The Lone Rider (Frozopia's Medeival RP, CLOSED)

Postby The Rohirrim 1 » Mon Sep 21, 2009 2:13 pm

A single horse moved forwards slowly in the first lights of dawn. The horse was a proud Stallion, but it was now bloodied and it was tired. Slouched over the horses neck was the figure of a man. Such was the loyalty of the horse that it did not attempt to remove it's rider. A shattered shield was at the horses side, a notched sword was dangerously close to falling out of it's sheath. But clasped in the mans right hand, im-movable, even in sleep was a spear. The Spear also doubled as a banner. Just visable in the odd flutter of wind was a flag. A gust of wind blew the flag outwards. On the green background shone a White Horse, magnificant even in it's dirty state. This man was a Rider of Rohan, a Rohirrim, But the wind died and the banner failed.

The Rider was woken with a start as the Horse managed to get enough energy to rear onto it's back legs as something startled it. The Rider, in his bloody, fatigued state reacted instictivly. He grasped tight hold of the reigns and controlled the horse. He secured his sword and righted the Banner, which once again flew in the morning breeze. He saw ahead of him what had startled his horse. A head was a group of armed men, clearly a patrol of somesort. The Rider knew he was in no condition for combat, so he merely sat on his horse and waited.

As he waited he thought back to how he got to this postion. He was one of the hundred. A hundred Riders had been sent out the previous year, to explore the entire lands surronding Rohan, to meet new peoples and secure new bonds of fellowship. THe prevous night, as the rider had sat with his horse by a fire ready for their nights rest, people had emerged from the shadows. They had clearly thought that one Horsemen wouldn't be a threat to them. They had clearly not realized they were dealing with a Horse-Lord of Rohan. The Rider had been able to fight the men off and was able to mount his horse and escape. But not without substantial injuries. The rider knew he had to find help, and find it soon, otherwise he and his beloved horse might not make it back to the Plains of Rohan.

The Fiduse band looked upon the bloody horse and its rider, they were ill at eay it was an ill omen to find one such as that when their mission was of such importance. Many of them wished to begone of the stranger and let nature take its course but they would follow their captains lead. She was just as unsure as her men, nursing one as grievously injured would surely slow them down but they came for peace not war. The lost time would be more than made up if they were able to save but low the strange figure fell.
"Lo, Hac go treat them as best you can, if they can be moved bring them here. I shall brew a tea to aid in healing. Cha, Beck begin to search for the necessary plants, Ka, Bea set up a perimeter whatever attacked the stranger may still be out there. The rest of you start gathering wood and other supplies we must build a fire of hottest light."
As her men carried out her orders, their captain began to clear the necessary area, the fire would be hot and any strange debris or stray twig could start a grass fire that would be nigh impossible to stop from spreading...

The Rider was uneasy around the strangers. But he knew that he was in no condition to do anything about it. He was frankly in their hands, if they couldn't or wouldn't help him then no one would. As they walked over towards him, the rider slid off his horse. But the minute he hit the ground he collapsed in a heap. The Horse, as weak as it was, still lowered it's head and gently nudged the Rider, it neighed weakly as it tried to revive it's fallen Rider. The horse then looked up at the approaching strangers with suspicion.

Lo dismounted and rushed over to the collapsed stranger, carefully rolling him onto his back. Lo began to clean out his wounds as best he could. Hac rode over, dismounted and began to do the same with the horse, checking for wounds, cleaning them then trying to badge them up with torn parts of the horses blanket. Once that was done, they quickly discussed what to do with the horse, while it was not as wounded as its rider, trying to get it moving under its own power would likely torture the poor thing. Unable to think of anyother way, they grabbed another blanket and two nearby roughly equal length and thick tree branches and created a rough stretcher. They argued for abit if they should try and drag the stranger behind a horse or strap him between both of their horses. Neither was ideal but eventually they agreed lash the stranger between them and try and ride together, they would move at a slow pace so hopefully the horse would not tire out...

Cha and Beck had been back several times already with several handfulls of plants, most were to dry or otherwise damaged to work but eventually enough were gathered and their captain began to crush them into a fine powder, ordering them to find a source of water as she didn't wish to compromise their own anymore than she had to. A fire was also quickly set up and began to burn as the sky continued to darken...

The Rider slipped in and out of conciousness as the strangers treated his wounds. He woke more fully a few hours later, the sky was getting dark, and his nose could smell a fire nearby. His eyes stung as he opened them and looked around. His throat was dry, in desperate need of water. Despite knowing full well that he shouldn't he pulled himself up onto a elbow and looked around.

"Er ist oben."
"Erhalten Sie ihm etwas Wasser und holen Sie den Tee vorbei."
The Fiduese captain outlined several more orders in her native tongue before moving towards the stranger. She switched to the trade language when addressing the stranger. "No no you must rest, drink this, it is very bitter but it will aid your healing. You gave us quite the scare, strange one. We have stemmed the exterior bleeding and set your broken bones but you will be unable to stand let alone fight on your own for many weeks to come. Drink all of the tea, it tastes horrible but it will help. I need to check your wrappings, you will feel abit of pain but I need you to not flinch." Not waiting the captain began to check each wrap, removing then rebandaging some while leaving others alone.

"Now what is one such as yourself doing out here on their own? This is a dangerous area..."

"My Name if Tamling, I am a Rider Of the Riddermark" The Rider siad weakly as he drank the disgusting tea "years ago, my lord sent me and a hundred like me to explore the lands surronding Rohan, last night I was attacked, a managed to defeat my attackers, but not before i was badly injured"
Tamling looked around.
"Where is my Horse?" He asked.

"Ah Tamling Rider Of the Riddermark, your horse suffered much less severe injuries and is currently getting a drink by the waterhole that we found a few hours ago. It didn't seem to want to leave your side at all, Beck had to use all of his horsemanship wisdom to get it to leave your side. They should be along shortly. Now can you describe your attackers?"

"They seemed to be Oppourtunistic, they clearly didn't beleive that a single horse and rider could fight of their attack, clearly they've never met a Rohirrim before" Tamling said, with a hint of pride slipping into his voice "There were about ten of them, one of them stepped on a branch and alerted me to their presence, allowing me to defend myself, they employed strange tactics, or lack of, they didn't attack me all at once, which would have proven my downfall, i killed at least three outright, and my Horse kicked on of them in the face"
Tamling smiled slightly.
"As far as i could tell they were probably amatuers, hoping for a quick kill, though theres probably more of them out there" Tamling replied "And if they were enough of them, and they got their acts together they could pose a threat, they were armed with swords mainly, maybe a bow or two, but they weren't the best shots in the world, "

"Lu, Beck der doppelte Schutz und der Aufenthalt innerhalb des Feuers beleuchten."
"Cha, holen die Suppe."
"That is good, here have this soup I am sure you are hungry.
Now did you see any distinct colors or banners? Did these swords look new or well used? Were they wearing leather jerkins or something more resistant? Was their skin or hair color unusual in anyway?"

"All their weapons were old and worn, but still capable of causing damage" Tamling commented "They weren't well armoured and weren't that distinctive, I'm sorry I can't be more helpful"

ooc If no one else wants to step in as the attackers, would you be so kind to rp as them The Rohirrim 1?
IC
"Hmm, that is alright, I'll get your horse and you get some rest."
Making sure that Tamling was comfortable, the Fiduse captain walked down towards the waterhole nodding at Beck whom was guarding the hole and the horse. Speaking softly towards the animal, she began to escort it back towards its rider.
"Beck, erfassen den Rest, den wir unseren nächsten Schritt planen müssen..."

Tamling smiled as his horse walked back over to him with the strangers. The horse lowered it's head an nuzzled him slightly, glad to see him again. He reached up with his uninjured hand and stroked the neck of the beast that decided to lie next to him.

ooc Unless we get someone to rp the bad guys there is not a whole lot to do...
IC
With the outer patrols set up and the rest of the band knowing their own assigned duties, Tamling better off than she had hoped and with his horse, the fire still going strong and plenty of fire wood and other materials. The Fiduse captain began to relax. She unsheathed her sword, looking it over for any scratches or dents, any blemishes finding none she took out a wet stone and began to sharpen it...

OOC: Pretty much yea, they're raiders basically, and not too intelligent to not recognise a Rider of Rohan.

OOC: Okay, after they had attacked and slaughtered a group of enemy clansmen, they saw the Rohirrim, fought him and drove him off.

The barbarians were a clan of raider-nomads who had been left behind during the Great Exoduses. They sent out a group of men to collect horses, of which they had little after the newborn and mothers had died of an illness. Their clan was the Blackfoot Clan.

The leader of the group was known as Grom Hellmaw, a vicious berserker, his physical prowess matched only by his indomitable bravery . He turned to his warriors, who were sitting in camp, with a herd of new horses, and many weapons and shiny things. He raised his drinking horn and roared in victory. The others bellowed in unison. the group was about eighty men, all of large size.

"We have feasted on our enemies!" He said, brushing his arm in the direction of a few charred skeletons dumped in a ditch. "The enemy clan thought they could outsmart us by dressing one of theirs up in horseman armour. They wanted us to start a war against the horsemen, but we did not fall for it. We drove off their scout."

He downed his cup before giving it to a chained captive to refill. The captive enemy clansman brought a horn-full of mead back to Grom, who again downed it before drawing his sword, sticking it into the man and kicking his dying body into a giant fire pit. He laughed as the clansman screamed in pain, his flesh burning. He turned to the other captives.

"Thank you for those horses of yours," he motioned to the herd they had stolen. "We do not need you now."

The Blackfoots threw their axes at the captives and beat the remainders to death, howling at the excitement of the brutal kill.
