The billowing black smoke flew up high into the air over the golden stalks of wheat that seemed to stretch for miles into the green sea. The air was hot, and the lack of shade coupled with the unrelenting sun didn't help at all. Six men, each on horseback, stood on the very edge of the field, two of them armed with PPS-43 submachine guns and the other four armed with SKS rifles. The dark brown horses stood out like a sore thumb amidst the green and gold, but they were essentially the most effective way to travel when automobiles were largely unavailable to anybody below the Bourgeois.

The peasant family that had gathered around them looked despairingly at the burning field, their income for the year basically being destroyed before their eyes. Such was the tactics of the Galician Liberation Front, however. Burn enough wheat fields and the peasants will have no choice but to start anti-government riots for Galician independence. This is not to say that these things went without punishment however, often the retribution of the Imperial Military being far worse. These punishments were a constant reminder to the Galicians on why their independence must be achieved.

One of the Galicians, presumably the leader, cleared his throat and spoke to the peasants, "I'm deeply sorry it had to come to this, Mr and Mrs. Sharapov, but you must see our motives for this" the Galician said, not taking his eyes off of the field.

"You think that your GLF speaks for all of Galicia, Bonderenko, but how will my family make it by for the next year? And perhaps even the year after that?" the peasant replied, a hint of anger in his voice.

"You will be fully reimbursed for the amount of damage, Mr. Sharapov , along with more payments as compensation for the years that follow, I can promise you that" Bonderenko said back with a compassionate tone. He turned his horse around and started to trot away. "If you would excuse us, Mr. Sharapov, may God help your family in these turbulent times" Then flicking the reins, the horse started to gallop in the opposite direction as they arrived, followed by the five other Galicians that accompanied Bonderenko.

Galician raids continue to ravage Freiberg
Image
Machinegun crew near Orenberg

Galician attacks continue to ravage the region of Galicia in the fallout of the Germanification campaign launched by Adjoint von Freud. The Galicians, whom only make up 6.2%, are calling for a free Galicia due to several differences between Etniiziyan, Leopoldian, and Venitian culture and that of themselves.

The center-stage for the Galician Liberation Front is the capital of Freiberg province, Orenberg, which is currently under Galician control and serves as the capital of "Free Galicia". All though most of the raids are localized, concerning with mainly the burning of wheat fields, there is speculation that any sort of main organized attack will happen but only the time frame is unknown.

Currently, the Empire has succeeded in quelling several other ethnic riots, the most notable happening with the Slavs in the Kolionijan capital of Asada. While the Oberkommando des Heeres have not released any in depth information about the governmental plan to quell this uprising, Generaloberst Joachim Doacher has released the deployment of the 7th Royal Cavalry Army and the 2nd Royal Dragoon Army to the region.

Crowds giving farewell to troops in Aleksiberg

"This horrid plague of nationalism has clearly blinded the Galicians viewpoint on things" Adjoint von Freud commented whilst fox hunting. "We must make an example of the Galicians to show to other peasants that you do not stand up to the empire"

Activists on both sides are calling for a more peaceful solution to the conflict, but both are thus far, being ignored. However, more and more Galicians are joining the GLF cause amongst the rumors of the Empire bringing in foreign troops to help with the rebellion.

Needless to say that L'Etat will continue to keep you updated on our website as this story continues to develop.

Aleksiberg, Etniizia

The typical apathetic attitude of the Imperial Government could be seen and felt even by the youngest child. And who could blame them? Filthy, scummy peasants having their fields burnt down by a bunch of nationalists, who in their right mind would care about something like that? Not the Imperial Government of course.

The tea room of the Imperial Palace at Aleksiberg was one of the larger rooms of the palace, able to hold up to 350 aristocrats, holy people, and ministers. Today, however, it was only filled with Aleit, Adjoint von Freud, Minister of Affairs Dietrich Kreuger, and a few other "close" friends of the Empress.

"You must admire the persistence of them, despite how futile and silly it may be" a minister said, taking a sip of black tea from his cup.

"Nonsense, there is nothing to admire about a bunch of nationalists resorting to petty terrorism to achieve their ways, probably got the ideas from all that Elwe tomfoolery happening in New Edom" von Freud said bluntly. "A swift and brutal response will end this conflict by next week"

"All we need is to send in the Royal Guard, and this will be over and done with by Thursday" Generalfeldmarshal Doecher said, closing the "Imperial Citizens Handbook to Xanadou" and placing it on the table. "Those unprofessional rebels won't know what hit them"

"That's the attitude, Joachim" von Freud said, giving a friendly, approving smile towards Joachim.

"The Royal Guard is remaining where it is, we have other, just as qualified units that could just as easily rid us of those terrorists" Aleit finally said, taking a sip of tea. "The Royal Guard remains in their current locations and will only be moved if it is absolutely necessary, General. Adjoint, we will be calling a General-Estates meeting to discuss this with the fellow pact members"

"If that is your will, your excellency, then consider it done" von Freud said in an elegant manner. "Gentlemen, as always, it was a pleasure talking with you" Getting, up, he politely bowed, then walked out of the room.

Official Letter of the Corinthia Pact

Addressed to: All Member nations of the Corinthia Pact
From: Aleit von Hohenzollern-Metternich; Empress of the Premislyd and Autocrat of her peoples
Subject: Calling of the General-Estates[encryption:100%]

Dear Messieur and/or Mademoiselle:

As you may know of, the region of Galicia wishes to secede from our noble and honorable Empire. On normal circumstances, we would listen to them but they have resorted to petty terrorism, mostly aimed at poor peasants, to try and get our attention.

We are initiating a counter-insurgency operation in the Galician region, with our aim to quell this uprising. Given the current instability amongst the other ethnic groups, we are unable to spare any troops to properly deal with this threat.

Therefore, we are calling a meeting of the General-Estates here in Aleksiberg to discuss the best course of action to ensure the survival of the Preimslydan state, and by default, the Corinthian Pact. This meeting will take place on January 19th, which I think gives everybody an adequate amount of time to prepare themselves for the meeting.

I look forward to meeting you

Ossurwalder Embassy to Premislyd

Lewis Mangkalian read L'Etat quietly while sipping his tea. He had skipped by the front page to check the sports section. "My God," he said, "quite a massacre, isn't it?"

His new assistant, Reinhard Lensk, nodded. Lensk had been dispatched to Premislyd when news of Mangkalian's affair with the Premislydan Empress had reached them via the Premislydan intelligence service. Mangkalian maintained a veneer of ignorance as to Lensk's appointment, but it was hard to ignore. After all, Lensk had pretty much taken over running Ossurwald's mission to Premislyd. As such, he was considered Ossurwald's point on counteracting the Premislydan threat.

"I'll message Kannlem," he told Mangkalian.

"I hardly think it's worth that," said Mangkalian.

Lensk raised his eyebrows. "You hardly think that it's worth telling Kannlem that an ethnic group of Premislyd is threatening to achieve independence and collapse the entire Premislydan house of cards?" said Lensk.

"What?" Mangkalian flipped through the papers until he came up with the front page. "I meant the scores! Yes, notify Kannlem at once. And contact the Palace, see if it can be arranged for me to tour the war-torn area... obviously, under Premislydan watch."

Lensk nodded.

To: Her Imperial Majesty's Government
From: Ossurwalder Embassy

We were interested in seeing if Ambassador Mangkalian could look over Freiberg province, and assess the damage for himself to relay to Kannlem. Ossurwald would not want such an event to turn into a humanitarian crisis.

-Sincerely,
Reinhard Lensk

Alodia Jalabrian looked out of her office windows down on the city of Artchen. She could see the State House from her office, the Artchen Arboretum, the Postal Distribution center, Northern Station, the Jalby's Bank Building. She drank her coffee, spiked with whisky, and clicked on her bluetooth headset.

"William, who's handling the AT-Program Contract? Werklos? Take it away from him and give it to Zaniek. Tell him that we need him on the NWA Project. Yeah, find something that will assuage him, give him a new car or something." She clicked it off. Then her phone rang again and she clicked it on.

"Ma'am," said William, "Research just sent up their latest clippings. I've forwarded the choice ones to you."

"Thank you," she said. William didn't hang up, which meant it was important. She woke up her laptop and checked her email. She read the linked news article from L'Etat. "I see," she said. "Well, William, sounds like a new market. See if you can find a way to get our cards into the hands of both sides, let them contact us. We'll hire out to whoever can pay us." She smiled as William hung up. When you were supplying mercenaries, you were never overstocked.

Aleksiberg, Etniizia

"Humanitarian crisis..." von Freud said, crumbling up the piece of paper and discarding it in the waste basket. "Mademoiselle Weiss, what is a humanitarian crisis? For I cannot fathom to imagine why somebody would use those two words in the same sentence other then some illegitimate excuse to go to war"

"Oui Adjoint, it would seem that the Ossurwalders are trying to stick their noses in places where they don't belong" his secretary, Viktoria Weiss responded, as she was filing some papers on her cluttered desk.

The rays of the sun filtered through the window, illuminating the crimson red tapestries hung on the far end of the room. The room was rather large for a secretaries office, albeit it was for three secretaries.

"It has been a while since I was out in the country" Konrad continued. He walked out from the ebony and oak desk and over towards the windows, stopping abruptly and turning to face her. "Mademoiselle, if you'd be as so kind as to type up a response to them, I have some other errands to do" He said, giving a polite nod of the head and walked out of the room.

I believe that you have misunderstood my intentions of the letter Messieur Leinhard. We are an honorable and noble people whom would, to be frank, would be quite insulted if one didn't trust our fine military to offer protection. The disclaimer was, more or less, a statement that should something go wrong, we shall not be held responsible as it was at your request to visit the Freiberg province.

I look forward to meeting you. It will be nice to have a chat with an Ossurwalder that isn't politically-focused. Please feel free to contact myself or any of the Imperial staff in you have any questions that may arise prior to our departure.

The soft, white and cold. Out of the sky the millions of small snowflakes glided down. Painting the ground with a small carpet of white. "It's such a beautiful sight." Katsam Djuna pondered. "And yet such a dead sight too. In Tehraan few have yet to experience this process of birth, bloom, death and rebirth as it happens here."

There were no seasons in Tehraan, throughout the year it was always hot and wet. Yet here in this garden, deep in the Southern countryside of the Autonomous State of Tehraani, winter brought with it the cold lifeless visage and temperatures dropped below zero. The private villa of the Administrator, Katsam Djuna was located there. The garden covered more square miles than the villa itself. In spring and summer this place would be filled with the blossoms of a hundred different kinds of flowers. Djuna didn't knew himself how many species of plants were in this place. But during the winter the garden was dead. Only the leafless trees with the snow covered branches proliferated through the garden.

Away from the burden of his position. Administrator Katsam Djuna retreated to this place now and then to get his head straight. Out of the bursting metropolis of Amedaiye, away from the artificial landscape of glass and concrete. The unviolated nature of this place gave him some respite. In a way it reminded him of his former home. The fast and lush tropical jungle of central Tehraan. But this wasn't that home. Tjirgrizstan was fast, steppes stretching out for miles, only broken by the hills and mountains to the east and west.

"Administrator Katsam! Administrator Katsam!" One Tjirgrizian servant came running out of the villa through the garden door. He bowed respectfully and handed him a letter. "Communique from the Central government. It was urgent they said." He added after he gave Djuna the message.

It was several pages long. Detailing a number of gatherings by the central government. Correspondence from his representative in Tehraan. Concerning a recent uprising in Premislyd. And the likelihood that forces of the TNAF would be send to Premislyd. He was to return immediately to Amedaiye. For a meeting with military and delegates from the central government. There was something of great importance to discuss.

Most honourable Empress Aleit von Hohenzollern-Metternich,

In accordance with the charter of the Corinthia Pact, the Hegemonic Union shall send it's delegates from the Autonomous state of Tehraani to the general-estate in Aleksiberg.

We view this attempt at independence by the Galicianians as a grave threat to the strength and stability of the Corinthia Pact. For the nation to prosper the people must be in one line. When one or more of its people seek selfish gain over the collective, it weakens the nation and its ability to exist.

It is thusly we see it as necessary to provide our help against the treacherous insurrection. Our delegates, Ambassador Burikhan Valikhanov and the Hegemonic Union's head of foreign affairs Minister Mitalref Lraga, shall attend this meeting coming 19th of January.

May you prosper

Legionican Embassy, Aleksiberg, Etniizia

Ambassador Wilhelm von Hurst sat in his office, quietly looking over a few proposals for some joint economy growth, but was disinterested with his work. He was more interested in what he had read about the Galician Uprising.

Legionica had witnessed several uprsings in the North, but they were short-lived and were put down with lightning quick efficiency. If there was anything that Wilhelm knew about these kinds of things, it was that they had to be resisted fully and hammered down with an iron-fist. That, and not to ignore them, as so many did (such as Centradonia, which had defected to the Legionican nation years before).

Taking out a small slip of stationary, he began to write to the officials up in the First Empire's ruling class. The Legionican embassy was quiet...

Official Letter from Ambassador von Hurst of Legionica
Aleksiberg, Etniizia

Dear Minister of Affairs Dietrich Kreuger,

I know you have obviously taken no such serious matter of the current uprsings within your proud nation, and hopefully, I may impart some of my wisdom upon your peers and you. I wish no offence in this at all, but I am quite a bit older than you, and have experienced many terrible events in my long life.

The uprisings are not to be ignored. They are serious and fatal to a nation's unity and nationalism, especially one such as the First Empire, no matter how ridiculous it may seem at the current time. A clown once threatened to blow up a string of villages in Northern Legionica, once. The Emperor didn't believe him. I think you may guess what happens next...

Brutal force is not overreacting. The people need to know their place, especially those who question the legitimacy of their mother nation. I know for a fact that Premislyd and the First Empire is a wonderful nation, perhaps even the greatest I've ever visited. It is an honor to be the Ambassador to her, and I wish to see her flourish as Legionica has alongside her.

Sincerely,
Ambassador Wilhelm von Hurst

At a dark polished oak desk, the general inspector of the armed forces prince Heinrich von Hohenzollern, brother of the current king and proud bearer of one of the largest beards in the kingdom sat, enjoing a cup of coffee while going through recent reports. While he still coordinated with his brother who was out of the country in Alemarr, Heinrich ran most of the day to day affairs of the kingdom.

Though not an offical signatory of the Corinthia pact, Nordkreussens interests often coincided with those of Premislyd and relations where good and had been good since Aleit von Metternich-Hohenzollern, cousin of Heinrich and Friedrich Wilhelm had married the Emperor of Premislyd. Nordkrusen may often disagree with the heavyhanded approach of the imperial government, but outright splintering of the realm was unacceptable and would have to be prevented at all costs.

Taking out his fountain pen and some paper, Heinrich started the process of writing up a letter of assistance to the imperial government and formost her Majesty the Empress...cousin Aleit

Dear cousin, it saddens me to see that your realm is in disorder. Not wishing to disrupt the balance further, brother and i have agreed that as of yet no major involvement is desierable, though it definately warrants reaction. As such we have decided that with your permission, a battalion of infantry with an attached militarypolice brigade should be sent to keep order in some part of this most bothersome province to relieve you of some preasure that this sad series of events have bestowed upon you.

Please let me know if this is acceptable, or if there is anything else you require.

OoC: This is an MT thread Barrasso, dunno why you're using 1945 stuff.

Holschtein, Freiberg Province

"Déplacez rapidement!" shouted a dragoon towards the crowd of people. The dragoon was just a simple Schütze, one of the millions of them that served in the Imperial Military. His divisional emblem on both sides of his silver steel pickelhaube, a black, "S" shaped dragon on a white shield, showed that he was from the 72nd Dragoon Division, part of the newly arrived 2nd Royal Dragoon Army to the Galicia region.

The town of Holschtein was in a unique situation, one of the few towns in Galicia with a Galician minority. It was a rather large town, roughly 15,000 people living within and around it, with Galicians only making up 1,500 residents. As part of the approved plan set up Adjoint von Freud (whom believed that there was a Kulturkampf existing in the kingdom), all the Galician minorities in cities, towns, even entire provinces, were to be removed from the area and placed in camps where they were to stay until the outcome of the entire uprising.

Holschtein was no different. For the past couple days, the Galician population has slowly been diminishing as they are sent off to camps within Corinthia and Venitia, with their former houses, businesses, and possessions being sold to people of Latin-descent. The crowd that laid in front of the Schutze was just the latest crop of people being sent off. Similar actions were taking place within Imperial-controlled sectors of Galicia.

Dear Cousin:

It is quite the contrary, my dear Heinrich, the Empire is still strong and the rebels are suppose to be far smaller in numbers then previously thought. That doesn't mean that our approach to this will be any different though, and in fact, it will probably far more efficient then expected. Your troops will be much appreciated as we are spread thin already. I'm unsure how exactly we can repay you, but I'm sure we can discuss as soon as this uprising has passed us by.

Send my regards to Aunt and Uncle for me.

As a member of the Corinthia Pact, it is advised that you attend the General-Estates meeting that is taking place in the Imperial Palace at Aleksiberg. You are more then welcome to come yourself, but it is best to bring a Legionnican governmental member.

I look forward to seeing yourself, Messieur von Hurst.

Dear Messieur,

There is no need to call for help from Barrasso just yet, we have more than enough forces to take care of a bunch of poor peasants that are stricken with the plague of nationalism. You can, however, send a message to your government concerning the calling of the General-Estate for the Corinthia Pact, which you are a member of. It will take place on January 19th at the Imperial Palace at Aleksiberg.

I hope your delegate is able to attend and I look forward to speaking with him.

Dear Adjoint von Freud,

We believe it would be prudent to visit Freiberg as soon as possible. Such situations, as you know, have a way of changing rapidly and we would like to view the area before such changes make it impossible to reach. Afterwards, Ambassador Mangkalian has expressed to me that he would like to express his findings personally to Her Imperial Majesty, and it is something I feel I am not able to deny him.

Lensk banged out the recent email. Then he went down the hall to Ossurwald's Associate Political Officer to Premislyd, Alice Xavieka. "Alice, you'll be accompanying the Ambassador to Freiberg. I want to make it very clear that unless something very important comes up, you're not to leave the Ambassador's side. Is that understood?"

Alice looked at Lensk. "Yes, Reinhard, I understand." Lensk nodded and went back to his office.

From: Aleit von Hohenzollern-Metternich; Empress of Premislyd and Autocrat of her peoples

From: Dietrich Krueger; Minister of Foreign Affairs for Her Excellency

Dear Herr von Hurst,

I believe you might be misinformed by your government on how exactly we are handling the situation laid out before us. Messieur, we have seen and done many atrocities in this country, and even before then this continent has been ravaged with the blood spilled between the hundreds of ethnicities within the Imperial border.

Addressed to: Leonardo Bellamp, Barrassoan Ambassador to Her Excellency's Empire
From: Konrad von Freud; Head of Government of the Imperial Empire

Dear Messieur,

There is no need to call for help from Barrasso just yet, we have more than enough forces to take care of a bunch of poor peasants that are stricken with the plague of nationalism. You can, however, send a message to your government concerning the calling of the General-Estate for the Corinthia Pact, which you are a member of. It will take place on January 19th at the Imperial Palace at Aleksiberg.

I hope your delegate is able to attend and I look forward to speaking with him.

Chamber of the Loya Jirga, Qahar, Qahar Province Altakstan

Shir Kadaz was standing up rigidly straight in full military uniform with his hands behind his back. In the well-lit room, he was surrounded by elderly men wearing robes and traditional clothing of the various tribes, mostly Altak and Ilitz, with a few Shengdou, Paraka, and Pythians. The multitude of elders had been discussing Shir's proposal on the situation in Premislyd. One of the eldest among them, Chief Ashagh stood up slowly. his aging body prevented him from moving with too much liveliness, though there was still evidence of his past as a fighter and a man who refused to go down and age easily. "Warlod Kadaz, you have requested that we make a public statement on the situation and deploy troops in aid of the Galicians to serve as peace keepers?". The young soldier nodded, "That is correct, sir". The old man cleared his throat, "We have sought council from Minister Shilhaz and deliberated amongst ourselves. Your proposal has been accepted by the Loya Jirga. Now go, do your duty to the Confederacy". Shir nodded, turned quickly on his heels, and walked out. Though those last words were almost tradition more than anything else, he held them to his heart. Should he ever forget them, may Allah shine the gift of mercy upon his soul and the Confederacy itself.

Al Kasra Military Base, Al Kasra, Qahar Province, Altakstan
Schuetze Inen Shaz walked into a large, open dorm room full of plain bunk beds, and followed the directions on his orders to an area where people were sitting. The men and women who sat there were the section he was newly assigned to. He set his bags down next to a bed, and tried to listen to the conversation they were having, but it stopped and was turned to the new person. "So, you're our new AT gunner, eh?". The man who spoke was Gefreiter Bazir Akayad. Though he was young, he had an older, more hardened look about him, which was solidified by his totally white left eye. Another soldier stood up, a woman with black hair tied back into a pony tail. She shook his hand, "Hauptfeldwebel Farishta Adad. I'm you're section leader. Lucky you, we just got on leave and should be for a-". She was cut off by a booming voice.
"Listen up, Soldat'ha. Many of you have fought Vjernaists, but I think you might like this opportunity more. Over in the Imperium, or whatever the hell they call themselves these days, another nation, like us, is trying to rise up and separate themselves. Well, the Empire doesn't like giving lesser races freedom, now do they?", Major Marzak smiled as he said this. It grew even bigger when the shouting of obscenities towards them showed it had the desired effect. Some spoke, but others remained silent, remembering memories of the oppression, and the feelings of vengeance. "Soldat'ha, it is our duty, and our orders to help these people in any way we can. We are deploying two of the infantry battalions, who are to be complimented by a tank squadron". He listed off the units, "Now, get down to the port by 1600 hours. Dismissed!". The room came to life, a chance to fight Premyslid. All of those not selected openly hoped for an escalation in conflict that would require them. Farishta looked at the green recruit, "I take that back. Be ready for some action".

Emperor's Bedchamber and Office, The Imperial Palace, New Shunde, The Empire of Ani
The Emperor was standing at the window of his room, looking out toward the direction of the prospering city of New Shunde. However, today was foggy, and he could see nothing but his own gigantic palace in his sight. Disappointed, he let out a sigh, and returned to his seat. He pulled a rope beside him, and the curtain closed. While he was starting up his computer, a knock on the door distracted him.

"Tin, your letter is here." A gentle and young feminine voice said.

"Come in." Mak replied.

A feminine figure hurried into the room, and dropped down a bunch of document. Mak looked back at her, thinking he've caught a glimpse of her sister, though her entrance was too brief to let him take a clear look. He decided to put the matter aside, and took a piece of paper with the title that interested him the most. He held it up to his chest height, looking down at it as if it is a piece of newspaper.

Report on the recent state of affair regarding the Galician Uprising in Premislyd

Dear Emperor
While foreign matter is normally not worthy of our attention, the recent tension and uprising in Premislyd 's province of Galicia has come to our attention. We have procured an estimation of Premislyd army force based on various source and an estimation of the Galiacian Potential strength (For the detailed report, please see PID-R-11560, a copy of it is attached to this document). The conclusion, as said in PID-R-11560, is that the Galician uprising will be crushed utterly by the Premislyd force, and the influence on the Uranium mine operation there shall be minimal providing that no foreign power include themselves in this.

However, it is considered highly probable that a foreign power, or foreign powers will involve themselves in this matter to act against the Premislyd Government 's interest in name of "Peacekeeping". As a result, should the Galicia province declare independence, or maintain de facto independence from the Premislyd Government, then other provinces will follow suit. This will greatly endanger our uranium supply. As our strategic storage of Uranium will not last us longer than two months (See PID-R 11561, updated today.), so if the supply from Premislyd (Which account for 97% of our Uranium supply, see PID-R 11562, updated yesterday.) is cut off, we will have a hard time finding sufficient new suppliers (See "Other potential supplier" section in PID-R 11562) within the region to last our power plant. It is therefore of utmost importance that the Galician uprising do not succeed.

The current stage of the event does not give us a valid casus belli to intervene in the matter on behalf of the Premislyd government, and an intervention on their behalf would not conform to the public consensus regarding our diplomatic stance. Fortuantely, no foreign powers has expressed their interest in intervening on the behalf of the Galicians, so it remove the need for intervening on the behalf of Premislyd government. The suggested solution now, is to give a "Go ahead" to the Premislyd government, so that it may feel at free to suppress the uprising. Usage of subtle material support should be done if a foreign power choose to intervene with minor force. However, should a foreign power come in to intervene with major force, then we should starts large scale material support at once, as the stability of our electricity supply is of paramount importance.

Yours Faithfully,

Mak placed the main document down on the table, and took out the documents attached to it, reading it throughfully so he can get a basic glimpse of what his head advisor is talking about. Having satisfied his own curiousty, he placed the attachment on the side of the table, and proceeded to write a telegram to the Premislyd government.

Official Communique from The Empire of The Ani Nation

Dear Empress Aleit von Hohenzollern-Metternich of Premislyd, the Autocrat of her peoples:

It sadden us to see that the Galician brigands has taken to using nationalism as the shield for what that is nothing but obvious act of brigand, using despicable measure such as looting, burning farms, and raiding properties of other ethnicities to force the poor peasants in Galicia into uprising against your government, so that their illegal actions will be hidden behind the smoke of burning houses and screams of innocent peasants. I regret to say that while the public consensus of my nation do not permit me to intervene against this horrible atrocity committed by the Galician bandits, you may feel at free to suppresses those illegal actions, as my nation will not intervene on the behalf of those outlaws. However, should other foreign powers decide to intervene on behalf of those outlaws, then rest assured that you will have the support of our government and our peoples, as the public will not tolerate foreign warmongers threatening our ally 's sovereignity.
Yours sincerely,

Koenigraetz, Freiberg

The stone governmental building stood out against the Belorussian and Ukrainian styled housing that made up Koenigraetz. The build was rather simple on the outside, save for the 18 flags of the "states" that make up the Confederation fluttering in the wind. It seemed like a scene straight of of the history books, with peasants with horse drawn carts walking down the cobblestone roads while the noticeable, wealthy aristocracy and bourgeois drove in cars. It was a crucial city, being one of the few remaining small cities/large towns that remained under Imperial control in the province, and the military presence in the city helped show the importance.

Outside the city hall, a small convoy made up of two Belettes, one Kampfpanzer Panther 2A3, 16 Royal Guards from the 1st Royal Dragoon Regiment, and a single silver blue Ford Flex were parked precariously outside the building. The Imperial Royal Guards stood at attention, each armed with the brand new StG-59 assault rifle (the 1st Royal Dragoons were the test bed for the rifle). In the middle of them stood Konrad von Freud, alongside two aides.

The convoy stood waiting for the Ossurwalder diplomats, whom had been forwarded the place, time, and date to begin their tour of the province.

Dear Monsieur:

It pleases me to know that an ally sees this situation in the same way that we do. Do not fret about it however, as this will be over and done with by the time you could mobilize forces. Your supply of uranium will continue on as planned, though be weary that protection of trucks in Galicia is at risk due to the uprising. Still though, rest assure that we will put forth 100% effort into making sure they are unscathed.

Tribal Confederacy of Altakstan
Official Confederate Communique

From: The Confederate Ministry of Foreign Affairs
To: The World Community, and Premislyd and her territories in particular.

It has come to our attention that grave events have been occurring in the Premislydian region of Galicia. A people have begun to seek independence. While, this is often a cause for joy, a promise of a new future, our own people's history tells us otherwise. The government of Premislyd looks down upon lesser races and has, in many cases, met such cries for freedom with indiscriminate violence. Thank Allah, that this has not come to pass. Regardless of current events, we must look towards the coming days and seek to prevent violence against an under-armed people, comprised mostly of a civilian populace.
We publicly condemn the government of Premislyd for leaving out the option of negotiating peace and autonomy, and we urge the international community to be ready to come to the aid of the Galicians, and support them until that aid is needed. We can no longer allow the Premislydian government to disenfranchise and refuse to recognize entire peoples.

Signed,

Greetings Ataman Domitrovich. Recently, the plight of your people has come to our attention. It is a plight that my own people had at one point. One thing I know, do not trust the Premislydians to handle this as men handle business. They see those not of their own race as subhuman and, thus, that humane treatment and avoiding civilian casualties is unnecessary. We already have troops mobilized to help you: two Infantry Battalions supplemented by an Armor Squadron, an Amphibious Assault Ship, and a General Purpose Frigate. The expeditionary commander, Sargord Mohammed Marzak, will be meeting with commanders of your choosing, yourself if you wish, to coordinate a defensive plan to deter Premislydian troop movement into major regions. I'm sure that once you declare independence, they will mobilize many more units to assert their supposed "right" over the area. At that point, we can bring more units to your defense, as will other nations as I'm sure. At this point, though, we would like to know where we can land our troops to come to your aid. Feel free to contact me at any point during your fight when needed.

Regards and Best Wishes,

Aboard the CS Sataara, Directly outside of Premislydian waters
Bazir Akayad leaned on the rails of the ship, staring at the coast line. He was in full garb, with the exception of his hat, which was pocketed, and his balaclava, pulled down on his neck. Someone walked up beside him and he could tell be his gait that he was green, the new Schuetze. "So, are we really going to do this?".
Bazir laughed, "Hell, yeah. At least these cowards will show themselves for part of the time. Not unlike the Vjernaists".
"Speaking of which, the others said you were undead. Is that true?". Bazir turned and looked at the new recruit. He'd obviously never met one, as one could tell by the look of curiosity on his face". He looked back over at the coast. Bazir's tone was more subdued. "Yep. We got ambushed by Vjernaists as we were abseiling down so big, exposed cliff face. They hit our line, and people began to fall. I cut the line above me before they fell and dragged me with them. From there, I don't know how I made it. By the grace of Allah, maybe, if he's still around".
"Is that what happened to your eye?".
Bazir's light tone returned as he answered the next question. "No," he laughed, "I received some lacerations to my eye, so I needed a contact to correct some vision that I lost. The white was a cosmetic choice. It doesn't look to pretty with all the cuts". Inen laughed with him, I would guess so".

In one of the embassy cars, Ambassador Mangkalian, Alice Xavieka, and Mangkalian's bodyguard Amund Fargess stepped out. The Ambassador buttoned his suit jacket. Alice was dressed in jeans and button-down shirt which was a bit lacey, while Fargess was dressed in a relatively bulky bulletproof vest and his own pistol was in a shoulder holster over a t-shirt and jeans bottomed-out by serious boots.

Mangkalian came over to the Royal Guards. "A pleasure to meet y'all, Lewis Mangkalian. So, who'll be our guide today?"

Dear Cousin,

I am glad that it isnt as bad as we thought, but still it creates a feeling of unease over here. Payment of any sort will be politely declined, isnt it our duty as a family to stay help eachother in times of need? While we are still on the subject, may i be so bold as to suggest that our battalion operate independently on an Imperial mandate of the Nordkrussian embassy?
This would enable your forces to operate with more flexibility, while allowing our forces to consentrate their effort on a single area. Please tell me what you think of this cousin...

Amedaiye
Autonomous State of Tehraani

Night had fallen. Below, a sea of a thousand lights stemming from the city could be seen across the entire horizon. Tired and stuck in a stream of thoughts, Administrator Katsam watched the skyline whilst he sat in the Ka-62 helicopter flying above the city. It had taken him several days to go from his mountain retreat to the nerve centre of the Autonomous State. He didn't know why they had called him here, or what it was that gave him this unsettling feeling, as if something wasn't right. That something would happen that could change the course of this nation. Yet he knew somehow, that when he would arrive at the Administrative building some of these questions would be answered.

The guards sat there next and in front of him, seemingly uninterested as they looked off to nowhere particular. It was a strange sight, they acted as if he wasn't there at all. "Landing in ten minutes." The dulled voiced pilot said. On top of the administrative building was a helipad, added primarily for emergency evacuation via helicopter. But often used for traveling. The pilot slowly took the helicopter down the towards the roof.

The section lit by the light of several big spotlights, between the bright glow several figures could been seen standing near the helipad. Waiting for him to step out, for whatever reason there was. The helicopter touched down softly. The guards once again didn't say anything. Both just got up, one opened the door and the other gestured with his PP-19 SMG to Katsam to leave the helicopter.

Something was off, their behaviour was so disrespectful compared to all the guards he had ever had on board these trips it just didn't make sense. What was even more strange where the patches they wore, a pitch black patch carrying a white sun wheel with a skull in the middle, the sign of the TNF, Entekana Fascist paramilitary from Tehraan. Not the kind off paramilitary that operated in the Autonomous State.

Agitated and confused, Katsam stood up and made his way to the helicopter's door. When his feet touched the concrete ground on the top floor he stood face to face with a Tehraanian man, wearing a black uniform, his face unrecognizable by the contrast created by the strong lights in the background.

"Administrator Katsam Djuna." He spoke in a heavy booming voice that conveyed a dominating personality. "You are here by temporarily relieved from your duties as Administrator to the Autonomous State of Tehraani."

"What is the meaning off..." Katsam tried to say but the man, ignoring his words cut him off before he could finish his sentence. "By orders of the supreme counsel, you will be taken to Tehraan. Where you shall stand before a hearing committee by the Central Government. In review of your actions this past half decade."

The man turned around and started walking away from the helipad to the door leading inside. He stopped for a moment. "This must be overwhelming for you, but all shall be explained on your trip to Tehraan. The jet is waiting for you at the airport." The man said while he turned his head halfway towards Katsam. "We shall go to the airport via car. Please follow me."

A guard gave him a slight push with the SMG gun barrel in his back, telling him to move. Katsam was defeated, he didn't knew what he should expect. No doubt there was something the central government wasn't pleased about. He had never kid himself into thinking he was in their good graces. Still he'd never suspected this to happen so sudden. Obviously there was more behind it.

"Keep walking Administrator!" The guard said in an angry voice. Reluctantly Katsam followed the uniformed man moving towards the exit. Leading down to the stairs. Where the transport to the airport waited for them.

Yadega,
Military airport
Autonomous State of Tehraani

It was cold. Winter in the heart of Tehraani, the highlands were always cold there. Ila, or private as it was called in English was his rank, Idjane Naota was his name. Fresh from training and send directly into his first combat mission. They had received their marching orders hardly 12 hours ago. The aircraft was already prepped to go. 16th Air mobile battalion. 3rd Company, Platoon B, 2nd section, send to the First Empire of Premislyd to help the Hegemonic Union's ally fight an uprising.

They all walked over the snow covered track towards the An-124s that stood ready to airlift them and all the equipment to the province of Kolionija from where the operation would commence. Naota pulled the warm jacket tighter around him. It was freezing cold, not that he wasn't used to it after all this time. But still the wind was quite hard and they moved slowly towards the aircraft, with which he along with a thousand of his comrades in arms would be brought to the battlefield.

"Keep walking! The longer you stay out here the colder it remains!" Barked one Gare, or sergeant. The leader of his section, Gara-Tekan Ana his name was. Big for a Tehraanian, member of the fascist party and the kind of man you didn't want to end up on his bad side. Still he was a man that you'd respect. He had a sense of duty and in some, strange way a certain kind of love for his subordinates.

Naota's section finally managed to get into the plane. Of course it didn't take that long, but it damn felt long from just standing there in the freezing cold. Several officers where friendly enough to hand out a hot and spicy chicken soup in plastic cups when they entered. It was a low quality soup but at this point a bowel of hot liquid was as welcome, regardless of how eatable it was.

"Buckle your seats, were going!"

Naota closed his eyes. It was a long flight from Tehraani to Premislyd. Inside the uncomfortable aircraft it was better to sleep.

Aleksiberg
First Royal Absolute Empire
Hegemonic Union Embassy

Ambassador Burikhan Valikhanov left the embassy through the front door, the meeting of the general-estate of the Corinthia Pact was due to start soon. A dark black limousine stopped infront of the old looking building used as the HU Embassy to Premislyd in Aleksiberg. Burikhan did a last minute check to see if his suit was in order, before a bodyguard came out of the car and opened the door of the limo, letting Burikhan in.

The inside was dark, the windows had been blacked and there was one dimmed light in the middle of the car that provided some light. It was a weak light source, giving the interior a dark demeanour. There were five men inside the car minus himself. "Minister Mitalref, it is an honour." He said bowing to one of the man. Minister Lraga Mitalref was the head of the foreign affairs ministry in the central government and a member of the supreme counsel. The oligarchy that possessed the most power within the Hegemonic Union.

"Ambassador Valikhanov, glad you could make it this fast." Minister Mitalref replied. "Certainly you have heard the news on the latest developments. Altakstan has openly declared its support for the rebels, certainly others in Xanadou will follow. This could threaten the stability of the region and the security of the Hegemonic Union."

Mitalref was much smaller than the Tjirgrizian Ambassador, like most Tehraanians. Mitalref was a lightly tanned man, most Tehraanians were more darker skinned as far as Burikhan had seen them. "I had little time to watch the news, but I'm certainly concerned about the escalation this could entaile. It still puzzles me that the Confederacy would act so open, instead of operating covertly."

Mitalref tapped the window that separated them and the driver in front. "We're ready, you can continue to the conference." He turned back to Burikhan. "Indeed, it is puzzling, either they're really overconfident, ignorant or stupid. I never regarded the Altak people as anything other than backwards anyway."

"Or if possible." Mitalref added. "They have something planned. However before we can do something about that we would have to see what our esteemed ally thinks of this. We certainly don't wish to take matters into our own hand every time now do we?"

Mitalref grinned slightly, but Burikhan had little to laugh about. For once he was genuinely worried about the situation. He had an ominous feeling something more was at stake than some breakaway group. Like something bigger would come out of this that could very well reshape the region in a way the Xanadou war could never do. But the limousine drove onwards, like the passage of time. Slowly but inevitable towards their destiny.

Addressed to: Whomever it may concern in the Atalkstan Protectorate Government and the Xanadou Community
From: Aleit von Hohenzollern-Metternich, Empress of the Empire

Dear Messieur and/or Mademoiselle:

Earlier this week the "Tribal Confederacy" of Altakstan gave a very biased, poorly thought out, and badly informed communique stating their support for a group of terrorists that are trying to secede from our Federation.

The Altaki people make the claims that we discriminate against "colored" peoples. This is true and we will not deny it, but what if we said that the Galician people were Caucasian, just as I, the Ossurwalders, and many other nations within Xanadou. What right would we have to discriminate against a people of the same skin tone as ourselves? If we went by the logic that the Altaki people, we would be enslaving our brothers and fathers.

Now with that being clarified, I will bring up the next point that is both shocking and appalling. The Altak government has declared open support for separatists whom rape, maraud, plunder, and burn the fields of poor, innocent peasants regardless of their age, ethnicity, creed, etc. How in Zeus' name can you let a nation that supports terrorists and terrorism go about our wonderful region unpunished and unhindered? First it will be their support for the Galicians, but how long will it be before they support other terrorist groups operating within your own borders?

I for one, am ceasing trade and recalling all diplomatic personnel from this poor excuse of a nation. Regardless of alliances and relations, I recommend that all fellow nations that occupy our glorious region do the same until the Altak government sees the error in their ways and ceases to support a group of terrorists.

Respectfully and Honorably,

Koenigraetz, Freiberg Province

The guards snapped to attention and gave a quick salute to the ambassadors and his bodyguard. Two feldwebels couldn't help but smirk at the sight of the man wearing a bullet-proof vest, though they dared not say anything to him.

The sun started to peak through the light grey overcast, while the cool air could be felt all around. The temperature was average for this time of year, hovering around 62oF.

Von Freud, whom was wearing a white Imperial officer's uniform, stepped forward, right hand extended. "Please Ambassador, the pleasure is all mine" He said in a genuinely friendly voice. "Whether you may or may not know already, I am Adjoint Konrad von Freud and I shall be accompanying you as we tour this poor, war ravaged province"

A pleasure to meet you Adjoint von Freud," said Mangkalian, shaking the man's hand. "I look forward to this tour. This is Alice Xavieka, who works at our embassy," he said, introducing Alice. He didn't introduce Fargess, who stared silently at various things around them. No doubt Fargess saw the feldwebels' smirks, but he didn't react. "I also look forward to relaying my findings and views to the Empress after we're done here."

Imperial Square, Aleksiberg
First Royal Absolute Empire

It was a cool day with the rain falling down in buckets, and the steady 14 knot winds coming from the south. It was unusual to have a day below 45 degrees this time of year, but today was one of the few exceptions when the mercury did dip below 50.

Outside of the brightly lit palace, the six flags fluttered in the wind as if they would be ripped off from their metal poles at any second. The entire square was rather large, enough to hold roughly 2 million people at any given time. The dark, water-soaked brick flooring shone brightly from the lights on the palace.

Imperial Police could be seen patrolling the perimeter of the square, their white uniforms matching their newly issued silver-grey Polizei Karabiner Mod 1s. Generally they were tense and serious, but the time and weather made them seem more like they didn't want to be there.

Banners of all the Corinthia Pact nations were being hung down the facade of the Bundestag building directly opposite from the palace. The banners were illuminated by two spotlights placed directly below them, with the Imperial banner being in the middle, two Tehraani banners outside of that, two Legionnican banners besides them, and two Barrassoan banners were last, due to them being the latest to join.

The Bundestag building would be wear the General-Estates meeting would take place, as to be frank, it was considered a bad thing to allow foreigners into the Imperial Palace. On the steps leading into the building stood two soldiers from the Kaiserlichen Garde, each showing stern, emotionless faces while holding ivory-decorated KVG-09 rifles. Past the corinthian-style columns and outside the doors stood a number of servants and assistants, each one being assigned to a different nation.

Koenigraetz, Freiberg Province

"C'est un plaisir, Mademoiselle" von Freud said, giving the woman a polite bow. He walked forward a little down the stone steps of the building, his boots clicking slightly as he walked. "Yes Ambassador, this tour should be quite the excitement as it has been ages since I toured this part of the country... not that much has changed since I last came here" He continued, "I suppose we should get a move on then if you plan on reporting your findings to Mademoiselle Metternich"

Correspondence

Addressed to: Heinrich von Hohenzollern
From: Aleit von Hohenzollern-Metternich

Dear cousin:

Yes, I suppose it is the duty of family to assist each other, but it makes me feel uneasy that our, well I guess your countrymen now, fighting over here on behalf of myself. Surely you cannot expect all of them to return unscathed? I insist on repayment, even if you may disagree with it.

As for your suggestion, I agree with it one-hundred percent. I'd suggest that your battalion moves into the city of Koenigraetz near the coast of Kolionija. It's one of the more heated regions of the province, but it's also one where we still have a strong enough presence in it.

It will depend on my health condition for Christmas, so I can't make any obligations at this moment

Orenburg, Freiberg Province
"Free Galicia"

The golden rolling hills seemed to stretch out for as far as the eye could see, with only the small town being the only human settlement for miles. Perhaps this is why Orenburg got it's significance, as the towns became central hubs for traders in their district.

It was warm, roughly 65 degrees, and not a cloud could be seen in the light, pale blue sky. Four Galician soldiers rode their horses down the main road, the silver of their PPS-43s glistening brightly in the direct rays of the sun.

Ever since the rumor of foreign troops being brought into the country began to spread, the GLF has taken it down to a more quiet, covert operations conduct. This was not saying that things did not happen, quite the contrary, rail lines were still being blown up, supply lines raided, fields being burnt, etc.

For now, Orenburg acted as capital of "Free Galicia", at least until Koenigraetz was captured. The old city hall served as the meeting place for the Galician council. Inside the small building, Ataman Yevgeni Domitrovich, stood behind a table with a map of Galicia and red figures near Imperial-controlled areas with three other men near him. They had been discussing an upcoming offensive centered for a push to Koenigraetz when a young messenger came into the room, holding the letter from Altakstan.

"Ataman, letter from the Altaki government" the young man said, handing over the letter to the Ataman.

He took it and neatly ripped the seal, unrolling the letter and read it, his old brown eyes slowly moving down the page. "Well it seems that our plans have been changed. This, Altakstan country, is willing to aid us in our cause" He finally said after a few moments of silence.

"Altakstan... wasn't that one of our colonies?" one of the advisers said, moving a red figure in the direction of the coastline. "They're a bunch of colored folk? Do they believe that we are that desperate to accept help?"

"We can use them. Let their forces do all the work while we claim the glory" Yevgeni said, taking a small sip of water afterwards. "Send them a reply, they will take the coastline for us"

"Da, Ataman, it will be done at the first opportunity" another adviser said, taking off his ushanka and bowing.

Your help is invaluable, but I think your reasons for supporting us is misguided and misinformed. We are Caucasian, just as they are, and the reason for our independence movement is that we grow tired of listening to a foreign power, whose leader is from a far away country, whom speak a language unlike our own, whom culture is different then ours. That is the reason for our independence, not this "sub-human, racist treatment" that you might have dealt with because of your darker skin color.

Unfortunately, we control no coastline, your forces are welcome to try and fight your way in land to the city of Takinskiya, roughly 30km in land from the coastline.
