny." The late prince was extremely controversial for his support of honor killings, female circumcisions, arranged child marriages, slavery, Sharia law, expansion of territory by means of aggressive war, and absolute monarchy. He labeled New Edom a "a Christian Crusader state threatening all Muslims in Cornellia" and the CPO as "a Judeo-Christian conspiracy to make slaves of the rest of us."

The next senior claimant and widely considered true heir is Prince Bulent's somewhat moderate younger half-brother Prince Suleiman, aged 62, who has been known to favor a secular New Othman and a constitutional monarchy, albeit one with a fairly conservative and nationalist bent.

Dr. Sporel has already been noted for urging New Othman's admission to the CPO and the NCTO, though he noted the "unfortunate defection of the Imperium on the Azurlavai issue and the apparent parochialism, however understandable from the Roman viewpoint, of the Emperor Valerian's 'strict legalism on the BSA regarding the neutrality issue'."

A bill to decriminalise homosexuality has narrowly passed its first reading in Parliament today, sparking protests and moral outrage among religious groups.

The bill, a Private Member's Bill sponsored by Fran Baldwin, the Liberal MP for Centerton City, would abolish the ten year jail sentence for men or women engaging in homosexual acts in private and make it legal for anyone over 18 years to engage in consensual homosexual activity in private.

The bill was opposed by all Conservative MPs, and a smattering of Liberal MPs representing marginal constituencies, but managed to pass its first reading by a handful of votes.

A petition which is to be presented to Parliament when the bill goes to Select Committee looks set to gain over a million signatures - nearly a third of Alizeria's adult population, becoming the largest petition in Alizerian history.

The petition was organised by Father Gordon O'Hare, the Senior Priest at Saint Paul's Church in Palacewood, an affluent suburb in Krostuk which has become something of a centre-point for one of the most well-funded and well-organised campaigns of political lobbying Alizeria has ever seen.

Father O'Hare's organisation, "The Family Values Institute", has seen hundreds of people canvassing and sending leaflets all over the country, sometimes even covering entire towns. The Institute has lobbied politicians, with tactics that critics have described as "intimidation and blackmail", placed graphic images of the rectal wall in newspapers to "spread the facts on homosexuality" and has even sent a 'research delegation' to Gylias, where homosexuality is known to be both legal and widespread.

The findings of the institute were sent to a number of Conservative MPs, who went on to regale Parliament with details of "unbelievably crude acts".

"All I know is that if the good Lord wanted us to procreate the race through the rear, he would have placed a womb down there!" Said Samuel Truman, the Conservative MP for Cass Bay.

Many Conservatives claimed that if homosexuality was legalised, the next thing the Liberal Party would do would be to lower the age of consent to four.

"They already showed clearly that they hold no regard for the sacred institute of marriage. First they supported promiscuity, now it's homosexuality, next it'll be incest, bestiality and paedophilia!" Claimed Conservative MP Millicent Ingham during the debate.

Meanwhile Fran Baldwin, the Liberal MP who sponsored the bill, showed the House a letter she received from a Christian calling her a "revolting slut" and which called for her to be "beaten unconscious with the Holy Bible". Although it was referred to Police, Ms. Baldwin has said she will not press charges against the individual who sent it.

"The tactics used by the people who oppose this bill have revealed that there is something truly ugly in Alizerian society that has until now been swept below the surface," She said. "The world has changed and yet we have retained a 19th century values system. Our isolation has meant we do not realise how unacceptable and outdated some of our laws are. And we have a huge group of people who claim to be loving Christians but yet have an obsession with sex, an apparent desire to engage in violence and an intolerance that is at direct odds with the teachings of Jesus Christ."

Ms. Baldwin said that though she expected opposition, she "did not expect that people would throw huge amounts of human and financial resources into it" and that there would be so much of an obsession with the issue.

Dr. Sydney Burchard, the Alizeria Daily Herald's chief political correspondent warned that the bill "could be the straw that broke the camel's back" and could act as a lightening rod for violent protests that "threaten to tear Alizeria apart".

"Since the Ashton government came to power, Alizerians have sat quietly and watched huge changes to the economy, to foreign policy, defence, immigration, education, healthcare... their entire world has been turned upside down by the most reformist government we have ever had," He said. "Legalising homosexuality, despite not being a government bill, could be the spark that sets off the powderkeg. A lot of people in Alizeria are very angry at the changes in this country and the reaction to this bill will certainly make or break the Ashton government."

Several Liberal MPs voted against the bill, claiming that they were bowing to the opinion of their constituents - a claim echoed by a number of Conservative MPs who were known to privately support the bill.

The Family Values Institute carefully broke down the petition to show how many signatures were in each seat and sent them to every MP in Parliament, warning particularly Liberal MPs and members in marginal seats that "anyone who votes in favour of the bill will surely lose their seat at the next general election".

While some have claimed that the bill mirrors a similar bill presented in 1988 - which was voted down by three quarters of Parliament at its first reading - it has to be noted that one of the votes in favour of the Homosexuality Law Reform Bill came from none other than Prime Minister Anthony Ashton, marking the first time in history that an Alizerian Prime Minister has openly supported homosexuality.

Ashton's support may be crucial to success of the bill as it goes through Parliament, with timid Liberal MPs who may have felt uneasy voting yes to the bill now able to support it confidently, given that it has the Prime Minister's backing.

STRANA MECHTY – In a hastily called press conference, Duchess Luminita Vianu quickly and rather nervously confirmed that the Jedorian Government was “Extremely informed about that shit going on in Azurlavai”.

“Yes, yes, we’re totally in the know about that whole stuff going on in Azurlavai.” Said the Duchess while rapidly reading through a news paper that seemed to be about the ongoing civil war. “Yes, our intelligence agencies are discovering right now new and useful information about the Covenant, I mean, Reve-Revuh, - Fuck, how do you pronounce that?”

The Duchess went on to state that the Jedorian Government was ready to take action about “Whatever the fuck was happening.”, and was planning on releasing further statements as soon as quote “This God damn news network website decided to stop being a bitch and just fucking load.” Field Marshall Dimitri Vadam quickly confirmed that the Jedorian military, which was totally involved in this whole CPO stuff, was preparing to respond to the Revenant threat, by doing something with “missiles, and jets and shit. Oh and tanks too!”

The Duchess concluded the conference by folding up her newspaper and proudly proclaiming that Jedoria would assist it’s allies in any endeavor as soon as she found out what the flying fuck was going on.

New PM Takes Center Stage In Wake of Nationalist Victory

Following Sejm elections last week, head of the nationalist Wolnosc i Demokracj party, Anya Rosenkrantz, was sworn as prime minister by Grand Duchess Izolda yesterday afternoon. The swearing in of Ms. Rosenkrantz marks a number changes and a couple of firsts for a Sejm that has been dominated by coalition of liberal parties for the past twenty years. The most surprising and glaring of these changes is of course the usurping of the Stronnictwo Liberalne led coalition from its place of dominance by a nationalist coalition led by the relatively young Wolnosc i Demokracj party.

In the two months leading up to last week’s elections, polls across the nation showed what most people had been used to seeing over the past twenty years. A nation that threw heavy support behind its liberal parties. But as elections grew closer, Ms. Rosenkrantz and her WD led coalition gained steam first by convincing the Zieloni and then, to the surprise of many, the Partia Kobiet to partner with the WD and PNW nationalist coalition. A week out from elections, pre-election polls showed the Liberal and Nationalist coaltions nearly equal in terms of public support. Both coalitions then campaigned heavily and widely and when the ballots were
counted last Saturday, the nationalist coalition shocked the nation by winning 278 of 510 Sejm seats while the liberal coalition only managed to win 159.

Following the announcement of the election results many have wondered what tipped the scales so heavily in favor of the nationalist coalition in the week leading up to the election. The answer, according Ms. Rosenkrantz and other members of the nationalist coalition, is simple. The liberals, while doing much to move the nation forward, had lost out because they did little to change their campaign strategy and messages. They failed to fully appreciate the needs and desires of a nation that had seen the region descend into one conflict after another, the ascendance of dangerous states and entities, and the gentle treatment of continued violators of human rights around the region.

What this means for the nation as the first Jewish woman and first person of Kämpfenlander descent takes the seat of Prime Minister will be discovered within the next few months as Ms. Rosenkrantz settles into her new position. Many pundits feel that with the nationalist coalition in power, the government will push for increases in military spending and measures to further isolate Kämpfenland and other totalitarian states they view threats to national and regional stability. And while Ms. Rosenkrantz often spoke passionately concerning these issues, it will all depend upon how much resistance or cooperation the liberal coalition gives and if the WD and PNW can keep the ZL and PK in the fold.

With a new government in power, the people of Wielkilas are looking ahead to a political future that should prove to be something new and different.

Following a close race between Adenauer and Koenig, the SDP has emerged once again as the leader of the nation with Chancellor Adenauer at its head. Following his stepping down from Chancellor, Koenig will once again take up position in the Council, providing valuable advise to his close friend and successor. Many view the election of Adenauer as yet another step ahead for the nation as a whole, placing whole faith in the new Chancellor. Some remain wary, however, noting recent, subtle increases to the defence budget and more aggressive approaches to foreign policy towards the end of Koenig's term and being concerned to the fact that Adenauer's staff may take things further.

FINEBERG, New Edom— President Perrin Pahath-Moab today announced his intention to continue to block motions led by the Shrailleeni delegate to the CPO to remove Arbites from the Cornellian Peacekeeping Organization.

"I cannot overlook the fact that the Revenant, which was the chief target in the Imperium's attack, had deliberately struck at peacekeepers--New Edomite peacekeepers--simply to make a point. I cannot ignore the fact that the terrorist attack in Novitera was linked strongly to the Revenant. I cannot avoid facing the facts: the Revenant may very well be a source of piracy and violent criminal activity throughout the region. The question must come up, as it did with Jericho and Sodom: are there any innocents in Revenant territory?'

"For these reasons, I will stand by my decision to insist that the expulsion of Arbites from the CPO would be unwise and possibly unrighteous. While I welcome the discussion, I will maintain my position unless I am convinced otherwise.

"As for the Revenant--I strongly urge their leadership to heed the words of CPO diplomats: we must have a peaceful way of dealing with refugees and civil aid workers. The first blood was not shed by us, but if they will not have peace with us, the last blood will be shed by us. The choice is theirs."
