No, what I implied was that there were equally as many crappy RP's on jolt as there may be here. I know, I participated in a fair few of them.

Basically this. Jolt has essentially turned into an excuse for some players to be assholes to other players... but they would be assholes anyway. Only difference is they have an excuse.

Well, it's hard to define what exactly a "good" RP means. But I do understand where you are coming from on this. Unfortunately, RL commitments might prevent me from engaging in any more RPs though.

Yes, there were several bad ones. Between 2006 and 2007, when I finally got around to posting on the forums, I read a lot of threads. Some were egregious beyond measure while others were tolerable. No matter which way you cut it, Jolt was—and still is—run by opportunistic plagiarists who steal game ideas and recycle them. Max did the right thing by jettisoning NS2 when they corrupted it and trying to salvage what was left.

What seems to bother me is that whenever the moderators attempt to tighten up standards of conduct and issue bans to serious violators, the friends of the violators add “unjustly deleted” memorials to their signatures to protest reasonable policies because of personal prejudices. You cannot have enforceable standards of conduct on a board without angering the community if its members are willing to practice the social equivalent of jury nullification. Once the community (or even a clique or group of peers) adopt the idea that a player's popularity, roleplaying talent, writing ability, or reputation can place him or her above the law, they consider the deletions unjust.

Second, I have noticed that noobery has been declining a bit lately. I think that another wave of noobs is due to come in soon, though some of the new players also appear to have promise.
