3rd Valkan War

Alexander Brunswick, leader of the Nationalist Party of Valkstadt (NPV) seized power when he along with the Imperial Valkan Army forced Chancellor C.Churchill to resign. The opposition to the Nationalists is made up of around 50,000 radical anti fascists. The opposition is called the Valkan Liberation Movement (VLM). The VLM has launched a guerilla war on the NPV and sparked a civil war. The NPV has grown popular previous to the take over when Brunswick organized military marches, parades and rallies. Brunswick has received the title of Kânz which means leader in Valkish. Brunswick has promised to defeat the radicals and restore peace to Valkstadt. He has also promised to cut taxes and spending to help the middle and lower classes. He believes that a totalitarian system of government allows the economy to flourish an promotes unity among countrymen. It also boosts the military by establishing a youth program training the Valkan youth in combat and brainwashing the youth to be loyal to the Kânz. The Kânz Youth Program will force all kids at the age of 10 to join for 8 years to become warriors and will eventually make the youth enthusiastic nationalists.

The Civil War is going well for Nationalist Valkstadt. We have the the VLM fighting a lost war. We have set up a youth program called Kanz Youth that will transform the young into enthusiastic Nationalists when they become 18. They economy will rebuild and the people will support the changes that were made. We hope there isn't any foreign intervention to try to help the non fascists. We are trying to crush the last of the VLM soon to prevent this from happening. We thank you for your support of our party.

The previous government destroyed the economy,and took it out on the people by taking their money. The Imperial Senate became corrupt. They no longer worked for the good of the people. To avoid corruption I will get rid of the Imperial Senate and replace it with the Valkan Super Committee which would have 10 seats and would prevent corruption from taking hold. In our civil war we have pushed the opposition into the city of Wottenheim. We have evacuated the city an have laid siege to the militants.

"'They no longer worked for the good of the people.'" He paused again. "Did they abide by the Right to Own Stuff, when stuff means Property, Life, or Privacy? And maintain the rule of law? That's their only duty, really," he added, and read on.
"'To avoid corruption I will get rid of the Imperial Senate and replace it with the Valkan Super Committee which would have 10 seats and would prevent corruption from taking hold.' Hah!" he said suddenly. "A likely story! Why would this prevent corruption?" he wondered. "And so," he said, 'In your civil war you have pushed the opposition into the city of Wottenheim. You have evacuated the city and have laid siege to the militants'. Well, well, well. You haven't given us much reason to support your seizure of power. Therefore we shall launch a Judicial invasion... oops, sorry, I mean a Judicial investigation. We had better dispatch an aircraft carrier, half a dozen diplomats, and a lot of intelligence agents while we wait to see if you can come up with a better story that that. That is the decision of the court," he added, "and now you can try to persuade us that this former government behaved badly."

We would first like to show our appreciation for the adoption of rightist policies in Valkstadt, but after we will show concern for the fact that your nation changes governments as often as I change my underwear. For the record, Mrs. Paustain demands I change them daily. Perhaps that puts how turbulent your nation is in perspective. We will protect our interests as well as our 1,200 men in Valkstadt on Fort Samson-Edgar which we gained from the first Valkish War. The men are not being allowed to leave the compound as they were previously allowed. The base is on battle station and we are not putting this guard down until reforms in Valkstadt cease. At the end of the Valkan War the Cookish States left pro fascist propaganda and while the current government ruled over Valkstadt the people wanted the unity, and were tired of the current government wrecking the economy and hiking up the taxes to fix it. Increasing the taxes did not only fail but it deprived the people of their money and caused many hard working families to go broke. By toppling this corrupt government the NPV hopes to give the people their money and give the unemployed jobs in the military serving the country.

At precisely 9:35 A.M. the President walked into the conference room, and the meeting of the President and his eight Attendants- who were actually his vice-presidents- commenced.
"Ladies and gentlemen," he said as he took his seat at the head of the table, "A fascist government has forcibly taken power in the nation of... let's see... ah, here it is, the name of the nation is Valkstadt. We're here to discuss what to do."
The Seventh Attendant spoke up. "We all know the options. Option one, declare war on the fascist government and help whatever rebels there may be. Option two, help the new government. Option three, sit back and do nothing. I'm in favor of option three." Several other Attendants murmured their assent.
"I'm in favor of option one," said the President, and the atmosphere around the table changed slightly. When it came to disagreements about fascism, there were sometimes... events that had happened to those who disagreed with the President. "Fascism can not be tolerated. There was another part of the message.... The President pushed a button, and a line from the message was read aloud through a system of speakers.

It also boosts the military by establishing a youth program training the Valkan youth in combat and brainwashing the youth to be loyal to the Kânz. "Simple," the Fifth said, "The government is still new. There are certainly a large number of people who still don't trust the government, or like it at all. There'll be refugees, too, fleeing the fascists to nearby countries. We could recruit them, give them training- real training, not the sham training that Valkstadt would give the elders- and have them fight with us."
"Is there anyone who will second the motion of keeping troops out of Valkstadt?" the President asked.
"I do," said the Third Attendant.
"Very well," said the President, "All in favor of staying out of the conflict?" Three Attendants raised their hands. "And all in favor of declaring war and aiding the rebels?" he asked. Five raised their hands, including the President.
"Very well," he said, "The motion is carried, and we hereby declare war on Valkstadt. Meeting adjourned."
The President stood up and walked out of the conference room, not looking back to see if the Attendants were following.

The USSW can not tolerate fascism in any form, or the forced conscription of children into the armed forces. The Politburo of the USSW hereby declares war on the new government of Valkstadt, and declares it to be illegal. We pledge aid to the rebels fighting against the corrupt "government", and offer training to any civilian or refugee who has fled the new government. Kânz A.Brunswick delivers a speech at a Nationalist rally in the capital.

"It has come to my attention, that the USSW has declared war on the Nationalist Party of Valkstadt. I would like to clarify that by declaring war on the NVP you have declared war on Valkstadt.
Brunswick pauses while the crowd cheers.
The NVP was fairly elected into power when the people voted 40 nationalists into a 50 seat Senate. We are not killing off the opposition party. We are simply fighting the violent fringe of the opposition. In response to the Ultimatum given by the USSW, We will not surrender! If you invade our homeland you will be met with bullets millions of fierce Valkans willing to die for what they believe in.
Brunswick pauses again as the crowd cheers and gives the Nationalist strait arm salute.
The last time we fought a corrupt socialist government we drove them out of our land and toppled their communist regime.
We Valkans know what it is like to be oppressed by a communist government and we will fight until the streets run red with blood before we have another communist ruler.
Brunswick pauses once more.
So to all you communist pigs in the USSW we will fight with an intensity you have never seen. We will fight for every inch of Valkstadt so that we may be free. Mark my words… We will slaughter every single communist soldier that sets foot on our land.
The crowd cheers and salutes as Kânz Brunswick salutes and leaves the stage.
After the speech every able bodied man 18 to 55 began training for the war to come.

The forced conscription of children as young as ten into a military force cannot be condoned. We refuse to stand by and allow this atrocity to occur. We sincerely hope that the rest of the international community will agree. USSW troops have orders to take Valkstadt civilians who are fighting against us alive if possible, although anyone over the age of 21, below the age of fifty, and in a uniform will be considered an enemy. We do not wish to subjugate Valkstadt, merely prevent a corrupt government from taking power. For any such government, with a single person who may make any decision he wishes for no reason with no constraints has obvious flaws, and many. Please stand by us as we fight to liberate Valkstadt.

Us the court are somewhat amused by the USSW's statement that they 'do not wish to subjugate Valkstadt'.

Thank you for reminding us that we accidentally omitted to rule on that problem: the Imperial Commonwealth Courts has not found conscription of children as young as ten into any military force an illegal act on the grounds that they are no less intelligent than adults. Equally conscription may be justifiable in circumstances such as defence against complete 'liberation' by communist governments.

OOC: I'm not using 10 years olds to fight I'm using 19 to 55 while the 10-18 year olds train for the military.
Nationalist Valkstadt will allow Libraria and Ausitoria to conduct investigations and in the meantime we have Wottenheim surrounded so that nothing gets in or out. We will guard the entrances to the city and will not fire unless fired upon. We will mobilize the bulk of the military in defense of the impending invasion.

Our investigation is ongoing, and any evidence you can present would be appreciated.

Somewhere near the Whittington Army Base in Valkan, the Admiral is speaking to the Emperor on a channel, which is not totally blocked off from outside ears, is sufficiently difficult to intercept as to be non-attributable:
"Sir, where are we meant to be looking for evidence of corruption? It's a bit thin on the ground. Everything so far is hearsay... by which I mean we heard people say it. OOC: the only solid proof is the trend. If you look at the trend the economy dips twice. Once during the Valkan War and recently it hit it's all time low which is why the nationalists took power.

The Imperial Commonwealth announces that the investigation has so far discovered recent economic upheaval, but that former records of corruption are somewhat clouded. It is noticeable that there is considerable present corruption however, and we invite Alexander Brunswick's government to comment on that situation while we continue our investigation. We would like to remind all parties that such economic events may merely be the enforcing of sensible regulations on over-excitable private operations, and as such are hardly valid grounds for revolution.

The piece of evidence I will present to the international community is since Nationalist rule the economy has shot back up 20 pts, the tax rate has dropped from 45 to 41 and we have been recatagorized from corrupt dictatorship to father knows best state.
