Annabelle Barca)
FINEBERG, New Edom
Earlier today an attempted coup d'etat against the elected government by aristocratic officers supporting the Monarchist Party, led by Admiral Charles Rand, General Adam Zelek, General Joshua Adams, General Marcus Kiron and other senior officers following a bombing at the President's hunting lodge had resulted in lockdown of the capital and attempts to arrest senior Free Congress members of government. The whereabouts of certain cabinet ministers is still unknown. In spite of this, the 14th and 32nd Armoured Cavalry Regiments, with air support from Brightwater Air Force Base and Sterry Naval Air station have won a great victory over the rebels and have begun to drive them from the city.
"The important thing," said Brigadier-General Pahath-Moab of the 14th, "Is to preserve the lives of our citizens and prevent them from being caught in the crossfire, and to restore order and lawful government. While at the moment, serious fighting has been taking place around Fineberg's outskirts and the Military District, the "Boy General" has stated that he feels optimistic about the complete relief of the city within 12 hours time. Admiral Rand and his advisers have been unable or unwilling to comment
The Monarchist claim is backed up by a proclamation issued by King David III, but Judge Gabrielle Balaam has stated that the proclamation is unconstitutional. While this has been backed up by the spokesman for the Apostolic Church, Bishop Zecharias and acting Chief Justice, he has also condemned the violence and implored both sides to seek mediation.
