I've been considering a MT RP using Unnamedland and one of my alt accounts, but this is the first time I've ever started my own RP on a NationStates forum. I know what my diplomatic incident is going to be already, but do you have any tips for what I should include in the starting post? Also, Ocelotica, my alt nation,only has a population of 141 million and some parts of Ocelotica are still stuck at tribal-ish tech. I'm not sure whether or not Ocelotica will get completely crushed.

If you don't want Ocelotica to get completely crushed, then just make sure that the players know there are limits and that you don't want Ocelotica to get completely crushed. RP is a cooperative endeavor. Though I don't know what you mean by "tribalish tech". You don't need to have any particular technological level to be (or not be) a tribe.

There are plenty of FT groups out there, ones less Tyrannical than others you just have to find the right fit.

Unfortunately, since this thread is meant for new players, I'd recommend that we avoid such inside jokes, as they may prove confusing for players new to NS in general.

I'd usually write it like you would a book. Third person and full sentences would be the norm.

The vast majority of nationstates RPs are told in a narrative fashion - if you picked up a book and read it, you'd find how most people at least attempt to write their posts.

This post shows the thought process behind my national president when considering a war happening on his border. Sure, there's a bit of dialogue, but he's speaking to himself. This is done to mimic how you might read a fiction book, like the Adventures of Tom Sawyer, where the thought process is clearly spelled out.

This post, in example as well, not only addresses the internal speaking between characters of the same military, but also tries to set up a visual idea of what exactly is going on, like you'd see in the Hunger Games, and even the book I mentioned above. While it focuses little on one character, you still get quite a good picture in your head about everything going on.

The whole "hey what's up" *punches* thing might be used in RMB roleplaying or in like a forum 7 roleplay, but I don't think the regulars of NS or P2TM are going to take very kindly to that.

As a rusty returning player, I'd like to ask what power blocks are active on Nationstates/II right now. What are the major (active) alliances? How do they relate to each other? And is there any major trend going on right now (we had the pony wars for a bit, that sort of thing.)

I'm mainly interested in the MT/PMT perspective though not exclusively so.

By the way, this is Knootoss. I'm just using this little alt because I use egosearch for my own main account a lot and don't want this thread to be at the top for all the eons to come.

The one that comes to mind is SACTO, which is anti-communist. I think they have a rival as well -- the IFC, I believe.

Otherwise, I think NS has kind of moved away from these huge power blocs. Similarly, I think regions have become tighter and that RPing is moving more towards region-based circles.

Btw, and unrelated, I RP Knootoss as the Dutch influence on Greater Dienstad (through Guffingford).

Well.. I suspect if you're not excluding FT... A huge elephant in the room with ... about 58 member states that are active at different times , and come and go -cough- Not self advertising just going by your wording. (Though it might be more confederal)

Well II is recovering now from stasis caused by influx of bad RPers and pretty poor in terms of quality year 2015. Though I have to say that there is one grand Rping project underway by me now - and I am hoping for it to introduce new trends on II.

Well, my advice is to start searching for rp threads and players you want to play with. As for simple basics, get a idea of your nation's diplomatic mission is, your nation's technology, and government system. Here's a guide that explains basic stuff for worldbuilding your nation.

you just need to find the right group of RPers. Some people like to take it slow, while others like a constant supply of posts to keep them busy. In my region (the one I belong to), we have RPs that fit everyone's preferences. Slow ones and quick ones.

All you need is to continue joining some Roleplays and meet some new people. The more people you meet, the more likely you will be to find a group of people that have the same style as you

I think RP's which progress daily (and whose speed is maintained) is rare, there's always RL and quality posts take time. More importantly however is ensuring interest is maintained so that it doesn't die off as so many do and I think the solution to that would be consistent communication, even if it is just popping in once a day to leave a silly message or two on RMB/OOC page.

For us perhaps we post once a week, or even longer, here's an example from our region, that took 3-4 months to complete (we wrote a lot though). Feel free to take a look at Septentrion and TG me if interested. Small group of people with clashing personalities and differing opinions with regards to, well, everything, but it's fun
