The Calm before the Storm [ Introduction | Finished ]

Postby Milograd » Mon Aug 29, 2011 2:51 am

OoC: This thread is pretty much an introduction to Milograd's interference/meddling with Judean regional politics and such, and also serves as an introduction to the complex relationship between the Anagonian and Milogradian governments.

Judengrad Map, should things go as planned ICly.

The gusts were as strong as ever, as the Milogradian warships cut through Judean waters the Milogradian ensigns atop their superstructures danced in the wind. With the Solmian-Tergnitzian conflict brewing in northern Judea, tensions were at an all-time high, and with such tension came an unusual sense of urgency from foreign powers, or at least Milograd. The Judean Region laid west of Varathron and Gholgoth, and for many years the Milogradian Government had wished to claim land in Judea, mainly because possesing such claims would be a quite beneficial for both the Milogradian economy and military. Ostronopolis, Tergnitz, The Mian Empire, Rethan, Aldarminia and Ustio all stood proudly under the Conglomerate banner, and as another member-state of The Conglomerate, Judean politics were often relevant in Conglomerate affairs. Ultimately, a Milogradian attempt at conquest seemed like a ever-looming threat to the nations of Southeast Judea, yet such an invasion never took place...until now.

The Imperial Navy's ( of Milograd ) plan called for the capturing of over fourteen different islands along the East-Judean coast followed by the establishment of a small Milogradian territory on the Judean mainland, north of Miller F.O.B and Shazbotdom, and west of the Trescottian Archipelago. In order to venture this far into Judean waters without any trouble and or questions being asked the Milogradian Government was forced to make some "arrangements". Months earlier, a meeting had been held between the High Empereur William II of Trescott and the Dh'arco Rahavuhra Jukill of Milograd, and by the end of said meeting it had been determined that The Monocratic Quintessence of Trescott ( a declared neutral state in the Solmian-Tergnitzian conflict ) would not interfere with any Milogradian attempts at claiming Judean lands within the vicinity of Trescott, insofar as Milogradian warships did not enter Trescottian waters, and insofar as the Milogradian government paid the Trescottian government a certain amount of money ( to be determined at a later time ). The lands to the west of Trescott were inhabited by archaic tribes that traced their heritage back to Trescott. It was also determined that these lands would be the easiest for Milograd to colonize, although nothing was truly easy nowadays, nor was "anything" ever simple.

The Milogradian Union "Juden Fleet" continued to move forward under the blanket of darkness, and at this point the sun was beginning to rise over Judea. There had been some buzz in the media about the Milogradian presence for several days now, but the reasoning for such presence had not been confirmed anywhere, however much speculation was present. The Imperial Navy felt that at this time it was best to keep the reasoning for Milgradian presence withheld from the public, but sooner or later they would be forced to give in. However, it was about time that Milograd broke its silence on the matter. At 4:34am a transmission was sent out from the Juden Fleet's capital ship:

+++ MILOGRAD HAS ENTERED THE TULGIAN SEAS.
OBJECTIVES ARE CLASSIFIED AT THIS TIME.
INTERVENTION WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. +++
Things seemed to be falling into place just as planned, without having to worry about Trescottian intervention of the Milogradian assault; Milograd could focus its attention solely on the resistance she would meet upon arriving at the "target zone". Minus The Federative Noocracy ( of Solm ), all the other nations in the Southern Tulgia region were allied with Milograd, and most of Milograd's Judean enemies were thousands of kilometers away on the other side of the Judean continent.

Soon Milograd would finally possess the Judean territory it had desired for so many years; and finally a permanent Milogradian Military presence would grace Judea, as long as things went as planned...

OOC:

It is common knowledge that the Confederate Navy sends fleets to and fro the region for International Water patrols. However, if you disagree with my post and this is intended to be a private RP (Tres didn't say it was) I will remove the post. So far Tres didn't say it was, so meh. Also take note that my presence in this thread will be brief. I have vacation coming up in a weeks time, so my involvement will be limited to a few posts here and there.

Task Force Anagonia returning from International Merchant Patrol

It was early morning when the CSS Anagonia and her fleet of ships had returned into Judean Regional Waters. Behind them was a two-month long patrol of allied and neutral shipping routes across the world. It was standard practice for the Confederacy to engage themselves willingly in ensuring the safety of these vital trade routes, often placing themselves in danger as they retaliated against pirate and unknown threats. Thankfully during this tour Task Force Anagonia had not a single hostile contact during their mission, boding well that piracy was on a decline. As standard practice, several E-2 Hawkeye's were in the air monitoring their progress. It would be another day's journey before they would make it back into Confederate Waters and the crews would then enjoy a healthy shore leave.

In his quarters on board the Strike Carrier Anagonia, Admiral Daniel Tanner was busy enjoying the thrill of every commanding officers favorite pastime. A stack of paperwork lay before him, most of it digital thanks to the new integration of electronic systems. He turned up the audio on the song currently playing on his laptop, returning to reviewing the documents provided via the ships systems. The light provided from his desk lamp was enough to illuminate his figure. The rest of his small, compact quarters was dark save for the emergency light on the wall beside the door. His fingers quickly played over the laptop keyboard as he wrote a response to something he read on the screen, things going silent once more save his music.

A few minutes past of this, eventually the track changing to a more personal song. Little else besides the Admiral leaning back in his chair broke Daniel's concentration on the screen. Most of the fleets operations were currently being monitored by the ships Captain as the Admiral busied himself with his work. They were on their last leg to home port and never once since finding a home inside Judea had any Anagonian Fleet encountered anything out of the ordinary.

That was about to change.

"Admiral is requested on the bridge", declared a voice from the ships PA system.

Daniel blinked, looking up towards the speaker in the ceiling of his quarters. Didn't they know he was doing work in here? Then it hit him. He quickly closed his laptop to let it go into sleep mode, running out of his quarters and rushing to the bridge. A few steps and a corridor later he passed the open bulkhead door onto the flight bridge of the Strike Carrier. It was unusually busy with activity. He saw at the end of a long string of consoles how Captain Renard and his Chief of the Watch were mulling over something on a radar display. No one noticed him enter. His expression turned serious, briskly making way to the Captain's side.

"What's the problem Jim?" Daniel asked informally as he peered over the Captains shoulder at the display.

Jim Renard grunted, "One of our E-2 flyboys spotted a Brimstone allied fleet not too far from our location."

Daniel raised an eyebrow, "That's not much to go by, Captain. Which 'allied fleet' are we talking about?"

"Milograd, Admiral." Jim tapped his finger on the display screen, "And they seem to have brought a lot of play-toys in tow."

Daniel edged past Jim as the Captain moved out of the way. Leaning forward, the Admiral studied the screen. On it were clear IFF signals from the radar indicating an allied presence. Usually they would have these signals with any known ship configuration of an allied force. Usually it would be small. However, as Daniel noted with slowly widening eyes, this allied fleet had a lot of warships in it. It was almost as if...

"Captain get me a straight-line to the Joint Command Center," Daniel commanded as he turned around and headed for the ships red phone.

Chief General Regus Maxim was enjoying some spare time off in his office. His legs were resting on the top of his table as he leaned back in his high class chair. His BDU cap was carelessly resting over his face as he snored away the free time he had, catching up on some much needed rest that had been lost due to previous events. He was having the best dream in the world as he frolliced carelessly on a nude beach full of quite attractive women who were running at hi-

BEEEEEEEEEEEEP-BEEPBEEP-BEEEEEEEEEEP

"JESUS FUCKING CHRIST!" exclaimed Regus in surprise as he was startled awake. His movements caused his chair to fall backwards, sending him rolling onto the floor with a groan.

BEEEEEEEEEEEEP-BEEPBEEP-BEEEEEEEEEEP

He rubbed his head, righting his chair as he stood and looked towards the source of the noise on his desk. The emergency straight-line phone was going off. The noise was made loud due to the importance of the phone. He casually rubbed the bump on the back of his head, growling under his breath as he reached over and picked it up.

"This is Chief General Maxim," he spoke with a heavy dose of irritation in his voice.

"Uh, yes, this is Admiral Tanner of Task Force Anagonia sir. I'm sorry if this is a bad time but we got a situation here."

Regus grunted, "It's perfectly fine Admiral. What's the nature of your situation?"

"One of our E-2 Hawkeye's is live-tracking fleet movement from a Brimstone member-nation, sir. The fleet's too large to be on a diplomatic mission and doesn't seem to be going along a normal patrol pattern."

Regus blinked. A Brimstone member? Here? In Judea? He wasn't made aware of any visits by any allied nations. Why else would they be sending a fleet into Judean Waters? He was missing something here. "Admiral, has the E-2 flagged the fleet?"

"Yes sir. They've recognized the flags as from Milograd."

The Chief General rubbed across his eyes slowly, sighing in frustration as he sat down in his chair. "Admiral Tanner, has it ever occurred to you that perhaps our friends in Milograd are just passing through?"

A sigh could be heard from the other end of the line. "With due respect sir, if I believed for one second they were here for that purpose I wouldn't have called you. This fleet is just too large to be on a normal naval patrol. I don't want to think it, but maybe they're here for something else."

Regus rolled his eyes, groaning. "Alright Admiral, alright. I'll notify the President and reroute a few fleets that way to observe the Milograd fleet. Until then, you have my permission to investigate. However, you will remember that Milograd is an ally. A Brimstone ally. Do not engage unless first attacked, do you understand? If I hear this situation get's the Confederacy on the blind side of Pact members, I'll personally kill you myself. Do I make myself clear?"

"Perfectly sir."

Daniel replaced the phone on the consoles receiver. He had no doubt that if he somehow screwed this situation up Regus would hold true to his word. He nodded to Captain Renard, "Let's send them a greeting then."

Attention Milograd Fleet. This is Admiral Daniel Tanner of the Confederate States Navy, Commanding Officer of Task Force Anagonia. We are currently ending our long range patrol of international waters and have spotted your force. As a fellow Brimstone Pact ally, we request information concerning your presence and motivations. We also offer whatever assistance is required to fulfill all Pact obligations. I await your reply.

Minutes earlier a transmission had come in from Admiral Daniel Tanner of the Anagonian Navy. The Imperial Navy was hesitant to the objectives of the mission at hand to any Judean nation that was not of The Conglomerate, but as a member of the Brimstone Pact it was decided that Anagonia could be trusted, although there was much debate among the Fleet's command team to say the least. The Confederate States of Anagonia had only joined The Brimstone Pact recently, so naturally the trust between Milograd and Anagonia was lacking when compared to the level of trust between Milograd and The Freekish Empire. With such in mind, the Imperial Navy decided to take a cautious approach in addressing the Anagonian request. At 5:34am, another transmission was sent out from the Juden Fleet's capital ship:

+++ MILOGRAD INTENDS TO ESTABLISH A TERRITORY IN JUDEA.
MILOGRAD DOES NOT INTEND TO HARM ANY JUDEAN PEOPLES.
    MILOGRAD COMES WITH PEACEFUL INTENT.
MILOGRAD REQUESTS THAT ITS ANAGONIAN ALLIES KEEP THIS INFORMATION DISCLOSED AT THIS TIME.+++
The transmission was only semi-truthful, insofar as resistance to the Milogradian territory by natives Judeans would most likely be met with force if necessary, and insofar as said territory was to be a military outpost in Judea for Milograd, but then again it could always serve other purposes on the side. Admiral Yuut hoped that the transmission's message would satisfy the Anagonian Navy; he really did not want to have to deal with having the ships under his command being checked by another navy.

Unfortunately for Yuut it was the Anagonian Navy that was in control of this situation, not him, but there was still a slight chance that things could get back on track before it was too late...

Daniel watched as the printer spat out the Milograd response. He was the first to act, despite the quick timing of a nearby seaman, ripping the paper from the printer and reading it. At first, he didn't believe what he had just read. Then as his eyes crossed over the message several times, he lowered the paper and slowly looked towards the radar display. When Jim came to stand beside him, he quietly handed the paper over. Jim read over the message once, lowering it quickly and gazing at the Admiral.

"Orders, sir?" Jim asked.

Daniel shook his head, "This is way over our heads, Captain." He looked at Jim, "Relay the message to the Chief General. Tell the fleet to slow their course and start a slow turn towards our friends. Don't make it too apparent, I'm not even sure what to do at this point."

The Presidential Quarters was quiet and dark. Only the sound of the central heat and cooling unit was heard as it hummed silently in the background. In the large king-sized bed, a large comforter covered two occupants whose breathing creating a slow rise and fall. It would be another two hours before either awoke, the President and First Lady having dealt with a busy week before and just now gaining some much needed rest. The world was supposed to remain quiet and maintain the rest for these two. However events somewhere else close to home dictated otherwise. Beside the bed on a nightstands, a phone rang breaking the quiet night and ending the relaxation with it.

Kromulus Regulus groaned, rolling over from holding his lover in a warm embrace. Her only response to the break of contact was to sigh softly, still sleeping despite the noise of the phone. Gently Kromulus removed some of the comforter off the upper half of his body, reaching past the edge of the bed to pick up the receiver and place it to his ear. His voice was groggy, still half-asleep.

"Yes, what is it." Kromulus asked with a yawn.

"Mr. President, I'm sorry for waking you so early, but we have a situation."

Kromulus rubbed his eyes with his free hand, sitting up in bed as he tried to wake himself up fully. "Go on, Regus."

"Yes sir. At five thirty this morning one of our naval task forces reentered Judean Waters. They came into contact with an allied fleet from the Empire of Milograd. They requested permission to investigate their presence and I gave the go ahead to open communications."

The President blinked, one eyelid moving slower than the other. "Yes, well, that's fine and dandy Regus. Did they offer us some hot dogs and hamburgers for our trouble?"

"I wish that was the case, sir. Unfortunately the response was stated as that the fleet intends to establish a territory somewhere in Judea. According to their location, I can only guess the southern continent. I have the full message here. There wasn't any hostile intent in it and they requested we keep silent about their intend, but I don't like it."

Kromulus grunted, slowly sliding his feet to the floor as he leaned forward and rubbed across his hair with his free hand. "Everyone lately wants a piece of Judea, Regus. Some by force, others by diplomacy." He yawned, "But, regardless, Milograd shoving a fleet in Judean waters is somewhat troubling."

"I agree sir. Should we order our task force to board and investigate the Milograd fleet?"

It took a moment for Kromulus to remember his speech concerning the Anglish Empire affair. He recalled clearly his statement that the Confederacy would investigate foreign military assets should they enter Judea without proper justification. He remained silent in his response for a moment, thinking over the consequences of an either/or scenario. The Empire was a Brimstone Pact ally, so initiating a boarding could be seen as a provocation to breaking Pact guidelines. Though if the fleet was here for any other reason and if history had any truth to it, this situation had a lot more to it left unsaid than it did spoken.

"Mr. President, are you still there?"

Kromulus broke from his thoughts. "Yes Regus, sorry. I was just thinking." He sighed, "I don't think going about boarding an ally would speak well of a diplomatic effort. So let's put that on hold for now. Order the fleet admiral to follow the Milograd fleet for escort purposes. I'll get dressed and send a message to the Empire to get a better understanding of the situation."

'Yes, Mr. President. Oh, and Mr. President?"

Kromulus yawned again, "Yes Regus?"

"Good morning sir."

The President smiled, "Thank you. Good morning to you too. Now excuse me while I get some coffee." He hung of the receiver, standing fully and getting dressed.

Official Message from the President of the Confederate States of Anagonia

TO: The Empire of Milograd
FROM: Kromulus Regulus, President of the Confederate States

Greetings fellow Brimstone Ally,

I apologize for the lack of protocol in being followed by me sending this letter and not coming in person, but I do believe I have a few questions that need to be answered. Thirty minutes ago one of our returning international merchant route fleet patrols reentered Judean waters to find a number of your warships heading for Judean lands. They initiated contact with your fleet and received a reply as follows:

+++ MILOGRAD INTENDS TO ESTABLISH A TERRITORY IN JUDEA.
MILOGRAD DOES NOT INTEND TO HARM ANY JUDEAN PEOPLES.
MILOGRAD COMES WITH PEACEFUL INTENT.
MILOGRAD REQUESTS THAT ITS ANAGONIAN ALLIES KEEP THIS INFORMATION DISCLOSED AT THIS TIME.+++

I'm sure you understand my concern when I state that recent events with the Anglish Empire and the Confederate States implicated a possible attraction of foreign interest in Judea. As a matter of fact, on a daily basis I personally receive a number of reports concerning possible foreign interest in Judea. Most of them from nations and leaders I never knew and almost all involving some type of aggression. I'm not stating that your nation has any intent of aggression in Judea, of course. The response seems to indicate that well enough.

What it doesn't state is the full intent. I would like to know why would like to establish a territory in Judea. Is there currently some conflict with a resident Judean nation going on? If so, as an Brimstone Pact Ally, how can the Confederacy be of assistance? I'm sure you know our stance on aggression in Judea. The Confederacy will intervene in any and all conflicts to ensure a peaceful outcome. In your situation, we would happily be glad to assist. I would personally enjoy hearing a response from you as fast as possible.

Until then I have ordered our Task Force to escort your fleet on its journey and ensure our allied fleets safety while it resides within Judea. It is the least we can do to show our support.

Sincerely,

Kromulus Regulus
President of the Confederate States
Confederate States of Anagonia

The message had just come in from the President himself. Task Force Anagonia would enact its privileges as a Brimstone Pact Ally and escort the allied fleet on whatever mission it had undertaken. That was the official statement that was open for most interception to view. However, deeply coded in the transmission was the true motivation. Daniel briefly reviewed the words and placed them into memory.

Code: Select all
Shadow Milograd Fleet. President is attempting Diplomacy to assertain full situation. Update Joint Command Center of any and all Milograd fleet activity. Maintain neutral stance. Do not engage unless engaged. Intervene via peaceful alternative methods if aggression against Judean allies is detected.

Daniel crunched the paper, tossing it to a nearby Lieutenant who went about properly disposing it. The fleet had been notified of the official intent, however the Captains of each vessel were made known of possible confrontation. They were clearly ordered not to engaged unless engaged first. This was an ally they were dealing with. Daniel would have to get smart in his tactics if he wanted to stop any possible hostility from the Milograd fleet. He nodded to the Captain, informing him to send a reply to the Milograd fleet.

Attention Milograd Fleet. This is Admiral Daniel Tanner of the Confederate States Navy, Commanding Officer of Task Force Anagonia. I have been ordered to provide full escort to your operations while you remain in Judean waters. We are to assist you as allies of the Brimstone Pact. If you need anything, we are at your disposal.

THE EMPIRE OF MILOGRAD
[ The Administrative Arm ]

To: [ Kromulus Regulus, President of the Confederate States ]
From: The Empire of Milograd, The Argyzian Authority
Subject: RE: Recent Events

Greetings,

I was left a bit shocked ( to be quite honest ) after reading your communique, for I personally did not expect to see our Anagonian allies involving themselves in our affairs, however it is nevertheless recognized and appreciated. However as it stands the Imperial Navy does not need or wish to be escorted by foreign ships, and with that said the Empire requests the following from Anagonia:

  1. The Empire of Milograd requests that any and all Anagonian orders to "escort" Milogradian ships be terminated as soon as possible.
  2. The Empire of Milograd requests that any and all Anagonian ships in the area be rerouted as soon as possible.
As previously stated, The Empire of Milograd wishes to claim Judean lands for the same reasons that she has desired such for many years, Judea ( "The Magestic Lands" ) is a blessed land with an abundance of valuable resources, and many of Milograd's closest allies are of Judea, and thus Judea is often relevant in Milogradian politics.

Milograd comes to Judea in peace, with no intent to bring harm or suffering to any living being whatsoever. As an ally and fellow member of The Brimstone Pact, we hope that your government will find our requests ( as stated above ) to be reasonable.

"I'll be damned," Kromulus said as he closed his eyes and held a hand to his forehead.

This was not what he had expected. For the first time in the history of its entry into the Judean region, the Confederacy had been at the right place at the right time to make a difference. Yet, despite this, it was involved with the wrong people. In this case, nations. The Brimstone Pact had been a blessing for Anagonia. Through it, the Confederacy had finally solidified a long-standing Alliance with the Freekish Empire. Before, it was a spoken bond of trust. Now it was written plain as day. However the Empire of Milograd's obvious attempt at land-grabbing was being protected by this very same blessing. Kromulus set the paper down that had been printed with the official Milograd response with his free hand. His eyes followed it to the table, closing as he let go of the paper.

There was absolutely nothing he could do now. It became apparent to the President that in the future, some initiative would have to be undertaken to prevent this type of situation from every happening again. The only way that fleet could have sailed into Judea unopposed was by some of the nations within Judea allowing it to slip by their detections. This meant that there were nations who, despite outward appearances, wanted foreign powers in the region. It did not bode well for the future political stage for the Confederacy. It meant that, quite literally, Judea could become a clusterfuck of political ties to where if an aggressive invader started to destroy a fellow allied Judean nation the Confederacy would be unable to defend that nation because of alliance ties. The same was happening now, just in the beginning stages. Kromulus knew it. He felt it in his heart.

What changed his opinion from earlier was the fact of just how many ships and their specifications the Empire was sending into Judea. There was no way this was a peaceful territorial land claim. Something was up and, sadly, Anagonia could do nothing to investigate nor stop it. Kromulus softly mumbled something under his breath, leaning back in his chair and staring up at the ceiling. The lights had been dimmed somewhat, the smell of his coffee invading his senses as he closed his eyes once more to inhale a fresh breath of air. As he exhaled he quickly righted his position in the chair, staring forward at the Situation Rooms large display screen. On it he could see through live feed satellite and space station data concerning the Milograd fleet.

"Something has to be done to prevent this from happening again," Kromulus said. He turned his head to the end of the rectangular table to see Regus looking at him with a defeated gaze. "Is there no one in Judea who values Judean sovereignty as much as we do?" he asked to the Chief General.

Regus looked down, deep in thought. His eyes drifted back to meet those of the Presidents. "It's a long shot, sir, but there is one." He tilted his head slightly, "Why?"

Kromulus smiled, looking down as he slowly tapped his fingers on the polished wooden surface of the table. "Something I've been thinking about for a while, Regus. A new Judean Order. One which is strong, resolute and values these things that these nations now take for granted and sell away." He bit his lip, inhaling sharply as he looked at Regus and shrugged helplessly. "These things that now have fucked us over into submission, you know?" He chuckled helplessly, shaking his head. "But that is for another day. Right now we need our fleet home."

Regus slowly nodded, "Yes Mister President."

It was over as quickly as it had started. Admiral Daniel Tanner returned to his quarters, quietly working on his paperwork again. Captain Renard went back to monitoring fleet movements and manning his Strike Carrier. Crews continued their operations. It didn't sink in at first, but eventually those that were there would feel it. A feeling, something new, something that ate at their minds and hearts. A feeling that they would later discover was helplessness. They had been perfectly placed to stop what madness was to unfold on Judea. By some joke of Melkos or some foreign gods, they had been restrained by the power of a pen. It would continue to haunt them even after the events, knowing that what they should of done was so much more than what they simply did.

So Task Force Anagonia started once more on its final leg home.

The Monocratic Quintessence of Trescott

"Sir. I've just received these reports for you. It looks like they've finally begun to move."

First Chancellor Donavin Cero turned his chair to face Charles, a long-time associate of his and personal aide. In his hands was a binder which contained documents pertaining to the recent events that had sent military and government officials in frenzy. The Milogradian invasion of unclaimed Judean land. Without saying another word, Charles placed the binder on to Donavin's table. The First Chancellor glanced at his aide and then at the three-ringed piece of plastic in front of him. He reached out to the binder with his left hand while caressing a lit-cigar with his other. The sound of paper being flipped echoed throughout the room as he began to read over the documents. Charles stood attentively at the front of the desk, patiently waiting for Donavin to finish. A few minutes passed as the First Chancellor continued to go over the information. Occasionally, the cigar would come to his lips and a plume of smoke would follow right after. More minutes passed. The clock in the room ticked as each second went by. Charles shuffled his feet slightly to get rid of a growing numbing sensation. He had been standing for well over ten minutes. Finally, Donavin closed the binder and looked up at his aide who immediately snapped back to attention.

"Does His Majesty know of the situation?" Donavin passed the cigar over his lips and inhaled. A thin stream of smoke escaped from his mouth as the cigar returned to its former position. Charles coughed slightly as the smoke made its way towards him and managed a nod.

"His Majesty has been briefed, sir. He is in a meeting now with his generals. I suppose they are waiting to see what happens." Charles coughed again and began to wave the smoke coming from Donavin's cigar away from himself.

Donavin glared at Charles before giving way to a small sigh. He turned his chair around to face the large window behind his desk. The sun was glimmering in the sky now. There were little to no clouds floating about that day. A perfect time to be enjoying the outdoors. It wasn't, however, the time to be dealing with a political maelstrom. They had known for months now. Everybody had known. At the time, it had seemed irrelevant. The Empire of Milograd had posed no real threat to the security of the Trescottian people. If its government wanted to establish a military presence in Judea, then let them do it. The Trescottian government could easily intervene and turn any attempts of establishing a base around if it so desired. Such was the power of the Monocratic Quintessence's presence in the Tulgian Sea. However, as much as the Trescottian government wished for the regions surrounding Trescott to not fall under a foreign sphere of influence, there was an opportunity to be had. The complicated relations of Milograd and Trescott offered a wide variety of gains to be made. Trescott was always seeking to expand its influence in the Judean region. To do so, it needed allies. An ally in Milograd would prove useful in the coming events. Or so the Trescottian government had thought.

* * *

In recent months, the heated relations of the Tergnitzians and the Solmians had grown to a boiling point. War was imminent. Although the idea of having friendly relations with the Milogradian government was a good idea at the time, the war of all Judean wars would prove otherwise. Tergnitz was a flag under the ever-influencing Conglomerate. There were others just like Tergnitz within Judea; members of the Conglomerate. With the addition of Milograd, there would be one more. Even though the Trescottian government maintained friendly relations with most of the Conglomerate nations within Judea, the growing possibility of war between Tergnitz and Solm would prove a deciding point in such relations. The Monocratic Quintessence would have to pick a side or possibly no side at all. However, by not choosing a side, the Trescottian-state was at risk of being invaded by all parties. As such was the unfortunate situation befalling an island nation. Had the Trescottian government known the relations between two of Judea's most prominent nations would take a steep turn for the worst, it would have reconsidered the deal made between Trescott and Milograd. However, it was already far too late to back out of the agreement now. The war would force all within Judea to pick a side. If in the event that Tergnitz went to war, so would Milograd, presumably. That would prove troublesome for the Trescottian people. The Monocratic Quintessence did not want war within its sphere of influence, regardless of whether it was involved in it or not. However, as the predominant nation in the Tulgian Sea, war was a highly unavoidable dosage of life.

With the possibilities of threat from within its sphere of influence, the Trescottian government had already begun to devise a plan. To ensure that no threat of war was to be brought to the Trescottian people, the government had begun to enforce a strict maritime border as events in both Solm and Tergnitz began to spiral out of control. Doing so meant that ships attempting to pass through the Trescottian Archipelagos without the authorization of the Trescottian government would be turned around and forced to sail the entire circumference of the Trescottian maritime border. This enforcement meant that un-authorized ships were less likely to cross through Trescottian waters. They would hopefully avoid the Trescottian islands altogether. Not only would this hamper the ability of nations attempting to move their fleets from the South or North, but it would also help Trescott avoid unnecessary conflict. Although the maritime policies were enforced so that Trescott could avoid fighting, there was an underlying ulterior motive. The strict maritime border policies ensured that the Milogradian fleet's movement in the Tulgian Sea was effectively hampered. They, as any other nation, would have to go around the Trescottian Islands to get through the Tulgian Sea. This restriction would hopefully keep Milogradian interests and influence from expanding outside of its acquired landmass. Hopefully.

The First Chancellor ground his cigar into an ash tray. His mind was lost in thought. Charles had left him to deliver a message from himself to the High Empereur. The Milogradian colonization of Judean land was an issue that was not to be taken lightly. Foreign influences in Judea had proved to be troublesome in the past. Just like any other foreign power trying to exert its position in Judea, the Empire of Milograd would be treated the same as the rest (give or take a few special treatments). As the "Keeper of The East", it was the Monocratic Quintessence's duty to ensure the protection of the Judean lands, regardless of affiliation. If Milograd threatened the sovereignty of Judea, then it would be dealt with accordingly. Though Trescott hoped for friendly relations with its new neighbors, it couldn't help but feel suspicious and wary at the same time. However, it was not the time to act on impulse. Too much was at stake for both the Judean region, and the Trescottian nation as a whole. For now, all the Monocratic Quintessence could do was watch as the Milogradian fleet continued on its path...

Donavin turned his attention to the phone lying on his desk. His hand reached for the object and began to dial in the numbers to the Commission of Foreign Affairs. Regardless of Milogradian colonization, there was a matter at hand that was of the concern of the Trescottian government. The tribes residing in the regions which the Milogradians wished to colonize traced their ancestry back to the ancient Trescottians. Although these primitive tribes were persistant in their old ways, the Trescottian government had a duty to protect them in face of danger. They were, after all, kin of sorts. The First Chancellor waited as the phone rang. Finally, a voice came from the other side.

"Hello. You have reached the Trescottian Commission of Foreign Affairs. How may I help you today?" The voice asked.

"This is Lord First Chancellor Donavin Cero of His Majesty's government. I wish to send a message to the Empire of Milograd. Please stand-by, as once I am finished writing the message, I shall be sending it to the Commission of Foreign Affairs so that it can be sent to the Empire," Donavin tapped his finger on his desk as he awaited the reply from the other end of the line. Moments later, the same voice which greeted him came back on the line.

"Very good, sir. Please send the message once you are ready."

Official Communiqué of The Monocratic Quintessence of Trescott

To: The Empire of Milograd
From: The Commission of Foreign Affairs ; The Monocratic Quintessence of Trescott
Subject: Trescottian Descendents
Encryption: Medium

To whom it may concern,

Although the Monocratic Quintessence has agreed to turn a blind-eye to the Milogradian colonization of land within its region of influence, the Trescottian government cannot, however, afford to put the lives of the descendents of the "First Trescottians" in potential jeopardy. As such, we are asking that the Milogradian fleet operate under slight restrictions.

We know well that colonizing the lands to the West of Trescott would mean the removing of the native population. The tribes living in the area in which the colonization efforts of the Milogradian people shall be conducted are relatively peaceful. In light of this, the Trescottian government asks that the Empire of Milograd take responsibility in their colonization efforts and re-locate the native population further westward where they can join more of their people. Any intentional aggressive actions against these historic people of the Trescottian nation shall be met with harsh backlash. Know that this is not an attempt to halt Milogradian colonization of the designated area, but instead, an action so that Trescottian culture may be preserved. However, we cannot account for any hostile actions made against these tribes against the Milogradian fleet or personnel. We advise caution in the face of dealing with threats from the native tribes.

If the Milogradian fleet would wish it, a few translators knowledgeable in Old Terrascottian can accompany the fleet during its colonization efforts. This combination may prove useful in dealing with the local tribes. It is our wish that the colonization of the designated region is peaceful and that no blood shall be shed. If there is a problem with the Trescottian government's request, then please address so in your reply. Otherwise, an arrangement can further be worked out in the hopes that peace may be kept.

Signed,

THE EMPIRE OF MILOGRAD
[ The Administrative Arm ]

To: [ The Commission of Foreign Affairs ; The Monocratic Quintessence of Trescott ]
From: The Empire of Milograd, The Argyzian Authority
Subject: RE: Trescottian Descendents

Greetings,

The Empire of Milograd recognizes the Monocratic Quintessence's role in making a Milogradian territory in the Judean region possible, and once again would like to thank the Monocratic Quintessence for all their assistance.

With such in mind, The Empire holds no objections to the Monocratic Quintessence's request to have any Trescottian descendents re-located for their safety, and The Empire accepts the Monocratic Quintessence's offer concerning translators .

The Empire hopes that this course of action is considered acceptable.

The Milogradian Union's Juden Fleet continued moving forward in the Tulgian Seas, at this hour the sun was finally over Judea, and Admiral Yuut knew that soon enough he would finally walk the lands of Judea for the first time in his career. Ultimately this Operation would most likely be considered a great success for the Empire, so naturally the Admiral and his men would be welcomed back to Milograd as heroes; this was along the lines of what Yuut would think about ( quite often ) when navigating the world's seas, he always wanted recognition.

The Empire had dodged a bullet, for they had managed to hold off the Confederate States of Anagonia, whom had almost ruined all of the Empire's plans without even intending to, and if it wasn't for the Brimstone Pact things would have most likely played out much differently. The Argyzian Authority was caught off-guard by the Confederate States' actions, but quick thinking and manipulation managed to save the Empire from having to deal with a pest of massive proportions.

Trescott's allegiance to the Empire ultimately proved to be quite valuable, just as Jukill had expected it would be. However, the Trescottians wreaked of distrust, the Dh'arco Rahavuhra Jukill could smell it. Things had changed for the worst in Judea since the meetings between the leaders of the Monocratic Quintessence and the Empire, and this was most likely one of the reasons for Trescott's changes of heart. However, such was irrelevant, insofar as the only thing standing in the way of Milograd and Judean land was several hundred kilometers of sea.

Things had managed to work out for the Milogradian Empire, and as the Juden Fleet inched forward in the Tulgian Seas one thing was certain: Milograd's presence in Judea would be anything but quiet...
